don’t let vehicle problems go unfixed for too long, folks (i rode on a leaky front fork which i fixed last night in an hour, but because i’d let it leak oil all over my front brake for months i had to clean it all and replace the brake pads, a process that took three additional hours, during which i discovered that my brake caliper pistons had seized because of all the oil and gunk in and around them from the leaky piston. so now i can’t ride till i’ve fixed it, and while i’m at it i might as well change the brake fluid and try and do the fork oil as well cause i have to top it off anyways and if i’m gonna crack it open i might as well just drain and replace it cause it’s overdue…)

Thoughts on the TNA remix!

Suburbia Overture

• Loveddd this one sm, genuinely had me giggling and kicking my feet

• The vocals are so much clearer in this version, especially w/ the ensemble parts (doo-wops, ‘good morning!’ etc.)

• Not rlly sure how to feel about the drums tho, idk why but it was kind of giving me trap vibes?? It didn’t sound bad or anything, just not what I was expecting + it was a little out of place in the first section

• I feel like the musical theatre/60s doo-wop aspect of Greetings From Mary Bell Township was kind of toned down a little bit in this version? Maybe that’s just me tho

• The part before Vampire Culture was AMAZING, the crackly, radio filter really works for this section and the instrumental in the background was incredible, would rather listen to this part than the original any day

• Speaking of Vampire Culture, WOW did I love this version of it

• Like the transition from GFMBT felt so much more impactful in this version?? Genuinely felt like a punch in the gut, had me floored

• The clear vocals make this version of VC so much better as well, love that we can hear the screaming in the intro and instrumental breaks properly now

• A little less chaotic than I wanted tho, but that’s more of a personal problem than anything

• My fave part of the song by far

• Also love how much easier to hear the vocals in Love Me, Normally is now

• I do miss the piano being more audible but it’s not a huge issue

• The build-up to this one is sm better imo, and I love the extra brass part in the intro

• The vocals are thankfully much better here, and the song overall feels cleaner

• The background voices in the chorus are a little louder and I can actually here what they’re saying now

• Especially love the piano here, it’s always my favourite part of the live performances so I appreciate it getting some more love here

• The percussion here is also so much clearer, which is always a plus

• The bridge is genuinely incredible, like I’m literally ascending

• The added percussion in that section helps so much

• Acc might prefer this one to the original, surprisingly

• The slightly quieter instrumental works in its favour

• I’m not sure why but I didn’t really like this one?

• Idk it’s kind of got the same problem with 222 for me, the vocals just don’t sound particularly clear and I’m not a fan of the effect Will uses here

• A little disappointing bc I was rlly hoping to love this one

• The piano solo is way better in this version tho, it’s a big improvement from the original

• Overall tho it was just kind of forgettable

• Not exactly bad, like it’s still I / Me / Myself, but I don’t think I’d give it another listen

• I’m so happy the skeleton bones were added in this version

• Unfortunately I think I prefer the original instrumental tho

• I don’t have any issue w/ the vocals here, but honestly the instrumental in Outliars was always my favourite part of the song, so changing it so drastically left me a little sad

• Bonus points for the skeleton bones though

Black Box Warrior

• I showed my dad the new title for this song and I think he had a stroke

• This might be the longest WW title ever? Not sure though, BFB might still reign supreme

• I really like the drums here, and while the focus on the piano in the original is one of my favourite things about BBW, I think the choice to let some of the other instruments have their time to shine helps this version really stand out

• Surprisingly, the echoey vocals in the choruses actually add to this version, rather than annoy me like 222 and I / M / M

• I ADORE the instrumental and monologue section in this version

• Like I’m not sure how Will managed to make it better than it already was

• What did he put in this part

• Overall really solid, tho I think I might prefer the more piano-centric original a tiny bit

• Gonna be honest rn, I really don’t like this version

• My second favourite in the album

• Actually adore this version, 100% better than the original

• The background vocals are once again louder in this version, which adds a ton more to the original song

• I always liked the relative simplicity of MM when compared to the rest of the album thematically, but I like the added texture here

• The little woosh in the bridge also makes me happy so yk

• It’s probably the least changed song out of all of them but I still prefer it to the original

Keqing buried her face in her hands, frustration and exhaustion washing over her. Less than a month until the Lantern Rite, and she still felt no closer to finalizing everything than she had on day one. Everything was piling up, and to be fair,  everyone was overworked. Still. That didn’t stop Keqing from wanting to complain.

She slid all the papers away from her once she looked outside and noticed the sun was setting. She was ready to go home, maybe after a quick dinner. The day was ending, and Keqing did not want to trigger burnout.

Keqing waved goodbye to Ganyu and Ningguang, leaving the Qixing Headquarters for the day. As she stepped outside, she debated whether or not she was actually gonna eat out, and if so, where.

She settled for Wanmin, if only because it was close to her home, and Mao did take-out. So she trained her feet down to Chihu Rock.

She wove through all the crowds, thick despite the sun falling below the horizon. She deftly avoided so much as brushing shoulders with anyone, her quick speed and reflexes helping her in crowds more often than she’d admit to other people.

She arrived at Wanmin after about half an hour, and slid into an empty barstool. She was surprised to see Xiangling in the kitchen, but then figured she must have returned from her latest adventure. So she gave Xiangling her order, not that she needed to, because she already knew. And as she waited, Keqing put her head down on the counter, cushioned by her arms. She closed her eyes, and let the ambient noise lull her closer and closer to dozing…

And then someone slid into the stool next to hers with a giggle. When Keqing looked up, she was met with the scheming face of Director Tao of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Keqing sighed.

“Do you need something, Ms. Tao?”

The young woman grinned even wider. “Are you all alone on a Friday night? Not anymore!”

Keqing’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Is this another marketing ploy?”

Hu Tao shook her head. “Nah, I’m just here to keep you company. You look exhausted and lonely, so I figured I’d abandon my consensual stalking of Zhongli and come hang out with you!”

Keqing’s frown only grew. “I have questions. Like, what do you mean by consensual stalking?”

“Oh, he told me it’s okay and he always spots me somehow, so it’s consensual. I only do it to Zhongli, though. I’m well aware of legality, Lady Yuheng. I stay well within it.”

“That’s why you haven’t been arrested,” Keqing agreed with a sigh. “For the record, Ms. Tao, I don’t think you deserve all the calls you get from the Millelith. You are, in fact, running a business. Does everyone agree with your methods? No, of course not. But you’re just drumming up business. No different than the jade vendor hawking his wares. People just look down on your business because of their fear.”

“So, you’re not telling me to change my tactics?”

“Why should I? So long as you aren’t trespassing or harassing people, you’re really no different from the other vendors. It’s not your fault if your ‘product’ makes people uncomfortable.” Keqing perked up as Xiangling set down a plate of golden shrimp balls and took Hu Tao’s order.

“It’s just. Some people think I should change things. Be less forward, use more euphemisms, stick only to billboards, stick only to pamphlets, shut up and let people die, then they’ll come to you.” Hu Tao pressed a hand to her eyes. “Sorry, I got a little emotional there, haha. Anyway, some company I am. How are you?”

Keqing had just stuffed a shrimp into her mouth when Hu Tao asked, so she made a point to chew slowly while making eye contact before speaking. “I am frustrated with my job, but it is nothing that I haven’t done before.”

“Oh that’s right, you must be working on the Lantern Rite festival!”

“Yes. Things seem to be moving rather slowly, and I’m not sure how to speed them up.”

Hu Tao grinned with her eyes closed, though a small tear still glimmered on one of her lashes. “Hey, I’ll help if I can! Maybe if I’m not talking about ghosts and death, people will listen! Besides, I’m an excellent director or manager. Not a single person has complained about my management skills, living or dead!”

Keqing stifled a giggle as she grabbed another shrimp ball. “Well, we’ll see, but ultimately it’s not up to me. But if we need someone to hype up the workers, we’ll give you a call, maybe.”

Hu Tao hummed. “Fine by me. Hey, you know what you- and probably me, too- should do after the festival?”

“Hm?”

“We should go on vacation!”

“I can’t.”

“Ningguang’s labor laws apply to you, too, Keqing,” Hu Tao said, dropping the formalities.

It threw Keqing off, though, the sudden change in tone. Everyone referred to her as the Yuheng. They referred to her as authority, as someone in charge. But Hu Tao was not doing that. She was referring to Keqing… more like a friend. 

And that did something to Keqing.

She stammered over her meal. “W-well, even if I were to take a vacation, I don’t think it would be suitable for us to go together.”

As soon as the words left her mouth, Keqing knew she messed up. She tried to back track and clear it up, but Hu Tao laughed and leaned on the counter with smirk.

“So, you’re thinking about going on vacation with little ol’ me? I’m flattered!” She leaned in close. “I’d love that.”

Keqing flushed, and hurriedly started shoving fried shrimp into her mouth. Hu Tao leaned back and laughed.

“Your face is priceless!” She shrieked. “Oh, Archons, I’m so sorry, but that was so funny!”

Keqing glared at Hu Tao over her stuffed cheeks, too dignified to start yelling through a mouth full of shrimp, but needing to get her point across. Hu Tao just laughed more.

“I never bought it when guys said this but, Keqing, you’re cute when you’re angry.”

Keqing felt the receding heat in her cheeks return full-force, and she swallowed and pointed her chopsticks at Hu Tao. “You. Are on thin ice.”

Hu Tao giggled, picking at the noodle dish that Keqing hadn’t even noticed was there. “Well, unfortunately I’m a Pyro! So say bye-bye to your ice, Miss. Or, rather,” she says, catching a glimpse of Keqing’s Electro vision, “Prepare to be Overloaded! By, uh. Feelings.” Hu Tao slammed her face into the counter, narrowly missing her noodles. “Way to go, hotshot,” she muttered.

Keqing paused. “What do you mean?”

Hu Tao suddenly stood up. “HAHA LOOK AT THE TIME I BET MR. ZHONGLI IS ON HIS DATE NOW, WOW! I MUST BE GOING!”

Keqing quickly grabbed the cuff on Hu Tao’s jacket. “Wait, I want an explanation.”

Hu Tao looked away, and made eye contact with Xiangling, who had shamelessly stopped working to pay attention to their conversation. Xiangling giggled at the helpless face Hu Tao was making.

“May I?” Xiangling asked, leaving the kitchen for good. When Hu Tao nodded, Xiangling Turned to Keqing, a semi-serious expression on her face. “We need privacy! Ms. Keqing, if you’d be so kind as to come with us?”

Keqing was a little confused by the turn of events, but still desperately wanted to know what was happening. So she nodded, and followed the two young ladies to a more secluded area down by the docks.

When they got to a quiet area, Hu Tao looked less nervous and embarrassed, but Xiangling’s mischievous grin had only grown wider.

Xiangling spun around. “So Hu Tao has something to tell you!”

Hu Tao shot a glare at the younger girl, then started fidgeting with her hands. “Well, the truth is. I’m a lesbian.”

“Congrats,” Keqing said, not quite getting what was happening. After all, she was a demisexual herself, but even so, she didn’t get the hangup around sexualities.

“And I have a crush on you.”

Oh.

Keqing felt her face flush again, and Hu Tao kept talking.

“I’m really sorry, but you’re just so smart, and strong, and cool, and you’re cute when you’re mad, and you’re so kind at your core, and you’re not afraid to express yourself. And before I knew it, I really, really liked you!”

Keqing finally finished processing everything Hu Tao was saying, her eyes going wide. Xiangling had long since departed with a song on her lips, but now all Keqing could see was Hu Tao silhouetted by the moonlight on the bay water.

“Hu Tao.”

“You don’t have to reciprocate! I just. Wanted to explain why I was being a little. Weird. I’ll leave you alone, now. Forever.”

“No, wait.” Keqing held her hands up and shook her head. “This isn’t a rejection. I may not be ready to try dating yet, is all. I’m, uh. Pretty slow when it comes to this stuff. You may have to give it some time to see if there is anything. But. Maybe, there is a chance. Don’t give up hope, Hu Tao.” She hesitantly placed her hands on Hu Tao’s. “Just. Be patient? Please?”

Hu Tao nodded with a watery smile. “I can wait. I can wait a hundred lifetimes if it means I get to spend even one with you.”

Keqing felt a tingle in her soul at that statement. A promise was wrapped inside.

The Lantern Rite was reaching its peak. The big fireworks show, this time personally overseen by the family from Inazuma, was about to launch. And instead of supervising the launch like she had in years past, Keqing was running through the crowded streets, looking for just one person.

She ran past the Feiyun guild, where Xingqiu was chatting with some Mondstadters. She ran past Yelan who was talking with Yanfei and Ganyu. She ran past Shenhe, who was perusing goods with Chongyun. Past Ningguang, Zhongli, and Beidou. Finally, down by the docks again, she found her.

Hu Tao turned around at the sound of Keqings festival heels clicking against the ground. She opened her arms up, and Keqing threw herself into them.

As the first fireworks went off, Keqing pulled back. “Hu Tao. I like you, too. I like you back. This is fast for me, but you are kind, and you are a fantastic listener, and you make me laugh. And you’re cute when you laugh with me. So yes, I like you. A lot.”

Hu Tao smiled, happy tears forming in the corners of her eyes. “So, can I ask you to be mine?”

“I already am.”

Keqing’s confession was punctuated by the largest firework of the night going off in the sky, and as the two girls leaned in close for the first time, the world seemed to fall silent.

short and to the point. yes, please. i feel like, lyrically it sums up everything the album talks about. and musically it's a really round finish to an album that's pretty heavy. i love the little bell-like sounds. and listen, i'm auto-tune's number one hater but... i really like how the low-pitched lines play against with those bell-like sounds. also, it ends in a very re-playable way, it leaves you wanting more. that's a good thing. i love that.

At first he doesn't register what he just thought, but when he did he freaked the fuck out.

He jumped up, quickly said "I have to go," and ran out of your room like a bat out of hell.

He's actually rather normal with you after that though.

It's like he hadn't realized anything, until he remembers that he has a crush on you.

Then he gets pink and starts stuttering a bit.

He isn't a touchy friend in general, (like Yuuji), so any random touches you guys did were now extremely scarce.

He didn't want to accidentally out himself somehow, so he decided to distance.

Confession

Megumi can handle others, but he can't handle his own emotions.

So, he chose to distance himself. It was a great idea right? He would just take a few steps back until his feelings died down, and then everything would go back to normal. No harm, no foul.

Well, full harm. He hadn't said anything to you, just slowly inching away. You used to hang out all the time, now you didn't spend more than 15 minutes together alone.

Finally, you decided to corner him. "Is something wrong Megumi?" He looked kind of flushed, and wouldn't make eye contact with you. "You've been avoiding me for like 2 weeks now! Did something happen?" Any nervous habits you had were starting to shine through now.

Megumi just opened and closed his mouth. What was he supposed to do? Just confess his love? Absolutely not. What if you said no or wanted to stop being friends with him? He doesn't think he could handle it if you never wanted to speak with him again.

"Don't just stand there megumi! Please, just tell–"

"I love you."

His mouth moved before he could stop it. The words were swimming around in his head, and the second he opened his mouth it's like they had to escape.

Well so much for his earlier hesitation.

You just stood there for a second before collapsing into him. "Glad I'm not the only one," you muttered into his neck. His face was covered in shock as he shaking wrapped his arms around you.

It was seriously that easy?

tysm for all the recs! i had so much fun listening to them, i really appreciate it! always feel free to rec more :)  

to preface, there’s no actual judging system. it’s all about the vibes. so, in the order that i listened to them: 

the mad ones

i already made a post abt this one, but i have to mention it again. i’ve been listening to it on repeat. like. straight up on a loop. 

i’m obsessed with this

the storyline is so put together, and you can really feel the heart of the show

the characters were well written (with the exception of the boyfriend tbh, i could have done without him), and i’m so fascinated by sam and kelly’s relationship (writers were cowards for making them not gay) 

the songs felt super cohesive, and the repeated drum loop was super well integrated. the sound techie in me is fascinated by the way this show was put together, and i’d love to see it performed (like. fr. i was getting ideas for the design. which is always so much fun)

funny how that works, huh

I honestly feel like guitar reader with George would be soooo cool and laid back!

Like, honestly any relationship with George I feel would be like a "we're friends first and foremost, and significant others second" deal

So even tho you guys are in seperate bands, there's never like any "ok, but ONE OF US has to be the better one" type of tension/joking lmao

It really is just a lot of you two practicing together, trading tips, and just all around honing your skills together

That said, I could see the two of you needing time away from your band mates a lot and so the brainstorming with each other is a bit of a cover up

It's not that you don't like your band, or him his, it's just that you need your space to recharge and the others can be a bit.... much, being rock stars and all

Anyway, the two of you are very skilled guitarists so there would definitely be plenty ideas worth picking each other's brains for!

I think you and George would've met during the Beatles hamburg days in a little dive type of place

Your careers took off in seperate ways later on, but you both just clicked at the time and so you kept in contact ever since!

Despite how close you are with George, you don't really come in to feature on a song or just hangout in studio with all the boys

When it clicks for him, it's like an "um duh" moment where he realizes that you're not out trying to claim the title of "better then John Lennon" or something

Not everything is a competition, and besides, you love him! It doesn't matter who's "more talented"

I feel like you and John met backstage after a show, like maybe you and your band opened for the Beatles or even vice versa!!

He's a little begrudging of it, but from musician to musician, he just had to tell you how great you were that night

After that came a few chance run ins between your bands and before long, you and John figured why not?

I mean, you both at least respect each other's musical talent, why not get to know each other!

You come sometimes to listen in on the Beatles recording sessions, and it's not uncommon for the rest of the boys to kick John off lead guitar and have you "show him how it's done"

It's just a little inside joke at this point lmao

He likes to act all offended and huffy of course, but when you're not around he loves to brag to the lads about how amazing you are, both as a musician and a person!!

The boys can get a little annoyed on occasion when you do come over tho, seeing as recording time sometimes turns into a bit of pissing competition between you and John

But it's all in good fun and also sooo obvious you two love each other and enjoy having a little go at one another from time to time, so they're happy for you both

Paul

Finally, someone who isn't also a guitarist lmao

Of all the other boys, you and Paul compliment each other, musically and instrumentally that is, the MOST

Like John and Paul are the lyrical masterminds always and forever obviously, but if Paul is looking to get a certain tune out? He tries to get in contact with you whenever he can!

It's just that you get him, like John does, but in a different way, if that makes sense. You know?

He'll oftentimes bring his and John's lyrics and a bass sample he's got for it and ask your opinion on the bass playing and even what kind of guitar chords you think would work with it!

Your private practice sessions aren't all work tho, sometimes Paul just serenades you with his bass and his voice and the two of you chill together

You and Paul are DEFINITELY old friends, like from childhood days!!

You've known each other basically since forever, which is how you're able to craft sheet music so well together, but life simply took you in different directions to different bands

Once you two seperated for that while that he was in Hamburg, he realised just how much he missed you and didn't want to be without you or your expertise!

He was 100% going to ask you to join his band, but you had already found your own :/

That didn't matter too much tho, Paul figured the least he could do was finally ask you out so he wouldn't have to be without you!

Typically you don't really come to the Beatles studio sessions, but Paul has been known to come over to you and your bands sessions for sure!

Your bassist is just fine of course! But I mean... Who could say no to some tips and input from good ol macca?

The boys poke at Paul a lot for "cheating on them" with you when it comes to writing sheet music, but they can't deny that you come up with really good stuff together!!

Ringo

I think of all the boys, you and Ringo have like the least amount of tension between yourselves lol

Like there's a tiny bit of competition with any other string musician I'd think, but Ringo and his drums are in a whole other field!

Honestly, Ringo is just in awe of you and your skills

Granted, he doesn't really know enough about guitars to dissect the fine details of what makes you so great or compare you to John and George, but I mean... he thinks you sound absolutely incredible!!

Now, he's not the best drummer in the world, but he keeps great time and you love him for it! Especially when you two have practice time together

And he's so pleased to hear that

A lot of the time, Ringo likes to think he plays for you, rather then just with you and that internal motivation honestly helps push his skills to new heights!!

In the post Beatles era, your Beatle either joins your band, or if that's lost as well, you two form a new group or just a plain duo together!

The transition is a bit of an adjustment period for your Beatle still, but having you there to support them after things fall apart is a HUGE relief

That, and having a familiar face who's also a talented musician to enter a new era of music making with is kind of exciting!

All in all, having you there eases your Beatles post breakup pain and you guys go on to make a couple iconic, landmark albums together ❤️

Alright so I'm doing classic bakusquad (bakugou, kirishima, mina, sero, denki) + shinsou and Jirou.

BAKUGOU

-Okay so. I think that he has the most complicated taste, right? Because there's many styles that would fit him.

-In one hand, we've got songs with a lot of power and focus on drums, most of which he listened to while learning to play. Nice rhythm, kinda a vibe, right?

-Then there's also part of me that says like, he's got a couple songs that remind him of their friends. Buy they're all kinda very energetic in a "this song SLAPS"

-Has a secret playlist which while it's algo a bit heavy, just had some lyrics he can scream. Whether that means sad lyrics or just rage, that's for you to never know because he won't let anyone find out (it's both tbh)

-Hums and taps a lot so of course Jirou ends up knowing what he listens to.

-All in all has a pretty good taste in music but it's not really for you unless you like that kind of beat.

-Definitely picked up a couple songs from his time with Best Jeanist and whenever someone hears that it's a little shocking because uh, very different styles I suppose.

KIRISHIMA

-Some normal stuff I'd say. Just gives me the vibe of "unironically includes the Shrek song in his playlist". I KNOW IT HAS A NAME I don't know what it is tho.

-Will vibe to anything but really just likes something he can sing to. Unlike Bakugou's "just drum along", Kiri is more of a "I am going to sing and you can't stop me"

-Which is why he has a pretty good range but like. Uh, like instead of being really good at like either high pitched or low or whatever, he's fairly good at all of them.

-Okay so I think he'd be the one who finds a good portion of his playlist through memories, y'know? Instead of going through like recommended stuff, he vibes more to things he can remember fondly. Say, a movie he really liked, or the one song that played during the best day of hanging out, stuff like that.

-Likes meme songs, as long as they're good to him AKA they fit his taste. He'll like never gonna give you up, but he won't really listen to the distraction dance a lot.

-YOU KNOW THOSE MELANCHOLIC SONGS? the ones that are like almost rock but not quite?? Those ones.

MINA

-Ok so a long time ago I saw an edit of the squad singing bubble pop electric and that scenario lives rent free in my head now.

-What I mean is that she listens to like, things to vibe and dance to, and generally goes more ln the trendy side than Bakugou or Kiri do.

-This doesn't exclude genres. Like, if she can dance to it and likes it's vibe, it's going in the playlist. Also sings along a lot, so she and Kiri usually alternate between singing.

-I feel like she'd enjoy the random background music from videos she sees and is like "oh? That slaps" and just finds it so she can vibe to it.

-Has a couple of rather emotional songs that when she sings them, everyone is just like 👁️👄👁️ because she sings so beautifully and with such feeling it gives the song an extra layer of wow, nice.

SERO

-Has quite a number of songs that are the vibe of "remind me of home" and it's a very diverse playlist but it's actually really good.

-In fact, he likes listening to those compilations of "songs that remind you of X year at X place" or whatever.

-Definitely some lo-fi or something nice to vibe to whenever he or his friends are stressed or just wanna hang out and chill.

-I feel like he also listens to some like, acoustic guitar covers of songs or something... I mean just a song he likes in a nice vibe? Go for it.

-Has a couple meme or videogame songs there too, some of them were definitely Denki's recommended, but they were pretty good songs and they're very nice.

-I don't know how to describe this, but sometimes his and Shinsou's playlists have a similar energy even if they don't share a single song (though there's usually a couple songs they both enjoy and sing)

DENKI

-Electronic music is, as you'd expect, a good portion of his playlist. However since I don't really know about that kind of music I can't say much further.

-Meme! Songs! And in this case, it included things like the Coconut Mall song, the don't be suspicious audio, etc. (Can you tell I'm projecting?)

-Of course, trendy songs. Some of them stay on the playlist temporarily, some stay forever.

-Once again I'm projecting. He has a TON of playlists but they're like, actually tried to make one and gave up halfway through because he started saving memes.

-So the playlist that he's got that actually work and he can just put it on and vibe to music without scrolling three hours of memes, are playlists made for him.

-Has some songs that no one ever heard of before but they're absolute bangers too.

-And of course sweet Caroline. That reblog lives rent free in my head now.

SHINSOU

-I have NO idea what his general music taste could be, but I can name a few things I can see.

-Some sad songs to vibe to (Nobody by Mitski, Goodbye to the World (yes the among us song), uh... My music knowledge is lacking tbh. Polish cow! Which he found via Denki I guess)

-Wont admit it but he actually has a couple songs that he found from his dads' playlists. Which I don't know what they are like but you get the idea.

-Will vibe with everyone's music, honestly. They have good taste, yeah, but it's also the "oh I'm too nervous about sharing my music" feeling.

-Also likes specific playlists like Sero does, mostly as background vibes while he does something else.

-ASMR. But like the ones with like keyboard typing, writing on paper, etcetera. The sound of company. But this is mostly whenever he can't just vibe around his cats or get like a group hang out session.

-A couple songs for kids (Eri) that are actually a bop.

JIROU

-Guitar and voice. Like people just grabbing a guitar and singing, whatever that's called. Mostly low-pitched or very melodic.

-A couple of songs that snuck into her playlist after making one for everyone else. And some she added on her own because her friends have good taste.

-Romantic songs!! Personally, I'd like to think she has soft love songs that remind her of Yaomomo, or that Momo herself sent her.

-Movies and series soundtracks. The whole thing of creating a vibe throughout the entire soundtrack is something she likes to see.

-Maybe includes a couple songs of her own when she really likes how they turned out or if she poured a lot of emotions into it. Embarrassed if someone finds out though.

Who is your celebrity crush?: i don’t think i have a celebrity   ‘crush’   in the traditional sense.   i really love kenneth branagh    (   duh   )     and simon pegg but i’d ...  much rather    talk    to them   ?   have a coffee and just ask them about their opinions about life and the things they value   ?     there are a lot of celebrities who i find aesthetically attractive,   but u know what,   i don’t really thirst after them like that   ? 

What’s a sound you hate; sound you love?: cutlery scrapping over plates   /   bowls.    that shit gets me   every single time   .     i love the sound of blackbirds in the morning,    a rowdy ocean,    someone laughing   ;    and i mean    honestly laughing  ,    like the kind of laughing that makes you forget how to breathe.   

Do you believe in ghosts?:   which sane european doesn’t these days  ?

How about Aliens?:   are we really going to believe that we’re the only form of life in an infinite universe  ?   are we really going to be so vain as to claim that  ?    of course i believe in aliens.   

Do you drive?:  ....    for legal reasons i shall say that i do not have my license and therefor i do not drive ...

What was the last book you read?:    uhh  i think it was the chamber of secrets book because ...  i re-read that for obvious reasons.    i am waiting for 7 books to come in today though   !   

Do you like the smell of gasoline?:   yes,    it is one of my favourite smells in the world.     but then again i also love the smell of burning rubber so ...   

What’s the worst Injury you’ve had?:  no thanks,    i’m gonna pass because all my injuries are either really depressing or i can’t talk about due to confidentiality agreements so xoxo. 

Do you have any obsessions right now?: does gilderoy lock/hart count as my forever obsession  ?   i think i have been    really    into f1 racing lately.    to the point where even my boyfriend who is a f1 fanatic has to admit that i am ...   more of a stan than he is at this point.    perhaps my obsession for years has been to be happy   ?   

Do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong?:   i’d say both yes and no.   i give people    a lot     of chances,    but the moment they pass that final line it is done.     only a few people have crossed that line though ....    and those who have absolutely deserve it.     

In a relationship?:   yes,    dating a non artistic white man who is a car guy  ....    i could have done better in that department     (     no,   all jokes aside he is lovely and i adore him    )

Loving the band au sketches, what kind of genre of music would everyone make?

you only asked for genre but i have brainrot so i will ELABORATE

alma: shes a guitarrist, if she made music it would be heavy metal, grunge metal, etc you get what i mean. but she would dig to play punk and rock as well, specially noise rock

carol: can sing decently and she can also play the accordion, but her favorite genre of music is punk and grunge. if you mash these together you get... evil and depressed accordion music?? genre: cursed

cirrus: can play drums but not at all interested in the band life, just vibes with whatever everyone else’s playing... he’d rather be screaming in the crowd

paloma: since shes an angel she can play pretty much any instrument, and has an angelic singing voice, but she gets really bad stage fright so she wouldnt be in a band. shed be more of a solo artist who drops albums and she’d make pop-ish music. also while she can play any instrument, she has a large preference for the piano/keyboard, so that fits better with pop

haze: where did this guy come from in this au? we don’t know. anyway he’s a very good bassist, plays rock music

corbin: not in a band, but someone dragged him to a recording studio because he makes really weird glitch music and it sounds sick. those are his screams of agony tho. he’s not happy with it.

dominic can play the violin and flamenco guitar but he’s not at all interested in being in a band.

remet: can sing. i’m not really sure what genre of music she’d sing tbh, but something more traditional than modern, but its fine because no one’s inviting her to sing in a band

lyre and rouxinol: the two can sing really well and play any instrument. i guess applying them for the band au doesnt work because lyre is frozen in the pits of hell and rouxinol doesn’t even know what bands are, but just for the fun of it, i’d say rouxinol would be a lead guitarrist and lyre would be a bassist. idk what genre theyd play tbh

Fair warning tho, this one might be more of a second priority fic if I get overwhelmed lol.

Summary: Azula disappears into the Forgetful Valley. Years later, while helping her Aunt run a flower shop, Mai has a run in with a rather bold and bizarre woman who decides to help her run her flower shop.

No content warnings this time; this one is gonna be more lighthearted. If it takes a turn I’ll update the warnings.

“I’ve lied about a lot of things, but not about this.”

“That’s the thing about lying a lot. Even the truth becomes a lie…”

She swallows. She thinks that it was over before it started even if she didn’t know. Even if neither of them did. But this wasn’t a lie and the bits that were sure felt like the truth.

The capital is quite lively today, Mai supposes that it makes sense enough considering that it is the fire lord’s birthday. She can’t say that she has any such mirth for herself. This isn’t especially unusual, people are generally hard pressed to find something that does spark her amusement even faintly. All of this festivity, however, leaves her feeling more bleak than usual.

“Hippo-ox tail skewer?” A vendor offers.

She shakes her head and pushes her way through the crowd. The delighted shrieks of children are grating on her ears. She grits her teeth, what she would give to be at home again. Even endeavor of selling nauseatingly bright flowers would beat wandering around The Capital, being bombarded by constant reminders of the man she’d let go of. He isn’t so great. She reminds herself. And his family certainly isn’t one that she’d like to marry into. Decidedly she is doing herself a service by staying as far away from Zuko as she can. She casts a glance over her shoulder to where the palace looms both mockingly and majestically. Clearly she isn’t making good on keeping that distance. But it can’t exactly be helped, not when Aunt Mura is in desperate need of sales.

She sighs and replaces the ‘at lunch’ sign with an ‘open’ sign. For what it’s worth, the festival is doing wonders for Mura’s shop. She supposes that a few days of taxing hustle and bustle will be worth it in the long run, especially if it means that she will have more time to relax when all is said and done.

She lazily plucks a single flower and twirls in between her fingers. Honestly, what a drag. At least back in her home village, Mura or Tom-Tom would keep her company while she waited for a customer to approach.

She drums her fingers on the wood as she inhales fragrant gardenia and lily of the valley. The wind blows a helping of petals towards the ground, she will let the flowers be their own sales pitch. Contrary to what Mura believes, Mai is inclined to say that these flowers do sell themselves.

She sets her flower aside and looks up. There is a girl, a small thing, approaching the stall. Which is well enough but she is approaching too speedily. Actually it is more of a charge or a sprint than it is an innocent little stroll.

Mai cringes, she watches the girl leap over a cart of furs and onto a cabbage stall. The man gives a forlorn yelp, “my cabbages!” She is almost certain that she has heard that wail before. She shrugs, at least it wasn’t her stall.

But the girl isn’t finished she very nearly topples the flimsy stall as she bounds away, weaving in and out of the crowd. For a moment, Mai thinks that she has dodged a poisoned dart. The girl disappears into the crowd, the moment of excitement she had brought dissipates with her.

Mai shrugs again, “oh well.” She rests her elbow on the counter and her cheek in her palm. How truly boring. She supposes that she was bound to have at least one slower day. It usually is slow after lunch when everyone is rushing to the more exciting festival activities…

“Hey!”

Mai jolts, knocking a flower pot from the counter. The girl catches it and puts it back in place with a grin. “Okay, so I saved your honeysuckles…”

“They’re tuberoses.”

The girl nods. “Okay, so I saved your tuberoses, I’m a real hero so I was hoping you can do me a favor.”

Mai blinks.

“I’m gonna pretend like I care about these flowers…”

“You and me both.” Mai grumbles.

“And I’m gonna pretend like I’m about to buy one.”

“Or you could actually buy one.”

The girl feels her pockets. “I guess I can, but only if this works.”

“What works?”

“Well, I may have gotten into it with the Iwaken boys again. Except this time all four of them are here.” She rubs the back of her head and flashes a lopsided grin. She is missing a tooth, the one next to her right canine.

“I take it you don’t want them to knock out more of your teeth.”

The girl laughs. “They aren’t quite that strong. No, this happened elsehow.”

“Then why don’t you, I don’t know, go fight them?”

The girl shrugs. “I gotta pick my battles.”

Mai looks her up and down. Head to toe she is covered in cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Scuffs of dirt streak her pants and splotch her face. “New development?”

“Huh?”

“Nevermind.” Mai rolls her eyes.

“Thanks!” The girl declares.

Mai quirks a brow. “For what.”

“For helping.” She gestures to four rather burly looking boys. “I think that they bought it. They’d never guess that I’d be looking at flowers.”

Mai eyes the tuberose that the girl is brushing her fingers over. If only she’d bought it. If only anyone would just buy a flower already! “Look, kid, if you aren’t going to buy anything…”

This time the girl blinks. “I’m not a child. I’m nineteen. Twenty, in a few weeks. At least that’s what they told me.”

Now there’s a head scratcher. “Other people told you your age?”

“It’s a long story.” She taps her finger to the corner of her mouth. “I don’t remember the whole thing though.”

“Great. Well, I’ve got a business to run…”

“I can help!” She declares and holds up her coin pouch. “I’m running a little low.”

Mai sighs. “Fine.” At least things might be less drab with this woman around. “I’m Mai.”

“That’s a pretty name.”

“Thank you.” Mai replies. She watches the woman lean against the stall. “Well?” She asks after a while.

“Well what?”

“What is your name?”

“Oh. I don’t have one of those.” She flashes another smile as though she hasn’t uttered the most bizarre thing that Mai has heard all week.
