Do you think you might ever open up an online shop for prints for people who can’t make it to conventions?

I've been wanting to open one for a while, I had plans to last year but they got shelved for a bit as I still had a lot left to figure out. One of the biggest hurdles I've been sorta kicking down the road is figuring out shipping, as it's never really been my strongest skill LOL Just the logistics of it all is kinda hard on the brain in addition to every other thing I'd have to setup. I know I can do it, it's just trying to get through that mental block of figuring it all out and getting it setup properly.

Other than that, I also have to make sure I have the proper equipment. I have a printer that's pretty decent, but I'm kind of in the market for something that's a bit more ink-friendly as the one I have currently chugs ink like I chug shorty's on a Friday afternoon LOL So I'm weighing my options when it comes to printing as it's a toss-up between "do my own printing so I can print on demand and not have more stock than I need" and "pay someone else to do my printing for me so I don't have to buy printer ink but potentially have to deal with bulk stock that I can't move". And that's not even getting into the manufacturing costs of my other products like my stickers and keychains - that's all stuff that I usually have to order in bulk, so I'd wanna make sure there's enough interest in buying them before I open a shop for them so I don't wind up with a bunch of unsold merch!

Needless to say, running an online shop is complicated and a ton of work! So I wanna make sure if and when I do open one, I do it right in a way that benefits both buyers and myself for the purpose of self-care :' ) I also wanna get out of the funk I'm currently in as creating standalone illustrations has admittedly gotten harder over the past couple years. Drawing comics is no problem because I have direction through the script, drawing illustrations from scratch on a blank canvas suddenly makes my brain short out @.@

But yeah! TL ; DR yes I would LOVE to open up an online shop for the folks who wanna buy my original art! It's in the works and I hope it's something I can bring to you all soon <3 <3

Alright peeps I'm joining in this chaos and you should all fear me This post has no plan or path this is just a ramble analysis of things I notice in the new episode so :D

Ok but Chosen stopping mid-chase to save that civilian by destroying the debris really goes to show how he's improved as a character, this guy went from destroying Alan's PC, to rampaging various sites with Dark, and now to this. Glad to see him as a proper hero now :D

I'm happy to see the ice powers coming back cuz after that one time he froze the Firefox I thought they just forgot about it lol

Chosen is Zeus now Also he just like creates a glacier 2 seconds later cool

Also quick shoutout to Alan's Desktop organization He has come a long way

I find it funny how much everyone focused on this clip in the trailer especially, like "Oh no does Orange get mad at Alan again?? Is this related to Vic???" and the reality of it is "lol wanna fight me guys?" "Sure sounds fun :D" Alan you have bamboozled us again

I find this moment rather interesting So after Alan pulls up the thingy and sends them all flying then crashing down, Red appears to be acting like they hurt their head and Yellow notices and crawls over to see if they're ok (Awwwijascsdhljw) but as soon as they do Red just punches em?? However then Yellow puts their hands up in a way almost to be like "whoa whoa it's just me" and then Red accepts the comfort. Idk I just find it interesting, like Red is still in fight-mode after the sparring match and doesn't quite register that it's Yellow touching them at first XD

Chosen: "COME ON DO IT, DO THE EYE THING" Orange: "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT IDK HOW TO DO THAT" Chosen: "YES YOU DO JUST DO IT, LIKE THIS:" Orange: "AAAAAAAAA" *Tries to do laser-eyes with every ounce of focus they have*

Aight but like where did this guy (Btw I'll call him Striker cuz that name was going around and it's cool) get this stuff? Has their group attacked a Desktop before and managed to steal enough UI to make this guy OP? Cuz he uses a lot of really crazy stuff during this fight and I can't help but wonder what poor animator woke up just to find the entire UI on their software missing lol

I love how Chosen really just pulls the "Throw the kid in the pool to teach them how to swim" on Orange and his powers here lol Then to Chosen's surprise it does not work "Aw shoot the kid is drowning now I gotta save them smh"

YEAHHHH ART POWERS Ok but actually though I find it interesting how differently the Pencil tool works outside a Desktop, like usually Orange like speed-draws the whole entire thing but out here it's like Ah yes, line scribble = E e l I mean it actually kinda makes sense, in the 3D world it'd be really difficult to draw anything really so the Pen just changes function a bit based on the environment

Also someone else on a different site suggested the name "Warnman" for this guy cuz he looks like the typical hazard sign guy who's always showing the dreadful things that will happen if you don't obey the sign and I think the name fits so Warnman is honestly my favorite of these guys just cuz of how wacky they are lol

Dude how much charge do those electro-bullets hold if that thing is STILL zapping Chosen This poor guy Also the way Striker fights throughout this whole scene is so cool

I find it interesting and I think Alan pointed out in the reaction video (really funny btw you should go watch that too) That Striker is totally just messing with them before that, like sure he probably has to be close to the target to use the Pause attack but I like to think he was enjoying the fight before that and is only just doing it now cuz he's bored lol

Aight so the Rocket Group is the one hunting Chosen I wanna know though- why Chosen specifically? Are they just after all Hollowheads with the powers or is it just Chosen they want? Maybe they're after all of them but Chosen is the only one with a super known presence? Also who are these guys?? They seem to be just some independent group but do they hold any sort of actual authority over Stick City? Man I have so many questions

How do you pause fire-? Does it still burn? I assume not cuz I think it woulda burned the guys bringing him by now Man that's wacky but cool Also another question here is like, is that white box a containment unit or some sort of display case? I'm thinking more along the lines of containment but like he's already paused and they left the door open I think??

Aight now we're getting to the theory-fuel Why are they studying all this UI? Where'd they get this UI? Why do all these sticks look exactly the same??? Like I get that it's just supposed to represent a large group of workers and stuff but they are all exactly the same shade-

also this is kind of entirely random but I've been following you for some months now, but it was only JUST NOW when I was clicking on your blog trying to think of a question, that I took proper notice of the sticker shop banner you have on your pinned (despite, seeing it all the time orz) AND SAW THAT YOU HAD SALLY FACE STICKERS ON THERE!! I didn't know that was something you like/liked!! :D But that's really awesome to see to me ahhhh it's one of my favorite games

also also I absolutely ADORE the design you made for Gilda, it goes SO HARD and it just looks so good I have to do a double take whenever I see her because, gosh, what she does to my heart is unfair >A<

I'm not great at coming up with questions, but, you mentioned in I think the last poll for Randy and Imani about the trope of fretting over ruining the friendship you have with someone when you catch feelings for them, so my first question is: who would have worse anxeity over their feelings for the other screwing up their friendship, between the two of them?

Funnily, the shop still isn't open. I wanna finish 2-3 more stickers before opening up again. But yes, I do love Sally Face and will definitely play when the second game comes out. I actually also drew a lot of fanart for it and probably will again once the next game comes out. The general tag list is here if you're curious.

And thank you regarding Gilda <3 as mentioned, I am really surprised she got such a positive feedback. I like her design but didn't anticipate people going nuts over her lmao. I saw way more tags/comments about her compared to other art.

Regarding Randy and Imani and that trope - god I'm such a huuuuuuge sucker for it... I imagine Imani as very curious and experimental in nature so I don't see her being that anxious about it. But then again, I think I love Randy falling for her pretty early on in their teenage years and covering it with jokes and over-the-top and thus not serious flirting. I can see Randy being anxious for years to not advance anything in their friendship because she can tell Imani doesn't have feeling for her. Yet - because I like to think Imani starts to get flustered once Randy is well-known secure in her job as deputy captain. Honestly I could see Imani need a nudge into the right direction from all other women fawning over Randy. As in, she probably only starts to see Randy's romantic potential once she actually starts paying attention outside of their friendly banter. (I imagine her head is always all over the place so she just doesn't see Randy in any intimate/romantic way before). But after that, she definitely also has anxiety over making a move. Not as much as Randy though.

As for the fave pieces.... I actually adooooore the two butches and have been cursing myself for not drawing them more.

A/N: I just couldn’t NOT write another fanfic about Mk and WuKong. These two are my life and I never want them to be separated. Btw, this is like a 2 parter to ‘Hide and Seek’. This ones a little short and I didn’t go all out but I hope it works.

Summary: Morning has arrived for the two monkeys but Mk still hasn’t turned back yet. I wonder what’s keeping him. While they wait, Sun WuKong finds that not only is Mk a shy person, but also an artist.

“Mk! Breakfast!” Sun WuKong called out for the 4 year old as Mk rushed outside. Mk was suppose to turn back into his normal self by now, but he hasn’t. Maybe he was a late bloomer. Either way, WuKong was beginning to miss him. Not that he didn’t like his little kid version better. He just wish he knew if the old one was coming back.

“Monkey! Monkey!” Mk cheered as he hugged onto his mentor’s leg like a baby monkey. WuKong chuckled at the sight. “Ready for breakfast?” he asked as MK nodded rapidly. “Yea yea.” Sun WuKong, still having Mk hold onto his leg, grabbed one of the peaches from the tree for him to eat. Mk reached out to grab one but WuKong picked him up out of reach. “Nu uh, little guy. You’ll be having something different.”

“But I wanna eat what you eat.” Mk whine in the cutest voice ever. God, it took everything in WuKong’s body not to blush. “You wanna eat peaches?” Sun WuKong asked as Mk replied, “Yep.”

“But I thought you loved bananas.”

“No. I like peaches now.” WuKong giggled at Mk’s determined face. He would do anything to be like his mentor. Even eat the same fruit. Well, if Mk wants to eat bananas then Monkey King will have to do the same. So, ditching the peach, WuKong carried Mk over to the bananas so that he could eat a proper breakfast without gaining immortality. “Where are you going?”

“To eat some bananas. Want some?” Sun WuKong smirked already knowing the answer. Mk seemed to forget all about the peaches when he saw that his mentor was eating a banana.

After breakfast, Sun WuKong used his time to meditate on his cloud that he made for himself. Sometimes when he would wake up from a trance, he would find Mk looking directly at him. Almost like how he use to watch him before he met him. At first, he found it creepy yet admired by his admiration, and soon, he’d gotten so use to it that he looked forward to meeting him every time he opened his eyes.

So you can imagine his surprised when he realized that Mk wasn’t staring at him like he use to. As a matter of fact, he wasn’t even outside. “Lil’ Monkey? Where are ya?” Monkey King called out. He didn’t get an answer. Hopping off of his cloud, Sun WuKong rushed inside his hut and opened his door only to find Mk laying on his tummy drawing while sticking his tongue out. Mk kicked his legs happily as he drew another picture, not noticing that Sun WuKong was by the door.

Breathing a sigh of relief, the Monkey King closed the door behind him and grabbed the child’s attention by poking his neck. “Hey kid, whatcha drawing?” Mk, startled that his mentor was here, squealed and quickly covered up his drawings. Mk shook his head. “Nothing.” he said as a small blush appeared on his face.

Sun WuKong frowned a bit, confused by the kid’s reaction. Usually, Mk was so outgoing and bright. He rarely hid anything from him, even when he was upset. But, now he wasn’t letting him in on his obviously adorable art work. “Come on, bud. Lemme see.”

“Nu uh.” Mk replied. Now it was Sun WuKong’s turn to pout. “Aw, but I wanna see.” Mk looked at his mentor before shutting his eyes and turning away. “Well, if you won’t let me see, then I’ll just have to make you.” WuKong proclaimed right before he hoisted up his pupil into the air. Mk squeal in surprised and started to giggle when his mentor started to talk funny. “Stop it.” Mk pleaded, but secretly, he was having fun. “No way, Jose. We haven’t even begun. Now then, what’s gonna make you tell me what you were drawing just now?”

“Hehehehe nothing.”

“Oh, off to a bad start there, kid.” Sun WuKong said before he raised Mk’s shirt a little bit and blew a raspberry on his tummy. This surprised Mk so much, that he didn’t even bother to hide his massive laughter. After he stopped to give Mk a breather, Monkey King rubbed his nose through Mk’s neck. “Come on. Tell me.” he teased while making it sound like he was crying while his face was buried in Mk’s neck. Mk giggled and tried to shake his head, but he settled for a verbal response. “I won’t!” Mk managed to say as he heard his mentor gasp dramatically. “You won’t? That’s so mean.”

“You’re mean!” Mk replied, even though his giggles and smile proved that he didn’t mean it. Sun WuKong laughed a bit. “I’ll show you mean.” he said right before he flopped on the couch on top of Mk. Mk didn’t have time to make out what was about to happen before he felt the largest ticklish feeling in his life. His mentor was blowing raspberries on his tummy again, but instead of just raspberries, he was also tickling his sides. So, no matter where he would go, Mk would always find a ticklish feeling that he can never escape.

Once Sun WuKong realized that Mk was in tears, he stopped his tickle attack altogether to let the kid breathe. Mk rolled over to one side and hugged his tummy so tight he thought he would squeeze himself to death. “How ya doin’, bud?” Sun WuKong asked genuinely as Mk stuck his tongue out at him making him laugh. “Yeah, that’s fair.” he said, grabbing Mk by his tail and lifting him up upside down.

Mk couldn’t help but giggle at the feeling. “So, wanna play a game?” Monkey King chimed as Mk nodded with excitement. “Yeah yeah.”

“Okay, come on. Let’s go eat lunch so we can play.” Sun WuKong suggested as he put Mk down and watch him rush to the kitchen. Sun WuKong looked at the drawing that Mk was hiding. It was of a tall monkey with teal and red armor followed by a red pack over his eyes. It didn’t take long for WuKong to realize that it was a drawing of him. Shaking his head with a smile, Sun WuKong followed the giggling boy to the kitchen, eager to both feed him and show him how much he appreciated him.

Hello guys. It's been a while since I made a post like this, but today I wanted to talk about my art. I haven't posted something proper in forever, and to say I haven't spent this entire time at least doodling a thing or two would be a lie, but there's a reason why I haven't been posting much and just keeping my art semi private, or multiple, let me explain (I'll have a TLDR at the end if you don't wanna bother with this, but written awfully):

First, I believe you guys deserve more than some stupid sketches. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy sketching, aesthetic aside, drawing multiple sketches a day is how I pushed myself to experiment new things and just get better overall, plus I draw them fast, so I could pull a bunch of sketches in the time it takes me to color just one, so I could spill one silly idea after the other. I don't know why or exactly when I started to feel like this is just not worth it for you guys, that you deserve more from me than what I put out, that maybe I disappoint you immensely. This isn't even about reach, I don't care about that, this is about me showing something worth to see.

Second, is how I chose to spend my time. Last year was a very busy year for me overall, my job became increasingly demanding at times, lotsa personal issues that stressed me out immensely, which resulted in me using my remaining free time doing other activities, including spending time with people I shouldn't have been so permissive with (except my gang, that's why I made it a New Year's Resolution to annoy you guys more, you know who you are), it became a thing where I was even afraid to say no to them in favor of my art or other me-activities in fear of them taking it the wrong way, which, in a weird way, ended up happening anyway and resulted in long term passive aggressive conflict, and well, all of this negativity and then some, especially combined, made me reluctant to pick my pen up most of the time, which leads me to my next point.

Third, not drawing as often made me lose my momentum considerably. I could draw stuff comfortably without much artblock, if at all, or something I thought looked ugly. It just came out naturally, sometimes without even using references, it was crazy, but I feel I lost that momentum; don't get me wrong, I don't think my art looks worse than before, far from it, I did a comparison a couple of days ago and I noticed that despite all these issues, I have indeed improved a lot, thing is, I still feel it doesn't look good, I can't seem to know where I want to go with it, or what I want it to look like, I have no idea how to describe this feeling of "I hate immensely what I've been doing", maybe I'm beating myself up too hard and this is a result of not sharing anything with you guys, but I want to be comfortable with the characters I always draw before I bring them out again (although for some reason Purah's perfection always makes my doodling easier, she has become my ultimate comfort character it seems, hah).

All that said, I want to change things this time. I'm not sure if I'll post more like I did before, or if I'll post less than I used to, but I want to post things again. Maybe won't start soon, but will definitely do it. I've even been stocking up on traditional materials to pick the pen back up in other ways as well (haven't done this since my college days, so I'm a bit excited), I don't want to make promises I can't keep (you guys know I'm terrible with keeping up with stuff lol), but I will try my hardest to post more finished pictures and less sketches. It might result in me posting less art and/or jokes as before, but we'll see where that leads me. I'm still not sure if I'll continue to keep the sketches to myself or not, but one step at a time, step one is to just stop beating myself up, turns out my negativity knows how to throw hands. If you read ALL to this point, my most sincere thanks, I know it isn't easy to put up with my crap, and if you didn't it's fine, I still love you, in fact, I'll sum it up for you below.

TLDR: I'm a stupid piece of crap that didn't know how to manage my free time which resulted in me developing a very serious case of imposter syndrome and I'm throwing hands back in hopes, no, in expectancy of walking out of it a victor, for my sake, and for you guys as well.

i’m gonna get a digital drawing tablet soon!! an actual tablet!! i won’t have to use my finger anymore!! (one pro of not having proper digital art equipment is that i have gotten pretty good at drawing just with my finger. the way you can change the size of the brush in Freeform feels like a luxury, i constantly forget it exists)

talking to my friends and family <33 this sounds very basic but it does remind me that there are people who love me and people that i love and who doesn’t love being loved and loving in return

drawing on my sketchbook :] i drew eyes all over the cover and the sides are rainbow and i doodles all over the inside and it’s just so much fun to draw on surfaces you don’t usually draw on (ie not just flat paper). posca pens work very well and they’re very fun

Bugsnax Drabbles: Sketchbook

It was the first time in years that Buddy had a proper sketch book to draw in. They’d taken to doodling in their notebooks alongside their notes, rarely putting much effort in. But now they had a whole big pad of paper just for drawing. It was nice paper too, thick and gray-toned instead of the classic white. The pressure to draw something good in it, especially as their first drawing was immense. So much so they’d been putting it off but it was time.

They gathered it up along with some pencils – the nice charcoal ones that they rarely used these days for fear of wasting them on half-assed art – and their good erasers. After sharping some of the pencils back to a proper point they headed back to the kitchen. Quiet as they could, they sat at the table and laid out their stuff. Flipping open their sketchbook to the first page, they looked up at Filbo.

He was cooking dinner, still in the early stages of it, and thankfully didn’t seem to have noticed Buddy coming back in. He was the perfect candidate to be the subject of Buddy’s first serious piece of art in however long it had been. He was the one who’d gotten them the sketch book after all upon noting how much Buddy liked to doodle. Why’d he’d gone out of his way to get them a nice one was a mystery but regardless, it was a nice gesture.

After just watching for a few minutes, they picked up a pencil and set to sketching, not trying to capture any particular pose or movement, just Filbo. Having so much space to draw in felt awkward and clunky at first but they soon found a groove and settled into it again. By the time they got the detail stage it felt almost normal to be putting effort into a drawing again. When it was done they were even almost happy with it… key word there being ‘almost’.

It had been a long time since they last put serious effort into anything art related, they were rusty and it showed. But well, it wasn’t the worst. They’d managed to capture some of Filbo’s cuteness and charm. And they could always try again and hopefully draw him better next time. Because there was going to be a next time for sure. They’d always enjoyed drawing people, especially people they liked… especially people they had a crush on. Not a thing that happened often, thankfully, but they were well and truly in love with Filbo.

Well, if they’d finally found the courage to draw in their new nice sketch book maybe that meant it was time to find the courage to say something to Filbo too? The drawing hadn’t turned out as good as they’d hoped or wanted but it wasn’t terrible so perhaps their confession had a chance of turning out the same? But were those two things even really…

“Buddy! How long have you been in here?”

They looked up to see Filbo looking at them. “Uh, a little while.” Having forgotten to bring their fixative spray – if they even still had any after so long – they laid their sketchbook open on the table and stood up.

Filbo stepped closer and leaned in to look at it. “Is that me?”

They hadn’t quite intended to show it to him, just to lay it down, but too late now. So they turned it to be facing him so he could see it better. “Uh, yeah. You like it?”

“Oh Buddy, I love it!”

“Good. That’s good because…” they moved around the table to stand next to him, “because… I love you.” They smiled, or tried to at least. Maybe they shouldn’t have come on quite so strongly.

Filbo froze, turning his gaze back onto them. “You mean like… um… uh…”

“Romantically. It’s okay if you don’t…”

“I love you too! Also uh… the same way. I didn’t think that, um, you felt the same. And I didn’t want be weird since I’m like staying at your house and stuff.”

That was also part of why Buddy had been so nervous about confessing. But… “If we both feel the same then, uh… want to maybe go out on a date like this weekend or something?”

“Yeah, a date sounds lovely. You also maybe wanna like kiss or something? It’s fine if not I just… uh…”

Feeling emboldened by how well this was going so far, Buddy leaned in for a kiss and then an embrace as Filbo pulled him closer for another.

What is this game?

I mean it is a video game indeed. What does it really mean to me? What does this game stand for? Why is it being made at all?

What I'm about to say next is gonna be so hazardously cliche that you might wanna brace yourself. The journey of developing this game was a journey of self discovery. Yes I too am cringing at what I said. But not self discovery as in oh I didn't know who I was and now I suddenly do. I always knew who I was since young age. It's discovery of how intense the "who I am"-ness goes. In fact, someone more sane and reasonable than me would say it's so much that it's counterproductive.

I actually did talk about a platformer game I used to work on like a year ago at SubscribeStar. I gave up on it because I was making it just because I was told by my environment at the time that it's the best route for beginners. I like neither "minimalist" graphics nor platformer genre. Also making vector art was so painful for me.

So the significance of my current touhou clone project is that I said fuck you to "minimalist" vector art and started drawing normal, raster art with my mouse. Drawing with mouse was of course equally painful but the difference was that I tapped into my dormant passion for art, like not just a general loose definition of art such as banana taped on wall, but specifically "moving my hands around and laying pigment on a canvas". Digital equivalent, of course. Shortly followed by buying a drawing tablet.

So what this game initially was going to be was just a prototype purely for the sake of learning the ways of programming a bullet hell and a complete game (as opposed to gamejam). But the jagginess of a mouse drawn sprites were just too unbearably and physically painful to look at and it was nothing less than a necessity to redraw with my beloved drawing tablet so at least it'll have smooth edges, easy on the eyes.

But, even after all these years of being a game developer I was still hilariously naive. Technically the first game I ever made was in fucking 2015. The first one to be uploaded on the internet was in 2017. It's unbelievable how I still thought foolishly like "Oh yeah I can finish this game in just 3 months. Ha, see ya soon as a proud developer of a released title."

Anyways, the point is that after such a long time of working on it, I suddenly couldn't see myself just throwing it away as a prototype intended for no one to seriously play it. So the game evolved into "at least a proper game". Which was actually a great decision because, I could release an utterly bare bone prototype that only just serves to have the core idea of a bullet hell touhou clone in terms of programming. But if I did that, I would spend ten years on my second project because that would-be prototype is still nowhere near enough of a programming school. What I didn't realize in the past is how enormous the difference between just spewing out prototype code and meticulously developing a full game with all little mini-mechanics and mini-systems working in harmony. So by spending more time on my first project, I will be spending less time on my second.

I thought that's what the game was gonna be. Just a nice and proper game that I won't feel any shame about purposefully making it garbage like I was originally planning to. Someone sane might say that would be very reasonable place to stop but here comes the part where I expand upon what I said at the beginning about it being a journey of realization of the depths of my personality coming at a detriment of productivity, as in how fast I produce products.

You know how the dress of my player character looks. It's a reference to that platformer game. I am a craftsman through and through (please don't take it as I'm jerking my own dick, I'm just trying to communicate myself clearly). I have emotional connection to my creations for I see them as something that is real and has meaning. I'm not a producer pumping out products on a conveyor belt feeding the bottomless vortex of consumerism. So instead of completely cutting that old platformer game out of my life like it was nothing at all, I decided to pay homage to it as elements in my current game. Basically an easter egg that only extremely few, like 2 or 3 people will recognize. Although it was abandoned for legitimate reasons, I respect it as my first attempt at serious, non-gamejam game. And I immortalize it's legacy this way.

You might remember this flipping tile thing was actually made long ago. But instead of having just a random nothing as a texture, I made it a throwback to one of the key elements of Square Heart (the name of the platformer game, btw), the iconic blue crates and outlines that light up when the player walks over them. Btw the loading is intentionally slowed down to show the spinning border lights more clearly. It doesn't load that slowly in reality lol. Wait, that means players are not gonna really see the thing I spent so much time making...

This is how the player would respawn. Just pop right back up. I mean there is nothing wrong with it. It's a classic animation in all the arcade shooter games.

What I decided to do however is a throwback to how the player character of SquareHeart respawned.

This one is gonna appear in only one of the 5 stages because only one has a night sky. This is the iconic minimalist gradient trees that I tried so hard in SquareHeart to be the main attraction. I actually always planned to have no background at all in this game for the sake of not getting way too ridiculously ahead of myself for a first game. Just plop down the skybox I found on the Unity Asset Store. Now that I decided to do this in one of the stages, I have pushed the standard so I have to figure out something for other stages as well. Also the speeding up you see is not the default but just a short section. Inspired by stage 4 of Touhou 8: Imperishable Night, where the boss tries to run away mid-fight and you chase after them. "Chasing" as in just the background scrolling faster, nothing else really.

The bomb, or what's modernly referred to as SpellCard of the player is a legacy that's actually truly lost. Long long ago in 2019, there was an ancestral version of SquareHeart that featured a cutscene that focuses on this circle flower-like talisman thingy. Literally only one person might remember it besides myself.

This one is not part of the SquareHeart. But if you remember, before I actually started to draw, the player character of my bullet hell was a vector art butterfly. In fact, it all started from a game-jam I wrote a blogpost about right here on Tumblr a long time ago. In fact, if I remember correctly that blogpost is the very reason why I created a Tumblr account to begin with. So this butterfly too won't be forgotten. It's now on the other side as a mini-boss. And every other stages will also have butterflies of different design as their mini-bosses.

And, yeah et cetera. There is actually at least one more easter egg to make but I'm yet to come to a final design decision.

I want this game to be actually something more than "just a proper game for the sake of being a proper game", let alone a throwaway prototype. I want this game to have an actual self to stand solid and have meaning to me. And that meaning is that it's the first step of my journey as an artist ("art" as in a form of indie games, not just visual illustration) but also a rightful payment of respect to my first step as just game developer in general. The past should be put to rest respectfully so the future shall flourish in full force.

I’ll get back on the purgatory au train soon, just wanted to get this piece out there since it’s been stuck in my head for awhile now. Officially gave them both color, but tbh I don’t like angel boy’s color pallet fully.

Either way yeah! More of them. I don’t have a separate name for both of them, because they are technically the same person. The Angel form is the “mental image/idealization” of the former. A regular, constantly tired dude trying to find someone he loves.
