if you think having mental struggles makes you weak and you bash someone for having them, do not fucking talk to me.

the place kuroba and karamatsu go on their first date to is a pretty expansive garden and requires a lot of walking so the outfit they go with is on more casual comfy side. they definitely put how comfortable it is to move in to the test after having to outrun the rest of the sextuplets trying to sabotage kara's confession plans.

Brief rant but there is something so appalling to me when I see a writer use AI-generated images (no I won't call it art because it isn't, tyvm) for the header/cover of their writing/fic.

People don't want their work scraped. Be it writing, visual arts, music or voices even. But then go and use AI-generated shit out of an art field they don't actively contribute to. It disgusts me. Have you no conscience or shame?

Most writers are actively against the use of AI. Many people don't want to read fics written by AI.

So for the love of god...

If you're against AI - fucking be against it in all art forms and not just your own. It's hypocritical af!

I've seen people misuse some words so I wanted to clarify them. Starting with pedophilia, which the sources gathered by Wikipedia state they would like people to stop misusing the word.

Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist or psychologist nor am I studying to be one. I just like learning things, especially about psychology, and reading the DSM-5.

My thoughts are in parentheses for those who don't want to read them.

Pedophilia, according to the sources gathered on Wikipedia:

"is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children" and "psychiatric diagnostic criteria for pedophilia extend the cut-off point for prepubescence to age 13"

(If someone's attracted to teenagers older than that, that's called ephebophilia although it "strictly denotes the preference for mid-to-late adolescent sexual partners, not the mere presence of some level of sexual attraction. It is not a psychiatric diagnosis"). 

Wiki also notes that the common use of pedophilia:

"conflates the sexual attraction to prepubescent children with the act of child sexual abuse and fails to distinguish between attraction to prepubescent and pubescent or post-pubescent minors. Such use should be avoided, because although some people who commit child sexual abuse are pedophiles, child sexual abuse offenders are not pedophiles unless they have a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children, and many pedophiles do not molest children"

(AGAIN, NOT EVERY CHILD MOLESTER IS A PEDOPHILE AND NOT EVERY PEDOPHILE IS A CHILD MOLESTER. If you're talking about someone who actually sexually abused a real child, please please please call them a child molester and not a pedophile).

There's also Pedophiliac Disorder, which the DSM-5 differentiates from pedophilia. In order to be diagnosed with Pedophiliac Disorder according to the DSM-5:

"A. Over a period of at least 6 months, recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children (generally age 13 years or younger).

B. The individual has acted on these sexual urges, or the sexual urges or fantasies cause marked distress or interpersonal difficulty.

C. The individual is at least age 16 years and at least 5 years older than the child or children in Criterion A.

Note: Do not include an individual in late adolescence involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a 12- or 13-year-old."

Also according to the DSM-5:

"Attempting to diagnose pedophilic disorder at the age at which

it first manifests is problematic because of the difficulty during adolescent development in differentiating it from age-appropriate sexual interest in peers or from sexual curiosity"

(In other words, stop calling middle schoolers pedos, stop calling 18 year olds dating someone less than 5 years younger than them pedos, and stop clutching your pearls over high school teens not 18 being sexually active because it's normal and healthy even if they can't vote yet; age of consent = / = age of majority).

And the DSM-5 notes that:

"the highest possible prevalence for pedophiliac disorder in the male population is approximately 3%-5%. The population prevalence...in females is even more uncertain, but it is likely a small fraction of the prevalence in males".

(In other words, it's unlikely you'll come across someone with the disorder and it's not as common as people are dramatically panicking about. And antis, stop assuming proshippers would harm children, because it's not as common as you were mislead into believing and most people believe in the same things proshippers do they just don't call themselves that. These assumptions are just paranoia and it's not healthy to that paranoid, especially when you have little to no evidence to justify that paranoia).

i just. can't understand people here. we all agree factory farming is horrific. we all at least seem to know that poultry in particular is awful, the living conditions of the animals shouldn't be legal. or at least, i hope we agree, and i sure hope we would if any research was done about it at all.

but as soon as i say "hey, maybe don't support that industry directly as often" it's things like. "we live under capitalism and there's no way out of that". it's "we're disabled/poor/anything and not a single one of us have a choice ever and we simply must eat meat as often as we do, every single one of us." it's "it wouldn't make a difference anyway, the corporations are so huge."

okay. go buy a box set of harry potter books. if it's just a drop in the bucket. go buy from chick-fil-a. what, that's against your morals? well!

i'm not against eating meat as a whole, even if i don't do it myself. i recognize that for a lot of people, it's not all that feasible to reduce meat consumption. but i also know that americans get far more protein than they need, on average, and only 5% of americans get enough fibre. i know that meat alternatives are getting cheaper and more available.

i know that even if people ate less meat it would make a difference. that's all i want. just stop directly giving money to an extraordinarily inhumane practice all the fucking time. look into what you're spending your money on. yes, it's hard to look at. it's hard to see just how cruel poultry farming is. that doesn't mean you get to just look away.
