MALTA říjen 2023

Malta byla v mém hledáčku poměrně dlouho, takže když někdy v červenci vyběhly letenky kolem 3000,-, tak jsem neváhala. Bydlení jsem nějak nemohla sehnat za rozumnou cenu, takže jsem nakonec měla pěkné a velké Airbnb v části Pieta. Jelikož let byl pozdě večer, tak jsme přiletěli až kolem 1 v noci a z letiště se nedá dostat jinak, než taxíkem.

První den jsem vyrazila do Sant'Anton Gardens, kde se natáčely scény pro Game of Thrones a navíc miluju zahrady. Vstup je zdarma. Já si na cestování po ostrově koupila za 15 Euro kartu na 12 jízd. Vždycky si člověk jen pípne u řidiče. MHD je dobře značené, na každé zastávce jsou čísla autobusů, které tam staví (vše je na znamení, takže musíte dávat pozor a mávat) a i jízdní řády (v těch nejsou vypsané úplně všechny zastávky, spíše směr, kam to jede). Pak jsem jela do Mdiny, kde jsem prošla celé město a jeho malé a nekonečné uličky, opět nějaké lokace z GOT a pak jsem šla do Church of St Dominic & The Blessed Virgin, kde byl vstup 5 EUR a taky se tam natáčelo GOT. Odpoledne už jsem jela domů a jelikož bylo ještě hezky, tak jsem šla k moři. Ve městě nejsou žádné "klasické" pláže, ale jsou vytvořené na kamenech pod promenádami. Za mě to bylo hrozně super - moře na některých dělá malé bazénky, jinde zas máte schůdky přímo do moře a všude bylo jen pár lidí a klid. Já měla nejbližší asi 15 minut a to Rock beach Pieta. Pak jsem ještě byla na Fond Għadir Beach a ta se mi líbila moc.

Druhý den jsem se vydala na Gozo. Autobusem to bylo k přístavu Cirkewwa prakticky přes celý ostrov, takže cesta trvala asi 1,5 hodiny jelikož je tam asi jen jedna silnice, takže silný provoz a zácpy. Trajekt pak jede asi půl hodiny (2x za hodinu) a stojí 4,65 EUR. Na terminálu byl dost zmatek, jelikož na cestu tam lístek není třeba, ale je potřeba jen na cestu zpět. Ovšem musíte si ho koupit již zde před odjezdem. Na Gozu jsem chtěl jít kus Gozo costal walt a to do Xlendi, což mělo být asi 10 km. Začátek cesty byl super, krásný výhledy na útesy a několik prázdných plážiček na koupání. Ovšem za pláží Mġarr ix-Xini stezka vedla po silnici a to několik kilometrů. V tom horku bylo jak vyhlazovací pochod. Došla jsme tedy do Xewkija a tam sedla na autobus a do svého původního cíle dojela :D Tam jsem teda čekala větší pláž - takhle byla tak pro 10 lidí, ale i tak jsem tam našla místo a odpoledne si tam poležela a vykoupala se. Pak už jsem směřovala do do Victorie a do její Cittadelly. Ta mě fakt překvapila, jak byla rozlehlá. Bylo to jak město ve městě. No a pak už jen busem k trajektu, trajektem na Maltu a opět busem domů.

Jelikož předchozí den byl poměrně náročný, tak 3. den jsem si dala jen beach day. Jela jsem busem na Golden Bay beach a tam jsem strávila celý den opalováním, koupáním a popíjením drinčíků z beach baru. Původně jsem myslela, že bych si ještě dala kousek procházky po útesech, ale bylo fakt horko a navíc se pláž během dne hodně zaplnila a já měla strach, abych se nějak nacpala do busu, jelikož jezdil jen 2x za hodinu a tahle procházka by mě navíc vyhodila až na další zastávce po konečný.

Poslední celý den jsem se rozhodla si udělat boat trip na Comino a podívat se na slavnou Blue lagoon. Výlet jsem koupila na netu za cca 700,- a vybrala jsem si cestu menší lodí (cca pro 20 lidí) a odjezdem ze Sliemy. Hodně lodí odjíždí z St. Paul's Bay a tam se mi busem prostě znova jet nechtělo :D Takže dopoledne jsem se válela ve Sliemě na pláži a pak jsme vyrazili. Cesta byla rychlá a v pohodě, sice to docela házelo, ale mě to nijak nevadilo. Cestou jsme se u Comina asi hodinku koupali u různých jeskyní a skákali z lodi a bylo to super. Pak jsme měli asi 4 hodiny přímo na ostrově a v Blue lagoon. Ta mě teda překvapila, jak byla i v tuhle dobu přeplněná lidma. Ostrov je asi úplně neobydlený (nebo jsem na žádné známky života nenarazila) a je to vlastně jen skála, takže tam nejsou žádně krásné pláže, ze kterých by si člověk užíval tyrkysovou vodu. Když máte štěstí, tak seženete místo na lehátku, která jsou placená a postavená na relativně rovných kamenech. Pak taky můžete být na nějakém malém kamínku/skalce u vody. Nejvíc lidí vysedává (polehává) na skále x-metrů od vody. Já šla na druhou stranu ostrova, kde sice není tyrkysová voda, ale i tak je hezky čistá a průzračná. Navíc je tam spousta místa k ležení (velké kameny) a mnohem míň lidí. Co mi tam přišlo fakt nemísný byly stánky prodávající koktejly a jídlo a vyřvávající diskošku.

Jelikož jsem měla let až večer, tak jsem si poslední den nechala na Vallettu. Tam jsem si kus od Autobusáku uložila do úschovny Stow Your Bags zavazadla, abych měla na courání po městě klid. Za 6 hodin jsem teda platila 11 EUR, ale v tom vedru jsem fakt neměla chuť se tahat s batohem a taškou. Pak už jsem nej náhodně procházela uličky města, jeho výhledy a zahrady (Lower Barrakka Gardens a Upper Barrakka Gardens), což jsou za mě top místa. Z Upper gardens vede výtah dolů k přístavu, kde se dá vyrazit tradiční loďkou do "3 cities". Výtah stojí Euro a lístek je na cestu dolu a nahoru, což se za mě vyplatí :D Vyhodí vás kousek od místa, kde vyráží "převozník". Já chtěla jen do Vittoriosy. Loď je vlastně místo busu, takže můžete nastoupit a vystoupit kdekoliv a pak si jen chytnete další. Jedna cesta stojí 2 EUR a je to super zážitek. Já pak courala po Vittoriose, dala si tam oběd a jela zpět do Valletty. Cesta trvá asi 10 minut a loďky jezdí každou chvíli. Já teda ani jednou nemusela čekat ve frontě a hned jsem se nalodila, ale když jsme se vraceli zpět do města, tak už tam docela fronta byla. Loďka je pro 6 pasažérů. Pak jsem se ještě šla podívat na The Valletta Waterfront, vyjela výtahem zase nahoru, dala si zmrzku, ještě je trochu prošla, vyzvedla si zavazadlo a už jen jela na letiště.

Vyšetřování Jacka Teixeiry pokračuje

Sledujte kauzu Jacka Teixeiry (21), člena národní letecké gardy Massachusetts, který má na triku únik a zveřejnění tajných vojenských zpravodajských informací:

Dosud byl mladík popisován jako někdo, kdo se jen ostatním diskutujícím na Discordu chtěl pochlubit s tím, k čemu mápřístup (a např. podle krajně pravicové fanatičky Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) je to hrdina) a v podstatě jde jen o pitomce, co nedomyslel důsledky svého jednání.

Nové důkazy ukazují na úplně jinou osobnost. Podle materiálů, které předložili soudu vyšetřovatelé a žalobci, měl Teixeira na Discordu pravidelně diskutovat o páchání hromadných střeleb a plánování vražd.

Ostatním diskutujícím se svěřil mj. s tím, že uvažuje o přestavbě minivanu na vůz pro páchání atentátů, ptal se jaké konkrétní zbraně by byly nejlepší pro střelbu ze zadní části SUV a popisoval, jakým způsobem by provedl střelbu z auta v městském a přeplněném příměstském prostředí. Prohlásil také, že kdyby bylo po jeho, tak by zabil spoustu lidí, protože by se tím "zbavil slabomyslných".

V soudních dokumentech žalobci uvádějí, že Teixeira byl v roce 2018 vyloučen ze střední školy poté, co ho spolužák zaslechl mluvit o "zápalných lahvích, zbraních ve škole a rasových hrozbách".

Teixeira diskutující dál informoval o tom, že si prostřednictvím armádního vybavení dohledával informace o proběhlých hromadných střelbách (Las Vegas, Uvalde, …).

Během domovní prohlídky u něj FBI objevila doslova arzenál zbraní, které měl ve skříni kousek od své postele. Našly se mimo jiné pistole, kulovnice, brokovnice, zbraň typu AK a plynová maska. Nalezena byla také munice a taktická pouzdra. Na fotografii z jeho ložnice je také ručně nakreslený návrh nákladního auta se zbraněmi, spousta pouzder se zásobníky a další vojenské příslušenství. Teixeira se také zjevně snažil zbavit důkazů a protože je to zjevně génius, tak rozbité věci vyhodil do kontejneru před svým domem.

Agenti tam tak našli jeho rozbitý tablet, zničený notebook a herní konzoli Xbox + také krabice od nového iPhonu. Dva dny před zatčením Teixeira kolegům sdělil, že má nové telefonní číslo a email. Na Discordu žádal ostatní uživatele o pomoc s mazáním starších příspěvků.

Obhajoba žádá o jeho propuštění z vazby až do doby, kdy má proběhnout soud, žalobci naopak argumentují, že muž představuje jasné nebezpečí pro národní bezpečnost (teoreticky by stále mohl mít v držení utajené informace, které by dál mohl zveřejnit) a komunitu a samozřejmě je tu riziko, že by se mohl pokusit uprchnout.

Teixeira může skončit na desítky let ve vězení.

Aderyn gave him a steady look. "Yes, Director. I understand." Jauffre settled back. "So no more propositioning your fellow Blade siblings to go behind my back?" Aderyn gave him a half-smile. "Never say never." "You're aware I can just as easily revoke your status as a Blade and return you to your previously dull life with the Grey Fox?" Jauffre asked, a hint of mischief in his aggrieved tone. "Bold of you to assume my life previously was dull." "I'm sure you got shot at much less." Aderyn hawed. "Fifty-fifty," she said, a grin creeping over her face. "But yes. I will not go behind your back again – unless I consider it absolutely vital to Martin's safety." She took a sip, eyebrows raised over her glass. "Or yours." Jauffre sniffed. "I can assure you I can take care of myself. But I suppose I must be satisfied with that." They fell into silence again, as Aderyn finished her drink and the Director rose to pour himself another. "Get some rest," he said, taking her glass. Aderyn struggled to her feet and raised her eyebrows. "Et tu, brute." Jauffre raised an eyebrow. "Men are flesh and blood, and apprehensive. Yet in their number, I do know but one that unassailable holds, unshaked of motion: and that I am he, constant as the northern star." Aderyn blinked. "I'm gonna assume that's a yes, then," she said and walked out.

Fray

As promised, Martin was soon sliding plates of omelette and salad onto the table, chatting amicably with Baragon. "Oh, here," Baurus said, drawing Aderyn out of her thoughts. "Pelagius asked me to give you this." He passed over a leather wallet, the edges fraying and split. "They found it on Jerl's body. Director Preston said you might find it useful." "Oh. Yeah, cheers," she said, starting to examine the contents. Baurus watched her for a moment, his eyes creased in faint amusement. "Aderyn," he said, after another moment. She murmured at him, distracted. "Omelette." She stopped in the middle of examining a credit card and looked up. "What?" He raised his eyebrows, still amused, and nodded down to her plate. "Eat. Before it gets cold."

Miss

Jena finally turned, leaning back against the counter and folding her arms, gaze fixed on the flagstones. "I'll give you this, Rookie, you've got some fucking stones on you." She looked up. "You've been in the boss' good graces all of a fortnight and you're willing to screw that over for one man's sanity?" "And the fate of the world, Jen," Aderyn said with a cocky smirk. "Don't forget the big and terrible weapon we're keeping out of the hands of bad guys." "Oh, of course," Jena said, rolling her eyes, good humour replacing the dark talk of betrayal. "How could I possibly forget that the fate of the world is in the hands of a twenty-year-old who eats nothing but super noodles." "Er, excuse you. Twenty-four years old. And I eat more than super noodles." "My apologies, Little Miss 'Pizza is a Vegetable'." Aderyn sniggered. "Never gonna let me live that down are you?" Clean

The job was indeed simple – deceptively so. The GHOST system that the Corporation of the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York had installed was a brilliant piece of technology – one that caught her out. Getting into the reliquary room was no problem. The room the reliquary was in was a self-contained unit, with the reliquary itself sitting on a pressure pad. She thought she'd disabled the silent alarms, and the pressure sensor's activator, but had not been prepared for a second activator and the gout of powder that erupted from the base when she moved the statuette. It coated her face and front, and it was only thanks to the filter in her balaclava that prevented her from breathing any of the power in. Even so, the powder clung when she didn't want it to – sticking to clothing and her gloves as she tried to brush it off – and flaked away when she didn't want to, dropping behind her in a luminous greenish trail that glowed in the dark.

Outside, she positively skipped her wait towards Lucinda and the waiting officials. "That device is amazing," she gushed to the steward. "It's so clever – all the layers of redundancy? And whatever this is? It ain't mentioned anywhere on the literature, and the patent is still pending so it's an utter secret, and, goddamn, you've made an excellent choice with this security system. I am well impressed." The steward regarded her with an air of confusion. "But... you didn't succeed?" he said. "By being covered in the powder, you have lost. Why are you so excited?" Grim

Martin had never run towards someone as fast in his life. His feet pounded on the stairs – solid as they hit the concrete steps leading up from the basement safe room; hollow drumming as he hammered up the flights in the main house.

She was sitting on the edge of the bed in the infirmary. Baragon was muttering to himself as he stitched a long gash on her leg. Bandages were already wrapped around her shoulder and upper arm. She sat in a tank top and shorts, the hard white of the strip lights making her look paler than usual, under the grime and mud and blood. Hair escaped from its usually tight bun, hanging lank and damp around her face. Her shoulders were curved inwards, the leg that wasn't being stitched drawn up to her chest and clasped. In the short time they'd known each other, Martin couldn't recall her ever looking so sorry for herself. She looked so young. "I- Ah... I heard you needed a priest?" he said softly from the door.

náhodné poznatky z mého ročního života v centrálním Texasu mezi českými Texasany:

čeští Texasani jsou neuvěřitelné kombo neochvějného konzervatismu, amerického patriotismu, jižanské zdvořilosti, pohostinnosti, lehkého alkoholismu, silného náboženství, texaského drawlu, a suchého českého humoru. Kdo nezažil nikdy nepochopí jak toto funguje dohromady. Jsou úžasní. Ale taky děsiví.

čeští Texasani jsou z většiny kořeny Moraváci a jsou na to náležitě pyšní.

Češi (Moraváci) poprvé přišli ve větším počtu do Texasu v polovině 19. století – spousta jich umřela po cestě ale nakonec se usadili v centrálním Texasu a před tím než začala v Americe Občanská válka bylo jich skoro 1000. Co jsem tak pochopila, přišli z podobného důvodu jako všichni ostatní, aka American Dream dyja dyjá dá, ale taky z náboženských důvodů. Taky si myslím že ropa.

bylo mi řečeno, že hispánští imigranti si nemají na co stěžovat, protože první čeští imigranti v Texasu to měli taky těžký pže byli šikanováni ve škole a nikdo je nelitoval! Já: *sweats nervously*

(prej byli o stupeň níž než Irčani na žebříčku imigrantů, což mi ale přišlo jako zajímavý poznatek)

2. generace českých Texasanů (dnes buď skoro vymřelá nebo nad hrobem) buď neumí česky vůbec, protože na ně rodiče odmítali po emigraci mluvit (česky) a nebo česky umí ale mluví dialektem kterej už u nás neexistuje nebo pomalu (ale jistě) vymírá. Mluvit s nimi je zážitek na celý život.

3. generace českých Texasanů (aneb ta kterou jsem primárně učila češtinu, věkový průměr 60) češtinu slyšela občas od svých prarodičů, kteří se za ty roky trochu uvolnili, takže umí důležitá slova jako “pivo”, “pupek”, “kostel” a “doma” – jinak ticho po pěšině.

Na slova pupek a pupík byli z nějakého důvodu obzvláště upnutí.

Moji undergrad studenti na univerzitě (tedy už 5. generace českých Texasanů – ty jsem ovšem česky neučila, ty jsem měla na předmět Technical English Writing – yes really) – neuměli česky ani slovo a o svých kořenech neví nic a nezajímá je to protože se identifikují jako Američani; nicméně je strašně roztomilé když si čtete seznam svojí sekce a mezi jménama jako “Asleigh Campbell” a “Jesus Gonzales” najednou vyskočí “Emmet Vancura”

čeští Američani se velmi často berou mezi sebou

Jednou mi přišel týpek dát nový baterky do požárního hlásiče na bytě a řekl mi, že si jeho sestra vzala českýho Texasana (4. gen) a že svého syna chtěli pojmenovat česky tak aby to vyjadřovali sílu v souvislosti s ohněm… tak ho pojmenovali Vařič (píše se to teda Varic). True story. Neměla jsem to srdce mu říct co to znamená.

Jak už jsem zmínila, učila jsem v Texasu češtinu. Moji studenti byli převážně z té 3. generace. Byla to výzva z obou stran, jelikož oni uměli jenom “pupek” a já nejsem vzděláním učitelka češtiny.

Výuka probíhala v kostele.

Já (každý týden): do you want me to teach you the Moravian or the Bohemian version of that expression?

Já (zapomíná slovo feminine): well, you see, the chair is… a girl.

Já: well, you see, the endings change because…. ah hell, you’d never get it anyway. It just does and we’ll leave it at that. Oni: No, we wanna know! Show us! Já: *vysvětluje system pádových otázek, pot teče proudem* Oni: Ah. Ugh. Let’s not look into that anymore, then. We’ll never get it anyway! Já: ლ(ಠ益ಠლ).

Oni (zapřísáhlí republikáni s MAGA nálepkama na autech): Teach us something about current politics in the Czech Republic! Já: *sweats nervously* Já: let’s talk some more about pivo.

Strašně je bavilo učit se jména jídel a recepty a moc rádi vaří a někoho hostí. Představte si českou babičku (ne tu knihu, ale tu osobu) na steroidech. Jídlo všude. Furt.

Texaský kolaches prostě nejsou český koláče. Jsou to spíš takový buchty. Je to z jinýho těsta a když už to zvládne být z podobnýho těsta tak nam narvou párek nebo sýr (ne tvaroh ale slanej sýr) takže jsou to spíš takový česko-texaský prasata v županu. A frgály neumí vůbec. A tímto debatu uzavírám.

Přeci jen doplním: byla jsem porotkyně na kolache festivalu (což pro mě bylo jako pro veganku už samo o sobě fakt vzrůšo) kde hrála živá texaská dechovka – česky. Nejvíc adorable česko-texaská událost ever.

To jak vyslovovali slovo “koníčky” mě bude strašit ve snu ještě tak deset let.

Slivovici se říká “slivo” (čti zakulacené o jako ve slově “hello”) a buď se kupuje Jelínek v liquor storech a nebo se pašuje domácí z Moravy letadlem (aneb když jste rozpoznatelně bílí – nebo v mém případě až nemocně bledí – v Houstonu na letišti vám nikdo zavazadlo prohledávat nebude, ozkoušeno mnou).

v USA existuje soutěž krásy které se účastní jenom Američanky s českými a slovenskými kořeny (v krojích). Najděte si to.

čeští Texasani jsou silně nábožensky založení (hodně jich je členy Unity of the Brethren nebo jsou Moravští Katolíci) a fakt že jsem ateistka (a moje naléhání že většina země je) nesli velmi těžce. I tak mě zvládli dotáhnout na několik kázání, protože prostě nedokázali pochopit, že to není normální součást mýho života. Me: *sweats nervously in church*.

shrnu to tím, že pro český Texasany byste dýchali ale ten cringe je holt občas silnější.

I've always been on B's TG16 team. LOL we haven't had this convo for awhile. Big thing for me was everybody was there - Eric and Jill and her family, Jen's sis and i think Lizzie and Gregory and lots of Sheltons. The helicopter ride with all the girls though - they were so excited. Something was up. I've always thought maybe they had a civil ceremony but aren't going to feel really married or declare until they have that church ceremony that means a lot. But I'll go with commitment ceremony. ❤

I had a girlfriend back in school that "needed to do a spell" so she cut the back of my neck with a razor and drank me untill I passed out.

“What do you mean you don’t have another flight for six hours?” Saying you were frustrated was an understatement. “How can that possibly be? This is Dallas. I am going to Minneapolis. How can you not have any additional flights?”

The agent at the boarding gate smiled politely but it was completely fake. “Miss Y/L/N, I would be happy to put you on the three o’clock flight, but until then we are booked. The noon flight doesn’t have any open seats. That is the best I can do, I’m sorry.”

“If I am not in Minneapolis by four o’clock this afternoon, I am going to miss my sister’s wedding rehearsal. It’s not bad enough that she is the pretty twin and the successful one, but now I am going to be late. Her soon-to-be husband is damn near perfect and now I am never going to hear the end of it from my mother!” Your rant, however, fell on deaf ears as the employee turned to help the next person in line.

You flopped down in a chair, eyeing the bar restaurant across the concourse. Checking your watch, you decided you had earned it, even if it was only nine in the morning. You grabbed the handle of your carry-on and rolled it behind you all the way to the bar. The bartender approached you. “What can I get you miss?”

“Bloody, please,” you sighed and waited while he mixed your breakfast. He handed the drink to you and you handed him your card. “Can you just start me a tab, please?” He nodded and placed your card in the register.

You took your drink and your bags to a table near the window. Pulling out your phone, you dreaded the call you needed to make, but it had to be done. Your mother was not going to be happy and you anticipated that once again, you would be a disappointment.

“Yes, Mother. I am aware….How am I supposed to control the traffic and an accident?...Yes, of course, I clearly didn’t plan enough time to arrive early for my flight….Yes, Mother, of course...Tell Jen I’m sorry. I will catch a cab and arrive at the church as soon as my flight lands in Minneapolis...Yes, goodbye, Mother.” You slammed your phone down a little harder than necessary, but you were mad. You worked very hard and were doing well for yourself. You had stayed up until three in the morning to ensure all of your clients would be taken care of in your absence, which is why you overslept. The accident wasn’t your fault, but you were going to disappoint your mother, father and your sister. You took another sip of your Bloody Mary and watched the planes take off.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on your conversation, but you look troubled,” a deep voice sounded from above you. You craned your neck to see the tallest, most handsome man ever, standing next to your table.

“Um, yeah, something like that?” you scoffed and played with your straw.

“I might be able to help. I’m Sam, by the way,” he took a seat at your table and stuck his hand out. You gave him your name and extended yours as well; his hand dwarfed yours. You smiled across the table at him, finally getting a good look. He was quite handsome, his hair a little longer than you usually liked, but it suited him. He had a deep dimple in each cheek and the way the morning sun sparkled in his eyes - blue and green, mixed with hints of gold - made you think you were looking into the Northern Lights.

“How can you possibly help me, Sam?” you continued to eye him as he played with the label on his beer bottle. At least you were no longer drinking alone.

“So you are headed to Minneapolis?” he asked and you nodded in affirmation. “Me, too. For my brother’s wedding.”

DUBLIN únor 2022

Jelikož jsem si fakt oblíbila víkendový letenky, tak jsem nemohla vynechat akci do Dublinu. Letěli jsme v sobotu dopo a vraceli se v neděli večer. Platili jsme nakonec asi 1300,-, protože jsme se docela dlouho rozmýšleli. A musim říct, že nám těch asi 26 hodin úplně v pohodě stačilo. Nechodili jsme teda nikam dovnitř (myslím galerie, muzea a tak) a stihli jsme úplně všechno a i nějaký místa navíc.

Z letiště jsme jeli autobusem Airlink a lístky jsme si kupovali za 8 EUR přímo na místě. Autobus jsme viděli hned, když jsme vystoupili z haly a taky tam byl rovnou stánek, kde prodávali lístky. Jen teda systém autobusů jsme úplně nepochopili :D Podle jízního řádu měl jet ve 14:30 (nekupovali jsme schválně lístek online předem, protože jsme nevěděli, jak se zdržíme na pasový kontrole). No a nakonec jsme odjížděli busem ve 14:15, čas na lístku žádný nebyl a ještě s ním nejeli všichni, kdo tam čekali, ale jen lidi do centra :D 

Každopádně jsme za 20 minut byli v centru a hned jsme se vyadali na fish and chips k obědu :D Pak už jsme si udělali klasické turistické tour po památkách -  Christ Church Cathedral, St Patrick's Cathedral, Trinity College, Dublin Castle...U skoro každý jsme teda čekali, že bude větší :D Celkově je Dublin docela malý, všechno je blízko a v pohodě se dá všude chodit pěšky. 

Odpoledne jsme chtěli někam na pivo, což byl dodela problém :D Zrovna se totiž hrálo rugby, takže už ve čtyři byly hodpody totálně narvaný. Ale nakonec jsme místo získali a dali si Guinnesse. Pak jsme se rozhodli jít ubytovat, což bylo kousek. Bydleli jsme v hotelu Clifton court. Hotel byl v pohodě, jen v pokoji bylo fakt strašný vedro a topení se ovládalo centrálně. Ale naštěstí šly otevírat okna :D

Pak už se nám ani nikde moc chodit nechtělo, takže jsem zapadli do hospody  Merchant's Arch, kde bylo místo i přes rugby. Po jeho skončení tam hrál a zpíval kytarista, což je tam taky běžný a je to super. Tam jsme si dali pár pivek, ale jako skoru všude v centru byly za 6,8 EUR a tak jsme se snažili vygooglit levnější :D Takže jsme se přesunuli do Cleary's Pub, kde bylo plno míst a pivo za 5 EUR.

Druhý den ráno jsme teda nebyli úplně fresh, ale i tak jsme vyrazili za dalšími turiscikými cíly -  The Hugh Lane, The Basin, King's Inns, The Black Church, St.Stephen's Green, Stephen's Green Shopping Centre a další. No a pak už jsme si jen dali jídlo a vyrazili na letiště. Jelikož jsme měli dost času, rozhodli jsme se jet autobusem č. 16 ze zastávky College Green. Cesta stojí 3,3 EUR (musíte mít peníze přesně) a autobus jede asi 40 minut, když není provoz. Ale cesta byla super, protože jsme měli místa hned v první řadě v horním patře double-deckeru :)

I took a few weeks’ break to enjoy the married life, that dweam wifin a dweam.

Being married is AWESOME.  I totally recommend it.  Definitely worth taking a break for.  But it does mean I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!  There’s all these great stories about married life, the honeymoon (a Caribbean cruise…it was fabulous), moving houses, everything…things have been crazy.  In fact, I shouldn’t be blogging at all.  I should be cleaning or writing thank-you notes.  (Er…what is the etiquette for those, anyway?  I hope it’s not like within a month after the wedding or I am in big trouble.  They are coming, I swear!)

This post today is about  THE WEDDING.

There is SO MUCH to say about the wedding.  This is going to be a BIG blog post.  Brace yourselves.

We didn’t have much time to plan the wedding.  It was a 2-month engagement.  We are old and don’t mess around.  Thankfully, I had The World’s Most Beautiful Wedding Dress™ already hanging in my closet, so I didn’t need to worry about that!*

I also put together style guides for all the vendors and bridesmaids and everyone involved.  A style guide is basically a library of pictures and direction for what the project will look like.  (Being an animation director teaches you things).

(The decorators looked at me like I was crazy when I handed this to them haha.)

The colors were white, ivory, and rose gold.  I wanted to channel a very classy, vintage feel (with a touch of Mary Poppins.)  I ended up loving these colors even more than I expected.  They are just glamorous.

My cousin Melisa, a pastry chef, worked the cake, and Jen’s Bowdacious Bows worked on the floral and Waffle Love got reserved for catering and gosh everything just came together like a dream!

There were a few hiccups.

Like, I had no idea how much food to order.  Mormon weddings are more of an open house, so you’re not quite sure how many people will show up.  I stressed a bit over that.

300 less than what I ordered, it turns out.

The decorators were really frustrating to work with. (They were pretty unorganized.)  I tried hard to not be a bridezilla…

But I was.

I ended up making the centerpieces.

Actually my friend Susan Arnita put the centerpieces together.

FIRST:  PICTURES!!

We got bridals/groomals done a couple of weeks before the wedding, on March 9th.  This turned out to be a really good idea, because the weather was beautiful.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Those were the bridals.  (BTW, is bridals/groomals just a Utah thing?  I had a couple of people asking if that was normal here.  I’m actually not sure…I thought everyone did bridals, but I kind of live under a rock.  Maybe someone can tell me in the comments.)

The wedding day came fast and not fast enough.  A week before, the forecast looked like this:

I woke up around 5:30 AM and went to my hair person, Cindy Peterson, and she did my hair gorgeous.

I don’t have a close up pic of that but it was beautiful.

Then I headless chickened while getting ready, making sure I had my temple recommend, clothes, makeup, shoes, everything, before we headed to Salt Lake to get married here:

Didn’t take pictures inside (of course), but it was a really nice ceremony.  I loved going into the sealing room and seeing the smiling faces of all my family.  It made me all teary-eyed.

I nearly said “Yes” at the wrong time, and I was blushing crimson for the rest of the ceremony.

But it was still amazing.

We were released into the wild :)

The kids were so excited to see us.  They welcomed Uncle Brent into the family.

Haha I have like a million nieces and nephews.

I inherited a new niece and nephew, too!

Ava, who’s 5, gave me a big hug.

I met Ava over Christmas, and she is so sweet.  When she found out that I lived all alone in my townhouse, she was heartbroken.

And I was like:

Hey, yeah!  I could marry a homeless guy!  Hahaha!

(Brent didn’t like that idea.)

Lololol.  Kids are the best.

Magically, the weather held up.  No rain or snow, but a storm blew up and made the pictures more interesting.

I had Jr. Bridesmaids too (my nieces.)  They were fantastic!

It was so great to have all the family there.

After lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory, it was RECEPTION TIME.

My sis Emily played the piano.

She played all the best songs, everything from Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Slipper and the Rose, it was a Sherman Brothers Spectacle.  She knows just what I love #^_^#

The sign on the piano, it says: “All the Single Ladies – Please Take a Rose in Lieu of a Bouquet Throw.”

I didn’t want a bouquet throw at my wedding.  I’ve never liked them–it’s just so sad that only one person gets the bouquet.  I wanted everyone to have one.  So, all the single ladies got roses.

They loved it :)

And then, it was time for The Dance.

A few weeks before the wedding, I told The Handsome how much I wanted to dance the Cinderella Waltz at my wedding.

He was ON IT.  (Seriously, what a dream boy!)

We spent a lot of hours getting it down.

I was sooo nervous…but it turned out great :)

A big thanks to all the people who sent me their recordings so I could cut it together.

End of the night.  We made an exit.

That was magical too :)

AAAAH and the bridesmaids had decorated the car like a BOSS.

It was exactly the way a car ought to be decorated.  It was gorgeous.

It had been a magical day.

But the way Kaczyński is trying to exploit religion is unprecedented. Apart from his apalling statements about the need to baptize even the severely damaged fetuses that could never survive, he also called for "protection of the churches". Polish neo-Nazis and hooligans interpreted this as a call to attact those protesting the abortion ban. These macho heroes quickly shifted from "protecting Polish women from Islam", which was how they framed their racist actions, to physically attacking Polish women. It is up to women only to decide if we want to bring a new life into this world. It is not any man's decision, not even when he claims to represent God's will. Kaczyński claims that outside of the Catholic church is only nihilism and destruction. But our ability to take responsibility for such a major decision as interruption doesn't turn us into nihilists. It requires great strength and takes a lifetime to cope with, but it is our decision. Social reproduction is mostly a woman's job and it is a basis for all other human activity and the functioning of any society, but it comes with lack of dignity and economic insecurity. Feminism cannot be reduced to the struggle for reproductive rights. It needs to be a broader social struggle that focuses on the way gender inequality is intertwined with other inequalities in a world that prefers ecomonic growth to human health, safety and creativity. Kromě neuvěřitelných výroků o nutnosti pokřtít i života neschopné, težce poškozené plody navíc vyzval k obraně kostelů - což si polští neonacisté a chuligáni vyložili po svém a začali na ženy protestující za reprodukční práva útočit. Tito hrdinové se tak od "bránění polských žen před islámem", za které schovávali svůj rasismus, rychle dostali k jejich fyzickému napadání. Rozhodnout o tom, zda do světa přivede nový život, může jen žena. Nesmí o tom rozhodovat žádný muž, ani když se ohání Bohem. Kaczyński tvrdí, že mimo katolickou církev existuje jen nihilismus, který všechno ničí. To, že jsme schopné přijmout zodpovědnost za tak zásadní rozhodnutí jako jít na interrupci, z nás nedělá nihilistky. Takové rozhodnutí vyžaduje velkou sílu a vyrovnat se s ním je práce na celý život, ale je to jen naše rozhodnutí. Sociální reprodukce leží převážně na bedrech žen a je základem pro veškerou další lidskou činnost a chod společnosti, a přitom je spojená s nedůstojnými podmínkami a ekonomickou nejistotou. Feminismus proto nesmí být jen bojem za reproduční práva, ale sociálním bojem upozorňujícím na provázanost genderových nerovností s dalšími nerovnostmi ve světě, který preferuje ekonomický růst před lidským zdravím, bezpečím a seberealizací. A protože mé cesty vždy spojují architekturu /a dobré jídlo v dalším článku/, zde 5 prověřených tipů. Záměrně vynechávám historické budovy. Jejich výčet by vydal na týden čtení a najdete jej v každém průvodci. Kromě již zmíněné vily Borghese, kde je vstup nutno rezervovat dopředu, jsem se nechávala unést ulicemi, žasla nad krásou antických soch a opulentností staveb a mé toulání mne vždy dovedlo k místu, které jsem si přála vidět.

Pallazo delle Poste je jedním z hlavních příkladů římského racionalismu, mezinárodního hnutí zaměřeného na naléhavost řádu a logiky. Architektonický styl je zde výsledkem aplikace racionality a dokonalé korespondence mezi budovou a její funkcí. Vedou se sice diskuse o jeho autorství, ale podívejte se na Casa Malaparte, nádherný architektonický poklad, usazený na skále nad mořem na ostrově Capri.

3. Muzeum Ara Pacis Jako by všechny moderní stavby byly urážkou a pošpiněním starověkého Říma i Muzeum Ara Pacis má řadu odpůrců, ale i zastánců. Barbara Ann Church, age 78, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019 at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville. She was born November 23, 1940 in Wilkes County to Monroe and Grace Brewer Johnson. Mrs. Church was a member of Miller Cross Baptist Church. Barbara retired from Wilkes County Board of Education after 27 years as cafeteria manager at Mtn. View Elementary  School. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Harold Johnson.

 Mary Foster, 89

Mrs. Mary Ruth Call Foster, age 89 of North Wilkesboro, died Saturday, April 6, 2019 at her home.

           Funeral services were April 9,  at Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church with Rev. David Wellborn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

           Mrs. Foster was born June 28, 1929 in Wilkes County to Barney and Minnie Eller Benton Call.  She worked at Ithaca and was  a great mother and grandmother.

           She was preceded in death by per parents; a son-in-law, Butch Williams; one sister, Nora "Jypies" Benton Shew; two brothers, Harden Benton and Sylvester "Pate" Benton; and two grandsons, Danny Alan Williams and Coach Barry Lee Williams.

           She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Ann Porter and husband, Albert, and Patsy Call Williams, both of North Wilkesboro; one grandson, Terry Porter; and two great-grandchildren, Cody Lynn Porter and Dillan Theodore Porter; one sister, Sallie Benton Shew of North Wilkesboro.

Bertha Triplett, 84

Bertha Blevins Triplett, age 84, of Hays, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Rose Glen Manor. She was born November 12, 1934 in Wilkes County to Elmore and Epsie Wood Blevins. Ms. Triplett was a member of Rachel Baptist Church. She was retired from Tyson Foods.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Wayne Triplett; daughter, April Dawn Hensley; grandchild, Little Joe Spears; brothers, A.C. Blevins, Aldean Blevins; sisters, Beulah Perry and Mildred Jean Burchette.

           Surviving are her children, James "Moonpie" Viles of Sanford, Ricky Viles and spouse Carolyn of McGrady, Mary Triplett, Jana Lee Triplett, Alton Ray "Dinker" Hensley all of Hays; sister, Rosa Lee Rhoades of North Wilkesboro; brothers, James Blevins and spouse Diane of Rex, Georgia, Ralph Blevins and spouse Mary, Marcus Blevins and spouse Emma all of Hays; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

           Memorial service was April 9,  at Mtn. Valley Baptist Church in McGrady with Rev. Ronnie McManus and Rev.   Edmond Welborn, 79

Mr. Edmond Ray "Wendy" Welborn, age 79 of Wilkesboro, died Friday, April 5, 2019 at SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin.

           Funeral services were April 9,   at Edgewood Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Tharpe and Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. .

           Mr. Welborn was born January 23, 1940 in Wilkes County to Ed and Nell Church Welborn.  He was a member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church.  

           He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Christine Cooper; and one brother, Glenn Welborn.  

           He is survived by his wife, Brenda Anderson Welborn, of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Hayes and husband, Ken, of Wilkesboro; four sons, Josh Welborn of Wilkesboro, Junior Welborn and wife, Annette, of Purlear, Mickey Welborn and wife, Sharon, of McGrady, and Mike Welborn and wife, Delores, of Moravian Falls; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Bryant Welborn and wife, JoAnn, of Purlear; and a special nephew, Thad Anderson.

           Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin, 243 North Lee Street, Yadkinville NC 27055.

Monty Burke, 36

Mr. Monty Reginald Burke, 36, of Millers Creek, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

           Monty was born on June 1, 1982 in Wilkes County to Clinton Esaue Burke and Yvonne Dunavant Burke

           Monty is survived by his parents; son, Jason Burke of Millers Creek; brother, Bradley Burke and wife, Joanna; and nephews, Dakota and Sean Burke, all of Millers Creek.  

           The family will conduct a graveside memorial service on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Burke Family Cemetery on Mertie Road in Millers Creek.

 Norma Moore, 62

Norma Jean Anderson Moore, age 62, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1956 in Wilkes County to Arthur and Della Mae Brown Anderson. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Phyllis Diane Bowers.

           Surviving are her husband, Tommy Ray Moore; daughter, Angela "Squeaky" Cockerham and husband Jamie of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Zachery Minton, Cody Minton; brothers, Wayne "Lard" Anderson and wife Nancy, Carl Anderson and wife Barbara all of Wilkesboro; two nephews; and one niece.

           Funeral service was April 6,   at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Younce officiating. Burial followed in Scenic Memorial Gardens.  Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.  

 Maggie Church, 82

Mrs. Maggie Edith Jennings Church, age 82 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Wilkes Senior Village.

           Funeral services were April 7,  at Cricket Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Hall and Rev. James Wingler officiating. Burial was in Hilltop Baptist Church cemetery.

           Mrs. Church was born July 14, 1936 in Wilkes County to Ernest Jennings and wife Maggie Ann Hutchinson Jennings. She was retired from Holly Farms/Tyson Foods.  Mrs. Church was a member of Cricket Baptist Church.      

           In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters; Carol Poteat, Doris Lavitich, Dorothy Fitzgerald and Evelyn Jennings and four brothers; Roy Jennings, Claude Jennings, Tommy Hutchinson, Lee Hutchinson and Jim Hutchinson.

           She is survived by her husband, Billy George Church of North Wilkesboro; a daughter, Tammy Bowlin and husband, Randy, of Millers Creek; three sons, Ricky Eller and wife, Teresa, of North Wilkesboro, Steve Eller and wife, Junie, of North Wilkesboro and Billy Church of North Wilkesboro; eight grandchildren, Casey Minton, Nevin Johnson, Kati Petrey, Lathan Church, Colton Church, Sherri Cothren, Shana Johnson, Clayton Mathis; eight great grandchildren, Beckam Minton, Barrett Minton, Erin Cothren, Paulina Johnson, Michael Johnson, Adam Mathis, Ansleigh Mathis and Jacey Cothren; one great- great grandchild, Braylen Bell; and a brother, Jay Jennings of Palm Beach, FL.

Ron Russell, 68

Ron "Buster" Russell, age 68, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019. He was born July 26, 1950 in Wilkes County to Jack and Beatrice Broyhill Russell. Mr. Russell was a 30 year self-employed auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Clyde Russell and Phillip Russell.

           Surviving are his wife, Delta Sheets Russell; brother, Barry Russell and wife Ellen of Boomer; sisters, Mary Johnson and husband Bill of North Wilkesboro, Teresa Russell of Moravian Falls; several nieces and nephews; and his cat Misty.

           A private family service will be held at a later date. The family request no flowers and no food, please. Mr. Wade Jones Miller, age 79 of Millers Creek, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center.

           Funeral services were April 6th,  at Millers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Shannon Critcher officiating. Burial was in Piney Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.  

           Mr. Miller was born August 6, 1939 in Ashe County to Lee Miller and wife Mira Elizabeth Miller. He retired from Miller Engineering. Mr. Miller was a member of Millers Creek Baptist Church.  

           In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Nadine Craven and three brothers; Earl Miller, Vaughn Miller and Dale Miller.

           He is survived by his wife; Iva Deane Bowlin Miller of the home, a daughter; Kim Gambill and husband Tommy of Millers Creek, a son; Neil Miller and wife Nina of Ferguson, three grandchildren; Kyle Gambill, Jenna Miller and Myra Gambill, a sister; Ruth Seagraves of Greensboro and two brothers; Ford Miller of Marion and Ralph Miller of Glendale Springs.

Sandra Gilreath, 62

Mrs. Sandra (Sandy) Gentry Gilreath, age 62 of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center.

           Funeral services were April 7,  at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Brent Bailey and Bishop George Morgan officiating. Burial was in Scenic Memorial Gardens.  

           Mrs. Gilreath was born March 7, 1957 in Wilkes County to Junior Huey and Betty Evelyn Redmon Hague.  She was a member of Grace Kingdom Life Ministries and a 1975 graduate of Wilkes Central High School.  

           She was preceded in death by her mother and a grandson; William Kenneth Gilreath, Jr.

           She is survived by her husband; William Gilreath of the home, two daughters; Sonya and Tia Gilreath both of Wilkesboro, one son; Kenneth Gilreath of Purlear, father; Junior Huey Hague, three grandchildren; Jayveon Ross, Logan Sharpe, Alena Gilreath, one sister; Deborah Nelson of Moravian Falls, three brothers; Michael Gentry and wife Gail of Mebane, Junior Hague of North Wilkesboro and Thomas Hague of Columbus, OH. and two goats; Zibi and Zoey.

Linda Gray, 74

Linda Sue Gray, age 74, of Ronda, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. She was born April 8, 1944 in Wilkes County to Denver Woodrow Johnson, Sr. and Ola Blanche Hamby Johnson. Mrs. Gray was a member of Wilkes Faith Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Glenn "Joe" Gray; sister, Viola Watson; and brothers, Denver Woodrow Johnson, Jr. and Danny Lee Johnson.

           Surviving are her daughter, Sheila Stanley of Ronda; son, Jody Gray of Peoria, Arizona; and grandson, Denver Seth Gray of Peoria, Arizona.

           Funeral service was April 6,  at Wilkes Faith Church in Ronda with Pastor Bobby Jenkins, Jr. and Rev. Johnny Arnold officiating.  Paul  Shore, Jr, 77

Mr. Paul Nathan Shore, Jr., better known as "Junior", age 77 of Hamptonville, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 1, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

           Funeral services were Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Hamptonville with Rev. Kenny Pardue officiating.  

           Mr. Shore was born October 24, 1941 in Wilkes County to Paul Nathan Shore, Sr. and wife Louise Gregory Shore. He was retired from the textile industry and farming. Mr. Shore was a member of Union Baptist Church in Hamptonville.

           He was preceded in death by his parents.

           Mr. Shore is survived by his wife of almost fifty six years; Brenda Chambers Shore, three children; Kamela Shore Greene and husband Chris of Ronda, Derrick Shore and wife Karen of North Wilkesboro and Chad Shore and wife Liz of Hamptonville, eight grandchildren; Kaleb Hemric and wife Carrie, Logan Hemric and wife Brittany, Lariat Hemric and wife Celyna, Danielle Shore, Kandis Shore, Bryson Shore, Brady Shore and Brylee Shore, two great grandchildren; Weston Hemric and Mila Hemric, a brother; Larry Shore and wife Debbie of Hamptonville, two nephews; Brandon Shore and wife Erica and Justin Shore and wife Lindsey, great nephew; Mason Shore and great niece; Aubree Shore.

   Bonnie  Jones, 84

Mrs. Bonnie Rae Jones, 84, of North Wilkesboro, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019.

           Bonnie was born on October 20, 1934 in Sullivan Tennessee to Oscar Kenneth Jones and Cora Jones.

           Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; son, Douglas Pratt, one brother, and four sisters.  

           Bonnie is survived by daughters, Donna Pratt of North Wilkesboro, Joyce Shew ( Jimmy) of Wilkesboro; son, Jerry Pratt of Wilkesboro; sister, Mavis Forbes (Jack) of Kingsport TN; brothers, Larry Jones (Rosa) of Michigan, Johnny Jones (Karen); 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Pansy Rhoades Wagoner, age 78 of North Wilkesboro passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at Rose Glen Manor.

 Alice Lambert 73

Alice Sue Lambert, age 73, of Roaring River, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at her home. Alice was born October 31, 1945 in Ashe County to Oscar and Frances Royal Bare. She loved to garden and care for others. Mrs. Lambert worked for Ithaca for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy Eugene Lambert; and five siblings.

Surviving are her children, Billy Farmer of North Wilkesboro, Sandra Phillips and spouse Rodney of McGrady, Debra Blackburn and husband Keith, Joey Farmer, April Roten and spouse Scott all of Roaring River; siblings, Bronc Bare of Laurel Springs, Fannie Blanton of Ferguson, Wilma Caldwell of Lenoir, Alonzo Bare of North Wilkesboro, Carolyn Medley of Sparta, Jerry Bare of Wilkesboro; thirteen grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren.

Funeral service was April 4, 2019 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Hall officiating.  Johnny Wiles, 75

Johnny Roger Wiles, age 75, of Hays, passed away March 30, 2019 at Woltz Hospice Home. He was born August 30, 1943 in Wilkes County to Elbert and Ruby Pruitt Wiles.

Mr. Wiles was the successful owner and operator of Quality Fence Company.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Margaret Wiles.

Surviving his children, daughter, Cortney Wiles of Maiden, N.C., son, Preston Wiles of Hays, daughter, Tommie Wiles of North Wilkesboro, daughter, Tish Baker and spouse Lonnie of Tyler, Texas, daughter, Dana Wiles of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Carson Gambill, Laken Baker, Aiden Baker; sisters, Helen Blackburn, Pauline Caudill, Tathel Faircloth and spouse Stanley, Carolyn Osborne, Shirley Wiles; and brothers, Jack Wiles, Danny Wiles and spouse Vanessa.

  Sherman  Clonch, 79

Mr. Sherman Clifton Clonch, 79, of North Wilkesboro, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.

Sherman was born on June 25, 1939 in Wilkes County to the Late Henry Edgar Clonch and Mollie Varina Gryder Clonch.

Sherman is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Reinhardt Clonch; daughter, Shirlene Goforth; brother, John Clonch; two grandchildren, Kayla Sheree Clonch and Brian Shawn Clonch.  

Sherman is survived by his daughter, Leslie Utt and husband, Steve, of Mt. Airy; sons, David Clonch, Dennis Clonch, both of North Wilkesboro, Eric Clonch and wife, Melissa, of Mills River; step-son, Scott Shore of Ocean Isle Beach; 10 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service was April 7,    at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel, 2109  Moravian Falls Road, Moravian Falls.

Rev. Jay Johnson, age 72 of Millers Creek, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.

 Funeral services were April 2,   at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Millers Creek with Rev. Keith Lyon and Rev. Lawson Horton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.  

Rev. Johnson was born July 13, 1946 in Wilkes County to Albert and Lula Gaynell Staley Johnson. He was retired from Key City Furniture. Rev. Johnson was a Baptist Minister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Jo Ann Harris and a brother; Grady Johnson.  

Rev. Johnson is survived by his wife; Joyce McGee Johnson of the home, a daughter; Lisa Johnson Wagoner and husband Stacey of Purlear, a grandson; Travis Dale, two sisters; Betty Jane Burgess and Carolyn Moore and husband R.L. both of Millers Creek, a brother; William Pinkney Johnson "Sonny" and wife Gaynell of Hays and several nieces and nephews.

Marie Coffer Anglin, age 93 of North Wilkesboro passed into the loving arms of our Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at her home. She was the last surviving child of Gaston and Martha Holt Coffer.

She is survived by daughters Deeda Pearson of Moravian Falls, Debbie Burchette (husband Sherrill) of Elkin; sons Ronnie Anglin (wife Glenda), Steve Anglin, and Alan Anglin (wife Sherry) all of North Wilkesboro.  Her grandchildren Marlene Kilby, Wayne Pearson, Jenny Hiatt, Ronald Anglin, Jr, Scott Anglin, Richard Teague, Timmy Teague, Kim McGuire, and Ashley Anglin. She is also survived by great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Marie retired from the textile industry at age 77 after having last worked at Buster Brown until the plant closed.

She was a faithful member of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School in the children's department at Liberty Grove Baptist Church for many years.

Funeral services wereApril 3, at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church   with Rev. Jeff Collins officiating.   Entombment followed at Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Justin Johnson officiating.
