Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was around midnight when jenni had received alexia messages. the moments she saw pictures of the ultrasound and pregnancy test. she went through five stages of different emotions.
She and the blonde woman had been trying for ages but had recently taken a break from ivf and each other for a while now.
But right now jenni knew alexia needed her more than ever even though she would never admit to it.
Jenni found herself staring down on her phone to reply too alexia message wanting to know if she was alright.
mi amor 💕 : ale ¿Estás bien? ¿Está todo bien?
A while later that she had sent her messages to alexia stil wanting for the other woman's reply. panic started to fuel her body as it been a few long hours since she's sent her messages at that moment.
And that how she found herself booking a 10 hour flight from mexico to spain. She needed to know that alexia was alright especially when her plate seems too be filled with a lot of stuff going on for her at the moment. Once she booked her flight she started to pack stuff that'll she probably would need. has her flight was in a few hours.
Finally arriving at the airport she checked her phone one last time to see if alexia had reply but was met with nothing.
The flight from mexico to spain was very hectic but jenni was able to manage through it.
Alexia on the other hand hadn't seen jenni's messages yet,has she refused to look at her phone one bit. Her heart wouldn't be able to handle whatever jenni wrote she thought.
But what she hasn't expected would be the knock on her front door. alexia wasn't expecting anyone and if she was,she would have known plus her mom and sister had spare keys to her place. She wasn't in the mood to get up and open the door but definitely had no choice as the knocking became louder and aggressive.
Jenni who was on the other side of the door honestly had no idea why she infront of alexia place this late.
she could've headed to her hotel but her mind wonder differ.
The moment alexia opened the door it was closed faster than she could make a goal. Her mind was all over the place,it couldn't be her head just playing random games with her or it was the hormones. Jenni was definitely not outside her house she was living in mexico for heaven sake alexia thought to herself.
Jen on the other side started speaking."Alexia please open the door all I want to do is talk you haven't been answering my messages".
oh she was an idiot alexia thought to herself again why couldn't she answer her. now she had to deal with this jenni was always some who worried a lot and went beyond doing things.
After giving herself a moment she finally opened the door inviting jenni in. they both sat in awkward silence.
Before one of them spoke up getting interrupted by the other trying to also get a word out.
both women found themselves laughing at their situation.
This time it was alexia who finally spoke up." I'm sorry for not responding or calling and instead letting it all on you expecting you to figure it out yourself i just needed a moment to myself cause the day I found out would also be the day i had let you know it was all too much for me to handle".
"oh ale it all alright i don't think would probably be able to deal with all that in one day you are definitely one strong woman". jenni said embracing the other woman into a hug.
"So what are you doing all the way in spain aren't you meant to be somewhere in mexico". she asked with a grin on her face.
"Do you really think I would have your hothead deal with all this alone you had me very worried when you didn't answer and i did the most logical thing anyone could think of".
"So traveling all the way too spain is the most logically thing you could think of instead of calling me". Jenni gave the woman across her the most unamused face when she had finished her sentence.
"Matter of fact don't answer that". alexia said with a smile on her face.
The couple found themselves embracing each other for some sort of comfort. jenni found herself cuddling into alexia from waist down getting a warm buzzing feeling.
"So where having a baby" jenni asked while looking up at alexia.
Alexia could only nod her head at the other woman's word. Too busy to say anything else jenni and alexia found themselves looking each other in the eyes, before she knows it she felt another pair of lips on hers. pulling her into a deep kiss.
Finally done they both pulled away too busy blushing like those rom com movies.
"Wanna go for a drive and get some food you must be really hungry after your flight". alexia asked jenni who quickly nodded.
The couple once again found themselves in the car enjoying a Pa amb tomàquet sandwiches one of alexia favorite also something she had been craving for.
"So does anybody else know".jenni found herself asking alexia a question that been on her mind all day.
"Nope only mi mamí".alexia said before taking another bite out of her sandwich.jenni nodded understanding what alexia meant.
"You know that your always welcomed to stay at my place that if you want too".
"What made you think that I would leave your stubborn head alone". jenni said snickering at alexia before they both busted out laughing knowing jenni was right. She would never leave alexia nor let her get loose.
After finishing eating up the remaining of their food.they both found themselves entwine their hands together and letting in the moment before going home.
They were going to figure out everything together step by step or would they ?
A/n: chap 2 finally done hope you all enjoy it has much has I did writing it,honestly proud of this bit ale and jen have it all figure out or there's more to it all. and as always opinion ideas, asks or anything you would like to see happen in the serie are always welcome 🫶

Hi Em! I hope you’re having a great day and congratulations on the milestone!!!🎉🎉
For your celebration I was thinking about Fanboy and reader finally getting the news that they are approved to adopt! Maybe there’s a set of twins that will be born in just a couple of months that their case worker mentions to them?
Thank you so much in advance!
M
Aaaannnnd, this one made me cry when I wrote it.
This is for my Dagger DILFs 3k party!
It was nearly midnight, and you were laying on your husband's lap watching a movie when your phone rang.
"Who would be calling this late?" you asked, sitting up and stretching. But when you saw the phone number, you turned to Mickey and nearly started crying.
He looked at the number and quickly answered your phone for you. It was your adoption lawyer, and if she was calling this late, you were hoping she had good news for you.
"Hello?" he asked cautiously once it was on speakerphone.
"Sorry it's so late! But I wanted to get the paperwork started now if this sounds like a good fit for you. I know we've been trying to make this happen for a year, but how do you feel about twin girls? Due in seven weeks. Mom lives in Boston, and she picked you guys out of thousands of applicants."
You were already crying and scrambling to get closer to your husband.
"Do you want them?" he asked you quietly, not bothering to cover the phone as he cried too.
"Yes," you answered as tears fell from your eyes.
"We want them!" Mickey said loudly, pulling you against him and kissing you all over your face.
"Great! Congratulations! I'll work on this now, and I'll be over first thing in the morning," said your lawyer before she ended the call.
Mickey tossed your phone aside and held you as you wrapped your arms around his neck. "I'm gonna be a dad," he said, and his voice caught on the last word. "I'm so happy."

sunk deep in the night
Tumblr media
Summary: Hank is colicky, Savannah needs to sleep, and Hotch is happy to help get the baby to sleep so Derek can take a break too.
Pairings: Derek/Savannah
Warnings: none that I can think of
Notes: Inspired by an ask about Derek realizing that he has people he can trust in the team. I'm sure this isn't what you had in mind, and I do have another more case-related thing in store for you as well but this one just captured my heart and I had to make it happen. I've been very very obsessed with Hotch & Morgan & babies lately. I don't know why. This is like...completely unedited. I wrote it while my family was watching a football game so if it's bad I'm sorry.
Words: 2.1k
**
“Baby, go to sleep, I got this.”
“You haven't slept a night all week,” Savannah replied around a jaw-cracking yawn. She couldn't seem to stay awake longer than an hour or two lately, her body just wasn't bouncing back as quickly as she would like. No matter how hard she tried to push through, she hit that wall. One minute standing up and doing the dishes, the next minute the inside of her thighs was burning and her lower back began to ache and she had to sit down...after that, she was done. Sitting always led to sleeping, which led to Derek being on baby duty nearly all day and all night long.
He said he didn't mind. And she believed him. He was so sincere and he did everything with such a genuine love that there was nothing not to believe.
“I'll be okay. You wake up in the morning, I'll sneak in an hour or two. Promise. Now getcha sleep, girl. I didn't just push a baby outta my hooha.”
She leveled a soft glare at him and rolled her eyes. “I didn't either, Derek.”
“Yeah, well, you know what I mean. Sleep woman.”
He was exhausted, though. His eyes burned, his head felt like it was full of cotton balls and sometimes he walked around like he was drunk on nothing but air. Savannah called him on it, forced him to lie down with her on more than one occasion before he collapsed. They would put Hank in the bed with them for a while, until one of them got too stressed out and then he would go into the bassinet right beside the bed...neither of them slept much. Derek less. Every shift of the blankets, every sleepy little baby whimper and his eyes were open and he was waiting for the cry.
Only tonight, Hank hadn't stopped crying for hours. His diaper was dry, he was well-fed, he was burped...he was just crying. Savannah gave it the name colic and and no matter how she assured him that it wasn't a big deal, that it would suck but it would eventually pass...he hated it because he couldn't do anything but guess at how to help his son.
At 11pm, after what seemed like endless nights of screaming and wandering through the house. Holding the baby close to his chest, bouncing him lightly while he wore a path around and around, past Clooney's sleeping body always in the way, staying clear of their bedroom door. It was raining, but the sound outside was a distraction, so they stood on the back deck and stared out over the soppy backyard, listened to raindrops hitting leaves and splatting against the roof.
“Take a drive,” his mom said sometime around midnight. “That always calmed Desiree. Your dad would put her in the back of the car late at night and take her around the block a few times while I got some sleep.”
He left Savannah a note, tucked it beneath her phone on the nightstand and made for the car. Honestly, he would try just about anything. With a coffee in hand, quickly heated up from the mug Savannah had thrown in the fridge when she couldn't finish it earlier, he hit the road. First around the block, and Hank kept crying, but just before he was ready to give up...there was a brief spell of quiet. He hadn't even recognized it for that at first, it was so otherworldly. And then there were whimpers, sniffles, then coos...and then silence. He was three blocks from home, and something inside of him said not to turn around, just keep going. Just keep going. So he did. He drove. Hit the wide empty highway, twinkling rainbow lights from buildings splattered like paint over the melting black asphalt. His eyes were so tired he could barely keep them open.
A stop for coffee at McDonald's woke the beast, and there were the hectic screams again. This time worse, probably because he didn't want to be woken up. The shrieks sounded panicked and pierced his ears.
“Heyyyy, heyyyyy...I'm sorry, your highness...” he said, throwing the car into drive with a hot coffee already pressed to his lips, scalding his tongue. Driving, he hoped, would return him to that peaceful sleepy place.
No such luck. Hank screamed and screamed until he found himself pulling over just to pull the kid out and hold him, hoping maybe that would help. It took him a full minute to realize he'd pulled over within view of Quantico. Right there, his old home. And an old familiar light was burning on the top floor, corner.
It was hardly even conscious thought when he pulled out his phone and dialed Hotch's number.
“Morgan?” Hotch asked, his voice deep and groggy.
“Hey, man. You uh...” he paused, suddenly flush with shame. Was he really standing outside of Quantico, outside of doors he used to be able to walk through every single day, asking to be let in because he couldn't handle a newborn? He was the man of the house at ten years old, and he'd handled his sisters and his mom and making dinner, he'd survived Carl Buford and his cabin. He'd gone through the police academy, SWAT training, the FBI academy, law school, marched into battle on the football field...but this tiny baby in his arms was undoing him. “You mind if I come up? I need some help.”
He'd always been able to handle things on his own, and he'd always found it hard to ask for help when he was drowning. Hotch and the team showed him that he could, he could ask for help and they'd give it no questions asked. They'd never let him down, but it had taken years for him to trust that implicitly. And yet...he still wavered. He still wondered if he would take too much, ask for more than he should. And he left the team...he walked away from them. What right did he have coming back now, weeks later, like he hadn't turned his back?
But Hotch appeared in the glass, pushing the door open, beckoning him inside. There was a security guard, he could just have called down and had them give Derek a visitor's pass, he didn't have to come all the way down himself.
“What can I do for you?”
Derek thought about the night he told Hotch he was leaving. About what happened before even that. About crying out to Savannah to call Hotch call Hotch call Hotch. Trust. That's what trust looks like, that's what it feels like. No fear lacing those words. He was afraid for his life, but not all afraid that Hotch wouldn't charge the gates of Hell to drag him back. That Hotch wouldn't jump headfirst into the river Styx, fight the devil himself...
“Thanks, man,” he said while Hank screeched in his ear and he didn't have to explain it, Hotch knew. He held the door open to Derek, nodded to the security guard, and stepped into the waiting elevator without a word. “This is late, even for you. Why are you still here?”
Hotch sighed and punched in the button, leaning into the wall for support. “We just got back from a case about an hour ago. I had a little too much coffee on the jet I'm afraid, so I figured I should use it to my benefit and get a head start on the reports.”
“Messy?”
Hotch nodded solemnly. “You could say that.”
Hank's cried echoed in the tiny elevator, increasing briefly when it jumped and started rising, and then dying off as he stared around. The strange feeling of movement seemed to momentarily lull him. Stopping, walking into the BAU, he picked right up where he left off.
“Colic?” Hotch asked quietly, leading Derek up the stairs to his office. The BAU was dark, only the light from his lamp spilled out to guide their way.
“That's what Savannah calls it.”
“Jack was colicky, it made for a lot of challenging nights. Haley bore the brunt of them, but I helped when I was able.” Hotch paused, chewing the inside of his cheek a moment while he watched Hank squirm and cry in Derek's arms. “I could have helped more.”
Derek wouldn't argue with that, but he wasn't here to shame Hotch for being an absent father. The man's life was a cautionary tale. “May I?” Hotch asked, extending his arms to Derek who didn't hesitate to pass the baby to his boss. No. Not boss. Friend. To his friend.
“My mom told me that driving would help, and it did for a while...but then I stopped for a damn coffee, and it woke him up. He's been yelling at me ever since.”
Hotch's eyes met Derek's for a second before fluttering low, looking at Hank who went quiet. Staring up at this new person holding him. “You remember me?” he whispered with a small smile. “I remember you. Your hand was barely big enough to hold my finger and now look at you...”
Derek sat on the couch, leaden and exhausted. It was even less comfortable than he remembered. He'd seated himself here so many times over the years, long long years. Coming in to visit, to talk official business, to complain and to vent. When Hotch first inherited the office, he wanted to get rid of it. The couch smelled funny, like cigarette smoke and moth balls. But Derek had gone and gotten himself hurt on a case, and instead of going home he fell asleep on the couch while Hotch worked and something about that moment...see a need fill a need...compelled him to keep the raggedy old thing. He had it all but fumigated, until it smelled only faintly like thirty years of good old boy cigarettes and whiskey, and there it remained. He ran his hands along the almost pilled velvet surface and watched as Hotch rounded his desk and sat down, Hank cradled happily in one arm. The baby was still complaining but quietly now, little grunts and grumbles, not unlike the man who held him. Hotch cradled Hank against his right side, a pen poised over his paperwork with his left, and every now and then he would look down at Hank whose eyes were wide and as focused as they could be on the strange man holding him.
“What the hell is this?” Derek asked, leaning back into the cushion, completely beat. Hotch smiled and shrugged.
“Babies feed on our panic. If you're worked up, he's worked up. Haley told me that once.”
“You do this with Jack?”
“No. I tried, but I could never manage to calm myself down enough to make sense of it.”
“Well, you're doing a hell of a job now...he hasn't been awake and quiet this long in...I don't know man.”
Hotch just smiled, glancing up at Derek and then back to his papers.
“Thank you, Hotch.”
Nodding, Hotch smiled. “My pleasure.”
Derek knew, without a doubt, that what he said was the truth. It was his pleasure. He could tell that something about holding Hank was helping Hotch, too. The case, he could imagine, had been rough. Usually Hotch didn't flinch, would just say it was fine, but tonight he admitted it was messy. Messy, for Hotch, usually meant that it cut him deeply. And maybe if they'd gotten home earlier, he would have gone home, spent time with Jack and Jessica, but getting home so late he was alone.
Maybe they both needed this, Derek thought as his eyes drifted shut. He couldn't help that part; he hadn't slept in days. Not really. But Hotch wouldn't mind, not really. Hotch was engrossed in his paperwork, Hank was falling asleep to the sound of Hotch's slow heartbeat, and Derek didn't need anything to help him fall asleep except this blissful silence. The white noise, the hum of the air vents and the swishy sounds of cars driving in the rain and an occasional frustrated hum or scratch of the pen or flip of paper.
Derek slept until his phone buzzed and it was Savannah's tired voice on the end of the line. Until she asked him where he was and when he'd be home because the house was too quiet. When he explained where he was and she told him never mind, just stay, and tell Hotch she said hi and thank you and she was going to order his favorite coffee from Seattle in bulk because he must have had some kind of magic about him. She couldn't thank him enough, and even if Derek insisted that Hotch would never feel like this small act warranted such a gift she insisted.
Trust. Derek smiled, curling back up on the couch after asking if Hotch minded, if he'd just wake him when he needed to head home...trust. He trusted Hotch with his life, and with his wife's life, and now with his son's. The first time he fell asleep on this couch he'd just barely started to tiptoe around the first of those things, and now he couldn't imagine his life without the comfort inherent in all of them.

please post more fluffy and blushy and giggly maitland headcanons-you’re doing the lord’s work
Hi there anon friend!!! I’m here to PROVIDE!
Lord’s work???!? I really just love the Maitlands. I’m not anyone special like that please don’t give me that level of pressure I’ll cry ; w;
I know Halloween passed already but I still wanted to include a few spooky headcanons for what I think happens post-movie (as always with some Musical inspiration mixed in)
the Maitlands are only visible to people inside the house
though they tend to hide in the attic whenever guests are over, they make themselves known to everyone nonetheless because Lydia loves seeing her parents and the guests’ expressions and they like feeling a lil spoopy now and then
rumors go around that Lydia aka the weird goth chick brought back the spirits of the Maitlands in an attempt to replace her dad and step-mom with them. the kids around town hear Lydia talking about them sometimes with her actual parents and they always freak when she does
literally the whole town is concerned as to how Lydia the weird goth girl knows about the recently deceased couple that once owned their current home but are too afraid to ask
when Halloween rolls around, Lydia asks the Maitlands to put on their ghost sheets to give out candy to the kids. ofc since none of the kids enter the house, all they see are two sheets mysteriously floating around the house and everyone freaks out. some concerned parents ask for Charles and Delia but bc Lydia doesn’t want her dad learning about what’s going on she tries so hard to convince everyone it’s just props. DONT WORRY EVERYONE ITS JUST REALLY ELABORATE MOVIE MAGIC AT WORK HAHA
Adam is a soft, lovable baby that used to live with two dogs of polar opposite sizes and loved them both equally. one was a massive dog practically the same size as him on its hind legs and the other was a smol nervous chihuahua
he also made friends with a lot of the neighborhood squirrels & birds
Adam is basically the Disney princess of Winter Rivers
Barbara is enthralled when she sees him magically produce peanuts from thin air to give to a squirrel that hopped on his shoulder
the Maitland house is a no-kill zone for animals
the Deetzes learn this very quickly after Delia finds a few rodents in the basement and the resident ghosts refuse to allow them to be killed
Adam teaches Lydia some of his tricks on how to speak to the animals and despite being told it’s to help be rid of the rats, Charles does not approve
the Deetz family knows how deeply protective the Maitlands become once they get attached to a living creature so Lydia and Charles rush to get any and all critters out while Delia distracts them before chaos ensues
Lydia gets all the leftover love and affection and loves it but she doesn’t always say she does because then Barbara will provide EXCESS LOVE and Adam and Delia will join and too much love makes things EMOTIONAL but sometimes it’s GOOD TO CRY LYDIA JUST ACCEPT IT ITS HEALTHY
Adam. Maitland. Loves. His. Wife. and if you are not nice to his W I F E you will not be spoken to ever again what do you think he’s gonna do??? do you even know Adam Maitland???? that’s a man who can’t even frighten a fly. do you think he’d hurt you? are you okay? do the Maitlands need to come hug you too???
BY THE WAY, in my spare time which I definitely have a lot of I MAY HAVE come up with a Maitlands child because I am VERY WEAK for these two and I JUST CAN OKAY
the child is named Charlie
can be any pronouns. I personally choose she/they but I like leaving it open to interpretation
Charlie lovessssssss exploring and going on adventures
it’s very hard to contain Charlie once they learn how to crawl/walk because they are so full of energyyy
their favorite thing to do is ask their dad to pick them up because he never says no and they like feeling tall (yes this is a That 70′s show reference)
when teaching Charlie their ABCs, Barbara came up with the idea of “A is for Adam, B is for Barbara, and C is for Charlie Maitland!”
from then on the Maitlands are referred to as the ABC family, the ABCs, ABC Maitlands, the Alphabets, etc.
Charlie is the hide and seek champion of the house to the point where her parents are concerned as to how she’s hiding so well. they still don’t know her secret to this day
when Charlie meets the Deetz family, Lydia immediately becomes Cool Goth Big Sister
Delia is second mom/silly god mom with all the cool rocks and sparkly clothes
Charlie is convinced Delia is a fairy and Delia loves it because that makes her Charlie’s Fairy God Mother
“D is for Deetz! ABC and the Deetz!” -Charlie at some point after she just met them all
Charlie attempts periodic bonding sessions with Charles whenever they’re in the same room
because they have similar names, Charlie refers to him as Grumpy Me or Grumpy Charlie
Charles secretly adores them and at this point just pretends to be grumpy because it makes Charlie laugh. he knows when to crack funny jokes versus when to actually be serious with them
when Lydia babysits Charlie, they always go out for walks through Winter Rivers together
Lydia always takes pics of things Charlie finds and they keep a scrapbook/photo album of all the Polaroids and neat things they decide to keep
Charlie is very imaginative and comes up with dozens of wild ideas as to where all the stuff comes from
one day they find a birds nest with a momma and her babies in it and Charlie asks Lydia where babies come from
Lydia panics and says that’s a question for their parents to answer
Adam and Barbara freak out when Charlie comes to them with that question and Adam’s scooping them up into his arms and saying “no no not until your older okay??? that’s not something you need to learn about yet!!” meanwhile Barbara’s holding back screams as Lydia explains why the topic came up
whenever Charlie gets in trouble or knows she’s gonna get into trouble, she hides in an easy to find location like under her bed and her parents always console her and tell her it’s okay to make mistakes because you’re only human and making mistakes helps you grow, especially when you admit to them
they’re always proud to hear the teachers’ compliments on how honest Charlie is, even if sometimes it’s a bit blunt
Charlie’s favorite movies are Road to El Dorado, Inside Out, and the Toy Story series
though like their parents, Charlie loves animals, they are scared of spiders because they swear one bit them
in reality some kids were throwing pebbles at a spider web and one of them scratched her leg but she cannot be unconvinced of THE TRUTH
I think that’s all I have for now??? I MOSTLY COULDN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT A MAITLANDS KID OKAY I WANT TO GIVE THE GHOST PARENTS A HAPPY ENDING WITH THEIR CHILD PLEASE I CRY THEY DESERVE SO MUCH
ahem thank you anon friend for allowing me to pour all these ideas out to you :) hope you like them!!!

valentine's playlist | day 2 | m.list
when a friend asked you to step in to babysit her boss' kids for the night, you thought it would be a one night thing. you'd do her the favor and then she'd owe you one. afterwards though, every time she couldn't show up, she'd call you to go in her place instead. it was really good money and you only had to babysit two kids for a couple of hours.
oh, and to top it all of the kids' mom, ms. zenin, was so hot it was worth it. its not like you saw her for long, only catching a brief glimpse of her when she'd return home all exhausted from work, but you looked forward to those brief moments before she sent you on your way home.
today you had actually been there for far longer than you ever intended. you had a free day from work and school, so when your friend called you about stepping in for her at the zenin's, you jumped at the opportunity for the extra cash. you arrived shortly after noon as the kids had returned home early from a half-day and helped them with their homework.
you started working on some dinner for them when when ms. zenin called again. she had complications at work and would have to stay there until late.
"i'm sorry to ask, but i really need someone to stay with them. i'll pay you double obviously and order some food for all of you on me," she said quickly, her voice evidently overwhelmed with stress.
"already making kaori and seiji some noodles so i'll just make some more and make it dinner," you replied and she simply let out the breathe she felt like she had been holding for hours just happy that you seemed so fine with staying there late.
"thank you, y'n. you don't know how much i appreciate it."
she arrived close to midnight. the kids were long asleep and you had just gotten around to cleaning up some of their mess. you had ended up coloring and building a blanket fort with them before you eventually coaxed them to bed. she left her things by the door before checking on the kids herself them returning to find you warming up a plate of noodles for her.
"thank you so much again, for everything, y/n, really. the last 48 hours have just... they've been a mess," she explained with a sigh.
"i'm glad to help. seiji and kaori are hard to not adore so...," you said with a small smile.
"yeah, their mom liked to joke that they took after her," she said jokingly grabbing a fork and digging in to the noodles, letting out a moan when she took in the delicious taste. "you make a good little cook too."
you blushed slightly at the compliment as she finished her meal. it was always like this between you too: little compliments here and there, lingering stares, accidental touches that didn't feel so accidental. you headed to the bathroom quickly before making your way out. you peaked your head out noting the heavy snow.
"oh, wow, it's snowing," you said out loud which made maki smile. she crossed the room to your side seeing it was snowing just as heavy as when she arrived, the snow starting to build up at the sides of the street.
"yeah. it's been snowing for a couple of hours. it's pretty bad," she commented. you had forgotten it was meant to snow later today. you just didn't plan on being here that long and weren't prepared to make your way home in the snow.
"shit, i forgot it was going to snow," you complained with a sigh.
"do you want me to give you a ride home?," she offered as you swung your bag around your shoulder.
"i don't think you should be driving in this weather," you responded which only made her smile.
"you could just stay here," she said jokingly which made you giggle and flick your eyes up to her.
she moved her eyes away from the snow to meet yours. maki knew it was a terrible idea before she even did it, but she leaned down pressing her lips to yours, unable to resist your doe eyed expression. you moaned into her lips letting her tongue into your mouth before dropping your purse on the floor again and wrapping your arms around her neck.
she easily scooped you up in her arms returning your kiss and helping you wrap your legs around her waist. she then took you both to her bedroom, dropping you on her king-sized bed and caging you between her arms before crashing her lips against yours softly rubbing her knee against your core as you continued making out.
"ma-maki," you gasped as she bit on your bottom lip. "need you."
she smiled at your pleas sitting back to take a brief look at you laying on your back with your legs spread for her. who would wear such a short skirt in this cold? she ran her fingers along the outline of your white stockings which rested on your plump thighs.
"maki, please..." you practically begged arching your back slightly off the bed needing to feel her touch you.
she finally obliged, pinching the zipper of your skirt and pulling it down before tugging the skirt down your body stopping to look at your lacy thong. she should have known you were going to have white lace on.
"don't think i didn't notice that you're skirts get shorter every time you come here," she pointed out before pressing a quick slap to your clothed pussy. "been begging to be destroyed, haven't you, baby?," she asked rubbing your clit over your underwear leaving you a moaning mess. her words alone had you moaning, and the way she was touching was already driving you insane. "answer me when i talk to you, angel."
"yes, maki. i need you please," you begged against her lips also rubbing yourself against her fingers. "i need to feel you inside me please."
"don't get so excited already, baby," she chuckled slightly at your response moving her hands up to your hips. "let's get you out of these."
she slipped your soaked underwear down your thighs before pressing soft kisses on your thighs making her way to you inner thigh, kissing and bitting the tender skin as you squirmed at her touch. she held your hips down as she finally ran her tongue up and down your slit slowly coaxing your soft folds open. you moaned loudly, your back arching off the bed at the feeling of her finally touching you so intimately, proceeding to suck on your clit.
"ma-maki...," you moaned digging your fingers into her hair pulling her closer to your core.
"if you keep moaning like that sweetheart, im gonna lose it," she praised you before digging back in to suck on your bundle of nerves swiping the bud in her tongue back and fourth before switching to draw figure eights. "don't hear you moaning so much now."
she slipped in one of her slender fingers rubbing your soaked walls as she pumped it into your soaked core. your back arch off her bed again, a silent scream emerging from your throat as she pushed you over the edge when she added a second finger, cumming on her fingers harshly.
she lapped up all your juices as you rode her face, extending your high the most she could. her touch was just heavenly, harsh then followed by soft licks almost to sooth your folds after her harsher licks. she climbed out of bed leaving you still buzzing from your orgasm. you knew you shouldn't stay. what if seiji or kaori woke up? how ere you supposed to explain that their babysitter was still there because mommy was fucking her stupid?
the bed dipped below you and you felt maki's fingertips run up your legs and then thighs. you flicked your eyes back open to see she had actually changed as you still recovered from your orgasm. she had unbuttoned the first couple of buttons of her top showing off her collar bones and bra straps. then you flicked your eyes down to be met by the neon strap-on she had tied around her hips.
"thought i was already done with you, angel?," she said with a sly smile as she positioned herself above your body, making you suddenly aware of how much larger she was than you. she palmed and groped your curves in admiration of how addicted she was already. your little moans and sighs, the way your thighs jiggle when she squeezed them, how your tits feel pressed against her chest... all of it came together to have her a groaning and needy mess above you.
she finally rested her cockhead against your folds, pressing just against the entrance which already had you groaning in her lips. she smiled, giving you what you wanted and just pushing her cock inside your pulsating pussy. you screwed your eyes shut at the feeling of her stretch, the pain and pleasure mixing to create a sensation you had never felt.
"i know, baby. i know," she cooed easing in the next centimeters a bit slower before finally bottoming out. you struggled against your own body holding back a scream of pleasure wanting to just scream and let her hear how good she was making you feel, but knowing it could wake up the kids. "doing so well, angel," she praised swallowing your whimpers with her tongue.
she proceeded to pull out her cock to the very tip before slamming it back in, setting a mind numbing pace, just needing to fuck out all her frustrations and you were her outlet. her earth-shattering pace was directly contradicted by her soft kisses, sensually slotting her lips against yours almost swallowing your mouth whole.
"tell me what you need to cum, baby," she whispered against your lips. you just tried your best to put words together, but failed miserably instead tugging on one of her wrists. you led her hand to your neck and she simply smiled.
she pressed on the sides of your throat restricting your windpipe, using her grasp to jam her cock into you leaving you numb on her cock that you couldn't even let out a moan. the pleasure started to build up in the pit of your stomach and you shot your eyes open meeting hers as she continue to ram her cock into you.
"my good little girl. letting me use your body like this," she said so sweetly as she rubbed your sweet spot with her cock. you were a goner the second she nudged your sweet spot and came roughly, gripping on to her as tight as you could as you struggled to control the pleasure coursing through your body. "you're so pretty when you cum." you blushed slightly at her words, unconsciously squeezing your pussy around her cock.
she softly ran her fingers around your collarbones and down to your hips while shifting her lips to your neck. she had just made you cum so hard, but you felt your body reigniting instantly at the feeling of her soft touches on your skin.
"gonna pull out. take a deep breath," she cooed softly before pulling out her cock.
you winced as she slipped out her dildo going to the bathroom for a moment. by the time she came back you had been waiting for her for a while. you reached out for her inviting her back to bed with you.
"didn't think you'd be awake," she climbed back into bed pressing a quick kiss to your lips when you moved your hands to her ass pushing her up your body. "now, what are you trying to do, baby?"
"you got your frustrations out, but i wanna make you cum now, so sit on my face," you said and she instead pressed a kiss to your lips.
"baby, i'm gonna have to make you my live in nanny, if you keep pulling shit like this," she sighed against your lips before climbing up your body.

I'm Here | Oikawa T.
Tumblr media
A/N: Hey guys! I'm back (hopefully for longer since classes are about to end). Anyways, this one's a bit shorter than usual. I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
"Yahoo! Knock, knock~ Sorry, practice finished later than usual!" Oikawa called out but was only greeted by darkness, "(n/n)-chan?"
The house was still, not a single noise was heard. Oikawa doubted that you would leave without texting him, it was practically tradition to crash at your place every after school. He looked around, stealing a loaf of bread before heading upstairs. Dim lights could be seen from under the closed door as Oikawa turned the knob, inviting himself in as usual.
"Hey, Iwa-chan told me that-- what are you doing typing, er writing, whatever it is you're doing in the dark?!" He bellowed, flicking the light switch on. A hiss escaped your lips as you momentarily closed your eyes to adjust to the lighting.
"Shut up, Tooru. I'm kind of busy at the moment so if you don't mind, I'd like to finish all of this tonight." His eyes glanced over at the stack of papers on your left as your right hand hovered on top of another, gripping on a pencil tightly. Your left hand was typing away as fast as it could.
"What's all these? Haven't you finished the assignment yesterday?"
"Well, yes but, this one's for the student council. I need to file a report and it needs to be passed at midnight." You then gestured towards the paper, a bit crumpled with the many times you wrote the wrong formula, "And this is for Monday's class presentation."
"And these?" He pointed towards the stack of papers.
"That's…" You blinked a couple of times before responding, "I think it's the ones from the council three days ago that I haven't checked yet. Anyways, I'll handle that after I'm done with this."
"How many hours of sleep did you even get?" He asked.
"What? I don't think my sleep schedule has anything to do with this, Tooru." You answered, not taking your eyes off of your work.
"Just tell me." Oikawa insisted, sitting on your bed as he stared at you.
"Fine. Around two or so? I'll give it a three since I've been running on coffee since I woke up." His brows furrowed, worry etched on his face if only you took the time to look at him.
"That's not good, (n/n)-chan. Come on, I'll finish that." You shook your head, still not lifting your gaze away.
"No way, you had practice just minutes ago! I'm perfectly capable of finishing these within the day if you just so let me. Now shush-- hey!"
"I mean it, (y/n)." You huffed as you glared at him, "You need your sleep. I'll wake you up before dinner."
"What? No! I can't, Tooru!" You protested, standing up from your seat as you felt a slight pain from your head. You shook it off as nothing, "Tachibana-sensei's breathing down my neck saying she'd be the reason why I wouldn't be graduating this year."
"You still have a day to go before classes start again on Monday. You don't need to rush everything today--"
"Haven't you been listening? The report is due tonight. These," You gestured towards the stack of papers, "Might as well be due at the same time. And after this one, I've also got to revise my notes. I'm falling behind, Tooru and I don't want to hear anything from my mother once I move back."
"You won't (y/n), trust me. You're the smartest girl I know in school and probably the busiest one. I'm sure she'd be proud of you--"
"You see, that's not enough. I need to get my grades up, a bit higher than now." You countered. You retorted, huffing in annoyance at how the setter wouldn’t leave you all alone.
"You don't need to. What you need is to calm down a bit. You know that--"
"Will you stop it, Tooru!? You just don't get it, do you?! My parents thought that I would get into Shiratorizawa and what did I do? Fail the exam!" You bellowed, standing up from your seat as the male stepped back a bit. You stood up, voice raised as Oikawa stepped back, "My mom wanted me to at least be at the top during my first and second year, to at least in her words, redeem myself. But I failed on that too. Now, you're telling me to calm down? To take a break? Well, I can't. I've got my family's voices screaming at me saying I should do better! Do you know how--"
"You're crying, (y/n)..." Oikawa whispered as he placed a hand on your cheek, his thumb wiping away the tears. You lightly pushed him back, rubbing your way with your sleeves. He pointed out. A hand lay on your cheek as his thumb wiped away a tear, you pushed him away after, wiping it away with your hands.
"S-shut up. I'm not crying. Just… leave me alone for today, Tooru. I'm really busy and I can't afford to let all of my hard work turn to dust."
"I'll help you."
"For the last time, I--" He cut you off.
"Just let me help!" He was already frustrated seeing the girl he adored so much struggling with her life.
He knew of her problem with her parents and most importantly, he knew the conflict she had with herself. He knew that feeling more than ever. And he didn't want her to feel the same way he did during that time.
And he was afraid that, while it might not cost her a knee, she might lose so much more if she continues. Perhaps, her eyesight or her health. Worst case, her life. And he wasn't going to let her get to that point.
"If Iwa-chan was here, he'd know what to do… but he isn't. And I don't want to disturb him too. I'm just trying my best to help you, because I understand, I understand you the most out of everyone," He walked closer, enveloping you in a hug as the two of you sat on the floor, "You just want to prove something but, you're all fed up about everything. You're trying your best but I guess, to others, that's not good enough."
Tears slowly dripped down from your face once again as you buried your head on his chest, gripping on his jacket, "Why can't you leave me alone, Tooru? I don't care if you get me… I just want to be left alone."
"I'm staying, (y/n) and that's final. I'm not going to let you carry that burden all by yourself anymore. I'm here, remember? I'll help you," Oikawa whispered in your ear as he caressed your back, "You're, besides Iwaizumi, the one I treasure the most. I care about you and I don't want you to suffer like this when I know that I could have tried and saved you from it."
"Why?" That one question made him silent for a while as you looked up at him.
"I… it's because…" He sighed, making you somewhat dread and anticipate the answer at the same time, "I love you, you know that? And while this might possibly be-- ah, who am I kidding? It's the worst time possible to tell you this, I don't think that I'll be able to get another chance like this."
"T-Tooru… I…" You started but went silent as he brought his hand up.
"Please hear me out?" He inhaled before opening his mouth again to speak, "I… I want to support you (y/n), the same way you and Iwaizumi did all these years, especially during the time when I overworked my knee. The two of you were always there. So, let me be there for you too."
"It's just not easy when you've been doing everything yourself for most of your life…" You gulped, avoiding his gaze as you clenched your fists tightly.
"I know. But, I really do love you. And I promise that you'll never regret choosing me unlike how I regret eyeing up girls when I knew that you were right in front of me the whole time and they'll never be you. They'll never be as hardworking, caring and overly kind as you. You're perfect and so much more. Because everything means nothing to me if I can have you to call as mine." Oikawa said, moving a strand of your hair away from your face.
"Even the nationals?" You asked, teasing him a bit.
"I… okay, maybe not the nationals. I still want to beat Ushiwaka and all. But that's besides the point," He shook his head, placing his chin on top of your head, "You're amazing and beautiful, even when you think you're not. And I'm really sorry for confessing at the worst time possible. But, believe me when I say that I love you."
"Why are you… confessing now?" Somehow, this question made him think. It's not like he hadn't practiced his answer in the mirror for a million times, making sure it was perfect to his ears. Not at all. But, given the situation, he'd have to abandon that script and start a new one.
"Well, it just pains me to see you doing the same things I did before, even though your academics and my career as a player are two different things, and I thought that if I manage to successfully tell you how I feel, I could somehow help you carry all of this. Because by that time, I would hopefully be your boyfriend." Oikawa spoke genuinely, moving one of his hands from her back to her head, stroking her hair.
"You don't need to be my boyfriend to help me, you know."
"I know that but you just make it so difficult, argh! Everytime I see you frustrated, I just wanna hug you and kiss you and then take over your work while you rest. But I can't do that as a friend! So… so..." Not that he thought about it, what he said sounded stupid, "Yeah, I know. It's a dumb excuse."
"You're an idiot." The third year laughed out loud.
"I know, Iwa tells me that all the time." You lightly hit his shoulder, hiding the smile that was threatening to show, "At least I made you smile right?"
"I guess you did, Tooru. I guess you did." He hummed in satisfaction before something else you couldn't quite figure out what was etched on his face.
"I'm not going to force you to answer my feelings right away, (y/n)-chan. I can wait." He stammered.
"Why wait when I feel the same way? I love you too, Tooru." He perked up suddenly, making you hide the massive blush on your face.
"Wait, really? You're not joking right? (y/n)?" The setter found you fast asleep, whether or not you were faking it, he wouldn't know. He only chuckled, kissing your head, "Alright… I'll let you get some rest. You deserve it."
He carried you over to your bed, tucking you in. His hand lingered on your cheek, a smile on his face as he whispered.
"Dream of me will you, (y/n)-chan?" Oikawa stood up straight, eyes darting towards your mess of a desk, "Now… which one did she say she needed by midnight?"

Let me hold your hand and carry the same burden you hold. I'll always be here, even if you push me away.

i am your ally || tsukishima kei.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing; tsukishima kei x f! reader
genre: oneshot, drama, flangst, a little comedy
word count: 5.6k
details: 3rd year Tsukishima, artist reader
warnings: reader going missing, verbal abuse, crushing of dreams, lots of sadness, heavy parental argument, everything that happens here hits home
synopsis: tsukishima didnt know what is the right thing to say after he heard of (y/n)’s situation, but the words that stumbled out from his mouth were a surprise, yet it blossomed to a meaningful talk that happens once in a blue moon.
(a/n): wrote in the middle of my depressing days to find a little comfort from this character that I love with all my heart. inspired by true situations irl; if you, my friend, is feeling down today, i hope reading this work of mine can help. i might make this into a full story if this got enough attention tho.
Tumblr media
(Y/N) was nowhere to be found.
It wasn't Tsukishima's habit to eavesdrop on other people's conversation, but he couldn't help but listen when he heard her name from her classmates. She was a consistent top student that will never neglect her studies, so it was unusual to know that she was absent today. He thought that maybe she got sick or she decided to go crazy and skip school. If it was the latter, he hoped that she knows what she's doing, because midterms are coming in 3 days, and he's not going to listen to her whines and begs to help her study for the tests.
And now he just happened to overhear that she was missing.
He saw her parents walk out of the campus after talking to the vice-principal and to the teachers. Gossip filled the corridors and rooms. Tsukishima went back to his room, clearly annoyed with the unnecessary noise.
He listened to the lectures of each subject and continued to write down important points, but the thought of (Y/N) lingered in his head. What could've happened that led to her disappearance? Was she kidnapped? No, he just walked her home last night and she'll never leave her place past midnight. Kidnappers won't dare to make a move in daylight because of the town's high authority visibility. There's no way she'll be lost in an area she's very familiar with.
She ran away from home. That is the only logical possibility he could come up with, but he couldn't think of an idea as to why. (Y/N), who loves to be cooped up in her room with music blaring in her earphones while drawing, left her home without a trace. Tsukishima was a little worried, but he won't let his face show whatever the hell he's feeling.
His plays and blocks aren't exactly bad, but Yamaguchi could sense that Tsukishima was thinking of something other than the volleyball practice. He approached his friend who was resting on the floor, his long arms covering his curled up legs.
"Tsukki, what's with that expression? Did you get a failing score in a quiz?" Yamaguchi started, in an attempt to lighten up the atmosphere.
The blonde's eyes darted to him, "Like hell, I'm going to let that happen. What do you want?"
He shrugged, "Nothing, I just noticed that you were a little quieter and more passive today. Normally, you would've chewed the first years out with their simple blocking errors, but you didn't say a thing. You're scarier in their eyes when you're silent."
"I was tired. I'll only waste my voice pointing out something I did a million times." A sigh escaped his lips
"Right..." Yamaguchi paused, "So, I assume you have heard?"
"Heard of what?"
"That (Y/N) is missing."
"Oh," A frown fell on his features. It wasn't his usual frown. People who really know him would notice that his eyes are full of worry.
He sat beside Tsukishima before he spoke again. "I know you have ideas on places (Y/N) could've gone to."
"I do not know what you're talking about."
The latter chuckled, "Oh, humor me, Tsukki. If you're that worried, I can excuse you for today's practice. No problem."
"Does that mean that you aren't concerned?"
"I am concerned. I want to look for her as well, but I have to whip the other players into shape. I'm sorry if I couldn't accompany you right away."
Tsukishima stood up and sighed again, "You will excuse me, you said?"
"Yeah."
There were silence and the background noise of balls and shoes colliding on the floor. He wiped the sweat off his face before replying, "I'll be leaving the gym in a few minutes."
He changed his clothes and packed his things up, causing the team to exchange glances.
"Tsukki!" Yamaguchi called, throwing his friend's large jacket to him, which the other caught. "Take care! I hope you find (Y/N) and get her home safe."
"I wish. Then, I'll leave it to you, Captain."
The green-haired middle blocker's eyes teared up and sparkled as he beamed a smile back, "I got it!"
Tsukishima started to look for (Y/N) at the places she liked to go to; the art store, the Central Park, the kid's playground, the museum, and the prefectural library. But there was no sign of her anywhere. He looked at the nearby places to no avail. He walked on while dialing her number, but her phone is out of coverage area. He spent 3 more hours finding the girl and soon received a message from Yamaguchi, telling him that (Y/N) hasn't been found yet and that he joined the authorities to help them find her.
He walked back to the direction of his home, panting softly. He had failed to find (Y/N), yet his brain won't stop thinking about her possible whereabouts. The cool breeze of winter hit Tsukishima's face and shivered at the contact. He had hoped again that she is inside of an establishment, safe from such cold weather.
Tsukishima's home has its lights out. Her mother was invited into her colleagues' reunion as said in her text, and both his father and brother are busy at work. He reached for his key in his pocket and was opening the door, not until he heard a loud sob from somewhere. Tsukishima looked around the place as the sobbing continued. He searched for the source and ended up in their backyard. He caught the sight of a small figure behind the bushes and went closer to confirm.
It was a cat. It had scurried away once he got close to it. Oh, how stupid he is to get his hopes up only to find a scared animal. But he was certain he heard a sob somewhere near. And cats aren't capable of making a sound like that. Or maybe he was only hearing things?
He dragged his feet to the main door to unlock it, but this time, there was a loud noise of scrubbing on the roof. What is it this time? He moved back and looked upon where it came from.
To his surprise, it wasn't another cat but a person. Their legs were curled up, arms covered around them, with their chin on their knees. Tsukishima turned on his phone's flashlight and there she was.
It was (Y/N). Her shoulders shook, either from the cold or trying her best not to cry out loud.
"H-Help me."
He stared at the girl, confused and fighting back laughter because of how scared (Y/N) looked. "How the heck did you get in there?"
"I climbed that tree and jumped off to break in and hide in your room. Turned out that the windows are locked. I don't know how to jump back and I-I was too high from the ground. You know I'm scared of heights! Why did you lock the window?! Stupid!"
"Of course, I would lock the window for the security. And wow, aren't you the stupid one for knowing how to climb and jump up to my window and not knowing how to get down? Why did you climb if you are scared of heights? Such an idiot."
"Fine, fine. I am an idiot. Now, can you help me get off this roof?"
He crossed his arms and smirked, "No."
"Ugh! Please, Kei. I've been trapped here for hours. I am begging you to help me get down. Please?"
He sighed in defeat and raised his arms. "Here. Jump."
For seconds, (Y/N) didn't respond as she was having second thoughts about jumping.
"What? Do you expect me to get a ladder? I'm sorry, but it's in the basement, broken." He said in a mocking tone. "Don't you want to come down?"
"Can you catch me properly? Are your arms stable? Won't you fall on your ass?" (Y/N) interrogated.
Tsukishima rolled his eyes, "Alright, stay there and freeze to death."
"No, wait! I was just asking! Come back! Don't leave meeee!"
The blonde looked up to her and raised his arms again, "Don't think. Trust me, I will catch you properly and you won't crash to the ground. You weigh like nothing anyway."
"Are you talking about yourself?" She retorted, pertaining to his weight.
"Can you please just jump?"
(Y/N) inhaled and went to the edge of the roof. It was a scary view for her, just looking down makes her dizzy, and want to throw up.  She thought he would have the largest frown on his face because of how irritatingly slow she was, but there was Tsukishima waiting for her with the calmest expression. She smiled a little.
"Here I go..."
She took off, closing her eyes, and swallowing her fears. The gravity pulled her feet down shortly after, and Tsukishima readied himself for the impact as he reached her waist. He held on to her lower torso while (Y/N) placed her arms around his shoulders tightly and legs on his waist. The athlete's balance slightly went off, so he took a step back to support both their weights. It was now steady.
"I'm surprised you didn't lose your balance. Where's the weak boned beanpole 3 years ago?"
"I did for a second."
"Doesn't matter. You caught me. Thank you."
They had stayed in that way for a moment until Tsukishima spoke, "Do you plan to get off?"
"No. I'm tired."
"I am too." Yet she refused to let go.
He exhaled, carrying (Y/N) to the main entrance and finally unlocking the door. Her hoodie was cold and some parts are wet, but it didn't rain on that day. He took her in and placed her on the couch. Tsukishima went to his room, changed clothes, and brought a spare sweatshirt, handkerchief, and a towel. He went down but didn't find (Y/N) where he left her, so he walked to the kitchen counter and found the girl on the corner, shivering like a pup.
He tossed the clothing at her without further words. There was a note from her mom beside the curry in the table, saying she had eaten and she left rolls in the refrigerator. He was about to turn on the stove to reheat the food his mother left, but his eyes landed on (Y/N) who sat quietly, hugging the sweatshirt instead of wearing it. Her hair was disheveled, the sleeves and neck part of her hoodie was damp, her nose was red and her puffy, bloodshot eyes implied that she has been crying for who knows how long. He set the pan down to get her a glass of water.
"Everyone was looking for you." Said Tsukishima.
"No one was really looking for me." (Y/N) replied, clearing her nose.
"I didn't spend the last 3 hours tiring myself to scan the whole town for no reason." He sat beside her, handing the glass. "Care to spill the tea?"
(Y/N) drank first before speaking weakly, "I hate them. So much."
The male remained quiet, waiting for her to continue her dilemma.
"Remember when I told you and the class that I will be the most successful doctor in Japan after I finished my studies? It was a lie. It wasn't my dream to stay in a hospital and treat ill people, I only wanted to draw and paint. I didn't care if it never made them or anyone happy, I am happy doing it. And they are taking it away from me."
He knew from the start that her dream job as a doctor wasn't true. For years she stayed close to him as a friend or more, she won't blabber anything of the medical topic. She was terrified of syringes. He saw her reading an article about surgeries and like, but her focus was easily taken away.
She will get a pencil then start scribbling and drawing. Something that Tsukishima always sees her doing whenever she has a pen and paper, but she insists that it was a mere hobby. Her notebooks are well designed and organized, but the back is always full of artistic doodles instead of algebra solutions. She only has very few art materials yet she can make a portrait with only her fingers to shade. She makes digital art without a stylus. She would drag him to the museum after class to view some western and eastern paintings or any work of art while he admires the dinosaur fossils. For times she's watching an art tutorial and talk about art, draw and paint, she has those stupid sparkles in her eyes and a huge smile on her face.
"You know Tsukishima, after I finish studying and became a doctor, I'll become an artist and if the time let's it, I'll open my own art gallery. That's my ultimate dream." She looked alive and delighted.
Very much the opposite of what she looks like right now.
Even though she was a slave of art, as Tsukishima was a slave of his own interests, (Y/N) prioritized her studies so much. He understood why when he went to her house and met her parents before their study sessions. He had noticed everything but chose to stay quiet.
"I-I was drawing last night. Dad entered my room but I didn't notice so he ripped the music away from my ears and yelled. He said that I would always lock myself in my room and draw every night. It was never-ending and irritates the shit out of him. He asked why would I do something so useless that isn't even connected to any academic subject. He was looking down on my art like he was looking at a piece of crap. He told me to stop and threatened me if I didn't. Why would I get punished for drawing? I couldn't get myself to stay silent so I retorted. If he doesn't want to see me drawing, then he shouldn't enter my room at all. He should stop meddling with my hobbies. His anger only went up."
(Y/N) stopped for a while to wipe her tears and snot with her sleeves but Tsukishima placed a handkerchief on her hands. She muttered her thanks and blew her nose and soon followed with a sneeze.
"Soon, it became a full-blown argument. He said that he was checking out if I was doing my projects, but oh he was so disappointed only to find his daughter drawing for nothing. What the heck? I gave them the best grades I could get, and part of it was because of you, Tsukishima, but they still aren't satisfied? I balanced drawing and academics, but they made it seem that all I was doing was my hobby, completely ignoring my efforts at school. I finished the school activities and I reviewed for midterms and all I want is to be left alone and draw. What, they want me to go crazy by studying every hour with things I won't even apply in real life?"
Her fake laughter echoed in the kitchen for seconds before her depressed tone took over again.
"Mom heard all the shouting and joined the argument. Of course, she sided with dad without listening to my feelings and there they ridiculed their youngest child's interests and talent. They told me that everything I do is bullshit and wrong, that I was useless, that I was the huge opposite of their expectations, and... and how come God gave them a joke. She said they raised me so that I could help them, not to do such useless things. It hurts to shout back but I did to explain why I'm so passionate about art in hopes that they will listen and understand but, I was so wrong. I was suddenly slapped..." She placed her hand to her left cheek, her lips quivered a little.
"I-It stung so much. Mom complained about how the Internet generation is so rebellious and won't listen to the elders. They didn't raise and teach me to talk back at them, but here is their child being a bitch. They started comparing me to my elder siblings or relatives who focused on their studies and who are at the door of success. I know they only want me to achieve the best, but my success isn't up to them! It's on me!! And I've invested a lot for that! They shouted at me as mom pulled my hair. It was so loud I thought I was going deaf. Dad blamed the gadget's influence and my drawings. I have only drawn decent fanarts of fictional characters, people, and sceneries, but they believed that because of these, I turned into a mannerless bastard. So mom decided to get my phone and lessen my allowance so that I wouldn't buy any art materials that are a waste of fortune--"
She bit her lower lip that is trembling uncontrollably and her eyesight blurred as her fat tears got in the way.
"and... D-Dad... he... he... he tore m-my sketch pad apart..."
Tsukishima's eyes widened. (Y/N) brought that thing with her almost everywhere she went and it was filled with good drawings and art plans. She has a lot of them though, but Tsukishima could only imagine how she felt when her efforts were trampled over by someone important to her.
(Y/N) broke down, bawled her eyes out, and shrieked hysterically. He looked at her with a heavy heart. He had seen her crying sometimes, be it because of a sad movie or empathy, but never like this. A depressed, emotional wreck. Her eyes were sore enough after a lot of hours, but she won't stop crying. It was heartbreaking to see and hear his significant other in this state, yet Tsukishima didn't know what is the right thing to say.
But maybe there was no need to say anything at all.
Kei wrapped his arms around her weeping figure and pulled her towards him. Cry it out, pipsqueak. (Y/N) didn't expect this action, nonetheless cried in his shoulder He didn't care anymore if this meant he gets his clothes drenched in her snot and tears as long as she felt a little less lonely. He rubbed her back and hair in an attempt to comfort his lover. (Y/N)'s airways hurt, but she screamed the pain out, in hopes that the pain in her heart would vanish. Her weeping went on for long minutes until she choked in her own sobs that Tsukishima had to get her another glass of water.
"Tell me, Kei." She began, wiping her eyes, "Is there... something wrong with me? Is my dream really that insignificant?"
"There's nothing wrong with you. You followed your ideals. Anyone including me would've done the same." He answered beside her.
"I-It's realistic, right?"
"It is."
"Then... why did it turn out like this?" Her voice was cracking.
Tsukishima looked down, "The society is just very cruel."
"Yeah. It sure is. Such a cruel society to live with."
(Y/N) let out a dejected sigh and leaned on Tsukki's shoulder. "I couldn't look at them without such overwhelming fear and hate anymore. I wonder if... they knew that I was doing this for them. I'd like to make them smile with something I've made myself. Once, I made each of them a portrait. A realistic one made from a pencil. I couldn't afford a material set that can be used to paint realistically, but I tried my best to impress them with a charcoal one. Oh, if only you saw their faces when I gave them the portraits. They returned a half-hearted smile. It wasn't the same kind of joy I see whenever I give them perfect scores on tests. I didn't spend 3 sleepless nights just to see their half happy, half unpleased reaction. I wish they could feel more proud of their daughter who worked hard for them... I wonder if they threw it away as he did on my sketch pad..."
They let silence engulf the atmosphere for a while. (Y/N) had calmed down a little, despite shedding smaller tears from the side of her eyes. Tsukishima held the sweatshirt he gave her earlier to make her wear it on the top of her hoodie to lessen her shivering. He stared at her, while the other gazed down on the floor with dead eyes.
Tsukishima asked, "So, what are you going to do now?"
"What am I going to do now huh..." (Y/N) repeated. "I'll probably... put everything to an end."
"You know I won't let you."
"I'm not talking about my life, silly. I might stop drawing and all. I've lost it."
"Isn't your life and drawing one and the same? And I'm pretty sure you have that immense talent to continue."
"No... Besides, talent isn't a talent if it doesn't make anyone happy."
The blonde mentally scoffed. She just said that it makes her happy in the beginning.
"Oh? Fine, stop doing that one thing you put everything into. What would that girl you received a commission from would feel if she were to hear you though?"
(Y/N) was stunned. She had completely forgotten about the whole commission thing she opened in her social media accounts. Tsukishima accompanied (Y/N) on giving the commissioned charcoal portrait to a girl last 3 weeks ago. It was (Y/N)'s first commission for years she's making art. Someone liked her work for the first time and paid for it, and her client looks very contented and glad. The words she said filled her thoughts with inspiration.
"Wow, this is awesome! I'm so happy!! Thank you for making this, it was exactly what I've pictured on my mind! You're amazing! All the excitement I've bottled up for this day is so worth it," The girl, probably a little older than them paused and admired the painting she received from (Y/N).
"Would you ignore those words she said?"
'Please don't stop drawing, I'll be looking forward to your future works!'
A pang of guilt hit her chest. She wants to pursue art, but there are these shackles and chains on her limbs and around her neck that made it hard for her to move forward. She couldn't breathe. What happened yesterday night was too much. Her parents went overboard.
"B-But—"
A monotone voice interrupted her, "Don't. Never stop striving for something you have been building for years. You might be defeated now, but surely, you will win some time. There's no way you'll stay in the lowest level of the ladder after I saw how hard you worked. You will go to nationals again, and I will continue to support you. I'll cheer for you and stay by your side! So please, do not stop! Let me see those beautiful blocks that you execute in the game once more! And I will watch you reach the top! Doesn't matter how many times, I'll never get weary of watching you do amazing things!"
She was silenced by that statement. She had definitely heard those before, but couldn't quite remember where.
"Does the sentiment seem familiar to you? Those are the same words that came from your mouth when I was planning to quit volleyball after our huge loss to Date Tech last year. I am returning them back to you."
"Huh?" She replied with a meek voice.
"That time, you really did a good job meddling with my decisions. It annoyed me first, but what you had stated held a weight that I couldn't disregard. You gave me the small push I didn't know I needed. In the end, I'd like to pay you back." Tsukishima stated with a far away look in his eyes.
(Y/N) listened with watery eyes. This Tsukishima's side isn't definitely the one she gets to see every day so she couldn't feel anything but the warm, fuzzy feeling that is healing her heart.
"It's probably selfish for me to say this but, don't you dare give up. I didn't stop. No matter how long and hard the game is, no matter how tired and discouraged I get, and no matter how many pessimistic thoughts clouded my head, I didn't stop chasing after a falling ball and thinking of another tactic to counter the enemy. I kept your words with me in court. It was you who told me not to in the first place, and I'm not going to forgive you if you ever dropped everything. I won't let the stupid, starry-eyed (Y/N) die today."
The girl beside her started sobbing. "But you told me once that my drawing are ugly."
"Oh. That. I... kind of remember that. I'm not sorry about what I said because I did it to provoke and rile you up. It was a lie though. As someone who always sees you drawing, I can't call your work ugly at all. Your art is... astounding. You make it look like it's so easy to do. I think you forgot next sentence after I told you that."
"What was the sentence after?"
Tsukishima sighed, "I told you to keep doing it, right?"
The sound of (Y/N) crying engulfed the kitchen, "Oh gosh, why did I forget that... I'm sorry, I'm so idiotic..."
The blonde brought her back to his arms, "Will you stop crying, you've been too hard on yourself today,"
(Y/N) hid her face on his chest, muffling her speech, "c-couldn't help it... my mind is such a mess... I do not know..." She paused, coughing. "It's no use if m-my parents don't acknowledge me..."
"Hundreds, or perhaps thousands of people who follow you on social media account recognize you. People in school recognizes you. I recognize you. I am your ally. Isn't that enough reason for you to get back on your feet? I will support you just like how you supported me. You have a lot of people who admire you, but I only have a few people and you. Yet your words are enough. I'm certain that soon, you will reach your parents' standards and get them to acknowledge you. It's not impossible."
(Y/N) fixed her tear-stained face before looking up to him, "You know what? Who are you? Is a good spirit possessing your body? The Kei I know will either stay quiet or laugh at me for being pathetic."
"I was trying to be nice for once and this is what I get?" He frowned.
(Y/N) chuckled and hugged Tsukishima, "I'm sorry. Everything you said meant the world to me. Thank you very much."
She relaxed against his lean body, "I have a question though..."
"What?"
"You literally had no business in my art, it was my own problem. Why are you doing this?"
"Why don't you ask yourself after you argued with me that night? Why did you have to butt in with my choices?"
"Because you like volleyball! You might look like that someone stole your dinosaur collection when you're at practice, but you're good at it and have a future in it! It is a part of you, and you're deciding to throw it away? Your potential is too big to be wasted and I refuse to let that happen." Her voice is a little louder now, but hoarse.
"There's your answer, little gremlin."
"How is that— Oh."
"But I'd like to add something."
"What is it?"
"You look better doing what you really like. It makes you look less like a hag."
It was silent after that. (Y/N) punched his arm. Tsukishima didn't even wince but asked, "What was that for?"
"The last statement was unnecessary, and the first one is sweet yet cringey." She criticized.
"C'mon, I'm just a teenager. Aren't you the cringey one most of the times?"
She used the handkerchief to sniffle her runny nose away, "Why do you have a knack of returning everything I said to me?"
"I won't do it if it's not appropriate." Tsukishima placed his hands on her back and to her hair, "So, what are you going to do now, (Y/N)?"
"I'll think things through. My brain is still slightly messy, but I'll be fine, thanks to you. But Kei..."
He hummed as a response. "I don't want to go home. I want to run away."
"Not possible. You can't survive on your own. You're almost 18 and until now, you don't understand how a washing machine works with all your perfect scores in exams."
"This is just a thought. I didn't say I'll be alone. I'm taking you with me."
"I refuse."
"Why?"
"Couldn't you wait for more months until we graduate?"
(Y/N)'s eyebrows raised, "So basically, you're agreeing, but not this time?"
"No, but you'll be free of your parents' suffocating control. Who knows how huge is your potential by that time."
"How considerate of you." The girl smiled.
"Only this time. And no, we won't live in the same place in college. Not yet. Not until we finish our studies, have secured jobs, and get important things done."
"Will you be playing volleyball at college?"
He lazily replied, "Probably."
"Don't give me such an ambiguous answer!"
"Probably yes."
"Hmm. Fine by me. I'll continue to draw, then." (Y/N) rested her head near Tsukishima's neck.
He smiled a little at her answer, "Another thing though. I don't think... you should leave things with your parents like that. There'll be a time where you have to face it."
"Yes, that sucks... I don't want to think about it but I'll have to go back eventually... When that confrontation happens, I'll try to calmly talk it out with them. I will never be certain if it will end well. But my hate and fear of them won't change."
"You can always run back here if it didn't end well."
"Kei, don't want to see their faces just yet. Can I stay here for a while?"
"You even bother to ask. You are welcome anytime in this household. Just enter the house in the front door, not in my window."
"Right... thank you."
"Oh, now it's my turn to ask. How did you get in there?"
(Y/N) sighed, "It was on 4:30pm. I was on the loose and I looked for a store where anyone can't recognize me so I can eat for lunch. But there's this creep who kept on following me—"
"Did he hurt you?" He abruptly questioned.
"No. I ran as fast as I could before he could even get close to me, but in the next block, there were the town authorities with my mom, and I knew they were looking for me, so I blended into the people with my hoodie on and made my way. I climbed the tree in panic that they'll find me and hid there. It took me hours to notice that your house is just next to it, so I decided to climb to your window. However, the window was locked, and I was stuck."
Tsukishima sighed in relief. "It was a miracle that a klutz like you didn't fell off the tree and surprisingly, no one found you."
"I was high in adrenaline when I climbed the tree. My blending and hiding skills are in ninja-tier now, I beat you."
"Whatever. What did you have for breakfast?"
"...a melon bread."
"Just that?"
"Just that."
Tsukishima kissed her forehead before lifting her up with him. "Go change. Borrow any of my clothes. I'll reheat the food."
(Y/N) kissed his cheek, slowly got off him and went upstairs. Tsukishima opened his phone to text Yamaguchi about her situation and proceeded to reheat the spicy curry.
"Wait, Kei! Is it okay for me to eat?" She shouted from upstairs.
"What kind of question is that? Of course you can." He shouted back.
"Your mom left that for you, for your dad and for your brother. I'd feel bad."
"My brother and dad will come home late and I'm sure they've eaten already. So is mom."
"Are you sure? I can replace the food." She said while going down the stairs.
"Oh, you can cook? I'm afraid you'll burn the whole kitchen." He mocked.
"At least not the whole house." (Y/N) laughed, "Just kidding, I have a tiny knowledge in cooking."
"You don't have to, I told you they already ate. I'll bring out the sushi mom made if you still want to eat."
"Alright. Thank you for the food."
Few hours later, Tsukishima's mom came home and took off her shoes. "I'm home."
As she was about to enter the living room, Akiteru greeted her and placed his finger in front of his lips, indicating her to keep quiet. She wondered what was going on and saw her youngest son and his girlfriend leaning on his shoulder, asleep on the couch in front of the TV. He signaled her to read the note Kei left on the table.
To mom, dad, and brother,
Earlier in the morning, (Y/N) went missing and her parents and town authorities were looking for her. I found her on the way home, but it turns out that she ran away from her home because of an intense argument between her parents, and doesn't want to be found yet. Please let her stay here for a while. I'll do most of the household chores or any favor you ask me in return.
Mom, I shared the curry and sushi rolls with her. I left for some for dad and brother. (Y/N) said it was very delicious.
Love,
Kei.
She smiled after reading the note and looked at the sleeping kids. She took notice of (Y/N)'s eyes and quickly understood the situation. Before she left to rest in her room, she looked for a spare blanket and laid it atop them to keep them warm.
(Y/N) snuggled further to Tsukishima's arms, satisfied on how this night will end well, unlike yesterday's.

Saw your requests were open! I too love Fatgum so maybe an +18 plus scenario with some angst? Like maybe you were good friends but now both are stuck in limbo after sleeping with each other one night. Confused about what they are. Sorry if I'm not making sense.
Stuck In between
Pairing: Taishiro Toyomitsu x Reader

On a serious note I decided I don't know how to wrote angst or if this counts as angst lmao.

It was a spur of the moment decision, at least that's what you kept telling yourself. You were drunk, and let your lust get the better of you and now you didn't know what to do.
You shouldn't have let Midnight convince you to go, you shouldn't have taken the wine glass offered to you. It was all just some big mistake that you made, and it landed you where you are now.
You haven't left your house in a week and you certainly havent been checking any messages on your phone. Luckily you could work from home, but you couldnt hide forever.
"God, I'm so stupid!" Slamming your head on your desk with a groan, tears forming in your eyes as you choke out a sob.
No matter how hard you tried it kept replaying in your head. The way his eyes seemed to drink you up, his hands caressing every inch of your body, the way he filled you up hitting the spots that made you forget your name.
Part of you didn't regret it at all, getting out all of the lust filled emotions was such a nice release to something you've been holding onto for god knows how long.
Yet, you couldnt look back on the memory in a fond light. Because in the end, you said I love you. You said I love you to your bestfriend, and now you couldn't even talk to him.
He'd called you at least 15 times a day since then, over 200 messages being left unread. You just had to go and be selfish, didn't you? Ruin the one good thing you had in your life.
You wondered how he was doing, not that you'd ask. But at the same time, you were his bestfriend and you confessed your love to him in a drunken haze and haven't spoken to him since.
All the ways you could've confessed, you had to go and do it when you were drunk out of your mind and being pounded into a mattress. Going back to work at the agency would be a nightmare now.
One week left until you actually had to go back to the agency. Meaning one week to figure out how to avoid Taishiro for the rest of your life. Did you want to avoid him? No, but you'd rather avoid him than own up to your own emotions.
Picking your head up off the desk you decide to actually do something productive for once. You needed groceries anyways and right now was the perfect time to do so, considering Taishiro would be patrolling the other side of town.
You quickly freshen up and head out the door, the grocery store being only a few blocks away so you could manage walking there and back.
It was a short walk, being about 15 minutes give or take a few. Now that you were scanning shelves you realized how long it had really been since you've seen, well, another human.
It almost made you laugh, how seeing really people made you feel better about the situation your in. Sucking in your cheeks you put a small case of banana milk into your cart.
Taishiro didn't really care for it, but it was almost a comfort item for you. He always said it just tasted like a banana, and it'd cost less to buy regular bananas instead. Though you'd disagree everytime he brought it up.
Sure, it tasted like bananas, but it is banana milk so whatever. Plus it came in cute boxes with a straw and who were you to deny something that looked so cute.
Making it to checkout, you place your items on the counter. Allowing the cashier to do their job while you let your eyes wander around the store.
It wasn't big, but it had a comforting feel. Maybe it was because you'd been feeling down, or maybe it was the way you'd been here so many times that the familiarity was comforting to you.
Never the less you give a small smile to the cashier, finishing the rest of your items as you pay. Fishing the bags into your arms as you start the short journey back to your home.
"Need help carrying those bags?" The voice made you freeze in place. There was no way this was happening, he wasn't supposed to be here. He was on duty, right?
"Listen we need to talk, you can't keep ignoring me."
"I don't wanna talk right now, aren't you on duty anyway? I have to go put these away." You start walking off, hurrying to get away.
"I'm a hero, I help people in need. You aren't feeling like yourself which means it's my place to help. Is it not?"
"I said I don't want to talk, I said something I didn't mean, and I have to face the consequences for that. Okay?"
"So you don't love me?" You swear you could hear the hurt in his voice, but you told yourself you were hearing things. You can't ruin this anymore than you already have.
You can't bring yourself to respond, quickening your pace as your eyes fill with tears. Trying to blink them away only causing them to slide down your face. Not that you bother to wipe them because you know Taishiro is still watching you walk away.
He doesn't like you like that, he's a pro hero, you're just an office lady. That's what you have to remember. Whatever you thought you had, was just you trying to convince yourself that something could happen.
It didn't matter if you wanted to run into his arms, nothing would change. You'd be the hopeless romantic who had feelings for a hero who didn't have time to waste on a relationship.
"Y/n wait! Stop walking so fast I can't keep up!" Taishiro's voiced filled through your ears, your heart melting at the sound. But for once, your head was in control. Head over heart, that's what your mom always said.
"Go away 'shiro." It came out more broken than you wanted it to and you knew he could see right through you as much as you wanted to hide away from your feelings your feet plant themselves no longer letting you move further.
Two arms wrapping around your waist in the tightest hug you've ever experienced. Stealing the air from your lungs as a small whine of pain escapes your lips.
"Y/n, listen to me. You can't keep avoiding me. I've been worried sick about you, can't you tell? I thought I was dreaming when you told me you loved me but just as soon as that happened you dissapeared. Please Y/n talk to me."
You shook your head more tears streaming down your cheeks as you tried to speak without sounding like you were dying. Though it felt like you were.
"You don't love me 'shiro, I gotta get over you but whenever you're near me it makes it so hard. No matter how hard I try I keep falling harder."
"Who said I don't love you? Angelcake, you never asked me if I loved you. Look at you, what is there not to love about you? When you said you loved me I'd never been more happy in my entire life. So please, stop running away from me, I hate not being with you."
"'shiro..."
"Shh, let's get you home, I wanna show you how much I love you."
Arriving at your house, you force the key into the door as quick as you can manage. Taishiro taking notice to how desperate you were to enter.
Pushing the door open you realize how messy your house was, an awkward smile spreading across your face as you let him in. "Please excuse the mess, it's not usually like this I've just been having a hard time recently."
"As if it's any worse than mine, besides I'm not here to judge you." He grins placing his hand in yours and leading you to your bedroom. Seeing as he'd been here enough to know the lay out of your house.
Just as soon as you were in your room, he was all over you. Kissing you with so much passion you thought you were dreaming by the way he seemed to be bleeding out lust.
Taishiro opted to use his normal form in moments like this, his fat body not working when it came to the more intimate moments. Not that you loved him any less in any form.
You whine into the kiss, your body on fire from the arousal building up within you. Clawing at your close to get them off, desperate to have Taishiro's hands be on your bare skin.
"Someones needy, aren't they?"
"'shiro, please I want you. I've been waiting for this."
He hums, giving you a small nod as his hands sneak up your shirt. Helping you strip out of your clothes before falling suite with his own.
His hands grope your breasts squeezing lightly to get a reaction out of you. Which you give through a small moan. The noise is just enough to get him going though.
Spreading your legs and holding them open with his knees he slides his fingers over your folds, getting a grasp for how wet you were for him.
The more he teased the more you squirmed under him, small begs passing through your lips. Begging for him to hurry up.
"Taishiro, please stop teasing me I cant wait anymore~"
He only smiles in response, placing his cock at your entrance. Having done this just a week ago he was more than ready to plunge into the depth. Slowly thrusting into you allowing you to adjust.
You whine out his name, back slightly arching off the bed in ecstasy. Clenching around him your eyes clouded with list at the sensual yet familiar feeling of him filling you up.
He thrusts harder, finding a sweet rhythmatic pace that made the both of you feel good. Not too fast, but not too slow either. The perfect momentum between the two of you.
Leaning down to kiss you, he finds himself smiling like a little kid, happier than ever to be with you in this moment.
"'m close baby, where do you want my cum?"
"Anywhere, I dont care."
Satisfied with that response he thrusts into you a few more times before pulling out and letting his cum cover your lower abdomen.
"I told you I loved you babe, is that enough to prove it?"
"More than I could have ever asked for."

I lost a dear friend a little while back because we had a falling out. We hadn't been okay for a long time and it just wasn't the same between us anymore. I was really hurt and sad.
But now I'm fucking pissed.
One of the things that bothered me that she kept doing was liking/reblogging posts talking about toxic and abusive friends. And she'd add her own text to them referencing things that we specifically did/saw together, so I knew she was talking about me. But whenever I tried to talk to her about those posts and asked her what was going on so we could work through it, she'd usually say "it's okay- I already talked it out with my mom, I'm good", and say nothing else about it. So then I started doubting myself, thinking I was just being paranoid. If she really did have a problem with me, she'd tell me. I thought I was being arrogant for thinking it had to be about myself when she has friends besides me. But the posts kept coming. And it made me angry. Angry because she kept saying in those posts that our friendship wad one sided, and she'd felt that way for years. That I didn't care about her, or her problems, or the things she was interested in. Funny how she doesn't remember all these years when we'd hang out for hours talking about both our interests or our issues together EQUALLY. She doesn't recall all the stories that we wrote and shared with each other, or all the times I tried to help with her problems (even if the only help I could give was to listen to her), or all the times I said she was like a sister to me and she agreed. Apparently that was all just a figment of my imagination.
And it's frustrating too because she's sitting there acting so high and mighty as though she's done everything in her power to try and fix things between us, and I'm an evil jerk who never cared about her and didn't try at all, but that's not true. Anytime I tried to set up a time with her so we could try talking over the phone (because her schedule fluctuates), it conveniently never worked for her. Anytime I tried to arrange a time for us to meet up to talk in person (with social distancing and masks of course), she didn't feel comfortable with it because of COVID. Which I could totally understand, if she weren't going down to the beach all the time and staying in hotels where she doesn't know the person that stayed in that room before her or how well they cleaned it.
The last time I tried to talk to her about all this (via text, because she has plenty of time of type out a long ass response but not to talk), she said she'd tried to tell me many times how "all the things I've been doing made her feel and nothing had changed". Excuse me???? The few times I did manage to get her to tell me anything, the only thing she really had was the fact that I disappear in a text conversation a lot. I'm sorry, but I have a life OUTSIDE OF YOU!! I work a full time job, cook dinner for my family, clean, have to help around the house, and my my parents aren't in the best health, so they need my help a lot too. There are so many times I've picked up my phone to reply, and I get called away. A lot of the time I get so busy that I completely forgot she texted me and it takes me forever to respond. I'm sorry that I can't stay up chatting until midnight- I have a job I have to wake up early for. I'm scatter brained, I KNOW. But it's not just her that happens with- it's everyone. You can ask anyone who knows me- I am absolute SHIT at replying. But she fucking sits there and says I'm manipulative and toxic- that I don't care about her or her life at because of it. I do care about her, and I always have.
But I'm done bending over backwards. She has this narrative in her head in which I'm the villain and the reason for all of her stress and turmoil. I'm the bridge she has to burn in order to live her best life. If that's what she needs to believe in order to grow, then fine. But I'm not going to sit around and watch her do it- it hurts way too much. She has been blocked on all social media, I've deleted her number from my phone, and anything that reminds me of her (photos, souvenirs from trips, gifts) have all been packed up and put where I don't have to look at them. I'm going to miss this friendship and all the fun times we had together, but I can't say that I miss her. To be honest, I couldn't care less if I ever see her again. I'm too hurt, too angry and too disappointed to want to try again. I'm done.

Brackish and Briny Waters (two)
[Ralph Lamont X Female Reader]
Summary: Settling into your new house Part 1 Masterlist Part 3
Tags: +17 | 1.7k words | just really fucking domestic stuff, one (1) bad attitude, presumptuous behavior, unprotected morning sex, more remodeling.
Tumblr media
AN: I kind of know where I'm going with this. The conflict will be subtle at first but it's there I promise.
The first day goes by fast and for Ralph meeting every single person on staff in this prestigious school was like trying cheeses and wines in a vineyard– fun at first but you get a stomach ache because somebody forgot to tell you not to swallow and there are just so many of them each more rich than the last. By the time he crosses the threshold to his new home, he's exhausted and annoyed.
"I told you not to unpack without me."
You look at him from the kitchen and shrug. "I needed stuff, baby. I already wrote a list of things to work on in this 'bare bones' house you put us up in and I was bored."
You don't care for his attitude but offer him the covered plate anyways. "I saved you some dinner."
All at once, Ralphie's anger melted from his face. He shuffled his tired feet across the still empty living room and pulled you into his side. The plate was warm (still warm or recently warmed up, he couldn't tell) and his stomach growled.
"M sorry," he said, "I don't mean to be an asshole."
You smile your forgiveness. "Long day?"
"Yes," he hisses. "I already can't wait for the weekend."
You chuckle. "Oh come on, it can't be that bad. Give it a chance, baby!"
"As you wish."
After eating, Ralph is right to sleep despite his insistence you finish packing together tonight. A part of you thinks it's the climate here– fresh sea salt air and less artificial light to disrupt the body's natural sleep patterns. You took off his shoes and empty his pockets because he was just 'resting his eyes for a moment,' then slid in right next to him. He's fine without a blanket, but you pull the back of the quilt over your rear and curl into his side. Sleep comes easier tonight than last night and you dream of wallpaper and wood smoke cologne.
DAY THREE
The rest of the week gets easier for the both of you. You arrived on Monday and unpack the bigger furniture together by Wednesday with the help of some locals. Ralph is getting to study the lesson plan for Ms. Lewis' math class and establishing a gentle authority with his temporary students. He is still excited for the weekend, intent to help you figure out what to do with the walls of the house.
"Has anybody come to see you at the house yet?," he asks you Thursday night.
You pause dicing onions to think. "Besides the neighbors to the north and those Vayle boys? No."
Ralphie raises his eyebrows and drops them, an involuntary gesture made more for himself than you.
You put a hand on your hip. "Why?"
Ralphie waves you off and continues mixing the meat with the spices. "Nothing. It's just everybody and their fucking moms has been asking me about you."
"What?" This was news to you. "Why?"
"Because they're nosy," he replies, "asking me about my whole life story and I let slip I had a wife and then they just wouldn't shut up about it."
You swat his shoulder. "Well don't sound so depressed about it. Do you not like having a wife?"
"No!" Ralph huffs and turns to look at you as he says, "I just hate that every single one of them bugs me about a million personal things and then I mention you and it's the only thing they can talk about now."
Ralph turns back to stirring the pan and grumbles to himself, "might tell them to fuck off and just hoard you forever…"
It clicks in your head at least a bit. Ralph's a born and bred city kid. In the city nobody cares who you are, what you like, or where you're from. Strangers don't want to be anything more than strangers. Their eternal social motto is 'don't waste my time' and anyone who acts differently is probably scheming something.
You chuckle and rest your chin on his shoulder. "You're forgetting these are a different breed of people. Rich and educated socialites more over but suburban, maybe even rural. We're probably the first new thing to happen to them in decades, and communities like this don't have a 'mind your business and I'll mind mine' attitude."
Ralphie flicks you a look but you know he knows you're right. It doesn't mean he has to like it but at least he understands it's not malicious, at least not inherently. It's out of his element, a little out of yours too, but you'll have to adapt and play by their rules if you want to stay here for a while.
The dining room table can seat six, but your Ralphie takes a seat right next to you at a corner so he can hold your hand while you eat. Homemade tacos ease your apprehensions a bit and you go over the remodeling plans with him until midnight. Getting ready to sleep, you wear your thinnest shift and wrap around him like an octopus, your warm core brushing over his barely clothed manhood in temptation.
Ralphie hums, tucking a stray hair back into your bonnet. "We need to get up early tomorrow."
It's a weak protest. The two of you keep rocking into each other and sighing at the feeling of friction but eventually fall asleep despite the delightful buzz of sexual energy surrounding you. You do wake up when Ralph flips you under him and sucks a few marks into your neck.
You spread your legs to accommodate his breadth, feeling him settle deliciously and glancing at the bedside clock. It's barely 5 o' clock and the sun is rising. You gasp as you feel Ralphie's cock slide into you and he's met with little resistance. You two have sex for the first time since you moved and it's been so long that the affair is short lived.
Ralph already has an apology on his lips but you shush him and come a moment later with your fingers brushing your clit in tandem. He peppers you with a dozen more kisses as silent promises to make it up to you.
You shower together, barely bumping elbows as this bathroom is way bigger than your New York City apartment ever was. You chat idly about the weekend and the town and when you're ready to leave, you grab the manila folder where you store the plans for the remodel. You've even got samples from the wallpaper, only taking the ones you like and want to replace.
"I know we probably won't find exact replicas but I want to at least find something similar."
Ralph squeezes your thigh. "Ok, ok. We'll try."
While this town doesn't have a McDonald's (the town over does and it's fancy for some reason), it does have a Home Depot (also pretty fancy). You know you'll need wood and screws and glass panes to finish that solar room but that's not the goal for today.
Ralph skips right over the green paint swatch section to the creams. He's rambling about paint brand pros and cons, he did his research on the way in since you were driving and he brought the book from the school library. You follow and half listen.
"What?"
Ralph finally catches on to your soft smile. You glance around to make sure no one is in earshot because god forbid these gossipers over hear your conversation right now.
"I guess I got you pretty excited last night, huh," you say with a sense of pride. Ralph feels the opposite about his performance this morning.
"I just… I think it's just been a while." He occupies his hands by grabbing every single free swatch sample on the shelf and says, "I promise I will make it up to you."
You roll your eyes in a not unkind way. "It's fine, babe, really. I uh… it feels kind of good to know I still have that kind of effect on you…"
Ralphie sports a smile of his own and puts you under his arm. "Of course you do, sugar."
He leans down to plant a kiss on your lips when you're interrupted by a bright voice. It's so startling that your husband bounces away from you. He stares wide eyed at the woman who interrupted you and he gets that dark look in his eye that only you can see.
"Jesus, Julie," he tries his best not to growl her name. "This is Julie, she's a teacher at the school. Julie this… is… my wife."
Julie makes a noise like a whistle. "Oh my god you are so much more beautiful than I imagined! Ralph doesn't have a picture of you in his office!"
"It's on my desk," he huffs, "it's the one turned towards me."
"And why would you do that?"
"...so I can look at it while I work…?"
Julie's… a little too hands on for just meeting you. You're too reserved to say something about it so you sling a loose arm around her back and hope Ralph doesn't say something for you.
"Hi Julie, it's nice to finally meet you," you tell her. "Ralph's been slowly but surely introducing me to the concept of his coworkers."
"I can't believe we haven't met before now! Ralph keeping you all to himself, me and the other teachers are just so curious about you," she coos. It feels almost put on, like overindulging in sweet to play up her first impression. You let it slide though, maybe it's just your city lens.
"Well, uh, once we've got the house fixed up a bit, we can plan a housewarming party," you suggest. "But not a day before and you may quote me on that, miss!"
Julie laughed and gave you her phone number 'in case you need anything at all.' Ralph breathed easy once she finally left and you tug his ear gently. "She's veeerry friendly."
Ralphie shoots you a glare like you'd made a joke he didn't find funny and you go back to debating the paint to use for your walls eagerly.

And because it's new years eve I couldn't not do a drabble, it's been in my mind for some time so enjoy :) Happy new year to everyone 💛✨
Thursday, December 31st, 23:50
Ten minutes, 600 seconds, that was all that separated every single person in Antwerp from 2021. The anticipation was clearly noticable in the air of every single house as the end of 2020 was something alot of people long awaited for and, as the time was getting closer and closer, everything else got thrown to second plan and for the next ten minutes the only thing in everyone's mind would be the countdown to 2021 and the bells of midnight echoing throw the streets announcing the official start of the new year...or at least that's what most people were thinking about but not Robbe.
As he sat in the couch, the only thing in his mind were the messages he was writing to every single person that had helped him get through 2020 and he was typing them fast trying his hardest to actually get them done before the year he was taking about was over. Most people got some general message he thought were, and he didn't really consider himself a genius in writing but still, a cliché and even though every single one was different, they all shared the same ideas, the ideas that Robbe was grateful for the friends he had and this year more then ever showed him that.
Zoë had gotten a special text where Robbe thanked her for hearing him, for sticking around and for caring so much about him. The truth is the she had been like a sister to Robbe over the last years and even though he didn't say it often, he liked to tell her how important she was to him from time to time and Milan had gotten a very similar text but with all the extras of being Robbe's guru and helping him alot over quarantine. Unlike Jens, they actually replied without teasing, via a videocall from the flatshare where the two of them and Senne thanked him and sent him their wishes of a great year ahead.
But the most important message was the one that Robbe hadn't sent yet... The one to Sander. In reality it wasn't really a message, it was more of a speech he was getting ready to say when midnight came around and he was rehearsing it over and over again. Sander was, actually, just a few steps in front of him, talking to Robbe's mother about some random subject that Robbe had lost amidst his focus on the speech.
But as hard as he focused on it, the speech wasn't particularly going well. Robbe would read it, remember it and then look at Sander and all the words would disappear from his mind leaving his it empty. How was he supposed to read it to Sanders face if he forgot it as soon as he looked at him?
Time passed and when Robbe realized, there were only two minutes to midnight. Inside his head he was starting to panick over the fact he knew absolutely nothing and that his special speech wouldn't be so special afterwards and that panick was not going unnoticed to his mother and most definitely not to Sander. Robbe didn't even notice when Sander stopped the conversation with her until his boyfriend sat down next to him and placed his left arm around Robbe's shoulders.
“What are you doing?” he asked with the sweetest voice Robbe had ever heard.
Sanders voice always made Robbe smile, being so calming and soothing, and it always made him feel safe but that was just a thing of Sander, making him feel safe with whatever he did and taking him through a world of thoughts with the slightest gesture. And it was happening again, Robbe was once again getting carried away from reality by the fact he had his boyfriends arms around him and only was brought back to reality when he realized Sander was reading what he had wrote in his phone.
"Why did you hide your phone" Robbe really didn't know what to say, he couldn't lie, even more on this day and time but he also didn't want to ruin what he'd been planning for weeks
"Nothing, just some stuff I was writing"
"And why are you shaking?" Robbe quicky swallowed as Sander's question reached him, he was indeed shaking but he hadn't noticed it before and he really didn't know what to say
"I don't know, probably because I'm so anxious for the new year" he said and he wasn't lying, he was anxious for it to start but he also knew that wasn't the reason he was nervous and Sander knew him well enough to know that aswell
"Robbe, talk to me, what's wrong?" Sanders facial expression had changed, he had lost his smile and was now staring at Robbe with a very distinct look Robbe knew way too well, Sander's worried, you can't make him worried, he thought and the that was the moment he decided to go forward with his plan, as unsure as he was about it.
"Come with me, everything is fine, just come" Sander nodded as Robbe took his hands and led him towards the balcony, towards the outside, to the place he was planning to do the speech. As they were getting there Robbe's mom announced that midnight was now only one minute away and with that, Robbe's heart started beating faster and faster.
This was it, this was the moment he was planning to do for so long and he knew he couldn't mess it up but as he reached the balcony his mind blacked out and he froze. I'm going to disappoint him, this isn't going to go well, Robbe's fears were surfacing and all this while Sander was staring at him with the deepest green eyes Robbe had ever seen.
“Robbe come on, tell me what's wrong” Sander placed his hands on Robbe's shoulders making him unlock eye contact and start looking down. As he did this, Sander shifted his right hand to Robbe's jaw leading Robbe to stare back at him with a shaken look. Sander just slowly nodded while caressing his face inviting him to start talking.
"I'm sorry, I had this whole thing planned, this whole speech to tell you how important you are and how much you mean to me and helped me, a speech that I would say here right now thanking you for being the most special person in my life, someone unmatched in the world, someone that makes me feel happy with the slightest thing, someone that makes me feel loved and appreciated and someone that changed my life to so much better but-" Robbe swallowed, cutting eye contact with Sander once again, looking back at the ground and fiddling slowly with his fingers.
Sander took a step closer to him, squatting in front of him so that his boyfriend could look at him without raising his face.
“Robbe, look at me, please” and after this words Sander got back on his feet and the younger boy slowly looked up at him, a guilty look on his eyes. They could now feel the others breath in each others face in the cold December night, the last December night of 2020, giving a sense of safety and warm to that moment.
"Keep going, please" Sander added, nodding again at Robbe allowing him to resume his way of thought.
Robbe just swallowed once again, took a deep breath and let it out. “I forgot, okay? I can't remember it when I'm looking at you, words just disappear and I get locked to you like I'm in a transe, I'm sorry if I disappointed you but I-" Sander placed his index finger on Robbe's lips inciting him to stop talking and the younger boy complied.
"Robbe, you didn't disappoint me. You just gave me the best speech I've ever gotten, one that's honest, one that you didn't plan, you just said everything you felt and that's the best speech I can ever get, You've made my 2020 so special and you make me feel the most special person in this world because....”
And as this words left Sanders mouth the ambient around them changed, numbers echoing in the background counting towards zero. Five, then four, there, two followed by one and finally reaching zero with the two boys looking deeply into the others eyes.
“... I love you Robin” Sanders eyes were glowing as Robbe's did the same, an expression that can only be described as love stoned on both of them.
“I love you too, more than everything, my love, my light, my Sander”
And as this words left Robbe's mouth, both of them leaned into eachother connecting their lips to the sound of the bells and cheers to the new year in the background, their face lit up by the fireworks lighting up the night sky as they shared a deep kiss, the first one of 2021, the first of alot of them, on this new year in their lifes with each other.
Short minutes passed, Robbe and Sander connected by a kiss that seemed to have no end until Sander finally broke it. The smile they both shared as they stepped away from the other carried more emotions than words could ever describe and that was all they needed right there, no words, only them alone, in their moment but still there was something none of the could go without telling.
“You are the best thing that ever happened to me” Sander said softly brushing his fingers through Robbe's face making his smile widen even larger with the words he was hearing.
“I don't know what I'd do without you Sander, you make my life make sense” and as this words left Robbe's lips, Sander just smiled back blinking at his boyfriend letting him know that everything he said was mutual.
And there they stood, watching the firework show, on the first day of a new year in their lifes. Robbe appreciating all the different colours that lit up the sky and Sander appreciating how the colours of the fireworks lit up Robbe's face making him look more like a dream that an actual reality.

Conversation
RP meme from Scream Queens Ep 5 "Pumpkin Patch" (Note: Offensive content, use at own discretion)
The theme was "Let Them Eat Cake," so my dad bought me this foreclosed McMansion down the street, and, like, 500 of my closest friends came dressed in 18th century attire, and, oh, the pool was filled with this, like, caviar slurry. And then at midnight, we just burnt the house down. When the firefighters came, they were actually strippers, and they put out the fire with champagne.
So walk me through this, honey.
Well, as you can see, every pumpkin in the patch is artisanal.
Then we move past the ice sculptures of demonic peeing cherubs, and yes, they will all be peeing vodka and Red Bull.
I'm sorry. Corn maze?
It's just that doing an exact replica maze from The Shining would have taken us way over budget on man power alone.
I told you money was no object.
Well, apparently, one of them died or something.
Do you have any idea what's at stake here?
Okay, well, it's not my fault that some guy died in the '70s.
I am tired of your sad-sack, I'm-a-total-downer-all-the-time schtick.
I'm over it!
Oh, my God, why are you so depressed?
Why do I have to be the homely one?
Just a second, nutbag.
God, do I have to spell it out for you?
You're a weird, psycho lunatic who's gonna end up in an asylum somewhere, staring at a wall, trying to nurse a watering can.
That's it! I can't take this anymore!
That is such a Mary Todd Lincoln thing to say.
You scream "I'm done with you" kind of a lot, and yet you're still standing here.
I think you know you have a good thing going.
You get to bask in my starlight as I do all the work and you get to grumble behind my back about how disrespected you are.
There's the door.
There's the door, bitch!
You did not deserve to be spoken to like that. Ever.
That is bollocks!
Clearly this fake kidnapping is a play to get the sympathy vote. So Gone Girl.
This is the biggest candle night of the year!
I hate you right now!
Halloween is the greatest night of the year. Greatest night. Because on this night, even kind of shy, kind of homely girls dress up like total sluts. I mean, every costume is just a slutty version of something. Slutty teacher, slutty nurse, slutty nun. I saw a girl last year dressed as slutty al-Qaeda!
See, Halloween it's a night for dudes with killer bods to walk around with our shirts off. And it's totally appropriate, as long as we call ourselves gladiators, Chippendales.
I have no idea how you got into this college.
Look, we'll just hang out and play charades!
This cannot be happening!
Hey, what about Black Hairy Tongue Disease? I mean, does nobody here care about Black Hairy Tongue?
What about my pumpkin patch?
I blame you for this.
[NAME], nice boobs.
Join me in saying you are not afraid!
Just baking some cookies for the neighborhood trick-or-treaters.
Uh, they're toenail cookies.
Pink fur coats worn in all weather, my idea. Flapper dresses made out of feathers, also my idea. Oversized sunglasses worn everywhere, my idea, my idea, my idea!
So why are you baking toenail cookies and giving them to children?
Okay, whose side are you on?
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. I'm what you call
a "switch-hitter."
Wait, are you bisexual? Because that's what "switch-hitter" means.
Do you mean "double agent"?
What are you writing?
Do you know how big Halloween is in the candle community?
Is this an ant farm?
There's a mom ant, Deborah, who mostly just lies around and she has about 100 husband ants, who come around and give it to her good, which she really enjoys. And then there's about a million sterile daughter ants who feed her and are her slaves. So, an ideal family.
She'd win. And then I'd beg to be her second-in-command, while quietly pull the strings behind the scenes like Dick Cheney.
This plan involves a lot of circuitous logic.
Oh, my God! Those are, like, $100 each!
They're the highest quality candles that can be purchased retail.
What a brilliant and revolutionary idea.
Are you cheating?
This is a clear violation of the honor code.
You must be new here.
Who are you calling?
I'm gonna get you fired.
At least you wore something nice today.
Remember to smile for your mug shot.
I'm burping uncontrollably like Robert Durst.
They'll know I'm guilty!
I'm next in line and in charge here.
You can sum up my viewpoint on this with one word; indifference.
We are her only hope.
Sometimes, in order for a person to achieve their full potential, they have to do things on their own.
I am in charge here!
I love that you're a man.
This is the most sensual song ever written.
We need to do this right now!
I just saw her boobs.
Oh, a salad date is, it's like, it's more casual than dinner, but more formal than coffee.
Whose pants are these?
You know, you're a human being with feelings and needs, right?
Enough about me and my confusion and sad dead feeling inside.
It just really hurt my feelings.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure my so-called friends are the ones that turned me in so I'm just feeling, like, super alone right now.
Man, I am your biggest Instagram fan!
I just think you are a style genius.
I will never be able to repay you for the kindness you've shown me in here.
Besties for life, I say.
Your bail's been posted.
I knew you'd bail me out.
Can I just say what a relief it is to be able to share it with somebody and not feel judged?
You know, I mean, all my girlfriends are like, "That's immoral." "You should be ashamed of yourself!"
Ashamed? What the hell you got to be ashamed for?
You should be proud.
I could've lost my job.
I mean, it lasted, like, 45 seconds, and the whole time, it just felt like I was getting stabbed in the abdomen.
I tied him up and I kept my uniform on and proceeded
to read him his rights. My favorite being "You got the right to remain sexy."
Give me some!
You know he's sexy!
That was one of the best nights of my life.
Well, I've already contacted the police department, despite the fact that a person can't be considered "missing" until at least 72 hours has passed.
That's morbid.
I've already hired an investigator.
What, are you two a couple now?
What the hell are you doing?
You sold me down the river, bitch.
Wait, Gary Coleman's parents stole his kidneys?
I would never say that, because I'm pretty sure that never even happened.
Why does ratting me out sound like exactly something you would do?
You know, I've never thought of myself as a killer, but I am seriously considering ramming this pick into the back of your eye socket.
Maybe you'll get your head sawed off.
You have cameras in my room?
I have eyes everywhere, bitch.
The name of my future perfume is Revenge.
How is that something you just happen to know?
That is stupidest thing I've ever heard.
What's the password?
I just can't eat any more of these.
This ain't The Marriage Ref! This ain't Judge Joe Brown! We ain't on the Maury Show! We ain't standin' in line trying to get tickets to Dr. Phil! I am not Steve Harvey, people, and this ain't the Family Feud!
I'm tryin' to catch a killer.
Help me get the spy gear in the car!
How can you promise?
We're in a maze, you don't know where you're going!
I always knew it would come to this.
Why are we doing this right now?
I forgot the flashlights!
What am I supposed to do with this?
This is so creepy.
It smell like booty in here.
I'm getting a nervous feeling in my stomach.
I might start farting. If I cut some, you promise not to tell anyone?
Oh, my boob!
Stay where you are! I'll come and get you!
Ooh, this is nice.
It's really beautiful.
It looks like you just crossed some stuff out and wrote that in in marker.
Okay, can we talk about that for a second? Because it just happened a few hours ago, and I'm still really traumatized.
I need some cheering up right now.
Excuse me, darling, I'm exhausted.
Wait, we need to hear what happened to you.
Just wondering where you find a house with a pit. The market for them would be pretty limited.
Did you escape, or did you kill him?
I've always had a thing for bad boys.
That got way out of hand.

Forgotten
Hey guys! Here is something that I wrote. Hope you like angst because thats what this is XD I have no clue why but I have been in an angsty writing/reading mood lately. Hope you like it!
Tumblr media
Summary: You and your boyfriend, Jughead, went to Pop's together with the gang. Everything started out great, until everyone forgot about you. It was like you weren't even there. (Set like the Bulldogs and South Side Serpants don't hate eachother)
Pairing: Jughead x Reader
Warnings: Angst, swearing, angst, and some more angst. I'm in an angsty writing mood
I was tying my shoe lace when there was a knock on my trailer door. I grabbed my coat and opened the front door, smiling when I saw Jughead's face.
"Hey, you ready?" He asked with a smile. I smile back and said "Ready to go."
I follow Jughead to his motorcycle and he hands me my helmet so I can secure it on my head. Jughead gets on first and then I follow, puting my arms around his waist. Jughead starts the engine and heads to Pop's. We pull into the parking lot of Pop's and park. Jughead and I walk inside hand-in-hand and look for the gang.
"Juggie! Y/N!" We both turn our heads and see Archie waving us over. Jughead sits down first next to Betty and then I sit next Jughead and he puts his arms around me. Across the table is Archie with Veronica under is arm.
"Hey man, how's it going?" Archie asks. "Great, the article is coming along and Betty and I have finally cracked this case." Jughead says proudly as he high fives Betty. "That's awesome! What are you going to do next?" Veronica asks. "Well first, I'm going to hang with you guys, and then I'm going to take my beautiful girlfriend out on a date." Jughead smiles and kisses my forhead. A chorus of "Aww's" made it's way around the table. Pop comes over and takes everyone's order and says he will be right back with the order. Betty and Veronica are talking about boys and what ever else those two talk about. Archie and Jughead are talking about what's been going on between their families and joke around. I sit there and try to pick a conversation to possibly join in.
Suddenly we hear some loud noises behind us and we all turn around. Some Serpants and Bulldogs come in all laughing and playfully pushing eachother around. Jughead and Archie call them over and they all take a seat on top of the booths all around our table. Everyone is high fiving, cheering, and hugging.
Fangs and Sweet Pea come over and ask to sit and Jughead tells them they can take a seat next to him. I look around and see every seat is taken, so he must have meant my seat. I feel a pat on the shoulder and it's Sweet Pea telling me to move. I stand up and let him take a seat, obviously Jughead didn't mind that Sweet Pea just made me stand up so he can sit there. Fangs comes up the side of the table and leans on it, basically blocking me from being near the table. I look around, not knowing what to do, so I go and take a seat at the bar. Pop turns around and notices me.
"What are you doing over here honey. I thought you were with them." He says.
"I thought so too Pop but Sweet Pea tole me to get up so he can sit and Jughead didn't seem to care. He hasn't even noticed I came over here." You replied sadly.
I look over and see Jughead and the gang are all having a blast. No one really noticing my absence. Pop hands me my milk shake and fries and tells me it's on the house. I quietly thank him and pull my book out. I sat at the bar for a good 30 minutes eating my  fries, drinking my strawberry shake while reading my book. And still, no one has even cared to look over to me. I sigh and get up, walking over to Jughead and try to tap him but he doesn't budge. I tried to take his hat off to get his attention and he just re-adjusts it. I huff and cross your arms so I try Archie next. I pulled on his arm and try to talk to him but he shruggs me off. Now is when I start to get pissed. How can everyone just pretend like I'm not even here. I rode here with Jughead! I pulled on Archie's arm a little harder this time and he finally turns.
"What." He says. "Can you take me home please, I don't feel like being here and I want to go." You say. "Sorry I'm busy." He said without even blinking and turns back around. He jumps back into the conversation he was in and ignores me once again. I cross my arms and walk back over to Pop.
"Hey Pop, if for some miracle or reason, someone asks where I went. I walked home." I say. "Are you sure you should be walking alone this late at night dear?" He asks caringly. I turn and look outside the shop's windows and see that it is pretty dark out. I turn back to Pop and give him a weak smile. "I'll be fine. I have my pepper spray with me." Pop nods and tells you a soft 'goodbye".
I pull my jacket closer to my body and start my walk home. What a perfect windy night for a hike in the cold. I only live 45 minutes (walking distance)  from Pop's. In fact I live right next to Jughead in the trailer park.
I woke up one day and found my parents had packed up and left. Leaving a small note saying, "Couldn't do it anymore. Had to go. Couldn't pay the bills either. XOXO Mom and dad". I start tear up as I remember that day like it was yesturday. Ever since that day I've lived in that trailer park by myself, working temp jobs here and there to pay the bills.
The wind picks up and I shiver and I wrap my arms around myself to try and stay warm. I hear honking in the distance and some cheering. I turn around to see what all the commotion is about and I see a car heading your way. A motorcyle flies by with a car following it. The car had music blaring with people laughing and yelling. As the motorcyle and car get closer and it passes me, I notice something. It was Jughead on his bike and the gang back in Archie's car. They drive straight past me and in the direction the trailer park. Not even slowing down or stopping. By now I am beyond pissed off that I have tears welling up in my eyes. How could they?! Why would they even invite me tonight if they were just going to completely forget about me? I check my phone and see its about 11:40 pm. I sigh in anger and turn back around to continue walking home.
It was about midnight by time I finally made it to the trailer park. I see Jughead talking and laughing with his dad. FP notices me and smiles.
"Hey Y/N. What are you doing out by yourself so late. I figured you'd be with this one." He says while point his hand that held a beer in it towards Jughead.
Jughead turns around and look me in the eyes. His smile drops and I know he just realized what happened tonight. I don't say anything and walk straight to my trailer. Jughead runs after me and grabs my arm.
"Y/N, oh my god I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened. It's like once the Serpents and the Bulldogs showed up I. I-uh."
"You what Jughead? You forgot about me?. How could you forget that you drove me to Pop's? Or that I was sitting right next to you. You even let Sweet pea make me get up so he could sit next to you. You forgot I was even there. When I tried to get your attention, you didn't even turn to look at me, you didn't even seem to care! And when I asked Archie for a ride home because I didn't want to be there anymore, he said he was 'too busy' and ignored me too. The only fucking person in the whole building that knew I existed tonight was Pop!" I yelled back at him. By now there are angry tears running down my face. Jughead looks down, defeated.
"I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened. I'm so so so sorry. I cannot begin to express how sorry I am Y/N."
I wipe the tears away and look Jughead in the eye, "Sorry isn't going to cut it Jones. Why don't you go hang out with your friends. I'm sure you'll never forget them like you forgot about your girlfriend. Well, ex-girlfriend now." I storm inside my trailer and slam the door shut, locking it.

SHOWDOWN - [Feb. 14, 2:14 a.m.]
I WAS RUNNING. IT WAS STILL THE THIRTEENTH AND NEARING MIDNIGHT, AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE CALEB WOULD'VE GONE BUT THE FIRST THING I'D CHECK WOULD BE OUR HOME. AS I DASH PASSED THE ICE-COVERED HILL AND SEE FOOTSTEPS THAT MUST'VE BEEN THERE EARLIER TONIGHT, I SPRINT AND SPRINT UNTIL I'M PANTING AND STORMING THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD, COMING CLOSE TO OUR HOUSEHOLD. MY FISTS WERE CLENCHED BY MY SIDE.
“YOU CAN ONLY LAUGH HORRIBLY AT PEOPLE’S PLIGHTS IF YOU’VE NEVER EVEN YOURSELF FELT THE TERRIBLE PAIN,” I MUTTERED IN A FETID RAGE.
BUT THEN I SUDDENLY STOPPED WHEN I SAW SOME KIND OF LAMP, SHINING, UP ON OUR ROOF. “HEY, WAIT. PLEASE, SOMEONE, ELABORATE ON THAT PETULANT LIGHT BREAKING OUT THROUGH OUR HORRENDOUS WINDOW PANE.”
AND I SAW PORRIDGE. THE PORRIDGE I KNOW. SHE WAS SITTING, ON THE ROOF, WITH HER ONE GLOVED HAND COVERING UP HER FACE, AND THE COINS REFLECTING LAMPLIGHT PERFECTLY. “Oh...” SHE SAID, “me.” SHE MUTTERED IT ENTIRELY TO HERSELF. SHE LOOKED EXHAUSTED.
“I THINK IT’S CLEAR THAT THE TIME HAS COME WHEN SHE HAS NOW JUST SPOKEN,” I FOUND MYSELF SAYING, EVEN THOUGH I DON’T KNOW WHY, AND NOT VERY LOUDLY.
PORRIDGE STILL COULDN’T HEAR ME. “Oh...” SHE SIGHED. THEN SHE SAID SOMETHING: “Seth.”
I JERKED UPRIGHT. HAD SHE JUST SAID MY NAME?
“Why are...” HER VOICE WAS IN AN UNDERBELLIED CROAK AND NOT EVEN AUDIBLE NOW. SHE SAID SOMETHING I COULDN’T QUITE HEAR AT FIRST, BUT THEN SHE SAID IT AGAIN. “Why are you Seth,” SHE SAID VERY LOWLY AND VERY SLOWLY.
“ALRIGHT SHOULD I CONTINUE TO LISTEN OR IS IT TIME THAT I CAME IN AND MADE MY FATAL APPEARANCE,” I ASKED WITH A LARGE FLOURISH OF PRACTICAL-JOKE CANS.
AS THE SILLY SNAKES SPRANG FROM THE FAUX PEANUT CONTAINERS ON MY HIP, PORRIDGE JERKED UPRIGHT. I HAD ESSENTIALLY SAID WHAT I’D SAID IN AN OPERATIC BELT, WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO NOT INTER.
“Seth?” SHE SAID, AWARE OF ME FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME. “What are you doing down there?”
“WHY DON’T YOU TELL ME WHAT IT IS YOU’RE DOING UP THERE.”
"Um—" SHE LOOKED DOWN. "Caleb. Told me to meet him here—"
"ALRIGHT REALLY THAT'S WONDERFUL, GREAT, GOOD NEWS IN FACT WHY DON'T WE SUBSCRIBE TO CNN AND MAKE IT INTO A WORLD- MURFIE-WIDE-NEWS FLASH."
SHE STARED. THEN, SHE SLOWLY, WITH SHAKING LEGS, STOOD, UP ON THE ROOF. CALEB HAD STRUNG THE MULTI-COLORED CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FROM THAT TERRIBLE PARTY ALONG THE GUTTER AND THE EAVES, SO THOSE LIGHTS SHINED OFF OF HER TOO. "Seth," SAID PORRIDGE. "I'm—I'm sorry—"
"WHY DID YOU EVEN COME HERE?" I SAID. I WAS FACING AWAY FROM HER, ARMS SLACK AT MY SIDES. "THIS WAS A QUESTION YOU NEVER EVEN BOTHERED TO ANSWER, REALLY."
PORRIDGE, HOLDING HER RIGHT HAND IN FRONT OF HER FACE AND HER GLOVE TREMBLING AS SHE GAZED. THEN SHE SAID, "Well, I-I don't know. It's..."
"HOW DID YOU EVEN ARRANGE TO TRAVEL HERE THEN, WITH CART AND HORSE?"
"No," SHE SAID. "Actually," SHE ADDED, OBVIOUSLY HOPEFUL FOR A CHANGE IN TOPIC, "I used this app to get my luggage over here ahead of time. I had put my old mask on the suitcase so it would be marked from the others. I'd love to meet the person who developed that app, it was great—"
"ALRIGHT, THAT'S ENOUGH" I SAID. CALEB. THE FABRIC AT THE DETROIT AIRPORT. OF FUCKING COURSE.
PORRIDGE HESITATED. "Seth—?"
"WHATEVER, FORGET IT!" I LOOKED UP AT HER, ON THE SECOND-STORY ROOF OF MY HOME. I WONDER HOW SHE GOT UP THERE ANYHOW. CALEB WOULD ALWAYS GET DOWN OFF THE ROOF BY WAY OF LEAPING ONTO THE HOOD OF HIS CAR, BUT THAT WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE NOW. AND—
"hey, buddy!"
I LOOKED UP.
"wanna give us a little privacy?" SAID CALEB, WHO WAS STRIDING OVER, COATTAILS FLOWING BEHIND HIM ANGRILY.
"Wait, Caleb—" STARTED PORRIDGE, BUT I CUT IN.
"CALEB IS THERE ANY REASON THAT YOU NEED TO BE SO FUCKING POSSESIVE ALL THE TIME?" UNRECOGNIZABLE. FINE. IF I WAS, HE WAS TOO.
"alright buddy, you know what?" CALEB CAME FORWARD, NEARLY PUSHING ME. "you need to know the truth, okay? porridge has chosen me. don't disrespect the king."
"I—I didn't—"
"CALEB IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE PORRIDGE HAS REALLY CHOSEN ANYBODY."
"That's not true," SHE SAID, THE BAGS UNDER HER EYES LOOKING HEAVIER THAN EVER BEFORE.
"WHAT—?" BUT SUDDENLY CALEB TOOK THE BOTTLE, THE BOTTLE, OUT FROM HIS COAT AND FLUNG IT UP AND IN THE AIR. "sever your fucking ties."
"FUCK, CALEB, NO!"
"Whoa whoa whoa!" SHOUTED PORRIDGE.
"CALEB WHAT THE—"
"Here—" SAID PORRIDGE AND SUDDENLY HER FEET SKIDDED DOWN THE ROOF AS SHE PUSHED HERSELF FORWARD TO REACH OUT AND JUST BARELY SNATCH THE BOTTLE BEFORE IT COULD SHATTER ONTO THE GROUND—BUT, AT THE SAME TIME, PORRIDGE'S RIGHT SHOE LOST FOOTING AND SHE SUDDENLY FOUND HER LEGS DANGLING FROM THE GUTTER; SHE GASPED.
"PORRIDGE!!" "porridge!!"
"Fuck," SHE MANAGED, AND SHE WAS HANGING ON BY THAT ONE GLOVED HAND, THE OTHER HAND SWINGING AND STILL CLUTCHING AT THE INIMITABLE BOTTLE.
"OH GODDAMMIT CALEB." THE DROP WAS ENOUGH THAT YEAH SHE WOULDN'T FUCKING DIE BUT SHE WOULND'T NOT GET BADLY FUCKING DAMAGED EITHER. "PORRIDGE HERE" AND I HELD MY ARMS OUT.
"alright stop you're gonna fuck it up" AND CALEB PUSHED ME OUT OF THE WAY AND HELD HIS ARMS OUT. "alright porridge drop the bottle!"
"Wait, if I can just—"
"DROP IT!" I SHOUTED.
SHE DROPPED IT, AND CALEB CAUGHT THE BOTTLE THEN SET IT ONTO THE GROUND, BEFORE HE SAID "okay porridge", SPREADING HIS ARMS AGAIN BUT SHAKING WILDLY. "fuck" HE MUTTERED, SUDDENLY USURPING HIS CATCH-POSE TO RUN A SHAKING HAND OVER HIS HAIRLINE, HIS BACK HUNCHED OVER. "t-too much coke."
"CALEB YOU NEED HELP" I TOLD HIM.
"f-fuck you!" HE SCREAMED, REELING BACK.
"Uh, guys—" PORRIDGE WAS STARTING TO SLIP.
"CALEB YOU HAVE TO GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF, ALRIGHT? PORRIDGE IS GONNA FALL—"
"i'm fine! and i'll catch her" SAID CALEB. HE HELD HIS ARMS OUT.
"CALEB JUST LET ME FUCKING HELP—"
"you're not going to help."
"Guys," SAID PORRIDGE, "I-I'm, ohhh fuck—"
"CALEB—"
"seth—"
"IF YOU WOULD'VE JUST LOOKED AT THE BOTTLE THEN MAYBE YOU WOULD'VE—"
"enough about the fucking bottle!!" CALEB HOWLED. "it's just a bottle, dude, okay?! curses aren't real, the fucking ‘eenie gang’ isn’t real, none of that's shit's real, alright? you're living in a delusion and you have been since you were little, seth, and maybe it's me and mom's fault, fine, but—"
"I-I'm gonna fall—"
"CALEB—"
"and porridge is going to be with me, not you, not anyone, not some strange man coming into our home and into our mom's bedroom and who doesn't even pay respect to the grave for my dog—"
"CALEB SHE'S—"
"and—”
AND SHE FELL.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
CLUNK.
IT WAS THE SOUND OF HER FALLING AS SHE GASPED AND WAS CAUGHT TIGHTLY IN THE GRASP OF CALEB'S ARMS. AS WELL AS MY ARMS. THEY WERE BOTH AROUND HER WAIST. I'M NOT TOTALLY SURE EITHER OF US COULD'VE PROPERLY DONE IT ALONE. AND I NEARLY SHRIEKED, BECAUSE FOR AN AWFUL SECOND I THOUGHT SHE HAD LOST HER LEFT HAND BECAUSE I SAW THAT THE COIN-TIPPED GLOVE WAS STILL HANGING ONTO THE ROOF'S EDGE. BUT SUDDENLY I FELT CALEB SHIFT. AND I FELT HIM SUDDENLY DROP HIS ARMS AND LOOK AT SOMETHING, SOMETHING IN FRONT OF HIM. HIS BREATHING SLOWED. HIS AVIATORS POINTED AT PORRIDGE'S LEFT HAND, WHICH SHE WAS HOLDING UP TO HER FACE AND RUBBING GINGERLY. HER HEAD WAS DOWN, STARING AT THE BOTTLE'S TEXT, AND I SAW THAT THERE WAS SOME KIND OF METAL CIRCLE AROUND ONE OF HER FINGERS? YOU KNOW, THE FINGER BETWEEN THE MIDDLE AND THE PINKIE, I FORGET WHAT THAT ONE'S CALLED EXACTLY—BUT THAT THE METAL CIRCLE AROUND THAT FINGER HAD LIKE A JEWEL IN IT. HUH.
WE STOOD THERE FOR AWHILE. WHAT WAS THIS? WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE BIG DEAL ABOUT A METAL CIRCLE AND A JEWEL? I, I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE, EXCEPT ON MOM YEARS AGO AND UPON ASKING HER ABOUT IT, SHE SAID IT DOESN'T REALLY MEAN ANYTHING ANYMORE. AND WHY WAS CALEB POINTING AT THE FINGER PLUS STARTING TO CRY?
"Um... " BOTH CALEB AND ME LOOKED UP AT HER WHEN WE REALIZED PORRIDGE WAS SPEAKING. "I thought... " HER VOICE DIDN'T SOUND NORMAL. "I thought that if I kept it on, it would somehow be... " SHE SIGHED AND ROLLED HER HEAD ALONG HER SHOULDERS, AND I SAW THAT HER EYES WERE REFLECTING LIGHT MORE POTENTLY THAN NORMAL. WHAT? "I don't know... more—honest—" AND SHE WAS CUT OFF BY HER BREATH SUCKING INWARD AND HER BACK ARCHING—I LET GO OF HER MIDRIFF. WHAT WAS GOING ON?
"someone you met in japan?" SAID CALEB.
PORRIDGE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING, BUT NODDED. WHAT?
CALEB HAD BEEN STANDING THERE FOR SOME TIME NOW. HE HAD WIPED THE MOISTURE OFF OF HIS FACE, AND FINALLY SOME ALARM ON HIS CELL PHONE WENT OFF, AND HE LOOKED AT IT. "happy fourteenth. twenty-three hours till our flight leaves." HE WAS REALLY QUIET, AND KIND OF MONOTONE. AND CALEB PUT AWAY THE PHONE, STILL LETTING HIS ALARM RING. FINALLY HE LOOKED AT PORRIDGE BEHIND HIS AVIATORS AND SAID: "go."
"C—Caleb—" SAID PORRIDGE—
"go" HE SAID LOUDER THIS TIME, STARTING TO WALK TOWARD HER.
"Caleb Caleb, I'm—"
"will you just fucking go!!" HE SHRIEKED, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I CAME THERE BETWEEN CALEB AND HER, HOLDING HIM BACK AND MY ARM SHIELDING PORRIDGE'S SHAKING FRAME WHILE THE INNOCENT LITTLE ALARM CONTINUED TO GO OFF AND OFF.
RING-RING-RINGGGG!
PORRIDGE SOBBED. "Will you—will you, um, read the bottle that Seth wrote on—?"
"YOU READ IT?" I TURNED TO HER.
RINGGGG!
SHE NODDED.
"go!" CALEB YELLED, AND SUDDENLY PORRIDGE TURNED AND RAN, DISAPPEARING INTO THE DARK. I STARED.
RING-RING-RINGGGGG!
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
IN THE NIGHT AIR THE ALARM CONTINUED RINGING, AND CALEB FINALLY TOOK THE PHONE OUT OF HIS POCKET AND SWITCHED IT OFF.
I WAS STILL SO CONFUSED. SO WHY DID CALEB FREAK OUT ABOUT A FINGER-DECORATION? IS THAT HE WISHES HE COULD HAVE HIS OWN FINGER-BEJEWLMENT? AND HONESTLY I'M STARTING TO REGRET WHAT I SUGGESTED VIA WRITING ON THE BOTTLE—I'M REGRETTING IT BECAUSE OF THIS BIZARRE FUCKING BEHAVIOR TOWARDS PORRIDGE AND SOME OF THE THINGS HE'S SAID HAVE JUST SET ME TO THE LIMIT. CURSES HAVE TO BE REAL. HOW ELSE CAN YOU EXPLAIN—
"seth." I LOOKED OVER. CALEB HAD PICKED UP THE BOTTLE AND WAS READING IT NOW. HIS GLASSES HAD COME OFF, AND HE WAS STARING. HE READ THE MESSAGE I'D WRITTEN, WITH I lift the curse REFLECTING BEHIND IT, BACKWARDS, AND HE SAW THAT ON THE OTHER SIDE IT SAID
CALEB,
I HAVE A SUGGESTED NAME FOR YOUR SILLY LITTLE BUSINESS. CALL YOUR COMPANY "KNIGHT BROTHERS INCORPORATED".
I'LL EVEN ASSIST YOU IN THE ADMINISTRATION ONCE I GRADUATE COLLEGE, OF COURSE. I KNOW YOU'LL WANT ME, AND MY UNCEASING CANDOR.
SINCERELY,
-SETH YOUR BROTHER.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I SAID. CALEB HAD MADE ME ANGRY AGAIN AND AGAIN. IT WAS TIME FOR IT TO END. I DON'T KNOW WHY I WROTE WHAT I DID.
CALEB LOOKED LIKE HE WAS UNDERGOING SOMETHING THAT HE'D BEEN STRUGGLING WITH FOR A LONG TIME. FINALLY, EYE STILL ON THAT BOTTLE, FINGER RUBBING MY SUGGESTED NAME FOR THE COMPANY, HE SAID "not after college."
"WHAT?"
"not after college" HE SAID AGAIN, LOUDER THIS TIME. HE LOOKED UP. "now. come with me for the flight tomorrow night. i'll have an extra seat now, you can take time off from school and help me."
I STOOD BACK. "CALEB NO." I WAS STARING IN THE DIRECTION WHERE PORRIDGE HAD RUN OFF TO. "CALEB, WHY EXACTLY DID PORRIDGE RUN AWAY? WHAT IN THE PRUMP IS REALLY GOING ON—?"
"seth." CALEB STEPPED TOWARD ME, GRABBING ME BY THE SHOULDERS. "dude." HE WAS LOOKING AT ME, LOOKING SOMEHOW DESPARATE. "none of that matters now. just trust me. i love your idea of you helping me run my business, and flying off with me, i-i think i actually need y—"
"CALEB!" AND I SHOOK HIM OFF ME, EVEN AS HIS EYES WENT HUGE AND WORN. "NO! NO, OKAY? I, I, I NEED TO STAY HERE, I HAVE OBLIGATIONS, ALRIGHT? PORRIDGE MIGHT STILL BE HERE, AND-AND MOM—WELL, MOM P-P-PROBABLY WANTS ME TO STAY HERE, TO STAY IN SCHOOL AND—"
"seth mom doesn't care about y—" HE STOPPED.
I STARED. MY TEETH WERE CLENCHED. "WHAT?"
"mom doesn't care about us." CALEB SWUNG THE BOTTLE IN HIS HAND. "not, anymore really. she has a man to take care of her now."
"I—I—I NEVER THOUGHT MOM WAS MY GREATEST FAN, BUT I KNOW I'LL PROVE MYSELF TO HER, JUST GIVE ME A CHANCE, I KNOW I'LL—"
"seth, this is your curse. this is why—"
"NO!!!" I SCREAMED, AND I PUSHED CALEB AND RAN. I RAN AND RAN AND I RAN UNTIL COMING TO THE ICE-COVERED HILL, AND I SAT DOWN THERE, IN THE SNOW. THE WIND WENT BY GENTLY, AND I COULD HEAR A COYOTE HOWLING IN THE DISTANCE, BEFORE EVENTUALLY, I LAID BACK, LETTING THE ICE NUMB MY ARMS AND LEGS AND FEET. I STARED UP AT THE MOON, WONDERING WHEN IT WOULD BE FULL AGAIN. AND—
BUT THEN MY PHONE RINGS.
I PICK IT UP, BRUSHING OFF THE ICE-COVERED CRYSTALS. CALL FROM HOME. HM. I ANSWER IT.
"CALEB JUST LISTEN, I CAN'T—"
I STOP, HEARING THE VOICE ON THE OTHER END OF THE LINE. MY CHIN DROPS.
"MOM?"
I SIT UP.
THE VOICE JUST KEEPS ON SPEAKING.
"Y-YES" I SAY EVENTUALLY, "OKAY SO YES I UNDERSTAND, CALEB TOLD YOU TO CALL ME, AND YES I REMEMBER YOU SENDING ME TO THE BACKYARD ALL THOSE YEARS AGO—BUT W-WHATEVER, IT DOESN'T MATTER! IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH YOU AND CALEB WHILE—"
THE VOICE CUTS ME OFF, TELLING ME SOMETHING ELSE.
I PAUSE. "OH. YOU TWO WOULD DO A GAME WHERE—YOU'D—WHAT? I NEVER SAW YOU DO THAT."
THE VOICE TELLS ME ANOTHER THING.
"OH. WELL I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WE OWNED ONE OF THOSE. I WOULD ALWAYS JUST GET SOAKED ON THE RAINY DAYS."
THE VOICE SAYS SOMETHING ELSE.
"OH. WELL, EVEN IF YOU WERE, WHATEVER, PRANCING AROUND WITH AN UMBRELLA WHILE INDOORS OR WHATEVER YOU SAID YOU WERE DOING TO ENTERTAIN SIX-YEAR-OLD CALEB, I-I STILL DON'T CARE THAT I WAS JUST EXCLUDED—"
THE VOICE CUTS ME OFF AGAIN, THIS TIME SAYING SOMETHING LOUDER AND WITH MORE FORCE THAN EVEN BEFORE. I WAIT TILL IT FINISHES.
"OH." AND I SIT THERE, HAND GETTING NUMBER AND NUMBER IN FROST. FINALLY I SAY "I DIDN'T THINK YOU WOULD SUPPORT ME DOING SOMETHING LIKE THAT, MOM. GOING ALL THE WAY TO ANTARCTICA—"
THE VOICE SAYS ANOTHER THING. MY HEAD FALLS BACK AS MY SCALP TOUCHES SNOW AGAIN.
"YOU REALLY THINK CALEB DEPENDS ON ME THAT MUCH? THAT I'VE BENEFITTED HIM AND-AND THAT I ACTUALLY MATTER, AND THAT I AM A GOOD PERSON AND I'LL FIND LOVE SOMEDAY AND I'VE BEEN THE BEST OLDER BROTHER CALEB COULD EVER HAVE AND-AND-AND ALL THESE THINGS YOU'VE JUST TOLD ME BUT THAT YOU'VE NEVER, EVER SAID BEFORE NOW—"
THE VOICE QUIETLY SAYS SOMETHING THAT IT HASN'T TOLD ME SINCE THE DAY CALEB WAS BORN.
I SIT IN THE SNOW AND WIND. THE WHITE NOISE ON THE END OF THE LINE HUMS BRILLIANTLY, AND AFTER A WHILE I OPEN MY MOUTH NEAR THE PHONE AND SAY "LOVE YOU TOO" BEFORE I HANG UP. PERFECT STRIKE.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
WHEN I ARRIVE AT THE HOUSE TEN MINUTES LATER, I SEE CALEB, SITTING IN A CHAIR AT THE FRONT ROOM. THE BOTTLE IS ON A TABLE BESIDE HIM, WHERE CAN I SEE UNDER MY PROPOSITION HE'S WRITTEN sure.
"CALEB."
HE LOOKS UP AT ME.
I TELL HIM THAT I'VE CHANGED MY MIND. I'LL GO WITH HIM TO ANTARCTICA. TOMORROW NIGHT.
CALEB LOOKS SURPRISED, AND HE SMILES. AND THEN, HE WALKS UP AND HUGS ME. I STIFFEN, NOT REALLY KNOWING WHAT EXACTLY TO DO AT FIRST, BUT THEN I JUST PUT MY ARMS AROUND HIM, AND WE BREAK.
"okay, dude" SAYS CALEB QUICKLY. HIS VOICE SOUNDS REALLY TIRED. "get packing."
"ALRIGHT."
AND I WAS IN MY ROOM SUDDENLY PACKING MY THINGS, ROLLING UP CLOTHES AND TOSSING IN ORANGE PEELS AND COFFEE CHUNKS, AND I THOUGHT ABOUT SOMETHING I SAW, SOMETHING STICKING SLIGHTLY OUT OF CALEB'S FRONT POCKET.
"you almost ready dude?" HE CALLS AS I START TO ZIP UP MY SUITCASE.
"A MOMENT SIR" I CALL DOWN.
I PREPARE TO WALK DOWN THE STAIRCASE, THINKING ABOUT HOW IN HIS FRONT POCKET I SAW A BOX, WITH THE WORDS—
"alright" SAYS CALEB, STOPPING MY THOUGHT-TRAIN. HE STANDS IN FRONT OF THE DOOR AND LOOKS AT OUR HOUSE FOR A FINAL TIME. "off we go dude."
"OFF WE GO."
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
BEFORE WE LEFT, THERE WAS ONE OTHER STOP.
AT THE ICE-COVERED HILL, NEAR THE MOUND, YOU'LL SEE SOMETHING, STUCK IN THE SNOW AND UPSIDE-DOWN. IF IT RESEMBLES A TOTALLY EMPTY CIDER BOTTLE, WITH WORDS IN DIFFERENT HANDWRITINGS WRITTEN ALL OVER, YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT GRAVE.
