🎈 Happy birthday to us! 🎈

In other words, it's our 6 year anniversary. While I don't have flashy new art, I have something that will hopefully make up for that. Several things, actually!

Site Update

Overall, the blog/website should be more accessible to newcomers and easier to navigate in general. Your feedback has been great and I've done my best to implement most of it. The biggest addition of that nature is the Beginner's Guide to Ask the Famous 8. This is a combination of FAQ, general information, and links to additional websites. It also covers whether the series is suitable for children, since I've had at least one for-sure instance where a guardian has reached out to me in lieu of their child. Even if you're an AtF8 veteran, do give it a read.

I thought I'd add some common tags to the front page so you don't have to dig to find art or character responses. My hope is that this will make navigating easier for newcomers, and more convenient for long-time fans.

Cosmetic Changes

The color theme has been adjusted to be slightly lighter. The banner's font has been changed to be more legible. The old font was taken directly from the official Thomas & Friends website, but it wasn't the easiest to read, so I think this is for the best. The stamps on the banner no longer link anywhere and are faded so as not to draw too much attention. I've added the description nest to the official T&F logo to make the site easier to consume. Now it's very clear what this is right from the front page. I think it adds a nice professional touch, too.

Percy's icon has been changed and is no longer animated. He also no longer links to a page. Trust me, this is for the best, the old one didn't fit the style of the site anymore. Maybe one day I'll make this one animated as well... 🤔

The little copyright tag is brighter so you know who's running the show.

Once the hiatus is over I'll start reaching out to people. To start off I'm aiming for one guest a month, but if we have enough applicants and I can stay on top of things, this might increase. I'm going to be implementing some new experimental features, hence why I'd like to take things slow rather than dive head in.

I finally have some trips back home lined up for this month and December and I'd like to enjoy those without worrying about this series. When I get back I'll need to start seriously looking for jobs, but also my current visa expires in January and I really gotta get that sorted. However, that doesn't mean I won't be drawing anything! It's more that I want to continue improving non-ask aspects of this series before I resume them since asks take up most of the time I spend here. But if you want to see new content ahead of the curve, you can join my Patreon when it goes live- hopefully by the end of the year.

Due to Tumblr successfully tricking me into becoming a professional author, I have several hundred ongoing projects at once, most of them vampire themed.

My international best selling debut novel, Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites is available for purchase on Amazon, iTunes, Kobo, Barnes & Noble and several other places still updating as I type. It was supposed to be a short paranormal polyamorous satirical romance featuring a vampire, a werewolf and all other manner of creatures that go bump in the night, but has since morphed into a paranormal polyamorous gaslamp fantasy romance series with potentially 5-6 books planned. Don’t ask how, I do not know. Also yes, ha ha, I’m so bisexual I couldn’t even pick a genre.

The series follows the antics of three main characters, a disabled and partially deaf werewolf known as Nathan Northland, a 400yo mad-scientist-dandy-styled vampire named Vlad Blutstein, and Ursula, who goes only by the mysterious moniker, The Lady Ursula. It’s set in a pseudo-regency-steampunkish gaslamp era, and the characters inhabit a world much like our own, excepting of course the fantastical ideas of magic being real, vampires living among us, and government bodies being held accountable for their actions.

The book will also be available in paperback, and will also come in two editions: one with the sex scenes for those who like a little bite with their fangs, and one without, for those who like a little bit more fluff. There’s also already a fandom tag, which is #Phangs and #Phangdom and because I’m a weak creature and easily lead, AU fanfic on my Ao3 under original works, most of which is Adult 18+ in nature.

2019 year in review

So… The 2010’s are almost over. Huh. What a decade it’s been. Hard to comprehend how much has changed in 10 years. I can barely believe that I was in high school at the beginning of this decade, and now I’m a college graduate with 2 degrees who’s been working at the same job for the last 3 years. But trying to summarize the past 10 years in a single post is a good way to give myself an existential crisis, so let’s not do that! Instead, let’s just focus on 2019 because there has been more than enough shit that’s happened to me in this year to talk about.

PART 1 OF 2: 2019 AND 2020 GOALS AND RESOLUTIONS

Huh, looking back through my archives, I apparently didn’t make a tumblr post about my goals this year. I definitely had some, though. Lemme list ‘em off real quick, and then we’ll go through them point by point.

1) Pay off all my student loans 2) Finish some song comics 3) Make art for my Redbubble account 4) Finish the first rough draft/script of a game I wanted to make 5) Practice ASL 6) Sew some stuffed animals 7) Finish some fan fictions 8) Work on Ghost Switch 9) AMVs 10) Do some original writing 11) Make illustrations for my fan fictions

Okay, first off, the student loans. I was actually SO CLOSE to successfully completing this one bUT THEN MY CAR HAD TO BE A WHINEY PISS BABY AND HAVE ITS ALTERNATOR DIE ON ME WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN A BLOW OUT THREE WEEKS LATER.

GOD, if I had to summarize this year in two words, for me it would be “Car troubles”. I swear I spent more on auto repair in the first third of this year than I ever have just freakin’ OWNING a car. All four of my tires had to be replaced, my alternator failed and my car literally just SHUT OFF while I was driving, and I was barely able to coast into a gas station. Both my front breaks and rear breaks were worn down the metal and I only learned this when my car was barely able to stop after I had to slam the petal down full force! I went in for an oil change, and they found some problems and then I didn’t get my car back for three days! I don’t even like owning a car! I hate driving! I hate my country’s refusal to provide universal, free public transportation! I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS!

Oh-kay… number 2. Finish some song comics. I didn’t finish any. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t work on them. I have made tiny progress, but that’s certainly better than no progress. One of these song comics I hope to be realizes is going to be a collab with one of my friends. It’ll be a long-time coming as it’s pretty low priority for the both of us, but if anyone else out there was disappointed with KH3’s ending, we’re gonna have ya’ covered… With SONG!

3. Make some redbubble art. I actually did this one! Not in the way I expected, but I added (technically) 3 new designs to my redbubble in the middle of the year. If you like butterflies and dragons, I got some product for you~!

Number 4, finish a script for a game I want to make. I… thought about this. I thought about this a lot, but I never put pen to paper, so… oops. It almost happened! I debated making this my main writing project for NaNoWriMo this year, but ended up having more inspiration for another story. Maybe next year? (god, I hope not. I don’t want to wait a full year just to write something)

Number 5, practice ASL. I just straight up didn’t do this and I only have myself to blame. Still keepin’ up that Danish Duolingo streak, though. 4 years going strong and not a day missed yet.

Number 6, sew some stuffed animals. Again, another one I just straight up didn’t do, but I have an excuse of trying to save money while my car crashed and burned in every other sense except literal this year. Hopefully 2020 will be different. I’ll definitely be able to pay off this last loan within the first half of 2020, and then I can start saving for whatever I want to buy.

Finish some fan fictions was number 7, and I did this! Well, I only finished, 1, but it was a story I’ve been working on for over 3 years, and it came out to over 200 THOUSAND words long, which is the longest thing I’ve ever written, and I’m quite proud of myself. Now that the big story is out of the way, and I’ve gotten into a good rhythm of working on Ghost Switch, maybe I can squeeze in some short writing sessions more frequently. (either that, or just wait for my car to break down again and then go on a writing spree in a pepboys. The lord and the fan fic discord know that’s solely why I finished my other fic this year)

Speaking of Ghost Switch, working on it was a goal this year too, and I did that! I kept it up all year and took a vacation in November and it was wonderful. While the major plot points have been in place since before I started drawing, I still need to script each arc beyond Snowdin, but hey, by the time we get there, it’ll be 2022 so I got time. (Note, don’t do this, kids. Script your stories and comics thoroughly before publishing. The road I’m on is paved with misery and pain and it will only end in tears unless I change lanes soon)

Number 9, amvs. Do people make AMVs anymore? Idk… the last one I made was... Jesus, 5 years ago? (it was a gravity falls/fall out boy crossover, if you were curious) I’ve been wanting to do 2 more for just as long, but in order for me to do that, I’d have to spend time re-watching the shows to find the footage, and then actually edit them together, and I just don’t…. feel like it. Maybe someday, but not any day soon.

10; do some original writing. I did this! For nanowrimo! I wrote the first draft of some original fiction I’ve been planning for a year or two now and it completely sucks! But it’s on paper now and I’m happy. Will I revise and edit it? Sure, but not for a while. I want to let it sit and forget about it and look at it with new eyes months from now so I can be sure I can make it better when time comes to rewrite.

11, make illustrations for my fan fics. Now that You Monster is done, I want to go back and add pictures to it. I didn’t do any this year, but I did keep a list of scenes I wanted to draw, so I have plenty of ideas to do as warm up sketches next year~ I kinda want to stream them~

So, that was 11 goals, and I successfully fulfilled 4 of them! That’s! Not a very good ratio… QmQ So, goals for 2020. Some I’m gonna keep from this year, some I’m gonna drop and some I’m gonna add. In short I would like to,

1) Finish paying off that last student loan 2) Put more stuff on my redbubble 3) Illustrate my own fan fics 4) Sew at least one stuffed animal 5) Make an enamel pin 6) Read one new book a month 7) Write one page a day/Complete at least one new fan fic 8) Learn Python or C# for the game I want to make 9) Finish fully scripting Ghost Switch 10) Boost my patreon

Most of these I think are pretty self-explanitory, but I’ll go into detail just a bit because I’m on a roll and typing my thoughts helps me feel less alone in the middle of the night when you’re super tired and you know you should probably go to sleep, but the toddler in you is throwing a tantrum and doesn’t wanna go to sleep just yet, but you can’t fight the progression of time either way.

Number 1- I should be able to reach this goal by the end of March. End of June at the absolute latest. Once that goal is met, my secret new year’s resolution will be unlocked as well!

Number 2- I want to put more art of my OCs on redbubble. These OCs are tied to the game I want to make. There’s already some art of them up there, but I want at least one piece for each character.

Number 3- Mostly for You Monster. Embrace the cardinal rule of fan fic and apply it to fan art. If you want to read about see art about certain ideas, scenarios, or what-ifs, you gotta make it yourself.

Number 4- I have 3 potential ideas to sew. One is definitely leagues easier than the other two and will probably be chosen if/when I have the time and materials.

Number 5- This year I got really, REALLY into the idea of making enamel pins. Unfortunately it’s a pretty big investment (like, $350 to make 100 pins you might not even sell). If this happens, it’ll probably be towards the end of the year, and if I get enough interest. I’m currently torn between making an original enamel pin and one based off Undertale. We’ll just have to see where this goes.

Number 6- Back in 2018 when I paid off one of my many student loans, I rewarded myself by spending over 200 dollars in used books. All these books had a theme; they were focused on dragons because I have a problem. I have not yet read a single one of these books I have bought, and I would like to fix that. I have, like, 20 unread dragon books, and even if I only read 12 out of 20, I would consider that an amazing accomplishment and money well spent.

Number 7- I currently have about 8 different WIPs I could work on. (well, I don’t know if I can even call them wips. More like, a general idea and a title written down.) I want to build good writing habits, and if I can write just 200 words a day, hell, even 200 words a week and just one of my 8 stories done, I would consider this goal met.

Number 8- I’m torn between making my game in unity or ren’py. I know jack shit about both. Ren’py is more user friendly, but unity will allow me more customization. (Lol, can you guess what kind of game I want to make yet?)

Number 9- I really just want the full story to be done and written incase anything goes horribly terribly wrong in my life and I find myself unable to continue making ghost switch in comic form. Then at least I can finish the story by other means, you know?

Number 10- It always surprises me every month when I get that patreon email saying I got paid. Sure, I don’t even make double digits on it, but it still awes me enough to know that people out there like my work enough to throw me a tip. I can’t thank my patrons enough for supporting me and I hope to one day be in such a good place I can update my comic/song comics/writing frequently enough without need for goals or milestones. But until that magical day arrives, money is always a great incentive for anything, I suppose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ALRIGHT. PART 2 OF 2: SHIT THAT HAPPENED TO ME IN 2019

Cheesus crust what a year. This year started off great! Back in late January Kingdom Hearts 3 FINALLY released, and let me tell you a little story. Back in the summer of 2006 I was a 13 year old middle schooler with no way of making money other than by doing house hold chores at a rate of 25 cents a task. A few weeks ago, I had a sleep over at a friend’s house and they let me play this weird game called “Kingdom Hearts” and god, I was instantly hooked on it. That summer, I did over 800 chores, enough to earn myself 200$ and buy myself a playstation 2 (just in time for the ps3 to come out, gg me) The only games I had for the ps2 were KH1, 2, Re:CoM and Okami, and I beat them all… except Okami. Miffed that the PS3 wouldn’t allow for backwards compatibility, little 13-year-old me made a promise. I looked myself in the mirror and said “I will not buy the next playstation console until KH3 comes out, AND BOY that was probably a good choice for me to make with my level of gaming. I’m even less of a casual gamer than the average casual gamer, but I have been waiting 13 years for this piece of closure, and I even told my friends and family that “the day Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out is the day I will buy a playstation 4”. My dad apparently thought this was the funniest shit, because he literally took the day off from work that Friday to drive me on base to get the game and console (he thought it would be less crowded than a regular walmart, I suppose). I paid $400 on a ps4 pro while he bought me the game. Again, I have an impecible sense of timing seeing as the PS5 is now right on the horrizion, but just like before, I’m not buying a new console until the next KH game is released. See you in 2045, sony~. While I was at the gamestop on base, I also picked up Okami HD and The Last Guardian. For all of February and even early March, I took my time playing through KH3. And…! It was the best disappointment I’ve ever played. After a month away from gaming, I started The Last Guardian and finished it in a couple weeks. I love trico and would die for him, but trying to get 100% completion on that game is udder insanity. Okami, HD, however… again after a month break after finishing TLG, I started replaying Okami. I think I had only managed to get about halfway through the game before I just… stopped playing it on my ps2 version. I am currently SO CLOSE to getting a 100% on the ps4 version. In fact, I’ve beaten the game. I only (techinically) need 2 more trophies to be done; 1st, escape the water dragon without being eaten, 2nd, I need to beat that dumb stupid race with Kai, in order to get the last bead on my rosary, as well as the top dog trophy. I hate her so much. I hate this race so much. It’s awful and bad.

Flash forward to December! Earlier this month I was at Barnes and Noble, buying myself a planner for 2020. I exit the store and notice that there’s a gamestop across the street. For shits and giggles I go inside to look at their game selection, and I find KH 1.5 and 2.5. Now, my PS2 died a few years back (it just won’t read my discs anymore, I don’t know why) and I haven’t been able to replay any of my other kingdom hearts games since. If you had seen me the day I finished kingdom hearts 3, after the ending credits rolled, you would have heard me say “Man…. I wish I could play kingdom hearts 2 again”. AND NOW I CAN, ALONG WITH BBS which I had never even played yet, but knew the story of. I’ve restarted playing kh1, and I was so happy to hear that familiar music when I booted the game up for the first time. While at the game stop, I also picked up Rime and Tearaway, two games that had looked interesting to me. At the time of writing, I’ve finished Rime and am 25% done with tearaway. Rime was…. An interesting experience. I learned about it through Jacksepticeye’s channel a couple years back and thought the art style was enticing. For a super casual gamer like me, I found the puzzles just the right level of challenging and exploring was a blast! The music gave me VERY strong Princes Mononoke vibes, but the overall story left something to be desired. Overall I had fun, and enjoyed completing this game to 100%. Now for tearaway. Can I just say this game is super fucking adorable? I know the original was on the ps vita and the gameplay there was arguably more diverse and imaginative, but this game is just so fucking cute I don’t care?? ALSO, this game’s sound track is ABSOLUTELY incredible and I’ve only heard the first fourth of it! Listen to The Orchards, Pig Riding, and Gibbet Hill Pilgrimage for a taste of their wonderful beats and fantastic use of string and woodwinds! God, I’m so excited to get some more games in 2020. I’m proud to say I currently own more ps4 games than I ever did with my ps2 (and now the majority AREN’T Kingdom Hearts titles!), and I’m still hoping to play Journey, The Witness, and Abzu before everything becomes ps5.

What else happened to me this year. Oh, I went to a doctor for, like, the first time in seven years. I also had my blood drawn for the first time ever, and the nurse said the most disturbing thing to me while she did it. Now, whenever I get shots, I refuse to look. I did that here. So she thought it would be appropriate to say to me “Can you feel your blood leaving your body?” Lady… You can clearly see I am uncomfortable with what is happening here. Why, of all the things you could say, did you choose to say that. Unfortunately, while my doctor is nice, she keeps wanting to run tests on me, that I just cannot afford with my current salary, and my monthly insurance is about to go up to 200$ a month, so I’ve cancelled my next appointment with them, and don’t plan to go back until it’s absolutely necessary. Capitalism is fun, guys. Preventative healthcare is for wusses.

I started going to a chiropractor on a monthly basis. Story time- I don’t know when it started, but sometime late last November I began to notice that I had a headache that just... wasn’t... going away? And each day it was starting to get a little worse. It made it hard for me to find a comfortable position to sleep, it made it hard for me to be in bright areas or move fast. So I said to myself “Okay, if this headache persist through the month of december, then something is proooobably wrong and I should go see someone about it. And hoo-boy were thing wrong with me. By the time this January rolled around, I couldn’t even stay on my feet for more than a few hours without it physically hurting to just BREATHE. So I started going to this chain called The Joint (A+ name, I know). THey aksed me “How are you doing?” I said “I’m in pain” and they said “We can help fix that!”. I’ve only been to a chiropractor once before in my life a few years back after my freshmen year of college because I began to notice my hips weren’t able to support me? LIke, I would lie on my back, and I couldn’t push my hips up when my feet were flat on the floor. I also couldn’t climb anything steep, because my legs just couldn’t push me up if my knee had to bend more than 90 degrees when I lifted my leg up. (Turned out both my hips were apparently out of place). This time only one of my hips were out of place (which they fixed. they said one of my legs was an inch “longer” than the other because I had been leaning all my weight on one leg when I stand). But two of my ribs were apparently “Stuck” which was why it was hurting for me to just breathe, and one of my shoulders was missaligned too, causing one of my trap muscles to constantly be streched, which was pulling on my skull, and causing the headache. Anyway, after they popped all my bones back into place, I still felt terrible, but by god, that night was the first time in weeks I was able to sleep without a migrane. A chiropractor can’t magically heal your arthritis, or fibro, but I definately think they have merit to keeping your posture good and helping your body with things like circulation. 10 outa 10, would recomend. It’s all the fun of getting your neck snapped without the dying!

Earlier this month I got together with two of my friends and we baked Christmas cookies. It was a lot of fun, as well as a great learning experience. A member of my family has a gluten allergy, so we used rice flour for most of the cookies. We learned this is a bad idea! The cookies will just fall apart! A few member’s in one of the friend’s family have nut allergies. Other friend and I knew this and were careful to avoid cookie recipes with nuts, bUT THEN COMPLETELY FORGOT THAT ALMOND MILK AND ALMOND EXTRACT COUNT AS NUT. IN FACT, ALMOND EXTRACT IS PURE CONCENTRATED NUT JUICE AND WE FELT SO BAD FOR ALMOST ACCIDENTALLY POISONING THE FAMILY.

Earlier this year me and these same friends took a field trip to Hobby Lobby and just dicked around the store for a couple of hours. It was super fun, 11 outa 10, would recommend, a great date idea for your artsy S.O.

Back in May I went to a wedding for the first time in my life. (well, not true, but the first one I could remember) we left at 5am, drove 5 hours to get there, hung out at a zoo and spent the night in a la quinta before the wedding day. I slept on the bathroom floor because my mom was snoring too loud in the main room and keeping me awake, and the rest of the day was just spent me trying to keep myself together because I was pissed off and tired.

Other than all of that, nothing really major happened to me this year. I guess one more thing I’ve tried to do this year is started the process of breaking certain internet addictions so I can use my free time for more personal projects. Seriously, I found myself watching way too much youtube and following blogs that didn’t even make me happy. I had a personal intervention with myself where I sat down and asked myself, “why do you watch these videos and youtubers? Why do you follow these blogs? Do you really enjoy their content? Do you really care? If you stopped watching/following them, would you even notice?” After critically thinking it over, I’ve found myself unfollowing several channels and blogs and suddenly I feel so much happier. I thought I would miss it, but I realized I didn’t really care if I saw their content or not. I wasn’t missing much. And now I feel like I have more time to draw, read and write. If you think you spend too much time consuming and not enough time creating, I suggest you try and de-clutter your internet habits as well. It’s done wonders to un-fuck my headspace.

I thought I would give some updates in this post since I’ve been less active lately! 1. I fell. Casually causing pain to myself. I am accident prone btw 😂 I twisted my ankle and wiped out on the ground. I’m alright. Just sore and achey. I have brittle bones, so small things like that hurt me a bit more hehe. (Also me: I’m gonna clean my room and vacuum today oof) 2. Getting good photos is HARD. Winter is here and it is cloudy and darkish most days. 3. I was feeling wiped out last week because I had a lot go on, but I’m here now! 4. I still need to get caught up with uploading the rest of my YT videos to IGTV. I hope to film my flip through and highlights soon. 5. I am working on a video for how I do my journal spreads. Almost like a journal class. The lighting makes it hard and I want to make it kinda long. It will be in real time. I had a theme all ready, weather wasn’t the best. It was autumn themed, it snowed, and then I got confused. So I am trying to find a new theme to do. I like to be 100% sure and confident for a theme with a video like this. I am not good at talking and working, so I want to have a clear idea and right now... I don’t 😆 6. I had the giveaway stuff ready, but I changed my mind. I wasn’t 100% confident in what I had made. so I said I’d have another update on my Situation and here it is

my girlfriend and I are aiming to be moved in together by July of 2020, and because of this + recent events in our lives, it’s becoming more and more urgent to be able to financially support myself.

because of this, I can’t justify spending as much time writing fanfiction as I have been, because I can’t earn any money off fanfiction. I’m still gonna finish all my in-progress fics, maybe start some new ones when I’ve cut down my WIPs, but the three updates a week thing… yeah, I can’t justify that, especially on top of my job.

so what’s gonna happen?

I’ve changed my secret update schedule to one fanfic update a week, on monday. this is mostly gonna be wrapping up in-progress chaptered fics, though I might post a oneshot once in a while, and I’ve got a spiderverse fic I desperately want to start. (chapter 9 of bucket list is set to update tomorrow, if you’re interested.)

I’m going to talk about my original writing a lot more here. hopefully that is OK with y’all. a lot of the same themes in my fanfics show up in my original writing, and plenty of it will be posted on my website for free.

however, I will probably be plugging stuff that costs money, either my patreon or stuff I’ve posted on my itch.io page. right now my patreon is… honestly not worth pledging to right now lol, but I’ll give you updates, and if you do pledge now you’ll see some cool stuff.

(as a note, I’d really rather you only pay for my stuff if you’re over 20 or so. I’m not super comfortable taking your money if you’re younger than that.)

also, I’m probably gonna be running Some Sort of Sale Thing soon, because I had to take a chunk of money out of my savings recently, and it needs to be refilled. it’s not strictly urgent, it’s just… if I’m Very Careful and Don’t Buy Anything Nice For Myself, it’ll still take me 5 months to refill it. I’d like to get it done in 2.

I won’t be asking for donations, because it’s not urgent or any sort of emergency; this will be something I make and put up for sale. it won’t be commissions either bc I suck at those and don’t trust myself to offer them again.

I’ll talk about my original projects in the next post, but right now, I have to catch a train. I hope you’re having a good day!

While I will get to the small backlog of writing prompts I have yet to get to eventually, I’m feeling up to telling a different story involving the Followers. Today, you’re getting the origin story.

Not the characters, oh no, this is the story of how this shit show came together into something coherent. Buckle up, this is gonna be a long one.

As some of you may know, the Followers are each loosely based around and upon eight members of patrons on the Internet Remix Patreon server. I happen to only truly ‘own’ Witch; every other character involved belongs to the person that originally came up with them. If you didn’t happen to know this, here’s a quick rundown of everyone involved:

Now, this was right around when Internet Remix was announcing Camp Streamix and all of us on the Patreon server were choosing teams. A couple of us immediately rallied around Kristen and Team Murder, each for our own reasons (Onyx in solidarity for also living in the void state, Missfoxx given her longstanding friendship with Kristen, me for the storytelling and a long running joke that I was Kristen’s witch, Arahul for the intrigue, and Archer for the horror elements).

Not long after this, we all got to joking that as the patrons, we were like Kristen’s followers in a way. I was the first one to really create a ‘persona’ as a follower of team murder, someone who vaguely resembled me and was dressed in red (a precursor to Witch’s final design). Given that I was already ‘the witch’ in another long since dead RP thing with some of my friends, I began to take the title of The Witch as a joke. Not long after, those of already committed to Team Murder all began discussing what we would each be if we had to put a role to what each of us were.

Missfoxx was the older priest of the group, given that she had the longest relationship with Kristen.

Onyx was the right hand, given the two of them were both ‘void denizens’ and he already had jokingly begin to call Kristen ‘captain’ once he declared Team Murder.

Arahul was more of an advising figure, given that most of us consider him especially wise for his age.

Archer, perhaps a bit more on the nose, would obviously be a hunter of sorts given her name, the executioner as you will.

Along the way, we began joking that we needed a younger priest to complement the older, and jokingly said that we could just ‘steal’ Myst away if we really needed to.

And slowly, we began constructing characters.

After a little of this brainstorming and realizing that I happened to be really good at putting together something out of sparse details, I made the decision to go everyone and ask “Hey, I have this idea for a story, mind if I piece some things together and try and make this more coherent?”

One by one, they each said yes, giving me little details on clothing and background, but ultimately leaving a lot of the larger stuff to me. So I took the threads all my friends gave me, thought about what I could do with it, and began to weave.

The Followers were born out of that weaving, a set of demi-gods and ‘angels by any other name’ who loyally serve the Murder God.

As I was writing, I realized with my own character, the Witch, matched perfectly to the witch role within the DMP game, and so that thread was woven into the story thread.

Lieutenant and Old Priestess became more than their titles; they were now the two werewolves, partners in crime, and influential beyond belief.

Advisor became the seer, able to peek into people’s minds and into the future.

Huntress became the gunslinger, searching for justice and agency.

Young Priest became the gardener, a speck of flavor text and light in a dark world.

I was never expecting this little fan project to become as popular as it did, but it absolutely exploded among the people who were involved and among others in the Patreon server. People encouraged me to write more, and once I realized just how far this silly little project had reached, I decided to start plan out a small sequel project that would bring in some elements I had hinted in the original introductory work.

During this continual worldbuilding, things slowly began expanding out of that small, initial circle. Not long after, we brought Carl into the mix, as she was jokingly called the ‘bookkeeper’ given that she always fills up the out of context quotes chat and had introduced her own sort of ‘follower’ character not connected to the work I had done. Thus the Bookkeeper was born, representing the minion role and the group’s scribe

Kyle’s character followed soon after, though his was on a technicality. Because he wasn’t officially really any team with his penchant of donating to whichever team he felt like, we said that any character of his would just be there part time. Thus the Part Timer was born, representing the Doctor role and the group’s technology expert and partial spy.

With that, we had eight followers, which was all I could both reasonably write, and perhaps symbolically, represented the eight legs of a spider (given the large theme of webbing and the like). I promised to include these two new characters into the sequel series and give them their own time to shine, along with learning more about the current cast.

With all these characters finally listed out, there was only one last thing to do. Give them their proper titles and honorifics fitting of the original five and the three that wandered in.

Young Priest: Admiral of the Canvas

There was quite a bit more behinds the scenes work involved with this journey, of course, and I could never have done this without the help of all of my friends who helped me build this world, bring it to live, and paint it in beautiful colors. And, of course, it wouldn’t be where it is today without all the people who read it and told me ‘I want to see more of this’.

So, believe me when I give my sincere thanks to you all for helping me to get this far.

And as for when the next update is coming? I can’t promise anything precise.

Updates! (Commission, projects, patreon, etc.)

♥ Webcomic:

Myfavorite part of a new project is, tbh, the research & conceptualization portion of things.

The librarian comic concept is being put on the shelf (pun not entirely intended) for the moment because I strongly believe a concept should be, at it’s core, clear enough that it can be expressed in a sentence or two -- and I’m not quite there with that project just yet.

I have snippets of plot, of characters, place, purpose (and supplementary media) - but I still need an overarching hook. A way to succinctly sum it all up thematically.

I do, however, have another story I am working on! More details soon, unless you’re a patron over on patreon, where I’ve been talking a lot about my planning and conceptualization process in my discord community! ;)

I can update monthly, yes, that's for sure. I tested it these past 3 month. I would not do more, at the moment; I need to test the water. See how it goes, and adapt the content after your feedback.

So.... NSFW stuff, hé?

Well, if you've visted my FurAffinity page (and are old enough to see it), you know that I do like to draw sexual content. It is not something that I will do every day, sure, but I quite like it and would like to do more of it. The access to those works will be under strict control, since I know that half of my fanbase is underage or are not interested about this kind of stuff.

Illustrations, tutoriels, then online shop, 3D modeling and figurines? Isn't it a lot to do? It seems all over the place.

It would be per month, so, no, it's not too much for me. Right now, I will only be producing illustrations, streams, sketches and managing a Discord for Patrons, so it is quite managable. The Discord already exist and has been tested. I may find someone to help me manage it in the future, and the number of students under my wing will be limited.

For the rest, what's I want in the future, yes, one 3D model would take more than one month to make. Then, as I said, I will adapt the content to what you guys want. I already know how to do it. I have the materials for it. It's not really different from what I already do, except I will do it for you. A sketch can be turned into an illustration that I will stream, then can be turned into a 3D model that will either be for videogame production or 3D printing, or just for view and render. Those are just different branches of the same tree, in my chain of production. Plus, if things go this far, I will have the means to hire someone to help me. Maybe one of you guys, héhé...

It's not for nothing than I only propose illustrations and art classes at the moment. 3D stuff and video game making demands more money and time to do than illustrations and streams. Only your participation and feedback will tell me if we can get further in this project...

I don't want to participate. What's in stock for the non-patrons? Is everything going to be behind a paywall?

On Discord, you can view the FAQ and have view-only access to the inspiration board, view-only of science talk, mental illness talk, video games talk and the radio.

Some of the illustrations and sketches done for Patreon will be released for free, after a time, but it won't be much and maybe not what you want to see the most.

I realize what I am asking for. I am so, so grateful for every bit of support you're giving me. I cannot repeat enough how much this means to me.

As most artists, I believe in free sharing; but capitalism doesn't agree with me on that, folks. My hope is that I can finance my creations via Patreon so that they could be released for free out there; but for more complex, time-consuming stuff, it is simply not possible. Patreon is the only plateform, with kickstarter, that gets projects funded with people giving such a small amount of money by individuals.

As I said earlier, having a Patreon seems the most fair thing to do. At the end, it's your choice of course. But bare in mind that I will go that much slower without you.

I would love to read what you have to say about this project, even if you already feel like you won't be participating. Do you find all of this interesting? Do you already have a favorite theme you would like me to focus on? Is there some part of what I offer that interests you more than another?

Have you considered adding another way to get the effect of the Denial mantra besides Hypnosis, maybe a Corruption or something? I like the effect, which makes it a little unfortunate I can't get it on trained slaves due to the degree of exclusivity between training a slave vs hypnotizing one.

- - There is a mechanic where some slavers with either Hypnosis or a bunch of other potentially mind affecting traits have a chance to implant certain mantras on certain trainings. Denial isn't one of them yet, but I can definitely see that being included on a future training.

- - They're rolled at the beginning of the game, and do get affected at least partially by their traits. So someone who started with Leader will like being a Second-in-Command or Spiritual Leader more, and visa versa for someone with Follower. There are morning events where they can shift upwards and downwards. There are relationships that can form between slavers. So far there's a couple of assignments that can form relationships for good and bad. There will likely be other ways for them to happen in future.

- - There's only a couple of assignments like Witch-Queen that are one offs and I've had that feedback from others so now it won't appear as early as it used to. Glad you liked it! Funny you say that too as this week we've been doing some polling games on the discord where various stuff gets matched against the other in random eliminations and Private Passage was voted best assignment ever (Spectacle of the Sacred was second, and third place was A Deluge of Oozes). Bad rng I'm guessing, as it's made to be repeatable.

- - Pretty much exactly that. Didn't have much interest in that MMO, and yet the concept they had of collecting various lower deck type officers who all had their own traits, and then sending them off to do various stuff from raiding enemy ships down to putting on a play (no lie, that likely will be a NH assignment sooner or later) for various rewards I found to be surprisingly compelling. So like with WR where I took a chan dice roller game and thought can I do this in RAGS, I had the same thought with the doff system. Of course I've complicated and expanded on the idea a whole bunch since.

Also was unaware of Fort of Chains, but on looking they do give me a shout out which is most appreciated, thanks!

- - Strong Right Arm and Recruiter should be removed after the game starts, but yes that's a good idea. What I'll likely do is redo that miscellaneous full custom options and all of those Encampment specific which makes sense as they're not so specific to the player themself.

- - I have yes. The idea was to do a 'super-villain' style start under the scenarios where you'd have some big advantage to counteract the lack of staff, like being better at planning, being better at seducing minions, or just having lots of gold and a better source of mercenaries. Fleet is already in there, Flying possibly, but I like having that as part of slaver upgrades as a big perk from that, and Bimbo is available in the patreon TF edition version.

- - I would definitely like to get more images of the encampment like that one I got with the wright, succubus, neko, tentacle beast, and sleeping lamia. There's going to be at least one assignment I have planned that's so long you'll need to designate a leader for it if you don't go yourself and then that way they'll be the one to get to make the various choices that come up. I'm also thinking it'll be fun that you'll have a choice for them to try to take over when they get back in case you liked playing them so much.

- - There's not. If you get puppet leadered you become immune to being enslaved, as the encampment basically treats you like a slave by that point anyway. I can definitely see a case though there should be a way for things to go bad enough that both you and whoever is puppetting you ends up being enslaved. Could be a fun event that.

- - Biomancy is getting an improvement in the next release via a reward from one of the new assignments. That also was one of the needed steps on the storyline I have in mind for it. As to finishing? Well that could be awhile. There's a commission I need for the ending that will need to be done, likely when I can afford it as a bonus as it's one I want to keep as a surprise so will be only in the game. There's also at least one or two more assignments that will also have general usage outside of the storyline. I know how it ends, and that's all been worked out. I do though need to work out some more of the mid-steps and I'm not sure at this point how many there should be. Definitely will be at least one though and that will also need a commission.

- - Not sure what you mean by that one? Yes I do want to do more interaction between your slavers so they're not all focused so much on you. That will likely be more in dilemmas. Third, likely not. I prefer to keep that as a patron thing so I can give it more care and attention.

If you do like it, want to see more of it then please let me know, and I'll then be more likely to come back to it. Not a lot of point developing something that's a cat when people keep moaning that it's not a dog, and doesn't even bark, but if you do like the cat, and happy with it being a cat, I'm totally down for coming back so it's not such an unfinished cat. - - This year has not been great to put it lightly. Then this one still does puzzle me. I do a public post on the patreon that's also linked on the twitter every two weeks, and I've given updates on how things are going. I've checked on another browser where I wasn't signed in and it worked fine? I've also been posting the patch notes on the current patreon release on the twitter as twitlongers so there also should be no issue with accessing those.

Anyway, the new public release will be out very soon indeed so you won't have to wait much longer.

Coming events.

This is sort of an all purpose update post. I've been scarce this past week or so which shouldn't be a huge surprise. I'd been working a lot leading up to Christmas and the few days afterwards continued that trend. Add onto this fact I had a lot of family in town and so the house was crowded and privacy was not a thing I could get. I realize now that it was pretty naive to think I could get a story update done while I was worn out from work and family, but I was hoping to do so anyway. Family has left and work has settled down so I'm going to play catch up this week and ideally have the Gak fic done soon. There's one other short story I'd love to do after that to wrap up the holiday season. It'll be way late for Christmas by that point though. At least with the Gak fic it's not overtly Christmas themed so I can get away with it.

Now to touch on this coming year. One of the things I'd love to do is to do more work on series. I haven't touched Claves in a year and that's a series I love. As much as I love the variety that monthly short stories afford me, it makes it rough to do a series update regularly especially if I want to do a plot heavy update instead of just pure smut. I need to strike a better balance so that I can progress things that I haven't had time to do in a while. I've got ideas for new Claves stuff, plenty of Gak stuff, even a Hyperactive Imagination story or two, and of course I can continue reworking Geno-type (it's been on hold for too long because I want to redo the current chapter from scratch but that's gonna take a lot of time and effort since it's a pretty huge deal in the story.) One thing I’m not sure about is if I should restructure my Patreon to afford more chances to do main series updates or even how to restructure it if I decide to do it.

Now all I have to do is get the momentum rolling and not catch the death plague that everyone else in this house seems to have come down with. I’ve been holed up in my room as much as possible with a giant bottle of Airborne immune boosters so hopefully I can dodge this disease.

New decade, new follower milestone, and the theme going forward is “that ADHD mood” (x) apparently.

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, I figured it was getting annoying every month, but 40,000 seems like a good number to welcome all the new folk, post some updates, and say how thankful I am for everyone who has been with me over the last half decade since my blog went viral and turned my life upside down in the best way possible. I know most of you came for the funny shitposts and found yourselves with an unexpected frontrow seat to watching someone repeatedly nearly die from an unknown illness, and I know that can’t have been much fun to watch, but thank you for being here and staying with me. Your support and kindess has been invaluable, and I am sincere when I say you are part of the reason I am still here, both on this blog and in this world. Without your compassion and support over the last five years I know I wouldn’t have made it, and for that you have my eternal gratitude and I will spend the rest of my life trying everyday to pay it forward. I am also multiply disabled with at least one genetic disability and several chronic illnesses and mentalh health issues that make keeping up with a high traffic blog very difficult. I never expected to become a hub for shitposts and chronic illness/ADHD resources, but here we are!

Scribe By Night update April 2017

✒️ Hello Calligraphy friends and fans, my name is Cidio and I am the editor for @calligraphy and @scribebynight, as well as the manager of our patreon campaign at Patreon.com/Calligraphy.

Announcements: After this month with the contest ending on April 30th, I will be discontinuing our Calligraphy Submission contest for a while. I love the contest and we do good things, but honestly I am out of money for our charity pledge. So we will see how we are doing in a few months, and see if we can start again. We will still accept submissions, and we will still have a theme challenge for those who want to participate in something, but we will not have a winner and we will not be supporting a featured charity with our efforts. On a positive note, I will be reblogging most of our submissions to the @calligraphy blog, and that blog is now also accepting it’s own submissions.

If you are wondering why I have been stressed for the past few months, they canceled my dad’s life insurance without telling us, while also still billing us for “insurance”. So our house is not payed off, and I can not afford to bury my dad. I got a job, and I will probably need a second job too, but as long as our patreon campaign takes off soon everything should be alright eventually.

To give our campaign a better chance to succeed I spent some of my savings to have a promotional video made. But I am still trying to find a way to encourage people to share it, or at least watch it.

I think for a video promoting a calligraphy patreon, I’m guessing, it should probably have more calligraphy in it. But the campaign is new and we haven’t sponsored any content yet that we could include in our video. Maybe I can post an updated version later. But I am in a stalemate right now. I need to recruit contributors, so I can recruit patrons, and I need to recruit patrons so I can recruit contributors.

Our patrons will help us hire artists. Our artists will help us build our brand and collect new subscribers. Some of our subscribers will also support us by buying what we have to sell. But since we don’t have anything to sell at the moment, that would be the next step. Then we could offer our patrons and contributors discounts on products from our brand of calligraphy supplies, which would encourage more people to become patrons.

I’m excited you guys. Just think of all the wonderful scribe by night stuff you will be able to get. Pens, ink, paper, prints, posters, postcards, greeting cards, t-shirts, tea cups, coffee cups, underpants, tote bags, instructional books, educational books, story books, notebooks. Honestly I don’t have a clue what people would want most, but I’m sure I with a little help from my friends we can make it.

Workbench Monthly

Now that I’m getting back into the swing of things I wanted a more consistent way to keep people updated on just what I am working on. Workbench Wednesday is already a great thing in many circles (Especially the people who found me through my miniature work), so I came up with a concept I am calling Workbench Monthly. This will release on the first Wednesday of the month and will contain a comprehensive overview of what I have been working on during that period and any concepts I’m kicking around for future projects.

This doesn’t mean I won’t be doing other periodic updates if I want feedback or to tease certain work, but hopefully, this will help people get a better idea of the progress of my various projects.

Miniatures

Honestly, most of these are on hold now due to lack of funds, but the creative juices are still flowing. Many people have been following me for the Wraith Fleet work I’ve done (especially on twitter) and I have really enjoyed doing those nautically themed water spirits. So much so that I’d like to do something similar for each Grand Alliance at some point. To do this I’ve made some changes to the project.

First, I’m changing the name to Muireann’s Chosen and will make an overall campaign/army book for it under this name (Wanted one for my projects ever since seeing some great custom ones online for tournaments). Besides lore and such this will be divided between the Wraithfleet (Death), Marijke’s Children (Destruction), The Stormcalled Reavers (Chaos) and Niyda Radahad’s Privateers (Order).

The goal is to convert up a 1000 pts of each faction, though I plan to bring the Wraithfleet up to at least 2000 as it is the force I want to play with. To that end I’ve been kicking around some army list ideas so they won’t be completely useless on the tabletop, but fluff and design are my main concerns. So, let's take a look at each faction.

Wraithfleet: This is what I’m most known for, though haven’t made any new progress lately. The big addition to this is the land-based section I’ve designed around a reborn Isabella von Carstein. I’ve also drawn up a rough idea of a display board that I might try to get done for Armies on Parade 2019.

Marijke’s Children: So full disclaimer… I have been watching a lot of Pirate Coast videos for Total War: Warhammer. And I LOVE the designs made in that game. The idea for this one right now is an Arachnarok Junk Ship named Marijke and the spider cult that worships her and her hermit spider children. So far this includes Marijke herself, Spider Riders converted to have hermit crab shells and Ogors converted up to fill the ranks as a sudo-animated hulk/spider baby incubator.

The Stormcalled Reavers: I couldn’t come up with a concept for Chaos for a long time. I didn’t really want to do deamons partially because I couldn’t pick a patron god and partially because I’ll probably revive an old Slaannesh project when their new stuff drops. Then enter the Godsworn Hunt. I’ve always liked the design of the Darkoath Queen and with this new warband for Underworlds it inspired me to do something around them. So far, the concept is a maori-ish tribe who seek to slay great beasts. Beyond getting the warband and adding the Chieftain and Queen I’m thinking of throwing in a warshrine done up as a salvaged airship/whaling barge.

Niyda Radahad’s Privateers: I’m still undecided with this, though I am leaning towards some kind of Elvish themed Overlords or maybe a mixed list with KO and Elves riding giant seabirds. Unfortunately, this faction has the least design input so far.

Keep an eye out for updates on these as I develop their lore.

Next up a friend of mine picked up the Kill Team 2 player set this weekend so I’m currently kicking around plans for that. I will probably go with the Inquisition/Guard Kill Team I used when my local group was playing the Heralds of Ruin ruleset. I never got to finish it as the group stopped playing before I got it where I liked. Basic conversions using Empire Greatswords and Cadians. Will probably have to come up with a few new units considering how different GW’s KT is compared to HoR.

Other than that, I have plans to build a scenery board for our family Christmas village we set up every year, which I will probably post on here as well.

Tabletop

Alright onto the meat of this month’s article. As many who follow the blog know I had some setbacks early in the year. First, my computer died and then I lost a notebook full of notes, so it has taken quite a while to recreate those ideas and afford a new computer. But I am now back up and working.

First let’s look at the project I’ve made the least progress on: Savage Stuffing.

I’ve cleaned up the initial document and believe I have a working resolution system for the game. I need to organise a destruction playtest to see if this works before expanding on the other mechanics. I’ve also outlined the various sections in the book, initial magic and equipment as well as the playtest adventure. Probably won’t see any real work done on this project in 2018.

Now let’s take a look at my main project: Goblins & Kobolds.

So, I’ve added an upgrade to my office in the form of a project board and have taken another look at the overall project to get a feel of the financial and creative obligations to make the project what I wanted and to keep myself focus on the design points. While working on this I have once again changed the scope of the project.

Between the Goblin’s book and Kobold’s book I realized I had a new subclass for 6 classes, 3 in each book. I eventually decided to increase that to 4 in each book and add a few new subclasses and racial subtypes to the final book, which I hadn’t planned on doing originally.

This means that Book 1 for each arch will have the race, 3 racial subtypes, 1 subclass for 4 different classes (themed either racially or to the setting) as well as items and equipment themed for those environments. The mega dungeon book will also include 1 subclass for 4 different classes and an additional racial subtype themed to a more nautical location.

Now let’s look at the progress for book 1 in the Winter Trilogy: Fistful of Silver.

Managed to get quite a bit done. The Goblin PC race is complete, including its subtypes. I have also completed work on the Destruction Domain (Cleric) and Goblin Outrider (Fighter). Sapper (Rogue) and Witchling (Sorcerer) have been outlined, but I’m still adjusting them for fit and balance, so they aren’t quite ready but are about 90% complete.

The Equipment and Item section has been outlined with everything I plan to include, just working on some stats and pricing. Probably about 60% done here.

I’ve outlined the crafting system and environmental hazards but that’s all for these sections.

For the Adventure, I have all the locales designed and prototype maps drawn up (which you may have seen on my Instagram or Twitter). I have also written out the progression for the adventure and noted what monsters appear where, so all the preliminary work is complete. All that remains now is to flesh out the writing and stat up the unique monsters that appear in the adventure, so I’d say 50% complete here.

I’m happy with the progress so far. Not quite as far along as I planned to be this year, but it is almost ready for playtesting. The plan right now is to finish the writing by the end of 2018 and then begin playtesting after the holidays, so mid-late January.

I have also written out a rough design draft for the Sand Trilogy Book 1: Run, Kobold, Run.

Everything is in the early design phase, but I do have design concepts written up for the following;

Kobold race (Common, Winged, Sand)

Scorpion Hunter (Monk), Dragonshield (Paladin), Dustblight (Ranger), Wyrm Priest (Warlock)

Adventure Setting

Basic Adventure plot and progression.
