this is just kinda an amalgamation of thoughts with no point to it but. i've been thinking about how the show would explain it if they had buck move on to another love interest next season. and idk how to word this correctly but the thought i'm having is like... if the only given explanation for bucktommy being over and the relationship not being the right one for buck is that tommy was his first boyfriend, for me what that's doing is legitimising the "i'm not your last, i'm your first" which was a statement born out of insecurity! to me the point of that should be tommy was wrong. i need him to be proved wrong.
otherwise... so the moral of the story here is that tommy was right and that buck doesn't understand his own feeings? that he mistook the excitement of the "novelty" of having a boyfriend for having real feelings for someone? that tommy was just a starter boyfriend and buck needs to "try out" other people (because his relationships with women don't count, obviously). biphobia? on the show that won't even let buck say the word bisexual? surprise! but not just that, i'm kinda sick of the whole treating buck like he's not an almost 34 year old man and is instead an impulsive teenage boy who we can't possibly take seriously when he says something about how he's feeling.
ALSO we know that abby was buck's most transformative relationship up until tommy. that i don't disagree with, buck said it himself. but i don't think we should look at it as tommy is only his most transformative relationship because he's a man and he made buck realise he liked men. is that part of it? definitely. but i don't think this was comparable to his other relationships in so many ways. Buck was, as he said, just so comfortable with him. he let tommy look after him and was never made to feel guilty about it. he wanted to move in with him, and while perhaps it was impulsive it wasn't like with taylor where he asked her to avoid telling her something else. he even brought up marriage unprompted! whereas the whole idea of getting engaged to taylor weirded him out. i don't want this relationship to be reduced to the fact that tommy was a man or that he helped buck "figure himself out".
personally i would like it to be made clear that tommy said what he said purely because he was scared of getting his heart broken, not because there was any truth to it. i can't have this end with buck going "yeah, guess he was right". the important points are, 1, he's not his first, and 2, it doesn't fucking matter if he was. I'm not even saying he HAS to end up with tommy. do i think he should? yes. do i think it would be a massively wasted opportunity and a stupid decision if not? yes. but the point is that if he decides to move on all of a sudden after holding on to these feelings for so long, i want to be given a better reason it couldn't work out 🤷‍♂️
(oh, and just adding that as a tommy enjoyer, i don't like leaving him believing that he isn't good enough, and then having that confirmed when buck moves on with someone "better". but whatever.)

Dear Coop: Now that you've won the Hot Wheels 500, what's next?

Question 1: “Now that you’ve won the Hot Wheels 500, what’s next?”
Tumblr media
“Training for next year’s Hot Wheels 500! With only two months between race seasons, it’s important to keep up the momentum if I want to win again! The competition’s going to be tougher than ever, but Im prepared to accept any challenge they throw my way.”
“I’ll be taking a short break from public appearances later this month, but don’t fret! After that period I’ll be attending a few up and coming events and will be announcing new partnerships with sponsors in the lead up to next year’s Hot Wheels 500! I can’t wait to share with everyone what we have coming, but for now, you’ll have to wait and see!”

Saw you're comment on a different post about Warsaw Demeter being canon Griz's daughter in that production. Was that in the book you got, or somewhere else, because I very much love that.
Hi! Yes, it is mentioned twice in the Warsaw book, in both Griz's and Demeter's character descriptions, both mention that other cats stand in the way of them meeting and that Demeter "cannot come to terms with the fact that other cats do not want to accept her mother into the clan"
I do accept it as canon, partially cuz the book and partially cuz in the boot you can see that they do have some sort of a relationship (Deme and Griz reach out to each other in the beginning, Deme seems to be really invested in the whole Griz thing and is really anxious and worried around her, Deme is first one to greet Griz after Vic touches her)
The book has its issues, but as long as it doesn't contradict what can be seen on stage I guess it's as close to a written canon as you can get
And I believe these character descriptions were written based on interviews with the actors/crew and probably the author seeing the show, so there's that
As a bonus, this Deme is Griz's daughter seems to be a Polish prod thing, as someone told me that in the other Polish production, Cats Chorzów, they seem to have kept this idea, but there Deme is Griz's biggest hater and thus is the one to touch her at the end

i think the doomerism about iwtv s3 is misguided and i worry that people are putting a fear of louis, a black character, being sidelined over the entire narrative of the last two seasons which consistently demonstrated that the writers are not interested in doing that. i understand the fear, but it's based on the track record of other shows, not this one. i think if they were going to do that it would torch the established foundation of the past two seasons and i have a hard time believing no one on the production or writing team would have a problem with that. rolin jones loves lestat, its true, but he was also still the showrunner when 1x05 was made. and when 2x07 was made. which both very importantly remind the audience to view lestat as a powerful white man who unambiguously abused two black people and got sympathy for it. claudia stood up at the trial and said oh so now HE apologises it's all okay? what about me? i have a hard time believing rolin jones is going to forget that with season 3. just because the spotlight is on lestat now doesn't make it all okay, just like claudia said.

No actually the band assuming chive and glam are fucking and never outright stating it (beyond the drummer's fucking bizarre convo with glam about condoms) is hilarious because it implies the band lives on with this misconception. To this day the rest of the band believes they lost their lead guitarist because he refused to move on after they fired his boyfriend & lead singer
#random thoughts#metal family#radio host interviewing who are those freaks on stage: keeping in mind mercury's status as a queer icon#have you ever performed with any lgbtq artists?#lordy: oh have i got a story for you#glam in the midst of cooking another wonderful family dinner suddenly feels a chill running up his back#and this leads to this controversy where some people are like 'he outed chive and glam without their permission'#and some are like 'lordy's gay it's fine' (he's not)#and there's a divide between watfos hardcore fans who prefer the classic music with chive on vocals and glam on guitar#and new-age fans who like leo on vocals#some are like 'can't believe my favorite band is based in faggotry can nothing be politically free nowadays'#and some are like 'were chive and glam fired because they were gay???' and some are like 'obviously not look at leo' (also not gay)#meanwhile glam is blissfully oblivious for awhile until chive busts into their house like '???? DID YOU KNOW WE WERE FUCKING???'#and glam's like ' . . . excuse me? 😃'#and then when fans become aware of victoria opinion is split between 'glam and chive broke up' and 'victoria is glam's beard'#which like glam didn't really care about any of this until they started implying he was using victoria as a cover for his gayness#which like. gets him REAL pissed#he ends up having an interview with a radio host about it and they ask such fucking infuriating questions he leaves a glitter bomb#idk i just think people assuming two dudes are gay is funny but only if they're unaware of the assumption#and chive and glam have matured as people. they can probably handle the idea of people thinking they fucked with grace#they would NOT handle this well when they were first starting out. probably divorce over it just a little#glam's unconscious bias against being seen as gay stemming from his desire to conform instilled by his father (he is very autistic btw)#chive calls people faggot and says things are gay i know it in my heart#they make this vacuum of assumed homophobia#i also think glam just does not like being touched like at all. it freaks him out#he does it casually unless pointed out and then he just goes STIFF.

my review of Moonwalk: hot mess. ★★★.
#i will refer to it#but oh god... it's just#1st of all. the added afterword from 2009 should have been a FOREWORD bc it gives you the context for how this book was made#so they did have a real writer put it together based on long transcripts of interviews one of the publishing people did with mj#if those tapes exist or pieces of then exist i need to find them. i think i've seen some floating around#bc ... the way it's written sounds very michael. it's not well written. so i'm surprised they even had an actual writer do it#but that makes me think maybe the writer just pulled a lot of exact wording from the tapes?#i hope that's how it happened#like the publishing lady said i Also wish michael had been devoted to this project. this could've been really good#i'm interested in anything that comes straight from michael so ultimately i'm just grateful he did a book at all#and really WAS involved in it#but it just. it's a mess. it's disorganized. it's disjointed#it just does not deliver in so many ways#there were so many times i would read a couple paragraphs and be like. wait What. that went Nowhere#there are really wonderful parts of course too#first of all i'm happy to hear him talk about parts of his life he didn't necessarily talk about that much#i find everything he says about motown and esp the mid-late j5 motown years Supremely interesting#everything written about music and dancing and performing is great. seeing the way he thinks about those things. divine. enlightening.#the thing is. the tone is extremely defensive and passive aggressive throughout the whole book#which is amusing and i mostly like it. michael jackson was one petty and spiteful mf. he loved being right and he reiterates that a lot#but bc of the press treatment of more personal things like his appearance and relationships. those parts are just. eugh#like when it comes to music/dance/performance he can defend himself no problem. concrete evidence that he's fucking awesome and he knew it#he brings up dating and stuff and it feels like he was like. floundering. maybe he just couldn't decide how much to share?#idk it just feels like. he won't outright SAY some things but he'll sort of hint at things. and i can't tell if what he's hinting at#is the real truth or him being defensive and wanting to give the impression that he was 'normal' so people would just leave him alone#i can't tell. i really can't. i wanna just believe him but i'm like. wtf do you mean. and then there'll be inconsistencies#like WHAT R U TRYING TO SAY. you might as well just tell me what you WANT me to think and what you want people to stop bothering you about#ok anyways#it definitely feels like they rushed to get it out asap#i have like 10 questions for every page. i feel like a writer/editor should've been working with him in that way

auggggh figuring out hoe to answer interview questions is the worst part of job hunting i think. literally it's like this is someone that you're trying to make a good impression on but you're literally supposed to just straight up lie to them in order to make yourself sound better and i can understand that it's what they're expecting you to do but it still feels like disingenuous and wrong somehow

In the nine clones au. Perhaps they'd be very effective in taking down the resistance. And the only way to stop them is to point out how much comradery they have for each other and how they can be thier own family.
So for my own personal reference I'm going to link the previous ask I received about cloning Nine here.
Hmmm, you know, anon, I'm sort of interested in what kind of situations you took as a given for this sort of au. This is mostly because even if a bunch of versions of Nine's theoretically could dismantle the resistance, I'd have to wonder why?
I feel there are so many branching au ideas one could come up with just with this singular post.
Like the first that comes to mind (specifically with the angle of them going for the resistance rather than the Chaos Council) is that the clones were created by the council or created by Nine but they were all captured and weaponized by the council. And in this case you'd wonder just what the Council has on them that would keep them doing the Council's dirty work. Did the council capture the clones or create them and then turn them into Cyborg's like Rusty Rose? Did they partner with the Council and decide to take down the resistance because they believed that the council would value them and allow them not to be victimized as Nine had in his past? Did they only stop working with the council because they realized they they could protect themselves and be each other's company/found family together?
The second idea that comes to mind would be again based on the question "why would Nine and the clones turn to taking down the resistance instead of going for the Chaos Council". In this case, if we're assuming that Nine decided to clone himself and he and the clones discovered just how powerful and efficient they are by working together, perhaps Nine is able to place hope again in the idea that the Chaos Council can be overthrown. In this hypothetical situation, I can see Nine and the clones deciding to attack the resistance only to assume control over its resources and manpower. While it would probably be better strategically to create their own resistance and build rapport or try to go for the council on their own, maybe they decide to simply take over the resistance, believing they can lead the people to victory better than Rebel and Renegade? Although in this sort of situation, I think the clones + Nine realizing they can be each other's support and protection would only serve to make them more close knit rather than stop them from doing what they're doing with the resistance.
All in all though, personally if I had to create an au where Nine cloned himself and decided it was worth it to meddle in New Yoke, I'd either go for
An au where Nine and the clones decide to build their own resistance (essentially taking public stands or majorly messing with the Chaos Council's stuff with their tech knowledge), and while they ultimately share the same goal as the current resistance, they naturally end up forming a sort of rivalry. In this one I can see the family outcome coming out in the clones + Nine really only seeing the other as clones or partners but in the most clinical fashion at first, but once they get through some major events and power struggles and working through shared leadership issues, they eventually come to care for and support each other (not just as disposable copies either)
Rather than create their own resistance, they simply take their own measures to slowly take down the council (via a combination of hacking, manipulation, stealing the red shard from them, etc) once they come to believe that such a thing is possible together. But, likewise, even if they do succeed in taking down the council I can see them struggle with their interpersonal relationships and what to do when they actually take down the council.

my official position on the time person of the year of it all is that the profile itself was just not very well-written, and the pictures had no vision behind them, so it all makes taylor come off as... boring and not great. mostly for stuff that isn't even her fault
