About:

Ichigo was a middle school freshman and a coworker of her family's bento shop. She spent most of her time helping out her mother, Ringo Hoshimiya - serving customers with the family's tasteful bento meals.

Because of this, she developed an interest in judging food. Her best friend was Aoi Kiriya, an intelligent girl with a knowledge for idols. Ichigo often acknowledged her as an "Idol expert" or "Idol professor," due to her dedication within the random of idols.

Ichigo was generally carefree, and all she did was help out her mother in her bento shop.

She wasn't really into being an idol, but after seeing Mizuki's performance with Aoi and her little brother Raichi, who was also a fan of idols, she was inspired by it. Encouraged by Aoi, Raichi, and her mother, Ichigo joined Starlight School to begin her career as an idol.

She is optimistic and works hard to become a top idol.

She doesn't have much knowledge about the entertainment world, so she always has Aoi teach her.

As she accomplished many activities at Starlight School, Ichigo learns what it means to be a true idol.

When performing her entrance exams, Ichigo was able to perform a Special Appeal as stated by her headmistress, while Aoi was able to answer all questions correctly in the written exam

Ichigo is the typical female anime protagonist. She's a cheerful, gung-ho girl, who's always willing to help out friends and strangers alike.

A stubborn airhead, but definitely shares certain characteristics with her mother, Ringo. Her Achilles' heel is that she can push herself too much, which can make her lose sight of her original goal at times.

She's very straightforward, and sometimes has difficulty understanding certain situations, but her determination and hard work allow her to overcome any and all obstacles that hinder her.

One of Ichigo's most defining personality quirks is her love for food.

10 Years of Aikatsu!

The first Aikatsu TV series aired on TV Tokyo on the 8th of October 2012. 2022 marks 10 years of the Aikatsu franchise and what a journey has been for the franchise. From Ichigo Hoshimiya's goal to become Starlight Academy's top idol to Hana's road to becoming Aikatsu Planet's top idol, five installments showcased the ups and downs of our favorite school idols.

Time to hop into the "lucky train", kids, because it's time for a quick history lesson on the Aikatsu franchise! Let's begin!

Aikatsu! (2012) - The saga began on the 8th of October, 2012, when Bandai launched the Aikatsu! franchise. which are made to appeal the little girls in the form of the TV series aired on TV Tokyo and the DATA CARDDASS arcade game where players can play as their favorite characters from the series or create their own character and take on a series of challenges to win Aikatsu cards to personalize their idols. The TV series centers on the life and times of Ichigo Hoshimiya, a middle-school student who wants to become an idol, just like the renowned Mizuki Kanzaki. That's why she, and Aoi Kiriya, are enrolling at the prestigious Starlight Academy to begin their journey.

Throughout the series, they've met various characters in the academy such as Ran Shibuki, Otome Arisugawa, Yurika Todo, Sakura Kitaoji, Kaede Ichinose, and others, all have in common in the academy; to become the best idols in the class.

What's unique about the Aikatsu franchise is that the singing voices of the characters are different from the seiyuus who did the dialogue for them. As a matter of fact, STAR☆ANIS, the singing group was responsible for the songs from the show. They even held concerts where they performed most of the songs from the TV show as well.

In the second season, the girls from Starlight Academy are facing the students from the rival idol school known as Dream Academy. Seira Otoshiro, Sora Kazesawa, Kii Saegusa, and Maria Himesato came from Dream Academy for some matters with the Starlight girls. Later on, with differences settled, Ichigo and Seira teamed up to form 2wings to take on WM, which comprises the school alum Mizuki and rising star Mikuru Natsuki. Apart from them, this season introduces the young Akari Ozora, who idolizes Ichigo and became the girl we know in the third season.

The third and final season of Aikatsu, labeled the Akari Generation arc of the series, centers on Akari Ozora as the main character of the series, and with Akari replacing Ichigo as the main character of the final season, Akari's accompanied by her new friends Sumire Hikami and Hinaki Shinjo on their journey to become the academy's top idols, no matter what lays ahead of them. She's a changed girl since we first met her in an earlier season.

The final season introduces us to another Aikatsu-related singing group named AIKATSU☆STARS, which, like STAR☆ANIS, is responsible for the songs from the final series.

Throughout the tenure of the original Aikatsu series, they have spawned two films such as Aikatsu the Movie and Aikatsu Music Awards, featuring storylines never seen in the TV series, giving fans a more enjoyable experience in the franchise.

Aikatsu Stars! (2016) - As the original Aikatsu series ended in the end of March 2016, its successor story, Aikatsu Stars!, was launched. , Aikatsu Stars centers on a brand new story of friends Yume Nijino and Rola Sakuraba as they are going to fulfill their quest to become the school's finest idols in the same way the four elite students, called the S4, did with their pride and prestige. Using their Aikatsu Cards, the stage is theirs to amaze the spectators.

The second season sees Yume Nijino's role as one of the members of S4 has been tested when the Venus Ark pays a visit, giving her a brand new challenge to take on. Traveling around the world on the Venus Ark, they've collected the best and brightest students from across the globe to nurture them into elite students unleashing the full capabilities of their talents. For Yume and the others, this is a challenge because they've been to the belly of the beast during the long summer months while reuniting with Koharu. This season introduces the Star Premium Rare dress, a powerful kind of dress representing the planets of the solar system and once all nine SPRs have been unleashed, the legendary Sun dress will be unleashed, and whoever possesses it promises the ultimate power.

It was first aired on TV Tokyo in the spring of 2016 to 2018 for 100 episodes and aside from the TV series, there was a movie version of Aikatsu Stars shown in the summer of 2016. The similarly named AIKATSU☆STARS from the final Aikatsu season has returned to perform songs from this series as well.

Aikatsu Friends! (2018) - After Aikatsu Stars ended in the spring of 2018, its successor, Aikatsu Friends!, took over and the third installment breaks away from the tradition because, for the first time, the seiyuu behind the characters are responsible for the songs on the series. Anyway, this series highlights the life and times of Aine Yuki and Mio Minato, two friends who are destined to be the best friends among the rest. This is about the rise and fall and reborn of the duo they formed as Pure Palette and how their road to the Diamond Friends Cup was tested by numerous rivals among the way.

The second season of Aikatsu Friends!, titled Aikatsu Friends! Kagayaki no Jewel, introduces fans to the brand new Jeweling Dress feature where the chosen ones will unleash their brilliance onstage. At the beginning of the second season, the Pure Palette girls accepted Hibiki Tensho’s mission to reunite with her old friend Alicia Charlotte, the crown princess of the Principality of Solvette. The second season features the new Jeweling Dress system and these new Premium Rare dresses add power to their live performances.

The show lasted for about 76 episodes.

Aikatsu On Parade! (2019) - Aikatsu on Parade! is the most ambitious crossover of the Aikatsu franchise, highlighting seven years of Bandai's hit children's franchise that wooed kidults all over Japan. The biggest Aikatsu crossover stars Raki Kiseki and the Pure Palette in their cross-dimensional adventure across the entire franchise, meeting iconic characters, performing iconic songs, and in due course, finding out what's going on with the cross-dimensional crisis that saw every single Aikatsu character popping up to a different world without reason. The show lasted for 26 episodes on TV, followed by a web anime highlighting Noeru Otoshiro, the sister of Seira, as she's representing Dream Academy in the ultimate battle of the schools.

Aikatsu Planet! (2021) - Aired on TV Tokyo from January to June 2021, Aikatsu Planet is the fourth installment of Bandai Namco's Aikatsu franchise that breaks apart from the franchise traditions. The newest installment is a mix of live-action J-drama (tokusatsu, if you like to refer) and anime sequences and instead of cards, Aikatsu Planet uses the swing system where avatars use swings to tame mysterious creatures known as Dressias, possessing wonderful outfits to use on stage battles. This series is about Mao Otoha, also known as Hana in Aikatsu Planet, and her goal is to become Aikatsu Planet's top idol. A year after the series finale, the movie version of the Aikatsu Planet arrived on July 15, 2022, picking up moments after the series finale.

And there you have it. 10 years of the Aikatsu franchise from the original to Aikatsu Planet, from Ichigo Hoshimiya to Hana. What a wonderful journey this series has been but now that we no longer see them on television and the Aikatsu Planet arcade game ending its service very soon, we don't really know what's next for the Aikatsu franchise.

Do you ever just... think. about how the main character in Aikatsu straight-up confessed her love to another girl. Using the word koi, which is for romantic love specifically. Ichigo told Mizuki that the song she sang about her was a love song: Koi no uta desu. And Mizuki could tell that the song was about her and said she was honored to have inspired such a beautiful song.

Plus, the future main character, Akari, overheard the song being described as a love song by the person who wrote it, and her reaction was “I understand. I feel the same way about Ichigo.”

That movie was such a gift.

Also, Akari’s voice actress said, about a song Akari sings (Melody of the Heart), “This is just my opinion, but the lyrics are like a love song. I get the feeling it’s for Ichigo.” And the vocalist who sings Akari’s parts in the songs enthusiastically agreed.

Still wishful thinking but I was hoping that Aikatsu on Parade was going to be about Raki, and the top five of the aikatsu popularity contest, and then having seperate episodes dedicated to the rest of the top ten.

Like, imagine Koharu showing off her CV to a very excited Raki, and Ako making a small comment about how she totally knew Koharu BEFORE she was popular, and how much more convenient it would’ve been if she made her own brand instead of fighting with Kirara for top spot. Cue flashback. Raki says “Woaaah! That sounds SUPER INTENSE, I could never handle a rivalry that big!!!” or something and Coco chimes in to talk about how having rivals is inevitable when you’re a celebrity.

Meanwhile, Hoshimiya “I climbed a whole mountain with no harness” Ichigo and Todo “Had to convince a man I wasn’t a faliure on the worst day of my life” Yurika, sit there in complete and utter silence. They could only wish the brand muse stuff was this simple for them.

Aikatsu! English dub idea

HI guys :D. So as we all know, the Aikatsu franchise is kind of failing big time right now

But Maybe the franchise can return to it’s former success with the help of an english dub! It makes sense! A whole new country (Maybe multiple if you count the UK and maybe Austraila) can experience what a great show Aikatsu is! (Or at least was). Sense the show is mostly aimed at young girls, maybe it can find more success with a whole new audience in America or in other english speaking countries.

So here are my ideas for the names. We’ll be starting with the OG Aikatsu, but if you think they should start with a different series lemme know. (May or may not contain spoilers!) I’ll try to continue this. I’ll also add extra notes.

Ichigo gen names:

Ichigo Hoshimiya: Stella Berry (Nickname will be “Starberry”. And Stella from being a “Natural born star” And her sun motif since the sun is also a star, ETC. The aikatsu wiki will give more Eytmology details). Berry as reference to original name “Ichigo” which means strawberry

Aoi Kiriya: Amy Waterson (Water is blue, there’s also her aquarius coord, aquarius is the “Water carrier”

Ran Shibuki: Rana Shaunson (I’m on the fence about this one. I’ve also been thinking of “Violet” as a first name, referencing her theme color)

Otome Arisugawa: Olivia “Ollie” Joy (Joy is a synonym for happy. A nod towards “Happy Rainbow”

Yurika Todo: Lilith Stoker (Lilith is the name of a demon, also comes from the lily flower, which is what her japanese name means. Her last name is from Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula, her character is a descendant of Dracula, though I think Loli Gothic’s brand designer  could have the last name Stoker, I’m not sure. I was also thinking of “Erika” Since it’s also a flower and closer to her japanese name).

Sakura Kitaouji: Sakura/ Flora Bell (Bell from “Tinkerbell”, the famous fairy. Her brother’s name could be Flynn. I chose to have her keep Sakura as her name in the dub since it’s a well known japanese name, so it might not be too unfamiliar to american kids.)

Kaede Ichinose: Trixie Maplewood (Trixie from “Magic tricks” which is her specialty. Maplewood from her japanese name “Kaede” meaning maple, which was a reference to her theme color, orange). 

Mizuki Kanzaki: Luna King (Luna for her moon motif. And King from her Japanese name, as well as a reference to her status as Top idol).

Seira Otoshiro: Sara Stone (Sara is similar to Seira. Stone is a synonym for rock. A nod to her love of rock music).

Kii Saegusa: Kiki Green (Kiki from her Japanese name. Green as a reference to her theme color. since her OG name contains the character “Gusa” meaning grass is a nod to her theme color. Taking ideas for a different surname).

Sora Kazesawa: Skyler Rivers( Skyler from her brand name. I kind of want her to have a bohemian or ethnic surname. Doesn’t have to be anything fancy, it can be common. Lemme know for some surname ideas!)

Maria Himesato: Maria/Marie Prince. (She’ll keep her OG name, or have something close to it. Prince from her princess motif.Or her last name could be “Tale” from Fairytale).

Mitsushi Orihime: Marilyn Orihime/Orion(I need some ideas for a surname, I’m a little stumped on her last name. Maybe Orion? It’s somewaht similar to her OG name and Orion is a constellation, as a reference to Starlight academy. Marilyn from Marilyn Monroe, a famous, Iconic  50s actress whose still well known today. As a reference to   when she was in Masquerade , A unit who took the idol world by storm. Her idol name could have been “Mary” or “Lynn”).

Johnny Bepp: Johnny Bepp/Bop. He’ll keep his full name, but his surname could be changed to something like “Bop” or “beat”.

Ringo Hoshimiya: Rosa Berry. Her stage name in “Masquerade” Could be “Rosie” or “Rose”.

Raichi/Laichi Hoshimiya: Richie Berry. His name is translated to Raichi, despite it most likely being Laichi, since he wears a shirt with an L on it. But since It’s prounounced Raichi we’ll just change it to Richie due to similarity.

Extra notes: 

1. Spicy Ageha will be changed to Spicy Agrias. Since it’s similar to Ageha, and  The Agrias butterfly is a speices of butterfly, go look it up.

2. Songs will be dubbed  to have rhyming lyrics.

3. While it’s never really clear as what town the girls are located in, the dub will give names to the towns. The town that Starlight academy and Dream academy are located will be called “Melody town” Since the girls usually sing for their Idol Activities

4. The anime will be called “Idol Activities” Or “Idacts” Or “Idoltivities”.

5. At the end of the first season (Spoilers) Stella will travel to Japan or the west coast. Preferably Japan since the dub is supposed to take place in America, and the show is based on Japanese idols.

6. Kaede will be from either Texas or New York.

tohru honda from fruits basket!! i’m only familiar with the 2019 anime adaption.... but it’s been an absolute joy to see her character. she reads to me as very autistic and i love and admire how kind and understanding she is!!

haruka haruno / cure flora from go! princess precure. i love her whole arc of chasing her dreams, and she undoubtedly embodies the season’s mantra of “strong, gentle, beautiful!” her character literally affected my current self in a huge way... i even made my senior quote one of hers... i’m very grateful to her

hana nono / cure yell from hugtto precure! words really can’t express how much i saw myself in her... seeing her grow and be happy despite her past really helped me. her compassion and love really hit home... and her vague, undefined goal slowly taking shape was so beautiful to watch...

kusuo saiki!!! i honestly cant really explain why i like him so much i just Do... maybe its something about my trauma again lol... like how a cynical, jaded person slowly learns to open up and confide in others....

akari ozora from aikatsu!! I LOVE HER.... she really began as a mere imitation of her idol (ichigo hoshimiya), but her arc centered around growing into her own person and improving herself. honestly? she’s an inspiration. she absolutely deserves the title of starlight queen!

AiParade Rewrite

Episode 32-  

In Okinawa, we see Rin and Minami dancing on the shore. Yuzu shows up with a water gun and chase ensues. The girls run through the water as the sun shines above them. Minami swims further into the sea as Rin runs toward the shore, “Hey Maika! Who should I chase first?” We see Maika sunbathing in sunglasses. She ignores Yuzu and turns over, placing her hands under her head. Yuzu launches several shots at Maika and chases her into the sea. The four girls splash around as they take turns with the water gun. “Honeys!” Johnny Bepp shouts. He waves at them with Sunny by his side. “Playtime is over! We need to get back to tour training.” (Twilight Etranger plays)

In the Star Harmony field, Ichigo is going through Rookie’s daily training. Aine is recording the footage for Seira to watch. “One! Two! One! Two!” She claps to the beat as the girls follow her cue. Ichigo does a few steps and repeats the choreography from G String on the Shining Sky. Rookie dances in sync and Ichigo notices that they remind her of Soleil. “If you give up now, you won’t make it to today’s special event.”

“What special event?” Raki asks.

“Maybe it’s a vault full of Mirai merchandise.” Wakaba says.

“Probably more training.” Noelle sighs. The music stops and Ichigo applauds.

“You’ll have to wait and see.” She heads off to the cafeteria but Aoi drags her back. Ichigo is sat in a chair as Aoi begins her interviews with each of them. The interviews run smoothly but Raki mostly shows off designs she’s been working on. As Aoi leaves, Wakaba asks Raki if she’s still working on her goal.

“Of course! I might not be showing them off but I’m sure I’ll have a new PR soon.”

“Raki, why don’t we have a stage to show off some of your recent designs.” Noelle says.

“Aah, since you want to plan an event, then why don’t you make this a challenge?” Ichigo smirks. “That way I don’t have to do as much,”

Raki nods and asks Wakaba to make a post about it on Friendstagram and soon word spreads.

The Star Harmony girls start to decorate the walls with whatever they can find and Sora comes by to sew the event name onto some banners. ‘Raki’s Special Showcase’ She has Koharu go and check in with Raki who is in her dorm. Koharu knocks and Raki lets her in. “Raki, what are you doing here?”

“What am I supposed to be doing?”

“Raki, this is your event. You’ve got to let people know what to do.” Raki stands in a huff and walks around the school giving vague advice to her fellow students. She has the banners moved a little and requests cake from the school café. She then proceeds to the school entrance where Sora is.

“Raki, it’s been a while hasn’t it?”

“Yeah, I’m planning my own event now.”

“I’m really proud of you Raki, but isn’t this a little rushed?” Raki cowers away as she clutches her torso. She moves toward Sora and nods sadly. “Raki, you can’t just think of having fun when it comes to an event. You have to sit down and work hard on it.”

“I’ve already come this far!” She complains. Sora looks down at Raki. She hugs her and strokes her head.

“Look, the least you can do now is ask for help,” Raki smiles as she looks up. “We’ll help you out, but next time you have to ask.” There’s a montage of Raki working with Koharu and Sora slowly patching up the event. Noelle and Wakaba bring some flowers and throw them around just before the attendees arrive. The turnout is small but Raki notices a few fans.

The crowd is walked into the auditorium and Raki welcomes them from the stage. “Let’s start the fashion show.” The Aikatsu System is used and the runway from Okay-Period. The song plays as well with Ema remarking that she misses Maika. Ichigo and Aoi are in the back of the crowd and nod approvingly. Sora and Koharu let Raki know that there’s nothing else to wear and she steps on stage. “Everyone, I’d like to thank you all fro attending. Please continue supporting Maple Ribbon.”

Raki watches the crowd cheer for her and sighs in relief. “I’m glad it was a success.” She whispers to herself. The lights dim as she turns to go off stage. Aoi walks up to the mic. Backstage, Noelle and Wakaba urge Raki to rest with a knowing smile. On stage, Aoi speaks, “On behalf of Hoshimiya Ichigo, I’d like to congratulate Raki on hosting her first event. However, that was merely the first milestone.” Aoi ominously walks off stage. Ichigo walks up to Raki who is sitting down and shows her the Pink Torte Coord. She turns to the three of them.

“Rookie, why don’t you show me how far you’ve come. You should all wear your school coords.” The girls agree and the stage begins. The first coord from G String On the Shining Sky plays as we view them on stage in their respective school coords. The room lights up as Aoi stands alone at the back of the room. As the first verse kicks in, Aoi raises her hand and shouts, “Appeal!” They all use a Quick Appeal (But the hearts are rounded and warm toned) Noelle missteps after the appeal and struggles to get back in sync. Wakaba stops to watch but Raki stays on track, keeping her eyes on Ichigo. The chorus starts and Aoi orders another appeal. Ichigo uses Cute Flash and Raki uses Cute Smile. Wakaba and Noelle panic and botch their Quick Appeal. The song continues as the girls eagerly await the third command which comes at the end. Noelle and Ichigo both use Cute Flash. Wakaba uses Cute Smile. Raki tries to do a third appeal but is too exhausted to. The song concludes as the crowd cheers even louder. Sora notes that Rookie’s popularity is rising. We see that Koharu was recording the entire live from the audience. Ichigo finds the girls standing silently in the changing room. Its clear rhey’ve been crying but they force a smile for her. Ichigo shows her the positive feedback on their live. A lot of young fans want them to do better and relate to their failures. The episode ends with a short montage of the current shuffle units: Twinkle, Dynamo, Rookie and Johnny’s trio

Tamagotchi Meets & Aikatsu On Parade! Collaboration

Bandai Japan is partnering up with Aikatsu on Parade! a popular Japanese anime that has made its television debut on October 5th, 2019. Bandai Japan is partnering with the new television anime series in a cute collaboration that’ll make both fans super excited!

To celebrate the new series Bandai Japan has set up Tama Photo Spots for Tamagotchi Meets users to connect to from Tuesday, October 1st through Thursday, October 31st. These photo stops will be featured at Aikatsu Style and Aikastu Official Shop’s throughout Japan. Once you connect with the Tama Photo Spot on your Meets you will get some exclusive items such as a cute bow headband and a pink teddy bear, both of which are featured in the series.

The next part of the collaboration is all about the Tamagotchi Meets app. Ichigo Hoshimiya and Akari Oozora will be making guest appearances in the Meets park. Simply tap on them during the event period and you can get a special present each day!

Be sure to take part in the collaboration by visiting a retail store, or visiting both Ichigo Hoshimiya and Akari Oozora on the Tamagotchi Meets app before Thursday, October 31st!

and they’re all still living at Ichigo’s house... I wonder how much time has passed. Mio said “when they showed us their dresses before” but that doesn’t mean anything.

it took a week for me to realize it fully but it’s super weird how they’re calling Ichigo’s mom Ringo-san... kids calling an adult by their first name is just really, really weird in Japan, especially your friend’s parents. is it to distinguish her from Ichigo, who’s also a Hoshimiya?? but they called her Ichigo from the start... is it to make a future Masquerade performance more of a surprise to them? but in oldkatsu they all knew her mom’s last name was Hoshimiya and they still didn’t connect her with Miya.... why?? why?!?

“Ichigo’s Constellation Dress...

I want to make [my own original Constellation Dress] too!”

I want to make [my own version of Ichigo’s Constellation Dress] too!”

and bc we all know what Raki’s Constellation Dress looks like, it’s hard to say if it’s the second or third, and the dialogue after doesn’t clarify. whoops, this was interesting to only me, sorry!!

?? Raki says “I’m a Pisces just like Ichigo” but Raki’s bday is 12/07 (sagittarius). what?

Raki is the designer of her own brand and she can recognize herself as the top Maple Ribbon idol if she wants to. totally 100% valid point about it looking too much like Ichigo’s dress, though Raki’s sketch here looks almost identical to the final PR so I’m curious to see how that gets resolved. is Amahane-san going to put her stamp of approval on it and that’s that?

I’m glad Raki’s going to meet her alone. like I’m glad PP is there to guide her along most of the time, but it’s partially bc Aine’s got way more of an Angely Sugar aesthetic and I’d want to see that interaction instead if Aine was there, and partially bc I want to see Raki be more of an MC in her own right instead of being there to play off her senpais.

so it’s established aikatsu canon that the Angely Sugar cliff is the highest, most challenging cliff of all. good to know.

is Raki the first aikatsu character to actually fall all the way down the cliff? I love her. and her extreme durability

the card in the anime says ‘PR’ on it right there, but they’re all talking about how Raki’s dream is to one day make her very own PR. so the key phrase is that she wants to make “her very own” PR, as in one that’s not influenced by any other idols, as they all acknowledge the Pastel Fin Pisces coord is. I’m totally ok with this setup, Maple Ribbon is a cute brand and I’m happy for it to have a ton of PRs esp if they continue to be as individually unique as they’ve proved so far. I just wish they’d made this excruciatingly clear from the beginning bc I’m going to have to see “but Raki already has a PR what’s with that” until the day aiparade ends. and probably after too
