Welcome, scumbags from all corners! Yes, even you, spotty - get over 'ere. Why? Because with a new year comes a new round of our fantastic fest! The fifth one in a row!

To get you all in the mood and brainwash you into taking part, over the next couple of months we'll be sharing the opinions and experiences of scumbags who've taken part in our previous fests as we count down to the start of this year's.

Hello, hello! Deya here, sharing some thoughts on our little Rik and Ade fest! :)

I initially approached R about this idea because I adore our fandoms and the small, yet very close-knit community we have around these shows. As a creator that churns out art and fic under the influence of a time crunch, due to fest deadlines, I thought it would be very fitting that we had our very own fandom festival to apply this pressure on my and other creators’ schedules! This way, I can actually force myself to create MORE content for these fandoms I love so dearly. Well, that… but honestly, it was mostly because I also thought we needed a little fest in our community to celebrate one another, share ideas, and actually have a dedicated time for such creativity to flourish. Aside from the integrity of a structured fest, the outcome of this event allows us fans to look forward to the future of our space. If we create at least one or two more works each year for the shows we love, then we can rest assured that we will always have some new fanwork to look forward to!

When you dwell in niche fandoms, it’s always tough finding a large number of fanworks to keep us entertained; and this is particularly disheartening when the people interacting with the fanwork aren’t creators themselves, or don’t feel capable of formulating the fanfic or fanart that lurks in their brains. So if we have a fest dedicated to creating for these niche shows, we are constantly creating for ourselves and all our lovely friends that like to keep up with the newest silly little fics and silly little doodles of our favourite, bastard boys.

Plus, our fest is the perfect opportunity for these friends to come share those ideas in hopes that they get picked up and turned into a real fanwork! Overall, the whole point of the fest is to create community, and that’s ultimately what we all benefit from! We’re here to share thoughts, inspire one another, and equally push each other to make ideas into reality. The whole fest idea is also a lot of fun, because reading the witty prompts we all come up with each year is exciting on its own. And you just never know when you’ll find prompts that you thought only you had considered, so seeing someone else yearn for the same tropes that you’ve always dreamed of is an extremely gratifying experience.

In the end, I just wanted us to have a space each year to have fun, create and just look forward to sharing in the love of the worlds Rik and Ade created all those years ago. A safe space where we can be loud and silly together. I’ve added my own silly little prompts to the fest, and it’s always so lovely to see them get picked up, and even more exciting to see what people create out of these prompts! I’ve also directly participated last year and I hope I get to participate some more in the coming years! Time will always be mein enemy, but if a prompt really strikes my fancy, I just might work my schedule around creating fanwork for us, haha.

Hearing the feedback, seeing the joy and the love our members have for this fest is very rewarding! Last year we probably had the largest turnout and it made us feel so honoured! We hope this fest continues running for many years to come, and that everyone keeps enjoying the chaos.

I am still struggling with the fifth Silent Hill 2 commentary; the video I recorded last week (4/30) also isn't usable. Like, maybe I'll post it on Patreon as an extra at some point, but it is not the level of excellence we strive for here at Cleolinda Industries. Within hours of that, April's parting shot was to knock me down with another head cold, BUT, now that I have escaped its grip (April's, not the cold's. Ableism but make it leftist

Maybe I'll think of a catchier title later but rn I need to talk about this before I boil away with rage.

Context: someone in my local queer community FB group asked for volunteer opportunities. They expressed particular interest in working with the elderly or "people who need the most help". There were only a couple suggestions when I saw the post so I added mine, that there's several underserved young (younger than elderly anyway) queer people in our community who are severely disabled and housebound. I'm one of them though I didn't mention it but the Leftist Bully knows this.

Another disabled group member I've interacted with before thanked me for bringing this up and I felt good about it until a couple days later when I got a new notification. LB, as I'll call them, was smugly concerned that we (me and my Disabled Acquaintance) were taking resources from queer elders.

Point #1. We weren't using any resources, we were just expressing a community need to someone who asked who in the community has needs...

LB continued that there are "so many" resources we could be using instead which is news to me! They then made a point to tag both me and DA and tell us that "if we're so lonely why don't we just meet up with seniors". I considered going over point by point why they were being ignorant at best but I decided to save my energy and politely asked them not to speak so condescendingly about topics they aren't familiar with. Cue the laugh react. So we're not even pretending to care anymore, great.

They respond with a lengthy paragraph about how they are qualified to determine who gets resources or not because of all the organizing they do. They insisted again that there are other resources, and pay attention to this, "for young queers". Dude... There sure are resources for young queers but

Point #2. THAT'S NOT WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT YOU CHUCKLEFUCK. We were specifically talking about housebound queer people who aren't old enough for social security resources.

Point #3. You can't cry tone policing when you were the one who butted into a conversation to "correct" someone over what was allegedly a resource management dispute. I mean apparently you can and they did but it's pretty ridiculous

Re: citing their community organizing record and heavily implied that DA and I are not contributing to the same degree

Point #4a. DA and I are both very active in disability organizing. We both run pages/groups for raising awareness and connecting people to resources as well as one on one assisting people.

4b. We're both severely disabled and housebound, that kind of gets in the way of a lot of activism. I used to do a lot more when my health was better.

4c. Leftists like to talk big, "your productivity doesn't define your worth" until someone isn't able to do whatever type of labor that supposedly makes people respectable.

Point #5. Concern trolling. If they really cared they would have kindly directed me to some concrete resources instead of lecturing me to shut up

Point #6. They didn't have a problem with the person who brought up volunteering at the animal shelter.

Point #7. LB requests rides from the community on a weekly basis. The community rallied around them when they lost their home to a fire last year. They are absolutely in their right to do this! It's just telling how it's ok for them to ask for help. And to top it off I've been consistently signal boosting them and recommending their freelance services, expending my limited resources to help them. I thought we were becoming friends.

Tarakudo Hanafuda

Hey Guys, I'm getting ready to launch my first Kickstarter. It was supposed to launch several months ago, but life got in the way, so here we are. I'm raising money to do a run of Hanafuda cards from the Jackie Chan Adventures Cartoon. My goal was to completely recreate the deck as seen in the show, and I did! There were only a handful of cards actually shown on screen, but I did what I could, and put together a full 52 card set. A standard hanafuda deck has 40 cards, and I added a few extra suits to bring the total up to match western decks. All of this info is in the kickstarter page, along with anything else I thought was important when I wrote it. This is just supposed to be a little post to gauge interest, and get the word out before I officially launch the project this weekend.

It would mean a lot to me if you could signal boost this, keep it tagged for JCA and Hanafuda, or even kickstarter, or any other crowdfunding tags you might have, reply and respond to it, and spread it as far and as wide as you can! I'll be doing a follow-up post in a few days, and a ton of posts about the project for the entire month it's active. Shinra Holiday Party is an annual Final Fantasy VII event to celebrate the winter holidays with our favorite Shinra Personnel, be it Turks, SOLDIERs, or board members!  We'll post a week's worth of prompts, and you see if any of those prompts inspire a fanwork.

💡 How do the prompts work?

Basically, there's a post that will have the days listed with the prompt for each day.  You do not have to fill all of the prompts to participate, and if you want to post them out of order, please feel free!  However, please note that if you post them out of order, they will be scheduled to be reblogged on the event blog on the "correct" day, just to kind keep things together.

💡 How do I participate?

By posting a work either here on tumblr or to our AO3 collection!  If you're posting here on tumblr, be sure to either use the #shinraholidayparty tag or ping us (@shinraholidayparty) so that you can get reblogged to the event blog.

💡 What kind of work is allowed?
