So, I had this thought, about a grumpy little 2D Rodney- so I set off to make it happen- (I had no idea what I was doing)
Tumblr media
I love him.
-
Thennnn I thought, hey, wouldn't it be cool if I animated him? (counts as using my degree right?)
Tumblr media
Adorable.
-
but- BUT (no way man it's impossible)
WHAT IF YOU- (stop)
WHAT IF YOU COULD- (don't even-)
WHAT IF YOU COULD CONTROL HIM!?
Mission accomplished

☆ | SOUL EATER ◇ PROJECT ARCANA | ☆
1. Lord Death as Death
- Meaning: End of cycles, new beginnings, new life.
- Reversed: A reversal of the Death card suggests one is resisting change or a significant transformation. Holding on to old perspectives or beliefs from the past could hinder progress and leave you feeling stagnant.
• Interpretation: The effect Death has on the world and everything in it, his place as not only as a god but existing in nature as well, his legacy as the first guardian and passing it on to the next, the passing of the torch, and knowing that while his time is running short, he trusts those who will lead after him.

I just came across your villain rook art and it's fantastic! Is there a collection of your fanart of Ben 10? I felt like there were more designs but the pages no longer exist.
Omg thank you sm!! 💜 Unfortunately not, I felt most of it was outdated and had to priv it 💔 I can't say fs whether my art style changed much since then but we all know the deal with old art LOL OTL,, In any case I threw together a lil sum for him 🙈

Who says the episode title phrases in each episode of Wolf 359?
I've created a spreadsheet to show which character says the episode title phrase (i.e. the words which form the name of that particular episode) in every episode of Wolf 359. Graphs summarising this data can be found below, but to look at the full spreadsheet in all its glory, and see the progression through the series, you can follow this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cQLkhxbDAItU6rdiUAYGn54FXXxYC-JXlCmP_Dqe9FA/
(Please note: I’ve focused here on which character first speaks the exact title phrase within the episode itself. In some cases, this is not the only - or the most significant - time that the title phrase is spoken.)
EDIT: This post previously stated incorrectly that "the devil's plaything" is not said in Ep57. In fact, it is said by Pryce (through Minkowski). Thank you to @yaghoulghosty for pointing this out!

@earlgrey--tea you asked who learned French just by watching TV shows and I'm thrilled you asked.
Here is the paper Peter Llewellyn Foley published: Picking up a second language from television: an autoethnographic L2 simulation of L1 French learning. Looking over the paper again now, he did 1500 hours of audio-visual French material for native speakers. He read toward the end of that period for some hundreds of hours, and he talked to people in French similarly toward the end of that period for some hundreds of hours. I read the whole thing, and I recommend anyone else who's curious reads the whole thing. Because my takeaways may not be the same as another person's. The paper includes what he did, how he studied, how he tracked his study, what study materials worked best (he found children's cartoons with a lot of visuals of what is being talked about were the easiest to learn from in the first few hundred hours - and adult television where they talk about things not directly visually shown as some of the hardest stuff that he used once he had more understanding of the language).
His paper shows at least 1 person could learn French by watching shows (with children's cartoons being best at the beginning stage until you learn more words), and trying to figure out what each thing means as you hear it. He did a lot of puzzling out the sounds he heard, using context and guessing what was being talked about (for curiosity's sake he did the opposite of what ALG Automatic Language Growth articles tend to suggest people do). He did not do any reading later sometime after 1000 hours, and it's fascinating how different he imagined French spelling was based on his guesses from the sound, compared to how it is actually spelled. He did use some graded readers for learners once he was reading.
He did not look any word translations up when watching all those shows. He personally makes the guess that if he HAD looked up words, if he HAD used French subtitles, and if he had focused entirely on children's shows at first, his progress might have taken less time. But his experiment did not do that, so it's only a guess, and actual success of people who've looked up words should be referenced instead for how successful or not it is (people like r/Refold learners look up words while watching shows), and he did not use any video materials made for language learners but my personal thinking is that Comprehensible Input type lessons at the beginning stage may have worked even better than children's cartoons.
To me, his level of understanding and ability to do things lines up fairly well with Dreaming Spanish's roadmap estimated hours to do X things. That makes sense to me as Peter basically studied with stuff made for native speakers, which eventually became more comprehensible. And Dreaming Spanish is designed to be fully comprehensible to a learner, until they can comprehend stuff for native speakers. I imagine Peter had a harder time initially, but as an English speaker learning French, with all the cognates, maybe he didn't have to learn as much to cross the threshold into comprehending children's shows as someone learning a language with no cognates.
I wrote my in depth thoughts about his paper here but it's mostly just rambling.

watching cdramas with french subtitles is the best idea i ever had. if the show is in a language i don't speak i'm already going to have to be closely reading the subtitles, so why not also use it as language practice? the subs go by so fast i don't have time to translate them internally into english, i just have to absorb the meaning without doing that (which is how it's supposed to work but i've never been fully able to do that before). AND the best part is that when i'm going about my day i'm finding that some of my internal monologue is just in french now?? i think it's because subs are almost entirely dialogue...i'm getting hours of dialogue practice without actually having to converse. it's also fun with cdramas specifically because i have by now picked up some chinese vocabulary from watching tv and i get to see how that vocabulary is translated into french. idk man i'm just having a great time.
#i used to watch stuff in english with french subtitles but it's just not the same#maybe it would be more interesting now that i'm better at french but idk it didn't really do much for me#because i'd mostly be understanding via the english i was hearing and didn't have to rely on the french for much#but with chinese there are only like. 20 sentences you could say that i wouldn't need a translation for#anything other than that and i have to rely on the subtitles#so i have to comprehend the french or i won't know what's happening at all#the other great thing about this method of improving comprehension is you can rewind!!!#you can pause. you can repeat it if necessary. you can theoretically do that in real conversations but watch out#so like. when i'm just reading a novel i can read at any old pace. and in fact since i always read aloud i can only read at#the speed at which i can speak french. which is faster than it used to be but still not as fast as i can read silently#but reading subs forces you to read pretty fast. which is good practice. and then whenever you miss something you still have#the option to back up#my posts#french#subtitles#f#i always have subtitles on even when it's english subs for oral english#but in that case the subs are an aid and i'm mostly comprehending by listening#auditory processing is easier with hints lol#so it's usually possible for me to say chop vegetables or something while watching english-language media#because i'll just look up when i need help understanding something. but i'm not reading all the subs#not the case for a show in any other language. if i'm going to watch a show in chinese i have to sit down and concentrate#if i'm already concentrating and reading all the subs might as well make some progress

"you convinced yourself that this was necessary, this darkness.
that it was the only way to survive, to grow stronger than those who hurt you.
it consumed your mind, your heart, your soul.
you let that power in, let it run in your every vein, let it make your eyes black as the night.
but, my darling — don't lie to me.
don't tell me you didn't enjoy the fear in their eyes, the screams of the crowd.
when you welcomed in the dark, don't tell me that it didn't feel so unbelievably right.
because, in the end, when that crown is placed on your head, you are a liar if you claim that it was necessary.
no.
this was your plan all along — wasn't it?"

Who is Danny’s most underrated rogue and why is it Walker
You are so correct. I can't say I've seen Walker as anyone's top favorite and he's about as underrated as Freakshow-- but like Freakshow we sure do appreciate them giving us more solid reasons for someone to hate Phantom. That's not to say that his main appearances in the show don't seem decently recieved, but that he never fit that fandom sweet spot of there being enough questions or intrigue over his setup or personality.
But Walker's "There's all kinds of prisons, kid" is such a good setup. Most of Danny's rogues gallery don't go after his personal life despite knowing who he is. He's not as invasive as Vlad, but it's exciting to see someone who really takes advantage of knowing where Danny's home is. It's fun to watch another villain employ psychological warfare.
And most importantly: Walker wins. He's not a beat-them-into-the-soup-can-and-done villain of the week. Or a Danny can wish-everything-back-to-normal one. Walker's actions don't get to be wiped clean the following day. The game changed when he made Phantom into a pariah.

There was this AU/fic idea I had in my head for a LONG time where Arthur murders Feliciano after he rejects Arthur's proposal and when Arthur realised what he did was wrong, he fixes his ways but really, he just becomes way worse.

I think if I'm ever a parent, I'm gonna make my kids play outside for an hour after school instead of doing homework, and if the weather is bad or they don't wanna play outside, then they can either do a craft or free read (or switch from one to the other) bc I feel like building motor skills and reading comprehension are more important than being forced to slog through 2+ hours of bullshit that you already spent all day doing, and if they get marked down for doing homework, I'll explain to them how grades don't actually matter until you get to college (and even then, Cs get degrees) and it's more important to enjoy childhood and learn through reading and play, and homework is bullshit that actually discourages people from learning
#knowledge is more important than grades!! knowledge is more important than grades!!!#literally the two big things keeping me from going back to college classes are: homework. and also#like halfway thru the quarter I'll forget an assignment and immediately feel like I'm back in my parents' room being screamed at by my dad#bc he just checked me grades and now he has to yell at me until I cry for not doing my homework#and it turns out that gives me a lot of anxiety about school as an adult!!! who knew!!#I should clarify that the anxiety is triggered by checking my grades and getting a grade below 80%#it's not immediately when I forget the assignment I just usually realize that when I go to check grades#which I do obsessively bc I Have To See That I'm Doing Good#to be fair. I did immediately go from school to the TV most days bc I needed to get my dopamine hit from watching the show I was obsessed w/#which to my parents read as 'not trying hard enough' bc I was 'such a bright kid!' even tho I was getting lots of Cs and Ds and sometimes Fs#(I knew I was fucked when I had to take home an F on my progress reports 😬)#so like. it was a problem they exclusively tried to solve by yelling#and I wasn't supposed to be upset by that bc they were both actually hit by *their* parents so I was just being 'sulky'#and now that they know I have ADHD my mom is rly apologetic about back then and she rly has changed how she sees that stuff#which I rly appreciate!! and I love my mom and dad and this was p much the only thing they fucked up but like.#I'm gonna tweak their approach a bit. y'know?

The Me who bought tickets to see TMBG in february 2023 and the Me who's going to actually go to the show next month are two completely different people
#slash extremely negative#it's funny to actually live this whole sort of cliche of: the time between buying tickets and going to the show can be so absurdly long#with what was supposed to be my 1st 'real' concert no less#'i bought the tickets as a teenager but i'm going to see them in my 20s etc' and stuff like that#and then when it gets rescheduled too... well. a year and 9 months is in fact a pretty long time!!!#and i'm not even talking about rescheduling due to covid because god at least i didn't have to deal with that i guess#(it IS funny though that by the time the 30th anniversary of flood tour ends#flood will be 2 months away from turning 35. so yeah lmao a lot happened in the meantime huh)#anyways day two of going crazy going insane for no reason other than well i guess that's just my life now!!!!! 😃😃😃#me when i say i'll stop documenting my rapidly progressing mental breakdown online and then keep doing it anyway#but idk maybe this will heal me in some way. my only hope rn no joke#and my mom actually seemed to be unsure if i we should book the hotels and stuff because. ig i'm this obviously unwell even over the phone#but BY GOD this is the only thing i can really look forward to right now i really need this to survive#(trying to forget how i was doing in september of last year when they rescheduled the tour#and i couldn't even be sure if i'd ever get to see them in the end lollllll#and at the heights of my tmbg obsession this was my number 1 dream. i mean it still is)#also i think i'm finally entering my tmbg autumn era now with some more frequent listening after not doing so for a while#how could i let myself pretty much forget that i love tmbg??? and that their music is so good and makes me happy???#they're still my fav band of all time just like they were back then. THAT didn't change at least#it's just that now they share that spot with sparks also lol. can't choose between them and why should i anyway#what else. ig i just hope i get the energy to finally draw tomorrow at least#because if i don't turn the ideas i have into reality then they will never become real! and that would be so sad#so maybe this can be my main reason to continue for now. whatever
