thinking about how lord asriel believed it was his life's purpose to change the world and defeat the authority and his arrogance caused fractures in the fabric of the multiverse, but lyra belaqua saved possibly billions of souls stuck in the purgatory, returning their essence to the multiverse in the form of dust, offsetting the authority's response to asriel's provocation, not because she wanted to be a hero but because she wanted to help out her friend
im sure someone has mentioned this before but i was looking up how old the name logan is and found that it means hollow or little hollow which is so fitting and such a good detail of logans character
I'm a middle school EFL teacher and as part of my efforts to get my students to actually read and like it, I had them pick a book from my curated list of middle grade favorites. Many of them chose Percy Jackson and, while some are still very much against books in general, I've gotten many positive responses! Many have expressed their desire to continue with the series, and one student even got his parents to buy him the entire pjo series.
He was super excited to show me his brand new TLT copy 🥺
Idk, I just find it very special that I read these books when I was their age and now I get to share them. It's kinda baffling how long I've been a part of this fandom, and how much these books have shaped me. Just thinking that they might make an impact on at least one of my kids the same way is sort of overwhelming.
Gods. I was Percy. I was just diagnosed with ADHD in 2005 when the first book came out. Everyone was telling me I can't use it as a crutch and I need to do better, while not giving me the tools to do better. And not to mention the undiagnosed Autism. (That wouldn't be discovered until college.) My teachers ignored me and saw me as a lost cause, I was bullied and had no friends. I had an abusive step parent. My dad was MIA most of the time. My mom worked herself to the bone and we were always a missed paycheck away from sleeping in the car. Then my 4th grade teacher read us Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief (again, in 2005). It was the original cover. I remember looking at the monsters coming out of the lightening bolt and thinking "Maybe I'm a demigod. I could fight those." I asked the teacher where I could get the next book and was heart broken when I discovered there wasn't one yet. A few years later, my mom surprised me with the first and second book. I then carried that book with me for a decade. Read it at least once a year. Usually more. I had it with me every time I had to be near my step mother. Carried it with me through all my initial Turner Syndrome doctor visits. My first year of college when my mental health was complete shit. I still keep it by my bed. I still read it at least once a year. Even 18 years later. Watching these episodes felt like coming home. Percy was my first real friend and was the first voice I heard that said I was more than a weird brain or a lost cause. So, thank you, Uncle Rick. For Percy, for the books, for the tv show, for everything. And Haley. For hearing the story first.
people who go through the main tags of big and tumultuous fandoms looking for new fresh good posts to reblog are essential to any circle. they’re like true hunter gatherers leaving the safety of settlement and braving the unknown wilderness to find food for the flock. they risk their lives every day and will come back with a few scratches at best and severe psychological damage at worst
My piece for the @trafficzine 5th edition! It was such an honor to have my piece alongside so many other amazing artists in this fandom, and it's especially special since Secret Life was the first life series I watched!
I'm so proud of this piece, the mounders have my whole heart... See if you can name all the little mounders moments I put in the panels :]
Alternate versions and sketches below the cut!
Top two are sketches from when I was laying out how I wanted the final thing to look like, bottom left was the first draft of the piece until I decided I wanted more little references to other Mounder's moments across the piece, I still love it; and bottom right is the lined version of it when I was still struggling with color and figuring out how the sparkly parts were meant to look.
May I present, my attempt at illustrating the last four pages of Tevinter Nights. 😁 (Also, the first time I'm posting art on here!)
As the whole thing was quite literally too long to post on tumblr, I uploaded the full version on a customized site made for reading webcomics (via ComicFury). Feel free to check out the link above if you like to read the rest! Also, if you're on mobile, there's a "Scroll View" option for easier navigation. :)
And, obviously, HUGE spoilers for those who haven't read Tevinter Nights!!
On a personal note though, I can't believe I actually finished it... As it had been a *very* long time since I drew (and finished) anything, let alone a 31 page comic and reading Tevinter Nights again finally sparked my motivation (and the courage to post it lol). So I want to thank Patrick Weekes for helping me overcome this massive art block and over two decades of Case Closed mangas for inspiring me how to draw an overly dramatic "exposing the imposter" moment. 😂 I tried my best to be as faithful to the book as possible and it took me forever, so... hope you like it! :D
Wow, just wow. @somerandomdudelmao, your series was incredible. I only found your comic in July and I didn’t become an active tumblr user/follower till September, but I’m so glad I got to watch this project come to a close. The ROTTMNT fandom wouldn’t be the same without you and your comic. You’ve inspired so many people, including me, and I just want to say thank you, Cass. Thank you for making my year a little bit brighter. Thank you for reigniting my love of art. Thank you for creating. Thank you for existing.
You’re no longer just some random dude lmao. You’re the creature who fixed the apocalypse, the creature who brought together thousands of people and built a family. A family of turtles and fans.
In honor of C.A.S I wanted to color and animate the final panel of the comic. Im still learning color theory and digital art but you’ve inspired me to improve, and what better way to start than with the end? It was a beautiful ending, so perfectly paced and full of a peaceful hope twinged with a bittersweet sadness. Your comic might be done, but this turtle family will live on forever.
Now go take a well-deserved nap and relish in your success!
