So yes and no, to answer your question…Hakyeon has been the romantic lead in a couple web dramas (short drama series usually uploaded to YouTube) Tomorrow Boy and What’s Up With These Kids (technically not a romantic lead but the audience literally got to vote for the ending couple lol)

Both of these are pretty low budget and cringey with some awkward acting (Hakyeon included) but I appreciate that they gave him an opportunity to learn and grow also they are very funny but unfortunately kinda hard to find at least with a cursory search

Hakyeon isn’t a romantic lead in Familiar Wife but he is a side character with a romantic storyline that ends in him in a relationship. (It’s also a really excellent drama series I highly recommend)

It looks like he’s also probably a second lead (aka not destined to get the girl) in his other drama from this year Joseon Attorney but I’m not certain because I haven’t watched it .

Honestly the fact that he’s playing second lead at all is actually a really good sign for his acting career and I’m really excited for his potential going forward. I’m not certain if he fits the type cast that directors want for their male leads in romance dramas but I do think there’s a good chance of him getting to play lead at some point if he continues the trajectory from side character to second lead to main lead .

That said I personally think the roles Hakyeon is most effective in are his unromantic roles like Children of Nobody, Tunnel, or even Sassy Go Go. He’s really excellent at playing guy who gets beat up a lot, well or maybe I just like that look for him a lot. I think he’s also good at comedic rich guy roles. He can do a lot these days with a role that isn’t just guy who will get together with the main girl and I think that’s awesome.

Here’s hoping he gets more fun opportunities in the future, I think at the very least we probably won’t have to wait very long to see him on screen again at this rate.

I’m gonna brag rn; literally N.Tic’s Fiction mv is a whole concept within itself. Yeah it’s retro but it’s also the way it was filmed, the lights & effects, the choreo, their outfits and just the way the song flows is absolutely fantastic. It’s like, my favorite song of 2019. Facts sis. Tbh N.Tic themselves are a concept. I’ve made so many posts about them but they deserve it, they are improving with each comeback and all their songs are bops and I am so fucking glad I decided to check them out. I’m glad that, despite how I felt about Jion’s appearance at first, I saw past that, realized how amazing his voice is and decided to stan the group. They’ve done so much for me already and I’m so grateful to them and hope they continue to improve and gain more fans.

Okay so here’s a thing you gotta remember, Hyuk was a kid when he became a trainee so he’s got little to no experience with girls

My Bias:

Cha Hakyeon is literally the love of my life. I know it sounds ridiculous, but god I love him so much. I chose him as my bias back in 2013, when I first got into VIXX. He’s so very cute and sweet. He reminds me a lot of myself, but he feels like a better version of myself. We’re both the mom friend, we’re both loud, and we have some of the same mannerisms. He’s someone I admire and look up to as a person, and I really want to meet him one day. He’s someone I would dearly love to be friends with, and I wish I could take care of him, too. I don’t mean that in a weird way - I’d just love to be there for him and make sure he’s not suffering and to be there for him to talk to and give him advice and all that fun stuff. I also really wanna give him a hug cause he’s so adorable :3 I also may or may not want to kiss his stupid face but that’s besides the point

Bias Wrecker

I don’t know why I love this freaking loser so much, but I do. Fun fact: he was my initial choice for bias in VIXX. The first music video I ever watched by them was VooDoo Doll. His rapping part came up and my first thought was basically, “That one, I want that one.” Unfortunately, at the time my friend told me he didn’t like perverted girls and I was like well fuck I can’t get into someone like that because I was that dumb perverted teenager/young adult. So I chose Hakyeon instead. I don’t have any regrets, but sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I had stuck with Wonshik. 

Wonshik is really goofy and also reminds me of myself, but to a lesser degree. He’s very sweet and idk why but he looks like he would be very nice to hug and cuddle with. Again, I would love to be friends with him. I would love to be friends with all of VIXX. They’re all amazing guys who I feel like I would get along with very well. I think that’s one of the reason I love them so much. Honestly, all of VIXX is lowkey my bias wrecker - I go through stages where I get a little more interested in some of the other guys. But Hakyeon will always be my top fave out of all of kpop, and Ravi is second. The rest kind of shuffle around in how much I’m loving them at the time haha

“Kuroko no Basket is not gay” - and why that statement is bullshit

I know I said I was leaving for today but this is something that has bothered me for a long time and I would like to say this. 

I take issue with the title statement, and I’m going to explain why. This is going to be a very long post so grab a snack and get comfy. 

Okay. To begin with, I’m going to talk about Kagami. He, along with Kuroko (but that’s another story), are the only male characters on the Seirin team who show no interest in Momoi. There are plenty of things that make this odd. One is the fact that Hyuuga has said he doesn’t like girly girls, yet even he salivates over Momoi. So Momoi is hot stuff. Yet Kagami shows zero attraction to her. He says to Kuroko that she’s cute, but that doesn’t mean he’s interested in her. Kuroko agrees she’s cute, but we know he isn’t interested in her at all. You can be aesthetically attracted to someone but not romantically or sexually. Secondly, his interactions with Alex. Kagami seems thoroughly disturbed by Alex when she does things such as try to kiss him or when she walks around naked. First of all this is odd for a teenage boy. It’s not that Alex isn’t attractive. The Seirin members also go gaga over her similar to Momoi. And I don’t believe it’s that she’s a mentor/parent/older sister figure, because of Himuro’s interactions with her. Himuro is not bothered by her behaviour at all, he just seems amused. When she tries to kiss him, he stops her and says people don’t do that casually here. This implies he’d be fine for her to kiss him if they were back in America. You could explain this as ‘maybe Kagami is just a prude’, and yeah, maybe he is. That’s one option. However there’s more. In Kurofes, his answer to ‘what is your type (as in romantic partner)’ is very odd. I have spoken to other people who speak Japanese and they also agree his answer is very strange. So, Kagami responds that he is attracted to “an elegant gir- person”. He starts saying the word girl, and then stops and changes to a gender neutral term. This is odd. The change from female to neutral seems significant. Why did he feel the need to stop saying a female term and change to a neutral term? Plenty of other characters in Kurofes say gender neutral person instead of girl (male characters) or boy (female characters) but that’s a normal response and they most likely are still straight. However that Kagami felt the need to specifically change his answer is very strange. My personal theory is that he just doesn’t think about his sexuality. He doesn’t seem the type to think about that kind of thing. All he cares about is basketball, not who he’s going to date. My theory is that he started saying girl because most people default that everyone is straight (shitty but true), and since Kagami doesn’t think about this he just automatically began to say girl. However, he changed his mind. So I think in that moment he realised “wait I do like guys” and thus changed his answer. You could take his answer two ways. That he’s bisexual, and wanted to use a neutral term to say he likes both girls and guys. Or you could take it that he is gay. Reo for example uses a gender neutral term in his answer, but we know he’s canonically gay. I would believe either, that Kagami is gay or bi, but personally I think it’s entirely possible that he’s gay judging by his interaction with female characters. 

We’re going to move onto another topic. The topic is that Fujimaki knows jack shit. 

Example one. Murasakibara. Murasakibara is autistic. There is no doubt. There is no argument. He is. He is autistic. However, I don’t think Fujimaki intended for him to be autistic. And by that I mean, Fujimaki does not know what autism is. He doesn’t know it is a thing that exists. There are a few reasons to support this. First, the way other characters talk about Murasakibara. Kuroko for example. Kuroko’s a smart kid. He likely would be aware that Murasakibara is autistic. However, when Kuroko describes Murasakibara and his personality, he makes no mention of this condition. Murasakibara is essentially described by characters as to be ‘just weird’. Things such as autism and mental illnesses are not understood well in Asian countries. I honestly do not have much knowledge of the way such things are treated in Japan, but in South Korea these things are barely acknowledged. Martina from EatYourKimchi has spoken about her experiences as a teacher in S.Korea. She mentioned that she had students she was convinced were autistic, and when she brought this up to the other teachers they responded “No they’re just a troublemaker. There’s nothing wrong with them.” I assume this view is the same in Japan (especially going by Fujimaki’s opinion of LGBT culture - which we’ll get to later). So, Fujimaki likely doesn’t even know autism exists, he just thinks it’s a weird personality some kids have, and gave it to Murasakibara for variety, without realising his character actually has a medical condition. 

Example two. Reo. I love Reo. He is beautiful and lovely and I love him. But he is THE SHITTIEST AND LAZIEST attempt at a gay character I have ever seen. Fujimaki has NO IDEA about anything LGBT. There have been discussions on this already, for example here. I highly recommend you read this post, but I’ll also go into this as well. So in Japan, for many people who are not in the gay community, being gay, transgender, or even just a crossdresser are considered the same thing. If you’re gay you’re trans. If you’re a male who wears dresses, you’re gay and trans. And so on. That’s the opinion. It’s fucking stupid. But that’s how it is.  Now let’s look back at Reo. First of all, Hayama refers to him with a female honorific, ‘nee’ meaning older sister. This does not necessarily mean Reo identifies as female. In Asian countries, many males who exhibit motherly qualities are often referred to with female terms. For example, my fav kpop group of VIXX. The leader, Hakyeon, is very motherly to the younger members, and the younger members sometimes refer to him as their mother. Does that mean he’s gay or identifies as female? Of course not. The same is with Reo. He’s motherly to the other members of Rakuzan, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s transgender. He certainly could be, but he also could not be. The combination of multiple things, the female honorific, the fact that Reo has been depicted with the other female characters in art and omake panels, and that Hyuuga uses a transphobic slur with him, all suggests that Fujimaki shares that stereotypical opinion of if you’re gay you’re also trans, and so on. I’m not saying Reo is or is not trans, I don’t know and I will never know, because Fujimaki doesn’t fucking know either. 

More on sexuality and why Fujimaki knows nothing about LGBT. Alex. Her answer as to what is her type in Kurofes is that she likes assertive men. However we know Alex is bisexual. She is attracted to females as well. She states this plainly. You could say she only platonically kisses girls and while I recognise platonic kisses are a thing (I’m aroace so ofc I do) I don’t think it applies here, and I will tell you why. To most of us modern kids on tumblr, sexuality and gender are all very normal things that we know a lot about. But to most what I’m going to call ‘normal’ people not on tumblr, they are not educated in such topics. A straight man is just not going to kiss another man. Maybe if he’s an actor playing a gay character, but I don’t think many straight guys are going to be pashing other guys just for fun. If they were into that, they’d be bi. Same with straight girls. I know plenty of straight girls who just would not kiss another girl. It’s not homophobic, it’s just their preference, similar to a lesbian or a gay male not wanting to kiss someone of the opposite gender. It’s just preference. And that’s fine. Fujimaki does has the stereotypical opinion of westerners which is “we’re all gay, we all make out with everyone, and we love taking our clothes off”. And yeah. That’s what Alex is. I love her, but she’s the stereotypical Japanese idea of what an American is. Which is highly inaccurate. However, this does not change the fact that she is bisexual. Again, Fujimaki may not have intended that, but as the same with Murasakibara, it’s true whether he knows it or not. 

So. We have established that Fujimaki knows nothing about his own characters. By all this information, it’s entirely possible other characters could have different gender identities or sexualities. Fujimaki would probably say ‘no, they’re all straight’, but tbh, I’m not going to listen to anything he says judging on the way he wrote Murasakibara, Reo, and Alex. I’m just not. 

My point here after all that is: if you know the characters better than the author does, do whatever the fuck you want with them. Say they’re gay, say they’re trans. Whatever. Do what you want with them. Fujimaki has no fucking clue what he’s doing with them, so feel free to take his characters and do what you want. If you want to say Takao is gay, go for it, he’s certainly homo with Midorima. If you want to say Kuroko is aromantic, go for it. I get that vibe too. 

Basically, do what you want with them, and let others do the same. These are fictional characters. They’re meant to be enjoyed. If you feel the need to snap at people and police them for identifying with a character and saying they are *insert identity here* then you’re an asshole and you need to reevaluate your life choices.

The second building that we visited was smaller than the first but didn’t lack the vibe the first on did. We were lead down a long hall to a conference room where two men sat. One, I had never seen before...the other, the man with kind eyes and a love of oversized sweaters.

As his usually soft gaze was stern as he looked at Junmyeon until his eyes met mine. The look that he normally gave me in the coffee shop reappeared and a small smile appeared on his lips.

“Suho...so good for you to finally join us,” the other man said.

“Hakyeon...Taekwoon...” Junmyeon said.

“I don’t believe I told you you could call me anything but ‘Leo’...Suho,” the man from the coffee shop said.

Before Junmyeon could say anything the new man, Hakyeon, cut him off. “Now, now boys...let’s not start anything, there is a lady present so let’s try not to act like complete heathens, hmm?” Junmyeon clicked his tongue and went and sat down at the large conference table, me following suit. “There we go...now, my understanding is that Ms. Lee and Leo met at a coffee shop in the neutral zone between VIXX and BIGBANG and you don’t exactly approve of that.”

“I’m guessing like Jiyong you were pretty quick to figure out who she was...what were you hoping to gain by talking to her?” Junmyeon questioned.

Leo looked at my for a moment before his eyes shifted back to Junmyeon. “What does any man get out of talking to a pretty girl? Good conversation and a very pretty view.”

I felt my cheeks heat up at his words, whether or not they were completely true or not, unlike Junmyeon’s half-assed remarks there was actually sincerity behind them. And coming from a handsome man like himself, was actually quite nice.

Junmyeon scoffed. “What’s your end game? What do you want?”

“A cup of coffee...” Leo deadpanned, “I saw her, talked to her, did realize who she was later but didn’t let that effect me talking to her, like normal human beings do.”

“I know there some-.”

“He has no arterial motives for speaking with her...however since you’re here...that little poker game you’re setting up. I want in,” Hakyeon interrupted. 

“Absolutely not, we’ve had this conversation before,”Junmyeon said.

“But things have gotten so much more interesting lately...Leo why don’t you take Ms. Lee to the lounge down the hall so that Suho and I can chat,” Hakyeon said.

Junmyeon grumbled and cursed under his breath, but gave a nod. Standing up along with Leo I followed him down the hall to a room with a couple of couches.

“Have a seat if you wish,” Leo said, walking over to the sideboard where a coffee dispenser sat, “Coffee?”

“No...no,” I replied, “Um...Leo...”

“Taekwoon...” he said, looking over his coffee cup.

“What?” I questioned.

“Suho can’t call me by my real name. However, Ms. Lee...if you wish, you make call me Taekwoon,” he replied.

“Oh...well I guess you don’t have to call me ‘Ms. Lee’ all the time,” I said. Even though I was standing in the office building of a mafia, I felt oddly at ease with Taekwoon...however I did have a couple of questions. “Um...I was told that you’re a danger to me...maybe I’m a fool for asking but...are you a danger to me.”

He let out a sigh. “Would you like the truth? Or would you rather me continue to have the image of the man that you met in the coffee shop. They’re one in the same, but I don’t want to frighten you.”

“I want to know,” I said.

“I have the skills to kill a man with my bare hands, and the training to kill someone from a roof top that’s several blocks away...I’m a danger to a lot of people,” he reached behind him and pulled out a gun from his waistband and popped out the clip before setting it on the sideboard, “But I’m not a danger to you.”

“Mmm can I ask you a question?” I asked, earning a nod from him, “We met at a coffee shop in a ‘neutral zone’...what’s a ‘neutral zone’?”

“Has Suho not explained this to you?” he asked.

“First time it was mentioned was earlier today by Kwon Jiyong, plus Junmyeon and I...” I started but stopped.

“I see...he’s the friend you had a fight with...well. Y/N...” he stopped setting down his coffee cup, before grabbing a sharpie from the pen cup and walking over to the map of Seoul that hung on the wall. He started to draw territory lines around areas of the city...the largest of course being my father’s. “These are the different areas of the city that the different mafias have control over. Over here in this area between VIXX and BIGBANG there’s a few blocks that we agreed to be neutral territory. Meaning none of our dealings go on there...we may go have drinks, buy food, clothes, all that good stuff. But none of the other business that goes on in our daily lives...which is what makes that coffee shop such a nice retreat.” He put a little dot over where the coffee shop is. “EXO, BIGBANG, and VIXX are the mafias that have the higher power in the city right now...so much so that some of the smaller gangs have joined with each of us to help build that power.”

“There’s territories, neutral zones, and then areas like this that are all jumbled,” I said, pointing to the map.

“The warehouse district is by the water...Jiyong is quite found of the water because of the money that can be made with inports and exports...it’s a mess because every time a warehouse is emptied he snatches it up so there isn’t an actual territory for the warehouse district,” he said with a roll of his eyes, “Now...EXO...this was EXO before the agreement with your father...” He drew a line in my father’s territory connecting it to EXO’s and coloring it in. “Now that is the size of EXO’s territory, more than double what it was. Only probably with that is that that could begin to attract unwanted attention.”

Looking back at me Taekwoon chuckled. “You need to work on your poker face. What was it? Cops? His poker games and this move aren’t good for keeping prying eyes away.”

I stared at the map for a minute as he grabbed his coffee and took a seat on one of the couches. “It’s like some really bad board game...”

“You could say that...except this is a dangerous game we’re playing...” he said.

There was silence as you continued to take all this in. You got more information in those ten minutes than you had in...well in a very long time. “By the way...what does um...Hakyeon want from Suho?”

“My boss deals closely with antiquities...he’s been looking for something because a client is willing to pay top dollar for it. Suho happens to have it and he wants to strike a deal with him for it,” he replied.

“But what-”

I was cut off by the door swinging open and Junmyeon standing there with a look that could kill. Looking from Taekwoon to me he noticed the map on the wall. “Looks like you were having fun in here,” he said sourly.

“Just a geography lesson,” Taekwoon said.

“Right...cause you’re just that kind of guy,” he snarked, “Y/N, we’re leaving...now.”

I nodded before looking over at Taekwoon. “Thank you.”

“Anytime...” he said before Junmyeon rushed me out of the room.

“What did you two talk about?” he questioned, “He just explained to me about the territories because I asked what a neutral zone was...would you let my arm go I can walk!”

Once down in the parking garage and less likely to make a scene I yanked my arm away from him and he just looked at me. “A little bit of freedom and your attitude takes a complete 180...” he said.

“Yeah...cause it felt great actually being out in the world and not trapped like some prisoner,” I said, “Obviously joke was on me with that one, all my life I’ve been just a pawn and it didn’t really sink in until I was handed over like a baton to you. Just take me home...”

“You and Hakyeon?” Minseok questioned as Junmyeon talked to him about setting up a private poker game later that evening, “Sure you want to do this during a gambling night and not somewhere else with less eyes?”

“Why don’t want the general public to see what precious artifacts you might have lying around?” Y/N remarked.

“Okay, that’s enough wine for you....” Kyungsoo said taking her wine glass from her.

“Hey that was only my second glass,” she whined.

“No it wasn’t,” Baekhyun said sitting next to her, “Are you okay?”

“You are so sweet Baekkie, did you know that?” she questioned reaching out and squishing his cheeks. Causing me to roll my eyes; if there was anyone in this building that she had a soft spot for it was Baekhyun...and having a few drinks in her was definitely showing that.

“Um...boss?” he questioned.

“He wants the painting...honestly I could care less about that. It’s just sitting collecting dust...Y/N for the love of god, stop squishing Baekhyun’s cheeks,” Junmyeon said, resulting in her sticking her tongue out at him and crossing her arms in a pouting manner, “Anyway, he has another condition roped in there.”

“What did you do?” Minseok questioned.

“He wins,” he stopped and looked at Y/N who was now getting a piggy back to bed from Chanyeol, playing with his ears and they went. “She gets to spend the day with Leo.”

“My, my...is the cat not able to land on it’s feet when she’s around?” he questioned.

“He’s got a soft spot for her, that’s for sure,” he said, tearing at the label of his beer, “All Leo wants is one full day with her, none of us around. If Hakyeon wins...he gets the painting and Y/N goes to Leo for a day.”

“And you agreed to this?” Minseok questioned, “I know the girl isn’t intimidating, but when she finds out about this, she is gonna take your gun and shoot you in the balls with it.”

“You don’t have to be dramatic....”

“I would want to do that, if I was added as part of a bet...normally I would go along with your plans...but a bet?” Minseok said, “Think about if you actually want to do that.”

“It’s already done, I can’t go back and tell him no now,” he stated.

“Whatever you could win better be freakin’ good cause this is going to be a shit show...”

Bigbang:My first bias: Top. I liked him instantly. The first time I saw him was The Fantastic Baby MV and it was like ??? bro what an aesthetic ???? THAT HAIR COLOR ?????????? AMAZING. His rapping is out of this world and I totally fell for that. Then learning more about his personality really solidified him as awesome in my book. I like that he has a lot of layers.Your current bias and why: Daesung. I still love Top and he’s a close second favorite, but it eventually kind of hit me how amazing Dae is. I love him for his amazing singing of course, but what set him apart for me is just the kind of person he is. The way he’s been through such tough things and came out still smiling and wanting to make other people happy is so… profound? He inspires me. His faith really speaks to me as well.
