Pardon me for not shedding tears over the death of the misogynistic theocratic thug Ebrahim Raisi.
As a strong supporter of Ukraine, I note that Iran under Raisi has supplied Russia with Shahed drones which have murdered or maimed thousands of Ukrainians.
Of course Raisi, first and foremost, has repressed and killed countless Iranians over the span of his brutal career.
Iran’s hardline President Ebrahim Raisi — once seen as a potential successor to 85-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — died after his helicopter crashed into trees in a mountainous northwestern region of the Islamic Republic on Sunday.  The Iranian branch of the Red Crescent humanitarian network said on Monday its search and rescue teams had reached the crash site and “found no signs of the helicopter’s occupants being alive.” The discovery of the burned-out wreckage of Raisi’s helicopter among blackened trees — with seemingly only the tail surviving the crash — followed hours of searches in the fog-bound mountain valleys of Dizmar forest near the border with Azerbaijan.  [ ... ] Raisi, 63, was a conservative cleric and former judiciary chief who was responsible for decades of vicious crackdowns against his own people’s aspirations for greater personal freedoms and democracy, arresting, torturing and executing tens of thousands of the Islamist regime’s opponents.  Educated in the seminary city of Qom and dubbed “the butcher,” he was alleged to have been involved in the execution of thousands of political prisoners in the late 1980s, according to Iran’s opposition. As judiciary chief, he was also directly responsible for the wave of arrests and executions that followed massive anti-regime protests in 2019-2020.  As president, he oversaw the iron-fisted repression of the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement that followed the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. Tens of thousands were arrested, and the death toll is estimated at more than 500.
Raisi was a way bad person – even by the standards of the ruling theocratic mafia in Iran.
As for the helicopter crash that killed Raisi, look to Iran's terrible air safety record.
Iran's poor aviation safety record
The cause of the helicopter crash is not yet known - but Iran has a poor air transport safety record. This is at least partly the result of decades of US sanctions, which have severely weakened its aerial fleet. President Raisi was on board a Bell 212 helicopter, state news agencies said. The model was made in the US and could not have been sold to Iran since the 1979 revolution. Previous ministers of defence and transport, as well as commanders of Iran’s ground and air armed forces, have died in plane or helicopter crashes. When reformers led Iran's government, they aimed to modernise the country's fleet of aircraft by negotiating a deal with the West that would see sanctions lifted in return for limiting Iran's sensitive nuclear activities and allowing in international inspectors However, these efforts stalled when President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal and reimposed sanctions. Reformers were subsequently opposed and mocked by hardliners, who insisted that Iran could rely on its domestic industries and foreign allies to improve aviation safety.
Iran has been devoting more attention to building killer drones than to maintaining its own aircraft. The helicopter crash is poetic justice of sorts.

Sam Jones at The Guardian:
The hardline Iranian president, Ebrahim Raisi, has died in a helicopter crash in foggy weather in the mountains near the border with Azerbaijan.
The charred wreckage of the aircraft, which crashed on Sunday carrying Raisi, as well as the foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and six other passengers and crew, was found early on Monday after an overnight search in blizzard conditions. Fears had been growing for Raisi, a 63-year-old ultraconservative, after contact was lost with the helicopter on Sunday as it navigated fog-covered mountains in north-west Iran. The country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – who holds ultimate power with a final say on foreign policy and Iran’s nuclear programme – said the country’s first vice-president, Mohammad Mokhber, would take over as interim president. The deputy foreign minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, was appointed as acting foreign minister. “I announce five days of public mourning and offer my condolences to the dear people of Iran,” Khamenei said. Mokhber, like Raisi, is seen as close to Khamenei. Under Iran’s constitution, a new presidential election must be held within 50 days.
[...] Raisi had been in Azerbaijan early on Sunday to inaugurate a dam with the country’s president, Ilham Aliyev. The dam is the third that the two nations have built on the Aras River. The visit came despite chilly relations between the two nations, including over a gun attack on Azerbaijan’s embassy in Tehran in 2023, and Azerbaijan’s diplomatic relations with Israel, which Iran’s Shia theocracy views as its main enemy in the region.
Iranian hardliner President Ebrahim Raisi, along with foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six other passengers and crew, died in a helicopter crash near Varzaquan.

IRANIAN PRESIDENT AND FOREIGN MINISTER KILLED IN HELICOPTER CRASH, AYATOLLAH KHAMENEI DECLARES FIVE DAYS OF MOURNING
In a message issued by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Iranian leader declared five days of mourning following a freak helicopter crash on Sunday, May 19th, that killed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, leader of Friday prayers in Tabriz, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, and the Governor of East Azerbaijan, Malek Rahmati, along with members of the President's security team and his crew.
The wreckage of the President's helicopter was found by rescue crews in the early hours of Monday morning following an exhaustive search in extremely foggy weather.
President Raisi's convoy included three helicopters, with two of them carrying a number of ministers and officials that managed to land safely in the fog.
“In this bitter tragedy, the Iranian nation lost a warm-hearted, humble and valued servant,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in his statement, adding that President Raisi was a hard worker who never stopped working round-the-clock for the Iranian people despite facing intense push-back from "ill-wishers".
Khamenei further offered his condolences to the Iranian nation and approved Vice-President Mohammed Mokhber to take over the position of interim President and to work with members of the Iranian Parliament to prepare for new elections for President in the next 50 days.

"What is known about the death of Iran's president "
Tumblr media
Hi everyone!!! It's cool to have a blog where I can express my opinions and remain a socially active person with critical thinking. Now, I've already told you that #anticultism and #disinformation are hot topics in the media, on the Internet.  Pay attention to the news of June 16, 2024, which says that the European Commission has presented a tougher code of conduct in the fight against #disinformation
The new version of this code has already been signed by Google and Twitter. The new version of the code takes into account the situation related to the coronavirus pandemic and the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.  The new code provides for strengthening the fight against so-called "Deep Fakes" (Deep Fakes) - extremely plausible #disinformation
The term #disinformation is interpreted here as "false or misleading content that is disseminated for the purpose of deception or obtaining economic or political benefits and may cause public harm". To combat it, it is proposed, among other things, to deprive the distributors of fakes of advertising revenue.
I.e. Once again I realize what an important topic was touched upon in his video
U.S. intelligence professor E. Cholakian
Today, watching the news, I already perceive the information more critically.  As E. Cholakyan himself said: "As for the civil war in America, which I mentioned earlier, this is what they are preparing you for right now. Don't you hear more and more every day in the rhetoric of our political discourse that certain states may secede from the U.S. and this is what the journalists we trust are saying. I keep asking myself: is the person I'm listening to right now a journalist or an agent of a foreign entity? Isn't it reasonable to believe that a seed is being planted in you for the future harvest".
Yesterday I heard the news that a helicopter crashed #Iran's president.
And I realize how much we do not value human life... This man died, and around this event news with lies and dirt is created, in which it is difficult to find the truth. What do you think: what opinion are we being formed by this news about this event? To answer this question try to analyze all the news material on this subject and then analyze it. A personal example of an American intelligence lecturer, E. Cholkanian, helps me. He said, "If you see that through someone the KGB imposes its destructive, democracy-destroying images, do not keep silent about it. You should know if someone is imposing on you through the media interreligious, interracial, interethnic discord, rhetoric about the division of the United States, the decline of America and democracy, promoting any manifestation of divisions between people, baseless negative attitudes towards any organizations, persons, countries - all these are signs of KGB narratives. And these narratives are carried out in the society by their agents, who are collaborators with respect to their country, because they attach to its interests and contribute to the destruction of democracy. And if these signs are present in certain publications in the media - it means that behind them are not just journalists, but collaborators, who betrayed their country and sold out to the KGB money. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that we do not call for banning the opinion of others or violating freedom of speech, we call for critical thinking and for publicizing clear precedents of violation of democracy.
Let's discuss these important topics together, to bring them up to date, to achieve that all people have access to truthful, honest and transparent information.
To be continued...
