I love Fern so much. (rant incoming)

I already wrote a whole essay on his character but each day he just carves his way deeper into my heart. He’s essentially around my age, the Finn sword being made when he was about 15.

I’ve heard so many times that nobody deserves these feelings, the things I myself used to feel, and Fern being relatable just gives me that heartache all over again. He was just a kid, a kid who had his whole identity stripped away and had no structure in figuring himself out.

Man, words can’t explain what I feel for this guy. He’s so painfully relatable. The only way he found inner peace was the same thing that caused his death.

I want to give him a hug and tell him he doesn’t deserve the way he feels. He’s still the same boy from the earlier seasons. I just want to him to feel truly loved. :(

What is your OC's biggest fear - Brandon

Brandon! Thank you for reminding me that Brandon exists, I don't think about him nearly enough.

If someone were to ask him what his biggest fear is, he would answer, very unseriously, that it's something like spiders or snakes - despite the fact that he has been seen, on multiple occasions, taking spiders outside instead of killing them, and he's always fascinated by the snake exhibits at the zoo and the museum and has been since he was like eight years old. At one point, his special interest was reptiles, he is not at all afraid of snakes, in reality.

His actual biggest fear is that something's going to happen to his family and he can't do anything about it. Whether it be his mother - or Uncle Hank or Uncle Al - getting hurt on the job (again), or something happening to Justin or Erin or any of his "cousins" that he's protective of, Brandon is very used to being there for the people he loves. When he left for Boston after high school, he made Hank promise to call him the second something happened so he could rush home (which he did when Trudy was shot), and he comes home to Chicago often enough even before he permanently moves back that he can get frequent updates even when Erin and Hank and Al don't necessarily return his calls as quickly as he'd like them to.

At least when things are happening when he's in Chicago, he can be there for moral support, or make sure laundry gets done, or get Justin to and from school, or any number of other things that is helpful. His biggest fear is being useless when someone needs him the most.
