African poverty is partly a consequence of energy poverty. In every other continent the vast majority of people have access to electricity. In Africa 600m people, 43% of the total, cannot readily light their homes or charge their phones. And those who nominally have grid electricity find it as reliable as a Scottish summer. More than three-quarters of African firms experience outages; two-fifths say electricity is the main constraint on their business.
If other sub-Saharan African countries had enjoyed power as reliable as South Africa’s from 1995 to 2007, then the continent’s rate of real GDP growth per person would have been two percentage points higher, more than doubling the actual rate, according to one academic paper. Since then South Africa has also had erratic electricity. So-called “load-shedding” is probably the main reason why the economy has shrunk in four of the past eight quarters.
Solar power is increasingly seen as the solution. Last year Africa installed a record amount of photovoltaic (PV) capacity (though this still made up just 1% of the total added worldwide), notes the African Solar Industry Association (AFSIA), a trade group. Globally most solar PV is built by utilities, but in Africa 65% of new capacity over the past two years has come from large firms contracting directly with developers. These deals are part of a decentralised revolution that could be of huge benefit to African economies.
Ground zero for the revolution is South Africa. Last year saw a record number of blackouts imposed by Eskom, the state-run utility, whose dysfunctional coal-fired power stations regularly break down or operate at far below capacity. Fortunately, as load-shedding was peaking, the costs of solar systems were plummeting.
Between 2019 and 2023 the cost of panels fell by 15%, having already declined by almost 90% in the 2010s. Meanwhile battery storage systems now cost about half as much as five years ago. Industrial users pay 20-40% less per unit when buying electricity from private project developers than on the cheapest Eskom tariff.
In the past two calendar years the amount of solar capacity in South Africa rose from 2.8GW to 7.8GW, notes AFSIA, excluding that installed on the roofs of suburban homes. All together South Africa’s solar capacity could now be almost a fifth of that of Eskom’s coal-fired power stations (albeit those still have a higher “capacity factor”, or ability to produce electricity around the clock). The growth of solar is a key reason why there has been less load-shedding in 2024...
Over the past decade the number of startups providing “distributed renewable energy” (DRE) has grown at a clip. Industry estimates suggest that more than 400m Africans get electricity from solar home systems and that more than ten times as many “mini-grids”, most of which use solar, were built in 2016-20 than in the preceding five years. In Kenya DRE firms employ more than six times as many people as the largest utility. In Nigeria they have created almost as many jobs as the oil and gas industry.
“The future is an extremely distributed system to an extent that people haven’t fully grasped,” argues Matthew Tilleard of CrossBoundary Group, a firm whose customers range from large businesses to hitherto unconnected consumers. “It’s going to happen here in Africa first and most consequentially.”
Ignite, which operates in nine African countries, has products that include a basic panel that powers three light bulbs and a phone charger, as well as solar-powered irrigation pumps, stoves and internet routers, and industrial systems. Customers use mobile money to “unlock” a pay-as-you-go meter.
Yariv Cohen, Ignite’s CEO, reckons that the typical $3 per month spent by consumers is less than what they previously paid for kerosene and at phone-charging kiosks. He describes how farmers are more productive because they do not have to get home before dark and children are getting better test scores because they study under bulbs. One family in Rwanda used to keep their two cows in their house because they feared rustlers might come in the dark; now the cattle snooze al fresco under an outside lamp and the family gets more sleep.
...That is one eye-catching aspect of Africa’s solar revolution. But most of the continent is undergoing a more subtle—and significant—experiment in decentralised, commercially driven solar power. It is a trend that could both transform African economies and offer lessons to the rest of the world."

Urgent aid needed!
As many off you know I have shared @ashleymilesphil 's fundraiser here
Here is a post by @evpath providing proof of legitimacy. She is also #2 on this vetted list.
Since then the situation has become more urgent!
I have personally been in contact with Ashley who has shared their stories with me. (Documentation below)
Today I recived an urgent message
Tumblr media
id: I wanted to share an urgent update regarding our situation in Gorom refugee camp. Today, I attended a meeting with South Sudanese government officials and other authorities. They informed us that they do not want us in Gorom camp, claiming that UNHCR brought us here without their approval. Both the government and the local authorities stated that we must leave within ten days.
When we asked where they expect us to go, they made it clear that this is not up for negotiation it is an order. They had no concrete plan for our relocation but suggested Juba town, which, given our case profiles, is extremely unsafe for us. They also expressed frustration over the recent cut in U.S. funding, stating that they have lost jobs, and the only solution they see is for us to leave because they can’t offer any protection or support to continue keeping us here, ( remember we relocated from another camp called Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya last year 2024 in January and December of 2023 following alot of persecution and death to some of our fellows)
We are scheduled to meet with UNHCR on Monday, and we hope to have more information after that discussion. At this moment, we are uncertain about what to do next, but we wanted to keep you updated.
Please let me know if there are any possible avenues of support or advice. We appreciate your solidarity in these difficult times /end id
Here is some of their stories

ID:
SILENCED, STARVING, AND FORGOTTEN: THE REALITY OF QUEER REFUGEES IN EAST AFRICA
Our Journey from Uganda to Kakuma and Gorom: A Fight for Survival
We are a group of over 300+ LGBTQ+ refugees from across East Africa, including Uganda (60%), the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. We are here because our countries have criminalized our very existence.
We live together as a family, supporting one another in a world that wants to erase us. But every day, our numbers grow as more LGBTQ+ people flee the worsening violence in their home countries. We are running out of places to hide.
Why We Fled Uganda: The Brutal Reality of Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws
Uganda is one of the most dangerous places in the world for LGBTQ+ people. The Anti-Homosexuality Act has made our very existence a crime. This law imposes: • Life imprisonment for same-sex relationships. • The death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality” (which can simply mean being openly LGBTQ+). • 20-year prison sentences for anyone advocating for LGBTQ+ rights or providing support.
These laws have emboldened mobs, police, and even family members to attack, imprison, and kill us without consequence. Many of us were beaten, outed by neighbors, fired from jobs, or attacked by our own families.
We fled, hoping for safety. But instead, we found more suffering.
Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya: A Place of Violence, Not Refuge
Many of us arrived at Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, believing the United Nations (UNHCR) would protect us. Instead, we were hunted down by fellow refugees and local communities who saw us as a threat. • Hate-fueled Attacks: We were beaten, raped, and even burned alive in targeted attacks. • No Protection from UNHCR: Despite our cries for help, UNHCR ignored us. The police sided with our attackers, refusing to intervene. • Starvation and Disease: Food rations were barely enough to survive. The water was often contaminated, making us sick. Those of us with HIV/AIDS had no access to life-saving medication.
After years of relentless violence, some of us made the painful decision to leave Kakuma only to find even greater danger elsewhere.
Gorom Refugee Camp, South Sudan: From One Warzone to Another
In 2024, a group of us fled Kakuma, hoping for safety in another neighboring country. We arrived at Gorom Refugee Camp in South Sudan, only to find ourselves in a warzone. • Homosexuality is criminalized in South Sudan, meaning if we are caught, we could be executed. • We live in hiding, terrified that any moment, someone might betray us. • We are starving. Many days, we go without food. Some of us have collapsed from hunger. • We have no clean water. We are forced to drink from contaminated sources, leading to cholera, typhoid, and severe diarrhea. • We have no medical care. Those of us with HIV/AIDS are at extreme risk without treatment. Many have already died. • We have no shelter. When the rains come, our makeshift homes are washed away, leaving us exposed to attacks. • Our people are being killed. Lesbians are being raped as a “corrective” measure. Transgender refugees are brutalized. We have lost friends, their bodies left in the dirt.
We left Uganda and Kenya, searching for a safe place to exist. But nowhere is safe for us.
A Lost Hope: The US Resettlement That Never Came
For years, we believed we had a way out. Many of us had undergone all the necessary interviews, background checks, and paperwork to be resettled in the United States.
We were waiting for our final medical screenings before we could fly to safety. We were finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
But then, Donald Trump came into power.
Under his administration’s policies, the refugee resettlement program was drastically cut—and our applications were terminated overnight. Years of waiting, hoping, and preparing for a safe future were destroyed in an instant.
We were left stranded. Many of us had already left Kakuma, believing our flights were just weeks away. When the program was canceled, we had nowhere to go forced to remain in South Sudan, trapped in a warzone where we are hunted down simply for existing.
Hope on the Horizon: Canada’s Lifeline for Some of Us
Despite the devastation of the US refugee program’s collapse, there is still hope. • In November 2024, at least 25 LGBTQ+ members from our community were resettled to Canada. • For those of us who had our files at the US Embassy, Canada has offered a second chance. The files are being recalled and resubmitted to the Canadian Embassy for consideration. • Interviews with the Canadian Embassy are ongoing, but it is important to note that this is a very slow process that could take years.
Though resettlement is uncertain for most of us, knowing that some of our friends have found safety gives us the strength to keep fighting.
A Deadly Blow: Loss of USAID HIV/AIDS Treatment
Before, many of us relied on free monthly HIV/AIDS treatment provided by USAID. This was a lifeline, allowing those living with HIV to stay alive despite the hardships.
However, under Trump’s administration, this channel of aid was blocked, cutting us off from the medication we desperately need. Since then, many of our community members have died from preventable complications. Others are suffering, their health deteriorating rapidly.
This decision was a death sentence for many of us.
The Forgotten Children: Innocent Lives at Risk
Among us are children many of whom were born as a result of rape and forced marriages. These children are the forgotten victims of this crisis. • They have no food. • They have no medical care. • They have no future.
The harsh conditions in the camp expose them to deadly diseases like malaria, cholera, and typhoid. Just last year, we lost at least three children because we could not access the medicine to save them.
These children did not choose this suffering. But they are suffering nonetheless.
Why We Need This Website: A Voice for the Silenced
For too long, our struggles have been hidden. The world does not see us. The world does not hear us. This website will change that.
It will serve as: 1. A Beacon of Awareness: We will document our suffering, so the world cannot ignore us any longer. 2. A Lifeline for Support: This platform will allow us to raise funds for survival food, clean water, medical care, and shelter. 3. A Call to Action: We need the international community, activists, and human rights organizations to stand with us before it is too late.
Our Immediate Needs: Your Help Saves Lives
✅ FOOD – We are starving. Many of us go days without eating. ✅ CLEAN WATER – Contaminated water is killing us. ✅ SHELTER – We need a safe place to sleep, away from violence. ✅ MEDICATION – Those living with HIV/AIDS and other illnesses need life-saving treatment. ✅ MOSQUITO NETS – Malaria is one of the biggest killers in our camp. ✅ SANITARY PRODUCTS – Many of us, especially women, have no access to basic hygiene.
Final Plea: Don’t Let Us Be Forgotten
We need you. We cannot do this alone. Please stand with us before it is too late.
🌈 Hope is not lost. Together, we can make a difference. 🌈/end id

Moth of the Week
African Wild Silk Moth
Gonometa postica
Tumblr media
The African wild silk moth is a part of the family Lasiocampidae. It was first described in 1855 by Francis Walker. It is also known as the Brandwurm in its larval stage in Afrikaans, Kweena in its pupal stage in Tshwana, and Molopo moth/mot in English and Afrikaans.
Description The female of this moth is much longer and larger than the male due to having to carry eggs. The male is about half the size of the female and much thinner.
The female has a light brown abdomen with a dark brown thorax and head. The female’s forewings are striped light brown, dark brown, and gray. The hindwings are a yellow-brown with a dark brown edge.
The male has a dark body and wings with a transparent portion of the hindwing.
Female Forewing Range: 35–42 mm (
Male Forewing Range: 21–25 mm (
Diet and Habitat Larva of this species eat Acacia erioloba, A. tortilis, A. melifera, Burkea africana, Brachystegia spp., and Prosopis glandulosa. The larva will feed from the same tree it’s entire life unless there are two many other caterpillars. When there is a large number of caterpillars, they may defoliate the whole tree and the larva must move in order to not starve.
This moth mainly inhabits savannas with many Acacia trees, especially in drier areas. These moths contribute to the Acacia environment by providing food to predators and nutrients to plants through feces. Cocoons are usually found on Acacia tees.
Mating Males detect females’ mating pheromones with their antennae. Males fly to the females because the females are weighed down by the eggs. The female contains about 200 eggs which are laid on the food plant after fertilization. Eggs hatch in about two weeks. Eggs are laid in clumps and the newly hatched caterpillars grow as a group and become more solitary with time.
Predators This moth is preyed on by parasitic wasps and flies. These insects lay their eggs on the caterpillar and feed off of its resources until the moth larva cocoons. The parasites live off the cocoon and grow to adulthood while killing the pupa. Specifically, these larva are subject to parasitism by Diptera and Hymenoptera, the most common parasitoids being Palexorista species from the Tachinidae and Goryphus species from the Ichneumonidae.[6]
To combat external predators and weather, the caterpillars build a tough cocoon. Caterpillars and their cocoons are also covered in stinging hairs to deter predators from touching them. Female cocoons are larger than male cocoons.
Fun Fact In Madagascar, wild silk has been harvested for centuries, and this knowledge has been introduced to southern Africa. The cocoons are harvested commercially in Namibia, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa, and the species also occurs in Zimbabwe and Mozambique. They are difficult to harvest due to the cocoons being covered in calcium oxalate. Oxford University discovered and patented a method known as demineralizing using a warm solution of EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) that soften the cocoons by dissolving the sericin. This lets the silk unravel without weakening it.
- Wild African silk moth cocoons are also used as ankle rattles in southern Africa by San and Bantu tribes. They are filled with materials such as fine gravel, seeds, glass beads, broken sea shells, or pieces of ostrich eggshell.
- Furthermore, the cocoons have long been known to cause the death of cattle, antelope and other ruminants in the Kalahari. During drought periods, the cocoons are eaten, probably because they resemble acacia pods. The silk is indigestible and blocks the rumen of multiple-stomach animals, causing starvation.
- Finally, the protein found in this species’s slik contains many basic amino acids making it a potentially useful biomaterial in cell and tissue culture.

Residential Lifts: A Smart Upgrade for Modern Homes
Tumblr media
Modern homes are evolving, and so are the expectations of homeowners. In today’s fast-paced world, comfort, accessibility, and future-readiness are not just luxuries—they are essential. One home feature that is quickly gaining popularity for ticking all these boxes is the residential lift.
Whether you're building a new house or upgrading an existing one, installing a home lift can completely transform the way you live.
Why Residential Lifts Are Becoming Popular
1. Convenience at Its Best
One of the most obvious advantages of a residential lift is the ease of movement it provides. For multilevel homes, climbing stairs multiple times a day can become tiring, especially for seniors or those with mobility issues. A lift offers a smooth, effortless alternative, making everyday life more convenient for everyone.
2. Perfect for Aging in Place
More families are planning homes that grow with them. As we age, mobility challenges can make stairs a safety risk. Installing a residential lift ensures that your home remains accessible for years to come, allowing you to live independently in your own space.
3. Adds Value to Your Property
Home lifts are a smart investment. Not only do they make life easier, but they also increase the value of your property. A well-installed residential lift can make your home stand out to future buyers—especially those looking for accessibility or modern design elements.
4. Space-Saving and Stylish
Today’s residential lifts are designed to fit seamlessly into your home. With compact models available, even smaller houses can accommodate a lift without major construction. Plus, the modern design options enhance your home’s interior, making the lift both functional and visually appealing.
5. Enhanced Safety Features
Residential lifts are built with multiple safety systems like emergency stop buttons, backup power, auto-locking doors, and non-slip flooring. These features make them a secure option for families with children or elderly residents.
Are Residential Lifts Affordable?
You might be surprised! Thanks to advancements in technology and growing demand, home lifts are becoming more affordable than ever. Companies like Nibav Lifts Kenya offer budget-friendly, energy-efficient solutions that require minimal maintenance and no major structural changes.
Some models even run on air-driven systems, which use less power and are quieter than traditional lifts—making them perfect for residential settings.
Is It Right for Your Home?
If your home has multiple floors, or if you’re planning for future comfort and accessibility, then yes—a residential lift is a smart upgrade. It enhances your lifestyle while adding long-term value to your property.
Final Thoughts
Residential lifts are more than just a modern convenience—they are a reflection of how we want to live today: smarter, safer, and more comfortably. As Kenya’s housing market continues to evolve, more homeowners are embracing the idea of lifts not as luxury, but as a necessity for modern living.
If you're ready to take your home to the next level, a home lifts could be the smartest move you make.

Best Water Tanks in Kenya: A Lifeline for Homes, Farms and Communities
Water is not just a basic need – it is the essence of life. In Kenya, where seasonal rainfall patterns, growing urban populations, and inconsistent municipal supply pose daily challenges, having a reliable way to store water is crucial. This is where the importance of choosing the best water tanks in Kenya truly comes into focus.
Whether you’re a homeowner in Kisumu, a farmer in Kitale, or managing a school in Nairobi, water tanks play a vital role in sustaining daily routines and supporting essential activities. They offer more than convenience — they offer resilience.
Understanding the Role of Water Storage in Modern Kenya
In both rural and urban settings, the availability of clean, stored water can mean the difference between security and uncertainty. Access to safe water at the point of use reduces disease, saves time, supports agriculture, and protects against droughts and irregular water supply.
Tumblr media
Kenya's changing weather patterns — from long dry spells to sudden heavy rains — highlight the need for preparedness. A well-constructed water tank helps households and organisations harvest, store, and use rainwater efficiently and also store municipal or borehole water without fear of contamination.
It is not just about having a tank; it is about having a dependable, durable, and hygienic water storage solution — one that withstands Kenya’s extreme sun, dust, and occasional flooding.
Why Water Tanks Are More Than Just Storage
A water tank is more than just a container. It represents health, stability, and forward planning. Imagine a family in rural Kenya relying on a daily water delivery. Without a storage tank, every day is filled with uncertainty. Now imagine a school that receives water once a week. Without a strong and hygienic tank, managing that supply becomes nearly impossible.
Water tanks provide a buffer between scarcity and stability. They ensure that when taps run dry, life doesn’t have to stop. For mothers preparing meals, children needing baths, or workers running small businesses, the presence of a full tank brings both comfort and dignity.
The Impact on Agriculture and Small Enterprises
Kenya’s agricultural sector, heavily dependent on consistent water access, benefits immensely from reliable water tanks. From irrigating crops to cleaning produce, from feeding livestock to mixing animal feeds — water storage is vital. A strong tank ensures that these activities continue smoothly even when the rains are delayed or the river runs low.
Similarly, small businesses like laundries, car washes, food stalls, and salons all rely on a constant water supply. Downtime due to lack of water directly translates to lost income. By investing in high-quality water storage solutions, entrepreneurs equip themselves with the ability to keep running regardless of supply issues.
For many, a tank becomes more than infrastructure — it becomes a pillar of survival and prosperity.
Characteristics of Quality Water Tanks
When choosing a water tank, it’s tempting to go with what's readily available or cheapest. But quality should never be compromised. The following attributes define a good tank:
Food-grade plastic or material that ensures water remains safe for consumption.
UV-resistant coating to withstand prolonged sun exposure.
Durability against physical wear and tear over years of use.
Strong structural design to prevent leaks or collapses.
Tightly sealed lids and inlets to protect against insects, dust, and debris.
These features aren't luxuries — they are necessary protections for your water and your health. A poor-quality tank might crack or degrade, leading to water wastage or contamination.
A Solution That Touches Every Aspect of Life
The beauty of water tanks is that they meet both personal and community needs. In hospitals and clinics, tanks ensure clean water is always available for hygiene and patient care. In schools, they keep toilets functioning and children hydrated. In homes, they empower women and children who would otherwise spend hours fetching water.
This is about more than plastic and pipes — this is about dignity, safety, and progress.
In towns where water supply is rationed or rural areas where boreholes serve multiple families, tanks bridge the gap between access and usage. By collecting rainwater or storing borehole water, communities increase their independence and reduce their reliance on unpredictable sources.
Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility
Water tanks play a significant role in water conservation. They encourage rainwater harvesting — an environmentally friendly practice that reduces pressure on overused boreholes and rivers. Stored water can be used for irrigation and cleaning and even filtered for drinking.
By reducing the reliance on plastic water bottles or frequent trucking, water tanks also help minimise environmental impact. For a country like Kenya, which is experiencing both climate change and urban expansion, water conservation is no longer optional — it is urgent.
Resilience in the Face of Climate Change
As Kenya faces more extreme weather events — prolonged droughts, erratic rainfall, and increased demand due to population growth — the importance of water security grows. Tanks allow households and businesses to store during times of abundance and survive through scarcity.
Climate change is not a distant threat. It’s here. Water tanks offer a simple yet powerful way to adapt. They don’t just store water; they store hope and prepare communities for resilience.
Making the Right Choice for Your Needs
Water tanks come in various sizes and shapes — from small household units to large-capacity options for institutions and commercial farms. Choosing the right tank depends on your daily water usage, the source of your water, and available space.
But regardless of these factors, one thing remains constant: quality should never be compromised. A tank is a long-term investment in your future. It’s not something you replace every season. It’s something you trust with the most valuable resource in your life.
While many brands are available, it’s important to choose a tank manufactured with Kenyan conditions in mind — built strong enough to handle the sun, the load, and the years ahead.
Communities Thriving Through Water Storage
From the hills of Meru to the flats of Machakos, stories of transformation abound where water tanks have been embraced.
A girls’ secondary school that now boasts clean bathrooms year-round.
A community farm that turned barren land into productive maize fields.
A household that cut their water-related illnesses in half after installing a sealed tank.
These are not isolated successes — they are examples of how water storage brings real, lasting change.
Final Reflections: It’s More Than Just a Tank
Water is too precious to waste. Too essential to leave to chance. The best water tanks in Kenya are not just containers — they are guardians of health, engines of progress, and companions in resilience.
Let your tank be your ally in the journey towards a more self-sufficient, dignified, and sustainable life. Every litre stored is a promise of continuity. Every drop saved is a step towards stability.

Science and Nature - A One Health Perspective
With an open-ended blog prompt this week, I wanted to reflect on my evolving understanding of science as a means to understand our world’s issues. Science has always been an interest of mine. I’d always thought science was the key to understanding the world’s complex problems that we always hear about. Climate change, health crises, food insecurity, poverty, deforestation; I thought these issues could be solved with the proper understanding and application of science. We just needed to find those answers, and we needed scientific knowledge to do so.
I’m currently majoring in One Health, and by now, I have a good understanding of how interconnected human, animal, and environmental health truly are. Because of this, as much as I value science, I’ve also learned to recognize its limitations. The environmental crises we face today—from climate change to biodiversity loss—cannot be solved by scientific knowledge alone. We need holistic, multidisciplinary solutions that integrate different perspectives, including social, cultural, and ethical dimensions.
Of course, science provides essential tools for understanding and addressing environmental issues. It helps us monitor pollution, assess biodiversity loss, and develop conservation strategies. However, science often focuses on facts, data, and technological solutions, assuming that if people have the right information, they will act accordingly. Research on environmental education (EE) challenges this assumption, suggesting that people’s actions are influenced by broader worldviews, social structures, and belief systems—not just scientific facts (Wals et al., 2014). This pattern can be seen everywhere, and if you ask me, the state of the environment today makes this a more pressing issue than ever before. Ecosystems are collapsing, biodiversity is declining, and communities are facing worsening climate disasters and human health crises, yet many people—even those who hold an immense amount of power and influence in today’s society—refuse to accept and feel responsible for these crises because of the values they already hold. This means that simply presenting climate data to skeptics won’t necessarily change their minds, and as you can imagine, this makes it very difficult to instill lasting, sustainable change to mitigate these issues.
As I’ve learned throughout my degree, the most powerful way to ignite change is not just through facts and figures, but through shared values, storytelling, and hands-on experiences. One Health is an interdisciplinary field that recognizes the deep, inescapable ties between humans, animals, and the environment, embracing both scientific and non-scientific approaches to solving the world’s most pressing challenges. Take environmental education and citizen science, for example. These programs don’t just teach people about conservation; they invite them to be a part of it. They foster a sense of belonging, connection, and responsibility—transforming passive observers into active advocates of the world around them (Wals et al., 2014).
Tumblr media
An example: Farmers planting trees in Tsavo, Kenya (IFAW, 2023)
I also believe in the undeniable power of early experiences in nature. Young people are the future of the planet, and if they grow up not only understanding nature but truly feeling a part of it, their love for the earth will shape the way they walk through the world. It will spark inspiration, curiosity, and ultimately, change. I’d like to end this post with a quote, which I think perfectly embodies the importance of education to inspire connection to nature:
“In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught.” – Baba Dioum, Senegalese forestry engineer, 1968 in New Delhi at the General Assembly of the IUCN.
If we want a better future, we must start by inspiring the hearts and minds of those who will create it.

The thoroughly Technocratic “Digital Public Infrastructure” (DPI) originally slid in on the back of the global warming hoax. Unaccountable and unelected Bill Gates is rebranding the effort with his Modular Open-Source Identity Platform (MOSIP).
On 1-3 October, the Global DPI Summit  2024 was held in Cairo, Egypt. The principal sponsor was a NGO called Co-Develop Fund, who promised to,
… bring together key stakeholders from the public, private, and civil society sectors, including:
Countries: Countries that are seeking best-in-class approaches to digitization.
Bilateral and multilateral institutions: Institutions that support country governments in their digitization efforts.
Open-source digital public good providers: Providers of scalable digital solutions that can be used by countries to implement DPI.
Private sector companies: Companies with the expertise and capacity to help governments implement digital solutions at a population scale.
Civil society actors: Actors who are working to ensure that DPI is implemented in a way that is inclusive and protects the rights of all citizens.
Global DPI thought leaders: Experts on DPI who can provide valuable insights and guidance to countries on their DPI implementation journeys.
Domain-focused actors: Actors who are working to implement DPI solutions in specific sectors, such as education, healthcare, and agriculture.
⁃ Patrick Wood, Editor.
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is pushing governments to adopt the new global system for digital cash and ID that is backed by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Gates and his foundation are doubling down on support for s digital public infrastructure (DPI).
DPI supports both digital IDs and payments and is backed by the WEF, the European Union (EU), and the United Nations (UN).
Gates is now pressuring governments around the world to begin incorporating DPI as the globalist groups push for payments and IDs to switch to a fully digital system on a global level.
The billionaire laid out his vision for global DPI in a new blog post.
The Silicon Valley oligarch is once again attempting to establish his reputation as a visionary on these matters.
Gates praised several third-world “developing countries” for allowing DPI to be tested on their citizens.
He revealed that the system has already been “trialed for the rest of the world” in India, Kenya, Brazil, and Togo.
One of the major criticisms leveled at digital IDs and payments is that they will lead to “enhanced,” digital government surveillance, and subsequent disenfranchisement of people.
Many have also raised concerns about the rush to usher in the technology.
Globalists have been pushing for DPI to be rolled out globally for large-scale adoption by 2030, ostensibly to fight “climate change.”
However, Gates does not share these concerns about the technology and is heavily pushing for DPI to be rolled out for the general public.
According to Gates, citizens should not be concerned about government surveillance because “a properly designed” DPI will in fact “enhance” privacy.
He claims DPI includes “safeguards” which he didn’t elaborate on.
Gates also touches on what he says are the benefits of using Modular Open-Source Identity Platform (MOSIP).
MOSIP is a global digital ID tool backed by the Gates Foundation.
However, MOSIP is yet another point of contention from the privacy standpoint.
But MOSIP featured as a key participant during the recent Global DPI Summit 2024 held in Egypt.
At the event, those behind MOSIP, as well as the World Bank, the UN’s development agency UNDP, and the globalist Tony Blair Institute all took part.
The event provided another opportunity for these organizations to push for global adoption of DPI by 2030.
In addition, the organizations pledged to work on accelerating this process.
MOSIP demonstrated its identity platform at the summit.
At the same time, it stressed that the goal of digital ID and payments is to improve accessibility of identification, “particularly for developing nations.”
The platform is already in use in Ethiopia, Morocco, and Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the World Bank announced that it is about to launch its own global Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) program.

Best Plumbing Company in Nairobi is Your Guide to Quality Service.
Nairobi, the bustling capital of Kenya, is known for its thriving businesses, growing infrastructure, and vibrant communities. However, like any major city, it faces issues with plumbing due to rapid urbanization. From clogged drains and leaky faucets to major pipe installations, Nairobi residents and businesses often require reliable plumbing services. This article will help you understand what to look for in a plumbing company in Nairobi, why professional services are essential, and how to choose the best provider for your needs.
Why Choose a Professional Plumbing Company?
Plumbing issues can range from minor inconveniences to major disruptions. Trying to tackle these problems on your own may lead to temporary fixes or, worse, further complications. Here’s why opting for a professional plumbing company in Nairobi is essential:
Expertise and Knowledge: Professional plumbers are trained and experienced, allowing them to tackle complex problems effectively.
Quality Equipment: Professional plumbing companies use the latest tools and equipment, ensuring that repairs and installations are done efficiently.
Long-Term Solutions: Unlike quick DIY fixes, a professional plumbing company provides solutions that prevent future issues.
Safety: Plumbing involves dealing with water and gas pipes, which can be dangerous if mishandled. Professional plumbers know the safety measures required.
Common Plumbing Services in Nairobi
A top plumbing company in Nairobi offers a range of services to cater to both residential and commercial clients. Here are some common services you can expect:
Pipe Repairs and Installations: Whether it’s a burst pipe or a new installation, professionals ensure that your pipes are securely installed and leak-free.
Drain Cleaning: Clogged drains are a common problem that can lead to unpleasant odors and water back-ups. A good plumbing company will have the tools to unclog even the toughest blockages.
Water Heater Installation and Repair: Nairobi’s chilly mornings make water heaters essential. A reliable plumbing company can install, repair, and maintain water heaters.
Leak Detection and Repair: Leaks can waste a significant amount of water, increasing utility bills. Professional plumbers use advanced tools to detect and fix leaks quickly.
Toilet Repairs and Installations: A broken toilet can disrupt daily life. Plumbers can handle everything from repairs to installing new units.
Sewer Line Repair: A damaged sewer line can be a health hazard. Plumbing companies in Nairobi offer sewer line inspections, repairs, and replacements.
Qualities of a Good Plumbing Company in Nairobi
When choosing a plumbing company in Nairobi, certain qualities set the best apart from the rest:
Licensed and Certified: A reputable company will have the necessary licenses and certifications, ensuring they comply with local regulations and industry standards.
Experienced Technicians: Skilled and experienced plumbers know how to handle a wide variety of plumbing issues. Experience often translates to better service and quicker solutions.
24/7 Emergency Services: Plumbing issues can arise at any time. A good company provides round-the-clock services to address emergencies, preventing further damage.
Transparent Pricing: A reliable company offers clear and upfront pricing, with no hidden costs. This transparency helps build trust with clients.

How Wangari Maathai Built a Global Movement
Wangari Maathai was one of the most acclaimed environmentalists of this century who planted many millions of trees changing lives, and being an inspiration to society. Her legacy and story continues to inspire us to pursue sustainable development.
youtube
Maathai was born into rural Kenya in 1940. She swiftly established a strong connection to her land when she began exploring it as a child. While surrounded by streams for hours, watching tadpoles swimming through her mother's waters, she learned the idea the trees were "children from God," so Maathai was awed by them. When Kenya established an independent government, in 1963 she was able to work toward improving lives as well and the environment of Kenyans. Maathai established African's Green Belt Movement (GBM) in 1977 to support Kenyan women and to improve the condition of the environment by forest reforestation. GBM was soon expanding, and Maathai recognized that poverty and environmental degradation was at the root of a variety of country problems; she heard from women who lived in rural areas that streams were drying up, food supplies becoming less secure and they couldn't afford firewood to cook with or fence their homes with. Her solution to these issues consisted of encouraging the communities to establish trees - they would help hold soil while retaining rainwater at a steady level while providing food and income for families who live in her supervision. Maathai made her mark through both reforestation and democracy advocacy at GBM and was an advocate during Kenya's political upheaval that ensued after elections in 2007 and fighting to ensure that Kenya's constitution was a true representation of all Kenyan citizens. In addition, she played an essential voice in efforts to resolve conflicts and also acted as a mediator during times of political tension. GBM continues to promote environmental conservation, democratic governance, and empowerment of communities - which includes recovering and restoring forests throughout Kenya as well as creating more sustainable and sustainable economies to empower women Kenya. Maathai was a pioneer when it comes to combining the protection of the environment with human rights. She was awarded both the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize and U.N. Environment Program Global 500 Award and Right Livelihood Prize - known as an alternative Nobel Peace Prize at her time of death. Maathai made history through linking conservation of the environment with rights-based advocacy. She received numerous honors, among them being recognized with these two prestigious awards. Maathai was also a founder part of the Nobel Women's Institute and worked constantly to ensure equality and empowerment throughout the globe. Her achievements as part this cause serve to inspire us all in continuing movements to promote environmental as well as women's empowerment, regardless of the obstacles we face. With determination and conviction Maathai overcame even the most difficult challenges and left behind a lasting legacy and opening the path for future generations of people who are active in these causes.
