okay so

will Grian ever have an encounter with the Watchers in the fic (you dont have to answer ofc)?? but if he did,, what would his reaction be???

are they looking for him? did they just let him leave??

because- like. from what i can remember they didnt have any malicious intent towards him?? like Watchers function on a completely different moral level so they didnt mean any harm they DID harm him, y'know? if that makes sense??

also! do they Watchers love him in the sense of like,, parent child love? or do they simply view him as their offspring TM

now that im typing this out i feel like this is all very spoilery ish so you probably wont be able to answer it, but!!! i had to try >:)

The Watchers wont be showing up in the main fic-- although theres definitely room for them to appear in future oneshots!!! That being said, uhhh.... Grian would NOT have a good reaction to seeing them again. He's got a lot of trauma surrounding them-- thats like, hardcore panic attack breakdown territory if he ever had another encounter.

And the Watchers are looking for him, actually-- community is such a big part of Watcher culture that its anathema to them that he'd ever even want to leave in the first place, and they worry a lot for his safety (considering hes both an integral piece of restoring their population, and because to them, striking out on your own is synonymous with death). They've been looking for him for years now, though by the time the fic takes place, that's tapered off from any active searching. These days, they only look where their feeding happens to take them (many of their colony assume he's dead, but some still hold out hope despite everything).

They didnt let him leave. Grian spent YEARS carefully watching them, cataloging their habits, learning how both they and his new body worked, before making a rapid and desperate escape. But they also didnt hold any malicious intent! Like you said, they just have a completely different moral structure, and ultimately, they were just following their customs. Community values dictate they stick together, so Grian's mad run for freedom took them all terribly by surprise, and was ultimately what gave him the leverage to successfully escape

I think the way Watchers parse the concept of love is very different from ours-- i hesitate to say they loved Grian if only because i dont feel like they define that feeling the same way Players would or even how we do irl. But they did deeply care. Juveniles are highly valued and taken care of by the entire community-- although Grian had the mind of an adult, not a freshly hatched juvenile, so that did make a slight difference in how they viewed him. I think a more accurate way to look at how they felt about him is that of a mentors and mentee relationship, where they taught him how to survive as one of them, and fully incorporated him as a member into their colony. He was genuinely cared for; in my head, i liken them to a well-meaning but very controlling family (though not a nuclear one)

Thanks again for the ask, bug anon!! :D it was nice to get a chance to talk about this!! I definitely want to write the Watchers proper at some point, so who knows-- maybe in a future oneshot, they might appear. Whether thats a pre-canon fic or a future one...... well, who's to say >:]

what got them both into law?

a: law was not my end goal by any means. my original plan was to end up working in a lab doing research and whatnot. j: sounds dreadful. a (snorts): says the woman who barely passed chemistry. j (deadpanned): i was a poli-sci major for a reason. a: wasn't your father an electrical engineer? j: aptitude isn't genetic. a (smirking): clearly. j: just get back to your story, yeah? a: fine. well, i was- how do you say- 'radicalized' during college. couldn't pry that megaphone out of my hands no matter how hard you tried. even if ji over here had a problem with it. j: the issue wasn't you having a megaphone. it was where you were pointing it at that was the problem. your protests had zero direction. a: good thing i met you then, huh? j (rolls eyes fondly): met is putting it lightly. you, my friend, were impossible to ignore. a: one conversation with ji was all it took for me to march over to my advisor's office and switch to pre-law. j: i don't think i said all that much to you. a: are you kidding? the whole 'i'm but a speck compared to the injustices others have experienced. i want to be a part of the solution.' that's what you consider as not much? j (suppressing a grin): hm. a: she won't bring this up, so i will. ji was also captain of her debate team in high school.

do they have certain thoughts about academia?

j: there's a lot of politics surrounding it. on paper, we did everything right. but legacy is a powerful thing in academia as well as the legal profession as a whole. where you go to school, who you know- all of that matters. a: it's a never ending cycle of elitism that systematically keeps these organizations- j: white. a: exactly. right now, we're an anomaly. that's why we fund the scholarships we do. there are so many brilliant minds who just need to be given a chance to truly thrive.

what's their favorite part about the park & davis hq?

a and j simultaneously: mr. mercado. a: i adore that man. he owned one of the food carts that was stationed near our old office building. best veggie tacos i've ever had. j: our entire staff loved him so much that we decided to bring him along with us when we moved our hq to manhattan. now he's one of the main cooks at our commissary. a: i'm also a big fan of our in-office garden walls. j (chuckling): of course you are. you designed them. a: what, i can't be proud?

do they consider themselves as mentors?

j: i'm not sure if mentor is the right word to describe our role a: i'd like to take on mentees, but it's not feasible with our current schedule. j: what we do is pair our newer associates with more senior members of the firm based on our annual evaluations. the goal is for both parties to enhance their abilities. a: the system has its growing pains. some pairs get along better than others. j: that reminds me- mendoza's newest mentee- what was his name again? a (scans through spreadsheet): zahir. j: ah, yes. he seems to be having a hard time acclimating. should we reassign him? donna's last mentee recently transferred. a: give it time, ji. i still think those two will be good for each other.

• The whole Legend Xros Wars AU thingy! Because it's focused on Daisuke and Tagiru bonding as mentor-mentee. Totally inspired in some media I watched as a kid, including Power Rangers Dino Thunder.

• Kamen Chef was my favorite dummy story about a mysterious employee in Chef Digitamamon's Chinese Restaurant (y'know, the oned from ep 36-37. Not the one from Adventure!!)

• @ladyofthecastleproject /Lady of the Castle series too, I didn't spent YEARS working on it and co-working with a few peeps to not have it mentioned here ;3;

16. Least favorite ship, at least in terms of the ones I have seen most often is definitely Gilrond. I always saw their relationship as more of a Mentor-Mentee type thing which is a little too close to Teacher/Student for me to be 100% comfy with. That, and Gil-Galad has always been sort of this epic figure to who was extremely talentend at and dedicated to his role as High King (with the results to show for it, seriously). I mean, how else does one take the state the Elven society of Middle Earth was in at the end of the First Age and cultivate it into the flourishing, expanding thing it was by the middle of the Second? And Elrond was able to learn from him, in terms of both what he wanted to be as a leader and also what he *didn't* want to be as a leader.

That's not to say I hate the ship because I definitely don't, it just has to be along the lines of friends-with-benefits for my brain to relax about it lol.

24. Honestly there are a bunch, but Merlin from BBC Merlin is the first that comes to mind rn(I'm a simple gal ok). BBC Merlin is this lovable, seemgly-innocuous but actually extremely powerful magic dude whose whole life is protecting other people because he's called to it and it's all he wants to do, yet he's doomed by the narrative to get the short end of the stick for all time and also survive all of it. Elrond is literally the best boy who *actually* does nothing wrong but he has to endure so much freaking heartbreak throughout his story and yet he can't give up either. it's like....give these boys a break already c'mon.

Brimb:

20. Ideal best friend for Brimb is actually difficult, because there are so many characters I see him getting along really well with but because of his age and skill level, he's a bit set apart y'know? That being said, I do hc him and Gil-Galad being really good friends, because they both care about the future of Middle Earth and building something Good, even if their skill sets and backgrounds are entirely different they still love and respect that about each other while also challenging their respective viewpoints. So they are a really good foil for each other while also being able to support each other from shared experiences of the First Age and their dreams for what could be.

22. To answer this one, I have to go back to my first impressions of Brimb which is a guy who is extremely skilled at his craft, very pricipled in terms of his perception of right and wrong, and very, very caring about his friends, family and the world as a whole. He made his masterworks not for himself, but to protect and enhance what the Elves were already doing in Middle Earth. And died horribly after giving them away, for the same reasons. So, I do see him as being soft and warm when it comes to people he cares about, fierce when it comes to defending them, and I love seeing that in fics.

A Brimb that's cold and oblivious oustide his own ambition and/or power-hungry? Obsessed to distraction with being as good as Feanor was? Nah. That 'aint my guy.

favorite thing: her STRENGTH. like. this girl grew up being taught to kill and hurt people. that was her entire purpose. but she had the strength to decide to forge her own path and become her own person despite everything being stacked against her. I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for her to turn her back on everything she knew and become something more. I just think she's neat <3

least favorite thing: her fanon personality tbh. she's not perfect. she's flawed and makes mistakes just like every other fucking human being. to write her as the perfect favorite child who never makes a mistake is a huge disservice to her character and all the mistakes she's made and learned from

15 years ago hajime Hinata was a reserve course student who couldn't be around other talented students however one day a reserve course student named natsumi kuzuryuu invited him to her house to make a project alongside two others as they got there hajime met a cute looking boy who had a buzz cut hair Rosy cheeks dirty golden eyes he was fuyuhiko he talked to him a few times but not too long hot...he saw him with 4 kids 2 girls and 2 boys who were trying to write lyrics hajime couldn't stop staring at fuyuhiko for some reason "hey hajimemes why are you staring at my brother and his mentees?" Natsumi appeared out of nowhere hajime jumped "gah! Don't scare me like!" Haji also realized that fuyuhiko is a mentor Nat just crossed her arms "if you like those girls sorry bud they are like 16-17 years old" hajime felt weriden out they were too young for hajime anyways "no! I'm not Looking at them!" Hajime denied it "then who were you staring at?" The two heard the 4 kids and fuyuhiko laughing hajime eyes were glued onto fuyuhiko,natsumi eyes widen smirking "come on memes mike and Athena need our help" later on hajime finds out that the kids with fuyuhiko were street performers called "vivid bad squad" fuyuhiko babysat the group sub leader An and the orange and yellow haired boy this made haji a bit curious he just saw fuyuhiko as a Yakuza and didn't knew that he was also a street performers teacher as him and his group were making a science project he stood up to get water he went down seeing fuyuhiko who was wearing a suit and underneath the jacket was a pink vest he's eye lashes were super pretty he was with that blonde ponytail girl(hajime could of sworn he saw the same girl hiyoko talks to daily) named kohane "fuyu-sama who's this?" Kohane said gently "oh this? I think this is my sister's friend" fuyuhiko stared at him "if you're looking for water it's over there" he pointed at the water dispenser "yea I got kinda lost in this mansion" kohane said embarrassed a bit "same" as hajime got his water haji couldn't resist looking at the beautiful man where he literally spilled his water quickly running out of the room embarrassed

After that haji couldn't stop thinking about fuyuhiko even if he tried he was so dizzy in dreams of that beautiful man...one day when hajime was waiting for chiaki his friend to arrive he heard a little singing a nice melody came from somewhere "what's that noise? "hanpa nara K.O. fuwafuwa shitai nara douzokaien junbi shichaou ka naite mo waratte mo aishite ne" it was a guy singing ado by kagamines hajime was to curious and investigate the singing as he went around trees he saw a guy sitting under a tree "nandaka na… tte tsumannai koto mo aru deshou ronrii ronri no nooto handii honki dassou" it can't be... fuyuhiko?! No way he's into vocaloid?! He stayed to listen to him singing "yan nacchatte doro ni Bad gohatto darou ga oborete ochite sorosoro ikka" he's voice is so attractive.... "motto ganbatte agaru made motto ganbatte" hajime snapped out realizing he needed to go before fuyuhiko realized

As time went by natsumi invite hajime to his house more often and hajime was always happy because hajime was able to be friends with fuyuhiko and talked with him on a regular daily basis by just talking to him hajime and fuyuhiko sneak out without natsumi knowing just to see the ocean which was not far away from the manor "y'know I love the ocean breeze it's silent and calming I love silent noises" fuyuhiko smiled he looked so pretty under the moon's light "me too" after a while the two develop crushes on each other hajime being a trainwreck trying to get fuyuhiko's heart without him knowing fuyu likes him back the vbs also tried helping fuyuhiko out by making pick up (failing miserably) "how am I supposed to let him know I like him...?" Hajime said to himself trying to sing a song to erase his train of thoughts until "hey Hinata" it was fuyuhiko hajime blushed out of no where surprised by fuyuhiko "o-oh hey fuyu-kun"

"Listen I'm going to my friends y'know the vivid bad squad? They have a live event today and I want you to come" hajime blushed "m-me?" He stuttered "yea toya gave me an invitation to get a plus one natsumi and peko are busy right now..." Hajime heart did 3 backflips "of course!"

At the live event the vbs were there getting excited over hajime talking to him and asking him so much stuff "hey there I'm toya nice to meet you" toya a blue and purple haired boy said to him "o-oh hey there" an akito and kohane smiled at him knowing what's up while fuyuhiko was helping the kids practice for the live event teaching them songs they can sing at the show hajime stared at him "oh so you like vocaloid?" Hajime asked fuyuhiko eyes widen "oh yeah I really do" he laughed "yea he's such a good singer!" An compliant him smiling at him *thanks an"

During the live event the kids were doing so well and sing and dance so amazingly singing the song "Utsuro wo Aogu" (with the help of a singer from their phones) they were in synced with each other which made fuyuhiko happy and seeing him happy after the live event hajime already had to leave as his parents were worried sick about him "thanks for inviting me to the live event" he said "anytime dude hope to see you again soon!" Akito said waving as hajime walked away fuyuhiko was hesitant about something "hey hajime! Fuyuhiko needs to tell you something!" An said fuyuhiko looked at her confused "is there something you need?" Fuyuhiko just went ahead and kissed him on the cheek and ran off "oh"

Again, please don't hate me for this, I tried really hard to get behind it but...

Junksen. I get it, I get why people ship it, I can see why you'd put them together but I just really struggle with the age difference (it's the same with Bemily as well tbh). I live them as friends, I love them having a mentor/mentee kind of dynamic, but I just can't get behind them romantically 😔

In all fairness, I don't really ship Emily with anyone. I write her with Benji on occasion but it's always goofy and a side plot, I think I just see her as the aca-child and to write her as anything other than a sweet little dork who just wants to sing and hang out with the Bellas is really weird for me 😅

20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?

Mitchsen! It was only when I came back to the fandom last year that I really got into them, I always saw Beca with Chloe (and make no mistake bechloe is my main pp ship still fjdjjdjd) but idk if it's because I'm so starved for gay content or if it's my deep love of Anna Camp reignighting, but I really really love them as a concept, one that's so inherently different from bechloe. I might write a post on it someday, who knows? 🤷🏻

Okay, I'm definitely cheating here, but I'm gonna say Vampire Hunters Incorporated Vol. #1 which yes, is a series, BUT I am genuinely very fond of it. It started out as a little bechloe oneshot for horror week last year and then exploded into this whole au which I am deeply obsessed with at this point. It's the inspiration behind the pilot I've been writing (although that has a very different plot/character set) and I really love how it came together by the end. I love the little cult following it seems to have gotten, with the same like 5 people reading and reviewing it and I am so freaking ready for the prompts for horror week this year to come out in a week and a bit because then I can plan Vol #2 properly, I'm so excited for you guys to see what I have planned ✌🏻😉

30. What inspires you to write?

A few things honestly (usually procrastinating over what I actually should be doing bfbdndbd): the gc and the late night conversations we have that always seem to lead to me having 3 more idea on my wip list, music that makes me think of my ships, tv/film that either gives me the idea for a specific scene or a whole AU, and sometimes it's as simple as "oh what if...?"

Isn't the person he's meant to mentor Ollie? If Russ is in the Christmas episodes same as Ollie and it says him and the mentor share a pass it fits with the shooting and Roxanna. I mean in 6 episodes time Ollie is definitely back so maybe he's trying to become a surgeon again- (good luck with that kid) it's him or that Doctor Greg I reckon. They definitely have shared history, both abused, both loved Sahira.

It's definitely, 100% Ollie, the spoilers keep mentioning that Henrik's new mentee is a young doctor with "limitations" (as in, a disability... i.e. Ollie's brain injury). They'll obviously tie it back to the shooting stuff, but I don't expect them to actually bring Roxanna (or Gaskell, for that matter) up again at all - no one on the show has even spoken her name since 2018, after all. :/

Gah, it would be so good if it were Greg though. You're right that they'd fit with the shared history idea. I'm so sad that we'll almost certainly never get more Henrik/Greg scenes again, because there is SO much to address there what with both their CSA storylines. (They were even both specifically 14 when they were abused, which I doubt was intentional but it's a really weird coincidence. That age seems to keep coming up a lot for sexual abuse-related trauma for both Holby and Casualty characters, actually, but that's another post.) And the thing about them both being in love with Sahira too... although the show did retcon Henrik's feelings for Sahira out of existence and tried to make out that he was like a brother to her or whatever it was, so I doubt they'd bother addressing that. :/

(I guess apparently it's considered "brotherly love" now when you're extremely emotionally attached to a woman half your age and get extremely angry, bitter and jealous of any man she shows interest in - including of her husband whom she has been married to for literal years - and you try to lead her away from her husband because you want her to spend all her time with you, and you constantly tell her how amazing and talented she is in an attempt to flatter her and make her want to sleep with you. To me that sounds like a combination of unhealthy romantic feelings and also Henrik subconsciously trying to re-enact the grooming he experienced, but, y'know, according to Holby it's just brotherly love. 🙄)
