Rowing the Rarepair Rowboat: Scirisaac | Isaac Lahey x Scott McCall x Kira Yukimura (Teen Wolf)
Requested by @a-lil-bi-furious
Someone's walking towards them. Kira's aware that she shouldn't be staring because they might think it's rude, and that's not really the best first impression. But she also can't stop staring.
For a heart-skipping moment, she considers the possibility that they're not actually friendly and are, in fact, about to attack. Then she reminds herself that they're right in the open surrounded by at least twenty other students who all chose to eat lunch/study outside just like them.
"Uh, do you know them?" she quietly asks, leaning into Scott on her right. After all, he seems to be the centre of the stranger's attention, his eyes focused intently on him with a growing anxiety.
Scott lifts his head from the paper he was intensely scrutinizing for errors before their next class; he's desperate to pull his grades back up for Senior Year, it's all he's talked about all summer. She's been doing her best to help out with weekend study sessions at their houses, but they usually turn into impromptu movie/cuddle nights, which is a little bit unhelpful, they've both realized.
To her surprise, Scott instantly disregards the paper, his full attention on the stranger. Or, not stranger, she guesses. Not according to the look on Scott's face as the two of them look at each other.
"Yeah," Scott breathes softly, like he can't believe this isn't something pulled from the depths of his deepest dreams. "Isaac. Remember, I told you about him? He's part of the pack."
"That's good to hear," Isaac says, finally reaching them. There's the slightest twitch at the corner of his mouth, hands burrowing deeper into his pockets.
While clearly tall, the insecure hunch in his shoulders provides the image of a much smaller, perhaps lost child. Not quite the picture Kira built up of him in her mind from all of Scott's recounting. But little things jump out at her right away; the way his eyes reflect the rays of the sun with their golden flecks.
She had secretly felt envious when Scott said something along those lines, but she can't find it anywhere inside of her now, looking at him. Only understanding for why Scott's voice always held a sort of soft fondness to it whenever his name was mentioned in conversation.
Isaac shrugs, saying, "I had thought maybe moving halfway across the world sorta meant I wasn't part of it anymore."
Scott shakes his head. "It doesn't matter where you are, you will always be part of the pack. You should know that."
Then he's up off the bench and hugging him fiercely. Kira can't see Scott's face, pressed into Isaac's shoulder (nearly his chest), but she can imagine it's similar to the one of deep relief that is on Isaac's as he hugs him back.
While her stomach gives the tiniest of flip-flops at the sight of them embracing like long-ago parted lovers, she isn't jealous. More curious.
When Scott pulls back, he immediately turns to her and introduces them happily. "Isaac, this is Kira. My girlfriend."
She smiles up at him and sticks out her hand, then instantly regrets it, internally cringing at herself. To her further surprise, Isaac takes the offer and shakes her hand. His lips twitch up into a cute, lopsided little smile of amusement.
"Scott's told me so much about you!" Kira gushes. "I was hoping I would get to meet you at some point, but I'm not too keen on travelling -- I've done it a lot in my life already, and it would be nice to stay in one place for a few years, at least, so going to France was out of the question. And no one was really sure if you were actually still in France or not."
For a second, she worries she's scaring him off of her already, realizing they're still shaking hands. Well, they're not really shaking anymore, more just... holding hands. Which is worse.
Flushing furiously, she quickly retracts her own, glancing helplessly at Scott only to find him grinning down at her with that same soft fondness.
"Sit with us," Scott invites him, motioning across the table as he reclaims his spot on the bench beside Kira. "I'd love to catch up. Are you back for good?"
There's a hopefulness to the question and it doesn't seem to be lost on anyone. Isaac takes a deep breath, checks with Kira that she's okay with him joining them, to which she nods maybe a little too much, and slides onto the bench across from them.
"That's the plan," he confirms, fingers clasping on the table. He looks so poised, so put-together; Kira watches his eyes dart down to the table. "I can't believe I'm saying it, but I actually kind of want to graduate. I have a lot of catching up to do, obviously."
"We can help!" Kira jumps in, not even taking a single second to consult with even one of her better instincts. Impulse wins out every time.
Still, she may as well double down on it now. Looking to Scott, she says, "We're pretty much always studying these days anyways, right? We'd be more than happy to do it with you. Study. Study with you."
The heat of embarrassment under her skin is not getting better. It's a miracle that Scott and Isaac don't draw attention to it, not beyond another twitching smile from Isaac.
His eyes dart to Scott as he says, "That would be great. I would really appreciate that, if you really don't mind me, like, being a third wheel."
"I promise, you are not a third wheel," Scott says, then with a chuckle, adds, "You'll probably be helping us, to be honest."
"Yeah, you know what they say," Isaac says. "Three's better than one."

What's in your WIP folder?
Oh boy, that’s a big ask! I tend to start writing a fic and get distracted. Some of these are super old and I keep meaning to get back to them, but the muses are fickle.
Hawaii Five 0
On the Right Track Babe ~ When a case leads to an undercover assignment, certain things are uncovered (Mcdanno)
Untitled ~ Danny works a detail at Honolulu Pride cuz he figures if there’s gotta be a police presence at Pride that some of the cops should be part of the community (Mcdanno)
9-1-1/9-1-1 LoneStar
The Date ~ Buck gets ready for a date after his shift at the firehouse...and a hot guy show to pick him up. Hot guy is Dylan, the hot EMT played by Nyle DiMarco on a Station 19 episode where they were fighting wildfires in CA. (Buddie)
Chopped ~ Buck competes on a firefighter edition of Chopped (Buddie)
BBQ ~ Carlos takes TK to a family BBQ (Tarlos)
Untitled Buddie Soulmates fic ~ When someone falls in love, they are marked, a signal appearing on their skin to commemorate that their heart was connected to another. Many couples bore marks for one and other, but only in rare occasions, do they wear the same mark. When two people loved each other and were true soulmates, they shared a mark. (Buddie)
Special Report ~ The news runs a story about the Tsunami on the anniversary (Buddie)
Untitled ~ Buck offers to go as Josh’s plus one to a wedding (undecided ship)
Untitled ~ Eddie hurts his hands and is frustrated. Buck is a good friend and lends a hand ;) (Buddie)
Untitled 9-1-1/Prodigal Son Crossover ~ What is says on the tin
Glee (All Blam)
Running Mates ~ When Blaine Anderson becomes the Democratic nominee for the presidency, he has to pick a VP. A Glee/West Wing fusion
Let’s Marvin Gaye ~ So, idea: In Senior year, Artie decides to get some more directorial experience by making music videos of his friends covering songs. One in particular is a hit, Blaine and Brittany’s cover of Charlie Puth/Meghan Trainor’s song Marvin Gaye…but unlike the actual video, they don’t share a kiss. Both Blaine and Britt have their own storylines in the video, Sam and Santana acting as their respective partners, culminating with kisses like in the video…though Artie doesn’t fade to black fast…It quickly goes viral :)
The Smell of Fresh Cut Grass on Sun Soaked Skin ~ Summer before S2, Sam’s family has just moved to Lima and he’s making extra cash by doing yard work. Gets hired by Mrs. Anderson and he and Blaine meet.
The Most Magical Place on Earth ~ Sam is called to a meeting by Blaine's parents. They sit him down and say that of all of Blaine's friends, Sam is the most reliable, the most trustworthy and the nicest. So they have chosen (maybe even hire) him to keep an eye on Blaine because Blaine tends to go crazy when he takes this annual trip. Cooper couldn't handle him. Kurt couldn't take it. But they think Sam can. When Blaine does his annual week-long trip to Disney World, Sam goes with him. Oh what could possibly happen?
Mutual Admiration ~ Famous male model Sam Evans is on Ellen to promote his new GQ magazine spread and when asked about celebrity crushes he reveals he’s crushing on Broadway star Blaine Anderson.
Friends, Love & Homecoming ~ S2 AU ~ Post 2x03 – Sam joined glee in 2x01 and is not dating Quinn. Not dating anyone at McKinley, cuz he’s with Blaine. When Homecoming rolls around, he wants to take him, so he tells the club. I want reactions!
Drunk on A Plane ~ After being left at the altar, Blaine decides to use the Honeymoon tickets himself. AU ~ where Sam never moved to Lima and he and Blaine meet later in life.
Cruise Ship Coincidence ~ Future fic slightly AU (no Klaine engagement or Samcedes stuff or they broke up already). During a cruise, Kurt and Rachel bump into newlywed Blaine and Sam, who are on their honeymoon after haven’t saw them in years
DCTV
Crossovers
Untitled Bake Off AU ~ DCTV characters on Bake Off (Captain Canary, Winnara and others)
Stretch Right Up and Touch the Sky ~ Camp STAR is one of the North East’s most popular science camps. Every year, young minds arrive to learn and explore. Unfortunately, a few weeks before the camp was to open for the season, a large explosion in one of the labs and the ensuing fire made the camp uninhabitable. Not wanting his campers to miss out on their summer, Owner Harrison Wells called up Joe West, Owner of Camp Superflarrow, who he knew was looking to expand the science discovery program at his own camp. (Captain Canary, Winnara and others)
Untitled Beach Town AU ~ Beach Town AU: Sara Lance (16) and her sister Laurel (17) are invited to spend the summer at the summer beach house of Laurel’s friend Oliver (17). There, they meet a variety of people, townies, other vacationers, etc…and one townie in particular, Leonard Snart (17) catches Sara’s interest :) (Captain Canary, Winnara and others)
Untitled Actors AU ~ An AU where the Legends of Superflarrow characters are actors playing heroes (or part of the crew for the tv/movie) and Sara is one of the heroes and Leonard is one of the villains and their chemistry inspires the writers to give his character a redemption arc… (Captain Canary and others)
Captain Cold Comes to National City ~ Based on a thread started by this tumblr post: I’ve got it! Due to the Oculus’s destruction, Len Snart is blown through the time-space continuum. He awakens in a universe not his own, with a girl in a red skirt… not to mention a red cape… standing over him (Captain Canary, Winnara and others)
Legends of Tomorrow
A Tale of Two Snarts ~ A familiar face returns in an unexpected way (Captain Canary)
Land of the Lost ~ The Legends try to figure out how they’re going to fix time and find a lost friend along the way. Spoilers for the Season 2 Finale!!!! (Captain Canary)
Marvel
Rewinding the Clock ~ In the Marvel world, even old age isn't a constant...
We’ve Come A Long Way From Where We Began ~ Picking up where Infinity War ends….
Star Trek
Georgia Time ~ A follow Up the The Journey Home and Beyond set right after Kirk et all graduate but before they ship out. (McKirk maybe?)
Teen Wolf
Finding Home ~ After the Battle of Beacon Hills, life goes on. (Thiam & Mahealahey & Others)
Model Behavior ~ Isaac gets a job as an Abercrombie greeter (before the ban) and Danny's his trainer. (Mahealahey)
The Full Moon Job (Crossover with Leverage) ~ An alternate version of Teen Wolf Season 6. Wet after the pack pretends to leave Beacon Hills, but after that, all timelines are chucked, characters are brought back and fun is had (Thiam & Mahealahey & Others)
Stay All Day in the Sun ~ When Theo isn't around, the pack starts to wonder where he's going off to.... (Thiam & Mahealahey & Others)
Untitled Actors AU ~ Liam and Theo are actors on a hit tv show. Their characters are enemies with crackling chemistry, but no one suspects it cuz they’re together off screen (Thiam)
Untitled Actors AU 2 ~ What if Danny was one of the cast of a popular show about werewolves? Possibly called Teen Wolf, for the fans of the Meta and, in Season 2, they bring in some new characters, including one played by Isaac. Their characters aren’t supposed to have too much interaction initially, but soon everyone sees the chemistry… (Mahealahey)

Spawn of the Nemeton
Chapter One: The Aura (pt. 1)
Pairings: eventual stiles x y/n
Warnings: slow burn, eventual smut, timeline is whack because of characters I wanted to be included so ignore that, 18+
Summary: With the Nemeton reactivated, what kinds of creatures will come crawling into Beacon Hills? Will the pack be ready? Let’s find out.
It’s the first day of school Junior year and, as expected, there’s a lot of new students. Scott and Stiles assume because of the Nemeton, but their naïve hope is that it’s just the natural influx of incoming freshman. There always seem to be more freshman than seniors which makes you wonder what happens to the students in between. Lydia‘s first class is biology which she took as an elective to boost her already perfect GPA, but also to help Malia. She’s organizing her notebooks in her locker chronologically when she feels a presence walk behind her. She pauses her filing and turns toward the reason, slowly scanning the faces of students only to be interrupted mid thought. “Lydia! Please tell me you brought a pencil because I totally blanked this morning.” Malia ran up, eyes filled with panic and books haphazardly cradled in her arms. Lydia smirked and rolled her eyes as she plopped a pen out of her locker. She closed her locker and turned to on her heels, “Come on, you spaz.” to which Malia rolled her eyes and laughed. Scott and Stiles shuffled towards them at their usual haste. “Hey guys, don’t forget to be on the lookout for any supernatural behavior.” Stiles whispered the reminder while looking over his shoulder, obviously paranoid. Malia wore her usual, confused look, “What does that even mean?” Lydia turned toward her, “It means if someone hulks out and tries to kill the teacher, make sure to write their name down.” Stiles squinted at her, “Ha ha, you know what I mean. Be on the lookout for fangs or eyes or anything a newbie werewolf might be having trouble controlling.” He used his index fingers to indicate fangs coming out of his face and hissed, making Malia laugh. Scott chimed in, “Technically, it could be anything. With the Nemeton reactivated, we shouldn’t just be looking for werewolves. We should be looking for anything odd or out of place. Lydia shrugged him off as she continued to class with Malia close behind, “Yeah yeah, we’ll let you know if we see Bruce Banner.” Scott smiled, but Stiles just rolled his eyes playfully. “Who?” Malia whispered quietly to Lydia who in response just shook her head, “Never mind.”
When they reached bio, Allison was already in her seat with books and pencils laid out, ready to be utilized. “Hey!” She wore her usual, perfect, dimpled smile that cheered up everyone around her. The girls responded ‘heys’ in unison. Malia leaned toward Allison to whisper, “Scott said don’t forget to be on the lookout for supernaturals.” Allison looked confused. “Yeah like they’re gonna hulk out in the middle of class on the first day of school.” Lydia eyes widened, “Right? That’s what I said!” They laughed it off as the teacher came in and began introducing herself while going over the syllabus. As the teacher was speaking, Lydia had that feeling of a presence just like the one she felt in the hallway. She looked around the room at all the faces. Some were familiar and others were new. She turned to Malia sitting behind her, but it seemed like she was looking for someone too. “Do you feel that?” Lydia whispered. “Ms. Martin?” Lydia snapped her head around to look at the teacher, “Yes! Sorry.” As she went back to highlighting the syllabus, only half paying attention. Malia quickly passed Lydia a note that read, “ Something is off,” making Lydia realize it wasn’t just a banshee thing. Malia and Lydia were both feeling a presence, but with so many people in the room, they couldn’t tell where it was coming from. They would need to get closer.
After class they rushed into the hallway quickly. “What the hell was that?” Malia asked in a hushed tone. “I have no idea, I just felt something like.. different? I don’t know how to describe it.” Allison chimed in, “Guys, I didn’t feel anything?” They both looked up at her, thinking. Malia leaned into Lydia and whispered, “It felt like desire.” This made Lydias eyes wide as she turned her head to look at Malia. She was shocked to hear her admit that, but she had to agree. Whatever it was, they were drawn to it, but Allison felt nothing. They quickly found Scott in the hallway and told him about their encounter in the classroom. Scott was stunned into shock trying to think of a creature capable of what the girls had described when Isaac ran up to them. “Something is wrong.” They all looked up at him awaiting him to continue. “What do you mean?” Scott asked, trying to make sure no one was listening. “I don’t know I was walking in the hall and I just felt.. I don’t know something. I tried to follow it, but I lost it outside a trigonometry class.” Scott’s head perked up, “Which one?” Isaac looked over his shoulder towards the door he remembered, “Uhh.. 207 I think, why?” They all looked expectedly at Scott. “That’s my next class.” They awaited his next words because they knew they needed a plan. “I’ll see if I feel something, but we don’t know anything yet. It could be nothing.” He tried to reassure them, but when three people he trusted dearly all agreed something was off, he knew it had to be true. He just hoped it was something containable or maybe even good. He didn’t know, but he hoped.
When he walked in the room, he felt it. It was almost overwhelming. He tried to stay alert of his surroundings as he scanned the faces in the class. He noticed a few other people doing the same, looking for it – the source of this feeling. All of a sudden he was sitting. He didn’t remember walking to the desk, much less getting his book out and opening it. He had absentmindedly done all this which made him freak out a little. He was still casing the room when he felt it again, but much stronger. It was close. No, it was next to him. He had sat down next to the thing drawing him. It was.. a girl? He didn’t understand what was going on. She had long curly y/c/h, big y/c/e, and a sweet, innocent face. He was stunned at the feeling he was getting just from looking at her. It was like looking at the sun, but without the pain. Sure, she was beautiful, but that wasn’t it. That wasn’t the reason he couldn’t stop staring at her. “Mr. McCall?” It was the teacher. He knew that, but he still couldn’t stop looking at her. He couldn’t. Now everyone was looking at him.. including her. This helped him snap into reality once again. “What?” He looked up at the teacher, still confused and beginning to blush a little. “I think you mean ma’am?” The teacher crossed her arms, probably feeling disrespected at this point. “Yes! ..Ma’am.. I’m sorry.” He repositioned himself to face forward and put his forearms flat on his desk trying to focus on the book.. hell, on anything besides her as the teacher continued. He stared at his syllabus as the teacher went on, but he still felt the same. He still felt drawn to look at her, to talk to her, to touch her – WOAH. Wait. Stop. He’s with Allison. He loves Allison, what is he doing? No.. what is she doing? He wanted to get up and leave. The thoughts were penetrating his brain, but he couldn’t bring himself to move. If he did, he’d be too far from her. Too far from this feeling which was almost.. euphoric. He wanted to be near her. He needed to be near her. What was happening? His own thoughts were uncontrollable and had scared him enough, “Excuse me.” He stated aloud, at no one in particular, as he forced himself up. He grabbed his book and papers off the desk and hurried out of the class with all eyes on him. The teacher, somewhat stunned, continued the lesson. He ran out into the hallway and shoved his hands into his locker door. Not enough to break it, but enough to shake the lock which made a loud clunk on the hard metal door. He unlocked his locker, shoved his book in there and then shoved his head into it. He didn’t know what was going on, but being out of the room made it better. He still felt it, but not as much. His thoughts were spinning and he wondered if the girls had felt the feeling this strongly. And then it was back. The feeling was drowning him again and he could hear her footsteps. He knew it was her because the closer the steps got, the more intense the feeling became. He jerked his head out of his locker to face her. At his quick motion, she jumped back, scared and cautious at the stranger. “Sorry.” He said almost instinctively. He was staring again, but to be fair where else was he supposed to look. She spoke softly, “are you alright?” Oh, god.. even her voice was alluring. He felt the vibrations of her voice through his body, the feeling intensifying even more, if that was even possible. “Yes, yeah I just think I was in the wrong class.” He nodded trying to reassure his shaky words. She tilted her head to the side and looked him up and down like she was observing him. Like she knew he was lying. She stepped closer and he straightened up and held his breath afraid to be that close to her again. She was kind, but assured when she asked, “what are you?” His eyes widened and a knot formed in his stomach. “Uhh, what?” He tried his best to look confused, but it was definitely coming off more scared. She moved closer so she could speak lower, “I’m guessing.. a werewolf?” She tilted her head but gave a small smile. A voice came from him, “yes.”

A Week-ish of Sterek Fics
Hello all! So I recently accidentally fell back into my AO3 bookmarks and have fallen down a rabbit (fox? eh?) hole that leaves me entirely unproductive and sleep deprived but full of feels, so I thought I’d share all of the fics that I’ve rerereread thus far in the last week (it’s over 75 guys) (since friday 😬). Each has the fic name and description, length, and year pub/finished because it makes me feel old. Also all of these are complete because I am weak and cannot handle WIPs.
Note: I’m not adding any tags to the descriptions, so make sure to read the tags and ratings on each fic first before reading!!!

The Hoodie by ladiekatie | 1.7K | 2017
“You shouldn’t be able to see me. What are you?” The guy in the hoodie says, the ball of energy grows hotter under Derek’s chin.

Nothing You Could Say by SylvieW | 13K | 2016
Stiles’ second year of college is not working out as he planned. He rarely sees Scott, his job is exhausting, and to get home after his shift, he has to walk at three in the morning. Nearly getting mugged is the icing on the cake, but luckily a gruff stranger is there to rescue him. But now Stiles can’t seem to shake the feeling that he’s not alone in the dark.
Old Traditions, Werewolf Edition by Footloose | 3.6K | 2014
Stiles does not work his Omega ass off to attract frat boy Alphas. Absolutely not. He's at college to get his degree. If he's crushing on an Alpha who never crosses the lines of propriety, well, no one needs to know, right?
Stiles Stilinski, Boyfriend Extraordinaire by MereLoup | 14K | 2016
“Beacon County Sheriff's Department, this is deputy Mahealani speaking.”
“Oh thank god!”
“Stiles?”
“I, uh, I need some advice.”
“Advice?”
“Yeah. So, hypothetically, say you met your boyfriend’s mother and sister for the first time ever. Completely by accident. In the grocery store. And they convinced you to help them make a dinner to surprise aforementioned boyfriend when he got home after work. What would you do?”
Danny paused, and then, “Stiles, you don’t have a boyfriend.”
“That’s not the point! And I said hypothetically.”
“Stiles...what are you doing right now?”
***
Stiles never imagined he’d be in Derek’s kitchen cooking a surprise dinner with Derek’s family while they waited for Derek to get home from work.
Partly because their visit was a complete surprise.
But mostly because Stiles didn’t have a boyfriend.
Or even know who Derek was.
But he’d already come this far and Papa didn’t raise no quitter!
third time's the charm by stilinski | 4.9K | 2016
Sure, Stiles has a mark on his chest that belies the depth of his feelings, but it's not something anyone can see unless he decides to show it, or unless werewolves suddenly have x-ray vision.
Which—worrying. And probably-definitely-likely a possibility – if it was to manifest anywhere, Beacon Hills would be top of the list.
Stiles almost turns around there and then to ask Scott how his visual acuity is but is stopped by the teenager at the register finally looking up long enough to spot Derek. Stiles watches her mouth fall open and her expression—studiously blank but with a faint flush rising in her cheeks—is one Stiles knows far too well, particularly when faced with Derek in all his snug-fitting-jeans, v-neck-wearing, canvas-jacketed glory.
Stiles is pretty sure he invented that expression.
Ukochany by VincentMeoblinn| 34K | 2016
Derek comes home to find a mail order husband and two amused betas waiting for him. When he realizes their prank was far from harmless he ends up saddled with a husband who barely speaks English but insists Derek is the love of his life. He's also determined to win him over.
only if for a night by stilinskisparkles | 3.2K | 2016
“I’m Stiles,” he says breathlessly.
“Derek.”
“Derek, hi, do you—”
Derek doesn’t let him finish, kisses the words right out of his mouth.
Hypothetically by alisvolatpropiis | 6.6K | 2015
Stiles holds his hand up to shield his eyes from the sinking sun, its orange-yellow light reflected infinitely across the vast, calm ocean. As utterly stunning as the sunset over the Pacific is, especially while floating leisurely on a surfboard a few hundred feet from shore, it’s a mere backdrop that pales in comparison to who he’s looking at.
Derek Hale, whose eyes are their own oceans that Stiles feels like he’s been floating on since the first time they met. The older man’s eyes are as ever-changing and colorful as the sea they’ve spent the day on, a palette of greens and blues filigreed with gold around the pupils. And if that weren’t enough, the rest of Derek is also transcendentally exquisite: high, arching cheekbones and a chiseled jaw, although that particular perfection is a bit obscured these days by his ever-thickening beard, night-black like his hair, nearly shoulder-length but almost always knotted in a messy bun at the crown of his head.
sincerely, derek by stilinskisparkles | 8.1K | 2016
September, 2009
Hi Stiles, it’s Derek. Derek Hale, from space camp. I’m writing this in English because my teacher Ms Grady said I had to write about my summer, but I spent my summer with you, so I decided to write to you, instead.
Please write back. Love from Derek.
Pancakes and Murder by Amethyst Shard (AmethystShard) | 14K | 2012
Stiles' life has been a roller-coaster filled with awesome highs and terrifying drops ever since his best friend Scott got bit by a werewolf. The ride hits a bump when a dead body turns up at the Hale house (again) and Derek's only alibi is Stiles. Which would be fine, except that Stiles' dad is the sheriff and has no idea his son has been hanging out with the former fugitive. Awkward.

Derek Hale, The Hero Beacon Hills Needs (Series) by MellytheHun | 11K | 4 Works | 2016
This series started with this Tumblr prompt, "it’s the middle of the night and i’m walking home alone in the dark and there’s this guy following me and he’s starting to gain on me and i found this phone booth with a lock on the door and i tried to call my best friend but my hands were shaking so badly i accidentally dialed the wrong number and i don’t even know you but help me” au
Stiles is walking home when he's stalked by a dangerous stranger and an even more dangerous stranger comes to his rescue.
Fly a Little Faster by mirrorkill | 32K | 2013
Everyone knows when you go back in time, you shouldn't step on an ant, just in case you accidentally kill your own grandparent or something. But what happens when you go back in time and, uh, accidentally interrupt the one event that apparently made the Grumpiest Alpha in Town into a ball of mindless manpain?
Well, if Marty McFly can do it, so can Stiles Stilinski. All he has to do is get Derek and Paige to fall in love before he gets pulled back to his own time. And before he makes anything worse. That's easy as pie, right? Right?
You are the Moon by skoosiepants | 10K | 2012
Stuff Stiles doesn’t like to deal with first thing: hot, moist dog breath in his face, a cuddly werewolf creepifying his perfectly normal morning wood with shades of bestiality, and his dad holding his service revolver up against the skull of his bedmate, never mind the fact that his bedmate could possibly be a vicious unhinged rogue omega.
Baby, you should stick around by ElisAttack | 9.5K | 2016
Derek's driving along a stretch of highway when an unusual sight makes him slow down, the engine of his old pickup rattling in protest.
There's a kid standing by the side of the road.
It's the middle of nowhere, the goddamn apocalypse, and this kid is standing by the side of the road with his thumb pointed skyward. Like he's playing at being a hitchhiker.
Or the one where Stiles thinks he's all alone in a post-apocalyptic world, until he meets Derek.
Don’t Be Anything But Okay by skoosiepants | 4.8K | 2016
“Oh my god.”
Ben pops open the car door and says, “Please don’t embarrass me, Dad.”
Stiles flaps a hand, still staring at the magnificent sight before him. There are glistening arm muscles and a sweaty tank top and then the vision bends over and holy god. He has to look away; it’s too much to take in all at once, he might swoon.

Stiles was quiet. “What?” Derek said again. “My first heat is coming up soon,” Stiles said at last. Derek closed his eyes, disinterested. He knew where Stiles was going with this. “I was thinking…hoping, really,” Stiles said. “Maybe you could stay with me during that time.”
AU in which wounded in a fire that killed off his entire family, Derek wants nothing more than to be left alone as he finishes off his senior year in high school. That all changes when omega Stiles Stilinski asks him to help him through his first heat.

Stiles slurps at the dregs of his iced hazelnut latté, pretending he doesn’t need a refill just yet. Supporting your local business is great and all, but Isaac charging $5 for a coffee with syrup is highway robbery. He’s already cut his expenses down to the bare minimum, and splurging for foofy drinks is not in the budget. Except that he can’t really help himself: black coffee is plain gross. Maybe I should plan on marrying rich, he thinks darkly.
Or,
Stiles has a huge crush on the super-hot guy he always sees at Isaac's coffee shop, but when he finds out that they guy's an unemployed orphan he has to decide if the difference in their financial situations is a deal-breaker, or just a bump on the path to true love.

“Come on, I shouldn’t be the only one having orgasms. Let me help you out.”
“Uh –” someone clears their throat and Derek jumps, startled, hits his elbow on the wall and curses, “am I interrupting something?” Stiles asks, cheeks red.
Derek looks up, sighing. Of all the people working in this damn school, Stiles had to be the one to catch him and Erica talking about sex. It’s just Derek’s luck. He spills juice on his pants? Stiles walks into the classroom; Laura starts yelling at him about something that happened when they were kids? Stiles is right behind them, waiting for his coffee; Boyd accidentally throws a ball at his face? Stiles is at the E.R. when Derek gets there with a swollen face and a broken nose.
The universe hates him.

Don't Judge a Derek By His Cover by captaintinymite (augopher) | 4.5K | 2015
Stiles doesn't care about the rumors surrounding Beacon Hills High School's resident bad boy, Derek Hale. In fact, he thinks the rumors are total crap. Of course, being secretly in love with someone has a way of clouding one's judgment.
However, he knew for a fact that Derek liked books. So when the two paired up for a final English project, he was excited (but also a little terrified).
But you know what they say...never judge a book by its cover. The same goes for people.

Scott’s mom, Melissa, had given Stiles the basics on Derek’s condition when he’d first come over here a month ago. Derek had been here six years, the only survivor of a horrific house fire that had killed the rest of his family. It had left him burned, half his face puckered with scars, and he’d been in a catatonic state the entire time. Stiles couldn’t even begin to imagine how awful that would be, being trapped in your own body for years on end, all alone.
Stiles had an inkling of how much being alone sucked, anyway.

Masterlist  Prev. | Part 32
Word-count: 4.6k+
A/N: hands up who thought we’d survive getting to senior (technically junior) year?
Tumblr media
The good news: You survived months of professional assassins trying to murder everyone you loved and months of being held prisoner by an evil fox spirit, and you passed all your finals. You were a junior now. The bad news: It was a full moon and you were chained to a tree to keep from murdering your aforementioned loved ones. And the blood on Liam’s hands didn’t make it any easier to stay in control.
You’d been through this so many times with Isaac, Erica, Boyd, Malia, Scott, and Liam, but you never understood how much the moon changed them. You knew about it, on paper, but actually experiencing it was a completely different story.
As cheesy and disgusting as it sounded, focusing on Stiles was the only thing that kept you in control. You’d tried other, less cliche, methods with Scott to prepare but none of them stuck - at least not the way listening to Stiles’ heartbeat stuck.
He was nervous tonight, but not because of you or Liam. He was nervous because tonight was the first phase of his grand plan for the pack to stay together after senior year. If you were going to be stuck in Beacon Hills for another year, you weren’t sure how you fit into that grand plan.
Lightning struck overhead and Stiles’ heart leaped for a second. “Do you think it’s been long enough?” he asked Scott.
“Yes!” Liam yelled from the tree next to you.
“Hey,” Stiles said as they turned to look at the two of you. “We’re trying to have an adult conversation over here. Not you, babe. You’re-”
“Alright, that’s disgusting and you’re only two years older than me,” Liam said. “And I’m fine. Just let me go.”
“Are you sure?” Scott asked as he hopped off the Jeep’s hood. He made his way over with the key for all the locks and chains as the sky rumbled overhead.
Liam complained some more about how of course he was sure and you just tried to not look like you were dying as they came over.
“It’s not that we don’t trust you,” Scott started, doing his best to keep the peace.
“It’s that I don’t trust you,” Stiles said - peace be damned - before looking over to you. “Again, babe, not you-”
“It was one slip up!” Liam whined.
“Slip up?” Stiles repeated. “A dozen calls to the Sheriff's Department about a ‘monstrous dog-boy’ running around the streets of Beacon Hills naked. That slip up?”
You frowned as Stiles helped you out of all the chains. His hands were warm and you leaned on him more than you should have when he held you in his arms. Focusing on staying in control and blocking out the impending storm was a lot more tiring than you expected. “Hey, biscuit, why were you naked?”
“It was really hot out that night, okay?” Liam said defensively. “Let me go. It won’t happen again.”
“You’re in complete and total control?” Scott asked.
You wanted to say something about the blood but something in Liam’s face changed your mind. He’d been so sweet with helping you these past few nights; it kind of felt like you owed him one.
“Yeah,” Liam lied. “Complete and total.”
“Great, then let’s get on the road,” Stiles said, squeezing your arm for a second before letting go to scoop up all the chains.
You walked ahead with Scott so you could get settled in the backseat of the Jeep. You sighed and leaned your head against the window as you tried to breathe. Scott was leaning in through the window and looking at you when you opened your eyes again.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“I think so,” you said. “Still a little new at this.”
“You’re doing great,” Scott said with a smile. He tapped against the side of the Jeep before moving out of the way so Liam could pile in.
Liam and Stiles had been arguing from the moment they got in the car to the moment Stiles pulled over to check what was wrong with the Jeep, and the ceasefire was only because you and Liam had to stay in the car. Liam looked at you for a second before offering you one of his earbuds. You shook your head and he shrugged before popping one in his ear.
You yanked it out as lightning struck the ground about fifty feet away. The sound made your skull want to explode. “Did you see that?”
“See what?” Liam asked.
The lightning struck again and the two of you jumped in your seats. Both of you scrambled to hang out the Jeep’s windows, despite the strike still ricocheting through your head.
“Guys!”
“Yeah, give us a second, please,” Stiles said, ripping another piece of duct tape for the engine.
“Just stay in the car, okay?” Scott asked.
“We’re still in the car but-” you were cut off by another lightning strike, this time maybe ten feet away from where Scott and Stiles were fiddling with the engine.
Stiles’ heartbeat raced. “That was close,” he said, sounding calmer than he felt. “Very close.”
Scott slammed the Jeep’s hood shut a second before it kicked back to life. You’d never seen the two of them jump like that because of an inanimate object. Well, excluding that time in sixth grade but you tried not to dwell on it.
“Okay, will you please get in the car now?” you asked, voice strained. You didn’t like the sound of Stiles’ heart beating like that and you definitely didn’t like how close that lightning was.
All the excitement made you lose control for a second and you dug your nails into your palms to keep your cool. Pain made you human. Pain made you- Stiles slipped his hand through the gap between the door and his seat. Maybe pain wasn’t the only thing that made you human.
You held his hand the rest of the way to Malia’s. Usually, you were the one that got smushed into the middle seat, but tonight you made Liam do it. No one seemed to mind until he brought up Malia’s super secret summer school adventure.
“You told him?” Malia asked.
“Oh, no. All they said was that you had to go to summer school ‘cause the principal said your test scores weren’t good enough and you might have to repeat junior year,” Liam said with a smile.
“We should’ve left him chained to the tree,” Stiles mumbled under the wrath of Malia’s glare.
Malia tightened her jaw and you reached your hand over Liam to find her. “Hey,” you said gently. “I went to summer school too, remember?”
Malia didn’t say anything else for the rest of the drive to the hospital, and you didn’t think she’d say anything else while the two of you waited in the hospital for Scott and Stiles to get back.
“I still don’t know why you and I are here,” she said eventually, arms crossed over her chest.
“Because I’m not a senior and you’re undetermined?” you asked, turning around to look at her. You closed your eyes for a second to block out the hospital lights.
Malia didn’t notice. “I just think … shouldn’t we wait until we know for sure?”
“Probably,” you said with a sigh. “But this is really important to Stiles, so even if I’m not technically allowed at Senior Scribe, I’m still gonna- Oh, here they come. That’s still so weird.”
“You get used to it,” Malia shrugged.
“-Like what?” Scott asked when they were close enough.
“Like, uh, ‘Don’t worry, we’re not exclusive. Go have fun with other guys,’” Stiles said.
“What? No, no way,” Scott said.
Stiles turned to you and Malia. “Uh, ladies, if you were going away and the person you’re dating said ‘Don’t worry, go have fun,’ what would you think they were talking about?”
“You mean fun like sex with other people?” Malia asked.
You popped your head around her to look at Scott and Stiles. “Or fun like bowling?”
“Okay, yeah, now I’m worried,” Scott mumbled as he pulled his phone out to check something. Some paramedics rolled a patient passed you and he looked up to your mom. “Hey, Mom, where’s all this coming from?”
“A jackknifed tractor-trailer on 115 caused a major pile up,” Mel said over her shoulder.
“Okay, okay, there’s only one way back into Beacon Hills from the airport,” Stiles said, taking a breath. “Kira’s never gonna make it.”
“I can get her,” Scott said, already walking out the door. “You guys head to the school. Lydia’s probably already there. We’ll meet you by midnight-”
You hated the sound of that plan. “Scott, is that really such a good idea with the-”
“By midnight,” Scott said. “Promise.”
---
Siles hadn’t wanted you to stay at the hospital with Liam, but he gave in when he realized that you’d have to wait in the Jeep in the storm and remembered how much you hated storms. It was a good thing too because Liam came running up to you in the waiting room maybe half an hour after everyone left babbling about Scott and something that attacked Parrish.
After getting some clarification, the two of you ran to the school. The blood pumping through your body and the power in your muscles made you feel alive again. You hadn’t felt like this in such a long time that you almost didn’t want to stop.
Then you remembered that some guy with power-stealing talons was after your brother.
It took a second to process the scene in front of you: Scott had been thrown against the wall and Kira was crumbled a few feet away from the biggest, angriest werewolf you’d ever seen.
Your second was up and you ran at him from behind, legs wrapping around his waist and using the crook of your elbow to cut off his air supply as you applied pressure to the back of his head with your other hand. He struggled against you but your grip was too tight. He slammed you against the wall and you could have sworn your ribs started cracking the second time he did. When you started losing your grip, you panicked and gripped a fistful of his hair to pull his neck to the side. You sank your teeth into his neck.
It was revolting.
Metallic.
He used your surprise to slam you into the wall again, this time coming loose from your grip completely. He picked you up off the floor by your neck, sliding you up the wall as you sputtered his blood back onto his hand.
That’s when it happened. He dropped out of the sky and made a bee-line for where you were fighting for your life. The taloned werewolf dropped you to deal with the new threat.
You spat out any remaining blood on the concrete and tried to breathe again as you watched them fight. The new guy clearly knew what he was doing but that didn’t stop the big guy from knocking him down and going for Scott again.
He sank his claws into your brother’s stomach just as Liam and the others got there. You struggled to your feet but Scott had it handled; he rose up and broke the werewolf’s arm before pulling the leftover claws out of his stomach.
“I don’t know who you are or what you thought you were going to do, but I’ll give you a choice,” Scott told him. “You can stay and I’ll break something else. Or you can run.”
The werewolf looked between Scott and the rest of you.
“I’d run,” Stiles said.
The taloned werewolf hobbled out into the rain and disappeared into the dark as you ran over to Scott. He pushed away your attempts to check on him, instead using his sleeve to wipe your chin. He didn’t seem happy with the result but the others were closing the distance and he didn’t have the time to fuss anymore.
Your friends made a semi-circle around Scott and appraised the new guy. He wasn’t one of you, but he helped.
The new guy laughed as he came over, amused by everyone’s clear distrust of him. “You don’t remember me, do you?” he asked. “I guess I look a little different since the fourth grade.”
“Theo?” Scott asked.
Your eyes shot over to Stiles’. Theo Raeken? your look asked.
No way in hell, his look answered.
“You know him?” Malia asked.
“They used to,” Theo said. “Trust me, I never thought I’d see you guys again. Couple of months ago, I heard of an Alpha in Beacon Hills, and when I found out his name was Scott McCall … I just couldn’t believe it. Not just an Alpha, but a True Alpha.”
“What do you want?” Scott asked.
“I came back to Beacon Hills - back home with my family - because I want to be part of your pack,” Theo said.
“Sorry,” you said. Theo’s eyes drifted to you and you couldn’t tell if he was impressed by how much you’d changed or by the bloodstains on your chin. “We’re at capacity. Try again next year.”
Scott turned to you with a sigh. “Y/N-”
“No, Scott, it’s okay,” Theo said. He was dangerously calm. “I’m here to stay, so you guys take your time. Think about it. You know where to find me.”
---
“And?” you asked as Stiles piled back into the Jeep. He sighed as he slammed the door shut behind him. “Did your dad buy your pretty please?”
“No, but he did buy my threat to rope Parrish in, which worked just as well,” Stiles said, pulling his seatbelt out and buckling it in. “Theo’s got a speeding ticket.”
“That’s it?” you asked.
“What do you mean that’s it?” Stiles asked. “One single speeding ticket from eight years ago, signed by his dad. That’s suspicious. Who speeds?”
“Everyone speeds. You speed,” you said. You bit your lip and tapped your fingers on your leg. “But I still don’t trust him.”
“You don’t?” Stiles asked. “Didn’t you used to have a crush on him?”
“Ew, no!” you scoffed. “I hated that little creep.”
“But you were always so mean to him,” Stiles said. “I thought that meant you had a crush on someone in the fourth grade.”
“Well, I was in the third grade and back then being mean to people just meant you didn’t like them,” you said. You interlaced your fingers with Stiles’ over the gearshift. “Besides, you’re the only one I’ve ever had a crush on.”
“Aww, you had a crush on me?” Stiles asked. “That’s kind of lame, babe.”
“We’re literally dating.”
“Still.”
Stiles always drove you to school on the first day, and you thought that would make you feel less nervous but your nerves sky-rocketed the second you got into the school. Everything was too loud, too bright, and too overwhelming. So when Stiles found you between fourth and fifth period saying he and Scott were going to interrogate Theo, you jumped at the chance.
Theo didn’t seem to mind your presence in the locker room so much, but Scott didn’t seem to like you skipping classes on the first day of school. It was difficult to care about Scott’s disapproval when you knew you’d have torn the throat out of the next kid who asked to borrow a pencil.
Theo’s story about skateboarding and getting injured was convincing enough. The details made it seem real and the parts he skipped kept it concise; either you and Stiles were paranoid or he was a really good liar.
“Right. So why aren’t you part of his pack then?” Stiles asked. You and him were leaning against the lockers a few feet away from where Scott and Theo were talking, but you were pretty sure they could feel his distrust from all the way over there. “Why didn’t he come back for you?”
“Because, by the time of my first full moon, he was dead,” Theo answered.
“And you know this how?” you asked.
“I met another one of his pack a couple weeks later,” Theo said, nodding his head at you. “He told me the Alpha that bit me was killed by two of his own Betas. They were twins.”
Scott looked over at you and Stiles. The twins had to be Ethan and Aiden, but they had to kill their whole pack to get in with Deucalion. Did they let someone live like Kali did?
“Scott, listen to my pulse,” Theo said. “I’m telling the truth.”
“Right, or you just know how to steady your heart rate while lying your ass off,” Stiles said as he pushed himself off the lockers.
“Why would I lie?” Theo asked.
“Because maybe you’re not who you say you are,” Stiles said.
“Okay, uh-” Theo took a breath and looked over at Scott. “In the fourth grade, you had an inhaler. I had one too. I remember this day where I ended up in the nurse’s office with an asthma attack. A bad one. I was waiting to be taken to the ER, you were waiting for the principal. You told me what would happen when you go to the ER for asthma. How they give you oxygen, an IV of prednisone. You made it sound easy. Like everything would be okay.”
Stiles rolled his eyes next to you but you put a hand on his shoulder. You were trying to focus on Theo’s heartbeat and that was difficult with all the sarcasm next to you.
“I’ve been by myself this whole time. Everybody knows that lone wolves- they don’t make it on their own,” Theo continued. “I swear I’m that same kid from fourth grade. I was hoping you are too.”
The bell rang out before Scott got the chance to answer. Theo mumbled something about making a good impression as he left and you and Stiles drifted closer to Scott. He seemed convinced but you knew Scott wouldn’t do anything without Stiles’ blessing.
“No,” Stiles said. “Don’t give me that look.”
“We have to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes,” Scott said.
“Not this time!” Stiles argued. “I’m right. There’s something off about him. I can feel it.”
“You can’t seriously trust him after all this time, can you?” you asked.
“You trusted Isaac after not seeing him for years,” Scott said. “You trusted him more than me, remember?”
“That was different. That was Isaac,” you said. The second bell rang out and you sighed. “We’ll talk later, okay?” You squeezed Scott’s arm and kissed Stiles’ cheek. “I’ll meet you guys in the library after school.”
As you left, you could still hear the two of them bickering over the benefit of the doubt. Scott had a point, but you didn’t like Theo when he was ten years old and you sure as hell didn’t like him now.
You put your bad feelings on hold as you got through the rest of your day, and you couldn’t mention them during your study session at the library. Malia got seriously annoyed when people interrupted her train of thought, and you weren’t going to be the unlucky victim of one of her glares. Thankfully, Stiles took your place.
He burst through the library and slapped two pieces of paper down on the table in front of you. He leaned on the back of your chair as he waited for one of you to say something.
“So you found something?” Scott asked.
“Another signature,” Stiles answered. “This is Theo’s dad’s signature on a speeding ticket from eight years ago.” He tapped the speeding ticket to prove his point before moving onto the next piece of paper. “And this is his dad’s signature on a transfer form to Beacon Hills High School from just a few days ago.”
“How did you get his transfer form?” Kira asked.
“You didn’t break into the Administration Office, did you?” Scott asked.
“No, I did not break into the Administration Office,” Stiles scoffed. You tilted your head up to look at him. “What? Okay, I might have broken into the Administration Office. Can we just focus on the signatures, please?” He tapped the papers again. “They’re different.”
“They’re sort of different,” Malia said.
“They’re completely different!” Stiles said. “Come on. Look: the garlands don’t match, the undulations of the sinuous stroke are totally off. And look- look at this. Perfect example of the Criminal Tremor.”
“So now, Theo is Theo, but his parents aren’t his parents?” Kira asked.
“Someone’s not someone,” Stiles said.
You slid the papers around and looked at them. Malia was right about them being ‘sort of different,’ but how many receipts had you signed that your signatures looked nothing alike? The key to a good forgery was getting it as similar as possible, and these signatures were pretty damn similar.
“And when I figure out who that someone really is,” Stiles continued, “Someone’s in big trouble.”
“But no one’s actually done anything wrong,” Scott said hesitantly.
“Yet!” Stiles said. “If Theo’s parents are both psychotic killers, then obviously we shouldn’t trust him, right?”
“My parents are Peter and The Desert Wolf,” Malia said.
“Okay-” Stiles rubbed his forehead. “It’s fine. You know what? I’ll figure it out myself. Alright? I don’t need you or you or you.” He paused when he saw the look on your face and relented slightly, “Okay, I kind of need you, but not right now. Right now, I don’t need anyone!”
Stiles blew out of the library just as quickly and dramatically as he came in.
You sighed and started closing your books. Shoving your books into your bag, you said, “I’m gonna follow him. You coming?”
“Duh,” Scott said. He was already standing with his bag on his back.
---
You and Scott stood next to the Jeep for what felt like hours waiting for Stiles and Liam to get back. While you did, you argued about why you couldn’t follow them through the woods (because you’re not there to spy on them!), Scott asked you why you were skipping classes on the first day (because you just needed a break!), and the both of you wished they’d just come out of the damn woods already.
It wasn’t that you and Scott didn’t get along, it was just that things were more intense since you’d died. Everything was heightened and the only person that really understood that was Scott, so he got the worst of your outbursts. To be fair, it never lasted long. The two of you had made up long before Stiles and Liam showed up.
“Find anything?” Scott asked.
“Nope,” Stiles lied, heading for the driver’s side of the Jeep.
“I fell in a hole,” Liam said with an unusual smile.
“Right on, buddy,” you said, putting an arm around him and walking him a few feet back to give them some space.
The Jeep started stammering again when Stiles tried to turn it on. He called your name and asked you to get in the front seat and turn the ignition when he asked. You did as he said as he popped up the Jeep’s hood. You tried the Jeep and it sputtered again. Scott tried to talk to Stiles and he argued. You tried the Jeep again and it faltered. Scott tried to talk to Stiles again and he exploded.
“Why can’t you trust anyone?” Scott asked.
“Because you trust everyone!” Stiles yelled. He slammed his fist into the engine and you felt the vibrations in your seat and the impact in your bones.
You started opening the door but Liam reached out for your arm across the gearshift. “Stiles-”
“Are you okay?” Scott asked.
“I’m fine,” Stiles lied. His heart was racing, but that didn’t shake out the sound of his fist hitting the metal out of your head.
“It could be broken,” you said quietly, mostly to yourself than to Liam or anyone else. “He could’ve broken his hand.”
You couldn’t focus on anything else until the Jeep kicked back to life underneath you. Looking up, you met Stiles’ eyes through the windshield - you didn’t know who looked like more ready to cry.
“Get in,” you said. “I’ll take you home. Scott can take Liam.”
“But I-”
“I can take you home,” Scott said. He nodded at you as Liam got out of the car. The two of them drove away before Stiles even got in the car.
The door came to a deafeningly quiet close and you didn’t know what to say to him so you didn’t. You didn’t realize this was bothering him so much. Maybe it wasn’t this specifically, but this in general. The ever-changing this.
“Look, I know you think I’m crazy but I just don’t trust him, okay?” Stiles said. He was trying so hard to keep his voice level. “There’s something about him. Something off. I can feel it and I- I just need to prove it.”
“I didn’t think you were crazy,” you said. “I’ve never thought you were crazy, Stiles. Not now. Not when you were in Eichen. Not even when you were thirteen and convinced me that stealing a police cruiser was a good idea.” You shook your head and started the car. “I just wish you’d talked to me.”
“I know,” Stiles said with a sigh. He rubbed his forehead again, and then he winced at the pain in his hand. “I’m sorry.”
Neither of you said anything for the rest of the drive home, but after five minutes, Stiles moved his hand over to yours on the gearshift. It was cold, still a bit shaky, and it made your heart race just like it always did.
The first things you did when you got to the Stilinski’s was shower and get changed. Melissa said she’d take you home after her hospital shift, but you weren’t sure you could wait that long to get something to eat. It had been a long day. Rubbing your face, you stumbled back to Stiles’ room.
He was sitting on his bed, staring at his conspiracy boards, but he leaned over and grabbed a very familiar metal bottle from the nightstand. “Come on, it’s been at least 12 hours since you had anything.”
“Stiles, I can’t eat in front of you.” You looked down and knocked on the door frame. “It’s pretty morbid.”
“Babe, I’ve seen morbid and this isn’t it,” Stiles said. You weren’t convinced so he held out the bottle again. “Please? Then we can get some sleep.”
“Okay,” you said softly.
You sat on the floor in front of his bed and unscrewed the top. The sticky sweet smell hit you like a ton of bricks and you downed it in a matter of minutes. It felt like a disgusting breath of fresh air.
Stiles put a hand on your shoulder and you rested your head on his knee. He ran a hand through your hair and the two of you stayed like that for a few moments before you got up and sat on the bed with him.
“Why does it feel-” you started with a sigh as you pushed some hair out of Stiles’ face “-like everything’s already overwhelming and depressing?”
“Because school started and everyone always tries to kill us when school starts,” Stiles sighed. He pressed a kiss to your temple and pulled you into his chest. Listening to his heart like this was always better than using super-hearing to listen from afar.
“I won’t let anyone kill you,” you said, fingers tracing patterns on his chest.
“Yeah, I know,” Stiles said. His arms tightened around your waist. “No matter what, right?”
“I think we might have to find a new thing,” you said. “The nogitsune … why don’t you just tell me you love me?”
“I love you,” Stiles said without missing a beat.
You leaned up and kissed his jaw. “I love you too.”

A Crooked Way to Fly by andavs [14k G]
“We can’t just leave him here to die.”
“He’s an emissary, Scott.” Derek tried to make his tone empathetic, but Scott’s tendency to fight back on everything always grated on his nerves. “His pack is gone, he won’t survive more than a day or two either way.”
“Then we should stay with him.”
Derek sighed as he studied the man for a moment; he was too pale against the fur rim of his hood, almost grey from lying out in the snow, and his cloak was stained with dark dried blood around a protruding arrow shaft. It was unlikely he would even last the night. They would probably be able to carry on in the morning with little time lost, if any.
It wasn’t a horrible idea, Derek decided reluctantly. They hadn’t been able to set up a real camp for a few weeks in the open foothills, and they were all on edge from sleeping in exposed areas. A defensible place to sleep would be good for them, even if they were surrounded by death. They would be able to give the pack proper burials, at the very least.
“Fine. One night,” Derek relented, already moving away to check on Isaac. “He’s your responsibility.”
Put Down in Words by paintedrecs [203k, M]
“Oh,” Stiles said, his voice coming out low and breathy, “fuck me.”
“I don’t think that’s on the syllabus, but we can check to see if there’s a spot open in any of his classes,” Scott said, grinning.
“This isn’t an actual professor, though,” Stiles insisted, unable to resist brushing his thumb over the sharp line of the man’s bearded jaw. He was laughing at something off-camera, the shot taken in three-quarters view, his coat collar casually rumpled and opened to reveal a sliver of a simple grey t-shirt. The whole thing was deliberately calculated to lend him a more accessible feel, and god help him, Stiles was falling for it.
*
When Stiles signed up for Dr. Hale’s intro to history class, he had two goals: knock out the credits his advisor was bugging him to complete before he graduated, and spend a few hours a week daydreaming about his sexy professor’s salt and pepper beard.
Derek, a few months away from turning forty and not sure when his life had started feeling so damn lonely, had never encountered someone like Stiles before. Bright-eyed, sharp-tongued, determined to throw Derek’s carefully cultivated world into disarray…and absolutely the last person Derek should be falling in love with.
Cupboard Love by mklutz [32k, G]
He’s carefully balancing the sandwiches and the two biggest tupperware containers he could find that both had functioning lids when the front door opens and he almost drops everything right there in front of the stupid fountain.
If that’s Derek Hale, he’s definitely not a mountain man.
One life stand by Vendelin [84k, E]
Stiles is used to selling himself to make ends meet. But it's getting harder to keep those ends meeting, and there's only so much of Stiles to go around. Until a too-fancy car shows up in his neighborhood, and he meets Derek Hale.
All Derek wants is Stiles's time, someone to stay on his arm for events and smile for the cameras. It's the easiest job Stiles has ever had, the best-paying one he's ever had, and he's more than happy to sign up.
Derek is everything and nothing Stiles expects him to be, with his tailored suits, sharp mind and his quiet way of caring. But it's just a job and Stiles never meant to fall in love.
In Other Words, Baby, Kiss Me by primroseshows [61k, E]
Stiles has simple goals in life. To successfully complete his secret radar project without getting fired, to get a cottage on the Moon, and to untangle his mess of feelings for Moon Station 3 deputy, Derek Hale. Heck, he'll even settle for two of the three.
The Circus at the End of the World by mikkimouse [91k, E]
Three hundred years ago, the world ended not with a bang or a whimper, but with magic.
Since then, magic has been outlawed, and the world has clawed its way back to some kind of stability, with people and shifters alike divided between living within the walled safety of the Havens, or the small, less protected outposts dotting the frontier.
Derek Hale and his sisters, Laura and Cora, are the proprietors of Hale's Circus of Magic, Monsters, and Mystical Wonders, known colloquially as the Circus at the End of the World. They and their ragtag pack ride the rails between the outposts and the Havens, performing for those who can pay (and some who can't). Their circus is a small haven in and of itself, a place of safety for those who have nowhere else to go.
It's a quiet life...until Stiles Stilinski joins the crew.
The circus has something Stiles needs—a ticket into the Haven of Santa Francesca. His father has been abducted, and Stiles is determined to get him back no matter what he has to do.
But Stiles has another secret, one that puts him and every member of the circus in danger. And if he's not careful, it could get them all killed.
The Silent Fury by andavs, rosepetals42 [31k, M]
Derek is about to leave, content with the smell of blood as proof that the Fury is dead when he hears it.
A heartbeat.
It’s faint and uneven and even with its help, it takes Derek a full minute of scanning the clearing before he finally spots the small heap that must be the human. It’s down on the far side of the canyon, almost completely hidden by a tall oak tree and–Derek jumps down before he thinks about it.
He knows what he has to do. Furies are dangerous. Furies are fire and smoke and a funeral he barely remembers. He lands almost silently and makes sure his hands are fully shifted into claws and then slowly moves forward.

Kindred Spirits by Stoney [104k, E]
Anne of Green Gables/Teen Wolf AU.Stiles is the adopted son of the Sheriff, brought to Beacon Hills to hopefully stay for good. A family, a best friend, school, Jackson as Josie Pye (because who else could he be?) and the mystery of a dark haired, green-eyed boy which leads Stiles to discovering a secret within himself.
Sell Your Body to the Night by Dira Sudis (dsudis) [121k, E]
"No," he repeated impatiently. "I'm not a cop. I'm someone who wants to exchange my money for your sexual services. I was told you were in that line of work."
"I, uh, yeah, sorry," Stiles said. He glanced around again and then up--the full moon was almost directly overhead. Just one of those nights, maybe. "Yeah, I am. I do that."
But Then What... by Stoney [24k, E]
Senior year is almost over, and all Stiles needs to do is keep his head down to survive. A teacher calls in a favor, leaving him stuck tutoring Derek Hale, one of the most popular jocks in school and a member of a group of douchecanoes who have bullied Stiles for years. He's someone Stiles totally hates. Totally. Like, doesn't like him even a little bit. DEFINITELY isn't attracted to him.
Except that is a total lie. Fuck his life, seriously.Senior year is almost over, and all Stiles needs to do is keep his head down to survive. Don't Speak by fatale [68k, T]
The Alpha pack has systematically attacked Stiles and his friends for months, testing their strengths and weaknesses. When one of the Alphas goes after Stiles, he awakens in the hospital and realizes that something's wrong. Very wrong. All sounds seem to hurt him, he can't understand what anyone is saying, and when he tries to speak, it's gibberish. How is he supposed to deal with the fact that he's lost the ability to communicate with his dad and his friends?
Without his ability to talk, his sarcasm, and his wit, what does Stiles even have left? Enter Derek, the only one who seems to make it better.

“What the hell kind of a name is Stiles?” he asked.
“You know, a series of sounds spoken in a particular sequence that represent my identity, primarily, referring to me?“ the AI – Stiles – answered cheekily, crossing his own arms in front of his chest, mirroring Derek’s position.
“Ooh, this one’s feisty,” Peter smirked.

"So this is what Stiles does. He lies in Scott’s bed and waits for Melissa to say she’s found someone to get it out of him, to cure him of the wrongness and the bad, and he dreams.
God, he dreams.
He dreams of fire and swollen bellies and that scene in Alien, of giving birth to jackals through his urethra, the whole horrific nine yards. His head is a terrible place to be, he can’t imagine his stomach is much better, why anyone would want to put a thing inside of it."

“At least your puppies knock first,” Stiles snorts. “Here I thought their alpha raised them to be well-mannered.”
“There’s a sign,” Derek responds stiffly.
Stiles, whose curiosity outweighs even his hardest of grudges, abandons his chilly façade of nonchalance in a heartbeat. He jumps right up and all but pushes Derek out of the way in his effort to get to the window, and sure enough when he leans outside there’s a laminated strip of cardstock duct taped to the vinyl siding:

Everyone knows when you go back in time, you shouldn't step on an ant, just in case you accidentally kill your own grandparent or something. But what happens when you go back in time and, uh, accidentally interrupt the one event that apparently made the Grumpiest Alpha in Town into a ball of mindless manpain?
Well, if Marty McFly can do it, so can Stiles Stilinski. All he has to do is get Derek and Paige to fall in love before he gets pulled back to his own time. And before he makes anything worse. That's easy as pie, right? Right?
Enemy Lines by qhuinn (tekla) [149k, E]
This is the story of werewolf Derek Hale and human Stiles Stilinski: two people who grew up in the same town but completely different worlds, their realities split by the war between men and wolves.
Years later when Derek returns to Beacon Hills, he does it as Alpha of a military pack on a mission to capture those responsible for the region’s resistance. With his main objective, Sheriff Stilinski, out of sight, he settles for the next best thing: his son, Stiles.
Neither of them suspects they’ll need to trust each other if they want to make it out this alive.
an exaltation of larks by llassah [25k, E]
There are times when he feels as if they could fall into bed together, easy as breathing. If Stiles were not highborn, if he were an omega without connections, Derek would be sorely tempted. As it is, he resists. Derek wants, he yearns, but he resists. Still, the sight of Stiles in his cot is enough to test him, even now that it is familiar. At the end of each lambing season, he sleeps for a week, worn down by months of hard work, of relentless struggle. He doesn’t know how he’ll feel by the time Stiles leaves, how he’ll feel after long days and longer nights spent resisting the insistent tug of Stiles’s scent and the inclinations of his own foolish heart.
All Derek wants is to get through the lambing season with his body and spirit intact. He had thought that the blizzards would be the main danger, not a highborn omega with beautiful eyes and a stubborn streak.

So far, college has taught Stiles three things:
1) Eight am classes are cruel and unusual and should be avoided at all costs, even if it means having to enroll in something truly hideous instead, like Econ 101.
2) Dorm security is just as tight as Stiles’ orientation leader had promised it would be, and the dude guarding Scott’s dorm in particular does not respond well to bribes.
3) Mrs. McCall clearly had no clue what she was talking about when she’d insisted that Scott and Stiles needed to branch out and room with strangers, so it’s all her fault that Scott ended up with a total dick of a roommate and Stiles got stuck all the way across campus with some guy who has a girlfriend two towns over and is thus never around.
Or, the one where pledge brothers Stiles and Scott start a prank war with Derek Hale's fraternity.

What I Did On My Summer Vacation by grimm [118k, E]
There's something weird about Beacon Hills that Stiles can't quite put his finger on. The way everyone in town knows his name the day he arrives. The way they insist the melancholic howling that echoes through the forest every night is just a dog. The way his dad denies getting a dog, even though Stiles comes home to find one sprawled across his bed, some big black thing whose eyes gleam red in the right light. The way that massive oak tree out in the woods vibrates under his touch, pulsing with sickly life.
There's something weird going on in this town, and Stiles is determined to get to the bottom of it.

Trust Fall by Stoney [144k, T]
Stiles is fairly certain that a case could be made for every bad thing in his life coming back to Peter Hale. This time it's pissing off a powerful witch, who retaliated by swapping Stiles and Derek a la Freaky Friday, because sure. That makes sense. Um, there are GPAs on the line, not to mention the whole thing where his dad wants to shoot Derek on sight. Except who he sees as Derek is actually Stiles, and Stiles did not sign up for filicide.
Great. Wait...does this mean he's the Alpha until they figure this out? Holy. Shit.****
Derek had stood in front of the bathroom mirror for a few minutes trying to control the panic as he saw himself as Stiles. As the loud mouthed human friend of the pack. He was going to kill Peter. He was going to kill the witch, then he was going to kill Peter. Maybe even resurrect him again just to kill him all over.
They were going to have to play this cool. They would have to stay calm and focused. Which is of course why the universe threw him into this situation with someone who physically couldn't be calm and focused.
Of course.

I'll Come Back For You
In honor of this holiday that I hate, I'm posting a fic I wrote a few months ago. It's only lightly edited, you've been warned. The rear view mirror kept fogging up as the night air cooled and Derek's breathing grew labored. He kept swiping at it with his sleeve before flicking the vents on, the 'Now Leaving Beacon Hills' sign practically glowed as he slowed passed it. It was only real once he couldn't feel the supernatural pull from the Nemeton but this, this right here was the goodbye. Flicking on his blinker he edged over to the side of the road and stopped, caution lights flashing as he leaned back in his seat. He had thought of leaving time and again, hell he had left on several occasions but he somehow found himself returning. This time he knew it was different, he knew without a doubt he'd be back but the when and if it'd even matter, were open ended. With a deep inhale he picked his phone up from the center console and scrolled through his contacts. So goodbye's weren't his thing, he had cleaned up his loft and locked it up, he had nothing of real value in it anyway and then he'd grabbed his one bag and drove off. Scott was doing fine as Alpha, the pack would be all right, and now that the biggest threats had been dealt with, Derek didn't see a reason to stay. Well, no reason but one. Even with that reason he knew he had to go, that reason was almost his main purpose for going. His screen flashed as he debated what to type and Cora's name popped up, with a half smile he answered. "Hey Cora." "What're you doing up, shouldn't you old men be sleeping at this hour?" Derek smirked, "If I should be sleeping then why did you call?" "I saw your text, you're coming here?" "For a bit." "Why," the suspicion was clear in her voice. "I need out of Beacon Hills," he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Well, see you soon, I guess?" "Would you rather I didn't?" "Derek," she huffed. "I want you to come, okay?" When he hung up he felt his heart swell just a bit, ever since the stint with the Alpha's he couldn't help but feel that Cora wished she'd never heard he was alive but lately, they'd been texting, time with her seemed like a good idea. He just needed to send out one last text, one last person he had to reach out to and let them know, he'd be back, one day. The question was: should they know he'd be back for them? Stiles senior year had been horrendous, legitimately so, the entire year had been an exhausting feat and he absolutely could not wait for it to be over. Graduation had taken far too long but his last day? It was like the world decided to spin even slower, maybe a witch showed up and slowed down time? Were witches a thing yet? Dread doctors were, so why the hell not. "We're free man," Scott shouted as he threw an arm around Stiles shoulders while they left the building. "Yeah, if you consider that we now have to spend at least 4 more years in college with no sleep, finals, having to have a career decided before we even get out in the world." Scott blinked slowly at him, "You really need to go out bro." "I'm gonna go home and sleep for a month dude, we finally have a break in the supernatural and school." Of course he spoke to soon, of course two days after making that comment Stiles would be standing in the preserve and soaked from head to toe in green- well to be honest, he didn't even know. And of course! Witches were real but they weren't humble or kindly or even remotely like the stories involving Wiccans were. Note-to-the-world: Wiccans and Witches are NOT the same. "Stiles!" Scott roared. "Can't move buddy," Stiles feet felt like lead, his fingers twitched. Scott tackled him to ground before the blast of light from the witch hit him, she -it- was screeching its head off. This particular baddie of the week had shown up not even 24 hours ago and had tried to slip off with half a dozen children from the nearby playground. When a parent confronted it, it had poisoned him and he was now in intensive care. The children were safe, as Liam had been in the area and had attacked shortly after, he had his arm broken and freaked out all the parents who attempted to call 911 only for him to runaway. Stiles sighed as Scott shouted for him to stay down, like he could move anyway, what was he even doing here? Lately every time he was involved he was seriously injured or basically paralyzed and useless. The witch was eventually taken down and locked within mountain ash, Deaton said these witches were more like manifestations then actual beings and he would 'handle' it. What that meant, no one knew but he'd shown up just in time to take it away. As Stiles arrived home, in his old lacrosse gear because to be honest, the green gunk was never going to wash out of his clothes he couldn't help but feel the pull of exhaustion. After a long shower and several scrubs, he crawled into bed, unlocking his phone. He wondered what the pack was going to do? Scott decided to stay nearby for school and of course Liam was still in high school but Malia was traveling across the states to stay with an aunt for the summer and look at schools over there. Lydia was given early admission to MIT and was leaving in a week, Kira had gone back to Japan months ago. No one knew but she frequently emailed Stiles, her mother was training her to control herself which she was doing amazing on, by this point. Theo, though Stiles really couldn't care, was also finishing up high school. Isaac had come back but he was already talking about returning to France. Stiles, well he hadn't made a decision about school but he would, eventually. And Derek... An ache strained the muscles of his heart at the thought of Derek, he'd vanished on everyone one night over a year ago. Stiles didn't really blame him, it wasn't like Beacon Hills had been any type of good to him but still. The lack of farewell had made Stiles angry with him for months, it simmered down when logic caught up though. No one had any idea where Derek was, not even his deranged, and now out of Eichen house by the way, Uncle. Then again, Peter didn't know where Cora was either, in fact he wasn't allowed to know. And Malia denied him contact, it didn't matter that he was her biological father, she didn't want to see him. Peter was alone now. Popped up occasionally during baddie issues, at least the ones he had caused, like the Alpha who had come in claiming Peter was the father of her son. Turns out he wasn't but she'd sure thrown a fit and caused a bunch of territory fights because "her son deserved the Hale territory". Yeah, they sure could have used Derek right then. Scott had claims of the area but he also had grown to respect Derek and as far as anyone else was concerned, Beacon Hills was McCall-Hale space. Stiles finally scrolled to Derek's name in his phone, he stared at the message button, he never dared to call. Well, he had yet to even dare a text but he wanted to, he wanted to reach out and at least let him know he was missed. He bit his lip as he clicked the the little envelope and sucked in a breath as he typed - 'So witches are real?' - backspaced. 'How do I wash green goop from a witch out of my favorite shirt?' - he backspaced again. 'The pack' - he erased it. 'I miss you' - his thumb hesitated over the send button for several long moments. Stiles missed Derek, missed his quick wit and brooding nature, he and Derek had become closer during those last months when Stiles spent the entire summer disrupting the werewolf's peace. He made a comment or two but they both knew if Derek really wanted him out, he'd have made him leave. Derek didn't watch a lot of movies or spend a vast amount of time involved in main stream so all that summer Stiles brought movies and told him about the latest actor or actress involved in scandal. Derek had also inadvertently been the first person Stiles came out to as bisexual. They'd been talking about the leads of two of the newest movies in theaters when Stiles commented on the dudes ass. Derek's eyebrows had raised while he gave Stiles a once over, he nodded, like it made sense and that was that. Before he'd disappeared Derek had been spending Wednesday and Sunday dinners with Stiles and his dad. And he'd been there when Stiles came out to his dad, who quirked an eyebrow and then wondered why he thought he didn't know. Derek had smirked, said I told you so and then they had dessert and watched a game on TV. The sheriff had really grown to like Derek, liked having him over especially on nights when he'd get called in last minute and didn't want Stiles home alone. Derek slept on the couch, to Stiles dismay. Hey, Derek was objectively attractive. And also, Stiles definitely had a thing, a little thing, a slight crush, sort of, a tiny bit. He definitely wasn't in love, definitely, Derek wasn't Lydia. Although... Derek was Derek. And maybe Stiles had developed an embarrassing amount feelings but he knew that was one sided, that it didn't matter. He liked Derek around much more then the even remote chance of it being anything more. And boy, did he sometimes wish it were more. Derek always sat very close to Stiles, he assumed it was because he didn't know the sheriff well but even when he and his dad hugged farewell and Derek stopped tensing up at the contact he still sat close. Even at the loft, which after coming out to his dad, Stiles was no longer allowed to go to alone. He remembered how embarrassing that conversation had been, Derek had shown up, was standing right there in the door when the sheriff stopped them. "Hold on," he'd said as he straightened his tie. Stiles froze, Derek tensed, they'd only had the big 'come out' the night before. "I don't want you at the loft anymore." Stiles visibly saw Derek flinch and felt his own heart ache, he loved hanging out with Derek and he was prepared to fight it out if his dad forbid it. "Um, why?" "You?" the sheriff nodded at Stiles. "Alone with him?" he flicked his gaze at Derek then back. "In his house, my teenaged son?" "Sir, I-" "It's not you Derek," the sheriff had chuckled as he stepped up towards them. "My son here has a habit of being a little to....... Available." "Dad!" Stiles had flailed. "It's not like I'm trying to steal Derek's virtue!" Derek groaned and rubbed a hand down his face, the sheriff smirked and Stiles was mortified. He'd happily do anything Derek..... Okay so maybe his dad had a point but still! "You two can hang out here," he'd said as he grabbed his keys. Stiles was about to argue how that made any sense when they'd still be alone when his dad added. "Where I can send out patrols that you better step outside, fully clothed to every chance they drive passed and wave." Stiles had never seen Derek look so red before, as his dad walked passed be clapped Derek on the shoulder and smiled. So his dad trusted Derek but not him? He was insulted at first but then.... He really couldn't blame him. The day after Derek vanished had been a Wednesday, when he didn't text Stiles about what to bring for dessert he just had a feeling and he'd gone to the loft to find it empty. The sheriff had come home to a meat lovers pizza on the dinning table and Stiles in bed. "He gone," he'd asked as he leaned into Stiles door. "Yeah," Stiles had croaked. He hadn't cried but he'd felt the pressure in his chest and the sting in his eyes since he'd gotten home. "Will he be back?" He had no idea, Derek left no note, told no one, didn't bother to even text like 'hey leaving this shit hole, see ya'. He'd just...vanished. Stiles hoped he'd come back, hoped they'd see him again or at least hear from him. But... "I hope not." "Stiles," his dad had sympathy in his voice because he knew, he knew when Stiles was falling hard and way to fast. Even before Stiles knew. "He's a smart guy Stiles, maybe he just needs time from here, considering everything." "I just thought..." Stiles sighed, wiped at his eyes. "I don't know what I thought." "He cared about you kid, he wouldn't have been here so much if he didn't." Stiles closed his messaging app and huffed, if Derek cared like his dad thought then why not send so much as a text message? He was holding onto a ghost. Derek stared at the 'Welcome to Beacon Hills' sign for nearly 53 minutes, he thought he'd drive right through, go to the loft, clean up a little and show up at the Stilinski's with pie. He'd practically slammed on the breaks when he thought about it, it'd been two years, what if Stiles had gone away for college? What if the sheriff moved? That was ridiculous though because Cora had told him how John had been in a work incident and was no longer acting sheriff. That meant Stiles would be home with him, school or other obligations be damned. He eventually gave up on the idea and drove to the loft, he tried several times to write a text to Stiles, to tell him he was here but he couldn't work up the nerve and four hours later, he gave up and went to bed. Scott found out he was back first, he seemed mostly happy to see him, until he asked about Stiles. "So you haven't told him you were back?" "No," Derek tried focusing on the dishes they'd used for lunch. "Are you," Scott hesitated, "Are you going to tell him?" "I assumed you'd inform the pack." "I will but I... I think you should tell Stiles yourself." Derek could hear it, hear how Scott was feeling defensive and yet, knowing this meant something to his best friend. He wouldn't tell Derek that but it wasn't like Derek hadn't known. Stiles had started to smell like contentment and happiness whenever Derek and he hung out, towards the end. He knew what that meant, because it was the flood of scent he gotten off his mother whenever his dad had returned from work. Scott didn't tell Stiles but the sher- John found out from a deputy about Derek's return and showed up two weeks later. He was on crutches and in a lot of pain, from what Derek could smell. "One more surgery," he laughed as he stretched his bad leg out. "That's what they keep telling me." "I heard what happened, I'm sorry." "In this town? I'm surprised that I was shot by a human, I guess it's the better option though." "How.." Derek faltered, he wanted so badly to ask about Stiles but didn't think it would be okay. John smiled at him though. "Stiles is okay, he took a year off, got a job, taking care of my useless ass right now." "I doubt he minds." "I know he doesn't, that's the problem," John shook his head. "He should have been off to college, been doing all that young adult stuff." "Stiles was never going to do that," Derek smirked. "No," John sighed. "I suppose not." They'd sat quietly for a while afterwards and then John asked if he'd talked to Stiles and upon his solemn face, he'd told him he needed to. Of course Derek still didn't and Stiles showed up a few days later, huffing and puffing and angry because the lift took to long and he ran up all those flights of stairs and barged in. "You just come back! And you don't say anything!" Derek was frozen, Stiles had changed, he looked more the adult he was supposed to be with stubble on his chin, his shoulders filled out. He was dressed in a button up and slacks, Derek learned later after being yelled at that it was because Stiles had taken up a job in a law office as a secretary. They spent the night together, Stiles borrowing clothes, and they had the TV on as background noise but they talked the entire time. Derek didn't know when it happened but they fell asleep next to one another and he'd woken to Stiles curled up into his side, drooling just a little bit. Yeah, Derek knew already how screwed he was, everything he had started to feel two years ago came slamming back into him. He didn't wake Stiles but he texted Cora and she'd sent back the laughing emoji, he sighed. He had eventually broken down and told her about Stiles and all the time he'd spent with him and his dad. He didn't say how he felt but after a month, she asked how long he had been in love with him. Derek had been floored, then petrified, and finally, mortified because Stiles was 17 and Derek felt wrong. But Stiles was almost 20 now and he was here, like this was the only place he wanted to be. Derek's phone buzzed again, this time it was John who told him he expected him at dinner Sunday with blueberry pie. He smiled. The routine was easy to get back into, it was even easy to spend almost every evening with John and Stiles and then when John's surgery came up Derek offered to be there while Stiles worked. It was practically domestic, Derek thought, he cooked dinner and cleaned up, he made easy-to-heat breakfasts for Stiles in the morning, washed and folded laundry. He was there so much he hardly saw the loft and eventually John suggested he stay in his room. "I'm comfortable on the couch," he smiled. "You shouldn't be driving home every night only to come back first thing." Stiles nearly demanded it and Derek brought his clothes the following day. Things were good with Derek back, really good and Stiles should have honestly known that meant something terrible would happen. Nothing in Beacon Hills ever stayed so good. Ogres. Ogres were the latest in crazy supernatural incidents, three seemed to magically pop up out in the preserve and they had a thing for eating people. It took them all a month to realize however, because apparently pixies had a way to disguise the rancid smell of ogre. Why pixies helped ogres? Because they ate whatever remains were left behind. Stiles grimaced at the sight, dozens of tiny pixies fluttered about the opening in the trees, the ogres were sleeping in the cave which was only apparent by their snoring. Bones lay scattered, blood having seeped into the dirt. Scott had thought this would be an easy win so he had brought Liam and Theo and Stiles. Thankfully, his best friend, Stiles, wasn't so.....enthusiastic and had told Derek who had located Chris Argent in town and they had just shown up. "How exactly do we deal with pixies?" Liam asked. "Gold," Christ sighed as he loaded his gun. "Gold? Pixies are affected by gold?" "Yes," he cocked the gun and then tossed a bag to the werewolves. "Talons, Isaac had an interesting idea. These are gold plated, should slip over your claws easily." "What about the Ogres," Scott questioned. "I'm on it," Stiles called as he circled around the area, a bag of mountain ash in hand. "He can trap them inside and Deaton can help us figure it out from there." "Sounds easy," Theo commented. Of course nothing was that simple and the pixies woke the ogres the moment everyone started to attack, well before Stiles set the barrier. Derek ran into the attack full force, Chris easily took down a dozen pixies but they felt never ending and Liam and Theo were swiping left and right. Scott wound up pinned by an ogre and Stiles brilliant idea was only thought through enough to save his friend, not protect himself. The ogre threw him back quite a few feet with enough force to knock the wind out of him, Scott easily broke away and took the ogre down but another had picked Stiles up. He was about to be a midday snack when something nearly gutted the thing and it dropped him. Everything hurt by this point and he wasn't sure he could move but all he could think about was how he'd pay the bills and take care of his dad if he was paralyzed. "Stiles," Derek shouted as he hovered over him. "T-Take ca-are of dad," he whimpered before fading out. When he woke he was in the hospital and sore, which he realized was good because at least he felt fingers and toes. He could hear his dad just outside his door, talking to Melissa and when he glanced over, Derek was passed out in the chair. A soft smile spread across his face as he looked at him, he loved Derek and God this was the worst time for him to realize that. He closed his eyes and threw his head back, letting out a small hiss of pain and then groaning internally. He didn't want to lose Derek because of his stupid feelings. "You idiot." Stiles eyes flew open and Derek was standing beside the bed now, looking tense with his arms crossed, gripping his biceps like he had to to ground himself. "Nice to see you to, big guy," he smirked. Derek's expression softened and then he sat on the bed and took Stiles hand, a pained look in his eyes. "You can't do that anymore Stiles." "Who else is gonna go head first to save Scott," he teased, squeezing Derek's hand slightly. "Scott can take care of himself, you- You're-" "Don't tell me I'm fragile or human or-" "Needed." The surety of Derek's tone almost hurt, but the certainty in his eyes made Stiles feel like crying. "Scott is-" "Scott can heal Stiles, you aren't fragile but you are human, a choice you made-" "So now I should be punished for being human?" "What would your dad do huh? How would he feel if he lost you? How would I..." Derek's breathing was labored and Stiles watched him carefully, waiting for a punch line. "How would you what," Stiles croaked when they sat silently for to long. Derek's eyes flashed momentarily as he looked up at him again and Stiles held his breath. Something about this moment was making his heart race, something about the way Derek was so close, like he hadn't left. "You..You have to know I care about you by now, about your father- "Derek-" "I can't... I can't lose you Stiles, not now." They had never talked about why Derek left, he'd yelled about it, yelled about his abrupt return but he hadn't dared ask... "Why did you leave," Stiles asked quietly, his thumb rubbing across the top of Derek's knuckles. "God," Derek breathed. "I hoped you wouldn't ask." "Why?" "Because I never knew how I'd say it," Derek glanced back up through his eyelashes and Stiles felt the enormity of this moment right then. "Tell me," he was shaking, just a little, trembling but more with hope then fear. Derek smirked and then his lips were on Stiles, a soft, chaste kiss that was hesitant. Derek drew back slowly, breathing heavily, shaky but Stiles quickly gripped his shirt and tugged him back in, kissing with every bit of passion that had built up. He'd almost forgotten where they were when, "Ahem." His dad stood in the doorway, a smirk on his face and Melissa trying not to smile right behind him. At least they approved, Stiles thought and kissed Derek again. It took three months to sell the loft, Derek had to argue with Stiles for weeks when he decided he'd sell the place and the money went towards paying off John and Stiles medical bills. Scott's mom sold her house and opted to rent John's house, his room remained his but the rest was cleaned up, aside from pictures and a few things Melissa was happy to keep in reminder of Claudia. Scott moved to his own place and Kira was planning to move in when she finished up in Japan. Turned out she'd gotten back in touch with Scott and they had rekindled. Lydia came down for summer break and was practically glowing when she learned about him and Stiles, an 'I told you so' written all over her face. She was also thrilled to learn that John, Stiles, and himself were moving to New York. The closest pack members she would have since leaving for school. Derek still had he and Laura's condo, and the three of them could easily make do until they found a home. John protested they needed their own space but both he and Stiles made it clear he wasn't getting out of this. Derek didn't mind, Laura had sound proofed their rooms back when Derek lost his cool over a guy she'd been seeing when he thought she was crying from pain. He shuttered at the memory. As they loaded up the last of their things into his car -Stiles jeep was getting shipped, no way could it make it across the country- John surprised them both. "Dad, what do you mean you aren't coming?" Stiles hissed. "I'll fly in with Lydia at the end of the summer, finish things up here," John winked at Derek who looked down out of embarrassment. "I swear to God if you don't show up-" "I'll make sure he's there before the start of the next semester," Lydia stepped up and smiled. "I'm holding you accountable, don't make me send the wolves to fetch," Stiles pointed at her accusingly and the pack groaned. The goodbye was rough but it didn't feel final, thankfully, and when John hugged Derek he didn't hesitate to hug back. "Get him in school, don't let him find some shit job," John whispered. When Derek pulled back he was smirking and winked. "Hey! Hey! What was that," Stiles shouted from beside Scott. "What're you two plotting!?" The drive to New York was long but had been worth it for every night Derek was able to hold Stiles close to him, for the nights they slept in the car, cuddled close and fogging the windows. And when he walked into the condo he hadn't seen in five years, Derek was surprised he didn't feel a crippling ache. Sure, it hurt to smell Laura but only faintly, the smell of Stiles was overwhelming after a day and smelt like home. After fighting for a month, Stiles relented and agreed to taking a few classes at the university, he chose a major in justice. Derek said he wasn't surprised. John, who apparently Derek told immediately, was thrilled and couldn't wait to see them both. Lydia had congratulated him and said she was considering moving to New York once she finished with MIT. She liked the idea of being close to them and apparently she had a someone back home that she might bring, if they kept up what they were doing. Stiles was happy, he missed Scott and Melissa insanely but they Skyped and planned to visit at least once a year plus during the holidays. Derek picked up a job at a bookstore run by the alpha in the area who had been close to he and Laura, and when his dad arrived he'd quickly picked up consultation work for the NYPD, again thanks to the alpha. Turned out the PD had only recently learned about the supernatural and even then it was only the chief and a few detectives. John still had a bad limp but his "expertise" on werewolves and other creatures was useful, that and he scared some of the locals with his commanding and stern voice whenever they were getting a little to close to a crime scene. Stiles was frustrated about work but Derek constantly assured him that he and his father had everything handled. He didn't worry so much after a few months and started to get into his classes. "Hey Derek," he called one afternoon as he walked into their condo. "Yeah," Derek popped out from the kitchen. "What do you think of forensic anthropology?" Derek's eyebrows rose but he smiled, "Is that something you're thinking about?" "I don't know," he sighed and flopped into the couch. Derek sat beside him before pulling him into his lap, kissing his temple. "I think I want to, I feel like I have so many options now." "You do," Derek smiled. "Thanks to you," he kissed Derek's neck. "And my dad." "You always had options, you're brilliant." "Shut up, who says things like that," he snapped. "I only say it when it's true," Derek chuckled. Stiles groaned, "My point is. With everything that had happened, I wouldn't have been doing this without you. So thank you-" "Stiles-" "Thank you for coming back," he leaned into Derek. "I told you I'd come back." "What," Stiles leaned away, eyebrows knitted. "When I," Derek huffed. "When I left, I texted you that I'd come back. I just... I didn't tell you I'd be coming back for you." Stiles stared at him in disbelief before he burst out laughing, Derek's eyebrows drew together in confusion. "I never got that text!" "What?" "Dude! Why do you-" "Don't call me dude." "-think I was so mad at you when you came home, because I thought you just left, didn't say anything to anyone. I was mad because you totally broke my heart!" Derek quickly flipped Stiles and pinned him down to the couch, Stiles was still chuckling even as Derek hovered over him. "I didn't mean to. I swear, I texted and told you I'd be back. If you thought...." Derek sighed and leaned his head down on Stiles shoulder. "If you thought I just left like that, why would you ever forgive me?" "Because I knew you needed to, I knew you needed out of that town, away from....well everything." "Not you," he stared into Stiles eyes now. "You tend to forgive the people you're in love with." Derek took in a sharp breath but didn't utter a word. "Don't look so shocked, you sourwolf," Stiles chuckled when Derek glared. "I moved across the country with you, I think you know how I felt." "I love you Stiles," Derek flashed his eyes and kisses the man below him. "If I had actually gotten a text, I probably would have followed you a long time ago," Stiles smirked as he traced a finger down the side of Derek's face. "I guess it's better that you didn't," Derek smiled. "Long as I'm here now." "Dad won't be home for a few more hours," Derek smirked again. Stiles felt warmth spread through him anytime Derek referred to his dad that way, like he was his own family, he didn't do it often and Stiles knew it made him feel guilty at times but he loved it. He loved that this was his family, and that Derek could possibly see it that way too. "It's been awhile since we got to use the couch," Stiles waggled his eyebrows as he ran his hands up Derek's sides beneath his shirt. Derek's lips crashed into his and Stiles couldn't help the moan that escaped his lips into Derek's mouth. "Honestly Stiles, I always thought we'd end up together." Stiles groaned out loudly and Derek's head dropped back onto his shoulder at the sound of the voice. "I'm hurt, truly, and with my own nephew," Peter sauntered into the living space. "Has no one killed you yet," Stiles snapped. "Or again." "What do you want Peter," Derek growled. "I came for the holidays," he smiled. "What holiday," Stiles sighed as Derek sat up. "Hmm," Peter contemplated. "St Patrick's day?" "It's May," Derek grumbled. "I'm feeling like either of you don't want me here," he touched his chest, feigning hurt. "Make that three," John walked in and Stiles huffed before sliding down the couch. "Can't get laid around here." "Is that an offer," Peter smirked as John groaned. "Peter, I will rip your throat out, with my teeth this time," Derek flashed his eyes. "God that's so sexy when it's not aimed at me!" John sighed, Derek smirked, Peter looked scandalized, and Stiles was perfectly content with his comment. Peter here or not, everything finally felt right.

I got a little mixed up with the dates, so here’s the promised fic rec list for this week. In the interest of not overloading myself with Projects and making sure I can actually post recs more regularly, I’m gonna keep the format simple. So here are ten fics I’ve read and enjoyed recently!
Mates and Mushrooms | mikkimouse ( @mad-madam-m ) | 11,536 | Explicit | 2017-07-31
Derek's not that excited about spending three days at a conference getting propositioned by every Alpha with a single pack member. Stiles has a plan to make it stop.
It might be a great plan...if only Derek weren't head over heels in love with him.
It might be an even better plan if someone at the conference didn't have a vested interest in Derek staying single.
Sleeping Next To You Is Like Magic | @LadyDrace | 11,886 | Teen | 2017-07-30
Stiles and Derek meet the summer before senior year. Stiles can't sleep, Derek helps with that, and there's a lot less cuddling and a lot more emotional crises than you'd think.
Or:
Stiles' feelings happen so much, and learning how to deal with them takes him a little while. Good thing Derek is happy to wait.
By The Beautiful Sea | @clotpolesonly | 4,944 | Gen | 2017-07-13
Stiles gets the very last scoop of salt water taffy ice cream, much to the chagrin of the gorgeous dude behind him in line. The gigantic stray dog is thrilled though, at least when Stiles gives in to the begging and lets him have half of it. The beautiful woman across the street thinks it's all hilarious for some reason, and Scott just really needs to try this ice cream.
No Refunds or Exchanges | @badwolfbadwolf | 18,916 | Mature | 2014-12-25
Stiles is the newest deputy in the Beacon Hills Sheriff’s Department, and has maybe just been a little in love with Derek Hale since Stiles had made a fool of himself in front of him at the SD summer picnic a few years ago. Being married to him—only for the sake of not getting deported—is going to suck in new and unusual ways.
Celestial Navigation | @alocalband | 12,492 | Mature | 2017-07-07
A year after the death of his sister, while struggling with social anxiety and writer's block, Derek decides to start over somewhere new.
A Crooked Way to Fly | @andavs | 14,982 | Gen | 2017-07-04
The Dream That You Wish | SylvieW ( @sylvie-w ) | 10,759 | Teen | 2017-02-17
...Guys, it's a Cinderella AU, I don’t know what more to tell you.
I won't sleep if you won't sleep | dragon_temeraire ( @dragon-temeraire ) | 4,085 | Teen | 2017-01-05
After the nogitsune, Stiles is unable to sleep. To help, he has a spell cast on him that will link him with Derek.
chase away sorrow | @thealmostrhetoricalquestion | 10,056 | Gen | 2017-05-10
A faery rises up out of a crack in the sidewalk, a hollow-boned twist of silver skin and empty eyes, and Derek almost swallows his tongue in shock, coming to an abrupt halt in the middle of the street. It’s not unusual, exactly, for monsters to walk the streets with humans – Derek should know, since being a werewolf isn’t exactly considered human, and that’s exactly what Derek is – but it is unusual for them to sprout up like a weed with little regard for who sees them do it.
It’s also unusual for them to stare right at Derek, one arm stretched out in front of them impatiently, something green caged in the confines of their spindly fingers.
Derek watches the creature leave, slightly stunned, and then hesitantly reads the note.
See you soon, sourwolf.
Blackbird | skoosiepants ( @pantstomatch ) | 25,134 | Teen | 2017-06-22
Stiles groans and drops his face into his hands. “I’m seventeen, I can kind of use mountain ash and I can explode houses when I’m mad enough. How am I gonna win any kind of magic fight?”
“We’ll work on it,” Deaton says, as infuriatingly calm as ever. “The important thing to remember, Stiles, is that when everything else is chaos, you’re the port in the storm.”
Or-
Laura Hale never died, and Stiles is magic.

“Derek, what’s going on?” Erica asks.Derek hesitates to respond, trying to decide on the most concise way to tell the story without his disgust bleeding through. Marie beats him to it.“After the Argents’ attack, we were the only pack who would give them shelter. As thanks, it was agreed my daughter would marry a member of the Hale pack when she came of age.”“But Derek is no longer an option because a marriage pact can’t interfere with a pack’s hierarchy,” Lydia fills in, disbelief dripping from every word. “And now every other member of the pack is mated, you’ve finally come calling to sink your claws into Stiles.”
*
When Derek and Stiles stumbled into a friends with benefits relationship purely by accident, they weren’t expecting it would one day save their asses when a threat from Derek’s past comes knocking. All they need to do is pretend to really be in love to avoid an arranged marriage agreed to years ago with a pact of blood. Considering they hadn’t bothered setting up boundaries when the ‘benefits’ first started, it’s no surprise that the lines begin to blur and Derek’s eyes are eventually opened to a truth he hadn’t been ready to face.

Not Your Disney Romance by tylerfucklin (Zimothy)
(5/5 I 42,065 I Mature I Sterek)
After a long-forgotten agreement of an arranged marriage between Derek and the daughter of another pack’s alpha resurfaces, Stiles takes it upon himself to become the most amazing fake fiancé that a clueless, desperate alpha werewolf could wish for.
Those Are The Days That Bind Us by s_a_m
(5/5 I 52,171 I Mature I Sterek)
His father wasn’t stupid. He was an officer of the law, trained to look for patterns. He confronted Stiles about werewolves and they shouted and Stiles tried to explain but his father was so, so, so mad, more mad than Stiles had ever seen him, ever in all his life and then his father looked at him and said,
“It’s like you’re not my son anymore.”
And Stiles broke.

(21/22 I 55,874 I Not Rated I Sterek)
Kink meme fill in which every werewolf and shapeshifter in Beacon Hills is aware that Stiles is pregnant before he is. And apparently the first baby!werewolf being born into the pack (their Alpha’s, no less) is a big freakin’ deal and excuse enough for everyone to lose their damn minds. When Stiles figures out why everyone’s been acting so weird around him, he’s not amused.
Just Act Normal by zosofi
(10/10 I 78,677 I Explicit I Sterek)
If someone had told Stiles back in high school that he would be an Oscar winning actor by the time he turned 25, he would’ve probably told Scott to punch them. The thing is, though…they would’ve been right.
Which makes returning to Beacon Hills, center of all that is supernatural and better left avoided, all the more awkward.

(46/46 I 100,749 I Explicit I Sterek)
Stiles walked away from Beacon Hills and never planned on coming home. Now he needs help, and there’s nowhere else he can go other than back to his childhood home and the pack he left behind.
between the click of the light and the start of the dream by thepsychicclam
(10/10 I 105,192 I Explicit I Sterek)
A twig snaps, and then Stiles hears breathing and the rustle of leaves. He strains to get a better glimpse into the darkness, but it’s pointless. There’s nothing but a black void.
It’s Stiles’ senior year, and he’s trying to concentrate on normal things - like the lacrosse championship, spring break, prom, graduation (and definitely not Derek) - when he starts having nightmares and waking up in the middle of nowhere. Oh yeah, and he’s being haunted by a hag. Great.

Stiles was just starting to face his DID…and then all hell broke loose.
How many times can he shatter before there’s nothing left to piece back together?
