I really love your art style with the very visible brush strokes and distinct shades. I've actually been to an art school but I still never really got good at drawing, but I still, I get so much joy from looking at beautiful artwork like yours.

I never know how to respond to compliments other than saying thank you, but know that I mean it!

Art school, personally, helped me in some ways and not so much in others. While I don't think it exactly helped me grasp the style I wanted (something I've been having a better idea of lately now but still a little fuzzy!), it certainly helped me to try and discipline myself (like gesture drawings. I try to do gestures every day even if I don't plan on drawing. I've been slacking a bit on it, but have been getting back into it lately) among other things.

I realized I wanted a more "painterly" look with my art after college, and is something I'm exploring in terms of the different ways to go about it.

Two artists I suggest maaaaybe checking out are bluebescuits (they're only on Insta and Twitter, so, sad. But their youtube has been helpful to watch) and @/sonyshock (who is on Tumblr among other places! They also have a youtube channel that I've found helpful to watch!)

The former is where I got the idea of wanting to do more painting, and the latter is whose techniques I've been practicing with lately! But if you like my art, you might like their's as well!

I actually have a full folder for art inspirations, and many ideas/styles clash with each other haha

So they're not the only two I take inspo from exactly, but they've definitely been a pair that's been important for me learning and having a better grasp on digital painting, specifically I think.

Anyway, I'll elaborate on this in the tags bc omg I'm going to yap your metaphorical ear off.

#SO during the whole “affogato almost takes over the citadel situation” dark cacao cookie [whom i will refer to as DC for my health]#dc basically took all the cookies that were hunting/fishing/patrolling the surrounding lands for food and stuff to make them work #on fortifying the wall #therefore two things happened 1] the cookies who still were hunting for food literally couldn't keep up with the apatites of cookies who #were working super fucking hard on the wall and 2] all the farming imports from the villages near by stopped almost entirely because #it was too dangerous to import their goods or get anything from the citadel [like tools] so they had to keep what they could for themselves #so effectively a famine was starting #and so cookies started eating things they probably shouldn't like deer crackers and wolf treats #looking at you Caramel and crunchy chip #caramel just never fully kicked the habit because it was what she had alot of and she would trade her rations for them with the villages #crunchy chip just allways did that tho. he's just like that #Dc on the other hand grew up in those lands before there was real communication between villages or a citadel to depend on for rations #so famine was common and rough. eatting bark and leaves were common place in his home so while he does eat jellys he never kicked the #craving for tree bark #on the plus side hes got a crazy strong stomach and can eat just about anything #whereas chocolate wafer is from a small village near the hollyberry kingdom so they have allways had an abundance of fruits and juice to #snack on. they managed to convince dc to add dried berrys to their imported goods list and now they are considerd a sweet treat #idk how to put this in kinda organically so ill just say the dc kingdom is a place that depends on imported goods heavily #things like precious metals and food usually comes from the hollyberry kingdom [and gc before her isolation]#in return dc kingdom provides military support and has the best medicine in all of earthbread. something weird going on right now vis a vis the depression, the suicidal ideation, and the heartbreak-- I can actually feel that I'm vaulting some of this stuff. like, my mind all but refusing to touch it. it's being put in the vault? I'm going numb a little bit

Goddamn, MTMTE goes hard on the third readthrough

#mtmte #maccadams #first readthrough is for getting the overall gist of the story #still enjoyable but you spend a lot of time being confused and getting characters mixed up #even more so if you're not familiar with previous idw material #and even more than that if you're not familiar with g1 in general #second readthrough is for re-experiencing the story with the added context of knowing what tf is going on and who's who #much easier to keep track of all the little connections and intricacies #plus you have the added knowledge of where the plot's going so you can properly appreciate like. foreshadowing and stuff #there are some offhand remarks in the first few issues that made me have to physically stop and take a moment #once i realized what they were referring to #anyways #third readthrough is for appreciating all the little details #we already know the forest now it's time to appreciate these trees babey #yeah the main plot beats are great but some of these smaller moments go SO hard #and the craftsmanship of it all? the pacing the layout the Excellent use of page turns. So good for building suspense + getting that Impact #Anyways. fantastic experience. god i love comics #And of course this experience is greatly enhanced if you put several years between rereads #so you have a chance to forget about some of the plot twists until they're right in front of you #thus giving yourself the chance to re-experience those 'OH SHIT' moments #even if it's a bit earlier than you're supposed to

Hear me out (or don't... it's fine I'm just venting and mean) yeah um I don't believe Chakotay was saved in Prod*gy s2.

#the 'time travel' makes no sense when you think on it. What happened to Prime Chakotay? He got killed they showed that.#At the end s1 Janeway finds an 'alternate chakotay in an alternate timeline' and that's the one they go and get #we saw the original get merc'd in the message. That ACTUALLY happened. Lmao.....#They didn't prevent THAT death because they didn't go to THAT Solum with the Infinity and stop it from happening #instead it was 'ALTERNATE #' implying other.#OG Chakotay wasn't taken over by the alternative one either nothing suggests that was the direction for him in s2 #they didn't do anything like 'well you see chakotay because at the end of s2 when we converged timestreams you have merged with your other'#if they did want to recover the original from s1 then keep that clear instead of being convoluted dont use an alternate timeline wtf #instead the plot was focused on gywns stupid fucking paradox plot and her being fixed #chakotay was the one in a paradox too did that not matter nah dw about it he had to die for this outcome or someshit lmao why #In the extended message given to admiral janeway it shows him clearly getting left behind and surrounded. Sadly no one intervened.#I dont understand why they couldnt have just made s2 about his rescue alone IF they took their time it wouldnt be so difficult #to follow #above that the one they rescued was ruined by the 10 year gap so he wasn't 'saved' at all. God i hate s2 when you break it apart #I dunno the more i look at s2 Janeway and Chakotay the more upsetting it is.
