Fool's gold is a mimic. After all, it's namesake is that of one. Endless echoes of souls long moved on infecting the rocks inside that cave, and taking shape with what it can see in that blurry memory.

It didn't always look like Norton. But Norton was the first to find it, venturing down a path towards it as it tucked itself inside a corner of that cave. Or... the part that had been transported to the manor, anyway.

The stranger had a miner's face, wore miner's clothes, and sang a miner's song as he wandered. So like an echo, pyrite mimics.

Norton seems to know he's being followed, but he assumes someone else just wandered into the cave. Until he hears a voice, sounding too much like his, echoing words of a long forgotten tune up from the bowels of the cave.

And so Norton calls out to it. And it approaches. The cave is filled with light.
