I saw the meme and figured this would fit well, since I adore the “Extrovert adopts introvert” dynamic.
Palette was sulking to herself someplace after work and Wally wasn't having any of it.
It didn’t seem right to have Wally alone in the car, so I added an equally cute oc I saw, Millie. [sorry for the sudden drawing-]
Millie belongs to @artsybug0
Diva Wally belongs to @frillsand

can we add on that socially awkward/easily overstimulated people will often seem as if you annoy them when in reality you don't?
what i've learned from my attempts to be more active in discords and other online communities is you just have to show up and participate in conversation and even if youre a little annoying or awkward eventually people will grow a fondness to you out of familiarity alone

In an era where everyone strives to stand out, don’t call those who choose to stay unseen, remain silent, love themselves, and protect themselves from those who enter their lives by mistake “introverted.” Instead of trying to change them, perhaps it’s the extroverts who need to learn to be quiet for a bit.

I am an introvert.
Except when I'm with these specific people.
Or when the kids are engaged in what I'm teaching.
Or when this random person is nerding out about something with me.
Had a fun discussion the other day with my class about how, even if you are a full-on introvert, all humans need to socialize to remain healthy. The look of horror on some of their little faces was rather hilarious.
Like, yes, I get it. It's the ordeal of being perceived.
However, that just means we introverts need to be more purposeful in our socializing. We need to identify who, when, where, and how long we can interact with others without letting it drain us entirely.
All that said, I love "invite me to the function. I'll be tsundere about it" it so perfectly sums it up lol
”Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Do people energize you or drain you? Would you rather be at a party or a library?” Stop subscribing me to binaries. Social interaction is invigorating and makes my life better and I’m exhausted the whole time.

i really hope the people saying tsugeura will be involved w suo’s arc are right especially considering the “fighting as a form of conversation” thing…mr “loud and pushy + a brawler who literally lets people have the first hit before whaling on them” vs mr ““mature” and reserved + controls people’s movements by dodging and redirection” to be so honest we need to just lock the two of them in a room for 24 hrs i think suo would lose his mind

To be frank, I find the introvert/extrovert discourse online insane and completely ridiculous. People will fight to the death about if a character, Elizabeth Bennet, is an introvert or an extrovert, and people: they are opposites. If I/E aren't easy to tell apart for a main character of a novel, the categories are meaningless. But then oddly, considering that no one can tell I/E apart, extroverts are also some weird totally different species from introverts.
But Elizabeth Bennet is an extrovert and checks every single extrovert box and the reasons real internet people keep giving that she isn't are bonkers:
She takes solitary walks. I have some crazy news for you, extroverts can walk. I, a certified extrovert, take solitary walks nearly every day because I have a dog, whom I adopted knowing I would take her on these walks. It's shocking I know; I don't even die of loneliness at all! Consider for a moment that Elizabeth Bennet spends all day surrounded by four sisters and a very talkative mom, not surprising she takes walks alone occasionally. You'll also notice that she does invite her sisters along most of the time.
She reads. More shocking news: extroverts can read. Some of them read a lot. You know enjoying being around other people doesn't exclude reading. In fact, in the Regency you could even read aloud as a group activity! That is something we see in the novel. And Elizabeth also puts down her book when she finds a conversation more interesting.
She processes issues internally. That is not her preference, she likes to talk it out with Jane. When she's leaving Hunsford, Elizabeth is desperate to finally talk with Jane about all the crazy stuff that has happened to her, but she is forced to conceal a good deal of it because it's about Jane. She can't discuss Darcy with the Gardiners because his proposal is a secret, but she is eager to talk about the Lydia thing and learn her uncle's opinion. Also, extroverts are fully capable of processing internally, because again, not a different species.
She has trouble talking/feels awkward after the second proposal. Who wouldn't be awkward? Do people honestly think extroverts never feel awkward??? Not even when they love a guy that they verbally destroyed a few months ago? Not even during a confession of love? We uh... do. We get awkward too. In fact, sometimes when an extrovert talks rapidly, they are trying to talk their way out of an awkward situation. I have to work myself up to making phone calls.
Anyway, it drives me totally up the wall. Elizabeth Bennet is an extrovert, she thrives around people. Both end couples, Jane & Charles and Elizabeth & Darcy, are introvert/extrovert pairings, which is fun. If you want an introverted heroine, Jane Austen wrote five of them and they are all excellent: Elinor Dashwood, Marianne Dashwood, Fanny Price, Jane Bennet, and Anne Elliot. Catherine Morland, Emma Woodhouse, and Lady Susan round out the extroverts. It's awesome that Austen had such range in heroines.

Oh, interesting. I think there's a place for both, but I definitely am NOT one of those people who preferentially chooses long series. Some of my favorite books are duologies or trilogies, but I like as many standalone books as well.
I find long series, generally, to be a burdensome level of commitment AND that the writing tends to dip significantly about two-thirds of the way through, with a gamble on the recovery for conclusion. I would much rather learn about a new cast of characters than slog through poor writing for familiarity's sake.
For much of my life, I would be described as a consummate extrovert, but my threshold for socializing is much lower after COVID.
I wonder if there's an extrovert/introvert division between people who prefer long books and book series, and people who prefer standalone books and short stories. Not as a "hurhur introverts are bookish and extroverts are vapid" sort of way, but on whether your brain classifies fictional characters as "new people".
Like if introverts prefer to stick around to longest possible stories because getting to know people is work and once you care about a character you want ones that stick around, while extroverts don't mind spending 5 minutes hearing the story of a character whom they only meet once and will never hear of again.

there's two kinds of people in this world- people who routinely use headphones while in their own house, and those who use speakers instead & i think that is so much more telling about someone's character than a star chart or the mbti

I would forgive him just to make him stop, please stop torturing me this way, you are forgiven, just stop please.
This is the reason this couple is so interesting to me, they are so colossal opposites, makes me wonder how they will make it work.
Like for Alan these was probably a top apology in his head , for Jeff is like, something of nightmares coming to live.

woke up today like "i am dogshit and should die immediately." then rafi and i went out on a little walk around the neighborhood to watch the sunset even tho it was hot bc i've been inside for weeks due to outdoors being an oven. & within five minutes, rafi was like "you already seem more cheerful" and i was like "well, yeah. i mean, the neighborhood kids are out playing, it's nice to remember life goes on" and rafi was like "yeah, kitkat. you're a fucking extrovert???"
