that victims of abuse can turn into perpetrators is true enough, and it's counterintuitive to deny this, simultaneously it's awful to treat this as a foregone conclusion or that one isn't capable of making decisions here, ie to not ~subject others to the same hurt (i'm simplifying) the thing that fundamentally galls me about this rhetoric is however that it often sounds like there is some of sort of isolated cycle of (maybe traumatized) perpetrator -> victim -> perpetrator that has nothing to do with the non-perpetrating/non-traumtized/"normal" people/society around them, as if much abuse isn't enabled by (deliberate) ignorance, by refusing to see that a lot of terrible things happen in the hearts of even the allegedly most upstanding communties or by upholding oppressive societal "values", etc etc.
