Tomorrow, Wednesday, 4 October 2023, FEMA will send a test of the nationwide emergency alert system through every cell tower in America at 11:20am PST/2:20pm EST. A backup date of 11 October is possible if needed.

I know it's been posted but I didn't share that post so I'm making a new one.

At 2:20 PM ET every single cellphone in the United States will go off for am emergency alert as FEMA tests the emergency alert system. You can not opt out of it. If you have a secret cell phone because you're in an abusive situation, the only way to keep your phone from going off is to turn it off completely.

This will also effect all TVs and Radios so if you have noise sensitivity, please keep your earbuds on hand.

I am trying to craft a new acronym

Here is what I have so far

"PAAW" and "PAAM"

Which stand for "Perceived as a woman" and "Perceived as a man"

Mostly I want to create a term that can be used the way people use "DFAB" etc. but for when they're literally just talking about appearance/presentation and social stuff, which is very trans unfriendly.

PAAM/PAAW Pros:

Groups together people of different genders based on common experiences with the binary/cisnormative world (i.e. "PAAW people may experience ABC because of sexism")

Discusses gender assumptions without repeating the assumption

Doesn't obliquely refer to genitals (contrast with DFAB/DMAB)

Understands that gender transition is real and does affect the way people percieve and thus treat you (contrast with DFAB/DMAB)

"PAAM" would be pronounced "Pam" which is delightfully gender non-conforming

Cons:

The one thing I don't like about this is both terms sound exactly like other words ("paw" and "pam") which means it wouldn't be as distinct/useful to say outloud (Imagine someone saying "Paw experience sexism" What?)

If it sounds dumb to say people won't say it

Sounds relatively fine to me

"Those" is kind of clunky though which may make it hard to remember and hurt its chances of taking off

Plural only

PPAW would be pronounced "pee-paw" and that's dumb

PerAW & PerAM

"Perceived as a woman" etc.

Singular or plural

Unlike the rest of this list, can't be mixed up with "presenting"

Unfortunately my mouth refuses to say "per-aw". It just wants to say "opera" or "para."

So I'm rereading* EaC, and noticed that Cailu mocks Matt for repeating everything back whenever someone tells him something important (protagonist coded) by sarcastically suggesting he "scribe it into [Matt's] iPaw" for him. We know from the spice farming arc that the iPaw doesn't have a native text app, which raises the question: can Cailu give Quests? I like framing their mission to bring all the men together for a meeting as an out-of-game personal goal, which are a big part of how a lot of people play RPGs - doing things because they want to, not because the game says to - but Cailu just lectured Matt about how important Quests are to progress fast enough to stay alive. Could Matt's Party have gotten XP if Cailu had posted it as a Party Quest through the Adventurers Guild instead of just asking Matt personally?
