Continuation of my last post. But I’m sure you’re wondering what’s after JET?
Well it’s interesting.
I loved my town a lot. But there aren’t many job opportunities here.
I did accept a job that places me about an hour from here.
Wiiiith Interac. If you know you know. But if you’re lost, they’re a dispatch ALT company. And dispatch ALT companies don’t have the best reputation for reasons.

I do have to relocate to where this position is located. But I’m glad it’s not too far from here.
Buut there is a twist! Or an interesting development? But it makes things twisty for sure. XD

Around the same time I applied for Interac, I also applied for a government position in a town a bit closer.
The process has been agonizingly slow. But I’m in the final stages of the application process and currently waiting to hear when the final interview is.
And thanks to a connection I have, rumor is the interview is likely a formality at this point.
Buuut nothing official yet. However, given that we have already met once and the number of emails we have now exchanged (50ish) and they have gone above and beyond to try and figure out visa stuff and other things, I would be shocked if it didn’t go through.
If it goes through, I’ll have to move again. But the job is really good so it’d be worth it.

In the mean time, for the next 2 days, I will just be taking a final load of things up to the new apt, final bit of tidying up the old place, and enjoying my town’s local festival one more time.

The past 5 years have been a wild ride. But I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
If you’re thinking about JET, do it. It really is life changing.
My small group of followers, thank you for sticking around for all this time.
There are ups and downs. And being an ALT is not for everyone. And that’s okay!
I generally loved it and I was willing to keep doing it a bit longer even if it meant a pay cut.
But I’m also realizing there are other things I want to try. And if this other job doesn’t go through, I can still work towards finding a similar job in the future.
It’s hard saying goodbye. Even though I’m not moving too far, this place has been my home for 5 years now. It might as well be home now.
As for this blog, I’m not quitting it. But as to whether it’ll be about ALTing or general Japan stuff, that depends on what happens in the next few weeks.
But for now, goodbye JET. Goodbye my dear town and friends. And possibly goodbye to teaching English. It’s been a fun ride.
