luka would see a hint of himself within you. your picture—perfect achievements, demeanor, it reminds him of himself. he can sense that faint, odd air that surrounds you, the small reflection of your true self that seeps into the cracks.

because of your similarities, you find yourself getting along with luka whilst simultaneously having formed some sort of rivalry with him. he was created to be perfect, meanwhile you are just naturally perfect — as perfect as humans and synthetic ones can get, that is.

nonetheless, whenever the two of you aren't competing, you actually get along. neither of you talk much, but the silence that engulfs the two of you is comfortable.

till isn't sure how to feel about you. the things you achieve are a little bit too great, and you pull them off way too flawlessly. you usually keeping to yourself isn't something that bothers till though, he can understand it.

you're unsettling, in a way, in till's eyes but he can't say he doesn't admire your talent — well, talents. it seems like you have several. on the rare instance that he decides to reach out to you, the air is rather awkward. you aren't an individual of many words and till really just doesn't know what to say to you.

he'll hesitantly approach you, his body stiff as he asks for a word of advice. as much of an oddball as you are to him though, till doesn't think you're too bad.

ivan, too, finds you odd. but he's intrigued — every time you're around, his eyes are on you. watching how you do everything with ease but how something within you changes whenever someone ropes you into an unexpected conversation. you become more stiff, more uncertain, stark in contrast to how you behave when you are left alone.

weird as it may sound, ivan observes you as if you're some sort of lab rat. he can't help but want to figure out what it is that makes you tick, how you manage to juggle being good at so many things all at once. he has a lingering feeling that it's hard and stressful even for you, though.

as for how you and ivan would interact, however, he makes you feel a bit uneasy. he's always looking at you so closely, picking his words so carefully. it causes your mind to wrack, trying to figure out if he's up to something — but the more you get to know him and vice versa, you find out that all he wanted was to know you better.

hyunwoo admires your expertise in several fields. he thinks you're pretty cool for being able to excel at so many things and might even approach you from time to time.

he'll speak to you as if you've known each other for a while now. his body language is a casual, lax one, the complete opposite of yours — reluctant, slightly on guard. hyunwoo can sense it, hence why the next time he strikes up a conversation with you, he'll tone everything down a notch even if he isn't a particularly overwhelming individual.

slowly but surely, you'll start to warm up to hyunwoo. he's been pretty laid—back from the start so nothing much changes in regards to his behavior. over time, you learn that he's a reliable, nice person, prompting the two of you to become quite close.

dewey doesn't acknowledge you much. he knows your name, recognizes your face, will admit that you're a jack of all trades and master of plenty.

but he never really goes out of his way to befriend you — and honestly, you're sort of glad he doesn't. the two of you are polar opposites. he's more outgoing, more brawns than brain, someone who would send your senses into overdrive the second he starts talking to you.

the few times you do talk, dewey doesn't even notice how apprehensive you seem to be. he just goes on and on, talking about whatever has been on his mind lately and asking you a couple of questions to make sure you're still engaged in the conversation.

isaac is someone who you see hanging around dewey rather often, which causes you to assume that he is probably just as overzealous as his friend. right?

wrong. similar to hyunwoo, isaac's behavior is leaning towards the down to earth side, the only difference being that he isn't as extroverted. not that you mind, though.

your conversations tend to be pretty short and blunt. neither of you are the type to sugarcoat things, deciding to be honest instead — there are plenty of people in this word who would take offense to that bluntness, but the two of you understand each other in a way that no one else does.

A Strange Blue-Twintail Ghost?!

Hello, and welcome back to Project Sekai News! I'm Hoshino Ichika, and this is our faithful journalist, Tenma Saki!

Hi everyone! Glad to finally be back after such a hiatus!

We apologize for being gone for so long. Though this is no excuse, school has become stressful lately, as we are second years. Nevertheless, we are back to report on events around Shibuya Sekai.

As for today's report, I'm sure you've all heard of Hatsune Miku, Sekai's beloved virtual idol.

I have, Ich - Hoshino-san, but what about the people that haven't? Care to share with us who she is?

Of course. She's something called a Vocaloid, developed by Crypton Future Media, and codenamed CV01. A Vocaloid, according to the Vocaloid Wiki, is "a singing voice synthesizer software product." Basically, a software that can allow users to synthesize a singing voice. Hatsune Miku is depicted as a sixteen year old girl with long blue twintails, though there is debate on what color they actually are. Some people say they're teal or green. She was released in August 2007, and since that has become the most popular, cutest girl ever, able to spread hope to all of her fans across the world...

A-ah, sorry! Um, anyway... people have been claiming that they've seen Hatsune Miku around Shibuya Sekai, walking around as if she were a normal human being. Obviously, this isn't possible, since you can only see Miku on a screen. They report they only saw her out of the corner of their eye, and when they tried to look at her directly, she vanished.

Woah?! Are we sure they're not hallucinating?

Most of the people who saw her have never hallucinated anything before, which is strange. A first year high school student reported that she thought she saw Miku behind the corner of a building, watching her, but when she blinked, Miku disappeared, as if she were just imagining it. Multiple people reported a similar situation, actually.

But considering the amount of sightings, it's probably not her imagination, right?

Is it not a cosplayer, or someone that just happens to look like Miku?

If it was a human, no human should be able to simply disappear like that.

Then is she... a ghost?!

Not exactly - she could be a hologram. Miku is a robot, after all. Though how she's appearing throughout Shibuya is a mystery. But since it's Miku and not Kagamine Le - I mean, some really creepy monster from the Backrooms - I assume we don't have anything to worry about! After all, Miku could never cause any real harm to the citizens of Shibuya Sekai.

What did Len ever do to you -

The police are trying to investigate this sudden apperance of Hatsune Miku, but so far have no luck regarding figuring out what exactly she is. We ask that for now, do not approach the Hatsune Miku hologram and report any sightings of her to the police immediately. Until we know what she is, we need to take the utmost precaution.

In my previous post i talked about how I have a lotta scrapped MV ideas, well may as well dump some designs i've made based on songs over the years because like I probably wouldn't post these otherwize

This one i posted a storyboard for actually its An Aliens I Love You by Utsu-P.

I gave young Rin a sakura motif with her dress because of miku and rin meeting under a sakura tree, teen miku has a pink ribbion and hairclip to continue this. both rins bow and mikus outfit get darker outfits overtime to sybolize the song getting darker. I also gave adult rin the future rin hair. Miku's "alien" form is more or less how its described in the song tho i was lazy and didn't draw the 4 arms in the refs.

also Lily is Rins mom in this yup there she is indeed.

This one is Corona by Utsu-P no idea why i did it its probably not even in my top 20 Utsu-P songs i just had some brainworms that wore off. I finished like a minute of it I guess.

I also gave her a plaid skirt to match miku's concept desin because this song is like sorta miku becoming sentient or smth idk been a while since i read the lyrics.

Blade didn't think much of you at first and generally was even a little annoyed by you being assigned to him to take care of, due to his closed off nature. But with some time, he began warming up to you much to his dismay and eventually accepted his fate with you being in his life now.

He doesn't really care for slot of your hobbies or talents, especially as they aren't battle related. But if you seemed proud of something, he'll give you a head pat and a nod of acknowledgement as praise. He likes to hear you sing as well, whilst he cleans his swords, since it helps him relax.

Blade doesn't mind letting you behind him, whenever you two meet new people. It's a way to keep you safe and to make sure you don't get overwhelmed. He's very intimidating and generally keeps people away from you this way, something he secretly does on purpose for you.

》Jing Yuan

Jing Yuan didn't think twice in taking you in and just accepted you due to the circumstances you were in. He didn't treat you any different from the way he treated Yanqing, but he ofcourse also kept you shyness in mind. He found you quite adorable and it didn't take you long to warm up to him either.

He praises you for your many talents and supports you in any way he can, finding your singing and acting especially fascinating. He'll make you join cultural events, so that many other people will be able to see and praise your skills as well. He's just so proud of you and it shows.

He finds the way you hide behind him due to your shyness, whenever you meet someone new, quite cute and amusing. He might gently tease you for it, but also push you to be more confident by speaking to the person as well. He won't ever force you to do anything you aren't comfortable with however, ofcourse.

》Dan Heng

Dan Heng takes you under his wing due to a sense of duty. He was asked to do so and therefore he will, but he didn't expect to actually warm up and bond with you eventually. You two are very quiet and calm people, so it was easy for you to get along and co-exist next to eachother.

You two often ended up spending alot of time in the archive room together, where he taught you all about the data banks and you in turn taught him how to play some video games with you. He was confused at first, but soon found himself to be rather good at it somehow. He listens to you sing and watches you act, before nodding like a proud father would in acknowledgement.

Dan Heng isn't necessarily good with new people either, so he'll avoid people with you. He doesn't mind you hiding behind him either and will make sure to end the conversations fast enough, so you don't get uncomfortable or overwhelmed.

》Gepard Landau

Gepard took you with slight hesitance, mainly because he was unsure if he could handle taking care of a teen. But due to your quiet and shy nature, he quickly learned that there was nothing to worry about. You two bond over music, especially with Serval around, as she made sure Gepard warms up to you quicker by spending alot of time with you.

Whenever Gepard is unable to take care of you due to his work as a Captain on the front lines, he makes sure Serval takes care of you, which she gladly does. He enjoys watching your performances with his sister, where you sing and dance happily on stage for everyone to see your great talents. It fills him with ease and content, knowing that you're comfortable with him and his family. He also praises you alot for your talent and supports everything you do fully.

He doesn't mind talking to new people for you, when you first meet and in general might even prefer it due to safety reasons. He'll make sure to end interactions quickly however, when he notices you being too uncomfortable or nervous.

Since you uploaded that MMJ Miku beta design, do you know if there are other beta designs of the characters?? I'm curious since there's a little bit of concept art of project sekai.

Ah well project sekai featured in this one issue of a Japanese magazine called CG WORLD which is where I got that art from. That magazine is more focused on the costume designs though but it does have some concept art, but aside from WIP costume designs using the final character designs, all of it is blurred out unfortunately.

You can find some WxS beta designs, a Shiho beta design and some low quality MMJ beta designs out there (not entirely sure how people found these, I think they were left in a beta release and got datamined), but that’s all the unblurred stuff you can find.

And there are no VBS beta designs available. There’s some WIP costumes for Akito, Kohane, Miku and MEIKO (i posted her one ages ago), but there’s no actual concept art of them available anywhere.

I can go through what we do have though because they’re probably too low quality for me to post as an actual fact.

So these three images were in the CG WORLD magazine. You can tell who the members of Leo/need are based on the instruments (L->R: Saki, Honami, Ichika, Shiho, Miku), and MORE MORE JUMP! (L->R: Miku, Haruka, Airi, Minori, Shizuku) isn’t too different from the final designs aside from Shizuku, who’s blonde (probably because Shiho is). Niigo is harder to identify outside of Kanade and Miku. This art was also uploaded on TCRF and whoever put it there said that Mizuki is the brunette, Mafuyu is the one sitting next to Kanade and Ena is the one in the purple cardigan. It's not stated who is who in the magazine.

And here’s some actual beta assets. You’ve got WxS and Miku (there's two people in the back) here. Emu didn’t really change much aside from the eyes, but other than her...? (I edited this since it was posted don't mind the change)

We have the leader, who is literally just a palette swap of Rui's initial 2* with Tsukasa's face (excl the eye color which was given to Rui) and hairstyle. Possibly Tsukasa bc leader, possibly Rui bc design, possibly a scrapped character who was split in two

There's someone in the back behind leader boy and blonde girl wearing a pink-purple shirt and white jacket with a yellow tie. Clearly their color palette was used on Rui later down the line. Other than that there's nothing we can tell about this character, not even their gender. Possibly Rui, possibly Miku, possibly a third character who was scrapped/reworked

We have blonde girl, who's hair color and eyes seem to have been reused for final Tsukasa. Usually this is assumed to be Nene due to not resembling any finalised designs for the most part. I think she was probably scrapped, or heavily reworked and became Nene with some design elements passed onto Tsukasa (or Tsukasa was a girl?)

And in the back behind Emu is a girl in a green blazer and grey skirt that looks like a school uniform. Maybe this is Miku because the costume doesn't really match with the others? She doesn't have pigtails though, but no one here has pigtails. There's literally nothing identifiable about her.

Whoever these people are there were clearly a lot of changes made to WxS and these might not even be Nene/Rui/Tsukasa. That's definitely Emu though.

And here's a gacha bg and live bg demo for MMJ. The screen on the first image seems to be displaying a less-blurred version of their concept art. For the record, the illustrations in the second screenshot are from idolm@ster, they are not MMJ concept designs, but part of Shizuku can be seen to the right of the pink haired girl.

Possibly might've been named RE:START given the neon lights in the second image. Has some backing: their first event was called RE:START from Here!, and NaytalieN said in an interview that there was extremely little development on MMJ outside of character illustrations when he was commissioned for that event (and a couple statements imply the game was still in fairly early development too). Or it might've just been a catchphrase for the group or something.

And this. High quality beta-Shiho. This was used as a placeholder card art (surprisingly finished for a placeholder) for MMJ!Miku’s initial card, which by the way, looks exactly the same as the final version only it hasn't been finished yet. I’m pretty sure this is Shiho and not Shizuku because of the side ponytail and image color. But Miku is wearing a similar costume to the one in the MMJ concept art. I mean it was marked as placeholder and was not intended for use, it doesn’t really have to make sense. Also what seems to be a costume for Miku based on this card was left in the game and is on TCRF I added the screenshot below.

I haven't finished translating the CG WORLD article yet, but there's not a huge amount dedicated to character design, as I said earlier it's mainly about costumes. What I can tell you though is that VBS and WxS apparently took longest to finalise, specifically Akito and Tsukasa.

My backlit camera lens experience was my worst event experience in project sekai history and it exposed my biggest issue with this game.

Project sekai's gacha system is one of the biggest scams in all of gacha.

Absolutely ridiculous that there's no way to guarantee a card beyond knowing you can spark it. You shouldn't have to make 300 pulls to use the shop when you literally have a pity system. Except the pity system is literally meaningless. 100 pulls to get a 4 star guaranteed?? Bullshit. The 100 threshold should be the banner guarantee, and the 200 threshold should be a chosen card guarantee.

At least in a game like Star Rail, I know I'm guaranteed what I want at the end of the work. If I can make enough pulls and build my pity, I know I can get the one I want. But in project sekai I'll never know I can get the one I want, because of my second issue with the pity system. It doesn't carry over. So if you want your shit, it's 200 pulls minimum That Specific Banner to get it. You can't pity build across different permanent banners, and it's predatory behaviour for a game that appeals mostly to teens and young adults. Having every permanent banner carry over pity might simplify things a bit too much, so what if group events and mixed events had their own pity carry over, since most people only wish for the groups they like most anyway.

Implementing both would trivialise the game too much, whatever, I'm not saying both of these fixes need to be made. But one of them would life easier for free to play players. I've been free to play for years, after I spent almost 300 on a kaito card. And I finally dipped my hand into my pocket for cyberpunk rui, because I'm so desperate for the game to give me a single card I want. And I got a stupid fucking vocaloid who I Do Not Like or Want. I didn't even get Rin with my paid gems. My paid gems got me a 3 star. I want to drain my account to have the gems and get Rui, but knowing this disgusting predatory system, I'll spend another 300 like I did for Kaito just so I can buy him from the gacha shop. Fucking disgusting. Again, in other gacha games, I could pay less and guarantee the character I wanted. Far less.

Not to mention it's really funny for Sega to rerun a rui limited card right before a focus event. Almost like a punishment to his fans, you can only have one or the other if you spend enough gems. I spent 180 pulls between wedding rui and cyberpunk rui, and got neither. I got wedding Toya and cyberpunk Rin, and I've never felt more cheated. It's predatory. It's making me wish I never found this stupid game. I love Rui, but Sega hates him and his fans just the same.

On the other half of my worst event experience, I saved bonus energy since the end of A Sad Farwell At The Curtain Call in preparation for Ruis fourth focus event. I didn't even know what it would be at the time, since it wasn't out on JP yet. I waited for a year. My final ranking in Curtain Call was 580, a disappointing loss for top 500. I wanted to get top 500 this time and prepared for it. Thanks to being an adult, I ended up having no time or energy to play, and I've come 1895 place. Not even top 1000. It sounds stupid, but I cared about this so much, and it's a repeated punch to the skull that I couldn't have a single wish fulfilled for this event. Maybe I should lower my expectations, or maybe this game should pretend it cares about it playerbase and fix its awful fucking gacha system.

Whatever Rui 5 is, I'm not sure if I even care at this point. I feel gutted and soul crushed over all of this horseshit. Even reading the event story did nothing for me, it's just another event where the lead deals with 'I need to get better st this thing I'm exceptionally good at because I'll never achieve my dreams if I dont'. I can only hope his next focus is better, but is worth my time and mental health to give a shit anymore?

Gamma Gal/Amy...has a sleeper build. Buuut it's nothing too insane, she's just got buff arms. She's also physically stronger than Shadow Guy/Sam.

Jet Pack Guy actually talks to Flash! He greets him right when he comes back from work and tells him about his day while he's doing stuff around his igloo. Sometimes he'll even sit next to his fish bowl on the floor and do some of his work so they can hangout. He also makes pop noises at Flash, the same way we'd meow at a cat,c in hopes that he'd understand him better. Of course Flash can't respond but he actually fully understands JPG and likes listening to his little rambles.

Here's another Jet Pack Guy headcanon for the JPG nation (y'all are eating GOOD tonight huh?): He puts his jet pack on a puffle-sized race car bed. I don't CARE if canonically his jet pack rests on an ACTUAL puffle bed, this idea has taken over my mind. I don't care how silly or ooc it is, it's my truth (/nm btw im just overexaggerating for comedic effect. i rlly love this hc)

You might've noticed this on some of my drawings but I headcanon that G Billy has a beauty mark on the lower left corner of his mouth. There's no hidden meaning behind it this is just me claiming him as a pretty guy lol. I wouldn't be lying if I told you guys that this hc was inspired by Shizuku Hinomori, you know, from Project Sekai (im not rlly into pjsekai anymore but when i was talking to oomf about it this hc just poofed into existence. so uh ty for that sort of former fav character shizuku)

Ok so I saved this one for last because it's a lot darker than the rest of the hcs. So buckle up, we're in for a mood shift: During Frankys execution simulation in Penguinronpa, The Penguin Band weren't dead beforehand, but rather they died during the execution. They were brought out to the edge of the new island, having been informed that Franky was on his way to them. When they were able to see Frankys silhouette in the distance that's when they were brutally stabbed by the icicles. And as they saw him getting closer, from where they were standing, they tried to reach out to him witht heir flippers with what little energy they had left. But we all know how well that must've turned out. They were already dead when Franky finally made it.

And that's all for now! kinda short but whateves! I obviously have more ideas bouncing around in my little brain but I'm thinking of saving them so I could draw them instead.

Next unit from the unit swap, time for the idol group!

An idol group full of secrets, looking for their dreams.

Despite being an idol group, they have kind of a mysterious vibe, and also have a lot of issues. Though it is not a Mafuyization of Tsukusa, if anything Tsukasa has more parallels with Airi here-

Some trivia about this unit under the read more!

- Tsukasa is the leader, the order is Tsukasa -> Rui -> Airi -> Mafuyu.

- As said with the previous band, Saki never got better, and because Tsukasa wanted to become a star that could even reach her in her hospital room, and went on the idol path. He still managed to forget why he wanted to become a star though.

- Their SEKAI is nearly an endless maze of old-looking stages, like a old theater scene, a kabuki scene, a steampunk scene, a retro TV show scene, a coliseum, etc.

- Lika MMJ, they’re a freelance group who stream on internet. One of their more popular series of stream, outside of their shows, is Tsukasa, Airi and Mafuyu testing Rui’s inventions.

- Even though Tsukasa is the unit leader, Airi is the one teaching the others the ropes into being an idol since, well, she’s the only one with idol experience here.

- Mafuyu still has her issues with her self and her true feelings. Furthermore, her mom doesn’t know that she joined an idol group, and only think that she is participating to a study group with genius like students like Rui. Mafuyu is also maintaining her anonymity by wearing a mask and going by the name Yuki. Surely, nothing bad is going to happen once her mom discover the truth.

- Airi and Mafuyu are in the same class, and once Airi learns about Mafuyu’s issues, she becomes dead set into helping her. This is partly due because she feels guilty about not having been able to help Ena in middle school, and is lowkey projecting her guilt and issues into Mafuyu. Still, in the group, Airi is Mafuyu’s biggest support (even if the whole group is trying to help Mafuyu)

Project Sekai Fanfiction Headcanons

Who needs human biology?? lol. Have some headcanons my partner and I made for the PJSK characters:

VIVID BAD SQUAD:

An - reads magical girl mangas, but not much fanfiction.

Kohane - reads shojou mangas, but not much fanfiction.

Akito - reads x reader oneshots, but the good-quality ones from that author who abandoned their account 2 years ago.

Toya - reads x reader oneshots, but the low-quality wattpad ones. He asked Akito what ABO was once and he nearly threw Toya's phone.

NIGHTCORD AT 25:00

Mizuki - reads smut for fun. Tries to find the dirtiest, nastiest stuff and then just reads it for funsies :)

Kanade - writes yuri fics. They are so horrendously tragic and sad and almost always end painfully. People are sobbing in the comments (she doesn't know why).

Mafuyu - writes smut for fun. I headcanon her as Asexual so she's not personally into it but she finds it fun. She asked Mizuki to beta read for her once but Mizuki's 'advice' was to write "awooga" on every sentence she thought was good.

Ena - writes and reads in equal portions but when she writes she is projecting onto the characters so hard it may as well be a traumadump.

WONDERLANDS X SHOWTIME

Tsukasa - reads angst and ugly sobs every time. He tends to only skim tags instead of reading them all so he accidentally read a Dead Dove: Do Not Eat fic once or twice. He hates them so much but he can't stop until he finishes the story, no matter what. It never ends well.

Emu - reads Dead Dove: Do Not Eat fics on purpose. For fun. Hurt no comfort is her favourite tag right next to Major Character death. Kicks her feet while she reads (having a great time).

Nene - mostly reads chatfics and Found Family fics. She's found them comforting for years. Mostly reads when she's sad.

Rui - this dude is a LIBRARY. He is such a well-rounded reader that you can ask for anything and he's got recommendations, even for fandoms he doesn't read. Nobody's quite sure how he does it. He has, at minimum, 100 tabs open on his phone and 150 tabs open on his computer.

MORE MORE JUMP

Minori - used to read any and every fic with Haruka in it, but always got flustered halfway through and couldn't finish them. She stopped reading them when she met her in person.

Haruka - has started reading any and every fic with Minori in it, but always gets flustered halfway through and can't finish them.

Airi - reads fics about herself to egosurf half the time. The other half of the time she's reading ABO fics for fun (she does the little personality quizzes too). It's her guilty pleasure.

Shizuku - doesn't know what fanfiction is.

LEO / NEED

Shiho - reads mostly yuri. Prefers fluff over angst but she'll take what she can get.

Ichika - reads some GL, but way more platonic fics. She tried writing fics of her own at some point but never did anything with them because she didn't like how they turned out (she still has them, though. They're hidden in her room).

Saki - reads exclusively BL and yaoi. Will talk to you about it if you mention anything even slightly related.

Honami - vaguely knows what fanfiction is, but doesn't really read it. She tried reading some fics about a couple of celebrities she liked, but was a bit weirded out and left it alone since then. She has nothing against people who do read fics, though.

The sleepiest political intrigue protagonist I have ever seen. He canonically slept for 63 years in front of the Three Life Rock in the underworld, after he wanted to just "close his eyes" for a bit. When he is reincarnated, he spends most of his time napping. He's found in the courtyard, in his room, in his study, anywhere in his house, he can be found napping. His friend becomes so concerned about this that he has a physician check him. But he's not ill, just sleepy! Nothing wrong with him just a chronic case of Want To Nap

He's lived several lives and died in horrible ways in his previous ones so in the current one he likes to just chill. He sleeps a lot and only gets involved in the plot after his future husband drags him into it and honestly? Valid. Let my man rest.

Luka:

She always sleeping. She sleeps standing up, she sleeps in the middle of a conversation. All she knows is sleep.

Theres 6 different Lukas in this game but specifically wonderlands sekai Lukas entire thing is that she's always sleeping and is very sleepy in general :) another thing about her character connected to the sleeping thing is that she's only awake if someone is upset, and falls back asleep if everyone is smiling which i think is really cute. she's very silly and also very pretty imo

her ram horns look like shrimps, she's pink, she uses her friends' laps as pillows, also she's luka

this isn't propaganda but i wanna clarify there are several different megurine lukas in this game and also she's a vocaloid so be sure you use a picture of the wonderland sekai version (she's the sleepy one, you'll know her when you see her)
