why was the episode even called "seismic shifts"?

there weren't really monumental changes for characters. i mean there were changes but they didn't feel monumental. eddie didn't really choose himself to stay in LA. chimney's feelings about possible position as a captain? never talked about. why the fuck athena sold the house? never explained. maddie giving birth? out of nowhere. she was pregnant for like 3-5 months. nothing really felt like anything. at least for me. shit just happened and that's it. take it or leave it. and there wasn't even an earthquake (that was in previous episode).

that's not seismic shifts. that's shaking the dices and going with whatever the shit rolls.

Jinx's death really bothers me. Besides the giant "The suicidal characters happy ending is getting to die" problem. There also the problem they already did the "redeemed in death" thing with Viktor.

The whole "bad guy turned hero by dying to save others" thing, that's what Viktor had to do, and it made a lot of sense for his story, because the main conflict couldn't be resolved without him dying, there couldn't have been a happy ending with him alive so that's what needed to happen.

But that's just not the case with Jinx. She could have lived, and it could still be a happy ending. It feels like they just didn't want to write a severely mentally ill person have a happy ending, I think because she would have still been mentally ill thus not "really happy"

"But she would've been arrested." We see Sevika literally became a council member, so I'm guessing they showed some leniency on Zauns criminals, so I think that's kind of a mute point. Plus, she's the little sister of the girlfriend of the woman in charge, she'd definitely get nepo perks

Like! I can't even feel sad about Shang Chao because the whole time I was too busy being suspicious of him. Why was he so enthusiastic about Yang Cheng becoming a hero? Why did he ask Xia Qing out? I don't get his deal. And as we follow the protagonist I don't feel like I can trust him. The only time I felt something for him was when he secretly put on the E-Soul helmet and I was like "oh, does he wish he was a hero too?" That's the first time we follow his POV!

Which means we know nothing about him on purpose. The story is written so that we don't follow Shang Chao's POV, he doesn't explain himself, we don't know what he's thinking, nothing.

Now he's dead.

This wasn't a very impactful death to me compared to how they handled Moon. I might also be getting desensitized to death in this story 😭 I think it's written to keep him mysterious though, so I'm looking forward to next week's ep to see if 1) maybe he's NOT dead but he's in the hospital, or 2) we uncover some of his motives after his death.

I do feel a little bad for being overly suspicious of him now that he's dead. but like. nothing is confirmed nor denied yet yknow?
