Day 1, 2021 . Swim assessment with @coachjotridot & @s_cranson - a hard feat with only a couple of hours of sleep, a 6am wake up call & wind chill temps at close to freezing on a outdoor swim 🥶 . But, meeting these ladies and being accountable makes it a nonnegotiable for me. It wasn’t the most improved of swims but enough to increase my intensities in upcoming training days. . 2500M ☑️ and an awesome time with my teammates and coach/friends. Enjoyed laughing about how hard it was to get out of the pool and freezing together in a frenzy to change and warm up. 😂 . Looking ahead to the New Year? Or counting down the workouts of 2020?Or maybe they both coincide with the new @bettydesigns drop?? 🤔🤩 . Monday 3000M 🏊🏼‍♀️ ☑️ . I was underfueled and undercaffeinated but I pushed the mental strength gears that I so badly need to sharpen. Went over my workout by 1000M to work on my stroke, pull, position, yadda yadda. Used fins for the first time towards the end and whoa! 😲 . I kept repeating to myself “don’t quit when you’re tired, quit when you’re done” over and over and I swear it propelled me to finish stronger than I began. . First assessment on the bike tomorrow. I’m kinda nervous! But I’ll be using that mantra again as FOR SURE! . It was a good Sunday 🦋 . . Y’all know my training is not exactly going to plan lately. But I’ve been at the very least trying to keep my weekly rides in (and started up a strength program). . The weekly long ride I’ve turned into a race with myself each week. 30 miles is the distance and I try to beat the time of completion every week on the same trail. Every week, I’ve shaved off a few minutes and today I wanted to get as close to 1:50 as possible (1:56 is my PR thus far). Doesn’t seem fast but with unexpected stops and traffic on the trail, you just never know. . Today, the trail was completely under water. I tried another direction and it was closed. But some guy suggested an empty stretch of road North of the freeway so I went up and rode loops. Not very fun but I got it done. My watch then died at 22.68 miles 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I had to run the Strava app on my phone to make sure I got it 😂. I didn’t beat the time, I went over at 2:02 but with all the kids, loose dogs, walkers and bike trailers to pass, I’d say it’s alright. 😂 . The highlight of the day though was taking my little one down to cheer @jetjanie13 as she raced her first Ironman distance in honor of her dad ❤️ - got to aeee her along her first run loop and at the start of the second. She looked awesome! Spending time with @coachjotridot is always so fun and fills my heart, that was a highlight!! Love that girl! 🦋☠️❤️(btw, she rode the entire 112 bike distance with Jeanette. She’s so badass) . Hoping for an even keel week with no crazy 2020like 💩. Maybe, just maybe, I can get back on track and try running again. It’s been over 2 weeks! 😳 . What a week! 🤪 . 3rd week of virtual learning in the bag. 💪🏼👊🏼Things are running more smoothly and the littles are becoming more and more independent. . . I tabled strength training the first 2 weeks of school because there was just not enough hours in the day. I could not make it work but did manage all the Tri training on schedule. 😁 . Swipe for a week’s worth of training. ➡️➡️➡️➡️ . This week, my body told me it was not pleased with that decision. On Monday, I got my swim in late in the day after Labor day family fun. . I stacked my workouts on Tuesday, threshold ride and easy run, making them a brick. A strange sensation in my leg that I couldn’t pinpoint over the weekend reared it’s head after the run. So, I decided I’d put running on hold until I figured it out. Wednesday, I did strength training and realized it was #sciatica (not my first time) - a shooting but hard to pinpoint discomfort running from deep in the glute, down the hamstring and even the leg and foot. . Thursday, a super early and EPIC group ride with my @bettydesigns sisters which gave me super powers & energy the rest of the day. . And then today, where I forced myself to roll, yoga, stretch and massage with @therabody before getting out to the pool turned out to be a fabulous idea. Sciatica is at bay! Yay! . So weeee to the weekend and attempting the skipped run tomorrow 🤞🏼(lots of soccer to maneuver workouts with too!) ⚽️ . Have an awesome weekend all! Running into the week and closer to home like... . . Colorado... We spent the most nights here and as a result, slept more and did less. Go figure. Lol. We hiked Fish Creek Falls and tubed the Yampa in Steamboat Springs, visited Garden of the Gods, The Royal Gorge and got my trail run in at Colorado Springs. (I’m sure we did more but I took less picture and I can’t remember much anymore🤪) . The highlight was getting a night out for dinner (sans kids and HUGE van) to meet up with an old Houston friend in SS. . We are over 4,500 miles in on this road trip, a PR for this crew (personal record 🤣) and we are still not home. However, we are closer and the realities of what’s to come in this Fall is weighing heavy on me. . I’ll be enjoying this last vacation as a rest day as I’m sure I’ll be needing it. 🤪 . Wyoming... It wouldn’t be exciting if the GPS didn’t send us down a dark, narrow winding, narrow road only to find out that it was a closed road and that we’d have to loop back around for another 20 miles AND get pulled over 2 miles from our destination. At midnight. 😳 Luckily, we got off with a warning and when we woke up, our hotel was situated in the most beautiful place ever - Teton Village. 😍 . We started at Jackson Hole, drove up grand Teton Natl Park, Yellowstone and saw the Old Faithful geyser (though it was puny when we visited), the Grand Prismatic Spring (we missed catching it’s rainbow colors because the sun was setting). . Got my run in the next morning...first up the mountain and quickly pivoting when I realized I was being ridiculous 🤪 - running straight uphill on a hiking trail is not the wisest. 😖 The alternative was beautiful and did. It disappoint in views. 😍 . Last pic was impromptu pull over at the Burger Barn food truck on the way out of the state. Burgers for 2 (while everyone slept) turned into burgers for 10 and some play time too. . . Still keeping up with the #bunsgunsabschallenge and I’ve now run in: AZ, UT, ID, WY... still on the road.
