Spider Swarmers, also known as Skitterbooms in the Wii version, are tiny, lethal monsters first encountered in the Crawling Catacombs. These spiders travel in swarms. They speed-rush nearby Skylanders, then glow red before exploding into a damaging green cloud. They return in Skylanders: Giants as Spiderlings.

I like doing polls, lol. And of course, these could be combined.
Like, what if Knack vibrates in such a way that makes nearby insects very angry? Or what if insects are attracted to the vibration, but Knack interprets this as threatening?
What if there's some nature god that considers relics and beings made from them as violating the laws of entropy? Lol
The beetles in the first game, at least, do seem very robot-like, with the steam vents and drilling mechanism. Then that raises the question of where they come from and why they would be programmed to attack Knack. Or maybe it's like Pokémon and animals can be robots. I have considered drawing Lucas holding a whirlwind bird, idk what they're called.
Most likely, they're like that for whimsy and it's not that deep, but I like trying to come up with lore.

Name: Motobug
Debut: Sonic the Hedgehog
Hi! Isn't it weird that ladybugs are voracious predators? And yet in most media they're aeen as cute little harmless things that would never hurt a fly!
Tumblr media
Ladybugs love hurting a fly.
Motobugs are also voracious predators, and their primary prey is That Troublesome Hedgehog! Although they usually settle for Rings.
Their design has generally stayed consistent over the years, with a single wheel, a red shell, a blue face, exhaust vents, and two spike hands. Presumably, they use their spikes to hunt aphids and other garden insects! It certainly is not any use against their primary prey, That Heroic Hedgehog!
Tumblr media
Recently, there have been two exceptions. The Sonic Frontiers motobug is purple, and the Sonic Forces motobug is silver and futuristic, looking, if anything, like a snail shell!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Motobug appears in a LOT of games, although my two favorite motobugs are from the IDW Comics!
First, there's this lovely fellow
Tumblr media
That I call Motobig! Big enough to Eat That Delicious Hedgehog as his father intended!
And then there is the lovely Brotobug! Or as they officially call it, Motobud!
Tumblr media
That's a bug I can get behind! He's a friendly motobug, the exception to the exception to the rule of ladybug depictions! The entire thesis of IDW sonic comics is that everyone deserves a second, third, and fourth chance, which is embodied in how even Motobud, formerly a faceless footsoldier for the Eggman Empire, can turn good. I won't get into its actual story, you should read it for yourself. Please.
Anyway, I'm not sure how to end this post. Bye! :3

Mactera Collector!
This is part of a bigger concept that I'm working on! Stay tuned!
Mactera Grabber that got addicted to shiny things. Like a magpie, it collects anything shiny, either minerals or metal leftovers from dwarven missions, creating the big pile of shinies. It also found a way to attach metal pieces to body, making some creepy armor.
Its unusual orange color comes from DRG equipment it bites and cuts with its claws and jaws and digesting some in the process.
From time to time it takes dwarves as moving shinies, so be careful! It can take you or your companion and add them to its pile!

The springtail cultures in my terrariums are so interesting to watch because in one terrarium you can see a wholesome example of the springtail community working together to break down a dead leaf and you get to see the decomposition cycle and how terrariums sustain themselves and then in another terrarium you're watching a cage fight that started exactly like the "she's touching me" argument in Lilo and Stitch with the whole neighbourhood stood in a circle to watch shit go down like where is the middle ground here

Description: Butterfly-like creatures that use their elongated mouths to suck the sap from tall trees. Papils tend to seek out trees with poisonous sap, as they can store the toxic agents in their throats and then spit them at enemies when threatened. The glowing scales that disperse from their wings also contain the poison. Unlike adults, the larvae have a rather bland physical appearance, which aids them in mimicking tree leaves.

Name: Mahall
Debut: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Kirby 64 is a wonderful, beautiful game! Its art direction allows it to, in my opinion, look incredible even to this very day. That's thanks to the bright, flat colors and simple shapes! So, so very simple shapes. See this creature? This creature is ovals. And I love this collection of ovals!
Tumblr media
When first encountered, Mahall will simply be one oval. Just a green circle on the ground. It's giving "Don't mind me!". This circle is a reference to one of the most widespread and beloved ground circles, the manhole cover! We all love manhole cover, that which protects us from falling down a big hole into Rat And Gunk World. That's a disc we can trust. But don't step on this one... this one EXPLODES when stepped upon! Why would it do that?!
Tumblr media
This disc is in reality, the operculum of an ambush predator. Mahall, the little yellowish orange lump! It waits in its hole, emerging to attack when Kirby is near. If this thing can cause an explosion while it's lying in wait, one must shudder to imagine what it's capable of when it has a target in its sights...
Tumblr media
It will blow a bubble! Watch out, if that pops in your eyes it might sting slightly! Someone call a pansexual and an asexual, because Mahall's attack methods are all or nothing. But I love the bubble. It's humble. It's realistic! And Mahall is so extremely simple and abstract that it brings a few creatures to mind...
Tumblr media
A blob with a hard, protective covering is as classic as a mollusc can get! I'm not sure Mahall exactly has a SHELL, though. That green thing on its head is much more like an operculum, the flat "door" that many snails use to close off their shells, keeping moisture in and predators out! The eyes of this land snail in the genus Aperostoma are also exactly like Mahall's! That is not impressive, considering they both have the most basic black dot eyes possible, but it's still a fun similarity. Snails are also able to secrete slime bubbles to deal with small intruders! Defensive bubbles are accounted for!
Tumblr media
Even more than a snail, Mahall brings to mind a spittlebug! The planthoppers that, as nymphs, secrete a foam of bubbles to hide in and to keep themselves moist, and wow creatures really love being concealed and moist huh? I can't judge, I close the door when I shower! Spittlebug nymphs are some of the cutest babies on the planet, their simple, round, big-eyed heads resembling Mahall's. And of course, they make bubbles! All the time, intentionally, rather than just in case of emergency, like most snails. Maybe Mahall is a baby spittlebug, wearing quite a hat!
I love when a fictional creature reminds me of real creatures so much, especially when the resemblance is clearly unintentional, and the design is so simple. Someone put a bunch of ovals together, and little did they know, someone in the future would be reminded of their dear friends Tropical Land Snail and Spittlebug. Delight can be found in the simplest of places, if you're willing to welcome it!
