Behold! My Moist von Lipwig Cosplay from Comic Con today! I've worked so hard on this and it was an absolute delight to spend a day in Moist's (rather uncomfortable) shoes. 10/10 would recommend being a shiny little con/postman.
Also, I'd like to thank @vampirejuno for helping me write my prop letters (especially the one from Margolotta to Vetinari, which I will admit I kept for myself rather than handing it out to con-goers like the rest), @sybilvimes and @potato-lord-but-not for drawing such excellent Moists that helped me guide my rather haphazard creative decisions, and @lilprince for being so so nice at con when I was going into autistic overdrive over meeting my cosplay idol. Much love, and on to the next one 💕.

Another rant about some Shady Eels
So, back again to talk about the shady eels though this time focusing on how with the information we’ve been given we can pretty well confirm the Leech family are mafia. We’ve gotten a few solid gems of information the last little while, pretty well confirming what we always figured. Octavinelle has got that mafia theme, so everyone expected some shadiness, but the info we’ve been fed about the Leech parents really brings home that it’s not just the dorm theme, and that the twins and Azul aren’t just “cosplaying as mafia baddies for aesthetic”.
So what exactly do we KNOW?
The twins were taught self defense by their parents from a young age. (Jade voice lines)
When they were children their parents ‘associates’ would buy them luxury or rare  birthday gifts...then were made to sign waivers saying that the gift had no ulterior motives and wouldn’t constitute a favour in return.  (Jade birthday)
Their father has told them that appearances on land are important, and to pay close attention to the little details. (When Idia asks for further clarification, he cuts Floyd off before he goes further saying that any further and he feels like he’d be “ensnared by darkness”) (Floyd dance and wishes wish)
There were many parties back in the Leech household, but they were more formal in nature. (floyd birthday)
Eels have a “tough guy” image in the sea, and them being carnivores doesn’t help. (floyd birthday)
Mama leech worries about her babies and contacts them often (jade birthday)
That they have a family run business, that has contacts with a LOT of kinds of different people. Jade tells us it’s VERY normal. (jade birthday)
Leech parents have spoiled their kids before, so they’re likely fairly well off. (floyd birthday)
Floyd seems to have a bit of a sore spot regarding humans (floyd robes)
So obviously, without 100% confirmation, it’s impossible to say MAFIA LEECH ARE CANON, but with everything we’ve been given I’m pretty confident in saying it’s damn likely. That’s not even the fun part, cause it’s so surface level obvious considering Octavinelles theme, I decided to jump into it more. @chillableu had posted a comment in a shared discord that really got my brain whirring about WHY the mafia fam is maybe a bigger thing than just aesthetic, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. Headcanon accepted, chilla. I thank you. (I took out your name in case you didn’t want anyone on discord to find you by it)
Tumblr media
I’ll put the rest of this under a cut since it’s really just me theorizing and head canoning a whole ton of shit about the Leech fam based on humans treating fish as lesser beings incapable of the same level of emotions and intelligence as themselves, adding in bits from other media that has mermaids, mythology, and a touch of the history of the mafia.
Not even really sure where to start with this, but here we go. So, What if the Leech fam (be it great grandpa/grandma leech or current Leeches) started the mafia as a way to protect themselves due to the mistreatment of merfolk that were more “monster” like than the regular human kind mermaids we’ve only seen up until now. Its reported that the original Sicilian mafia started as a way for certain families that were facing persecution from the rest of the towns that eventually spiraled into the crime syndicates we all know from various media today. Outside of the twins and Azul, all the other merfolk that have been shown in game have been the “fully human on top, fish bottom” type, and with Azul being bullied because we was a rare 8 legged mermaid, and the magicamonsters from the Halloween event seeing merfloyd and remarking how RARE it was to see one, so I’m thinking that maybe the Leech fam started as a way to protect themselves, since if carnivorous merfolk are seen as more brutish, they may have seen a lot of discrimination from other merfolk and humans alike.
It’s no secret that Toboso has been covering a lot of heavy topics dressed up in Disney clothes, and has already addressed discrimination and fetishization with the scarabia, savanaclaw, and more recently Diasomnia boys (well, mostly Malleus in the halloween event being treated like an object). So what I’m thinking is that there’s an underlying problem in the twstverse, where non-humans are treated badly, and non-humans with monster features even more so. So the leech fam bands together with whatever other monster like merfolk families there are and create their own little area in the coral sea, and eventually expand out into other types of business until they’re in a comfortable enough position to not really worry about any backlash anymore. Floyd has shown some distaste before about being ordered around by humans, which could be an ingrained quality from his parents, or he himself may have experienced some form of mistreatment at the hands of humans before. If the leech fam has a lot of ‘associates’ I think it’s safe to say that they weren’t the only ones feeling abandoned by the normal merfolk and humans .
In Japanese folklore there are creatures called Ningyo (basically human fish), which were both feared as creatures that would bring calamity and misfortune, and prized as their flesh was supposed to be sweet tasting and grant near immortality if eaten. Mermaids in a lot of more modern media are also more nuanced than the “beautiful fish that sailors fall in love with”. Even in One Piece, there’s the mermaids that are captured and sold off to the rich as prize objects to collect and display, and the Fishmen, which are the strong brutes that are ostracised by nearly everyone in series for them simply being fish. If Toboso wanted to touch on the mythology in TWST it would make sense that the more monster-like mermaids have created their own sub-society separate from the regular merfolk. During the Halloween event, the children seem to be pretty scared by Floyd because he’s huge, so what if that’s nothing new for him and why he’s so good with kids? Cause as a mermaid they’re used to people being openly scared of them without any good reason outside of their appearance. I also suspect that Floyd and Jade have a few more siblings, since in one of Floyds home screen lines he says that he’s not the youngest nor the oldest, and tbh, eels lay thousands of eggs, so it wouldn’t be surprising that he knew how to deal with the kid without any struggle.
What if, when the eels are first hatched they’re a lot smaller than they were and like in the original article that started all of this, humans were needlessly cruel to them and many of them died out of sheer neglect, or that humans just didn’t think merfolk as capable as having acute emotions and saw them as lowly fish rather than sentient beings. We saw with the Magicamonsters that there’s a complete disregard for the feelings of Malleus when they made it a challenge to touch his horns and get a picture, so I imagine that has to extend to merfolk as well when they’re actually seen. That same mindset could have extended to the regular mermaids as well, which is why mermaids like Azul were so tormented for being different, even though they’re all fucking mermaids at the end of the day. So bringing this back to the Leech fam, they decided that they weren’t going to stand for the same level of discrimination from humans and other merfolk alike and began building their own empire. They have contacts in the sea that extend to those on land (otherwise how would the twins get the rare land items for their birthdays), and have an extensive network of associates, with the added bonus of brilliant mermaid twins, one of which is incredibly cunning, the other quick to violence and both of them raised to defend themselves should the need arise.
So basically, I’m fully on the “Mafia Leech Fam is canon for real” train and at this point it’s going to be very hard to change my mind. I feel like there were a few more things I wanted to touch on with this but they’ve poofed themselves into the depths of my mind somewhere, so I may have to come back to them later. If you have anything to add, please let me know cause brain rotting about the Leech fam is honestly one of my favourite past times right now.

Miraculous Ladybug Fanfiction writers I have sewing info to help you!!!
Miraculous ladybug fanfiction writers!!!! Hello! I absolutely LOVE reading fanfic for this show, I honestly have read 10x more fanfic than I have watched the show, I just love the characters and the wonderful stories you all create! One reason i love the show is because i am a fellow fashion designer student and I thought I would make a post to help out you wonderful writers who want some more fashion terminology or insight or whatever! Also if I say something wrong or if any other people want to add feel free to add and correct me I just want to contribute to this wonderful adorable fandom, I have only written one fanfiction before (danny phantom) and writing is super hard and i just wanna give some insight about being a design student!
- poking yourself with pins very true, happens all the frickin time, I have bled on things i’ve been making and have mini heart attacks
- college AU’s spending hours in the sewing lab and getting pizza and eating off of the pattern paper before a huge project is due
- MOOD BOARDS!! making a board and using hella photoshop and illustrator, putting pictures to make a board of what inspires the outfit/line of clothing you are making
- creating flat patterns on illustrator is something we have to do, it has the details of the sewing and stuff you gotta do
- I have read your saliva gets out your own blood so i literally started licking a light pink skirt i was making to get out the blood, which i didn’t even realize I was bleeding until the red splotch appeared
- I personally however have not cut myself with scissors while cutting fabric, you usually are laying a pattern on the material and will not have a hand close enough to the scissors to cut yourself, now Marinette is clumsy so if she tripped and fell and hit her scissors it that could happen but her cutting herself with scissors while cutting material is not something I have personally encountered
- when I make pattern for things i sit at my sewing table staring at a piece of paper trying to work out the math for different measurements, like how many inches do i need to make 10 pleats into a 26 inch waist skirt? how long of a hem do I need?
- before I went to college I would use wrapping paper for pattern paper when making my own patterns
- instead of using the word “mannequin” for what she is working on maybe use “dress form” both can work but this is just a me thing? idk
- another form of design is draping fabric directly onto the dress form and using pins to figure out the design you want
- forgetting you shoved a pencil in your bun and your parents looking at you funny, it happens
- spending WAY TOO FUCKING LONG in the fabric store, time moves differently there, you just stare and it can be really irritating to find the exact fabric you want to match the image in your head
- sewing for a few hours and forgetting to eat
- finding threads literally ALL OVER YOUR OUTFIT, if i don't have at least 3 different threads on me did i really do anything?
- threads covering the floor bc you just throw them when you cut them
- dropping a sewing needle and doing a wide eye stare until you can locate the very slim sliver of metal before you stab your foot bc you should wear shoes but you don't, (I have stabbed my foot with the non-sharp side of a needle, not fun)
- seam ripping, sewing one thing realizing you did it wrong and sitting there with a seam ripper for 10-20 minutes undoing what you did
- machine malfunctions: the bobbin (bottom thread) not matching up with the top thread and the stitches look all loopy on one side and you want to fucking throw your machine out the gosh darn window
- ironing fabric
- spending hours just pinning and minimal actual sewing, so many pins
- it has been X amount of days since stabbed with a pin (probably 0)
- everyone asking hey i need a button/hem/shoe/shirt fixed can you do it?(yes, i fixed the threading for a shoe some guy on my floor asked, honestly i did so much they knew me as the girl to go to if you needed something fixed sewing wise or anything arts and crafts related)
- also cosplays just today I was asked if i could make a shirt for my friend’s mom’s friend’s daughter
- i once drove to the fabric store to pick up more fabric and thought i don't need to bring a swatch i know what color it is, it was ever ever so slightly off and i would have hated it so i had to drive back return it and get the right one (yes i brought a swatch that time)
- the smallest details bugging you: some stitches look a little wavy, the thread got tangled a little on the hand stitching, snipping the fabric a little too close to the seam, it's the small things no one else sees that kills you
- cutting out fabric wrong and just getting frustrated and taking a deep breath, buying more and doing it right
- sitting down to work one day on a project, fucking up once, and just saying “nope, nope, i'm not even, i'm done for the day” , or after a long day and making a mistake and being like ok that's enough i'll fix it tomorrow
- almost knocking over the dressform and seeing your life flash before your eyes bc those are like upwards of $100
- SOMETHING REALLY CUTE: Last year i fixed two buttons and a sleeve of a shirt for this guy on my floor and i later learned he ripped off the buttons just so i could sew them back on and he could see me and talk to me (it was adorable but we didn’t work as a couple but still friends) but i figure maybe some chat or adrian would do bc he I had no idea i was just like how is this skinny boy popping buttons off his shorts??? (idk why but if you use this could you credit me? It’s a personal thing kinda and I also I just wanna know so i can read it and be like omg so cute)
- also one of my friends sometimes comes over and sits on the couch and we just talk and she watches me as I sew, its very nice and i feel like alya would totally sit and be on the Ladyblog and her and Marinette would just chat while she sews
I could probably think of a billion more but that's all for now, if anyone has any questions or wants help or anything please let me know! I love sewing and miraculous ladybug but most of all is the beautiful stories you all create <3
(also if this does help you or you use stuff from this please lmk i would love to read your stories!)

Working Title: Forward, Back (5/?)
Summary:  Knowing what’s going to happen doesn’t mean Sans can stop it.  Maybe he could’ve put it off forever.  Sans decides to go.
Rating: T
Part Summary: Sans has a bad dream and hangs out with Alphys.  There’s robot tag.
>>First Part<<
C/N: Mental Illness
In the middle of a warm sunny day and surrounded by people, Sans felt a shock.  It was like ice water was dumped down the back of his spine.
He stopped walking and slowly turned around, 180°.  There was a shape, there, behind him.  There was a face, like a mask, with two asymmetrical eye sockets staring right into his.   The figure had a white outline that filled up with bright light that made the inside of Sans' skull loud with static.
Sans slowly lifted his hand.  He had a headache already.  "hey."
He thought he saw shapes, words, shaking in the air.  Sounds, too, almost like a voice.
"sorry, pops," Sans heard himself say.  "didn't get a word of that."
The voice cut off. Sans blinked rapidly, trying to clear the afterimages from his vision.  Dad was gone.
The person Sans was walking with asked him if he had stopped for a phone call.
"nah.  you didn't see the weirdo following us?  heh."
No one else would see him.  Sans knew that.  Dad was shattered across time and space. There were a couple bigger pieces hanging around.  He wasn't so much stopping for a visit as he was just a little bit always there.
Well, there was no fixing it.
That night he uncovered his homemade telescope and fussed with it for a little while.  He'd tossed a tarp over it after his last visit from his dad, intending to leave it outside until it rotted.  The months hadn't been kind to it, but it hadn't gone completely back to its natural garbage state quite yet.
"hey, pops," Sans said.  "you there?"
Everything stayed quiet.
"oh well.   look, you trying to tell me something?  you've been showing up a lot lately.  now's your chance.  you show up right now, i'm all ears.  heh."  He finished setting up and peered through the eye piece.  "lay it on me."
No visions, no sound.  Whatever triggered the visits wasn't happening.  Sans hung around and found all the planets that were visible.  If anyone asked what he'd been up do, he'd tell them he was "checking out uranus" and they'd probably leave it alone.
The night stayed quiet.
--
Something felt off-kilter.  The smell of dust in the lab was thick, overpowering. Sans was looking at blueprints, and was sure he had never been doing anything else.
He couldn't make out specific words or lines on the blueprints anymore, but they seemed to have meaning, anyway.  They shifted and he was struck by a realization.  The answer had been staring him in the face.  He could fix everything, now.
Sans knew he needed to call Alphys so she could bring over materials and confirm he was correct.  He reached for his phone.
He woke and, not entirely aware yet, he fumbled for his real phone and brought up Alphys' number.
Sans rubbed his head and groaned.  What a stupid dream.  At least a real nightmare made a cool story.
Before he set the phone back on the nightstand, he took another look at the picture he had set for Alphys' contact info.  She was in one of her cosplay wigs.  Undyne had her arm over her shoulders, and Alphys looked happy.
The details of the dream were slipping away, but that didn't matter. When he'd had that one before and tried to hold onto them, his burst of inspiration always turned out to be something like rubbing the broken machine with vinegar or sticking a car engine into it and having Papyrus drive it.  His idea was always something random related to what he'd been doing that day.
Sans wished his own head would quit jerking him around.
Grillby made a confused crackling sound and pushed at the hand Sans was still holding the phone in.  His meaning was clear enough.  He should put it down and go back to sleep.
"snack time.  want me to grab something for you?"
Grillby dropped his head back down.
"more for me."
Sans carried his phone into the living room.  Soozen was on the couch, an entire box of cookies (box included) halfway in her mouth.
"hey, kiddo," Sans said.  He noticed she had an unopened bag of chips next to her, too.  Maybe Papyrus was right when he said there was a major growth spurt on the horizon.  "let me have some chips and what's happening here is between you and me."
She nodded.  The pact was sealed.
He carried his phone and a handful of chips into the kitchen and settled in at the table.  It was a little after four in the morning.
"heeeeey, alphys, my best buddy."
"S-sans? What the hell are you--wait.  is-is someone sick? Dead??"  Her voice went up in pitch the longer she talked.
"nah."
"W-well, good!  I was about to say 'someone better be dead' and then I thought 'what if they actually are, Alphys, oh my god?'"
"you up?"
"No!  Well, now I am!!  I guess!"  He heard her sigh.  "I didn't want to wake up Undyne answering my phone in the middle of the night, like a jerk."
Yeah, this was a bad idea.  Still, Sans felt himself relaxing, hearing her voice.  She'd really tried to help him, back in the day.
He hadn't been the best friend to her.  He wanted to excuse himself because he'd been dealing with a lot at the same time she was, but that was probably just a cheap excuse for being lazy.
"geez, it's later than i thought.  sorry, buddy."
"Uhoh. I know what this is!"
"uh. what is it."
"It's been years since we had a, you know, club meeting."
"oh right."
"W-well then, get over here.  I, uh, have a couple movies we could watch and I can grab some snacks!  I mean, if you want."
It was their club for monsters with shit sleeping schedules.  It met only in the middle of the night and they were the only members. Alphys was the founder and she had given Sans the title "first officer."  He hadn't wanted it.
Sans didn't reply right away, so the next thing Alphys said had a nervous edge to it.
"...that's not why you c-called, is it?  God, sorry, just please tell me what it is so I can climb out the bottom of this trash can, okay?"
"nah. that was it."  He'd just wanted to hear her say something, but getting out of the house actually sounded like a good idea.  "i'll be there--" he took a short cut "--two seconds ago." He spoke from directly behind her.
She jumped and electricity bolted out of the end of her phone.  She was still holding it to her ear, so the lightning singed the floor.
A panel in the wall opened up and a small robot rolled up to the spot and hit it with a fire extinguisher.
"Sans! Just for that, we're watching the movie I know you'll hate."
"i'll watch anything," Sans said.
She patted the little robot on the head.  "Even if you don't like it, you should at least appreciate it.  The animation is top tier even if the fanservice almost crosses the line into exploitation.  Uh.  It’s sci fi!"
They went downstairs into her work room.  Robot parts were scattered around and plans were tacked up on the wall next to pictures of anime characters Alphys found inspirational.  There was an old, worn couch in the back of the room for her to pass out on if she'd worked too long without taking a break, and a very expensive looking television in front of that.  Sans would've gone for the nice couch and the crap TV if he'd been the one making the choice, but everyone had their own priorities.
"This really takes me back!"  Alphys said, as she set up the television.  "Feeling like garbage in some dirty basement in the middle of the night!"
"yeah. i'm getting all, uh, nostalgic."
"Right?? Except, in the bad way?  Like, thank god I'm not back then!   Nostalgic for right now?  No, ignore me.  That doesn't make any sense."
"i dunno."  Sans yawned and stretched out.  He needed to send a message to Grillby, but he didn't want to wake him up again.  "feels like we're all still back down there sometimes, anyway."  Time travel was a rip off, Sans decided.  All you had to do to stay in the past was have a lot of messed up stuff happen so you always felt like part of you was back there when it happened.  All that scientific research and there'd turned out to be a much lazier way to go back that didn't risk destroying reality.
"God!   You're in a bad mood."  She sat down next to him.  "But, yeah.  I wake up in the middle of the night and come down here, and when I open the door I feel like I'm going to step right into my old lab and all the stuff I did to make that...not right, really, but better--it's going to just be gone."
"that sucks."  He patted her arm.
"Yeah, I know!"   She turned on the movie.
There was an edge to the conversation.  There was always that chance that it could literally happen--they could wake up back then, and everything good they'd had since then would be gone.  That sucked.
He was really tired.
Sans watched an anime character with carefully but unbelievably animated breasts swoop around in the movie intro.  "wow."  Well, this was distracting.
Alphys started to explain the plot, since it was a movie based on an anime Sans hadn't seen.  Sans started to fall asleep.
He heard footsteps tromping down the stairs, and opened one eye socket to see if it was Undyne or one of the kids.
"Hey!"   Undyne stage whispered.  "When did this loser get here?"
Alphys paused the show.
"hey," Sans said.  "you can see i'm awake, pal."
"Oh!  Sorry!  When'd you get here, loser?"  She laughed and came over to smack him affectionately on the shoulder, but he decided to sit on the other side of the couch.
"Uh, we decided to watch a movie," Alphys said.  "Kind of a weird time for it, but...um..."
"nah. i think you've gotta watch a show like this when no one else is awake."
"Time is a meaningless social construct anyway, am I right?  Eheheheh..."
"Well, shove over and let me watch, too!  I love this one!"
Now that Undyne was there, she and Alphys started to discuss the intricacies of the plot.  Sans' skull fell back and he let their impassioned discussion of something he didn't care about act as white noise to nod off to.
"So, what's his deal?"  Undyne asked.  Sans was still awake, but he guessed he looked like he was out.
"Ummm...like a bad dream, maybe," Alphys said.
"still awake," Sans said, before the conversation got embarrassing. "maybe i just missed the sound of alphys' voice.  you think of that?"
"Ha, right!"  Undyne reached over Alphys and gripped his shoulder. "Just cop to it!  No one cares!  We're not going to think you're any more of a wimp because you had a nightmare.  I have them all the time, and I can kick anyone's butt!"
"It's true!  It's completely normal," Alphys said.  "The kids get them pretty bad."
"We woke up just a couple nights ago because Striker was wailing her friggin heads off.  I couldn't even get it out of her what she'd been dreaming about."
"man, you two are really giving me a revelation here.  people have bad dreams.  wow, thanks."
"Hey, Sans?  Don't be a jerk!" Alphys said.
"yeah, sorry.  you're helping me out."  And neither of them had even mentioned that they probably had to get up early and haul some kids to school.
"And don't forget it!"  Undyne's hand was digging in so hard he was starting to worry about HP loss.  "Because we'll do it any time, no problem."  She was smiling.
Jeez, he really must look like he was messed up.  "thanks."
She sighed and let go of him.  He rotated his shoulder.  It still worked, some how.  "You know--this movie's great, but there's something that really distracts me when I need it!"
"ok?"
"Robot tag!"  She jumped up and grabbed a loose robot arm off the floor.  It looked a little like an extra one of Mettaton's.
"Maybe we should just watch the show?"  Alphys said.
Undyne came after her with the robot arm.
"W-wait! Let me get a hiding space, or a head start--or something!" Alphys scrambled off the couch.
"you'd better get armed, alphs," Sans said.
"You aren't getting out of this, either!" Undyne said.  "Arm YOURSELF!"
"k."  He got off the couch and picked up the closest robot leg.
Sans spent half an hour leaning against the edge of the couch holding a robot leg while Alphys and Undyne chased each other around their basement.  It did give him something to look at when the women in Alphys' movie started to get weird.
Undyne suddenly charged at him and he dodged out of the way to the other side of the couch.  Alphys popped right up from where she'd been hiding behind it and booped him in the back of the skull with a robot hand.
Alphys laughed, delighted at herself.  "You're so predictable!"
"And, you're SO IT!"  Undyne added.  "Teaming up is the key to victory!"  She ran over and gave Alphys' robot hand a high five with her robot arm.
That was a little annoying.  "k," Sans said.
"N-nothing can defeat the p-power of...of...love!  And friendship!" Alphys exclaimed.  They were both so excited about tagging him.
"k."   He decided to get Alphys back, since she was the one who actually got him.  He looked at her.
"Jeez...uh...maybe...tone down your creep eye?"  Alphys said.  "And, um---no tag backs!"
Sans was sure that wasn't true, since Alphys and Undyne had been chasing each other and mostly ignoring him until then, but ok.  He turned his glowy blue eye that was totally cool and not at all creepy onto Undyne.
"I'd like to see you TRY, punk!"
"ok."
When Grillby asked him how his late night hang-out with Alphys had gone, Sans shrugged and said "it was mostly just weird."  The game had ended for Sans when a stampede of children came down the stairs at six in the morning and joined in.  He'd given up his leg to some tyke way more excited about physical activity than he was, and gone home.
He finished watching the movie at home.  He hated it, sure, but he still needed to know the ending.  Alphys gloated when he told her that, and said there was a sequel if he needed to stop by again.
He had the best friends in the world.

(struggling to figure out how to ask all of them... also obv no spoilers ;u;) okay for character specific questions: 13 I don't think I've questioned any character's actions so ┐( シ)┌ 14 I guess Zoro?? maybe Travis 21 tell me about the human experiences of Luffy! 22 Zoro 30 eh just ramble about the Straw Hats living human lives? 42, 43, 49 & 50 all of the crew when they were in Earthverse !
These were fun! Well, most of them. For questions 21, 30, 42, 43, 49, and 50…they aren't things I've thought too much about before. I'm not in the right frame of mind to try at the moment and I didn't want to let the ask sit there unanswered until I did manage to think of something, so I'm just going to go ahead and skip them for now, sorry! ^^;
1: what inspires you?
Having a good idea I can be excited about? IDK. X'D
2: one of your favorite comments/reviews on this chapter/verse?
I love all my comments. ;u; I love the comments that go into detail about what they thought, the comments that are just a mess of flailing, the comments that tell me they stayed up all night reading, the comments that are just a line or two to say they liked it, and everything in between. Even if I could decide on one to use as an example, I wouldn't want to make anyone feel like I didn't appreciate their comment because it didn't look like that one.
3: what motivates you?
Being excited about an idea, getting to write a part I've been looking forward to, getting a nice comment on a fic, having the house to myself.
4: what time of the day/night do you like to write?
Either afternoon or at night once my mom's gone to bed.
5: do you write scenes in a linear fashion or do you write future scenes/dialogues sometimes?
I'll write snippets of future scenes if I think of something I don't want to lose, but otherwise I write pretty much linearly (aside from going back to rewrite previous scenes/chapters).
6: hardest/easiest character to write for?
I don't know if any of them are easy, exactly. It also depends on the scene and what they're going to be doing. Sometimes I know exactly how they'll behave, and sometimes I just can't picture how a character would react to a particular event or line of dialogue.
But generally Zoro isn't too bad. (Also Travis, because he's my character, though that still doesn't mean I know how he'll respond to things all the time, unfortunately.) Hardest is probably Flirty!Sanji and Franky. I've never tried writing from Franky's point of view, but he's hard enough from someone else's that I'm not eager to try. Chopper and Robin aren't too bad from someone else's POV, but I think I might have trouble writing from theirs. And Luffy can be difficult occasionally, depending on the situation. (Also Sven is hard, even though he’s my character.)
7: hardest/easiest verse to write for?
Well, I only have one at the moment, so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Though once I actually start writing some of my other ideas, I have a feeling Mistyverse will still be the easiest, just because I've been working in it for so long.
8: (if you have either or both) how do you manage time with writing, work, school etc.?
Very badly. ^^;; I'm terrible at time management.
9: what tv shows, books, or movies inspire for this verse, if any?
Story-wise, I can't think of anything specific (there may have been and I've just forgotten, but). Character-wise, Archer from Fate/Stay Night and Furuya Rei/Amuro Tōru/Bourbon from Detective Conan were a big influence when I was developing Travis.
10: any writing advice?
I don't feel confident enough to give advice to other people, haha.
11: (if you use) what do you like about archiveofourown?
The tag system. It can be very helpful in finding a certain subject or giving me a better idea of what the fic is about. Also the "mark for later" option. And the ability to have a series. It makes it much easier not to miss things when there are multiple fics in a story. And I like that the author isn't sent a notice when someone subscribes/can’t see the names of people who have subscribed. I feel much less awkward about subscribing to fics that are years old or about a very guilty pleasure. :P
12: anything you would do to make archiveofourown different/change it?
I…kind of have a list…
– Add a way to sort subscriptions by fandom! Sometimes I want to reread fic for a particular series and if I don't remember the title(s), going through multiple pages of fics and opening them one by one is such a pain.
– Give us a way to mark main vs. minor characters and relationships in fics. It's really annoying searching for fics about a certain character or pairing and getting dozens of fics that focus on someone/thing else entirely, with whatever you were looking for getting maybe a couple of scenes in the background. I've seen authors try to tag things to indicate this themselves, but most (including me ^^; ) don't do it, and in any case, I'd like an actual option I can mark in a search.
– It'd be cool to be able to put spoiler warnings on tags. Click to view, highlight, something.
– Filter IDs are very helpful, but it would be so much easier if we could just click a button to exclude things like explicit fics, “multi” fics (I’m so tired of being overrun with smutty “multi” fics when I search for “gen” without a filter), NOTPs, fandoms I don’t like…and so on.
– Being able to choose whether or not crossovers are included in the search results. I like a good crossover, but sometimes I just want fics for the one series.
– Don’t have author replies count under total number of comments. Also a PM system would be nice.
(If any of this is possible and it’s just that I don’t know about it, someone please tell me. X’D)
14: what is the arc for this character (redemption, etc.)?
I find it hard to put things like this into words (and I don't want to give spoilers), so…I'm going to pass on this as well. ^^;
15: ask me any spoilers you’re curious about for a verse, and i’ll post the answer in the tags
I'm glad you didn't ask for any because usually I love giving spoilers but we're far enough into the story now that most things I could say are Big Spoilers for the climax/ending that I really don't want to give away ahead of time. So thanks for not tempting me. XD
16: do you ever hand write? why or why not?
Once in a long while, if I think of a line I don't want to forget after I've turned my computer off, I'll jot it down on a notepad so I'll remember it the next day. Otherwise, no. My handwriting is slow as molasses and makes my hand tired. ^^;
17: do you listen to music while you write?
Almost always. 8D Just instrumentals, though.
18: any fanmixes you’ve made for this fic/verse?
Not really, no. I have a playlist I use when I'm writing scenes with Travis, and I'm working on one for fight scenes in general, but that's the closest I've got.
19: any edits or art you’ve made for this fic/verse/any edits readers have made? if not, what visuals would you use for one?
All the art I've posted for Mistyverse is here (If I get any fanart in the future, that's where it will be, too). I have quite a bit of art I haven't posted, mostly of Travis or unfinished attempts to draw specific scenes (I have an attempted map of the island in OtMS that I'm too embarrassed to look at again X'D).
20: what songs were you listening to during this scene/chapter?Mostly I just shuffle my giant instrumental playlist. Or if I'm in the mood for something new, I go looking on YouTube or similar places for writing playlists. As far as music for specific scenes/chapters, I think I pretty much covered that in question 13 here.
22: favorite line/quote/inner monologue from this character?
Zoro… At the moment, probably:
Zoro's heart had nearly stopped when he'd seen those hands. Or it would have, if he'd still had one.
Damn it, when did I start stealing Brook's lines?
23: feelings on epistolary fic?
It can be interesting. c: I like it best when letters/diary entries/whatever are mixed with more traditional narrative, but they can make for a fun story.
24: do you outline?
Yep! Not super-detailed outlines, usually, but I prefer having some sense of where things are going.
25: if you outline, do you edit it frequently?
Not that often, no. I don't think I've even looked at the outline for FMaA in a while, actually, because things got very vague toward the end, outside of a few specifics, and I have most of the necessary info in my head at this point.
26: anything you’re planning to write in your fic that you’re worried readers might like?
I think this is supposed to be "that you're worried readers might not like". Because otherwise…why would someone liking my stuff make me worried? Barring creepy stalkers and the like. Assuming it's "not"…
Ohhh yeah. I might hide under the covers for about a week when I post those parts… X’D
27: when you read fic, how often do you comment?
Not…very often. ;;OTL I know how much comments mean to writers, especially now that I've had firsthand experience, but I still find it a difficult thing to do. And lately, when I do comment, more often than not I do it anonymously, even if all I have to say is praise. It's just more comfortable for me that way. If I leave a signed in comment, it usually means I really liked the fic.
28: any scene/line you wrote that you didn’t expect to write/that surprised you once it was written?
Uhh…first thing that comes to mind is when they were at the museum and got roped into playing themselves. I had planned for their disguises to be seen through and for it to be assumed that they were cosplaying, but the rest of it just sort of happened. Including Maya; I knew she was going to be in the story, but I didn’t know she was going to be on that island or working at the museum until she showed up in the fruit room. X’D I don’t even remember how I was originally going to introduce her, except that it was going to be a lot closer to the end.
29: do you eat or drink anything while you write?
Not while I'm writing, but I like to have a drink and sometimes a snack before I start. Most often chai. It helps me get in the mood.
32: what are your stats for this story/verse?
Is…this supposed to mean, like…number of kudos/comments/hits. etc? If it means something else, someone tell me and I'll adjust my answer. :P
Just doing the two main fics (and on FFN the shorts are part of OtMS anyway, so):
On the Misty Shore
AO3 – Kudos: 75, Comments: 11, Bookmarks: 10, Hits: 1350
FFN – Reviews: 86, Favorites: 165, Followers: 63, Communities: 1, Views: 21,005
From Mist and Ashes
AO3 – Kudos: 117, Comments: 37, Bookmarks: 17, Hits: 1739
FFN – Reviews: 94, Favorites: 101, Followers: 129, Views: 11.433
33: favorite one-shot you’ve written?
Ah…hmm. I haven't actually written any one-shots as in "self-contained, stand-alone story" yet (I have plans!). Out of the one-shot extras that I wrote for Mistyverse…maybe Proof? It was the most self-indulgent of the three and the most fun to write.
34: a scene/paragraph you wrote that you’re proud of
I'm pretty happy with most of the stuff in chapters 18 and 19…and the scene in 16 where Zoro reveals himself…and Zoro and Travis’s fight in the museum in 15…and probably more that I’m not thinking of, but I’m not going to reread the whole thing again right now. :P
35: any foreshadowing/symbolism you wrote that you hope readers didn’t miss?
Yes, but at the same time I hope most people don't put the pieces together until things get revealed later.
36: any scenes you wrote that parallel the canon verse?
I guess maybe the stuff with Zoro and Chidori in 17? Kind of?
37: do you use quotes in the beginning notes/intro to your chapters? if so, what are some of your favorites/what are their significance?
Nope, I don't.
38: do you title your chapters? what’s your favorite chapter title? what’s its significance/why did you choose it?
Yes, I love titling chapters. Even when I can't think of anything good. Favorite chapter title is definitely Law and Order. Because it has a double meaning/pun (the structure and rules of Whitestone + Law showing up at the end).
39: any alternate fic titles you were considering for this verse?
I had a couple others I was playing with, at least for FMaA, but who knows what they were? Not me. XD
40: chapter you’re most proud of in this verse?
At the moment, I'd say it's a tossup between 15, 16, 18, and 19.
41: chapter that was the most fun to write in this verse?
Hmm. 12 was the easiest, and it's always fun when I'm not struggling with a chapter. The whole arc on Crinia (chapters 13 – 15) was pretty fun, even when it got difficult. 18 – 19, too. And I felt like chapter 20 was crap while I was writing it, but it was silly fun, and it doesn't seem as terrible when I reread it now.
44: have you shared your outline with anyone? if so, what did they think of it?
The outline itself, no. Parts of it are pretty different from what I actually ended up writing; it might be fun to share some of it sometime. c:
45: anyone you share excerpts with?
*pokes you* And I've posted a few here before, too. They're usually pretty short, though. Just a line or two.
46: story with the most kudos (AO3)?
From Mist and Ashes.
47: story with the most comments?
From Mist and Ashes again. :P
48: a happy future moment you’ve written/have planned for this ship? (will post under read more for spoilers)
*ignores the "ship" part* Hmm…I have no idea if I'll ever actually write it, but in my list of ideas for FMaA bonus scenes I have one where Zoro cooks for everyone (just because he can't eat anymore doesn't mean he can't cook—he lived on that island by himself for a long time before he died, after all). Also (for the benefit of anyone else reading this), sircerenade and I have discussed Brook and Zoro bonding over stuff before (being "grandpa figures", sharing skull/ghost jokes, etc.). Some of it may be more bittersweet than happy, but it’s a cute bittersweet, so.
