The Boyfriends Comic is so incredibly ass for so many reasons but honestly one of the biggest things that enrages me about it is Goth. Just. As a whole. No this isn't just complaining about his personality or trans representation or anything, that's been complained about many times and it'd be redundant for me to complain about it. It's the fact that they call him a Goth while he is in no way Goth. That bitch is not a goth.

To be clear I'm not a Goth. If any actual goths or more knowledgeable people who are reading this notice a mistake in what I'm saying, please feel free to call it out. But I know enough about subcultures (as someone who's recently developed an interest in researching them) to tell you that that man called Goth is not a goth.

Like punk, Goth also comes with some philosphies and largely in interest in actual goth music. Especially music. Goth is a very music oriented subculture. And no, not Fall Out Boy or Corpse Husband or whatever you think is goth. The Cure, Rosetta Stone, Joy Division, Rose Garden Funeral Party, Specimen, even Molchat Doma. Bands whose aesthetic is nothing like Goth's, the character. Now I'm not saying that an aesthetic is what defines a subculture. But you can usually connect an aesthetic to a subculture very quickly, and in terms of Goth's (who's literally named after a subculture)...Goth has a very mainstream aesthetic and is at most edgy. It doesn't really have the "dark beauty" thing that the goth subculture has going (which is tbh the best way I can explain it in short). At best I'd crowd him more into subcultures like Scene but that's a bit of a reach. Emo would fit him better but even then that's questionable. The best way I can define this guy is as an Eboy. And that's it.

okay yes, like he would be standing around with his mum and teammates trying to focus on the conversation they were having but he couldn't tear his eyes away from you running around after Lucas Vazques' kids, making them laugh uncontrollably when you caught them or the way you'd help Dani Carvajal's son hold up the trophy, making him smile so big for thinking he was lifting it by himself and as if he wasn't feeling overwhelmed already he swore his heart could have burst when you later went over to him to say bye with one of his teammates not even one year old clutching on to you. Small arms around your neck, her little head resting against your shoulder and you just looked so natural with it and it drives him a little mental and after he's kissed you and you leave he can't get that image out of his head even with the amount of drinks in his system by then. When he gets home hours later he's trying to make as little noise as possible, not wanting to wake you or anyone else in the house up and he's not expecting to walk into your shared bedroom and see you sitting up in bed, phone in hand no doubt scrolling on Tiktok. "You're going to feel beyond terrible tomorrow," is what you say when he falls on the bed, he lays still for a second before he starts moving around so he can lay closer to you, head resting on your stomach. Your fingers go to scratch the back of his head and after a few moments of complete silence you almost think he's fallen asleep until he lifts his head so he can look up at you, eyes so pretty and glossy and you smile at him before running your thumb over his pouted lip. "You okay?"

"I want you, want you to," he kept mumbling the words over and over, you found it a little amusing how he had gone from this overly confident man you had seen all over your X and Tiktok feed hours prior to this shy boy laying next to you.

"Want me to what?"

"Have babies with me." You were unsure on how to respond, it was probably the last thing you'd expect him to say so you just sat back, raised your eyebrows at him, a giggle escaping past your lips at how he was nodding his head while repeatedly mumbling "yes, I want that".

"You do, yeah?"

"So bad."

"Okay, how about we go sleep?"

"No, I've jus-, just keep thinking about you with the kids today and I, I want us to have that," he sounded so sure you could have almost forgotten that he was drunk out of his mind.

"I thought you didn't want kids?" You teased, fingers running over his cheeks, still trying to get used to his completely bare face. Your future together was often a topic of discussion but kids had never been apart of the conversation until this moment and you weren't going to pretend like seeing him be so good with all of his teammates kids hadn't sent your mind in a frenzy.

"I never said I didn't want them with you."

"Okay."

"Yeah? we should try...right now."

"Okay, calm down, silly." You tried to keep your voice down but couldn't hold in your laughter over how fast he was trying to get undressed before laying over you, lips moving over your chest and up your neck. "Hey, don't laugh...trying to love on you, baby," but when you didn't stop, instead hiding your face away from him and in your pillow, unable to take him seriously Jude got the hind and laid back down, content for the moment with just holding your hand.. "I love you...mucho."

"I love you mucho too, Jude," you smiled, leaning up and capturing his lips with yours for a moment before pulling back.

"I get to come home to you, so lucky..so lucky you're going to be the mum to my babies."

how did you get started making music, tools-wise?

I've talked about this a bit before and I don't necessarily recommend doing this, so skip the following two paragraphs and go right to the one under the break if you actually want the method I recommend

I lied to a girl I liked from my school and told her that, because I could play guitar I could also play piano, so I could teach her to play piano. both of these statements were lies.

I had to panic and learn both guitar and piano one week ahead of the lessons I was giving her as an excuse to hang out. so I self-taught in a haze of panic and "maybe she'll like me" (she did not) (but she kind of did) (but she was bicurious) (but she was wishy-washy on if she wanted to get together and her parents didn't like me) (and her parents were homophobic) (I think she might have texted me at one point years down the line to tell me she had a girlfriend but it was after I deleted our text history and I'm chronically unable to remember to put people's names into my contacts so who knows)

but that's all an aside. that's a bad method.

anyway if you want to start making music in earnest, doing what I did when I got serious about making songs instead of trying to impress girls whose parents wanted to destroy me with their minds here's a better answer

go acquire FL Studio. it's apparently really easy to do this because people have been acquiring it for years, or so I've heard. FL is good for learning because you've got 20 years worth of free tutorials available to you on youtube to dig through and plenty of stock vsts to play with out of the box

FL Studio is, realistically, the only tool you actually need to start making music. you could get away with less, but it's what I used, and as long as you don't pick up Specific Bad Habits, your experience with it will transfer to other DAWs if you decide to switch it later

that's all, really

if you go this route, the golden rule I'm going to impart on you right now is that you need to have a limiter on your songs. the default FL studio song templates have one, so you should keep it until you know enough to know why you might adjust something like that

it doesn't matter if it sounds fine in the editor without a limiter. everyone thinks it's not a big deal at the time, but as you get more experienced, there's literally nothing short of getting in legal trouble that you'll regret more than realising that your old work is almost entirely unsalvageable because you didn't put a limiter on it and now half of the audio is just lost data to clipping

I'm gonna put a few more recommendations for things I've used, just so you can consider them if you need something else to chew on. everything past this point is entirely optional and you'll do just fine with FL Studio alone. in fact, probably don't worry about everything below the line

DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATIONS THAT AREN'T FL

for tracker-based editing and chiptunes, use Renoise. you'll either love or hate trackers, and while they have a steeper learning curve than piano roll DAWs, they might come more naturally to you. I personally think that Renoise is a lot of fun to use. it kinda has an "addictive" quality to it, as funny as that is to say

for quickly sketching songs, use [F]Jummbox. it's an html workstation (multiplatform!) that writes your sketches to a url, meaning it's pretty easy to collaborate on musical sketches. Jummbox is good for making chiptune style instrumentals, but what makes it especially accessible is the fact that it works on a piano roll system, which will be familiar to you if you're working in FL

for writing sheet music, I recommend starting with [F]Musescore. I'll warn you right now that there aren't really any good notation editors and you're making lesser-of-evils decisions when you pick any of them, but it's probably the best compromise out there right now. it's the one I use when I need to hand something to a physical musician. you can also export pieces as midi, although there's better ways to do that lol

VSTs

if you can acquire Pianoteq, do that. if you feel uncomfortable with acquiring it, [F]Keyzone Classic is free and can sound pretty nice with a bit of work, but you really have to learn to work with it

if your workstation can handle it performance-wise, go pick up [F]Vital - Spectral Warping Wavetable Synth. there's tons of free presets for this out there and it sounds good. cool synth. Serum: Advanced Wavetable Synthesizer is also good and has plenty of presets, but it's on the pricy side, so consider how comfortable you are with [finding a friend to buy it for you]

[F]Decent Sampler doesn't do much out of the box, because it's just a tool for playing sample banks, but if you go to [F]Pianobook, you can find tons of weird and fun sample packs of just about everything you can imagine. sounds derived from folk instruments, industrial equipment, lego sets, stylophones, choirs, whatever. incredibly useful.

Valhalla VintageVerb. this is the reverb plugin. you want this one. [F]Valhalla Super Massive is also good but it's more focused on alien-sounding reverb effects and enormous spaces, so it's kind of got a niche use case and you should be a little careful with it

if you've heard a lo-fi hip hop song on youtube, it probably used [F]iZotope Vinyl. this one can save you a lot of time if you're going for that sound because it comes with all the little vinyl flourishes outside of compression (like dust crackling) that you'd otherwise have to add yourself

[F]Genny VST is advertised as giving a genesis/megadrive sound, but what actually makes it shine is that it's an actual synth emulating the YM2612 and SN76489 sound chips. this means you can create your own sounds that work within those specs, which is a lot of fun! definitely beats just using samples, if you ask me

HARSH VSTS THAT I PERSONALLY LIKE BUT WHICH ALSO MIGHT !!HURT!! YOU. SO BE VERY CAREFUL USING THESE.

[F]Tritik Krush is a bitcrushing plugin. it does a good job of bitcrushing and downsampling. I use it a lot in my songs, but you've really gotta know how to keep this one under control, because it's fully capable of making painful sounds on accident and can completely devour your mix

[F]FSA Latcher is a gorgeous noisebox. it screams in horrible ways and makes dying machine noises in various colours. this is the musical equivalent of working with radioactive material, so be extremely careful using this in anything you don't want to hurt the listener's ears

girlfriend just told me I have to recommend [F]Noise Engineering Ruina to you if I'm making a category with this heading. I don't personally use it, but she likes it (she's better at music than I am) and it's free, so you should go pick it up. "it annihilates sounds very deliciously" (maybe I should use it)

I had to euthanize my cat today. Not only that, it was the second cat I had to let go. And it's in a span of half a year.

I can't eat properly, my stomach hurts. I'm shaking like a leaf.

I keep thinking about all the things I have to endure throughout these 12 month, with troubles in my family, the deaths I had to go through, and, honestly, I'm kinda still surprised how my body is still holding up.

I feel drained. I feel like I've been wasting myself on wrong people so much that now I just have nothing left in me. I can't reciprocate with people who try to show their affection towards me because I feel sick. I feel like each time I'm just forcing every last bits out of me just to try and show I appreciate them, and it's still not enough. And I know that my attitude is distancing people from me.

And I feel sick seeing others having better job at this and earning their love for this.

I can't reach out to people because I know I won't be able to return the effort and they'll just grow tired of me.

I can't trust people. I don't want to trust people. But I also feel sick feeling like I'm a third wheel no matter where I turn. I feel sick seeing someone prioritizing someone else over me.

Honestly, I don't know what to do anymore.

I actually had Valere's family be the asshole family that controlled the village and abused their kids (so Valere's mom and aunt) as described in the first part of that chapter. I didn't like how it was turning out, and it was becoming a slog to write; there was a confrontation between Aelia and her parents bc she was grieving the loss of her baby, while they were both celebrating the honor publicly and berating her for not planning it properly so they could have another mage in the family... They were downright horrid, and I hated them. I eventually scrapped it bc it was starting to feel too forced and a different idea bit for later down the line, for when Valere meets her family.

I edit as I go. Sometimes when I get stuck, I'll switch to edit mode and try to polish things above/below where the block is. It sometimes works and knocks the words loose, or gives me an idea for later down the line.

Which means that when I get the chapter/fic into a good place, I tend to skim the parts I've gotten really familiar with and miss stuff; or there are extremely polished sections, and the more recently written spots are in a "I do words good" level of coherency. I try to make myself wait a day or so before posting, then one last read through on the website, but I get so antsy and end up posting almost immediately.

★ what was the scene you most wanted to write in [fic]? what was the hardest scene to write?

I answered this for An Honor in a different post, so I'm gonna expand this to do any from the rest of the Bloodlines series.

I think the scene I wanted to write the most was actually in Friends, of Zale being "kidnapped" by Rocky, based on his concept art of him being "eaten" and my playthrough with him being the one targeted exclusively (or at least the most). Zale being used as a squeaky toy still makes me giggle.

Hardest of the ones posted? Probably Reunion, bc I got stuck a couple of times with how quickly Yu'mi's mood dropped over someone possibly knowing Zale, then getting hostile bc she *really* doesn't like the system or Solstice Warriors bc of it.

I...don't last long posting on anon, honestly. All my smut fic were on anon, but I caved pretty quickly and took them off bc I was literally vibrating with the need to talk about my fic on here. And at the time most of what I was posting was just smut...

But if I managed to stick it out and keep some fic on anon...I know I've got some writing quirks, some odd turns of phrase bc I write late at night and my brain can't do words good. (I don't catch them on edits either...) So, I'm sure people would catch on fairly quickly.

Hightailed it to Best Buy the other night to take advantage of their Memorial Day sale. I've been needing a new laptop for a good while now because mine is slow, but Microsoft ending support for Windows 10 lit a fire under me 'cause the last thing I need is a virus slipping through an outdated security system later down the line. I've never actually bought a laptop before (not counting the time I bought one from my dad), so I did some research online beforehand. I found that 8GB of RAM is recommended for the average user, and 16GB for people who multitask to beat the band like me, so that's what I was looking for, but I decided to check the specs on my old laptop first to make sure I was for sure getting an upgrade. Y'all, I've been functioning on 4GB. 😭😂

So anyways, I found a laptop that's 15.5" (the same as my old one), has 16GB, was under $600 before tax, and had a keyboard with the number pad on the side (why the hell they make them without them is beyond me). The nearest Best Buy had 3 in stock, so I went to test out the keyboard in person, then bought it on the spot.

The first couple of days I spent getting my settings in order (changing the color theme, disabling Copilot and OneDrive, etc.), then installing all the software I need (except Windows Movie Maker because I may have found a decent replacement for it, but we'll see). And now I've transferred all my stories, photos, and music over to the new computer. I have all my videos of my family moved as well, and saved clips for videos/gifsets I'm working on I'll move later, 'cause some probably need to be deleted.

I'm sure I'll find more that needs to be done later, but now that all the most important stuff has been done, I can just enjoy having a shiny new fast laptop.

for a while i wrote a lot of "missing scene" wangxians where it's just like a moment or a handful of moments in the middle of the action, and i think all of them have implicit angsty endings: because they're just a missing scene, and there's no continuation, you understand that "having that conversation"/"kissing or almost kissing then" changes nothing in the greater arc... wei wuxian still gives jiang cheng his golden core, is still reviled and then killed... etc... but definitely the angstiest fic i've written remains flightless bird which cair read and then immediately blocked out of their mind forever

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

MOST Of my fics that aren't the above missing scene fics are happy endings. some faves include no other waters and to be a good companion, both post-tyk happy endings; at least in this lifetime, my most recent take on mdzs happy ending; a lot's gonna change, a wedding fic which was written in honor of most beloved friends mary + aubrey's actual real life wedding (and actual real life happy ending)

no fics "stolen" as in reposted wholesale (TO MY KNOWLEDGE?) but definitely i used to notice some plagiarism here and there when wangxian was really popping! mostly specific turns of phrase/passages but sometimes whole concepts. also one time i tweeted a funny hualian thread about hua cheng purring and then a couple days later i decided i want to whip it up into a fic and then like 3 hours after i posted the fic i went and checked the tag (these were the days that you could check the tag more than once a day) and someone had posted their own fic that was just beat-for-beat my original thread. uncredited obviously. lol

OR i love lianzi's approach to translation in her shl chinese restaurant au (ONE OF THE FUNNIEST FICS OF ALL TIME) where some of the text is written in chinese and you hover over it for the english translation

The rest is long - maybe rambling... just trying to put my thoughts down and I have a lot of them. Again, my few followers, I don't know if you'll read this... Sorry if you're tired of me talking about it... maybe I'll edit or delete it later... I'm hoping I'll feel better if I get this all out... But I'm so tired and frustrated. I get it if you don't read it.

This isn't to be trite about the issue... but I'm tired of being told the land of Israel is Palestine. That the people settling there took Palestine, which has always been there. It wasn't. History is clear on this. If people looked it up, they would see that. They would also see, Jews were always there. It was the land of Israel before it was Palestine.

But aside from that... let's say they are right (they aren't) for how long do we hold old borders? How far back are we all going to go? When do we all try to move forward rather than trying to go backwards? (this would be like all Americans leaving the United States and giving the land back to the Indigenous peoples - I'm sure people are going to be like, "YEAH!" but that's not logical or realistic. Like where are people going... And how far back do you 'go back where you came from'. Like, be serious).

Israel has given up land repeatedly and has offered more land for a two state solution and peace and been told no - repeatedly. Every ceasefire there is an attempt at peace. The ceasefires were always broken by the Palestinian leadership.

Since 2005, there have been NO Israelis or IDF in the state of Palestine. There is no occupying of Gaza. The infamous wall was put up because there were suicide bombers and attacks from Gaza and Israel wanted to defend itself better against those attacks.

Thousands of Palestinians work in Israel. Israel provides water and supplies to Gaza - even though it is under NO LEGAL OBLIGATION because this is suppose to be it's own country now. Palestinians elected Hamas as it's leaders and Hamas is worth millions if not more (money it gets from the international community, including America) and shares none of that money with Palestinians... who also have a majority that want to kill Jews and support Hamas. Hamas destroyed the water in Gaza and uses water pipes to build rockets. Hamas takes the fuel that is meant for the Palestinian people and uses it for the ventilation systems of their tunnels. (oh, those of you boycotting KFC, Hamas enjoys KFC too! There's photographic evidence that).

And Genocide? The population in Gaza has grown. Apparently Israel is terrible at genocide and ethnic cleansing if the population numbers have grown. If you look back at the history of wars where Arab countries attacked Israel, IF Israel wanted to destroy the Palestinians, they would have in any of those battles.

I won't even get into the apartheid thing because it's already proven that Arabs and Muslims live in Israel - can vote and work and own property and become citizens and Palestinians can come and go and work there.

But let's talk about today, because everyone seems to are over talking about Oct. 7th (over it because you didn't even land on it, didn't even touch it before you were cheering on the 'rebellion' which featured burning people alive and raping dead bodies). You gave us no time to mourn that, to recover by the way. We barely even understood the full horror of it before being told we had no right to condemn it.

You call for a ceasefire - because you don't want bloodshed. It's terrible. And it is. Death is no joke and isn't something to be celebrated (except perhaps by the rest of the world when it's Jewish babies, as we witnessed. Thanks for that by the way... but tell me again how you'll 'punch a Nazi' as you stand next to the person with the swastika).

Israel is doing the best it can to keep civilian deaths to a minimum while trying to remove Hamas. Hamas uses Palestinians as human shields. They don't care about civilians. So you're answer is for a ceasefire to stop the killing. So... Israel pulls back and Hamas attacks again. And again. And again. ANY other country would be within its rights to attack a country that is attacking them... Hamas is a terrorist organization and also the governing body (voted by Palestinians). Israel has the right to defend itself and to remove Hamas to keep its people safe. People want to shout that the attacks are a genocide right now... this is a war - a war Israel did not start and has been working hard for YEARS to stop and avoid since the British gave a tiny piece of land to Jewish people (Did you know that the Arabs were offered a bigger piece of land for their own country at the same time Israel was offered to Jews and they said "NO, we will remove the Jews and take it all", and the Mufti told the Arabs to leave the area because they were going to drive the Jews into the sea and the Arabs would have it ALL... Didn't work out that way. Also, "From the River to the Sea" is a throwback to the 'drive them into the sea' and calls for the genocide of Israel and Jews. Israel didn't kick out the Arabs - there are Arabs there now who will attest to this - the Arab League told them to leave in preparation for taking it all back.)

thoughts on video game event before I eat lunch and get back to work:

I've never played much of the Metroid games (and I haven't returned to Prime 1 Remastered since the stream I had for it a while ago) but Prime 4 looks gorgeous. It's already looking like it will be a fitting swan song for the original Switch with visuals alone, and I'm really digging how this game looks. I also love seeing footage run surprisingly smooth on that aging Tegra hardware (as someone who still loves my SHIELD and has been happily using it since 2018) while some of the later games in the direct like Tomodatchi Life are chugging at times.

That game lending system is confusing for me. It's also giving me serious Xbox One game-lending flashbacks, and seeing people hesitantly nodding their heads at the idea of what sounds like a similar idea is... concerning? Again though, their explanation of it was really confusing and hard for me to digest, so I think I'm gonna refrain from completely writing it off until it's out in the wild or they give better info.

Probably won't bother with grabbing the "Today" app (I deleted their glacial music app a while ago), but I'm not surprised to see them try their hand at the idea. They're probably big enough where it still beats making an official bluesky account or having to deal with the whims of clown-run social media/youtube. if I'm personally making a jump to having my own websites again and cutting out the middlemen, then I think it makes sense to see them try a similar move as well.

This presentation was overall what I expected for something that was released not long before their next system is supposed to get a broader unveil (also on that note, if switch 2 has kid icarus uprising remastered and/or 2 with mouse controls then i'll probably get an order in asap because I love kid icarus uprising)

I don't know anything about Rhythm heaven or rhythm games so I just looked at the announcement thinking "didn't we get one of these not long ago?" and then remembered I was thinking about the one that released on the Wii.

That's a Pokemon game alright! I'll maybe get it at some point, or not, I dunno. I wish I could hop into one of the many cars and drive around the city while humans and pokemon hop out of the way, fade out or become stone statues when i try to run into them, but this game already looks like it's going to make my switch explode as it is so I can only dream. Still have yet to see a human NPC immediately capture my heart like Briar did, will be sure to update if that impossible feat happens.

A writing practice based on a server im on

(before this, small thing, were all friends and no one was like (to my knowledge) legitimately upset by this stuff, this is also a dramatization of the events) This is also a writing practace because im not the best at writing so lmk if you have any suggestions :D I'll add a link when i write more

I (SedraMoon) won (and lost) the Roosle server war, heres how.... I was just the average player, getting a base, material's, making allies and enemies, when the owner of the server started streaming. Everyone on this server are friends (even though its public, its pretty small) So i know the owner (I watched his streams before he even made the server) and he was just doing normal stuff. He was trying to find the end portal (which other people had already done) but he said it was for the experience. He struggled, a lot, so i offered to message our friend, Kenobi, who i knew had found the portal. The owner, Roosle, then said that Ken being on was the last thing he wanted which was...weird but i ignored it Eventually Roosle gave up and asked a friend to teleport him to the end (we have add-ons, that will be important later) Then he flew over to Kenobis enderman farm, i assumed he was gonna use it until he puled out tnt and blew parts of it up. It was on Twitch so i clipped it and sent it to Ken. I informed Roosle what i had done but my twitch glitched out and i couldnt hear if he responded. When i got back he was ending stream and said he would be in the servers vc if anyone wanted to talk. I joined and he called me a snitch, saying that theres no way i actually told Ken, to prove him wrong i sent a screenshot of the messages. I am a business person, I value money and i value my deals, so when he threatened to end our business partnership i had to think. I offered to delete to messages, Ken hadnt responded yet so he probably hadnt even see them and that got Roosle to agree to consider not destroying our partnership if i did so.

I deleted the messages and sent another screenshot, we spoke for a little while and Roosle admitted he just did it to make the server more interesting since the events he was hosting were kinda flops (though they were really fun). Later on, Ken joined the call as well, This is when i had a moral dilemma, do i tell Kenobi and risk destroying my partnership? Ken would never know i knew who did it (unless he went and found the stream) but my morals shone through. So i sent Kenobi a mesage, telling him not to say anything outloud but his farm was blown up, i sent him the clip and he decided to pretend that he just noticed what happened to the farm.

Roosle started lying out of his ass, It was honestly kinda funny to watch, Ken started dropping hints that he knew Roosle did it. Roosle messaged me on the server, saying that he knew i told him, which i denied of course.

Eventually Ken just out right asked him if he did it, telling Roosle that he knew it was him several times before Roosle finally admitted to doing it. A few other people were in call (all of which i informed of the situation privately)

Ken threatened Roosle and said he would come back in half an hour before leaving call. We joked about how he would destroy Roosles base (which he couldnt really do since we have a claim system on the server) before realizing he was afk. When he finally came back, he declared war.

Because the reality is that there has never been a point that only one "era" of sprites was used, some screenshots in between dates will be tagged with multiple builds
