#I still feel like the writers did Rachel dirty

Text
I'm working on my season 5a/6 Marvey AU today and it took me an embarassing amount of time to realize that Rachel called her Dad first when Mike was arrested (before even telling Harvey) because her first impulse was to find a way to force Mike to turn on Harvey. The worst night of his life and she sics her angry father (who will now hate Mike forever) on him to manipulate him into betraying the one person he might love more than her.
She didn't just think about it for a second like she admits to Mike when they fight, it was her main goal from minute one. She only backs off when Mike freaks out when she vocalizes it. It's like she only realizes in that moment that he may actually leave her if she tries to push the issue.
I get that she resents how close Mike and Harvey are and she feels like Harvey put Mike in this position. But Mike's just as guilty as Harvey is, and she wouldn't have given Mike the time of day if Harvey hadn't brought him in. He's the only reason she has Mike at all, and her first impulse is to throw him under the bus regardless of what Mike wants.
It just makes Rachel's entire character feel icky. Like I know Gibbs tries to get her to make a deal to go against Harvey later in the season but the fact that it's literally her first impulse without Gibbs even making the offer is just... ick.

No show endgame ship has ever angered me as much as Chuck and Blair. There are many endgame ships that I don't like at all such as Ross and Rachel, Lucas and Peyton, Kelso and Jackie etc...but still no endgame ship has ever made me as mad as Chair. Blair did not deserve to end up with her abuser. I will stand on this hill forever. I can't get over how dirty they did her. Blair was starting to grow to break the trauma bond she had with Chuck, she was becoming independent, strong and gaining her confidence back. She was finally in a place where she was happy and in a healthy relationship, and then the writers strip all that development she had away just so she could end up with her abuser. Chuck Bass is the worst type of person and it makes me sick to my stomach to think she ends up with that man! I know Chair is a popular ship but I don't care my girl Blair deserved so much better than the ending she got and I'll never get over it! It literally infuriates me to no end to think she ended up with Chuck!
"I loved Chuck for so long and he's punished me for it. He ended up treating me like something he owned not like something he earned."
He treated her so terrible he made her feel so bad countless times to the point he started to break her down. He mentally, emotionally, and physically abused her. He told her he didn't want her anymore then compares her to an animal. He sold her for a hotel and physically assaulted her, and he never gets better!
Blair: "Louis asked me to marry him." Chuck: "You won't marry anyone else, you're mine." Blair: "I wanted to be. I wanted it so badly. Not anymore." Chuck: "You're mine, Blair." Blair: "No! Stop it Chuck! I said it's over."
He's awful from start to finish and continues to abuse her throughout the course of the show so she is stuck in a trauma bond with him and no matter how awful he treats her she continues to go back to him. This is textbook abusive relationship. It will never not make me angry how the writers had her end up with him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is so awful to her and I just wanted so much better for her. Everytime I think about how they minimized her to be with Chuck and took away her development I get so upset.

anymore gems within your drafts/unpublished?
Oh, I would not call them gems lol. But yes, there's more. I'll throw a few out there for you under the cut.
I have almost 4k in a document titled "angst" and I don't remember anything about it lol. Why did I just call it angst? I never moved it to the scrapped folder, so when I have time, maybe I'll read through that.
I have one called "Gretchen wins" with a summary of: "the groups fracture, and this is who stays together, and who drifts apart"
There's a post island one where Gretchen goes to prison, and Leah and Fatin go to visit her to try to get answers. I actually liked the start of that but couldn't figure out where it was going, even though I had some ideas like:
"Leah and Fatin had SOMETHING their first year off the island but it fell apart
Leah killed Raf in self-defense on the second island after Raf claims he was told by Seth that he needed to kill Leah to bring a real end to the experiment – and it ended after Leah killed Raf
Kirin killed Seth after Seth threatened Fatin"
I tried to write a fic set 5 years after the events of the island focused on everyone and I jotted a lot of ideas but didn't write much of the fic, but those ideas were:
"Five years on:
Gretchen behind bars
Everyone is 22-23
Fatin is an influencer who lives in LA with Dot after refusing to go to Juilliard
Leah’s in a graduate program at Berkeley; seems well-adjusted to Fatin; she killed Seth in self-defense on the second island
Nora’s in a graduate program in New York
Rachel’s living with Leah in Berkeley, unbeknownst to Fatin initially; working to mend her relationship with Nora
Toni got back together with Regan sometime over the course of the last five years
Martha and Shelby live together in Minnesota; Shelby leads a youth group at a local Christian church and Martha’s working to become a vet
Kirin’s in California living as an influencer after the media decided to focus on him initially when the story broke but he’s deeply unhappy; closeted, came onto Ivan on the second island but was seriously rejected; living with Josh platonically
Ivan’s in Seattle working as a writer, publishes a memoir focused on his time on the islands on the five year anniversary in which he airs all the group’s dirty laundry
Raf is one of Leah’s friends at Berkeley
Bo and Scotty are in Florida but not on speaking terms
Henry’s an indie musician working out of Chicago
Josh is living with Kirin and struggling with addiction
On the second island:
Leah kills Seth in self-defense
Kirin comes onto Ivan and is seriously rejected
Toni and Shelby get back together (only for them to break up after Shelby moves to Minnesota)
Fatin kisses Leah first and they sleep together, and afterwards Fatin confesses that she has feelings but Leah says she’s not ready for a relationship and confirms her feelings for Fatin are confusing, but it all gets shelved when Fatin moves to LA"
I know, now I'm dumping blocks of text on you. None of those fics have been classified as scrapped yet. Some of them probably should be. And baby, there are still MORE but I'd have to read through them to figure out what to say about them and I don't have time for that at the moment lol.
Oh, but I did scrap a fic where I tried to write a Leatin breakup. It didn't go anywhere.

smut night masterlist
the earphones feeds music into your ears, your hips shaking in figure 8′s to your favourite song. Unbeknownst to you, you sang as you feel yourself entirely immersed in the song. it’s a good song!, you’d normally argue if someone heard you. The bathroom cupboards are open as you search for your skin care products, hindering you from seeing the now-open door behind you. Jason stands in the doorway, his jaw dropping to the ground in awe while he watches you sing your heart out.
Sure, he had gotten the occasional thought here and there about you. The way you looked so drop-dead-gorgeous in your vigilante suit made him wander what you’d look like naked. But now here you are, topless with your back to him, hips moving in such a way, a dirty thought crosses his mind.
You close the mirror cupboards and let out a staled scream as you notice him in the doorway.
“Jason!” you squeal, using your arms to over your bare chest.
“I-i’m sorry I-” his cheeks flush a deep shade of red, his eyes averting towards the ground as he closes the door quickly. He honestly didn’t mean to stand and stare for as long as he did. He was just so captivated by you - this, of course, only made his crush on you worse.
You sigh and let out a small laugh of embarrassment, cheeks heating up and heart racing as you shake your head and turn the taps in the shower.
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
to say dinner was awkward as hell would be a complete understatement. Neither you or Jason said a word, which was unusual for you both. Normally you, jason, gar, and rachel would be in deep conversation about something dick didn’t understand. kids these days, I swear, he’d usually roll his eyes in pure amusement. But tonight, everyone could sense the tension, but no one dared to say a word.
it was late at night. Your thoughts still racing around your head, rendering you from being able to fall asleep. So instead, you propped your laptop on your lap, shuffled your body in your bed slightly angled up so you’re not fully lying on flat on your back, and clicked on a new tv show you’d been meaning to watch on Netflix. While watching the show, you mindlessly slide your sweatpants off, throwing them towards your dressing table to remind you to put them in the wash later, leaving you in only your panties and oversized shirt.
it hasn't even been 15 minutes into the show when a small knock is placed on your door. You sigh, slightly annoyed that you have to stop the show and get out of your comfy bed. You open the door, and immediately, your eyes soften at the sight of Jason standing with his hands in his sweater pocket.
“hi,” your voice so gentle, it manages to soothe some of jason’s worries about the incident from earlier.
“hey,” he mumbles back with a small smile. “I wanted to apologise for what happened. I didn’t mean to stare, honestly. I just got caught in the moment, I don’t really know what came over me,” he laughs nervously.
“it’s okay,” you chuckle, finding it amusing that he’s so nervous. You'd grown to know Jason as this arrogant and cocky son-of-a-bitch, which only made you find him cuter. It was weird, you know, but there was just something about Jason that was just so appealing to you.
“I found it quite funny to be completely honest. No hard feelings.” that makes him feel better.
“oh, thank god,” he sighs in relief. “anyway, uh, that’s all I wanted to say. night.” Jason goes to turn on his heel to go back towards his room.
“Jason, wait.” he turns towards you, one eyebrow rising in curiosity. before you could really comprehend what you were about to do, you step forward towards him, cupping his cheeks as you press your lips to his. They’re softer than you had imagined; the sugary taste of Pepsi still playing sweetly on his lips.
You pull away and sheepishly look down at the ground. To your surprise, Jason pulls you closer to him, kissing you harder. Though this wasn’t how he planned to finally kiss you, this is good enough; he certainly wasn’t going to complain having your lips on his.
gently, you tug on his sweater, pulling him into your room before detaching your lips from his. You close the door and shrug off your jacket, eyes never leaving his lips as they are all that’s on your mind. you never even realised how bad you wanted him until now.
“is now a good time to tell you I like you?” Jason jokes, feeling his heart race even more than before. You laugh softly, shaking your head at him before snaking your hand around the back of his neck and pulling him down to you.
“of course,” you whisper on his lips, your heart fluttering as he smiles into the kiss. “i like you too.”
You guide him gently to the bed, pushing him down before hovering over him. He chuckles slightly and flips you over, hands pinning yours on either side of your head. His lips trail down your neck, sucking on the spot that makes you gasp. Letting one hand slip out of his, you tug on the strands of hair at the nape of his neck, sighing out curses along with his name.
“is this okay?” Jason asks, pulling away and tugging at your shirt. You nod and lean up to kiss him. He sits on his knees, and just as you did for him, he helps you out of your shirt.
“wow,” he breathes out, eyes gazing in wonderment at your breasts. Your cheeks flush in response. Sure, you’d had your fair share of boyfriends, but none of them really appreciated you, let alone praised your body in absolute authenticity. Jason hovers over you again, laughing into the kiss as you do the same.
“can I take this off?” You whisper, hands pulling at the drawstring of his pants. The chuckle of amusement that leaves his lips causes the heat of your cheeks to rise. He shuffles himself out off his pants before capturing your lips with his. The gliding of Jason’s fingertips down your body makes your back arch into him, silently begging for more.
His thumb grazes over your clothed clit, eyes looking deep into yours as he silently asks for permission. You snake your hands around his neck, pulling him down towards you while bucking your hips into his hand to let him know it was more than okay.
A sigh of contentment quickly replaces your disappointed whine as Jason takes his hand away from your pussy and up to your right breast, kneading it in a way that causes a soft moan to escape your lips. His lips plant a tender kiss on yours. You lean up into the kiss, wanting to taste more of him.
Another whine slips through your lip as he detaches from your lips, only to kiss down your neck to your breasts. He kisses over your nipple, gently sucking before pulling away to kiss the other one.
“j,” you sigh, hands tangling sweetly in his hair. Jason’s tongue swirls around your nipple, the funniest of sensations spreading through your body. You giggle, obviously having not used to this feeling in so long.
“what?” The teasing smirk on his lips only makes you giggle more.
“it tickles.” Jason flicks your nipple with his tongue, trying to tease you. Your laugh is much louder than you anticipated, your hand immediately covering your mouth. He sucks on the pulsing skin of your chest, making sure he marks every bit of you. You knew this would just get you in trouble, but neither of you cared.
Jason trails kisses down further to your cotton underwear, a kiss placed firmly on your clothed clit - teasing you just like before. His fingers hook under the fabric and swiftly pulls them down. He sucks in a breath; so taken away by your beauty.
“is this what you were hoping to see in the bathroom earlier?” You tease him, giggling sheepishly as his cheeks flush at the memory.
“oh, trust me, this is much better,” he mumbles through the kisses he’s planting on your inner thighs. Jason sits on his knees, running his hand up your body, to your breast and up your neck to your cheeks, cupping them so affectionately. He plants one final kiss on your lips, mumbling an “are you sure?”.
“yes, of course I am,” you purr, moving his hand towards your dripping clit. He practically gasps at how at wet you are, a visible smirk playing on his lips. The pad of his thumb rubs small and slow circles on your clit, sending shivers all over your body. You close your eyes and pull your bottom lip in between your teeth.
“god,” you breathe out, grinding your hips against his hand. Jason chuckles and sucks on the mellow skin of your neck while his middle finger teases your entrance. The most gorgeous sounding moan escapes your lips as he thrusts two fingers into you. His movements are slow but that’s how you wanted it to be. You didn’t want him to go hard or fast, too worried that you’d reach that release you’re in dire need of, and he’ll get up and walk away. You wanted to savour this moment as much as you could.
But with the skill of just his hand, your high approaches much faster than you wanted. The fact that he was listening to your body and paying so much attention to you only turns you on even more. That, and also his fingers feels so good inside you; from the way they feel pushing in and out of you, to the way he’ll leave his fingers pushed so deep into you and curl up to the spot that makes you moan.
Jason knows your close — your pants and soft moans are a dead give away. He thrusts his fingers a little bit faster while his thumb works faster on your clit. Your clawing at his arm, his back, anything you can get your hands on.
“fuck,” you whimper, cumming around his fingers. Jason leans down and captures your lips with his to muffle your moans. He chuckles as he pulls his hand away, bringing his fingers up to his mouth and sucking your juices off. He moans at your taste, eyes rolling shut as he simply indulges himself for a second.
“your turn,” you smirk as you flip him over. Jason can’t contain his excitement; his eyes lighting up and smirk playing teasingly on his lips. He didn’t even expect you to return the favour, but then again, he certainly wasn’t complaining.
“if this is what I get for walking in on you, then I should do it more often,” his cocky ego says. One way you could tell he was comfortable around you was when he started making sarcastic and cocky comments. You roll your eyes and slap his chest playfully.
“we’ll see about that,” you giggle, an obvious blush coursing through your cheeks. Jason’s hips lift up slightly as you shuffle his boxers down, your lip being pulled in between your teeth once again as you glance at the size of him. Holy shit.
Your hand wraps around his hard cock, earning a gasp from him. Your confidence grows with each little grunt he makes. Your eyes studying his face, falling in love with the way his eyebrows knit together slightly as he bites down hard on his lips. Leaning down, you take him in your mouth and instantly feel his hands tangle in your hair. You could tell it had been a while for him too, given the way he’s unable to control the moans that’s spilling from his mouth and just how desperate he is to get off.
“fuck, princess, don’t stop,” he grunts as his hands tighten in your hair. You bob faster, hands pressing into his hips while your thumbs caress the smooth skin over his hip bones.
“just like that, fuck, I- oh god.” He’s so much more talkative than you imagined him to be. Of course you weren’t complaining — if anything, it’s turning you on even more.
“fuck, can i- oh- can I cum in your mouth?” He moans, eyes cracking open to watch for a response. You hum around him in agreement before swirling your tongue around his tip to tease him. Just as you take him back in your mouth, liquid spills on your tongue, followed by strings of curses through pants.
You swallow and you can’t help but let out a small laugh at what just happened. Jason joins in, both of you now in fits of giggles.
“we really just did that, huh?” He laughs.

Titans 3x10
Spoilers Ahead
Read at own risk!!!!!
I don't think frustrated is a strong enough term for me to explain how I feel about this episode, but of this entire season as a whole.
Dick mf Grayson, what has happened to you?!?!?!
First off, why go back to the hospital to look at the eye test board? Are you admitting to your hallucinations or just the writers jerking us around? What is the importance of seeing the figure in the eye exam if they are not going to explore it further?!
Glad to see Gotham is back on its usual shit of setting itself on fire and all the residents acting like this is something new. Bruh, I think Gotham was constructed on Hellfire with how often things go sideways; I can't even imagine the taxes to live there.
I'm interested in Gar reading up on the Lazarus Pit. For anybody that knows about Ra's al Ghul, you know that when you get tossed into the pit, you lose your soul. SO are we witnessing the shell of Jason or or the writers forgot the basics of the comics and forgot to put that important piece of the puzzle into play here. Cuz if so, you waited until episode 10 of a probable 13 episode season to explain that Jason lost his soul?????? and still didn't even get to the point because Gar was interrupted by Gotham bullshit.
Why did they make the people of Gotham seem rabid and not, idk, sick? They drank Crane's Toxin and they're acting like dogs with rabies that can pull their joints back into place? like what?
The inconsistency in this episode killed me. Dick and Babs went to a bar causally in the middle of this hell hole of an episode for drinks. And Babs ordered a fucking coffee???? bro, the water is contaminated and you're ordering coffee?!
I'm not even going to touch Donna with a 10ft pole right now because I just don't understand why they had to show her trials with Lydia. It look away from the main plot that was disrupted last episode since we were in the Shadowland getting Tim and Donna back, but still didn't continue that plot into today. What happened to Tim, where is Bruce, how did Donna get to Gotham from wherever the Hell Bruce's other Manor was? Just why?!
I'm glad season 2 Dick showed up for .5 seconds to turn himself in. That was refreshing to see some normalcy from him. This whole scene had me annoyed because Dick talks about them being "family" and what not, but where have you been all season? You have no idea what is going on with any of these people. Does he know Kom and Connor are a thing? Does he know Kori is still hallucinating just like him? Does he realize Gar is the only one who genuinely cares about Jason? Dick has som twisted view on what family is.
The scene when they are all driving to turn themselves in. We are given a scene where Kom is vulnerable and showing her fears of being taken in by the police. But when they pull up to the precinct, we see Dick and Kori exit their own vehicle. So you are telling me that wE COULD OF HAD A SCENE OF DICK AND KORI TALKING ABOUT WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN? AND THEY DIDN'T SHOW IT?! WHERE IS MY SOFT DICK THAT WOULD SHARE HIS INSECURITIES WITH KORI ABOUT THE DECISIONS HE'S MAKING. (I will obviously be writing a fic about this later).
Jason and Crane are really annoying me now. Crane is a "good bad" but I don't get anything from him. He seems lazy and unconcerned and it bothers me. He's not actively trying to take out the Titans, but instead uses a video to do it form him? I don't know if that is because I'm so used to performative villains in these kinds of shows, but even the past two season the villains were always ready for more. Crane makes me bored. I kinda liked it better when Jason was unhinged.
Big surprise, Gotham cops are dirty.
Okay, we need to break down what happened with Kom and Kori. I'm really torn about whether or not Kom took Kori's power's on purpose. Kori is a very passionate person, whereas Kom is collected and preserved. Their personalities clash all the time, and it makes it hard for me to believe whether Kom is good or not. Kori talks about needing to save others and do what is the best for Gotham, where as Kom is always concerned with their status as Queens and thinking of themselves first. This is what makes me believe Kom did it on purpose when the opportunity presented itself. If not, I do believe she would have found another way. As for Kori, I think she has a right to be unsure of Kom's motives, she knows her sister better than all of us (which is fucked cuz, how are we to know them without knowing their past). In the end I think Kom needs Kori's full trust to break her.
As of right now, Crane has only managed to knock one person down, which was Barbara. But he still has an entire team of people to pull apart and it's taken too long. Slade managed this in 5 seconds last season.
In this entire episode, only one thing rang true, and Dick put it perfectly: "Gotham is on it's own." Which is sad considering Bruce wouldn't have let it go this far. Gotham needs Batman, not the Titans.
After thoughts:
Where is Tim? is he okay? Does Dick care this kid basically died and never mentioned anything about it again?
Bruce, where did Donna leave him? Is he in a safe place where he can't try to blow himself up again?
[Edit cuz people are jerks, It was great to see Rachel again]
Guys, we really need some good shit next week cuz I'm tired.

You wrote about Joey( different anon here) and I'm gonna take up this opportunity and say I'm rewatching friends after a very long time. In season 6 right now. Man I feel like punching the wall whenever they overdid Joey's inability to understand normal things. And not just Joey, they did Monica and Ross dirty as well. I feel Ross's character went downhill after season 5 and never recovered. He made bad decisions one after the other. What happened to Monica? All I can hear is noise when she talks now. Ross's character is still entertaining though (credit goes to Schwimmer) Can't believe Ross and Monica were my favorite characters besides Chandler when I started out. Personally, I think Chandler was the one with the most character development. ( I know most people say Rachel but for me it's not). What are your thoughts?
My poor Monica! Not only was she cooking and looking after everyone without thanks or acknowledgement, she was flanderized into a screeching harpy. Her relationship with Chandler was her saving grace.
Tumblr media
Monica and Ross were originally supposed to be the focus of the show as all characters are there because of them.  Monica and Ross knew Rachel in high school,  Ross and Chandler were college roommates.  Monica and Phoebe were former roommates.  Chandler and Joey are current roommates.  It was supposed to center around the siblings, it’s was called Friends after all, not Fucking.
I agree that David Schwimmer saved Ross from becoming a caricature. Only he can make Ross's "we were on a break! and "pivot!" into something that is relateable and making it iconic instead of annoying. Plus Ross was probably the most caring and generous out of the group, like when he walked his ex-wife down the isle at her wedding. David is not only one of the best actor in the cast, he's also the smartest. He knew producers and public are fickle and he’s not guaranteed to remain on a popular TV ensemble show.  The showrunner and writers can handle the loss of one actor among the ensemble, but David knew they can’t handle loss of six actors at once so he created an union with his castmates
Chandler was probably the only character that might not have gotten badly flandarized. His trademark sarcasm went from being used to deflect and avoid confrontation and tough situations, to using it as just a witty way to tease other people and to keep the environment as light-hearted as possible.
Nonetheless Friends is probably still among my top 10 fave sitcoms, While the characters were overexaggerated in the latter seasons, they were still likeable and the chemistry between the 6 actors were great.

Can you rank these characters?:
Santana, Rachel, Kurt, Quinn, Brittany, Blaine, Tina and Mercedes
I’m going to preface this by saying that every single Glee character is at least 90% problematic due to a problematic writing team and being over ten years old now (cultural context matters, y’all), so don’t @ me about my faves (and therefore me) being racist or whatever. I get it. Everyone on Glee kinda sucks. That’s why we all hate Glee and hate ourselves for loving it, okay? It was pretty progressive at the time, and without characters like Santana and Kurt paving the way, we’d probably never have got some of the slightly better LGBT rep we have now, so shhh. Leave them alone. They’re trying their best.
Now that we’ve got that out the way, rankings are under the cut yo...
1. Santana
Problematic queen. As above, I recognise that she has many, many faults. In fact, I appreciate them. I might even love her more for them, actually. It humanises her in a way that I, also a bitch, am able to really resonate with. Santana is tough, quick to anger and she speaks her mind a little too often without regard for consequences. But she is often held to account for doing so. Y’all just choose to forget that because it’s a lot easier to tear her down if you ignore the fact that she’s canonically pretty much always punished by the other characters for lashing out. All that aside, she’s strong, loves fiercely, and she’s loyal as hell to those she cares about. Give me more flawed lesbian characters like her please. Seriously, I want more of them. Where are they?
Also this scene changed my life, so Santana (and Naya) are always, always going to have a special place in my heart:
Tumblr media
2. Quinn
Repressed-lesbian queen. The show did her so dirty, but holy hell Dianna made it work. I love Quinn with every part of my heart not already dedicated to loving Santana. She’s sassy, she’s smart, and she’s got so much trauma that she probably has to pay excess baggage fees every time she flies back to Lima. I hate how the other characters (except for her wife, Rachel Berry) got mad at her in s3 for having an identity crisis and acting out, because like... her mental health was clearly in decline, yet they still had the gall to call her a spoilt rich kid after everything she’d been through?? Teen pregnancy, homelessness, giving up her baby??? Finn kicked chairs whenever someone hid his drumsticks and NO ONE gave him a hard time over that. I wish we’d seen more of Quinn post-graduation, but I don’t blame her for not wanting to visit people who treated her like that, especially given that regular trips to LA, to see her only real friend, Mercedes Jones, probably took up most of her free-time during college.
Anyway, I’m grateful for what we did get, and that Quinn learnt she didn’t need a man to validate her worth because she was freakin’ amazing all on her own. Quick who? I also love, love, LOVE that despite initially dismissing her raging homosexuality after her ‘two-time thing’ with Santana, Quinn eventually came to terms with the fact that she was a lesbian, and found the courage to confess her feelings for Rachel after the Tony Awards during the Glee series finale. It was truly the Faberry endgame we deserved after what initially seemed like years of relentless queer-baiting, so I was pleasantly surprised the writers didn’t go down that route. Poetic cinema. 10/10
Lesbian icon. Look at her GO!
Tumblr media
3. Rachel
Ambitious Queen. I used to hate her, but then while re-watching realised my pure hatred for Lea Michele was significantly clouding my judgement. Rachel Berry is hilarious guys. I wish she was held more to account for her actions sometimes, which I’ve ranted about on here before so I won’t go into it, and I also wish every character didn’t bow to her every whim like she was this huge talent and the rest of them weren’t (because they ALL WERE). Nonetheless, I love her, and I love Lea’s facial expressions/comedic timing even more. Girl gets me cackling at least twice an episode.
Rachel Berry knows who she is, and she’s not afraid to fight for what she deserves, even when everyone else is laughing at her for it. We could all learn something from her, to be honest.
Tumblr media
Now that we’re out of the top 3, the rest are all really close and I’ve changed the order like twenty-seven times already, so these numbers are kinda meaningless. Agh. I love them all, okay?
4. Mercedes
Talented Queen. She should be higher on this list. Aside from being epically talented, it is also an undisputed fact that Mercedes Jones is the world’s best friend. I can and will fight anyone who disagrees with me on that.
Allllso, I’m not religious by any means, but Mercedes choosing not to compromise her faith by sleeping with Sam before she was ready? Queen shit. I wish we saw more of that on TV, because all too often high school characters hook up really early in these kinds of shows, and it sets a false expectation that... isn’t true for a lot of people. The truth is sometimes people do wait, or just don’t feel ready for a number of other reasons. I love that Mercedes didn’t back down on that, because she didn’t want to yet, which is more than enough of a reason to say no.
5. Kurt & Brittany
I simply could not choose between them. Sorry, not sorry.
Brittany
Genius queen. Brittany is hilarious, and Heather’s comedic timing is so, so good. She’s one half of Brittana, so I feel bad for ranking Santana so much higher than her on this list because I absolutely love everything Brittany did for Santana, and the entire Brittana dynamic. I feel like they understood each other so well, and were really good for each other. They’re a two-shot.
I dunno. I just don’t feel like the writers put much thought into Brittany as a character, and sometimes I hate that she got away with a lot of stuff that characters like Santana, Quinn or Rachel would’ve been raked over the coals for, just because people saw her as stupid. Like... she was just as racist as Santana/Sue were at times, and definitely just as much of a bitch, but in both the show, and in fandom, we tend to ignore that because she was more softly spoken/innocent, and ‘stupid,’ despite being a literal MIT genius. It bothers me.
Anyway, I like how open Brittany always was with her sexuality, and how she helped Santana come to terms with that side of herself too, without letting herself be walked all over in the process. I feel like her characterisation was probably one of the most inconsistent out of all of the New Directions throughout the series so I struggle to always enjoy her when she’s on screen. For example, season 3/4 Britt kind of annoys me, because she didn’t really exist outside of her relationships and, beyond a few baseline character traits, was often moulded each episode to fit the storyline, which made her feel like some sort of empty, dancing plot-vessel. Season 2, 5 and 6 Brittany, on the other hand, is one of my favourites because I feel like the writers put a bit more thought into it when they gave her something to do and, even when she was in a relationship, she had a little bit more autonomy. So I’m conflicted, which is why she lands in the middle of this list.
Kurt
Iconic Queen. I love how unapologetically himself Kurt was, even in the face of homophobic losers and literal violence. If I could have half of Kurt’s courage in life, I’d be a happy gal. Also he’s so TALENTED guys. And a GOOD FRIEND. And FUNNY. Gyah. Love him. Love that he got a happy ending. Love that he was successful. Love that he found eventual happiness and safety in Blaine. Love his fashion sense. HATE that he didn’t get into NYADA after his first audition but LOVE that he bounced back and got in later. Love his entire New York character arc, actually. Love that he held his ground against the other characters when it came to stuff he cared about. The list goes on. Love Chris Colfer. Love, love, love.
“She’s dead, this is her son.” KURT, PLEASE
6. Tina
All I will say, is that she deserved better. And I don’t blame her for turning into a bitter, angry person in the later seasons, because the other characters repeatedly mistreated and undervalued her, and the writers did too. That’s the only reason why she’s so low on this list, because SHE DESERVED BETTER.
7. Blaine
No opinion. He’s fine, I guess. I love how dramatic he can be. Makes me lol sometimes. Wouldn’t have minded if he had a few less solos.

SUMMERTIME
Tyson was, without any competition, the most attractive man you had ever laid eyes on. The summer was treating him well, he was all tanned skin and muscle and you were very much enjoying the view as you sat in the backyard of your aunt’s house, watching him and Michael play a two-person game of spikeball. You were sitting in a lounge chair, Rachel on your left and Kacey on your right, your eight year old cousin sitting on the grass across from you.
You were trying to focus on what Kacey was telling you, you really did, but it was hard to pay attention when Tyson was running around the yard with his shirt off, laughing loudly and getting extra competitive.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” Rachel commented, and apparently it was loud enough for the boys to hear because Tyson tipped his head back and let out a laugh. You flushed, and it didn’t help that Tyson decided to embarass you further by winking at you and flexing his muscles like the dork he was. Kacey made a gagging sound, and your little cousin, bless her, giggled like she actually knew what was going on.
They continued their game, and Michael swatted the ball at an awkward angle, sending it flying across the yard. As he chased after it, Tyson rushed over to where you were sitting and gave you a quick kiss before heading back to his game. Kacey rolled her eyes, but you couldn’t care less in that moment as you smiled widely. It was always like that with him, smiles and laughs and feeling like you were on top of the world. Your younger cousin gasped as she remembered something, shouting a quick ‘I’ll be back’ before dashing into the house.
“This one’s for you, Rach!” Michael called dramatically, and Tyson was giggling at his goofiness too hard to return the serve, allowing him to score a point. Rachel grinned at her boyfriend, shaking her head in mirth and you simply leaned back and smiled, basking in the feeling of total contentment as you sat with your friends.
“Come on, Tyson, you’re supposed to be a professional athlete!” Kacey chirped her brother and you giggled at the mock-annoyed look he gave her. It didn’t last long, because the game started back up and his competitive nature returned. You were pretty sure he was up a few points, but he acted as if it was the game winning point they were playing for. It was then that your little cousin reappeared, holding a box of colored string.
“We can make friendship bracelets!” She cheered, and you couldn’t exactly say no to her, so you sat up, along with Kacey and Rachel, to sift through the box and find the colors you wanted. You had already made an anklet for yourself the week prior, and a bracelet for both your little cousin and Rachel. You bit your bottom lip, unsure of what to make, until a cheer from the spikeball game in front of you gave you just the inspiration you needed.
“Hey, Tys?” You called, still searching through the box of string. Rachel and Kacey had already picked out theirs, and your little cousin was helping them cut the lengths they needed. You glanced up, seeing that Tyson was waiting for you to continue with that same grin on his face that he always wore, that same one that never failed to put a smile on your own face. “What are your favorite colors?”
“Babe, I’m colorblind.” He chuckled, and you rolled your eyes. This got a laugh out of everyone around you, your little cousin giggling enough to put a smile on your face.
“Just shut and tell me, you dork.” You couldn’t help the way your response was delivered with a chuckle, but he was grinning at you like the doofus he was that you had come to admire.
“What are your favorite colors?” He asked, moving closer to you as Michael declared a break. You took a second to admire Tyson, the tanned skin that was on display, the slight sheen of sweat across his torso that shouldn’t have been as attractive as it was. He had been letting his hair get a bit longer, and you made a mental note to tell him later that he should let the curls grow out more.
“Tyson, just tell me.” You pouted, though it didn’t last long as he pressed a kiss to your lips that had you grinning like usual. You sighed, and he chuckled knowing he had won without even having to put up much of a fight. “Fine, I like yellow, orange, and pink.”
“Then I like those colors.” He told you, the cute moment lost as Kacey made a gagging noise, again, at the cheesiness of her brother. You chuckled, giving Tyson the extra kiss he ducked down in search of once again before searching through the box of string to find the right colors. “Are you making me a bracelet?”
“Yeah, and I wanted it to be your favorite colors…” You trailed off, grinning as Tyson playfully rolled his eyes. You vaguely heard Rachel mutter a ‘cute’ to Michael, and him question why she didn’t make him a bracelet. His comment earned a slap to the shoulder, and you grinned at how happy your cousin was with her boyfriend, how happy you were with Tyson.
“Well, I want a bracelet that’s your favorite colors.” Tysons shot back. “That way, I can always have a piece of you with me.”
You flushed at his comment, heart soaring. Kacey teasingly gagged.
Again.
PRESENT
If you thought that getting sent a picture of Tyson threw you for a loop, you were completely knocked off your feet by seeing him in person. Immediately following your run-in with him at the grocery store, you had texted Rachel and told her to call you ASAP, and then spent another half hour freaking out to her on the phone about how good he looked and how you missed him.
For the most part, she listened quietly, only interjecting at points to ask questions about how he looked and what he said. You had repeated the entire conversation verbatim—well, the parts you could remember through your panic—and she was set on analyzing his every word.
“Well, are you going to text him?” She asked the question you had been avoiding the whole conversation. The one you had contemplated on the entire drive back to your apartment.
“I don’t think so? I mean, it was really weird seeing him.” You confessed. You weren’t sure that you could handle getting left on read by him again, even if he did make it seem like he wanted to talk to you too. “Whatever you do, don’t tell your mother about this.”
“Are you kidding me? She wouldn’t leave me alone until I told her every last dirty detail.” She chuckled, and you rolled your eyes at her word choice. There weren’t any dirty details, he had barely gotten within five feet of you the whole time. “Just keep me updated if he texts you.”
He did text you, three days later at the very end of your lunch break. You saw his name pop up on your screen just as you were shoving your phone in your bag and your class was filing back into your room after recess. You didn’t dare read it, not that you had the time since students were already calling your name, so you tucked the device away and pushed any and all thoughts about the hockey player to the back of your mind.
By the time the last bus left and you were finally in your classroom alone, you took a breath and unlocked your phone. Your eyes scanned over the message, once, twice, three times before you actually came to the realization that you would have to come up with a response. You had, after all, basically invited him to text you by telling him your number had stayed the same.
Can we talk?
The simple message was how you found yourself sitting anxiously in a nearby coffee shop the following Sunday, having agreed to meet him there. It was a neutral location, one that if need be, you could slip out the door and leave him behind.
Your leg had been bouncing restlessly since the moment you sat down, but your eyes were glued to the door and you froze when a familiar set of curls and brown eyes entered. Instead of ordering, he spotted you in a booth and headed straight to you. He wore an apprehensive smile, and you offered him one weakly in return.
“Uh, hi.” He mumbled, and you repeated the stitled greeting, taking a sip of your coffee to avoid having to come up with the first thing to say. He had invited you, you weren’t going to be the one to make awkward small talk. “I’m sorry, so fucking sorry.”
It was like a switch had been flipped in him. One moment he was cautious, obviously and understandably nervous, but now he was clearly upset. You could still read him, like summer was just last week and you had spent the past few months practically glued to his side, so you could see how much whatever he wanted to say was eating him up inside.
And something changed inside you, too. You had been so torn up about losing touch with Tyson for so long, but the blame wasn’t just on him. Conversations go both ways, and you honestly couldn’t remember who had sent the last text.
“It’s not just your fault, I stopped texting too.” You shook your head, voice quiet and gaze trained on your cup. You could practically feel the distress radiating from him, and you wanted to reach across the table and comfort him. But you didn’t, you stayed rooted to your spot and let him say what he needed to.
“No, I promised that I wouldn’t let you go and I—I did, and I should have tried harder.” His words were rushed, so far from the Tyson you were used to that you were unsettled. Though, you figured he was thrown by your silence, too. “It’s just, when the season started I got so busy, and that’s not an excuse, I know, but it just got harder and harder to send a text with every day that passed since the last one you sent, and eventually I just… stopped. And I blame myself, even if you don’t.”
“Tyson…” You sighed, finally forcing yourself to look up and meet his gaze. He looked as disheveled as he sounded, and though he had grown with the years that had passed since you had last seen him, his eyes stayed the same from the last time you had seen them this close in person—red-rimmed and bloodshot. “Don’t carry this on your shoulders, if you need me to forgive you, then I do. I don’t want you to blame yourself.”
He smiled then, small, and it wasn’t nearly as wide as the ones you were used to receiving from him but it was something, and you were already back to wanting as much as you could get from him. You mirrored his expression, leaning back in your seat. It felt as if a weight had been lifted from your chest, just getting to sit down and talk with Tyson again.
And you did talk. You talked about how his hockey career was going, that he was improving with every game and that his teammates were his best friends. You told him about how Rachel and Michael were doing—they had just gotten their first apartment together, you tried to brush away the thought that if things had been different, that could be you and Tyson. You told him about your job, and he nearly jumped out of his seat in excitement that you got your dream position, the one he had heard you talk about excitedly all summer. He listened to you complain about your roommate that you didn’t get along great with, and he told you a few funny stories about when he lived with JT.
You also talked about Jon.
You had been dating Jon for three months, and it was nice. He was a nice guy, had nice friends, and had a nice, steady, job. But it was just nice. You’d never admit it to anyone—save for the one time you got wine-drunk with Rachel when she came to visit— but you felt like you were comparing your relationship with Jon to your time with Tyson. And Jon really wasn’t winning that battle.
Tyson tried to act like he wasn’t bothered by the fact that you were dating someone else, but you could see through him easily. And you understood, there had been a time when you thought that Tyson was it for you, and the image of him being with someone else made your stomach churn.
But you ignored that, because for the first time since you had met Tyson, you were just friends.
“Are you, uh, seeing anybody?” You hated the stutter in your question, you tried to tell yourself that it didn’t matter if he was. Hell, you were in another relationship. But he was Tyson, your Tyson, and you don’t think you’d ever be able to get over that. He drew his brows together, pulling a face like he couldn’t believe you’d even consider that he was seeing someone else and you tried not to read too much into it. As quick as it happened, he schooled his features, gaze dropping to the tabletop as he shook his head.
He reached a hand up to run through his curls, something he had done a dozen times since sitting down, but this time a flash of something yellow and orange and pink on his wrist caught your gaze. He rested his hands on the table, and yours shot forward to grab his wrist and push the sleeve of his sweatshirt up before you could even tell yourself not to.
“You still wear it?” You questioned, looking between him and the bracelet you had made him two years back. You ignored the rush that went through you at the feeling of him under your touch, but were hesitant to pull your hands back nonetheless. The tips of his ears turned crimson, and suddenly he was sheepishly looking anywhere but you. But he spoke his next words with so much confidence, like it was the most obvious thing in the world and it contrasted his demeanor so much you wondered if it truly was that simple.
“Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”

The Missing Women of Far Cry-PART TWO
Previously, I wrote a post that was intended to talk a bit about Selena and Lana, and the  history of the Faith position as a whole. Because the notes that discuss these women (“Grieving Note,” “Dirty Crumpled Letter,” A Confession”) tend to be overlooked, the purpose of this new post is to analyze the content of the notes and develop a greater understanding of the experiences and perspectives of the Faiths, as well as how they are viewed and treated. This is just my personal analysis, and of course you are more than welcome to disagree with any ideas expressed here. Unlike my previous post, this one will not bring in real-world connections, but will instead stick firmly within the context of what is presented in FC5. That being said, I’m going to keep the same TW’s as last time in the tags, because I realize that this topic overall can be really uncomfortable to think about. If anyone is particularly sensitive to discussing the Seeds brothers’ involvement in the disappearances (particularly Joseph, since he’s the one mentioned in all the notes), I recommend skipping this post.
So with that out of the way, let’s look at what these notes reveal to us...
First, the notes show us how these different women were hooked into becoming Faith and giving up their identities in the first place: by being convinced by Joseph that each one of them is special, despite him actually viewing them as interchangeable. This is told to us by Faith in-game during her first cutscene when she talks about how special the Father made her feel, but we also see the same story play out in the previous Faiths. The writer of the “Grieving Note” says Joseph told Lana she was special, and the author of “A Confession” expresses that all she wanted was to be special, and she finally got a chance to feel that way with Joseph. The writer of the “Dirty Crumpled Letter” brings attention to how despite what Joseph says, he *doesn’t* actually view Selena (or any of these women) as special, saying that there is a pattern of him “using up and throwing away” women.
Although they are told that they are unique, their individuality is significantly downplayed, which no doubt psychologically plays a role in the ease in which these women are disposed of  and replaced. We see this in the callous way Joseph treats Lana’s body after her death, tossing it in to “disintegrate into the boiling muck” with the corpses of the mindless angels, despite her literally giving up her identity in order to become a part of the “family.” Also, the simple fact that he can “swap them out like they don’t have a brain of their own” (according to the writer of the “Dirty Crumpled Letter”) is quite telling of how he views them. He’s interested in how they fit this need for what a “Faith” should be, but not necessarily who they are as actual human beings. This focus on the idealized image of “Faith” is also something that’s corroborated in-game where his whole eulogy for Faith focuses on how devoted she was to him and how he changed her from being “lost and broken” to being ”angelic” and “perfect”--two words that suggest inhumanity and an unattainable ideal. This acts as a stark contrast to the more personal, humanized stories of John and Jacob.  To bridge off that idea, the level of disinterest in the actual person behind the name shows that the Seeds do not view or treat the Faiths like sisters or daughters or any kind of actual family member, despite the title. John disappoints Joseph in-game, but John does not have to worry about mysteriously vanishing and having a random guy show up the next day who Joseph calls “Brother John.” Faith does not have the same luxury.
These notes also give us more insight into how Eden’s Gate operated before the arrest. The fact that there was a specific spot set aside to “disintegrate” bodies--plus the fate of the Faiths as a whole--shows us that violence was most definitely happening before the reaping began, even if it was something that was happening behind the scenes. This should be apparent based on other things we see within the game (the cause of the arrest warrant, the video of Joseph removing the man’s eyes, the fact that the Cook was allowed to be a cult member in the first place, existence of angels and judges, etc.), but I know there are a couple NPCs that make it seem like Eden’s Gate were just kooky, peaceful neighbors before the arrest. While that might have been the image they presented to the public, it’s clear that the reality is that there was a dark undercurrent even before the reaping--Eden’s Gate was just able to hide it well.
These notes also bring up some interesting questions regarding the attitudes of the Faiths. Finding the identity of the author of “A Confession” was something I was really curious about, since that could either provide us with a new dimension for Rachel, or give us valuable insight into the characterization of one of the previous Faiths, allowing one to have her own words and story expressed instead of just being relegated to the role of a “victim.” Based on the limited information presented in-game, I believe that the most likely writer of “A Confession” is Selena. The “Dirty Crumpled Letter,” where the writer tells Selena  about the history of the Faith position, could easily have been what triggers her doubts, especially since that letter indicates that Selena is very new to the role and hasn’t fully “lost herself” to the Faith position yet. The fact that the letter is “crumpled” implies that Selena was either upset or angry when reading it, which further connects to the idea that she’s experiencing emotional strife which may trigger her doubts. In the “Dirty Crumpled Letter,” the writer says, “God knows who you are, and so do you,” suggesting that Selena is religious. In “A Confession,” the writer is clearly religious as well, as the note is written out to God.
The author of “A Confession” expresses genuine fear of Joseph due to having personal doubts about the project when she says, “What do I do? I know you will forgive me, dear Lord. I don’t know if Joseph will.” This is also supported by Faith’s eulogy, in which he mentions the previous Faiths weren’t as devoted as she was. This implies to me that the reason at least some of the Faiths may have been killed was because they weren’t faithful enough to him and/or the Project. The fear expressed by the writer of “A Confession,” as well as how the individual women acting in the Faith role are viewed as disposable and replaceable in general, personally makes me fully believe Faith in-game when she expresses fear of Joseph and says she was threatened in the past.  Given how her predecessors were treated, why wouldn’t she have some level of fear?
Still, the role itself is obviously very important to Joseph, hence why he keeps filling the slot with different women. So, why is that? What’s he hoping to achieve? Why is it so important that there’s a Faith? This paragraph is going to veer a bit into speculative territory (and like I mentioned earlier, this is all just my opinion), but I think the answer for that ties into the previous few points: he’s looking for someone who embodies the concept of faith. And as for why that's so important to him, all we need to do is think about his conversation with us in Jacob’s region. Joseph had a really shitty and painful life, but there was one bright spot after he and his brothers were split up: his wife and daughter. As far as we’re aware, the mysterious Mrs. Seed was the first female presence in his life to genuinely love and care for him. What personal characteristic does he keep emphasizing about his wife? Her faith. When he experienced personal doubts, her faith was there to ground him. She provided him with a feminine, stable, unconditional devotion that he never experienced before, one I feel he tries to replicate in creating these Faiths, and this becomes their main source of value to him. She provides that accepting essence to both him and the Project as a whole. This is why he constantly emphasizes the importance of Faith, both the concept and the person. And yes, this is an incredibly unhealthy viewpoint to have.
I spent a lot of time talking about Joseph because he’s the one mentioned in these notes, but there are some implications here for John and Jacob as well.Given their personal connection to Joseph and high rank in the group, they are most certainly aware of what’s going on, which makes them complicit to some degree  in what is happening to the Faiths. If they have any personal qualms, we don’t know about it. While there is NPC dialogue that indicates Jacob is upset when John dies, and that Faith is upset when John dies, we have no indication that either of the brothers is personally upset about Faith. One of the NPCs says, “Jacob would happily sacrifice everyone and everything in Hope County to feed Joseph's Collapse. He doesn't care about Faith.” The only time John mentions her is when he says he treats his followers better than she treats her angels. While I wish there was someone that Faith could genuinely have a close, honest friendship with, that unfortunately does not seem to be the case here.
And...I think that’s it! Wow, that was a lot longer than I thought it would be. Faith’s perspective is so interesting and unique, and really fascinating to analyze. I realize this post doesn’t exactly paint the Seeds or Eden’s Gate in the most flattering light, but it’s fully possible to love all these characters while acknowledging the bad things they did. Believe it or not, Joseph’s my second or third favorite character, lol.

Ruinenlust, 1/2 (Max/Violet) - Puppy
A/N: Oh, wow it’s been a while since I posted. It’s good to be back. First of all, I’d like to thank @artificialpuddle for beta'ing; your comments are much appreciated. Second of all, I hope you enjoy this.

Summary:
Ruinenlust - German. To take pleasure in ruin.
A few weeks after the events of “Peripeteia”, Violet and Max try again at another escapade with a little more preparation this time.
“If only you knew what you looked like right now…” The mistress smirked, putting one of her vinyl-booted feet on her kneeling, blindfolded submissive’s shoulder. The other was placed between her submissive’s feet, the top of the boot growing slick with arousal. The room was nearly quiet, only the sounds of heavy breathing filled the silence.
Laura kept as still as possible; her mind focused on keeping still, not letting any more of her neediness show. The ambiance alone could push her past her limits; the combination of the slow, sensual music and the nearly degrading naughts being directed towards her nearly made her burst. If only she could get some more friction against her goddess’s boot. She only stopped as she felt her love’s breath go hot against her.
Her Goddess, her Mistress, her Everything leaned towards her, bit a hickey into her neck and then whispered into her ear,
“Max, did you get in my smut stash?”
The grey haired girl, startled by the shift in volume, quickly clapped the paperback shut as she nearly fell out of the loveseat. A copy of  Tainted by the Chains of Love ended up at the shorter girl’s feet. It was originally found in a thrift store as something to fill the bottom shelf of Violet’s pin-up magazines and other pulp novels.
She could have lightened the conversation, but they both knew she was never one to sugar coat things. There was no use lying to her either, especially over something so trivial as a book. “Do forgive me. I was under the impression the bookshelves were communal?”
“You’re good. Just tell me before you’re gonna borrow anything from that shelf, kay? I was worried I lost it.” Violet bent over and picked up the novel, recognizing the bookmarked page. “Oh, you’re at a  spicy part too.”
Max’s lips pursed into an awkward smile as her girlfriend further through the pages. She half expected her to read an excerpt aloud. “That is… definitely a word I would use to describe it.”
“Didn’t realize you were into this dime store stuff. I figured this was too  raunchy and  dirty for your tastes.” She scrunched her nose in fake disgust.
Max didn’t respond as she slumped back onto the loveseat. “I… I figured I’d try something different?”
“And that’s completely valid. I guess I should ask what you think of it so far.” Violet stared into her girlfriend’s eyes that waited for a response. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to, baby.”
“Well… um…” Max flexed her finger repeatedly, as if she was reaching for the right thing to say. This type of literature wasn’t in her radar; hence it was harder for her to review. Most of the time she veered away from  those types of books, but there was something about this one that made her want to keep reading. Was it the fact that the woman she loved so dearly had read it?
Nevertheless, she decided to humor her and still give her opinions. “I think it’s good so far…”
“Maxie, you’re a good chunk into it. Surely you have more to say… About the plot, how much of that there is.” She slightly raised the pitch of her voice, clearly getting some satisfaction from the secondhand embarrassment.
Max nodded her head, swimming through her thoughts to find coherent sentences, as she straightened her posture. “The writer seems to definitely know what they are talking about. The dynamic between Laura and Rachel isn’t just a thinly-veiled excuse for abuse, unlike some novels I can name. There is open communication and safe words and Rachel listens when her sub says no or when she wants to stop and… Yes, I know it’s basic human decency, but it’s just so…” She squealed with excitement. “And the dynamic… it’s just perfect and-”
“By god, you’re a nerd.” Violet couldn’t help but let out a laugh. There wasn’t a response this time. “Is something the matter, booboo? I’d normally get, like, a slap on the wrist for that.” There was still no answer. “Come on, I don’t hate it as much as I used to. I’m a masochist now, remember?” She shimmied closer towards Max, the pink silk from her robe brushing against her love’s skin and her breasts nearly at eye level.
She sighed, holding her head in her hands. The embarrassment crept from her face into every fiber of her being. The reminder of the last time they did something of this sort, plus Violet’s remark about her infodumping, rubbed her slightly the wrong way. “Yes. About that. I’ve still been thinking about the other week, and-”
“While we’re on the subject of that, I’m still surprised at how well you did for your first time domming. I’ve been thinking, and-”
“Do you want me to do it again?”
“No.”
“If I was that bad, you can just tell me. Honesty and all…”
“Far from it. You were great!” Violet complimented earnestly, or as earnestly as she would allow herself to get. Apologizing, nor vulnerability for that manner, was never really her strongest suit; it was still too early in the relationship for that sort of thing. “I want to thank you for that… I’m sorry if that whole experience made you uncomfy and… I want to make it up to you.”
“Really?” The silver-haired girl blinked at her girlfriend, staring as if she had grown an extra head. Was she being serious? After all of the things she had said and done, Violet was still proud of her. “But… I hurt you!”
“But you didn’t harm me, and that’s what mattered. Also wasn’t topping that one time your idea? All because of those goddamn cat ears.” She chuckled, thinking about the situation in hindsight.
“And I kept spritzing you with that bottle,” She ignored the compliment and got slightly more defensive.“that must’ve been annoying.”
“Isn’t that the point? What matters is I liked it, you hear me? You’re smarter than you give yourself credit for. Now shut up and let me return the favor, okay?”
Max nodded her head, suddenly growing timid at her girlfriend’s demeanor. “What is it you want to do?”
Violet’s face grew a mischievous smirk; she’d been planning her strategy the moment she saw Max reading on the loveseat. She leaned into her girlfriend’s ear and whispered, “How about we recreate one of those scenes from this book? Would you like me to ruin you, Miss Maxine.  I bet you’ve wanted to be in Laura’s position from the moment you picked up that.”
“Yes…” Max blushed even more scarlet. She stopped herself as the logical and modest parts of her brain took over. “No, wait… shouldn’t we go over safe words and limits first?”
“We’ll get to that! I just wanna confirm if that sounds like a good idea. Granted it’s one of mine, so it’s good by default.”
“Violet!” Her lover chastised.
“Okay, I deserved that. Do you want me to do those things to you? We don’t have to do it exactly by the book.” Max nodded her head. “Perfect, let’s get playing! But first, have you eaten anything today?”
There was silence.
Violet sighed as she cupped her girlfriend’s face. “Max. My darling. Love of my life and-”
“I’ll be fine…” Max interrupted, slightly whining as she slowly got out of the loveseat. “Please don’t worry about me. Besides, I’m not hungry.” She lied through her teeth.
It was still quite early in the afternoon and she had been too engrossed in the literature to think about bare necessities. At least she remembered to shower; that’s always a good start.
“For all the times you fuss at me about not eating, you should take better care of yourself. I don’t want you passing out.” Violet pulled Max close, then sat her down at the kitchen table. “I’ll fix something real quick and then we’ll get to it. I promise.”
The two further negotiated as they had their meal. They set limits and safe words, and it seemed as if nothing had changed since last time. Max was a little unsure about hickeys since she had a presentation the next day, but Violet calmed her down. When in doubt, there were always clean turtlenecks on standby.
“Now, last thing. Do you want me to be kind or cruel?”
Max took a bite of her salad and contemplated, as if her partner had asked a trick question. One could easily be disguised as the other given certain circumstances. “Kind,” she swallowed, unsure of her answer. “But also cruel. Possibly both? I’m sorry; I still don’t understand.”
“Let me rephrase that. How far do you want me to go? I mean, there’s a big difference between calling you a cumslut and calling you stupid.” The black-haired woman clarified, drumming her fingers on the table as she waited for an answer.
It wasn’t hard to tease Max; there were many things about her that were practically a bullseye for bullying. She was the kind of girl who would take too long to get ready, yet look like she barely had any makeup on. The kind who’d talk during a movie she’d seen ten times before just to spout trivia, quietly going on until shushed. She was practically a grandmother when it came to social media and she was just so… rigid out in public. It was too easy to make fun of the things bullies had told Max for years (her hair, her height, and the way she spoke to name a few), plus it was wrong.
Yes, Violet was a bitch, but she still had standards.
“As far as you want.” Max continued, starting to protest yet not sure of what. “I swear… I can take it.” A hush fell over the kitchen. “I’ll safeword when I feel uncomfortable. I promise.”
Violet swallowed a mouthful of spinach and sighed, “I know you will. I trust you, but will you remember when the time comes?” A hush fell over the kitchen. “It’s just- in the past it was hard for you to come out of your subspace and I don’t wanna make you cry. Well, at least in a bad way. We should have discussed this earlier, but I got distracted by other things and-”
“Now look who’s being fussy.” The grey-haired lady teased as she finished up the rest of her meal. With a small grunt of protest from her partner, she continued. “Well… calling me stupid or worthless is a hard no, and other things in that vein. Nothing negative about my body. And… I think that’s it.”
“Perfect.” Violet shot up and took her and Max’s bowls. “I’ve got to get ready, but remember. As soon as I see you next, your ass is mine. Give me about thirty-ish minutes and I’ll be ready for you. I have some research to do.” She strode towards the door, flipping through the pulp novel’s pages for emphasis.
“Sounds good to me, darling.”
“Then it’s a date!” As she pulled herself into the bedroom, the newly appointed mistress quickly stuck out her head and winked before closing the door.
Max could only imagine the preparations at hand.

Natural Woman.
Filmmaking power-couple Julia Hart and Jordan Horowitz chat to Jack Moulton about exploring untouched female perspectives in genre films, a fateful viewing of Michael Mann’s Thief, the humbling magic of babies on set, and Letterboxd’s small role in their filmmaking process.
I’m Your Woman puts the gangster’s moll, a classically underwritten character, at the heart of the action. We barely meet the gangster himself in this taut, 1970s-set crime thriller from director Julia Hart and her co-writer and producer husband Jordan Horowitz. Rachel Brosnahan occupies a tense and unusual space as Jean, wife of Eddie, a no-good chap who turns up one day with a very young baby then abruptly disappears, leaving her to raise this unnamed child.
In other versions of the story, we’d follow Eddie to a guns-blazing conclusion, but this is a Hart-Horowitz jam, so we’re quickly on the run with Jean and the baby, and we stay with her. I’m Your Woman is a compelling, unsettling twist on the genre. “What impressed me most … was how well it keeps its cards close to the vest,” writes Mikey on Letterboxd. It’s also an empathetic portrayal of new-motherhood in all its exhausting confusion, where getting a baby clean, fed and sleeping is as much a priority as finding the next safe house. “Despite valuing tension quite highly, Julia Hart still has the wherewithal to let it sit in its more tender and thoughtful moments,” writes Paul. “The ending really sneaks up on you in terms of the specific feeling it elicits.”

Hart and Horowitz have children, aged two and six, who have grown up around film sets. Before becoming a filmmaker, Hart spent her days with other people’s kids as a teacher; her 2016 debut, Miss Stevens, stars Lily Rabe as a high-school educator, but her follow-up films have been wider-ranging, from Fast Color to this year’s Stargirl. Hart credits this genre-jumping to her absolute love of movies. “I don’t have a favorite genre. I love musicals, Westerns, crime dramas, coming-of-age movies, superhero movies. It was so fun getting to learn about how to create musical numbers in Stargirl and how to direct a car chase in I’m Your Woman.”
Horowitz, meanwhile, is known for producing The Kids Are All Right and La La Land. Yes, he’s the “Guys, guys, I’m sorry, no, there’s a mistake” guy. Horowitz is also a Letterboxd member, and a hunt back through his diary reveals the date he first watched Moonlight, along with his wholesome reviews of Julia’s films. “I always tried to remember to log my movies in so many different ways,” Horowitz explains, “and then once Letterboxd came out it was a very easy solution.”
Tumblr media
Jordan Horowitz corrects that famous Oscar mix-up.
Horowitz keeps diligent lists of references for his upcoming films, years before they’re even announced. It’s here that the roots of I’m Your Woman are found, if you’re looking closely: a fateful viewing of Michael Mann’s Thief nearly seven years ago was the primary influence on I’m Your Woman, “especially Tuesday Weld’s character, and the moment where she is basically asked to leave the movie before James Caan burns everything to the ground,” he tells me. “Our hope with this movie was to follow some of the women in those movies that don’t necessarily get the spotlight and shift the gaze of the camera to follow this car as it drives away with her in it, instead of staying with the criminal of this movie.”
Hart picks up the thread, naming Diane Keaton in The Godfather, Ali MacGraw in The Getaway, Theresa Russell in Straight Time. “Those were interesting characters played by incredible actresses but they only have a handful of scenes so I loved the idea of exploring a woman in that world and time but telling the story through her perspective.”
Horowitz defines master filmmakers Sidney Lumet, Martin Ritt and Jonathan Demme as Hart’s “spirit animals”, for their humanist takes in multiple genres. A particular recommendation of a Lumet classic from an Amazon executive changed the way they looked at their writing. “Running on Empty has this great scene where they all sing [James Taylor’s] ‘Fire and Rain’ together. Originally in our script, the ‘Natural Woman’ scene was just [Jean] singing. After watching that movie it inspired us to consider what if the Cal character joins in with her? What happens to the moment if it becomes a bit more of a community moment?”

When talking about their writing process, Horowitz admits that he always has his producer hat handy: “I’m never thinking about writing for the sake of writing. I’m always keeping how we make this thing in mind. Do we have too many extras? Is this location gettable? That can help me when we get into production because I’ve already considered some of those things, but I do wish sometimes that I could just sit down as Julia does and just write.” Once the duo makes it into production, Horowitz admits “[I] definitely put writer mode behind me, to the point where we’ll be on set and someone will ask me something about the script and I’ll be like ‘I don’t know, ask Julia’ and they’ll say ‘didn’t you write it too?!’”
However, Horowitz credits Hart as the “idea generator” of the two. The premise to have Jean struggling to connect with her adoptive baby was always part of the conception of the character, largely based on conversations Hart had with mothers, pre-lockdown. “It sometimes feels like Hollywood sees mothers as a monolith where there isn’t much nuance and subtlety, especially when it comes to negative feelings about motherhood, so they’re often shamed into not talking about them,” Julia laments. “It was really important for me to explore a side of motherhood that isn’t talked about as much and make sure that mothers know that they are seen and heard.”
The decision to have a baby (performed by brothers Justin and Jameson Charles) in almost every scene was a big risk, and not one Hart took lightly. “Movie people can think what they’re doing is very important, but there’s nothing more humbling than when you’re on a whole set with hundreds of people [and] you’re waiting for a baby’s dirty diaper to be changed. It made everything feel so real and immediate, so everyone on set really had to live in the moment and adapt. You prepare, and prepare, and prepare, but you have to throw out so much if the baby is sleeping instead of crying, or crying instead of smiling. I think it’s important to portray babies as real people, because as a society we often forget that.”
Lead actress Rachel Brosnahan came on as a producer many years after the script was already in Hart and Horowitz’s heads, but Hart explains that Brosnahan brought a history and interior life, “more in the wordless moments of acting than in dialogue itself.” Along the way, Jean meets Cal and Teri, who guide her to refuge. They’re the heart of the film, and Hart elaborates on their importance to the narrative: “they have been through the hell that Jean is currently going through and her circumstances force them to go through it again, but this time they have honesty, truth and love on their side. In watching Teri and Cal, Jean starts to understand what real love, family and support are.”

Rachel Brosnahan with director and co-writer Julia Hart.
When you examine Hart’s filmography, it’s impressive how productive she’s been in such a short time, releasing four films within five years, with those pre-schoolers under foot. Horowitz makes a comparison to a prolific filmmaker like Steven Soderbergh, who advises to “fail as fast as you can”. Horowitz acknowledges that “I don’t think we set out like, ‘we’re gonna have two children and we’re gonna make four films in five years.’ If we knew that we were gonna do that we would’ve said, ‘wow, that’s a little bit insane, maybe we shouldn’t do that!’” But they did, and the film world is richer for it.
We always like to ask about the film that made filmmakers want to become filmmakers, and Hart lands on All That Jazz. “I’ve always been a fan of Bob Fosse since his [early] work. How he turned moving your body in a way that people haven’t really moved their bodies before into an empire is very inspiring. [Roy Scheider] is also my favorite actor, which doesn’t hurt. He’s so good.” Horowitz, meanwhile, is a huge fan of Back to the Future. “That was the movie when I was a kid that just opened my eyes to the power of movies, to make you obsess and dream about what other movies could be.”
“I remember going with my parents to see Back to the Future Part II on the Friday night it opened and when we got there it was sold out. We saw some other movie, but I was so upset so all I was thinking about was Back to the Future Part II. As we were leaving the movie theater, I saw through the back little window of the screen where Back to the Future Part II was playing and watched the end scene where Marty is standing in the rain and someone comes and gives him a letter. I did not sleep the entire night. That feeling of anticipation and imagination defines the way I like to look at movies and the way they can make me feel.” A subsequent look at Horowitz’s Letterboxd diary reveals that this conversation perhaps inspired him to take a trip back in time the following day.

Writer’s Month 2020 - To Find A Way
Prompt No.2  - Quarantine
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Danny rubs the hand sanitizer between his palms. He pulls the face mask over his mouth and nose the moment he gets out of the car. They're in a Worldwide lockdown. It's unreal and insane what's going on. Two days ago, everything has been fine and now everything has flipped upside down. He can't wrap his mind around the chaos that has taken over. Grace is safe and at home with Rachel. He still breaks out in a sweat knowing there's an invisible threat creeping into his guarded world and he can't do shit about it. He misses his baby girl. No visitations but he calls her daily via face time.
The lockdown with its rules weighs heavy on everyone. Chin, Kono and he are with HPD and allowed to be outside. The workload has reduced drastically and Danny deals with the challenge of having too much spare time at hand. And that's the main reason his thoughts circle around a big handsome guy with strong, large hands who hugs a plant like a scared kitten. This unique and invested care for a flower, a flower, Danny saw a few days ago makes him draw a shaky breath now and then.
Jesus. This guy won't leave his thoughts. The confidence and self-esteem in every move have caught Danny's attention from the first encounter. But he's also sensed the invisible cracks. The flicker of Steve's eyes when Danny wasn't in his field of vision. The slight slip of his features when Steve couldn't find a bag for the plant. And the almost scared look when Danny went out the door with a flower Steve seemed to care so much for.
Danny's legs eat the distance to Kamekona's shrimp truck and seconds later he pounds at the closed door.
"Take out's not before twelve o'clock. Don't queue up! Don't mess with the rules! No food without a face mask." Kamekona's thunder voice hollers through the closed truck.
"It's me, big guy. Open the door. I'll have take out, three times, for Chin and Kono and myself. As I've agreed." Danny waits. "My mask is on, Kame! My hands are sanitized. Don't let me wait in this heat with my face half-covered. It's brutal out here. Come on."
The door opens an inch. "There's a box to your left, put the money in there. I only take cash, no cards."
They exchange food and money and the door closes again. "Wait, Kame, wait. Steve – I,"
The door stops mid-movement and gets pushed open with a jerk.
"Whoa, careful there. I almost dropped the food." Danny grabs the bags with both hands.
"What about Steve." Kamekona looks intimidating with his face half-covered behind a black mask. His big, shovel-like hands stuck in black rubber gloves and he wears a tent-size red apron with the print of his face – covered behind a black mask.
Danny chuckles and waves with the bag in his hand. "Don't you think you overdo it with the brand stuff?"
It's uncharacteristic for Kamekona not to get lost in a speech about business and keeping up with the top seller. He comes straight to the point. "Leave Steve alone. He's not a people's guy. He likes solitude.
Danny licks his lips. "You protect him. Why?"
Kamekona gets this stoic look when Danny touches a sensitive topic. The answer surprises him. "He's Kama'āina."
"And what else?" Danny can't feel the heat, can't feel how his shirt sticks to his damp back. "I'm – look, he has this thing about him –" he hopes Kamekona would chime in but he just stares at him. "He's ex-military, right? There was something odd in his behavior yesterday. He doesn't look like a guy who deals with flowers. It wasn't even a shop. It was more – "
"Yo, brah, Steve's not like all others. You needed a flower, he needed someone to drop by. I wanted to make sure he's okay. I haven't had the time to go check up on him last week."
"You check up on him? Why?" Danny's interest peaks. His heart thumps and his mouth turns dry. "Is he sick?"
"No more information." His friend has made up his mind. Danny recognizes the tone.
"Hand me another lunch bag." Danny digs into his pocket to get more money.
"For Steve?"
"Yep. He had a hard time when I took his plant. I could tell. I go and check up on him."
Kame eyes him gently. "Don't move too fast and don't talk too much.”
Danny's eyebrows climb up his forehead. "Something else, dude? A foot-rub maybe?"
"You don't know, Steve. He's –"
"Dangerous?" Danny teases.
"Just watch out and make sure he sees you all the time. It’s Lockdown, too. He’ll be twitchier than usual." The door to the truck closes with a soft click.
Danny watches the front door of Steve's flower shop that looks more like an abandoned building with dusty windows surrounded by tamed jungle and big bushes. Countless pots with a variety of flowers mark the path that leads to the front door. He hasn't taken the time yesterday to take the scenery in. The wild beauty isn't chaotic at all if anything it's picturesque. Danny pays tribute to the attentiveness that has shaped this place.
Who's this guy? Danny performs the same procedure with hand sanitizer and face mask before he grabs the lunch bags on the passenger seat and gets out of the car. He knows Steve watches him. No one can drop by this place by accident. But so far, Danny hasn't been yelled at and shot at. So far, he counts this as being tolerated on the property.
He lifts his hand to knock on the door when a voice sharp as a blade barks a question behind his back. Shit. Danny hasn't seen or heard anything a second ago.
"What the hell are you doing here? Kamekona didn't call to tell me someone's coming."
"Hey, I brought –" Danny is about to turn around.
"Freeze!"
Like a gun shot the word impacts on Danny's eardrum. He lifts his arms to show he means no harm. He doesn't say a word and stands still. Holy fuck.
"Turn around, slowly and keep your hands up where I can see them."
Danny turns around. He faces a dangerous-looking man with dark hair who wears a white flimsy tank top covered in smudges of dirt. He stares at the gun in Steve's hand. Kamekona hasn't exaggerated. And Steve’s looks changed. Nothing resembles the behavior from yesterday.
"Pull your mask down." Steve moves like a tiger, with grace and power. He approaches slowly.
Danny breathes the earthy air with is eyes fixed on Steve's hard features. His jaw muscles pop prominently. "Hi, Steve. I brought lunch. Kame made your special dish, extra garlic, and lots of vegetables."
Steve's shoulders slump imperceptibly. Danny exhales with care. "Can I take my hands down?"
Steve comes closer. "Why did you come? I don't sell any flowers today, not ever again."
Danny's eyes drop to the broad shoulders and the golden, tanned skin. "Are you hungry?" Danny watches how Steve works his jaw and purses his lips. He lifts the bag with a fluent, slow motion. "Smells delicious and I'm sure you could need a refuel after you crawled through the jungle."
Steve scoffs, " I wasn't crawling through any jungle."
"But you're just as dirty as if – "
Steve walks toward the door without paying attention to Danny. Yeah, that's not true. This guy has eyes everywhere. Freaking Rambo. Steve flicks the gun safety on and pushes the weapon into the waistband of the back of his jeans. Danny's abs tense hard and he holds his breath. Yeah, well. His tongue flicks over his lips and his eyes drop to Steve's ass.
"I'm not eating outside." Steve shouts over his shoulder. He leaves the door ajar.
"You arrogant sonofabitch." Danny sputters flabbergasted.

Rachel from the Animorphs
How I feel about this character: She’s literally the only person on the Animorphs team who’s almost a decent person. She deserved better friends and better writers and a better datemate than what she got. Was one of my least favorite Animorphs as a kid mostly b/c I just don’t like white people like that.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Her and Melissa would be pretty good. Her and James or Kelly or both would also be pretty good (if written by a non-ableist writer)
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Honestly? With a better writer and shit not having gone down the way it did in canon she’d get along well with David. Again she could have gotten along very well with James’s crew, especially Kelly I think. Kelly is a bad bitch not afraid to stand up for herself and her friends, and Rachel could have used some of that energy. Rachel and Toby Hamee would also get along swimmingly and Rachel’s probably the only one of the Animorphs that has any respect from Toby.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Rachel is the best fighter in the shitshow of the Animorphs team, not b/c she can tank or is willing to get her hands dirty but because she is actually aware of things like good tactics and team dynamics. Neither Tobias nor Cassie deserved their relationships with Rachel. Hell, I still have no idea where Tobias and Rachel’s romantic relationship came from. Also Rachel would have been a better leader than Jake.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.:  Rachel should have dropped the Animorphs like a hot coal once she caught on as to what was happening and joined up with the free hork-bajir

Bloody hell. I’m gonna try to have my cake and eat it too by keeping the name anonymous but I just HAVE to share this. I NEED to share this. It’s important to me.
“Please take your time and heal. We all love you dearly and I'm sure many people have told you by now. I know it might not mean as much to you as to me, but you're an amazing, kind and meaningful person and an incredibly great writer. I hope you can get all the time you need to overcome whatever is going on. I don't know what exactly is going on, but I know and understand one thing very well...the awfully relatable feelings that you might be going through. I might not be much of help, but I wish the best for you.
You're such a kind soul who doesn't deserve whatever is happening in your life. I've seen all the things you do for others and it's extremely admirable. Even the things you wrote, helped people like me escape the reality and I want for you to get all the time and love you deserve and need. I wish I could help you as much as you help others, so if you ever need anything I'll be there as well. I love you to bits Rachel...I wish I could hug you and protect you from whatever and whoever is hurting you! I'll fight them all 😡😤
Please take care of yourself and accept the help of others...I want you to be happy. 💕 I know I'm a stranger, but I couldn't be a silent little reader anymore and watch. Before you go and take your time to heal, I wanted to let you know how much I love and appreciate you. Thank you for everything you did for others and me! Even if it doesn't mean as much to you as for me, but even the little things you did are much appreciated! 💓 Rest and heal well, we all love you dearly and will wait for your return, it doesn't matter how long it may take! 🥺 We love you Rachel! sO sO mUch! ♥️”
Tumblr media
My freaking heart. I had no idea people felt this way about me. That someone has actually noticed me that closely. I still can’t wrap my head around it. I’m trying to type but I can’t freaking see because of the huge fat crocodile tears gushing from my eyeballs.
I had no idea, my sweet little shopper. I’m so glad I was able to give you that door that helps you escape your own hardships. Life is hard enough, isn’t it? And you don’t have to respond to this because I’ll be responding to you in private in case you want to stay anonymous. I respect your privacy.
But I also am tickled pink that you would overcome your silence for whatever reason you may have had. I totally understand and respect your silence. A lot of readers are shy and sometimes us writers write about kinks that sometimes our readers might have a hard time coming to terms with.
I myself have read some pretty dirty nasty kinky stuff and let’s just say I still haven’t came off anon because I’m just too shy and have a fear of being judged for my kinks. People can’t judge me if they don’t know it’s me~
I’m sure my readers have good reasons for being silent. I’m going to trust my Little Shoppers and hope that one day they’ll feel comfortable enough to reach out to me just as you have.
I’m just sorry that it’s taken me falling apart to bring us closer together. ^/////^;;
Your words mean more than I can express right now. I’m still really high on emotions but I can assure you, I’m never forgetting this moment you’ve given me. You and I share a precious bond, my Little Shopper. The bond between a writer and their reader. Every single one of you are so precious to me. Thank you thank you for reaching out to me like this. I’ll never ever forget it.

Destiel Chronicles
(Vol. XXIII)
It was a love story from the very beginning.
When you're more than family
(6x16/6x18/6x20)
Hello my friends! How are you??? We have this chronicle and the next one, and we'll be officially finishing season 6!!!
I want to give thanks to my friend @agusvedder she made the gifs for this meta, thank you girl! 💕
Ok, I'm gonna talk here about an interesting parallel I saw between Rufus/Bobby and Dean/Cas, I consider this a huge proof to settle Destiel as a romantic relationship. I'll take episode 16, 18 and first part from 20.
But let's start for once! Enjoy!
Episode 16 as a foreshadow for Leviathan and Castiel's possession
Episode 6x16 "And then there were none" we had two specific situations foreshadowing what will happen by the end of this season.
I want to talk first about the foreshadow of the arrive of Leviathan inside Castiel's vessel.
Pay attention to this piece of dialogue...
BOBBY: So, we're talking about, like, a monster that gets in you?
DEAN: It's like a Khan worm on steroids.
SAM: You mean like a parasite, something that took over your body.
DEAN: Worm crawls in you, worm crawls out.
RUFUS: Monster possession? That's novel.
SAMUEL: Or that thing's still in you, and we can't trust a word that you're saying.
This was foreshadowing Castiel's Leviathan possession, a monster that gets in you, is clear here the parallel, and then Dean saying "worm crawls in you, worm crawls out" is what will happen with Cas at the beginning of season 7.
Episode 16 as a foreshadow of Dean and Cas break up
When Sam faces Samuel, there's an interesting quote there, that can be seen as a foreshadow too...
SAMUEL: Just because you're Dr. Jekyll at the moment doesn't mean you can get all high and mighty. Don't forget, we spent a year together.
SAM: Yeah, we did. We're blood. And you still sold me out.
Sam is claiming here to his grandfather, his family, because he betrayed them. Cas is family too, and they have been together for a large period too. So the betrayal will hurt deeply. But mostly to Dean.
Now, let's jump to the interesting conflict between Rufus and Bobby. There was something in their past, something huge that hurted Rufus and he couldn't forgive Bobby.
Read the following dialogue...
BOBBY: Yeah, s-shut up a minute. I'm trying to say something. It was my fault – Omaha.
RUFUS: No. No, it wasn't.
BOBBY: No, I should – I should have listened to you.
RUFUS Well, hey, that's categorical, Bobby.
Think about this, Bobby here is CAS mirror, and Rufus is Dean. Bobby/Cas is regretting something he did in the past that hurted badly to his best friend. And that quote... Is what Cas would feel at the beginning of season 7 when he will try to get Dean's forgiveness.
Okey.. let's continue...
BOBBY: I – l-let me just get this out.
RUFUS: Bobby, we've had this conversation already, okay?
BOBBY: No, we haven't. I never said I'm sorry, Rufus. I – you lost her because of me, and I—
RUFUS: Bobby, I said we've had this conversation already. And you could blabber all day...And it wouldn't change a thing, Bobby.
Tumblr media
I saw this and I was like... Of course, this is talking and yelling Destiel all over the place. This is a blantant foreshadow of Dean and Castiel fighting.
Castiel trying to convince Dean, and Dean too hurt to listen. Cas saying "I'm sorry" and Dean "This won't change nothing" , I know you remember this ... The next episode are so sad that my heart hurts.
Ok, but... The scandalous thing isn't this parallel... But Dean's own words...
Cas is more than family for Dean... That's why he won't forgive him
Ok... This was an enlightened discover here (sorry if someone else has seen this before, come and share your thoughts) but... When Dean listened what had happened between Rufus and Bobby, and when he knew Rufus has never forgiven Bobby.. this was what he said...
SAM: So, what happened?
BOBBY: It was Omaha. It was my fault. And he never let it go.
DEAN: Well, he should have.
BOBBY: You don't know what I did, Dean.
DEAN: Doesn't matter.
BOBBY: What do you mean, it doesn't—
Tumblr media
DEAN: (...)We're gonna spend it wringing our hands? Something's gonna get us eventually, and when my guts get ripped out, just so you two know, we're good. Blanket apology for all the crap that anybody's done all the way around.
SAM: Some of us pulled a lot of crap, Dean.
DEAN: Well, clean slate.
SAM: Okay.
Two things with theses words Sayed by Dean...
1) Dean thinks family and friends deserves forgiveness, no matter what they did. Ergo... If he thinks that, why he couldn't forgive Castiel's betrayal? Isn't Castiel family? His best friend? Like a brother? Why then he didn't forgave him? Simply, because for Dean CAS IS MORE THAN A FRIEND, AND MORE THAN FAMILY. This is just logic, my friends and a huge proof of what the writers want us to see, a big subtext of how Destiel was written romantically. In his own words we will hear him say too in 7x17 (Reading is fundamental) that what Cas did, he doesn't know why, but he couldn't forgive him. And he will say too, that never had happened to him before. You need more proofs?? Dean is in love with Cas. But he still doesn't admit it. (He will in season 8).
2) He says when his time comes... He wants to know everything is ok with his friends and family, so everything has to be forgiven. Ok... That would explain why when he was about to die in that mission to kill Dick in season 7, he forgives Cas.
Ok, now, following the same idea, we had this sweet snack, brought by my dearest friend Agus, I was screaming like a crazy lady when she told me this... Pay attention... In Dean's words too...
Episode 6x18 "Frontierland" Dean and Sam travel in time to track the Colt.
DEAN: I know where we can find one. March 5, 1861. Sunrise, Wyoming. We'll "Star Trek IV" this bitch.
Ok, Dean... Star Trek... Men on space... You'll be an astronaut or something like that...
Immediately after this... Dean prays to Cas...
DEAN We got a guy who can swing it. (Dean stands up, and prays) Castiel. The, uh, fate of the world is in the balance. So, come on down here. Come on, Cas, "I Dream of Jeannie" your ass down here pronto. Please.
(an angel appears in the vessel of a blonde woman)
DEAN: Jeannie?
Ok, not Cas, but... Wait a second... Why are you an astronaut and Cas is Jeannie? We all know what happened between them... Yeah... The fell in love with each other!!! *Screaming*
Then I died and Agus went for the dragon balls to resurrect me.
She will add something in the comments beacuse when she showed me that "thing" she found ... I died again. So. Agus, be responsible.
Now, just to give a closure to episode 6x16, another petit foreshadow...
Sam and Dean will lose his second dad
At the end of the episode, the boys are alone looking at Rufus's grave.
And then...
Tumblr media
Here a sad prelude of Bobby's death in season 7.
Dean's blind Faith in Cas
In episode 6x18, we had a curious situation, Jealous!Dean strikes again, when he prays to Cas but the one answering is his lieutenant.
Tumblr media
She is angry with the Winchesters brothers, because she thinks they call Cas just to use him for their capricious desires.
But in the middle of that discussion, Cas arrives.
The tone in Dean's voice and his facial expression is yelling jealous, that's not the point here now, but just wanted to mention it, because is our jam.
Fine, now... In this same episode we see Cas walking into the dark side, and we have this dialogue with his lieutenant...
RACHEL: Castiel, I've been hearing things. Things I don't want to believe. Just tell me if it's true.
CASTIEL: If what's true?
RACHEL: You know. Your dirty little secret.
CASTIEL: I have to defeat Raphael.
Cas is willing to anything to defeat Raphael.
RACHEL: Not this way, Castiel.
CASTIEL: Rachel.
RACHEL: We put our faith in you, and...look what you're turning into.
CASTIEL: I don't have a choice.
RACHEL: Then neither do I.
Rachel is disappointed with him, her leader is working with Crowley.
We see this scene, and immediately we are worry too about Cas behavior and future.
But the most hurtful and beautiful episode from the whole season was 6x20, The man who would be king, written by Edlund, this episode was an oasis for Castiel's fans. Here Cas talks directly with us, Edlund describes the character he created and explains why he's doing what he's doing.
I divided the episode in two parts, I will talk here about Dean's blind Faith, trust, in Cas... Is very heartbreaking watch him trying to believe in Case till the last second. Because CAS was more than family to him.
So, first of all... This scene...
Tumblr media
If you notice Dean's face. He's worry about Cas. He's worry because his brother and Bobby suspect about him, and he feels between CAS and them. He tries saying that to him. Because he still trust him, and he is sure if something is wrong, Cas will count on him. And the longing stare, so Destiel here. Cas is struggling with telling or not the truth, and Dean is expecting some answer. This is sad and angsty my friends...
But Dean isn't the only one feeling himself between two poles, Castiel is too. When he arrives with Crowley, the King of Hell makes him notice he knows about it...
Tumblr media
Crowley says this, knowing how it sounds. It sounds like a romantic thing. And he did it on purpose. So, Crowley is presenting Cas and Dean encounter inside the Impala as a romantic scenario.
Now... Let's go with Dean arriving to Bobby's house...
Tumblr media
Ugh, that. He still believes in Cas, he is giving himself excuses to kept his faith on him, the same happened when CAS leave him alone on Purgatory, or when the angel didn't scape from there, he invented in his mind excuses, because he loves Cas so much, he never would expect betrayal from him.
And Cas being there, hidden, listening to his friends, as if he was a spy.
And this quote here...
Tumblr media
This is sadness, because he's watching Dean trying so hard to be loyal to him, imagine the war Cas was having inside of him. He felt he was still the Winchesters's guardian, but at the same time, he had HIS MISSION, and nothing goes before CASTIEL'S MISSION.
If you're not crying so far... I have two more things Dean says because he loves and trusts in Castiel....
SAM: Yeah. So what now?
DEAN: We'd call Cas.
SAM: What?
DEAN: This is usually the point where we would call Cas for help.
BOBBY: We talked about this.
SAM: Yeah, Dean.
Tumblr media
DEAN: I mean, when there was no one...And we were stuck - and I mean really stuck - he broke ranks. He has gone to the mat cut and bleeding for us so many freakin' times. This is Cas! Don't we owe him the benefit of the doubt at least?
Yeah... Let's cry... Even with all the evidence, Dean believes in him. Cas is Sam and Bobby's friend, but for Dean, evidently, HE IS MORE THAN THAT.
So they prayed to him... But Cas was there... Listening hidden... And didn't come...
DEAN Castiel...Come on in.
CASTIEL But I didn't go to them...Because I knew they would have questions I couldn't answer...Because I was afraid.
Tumblr media
Edlund shows us the whole time Castiel's inner war... His feelings... His suffering.
And Dean... Dean still believes in him... Because here you have another invented excuse he gave himself...
To Conclude:
6x16 was full of foreshadows for Destiel fight, the arrival of the Leviathan inside Cas and Bobby's death. It also showed us what Dean thinks about forgive family or friends. Ergo, and because he couldn't forgive Cas, Cas was more than that to him.
6x18 gave us a romantic parallel with the astronaut Dean and Cas/Jeannie.
It shows too Cas in the dark side.
6x20 was a beautiful episode written by Edlund, showing us the intimacy of Castiel's thoughts. The POV is exquisite, and explains perfectly why Cas was doing what he was doing. Edlund defends his character, and writes a romantic and angsty chapter.
Dean believes in Case against all the evidences, just because he loves him. And Cas is more than family to him.
I hope you like this, see you in the next Chronicle!
