The way that Williams Racing has nearly completely lost the lovable underdog reputation they have carefully cultivated over the last few seasons in record time needs to be studied.
Mentioned this before but as much as I adore the medic Leo headcanon, my favorite type of it is when it’s basically just Leo knowing the most surface level of stuff and carrying around a super basic first-aid kit in his pack. So he knows how to use gauze, and he’s got a ton of Jupiter Jim branded bandaids, and if you really needed it then he can hit you up with some ibuprofen but other than that? Nothing.
But. I love the idea that that changes post-invasion.
They’re pretty sturdy, all of them, so they can take more than one beating and really only need a bandaid for the fun of it. But the invasion hit harder than ice packs and “lots of rest” would help with, and I can bet that a post being beaten to a pulp Leo would have a lot of time on his hands to reflect and, maybe, learn a thing or two as he waits to get better.
It’s nothing excessive, not at first, but he watches veterinary videos, and live surgeries, and other videos in that same realm (because the books are, uh, a bit too jargon-y for him) multiple times over. Just so he knows. Just in case he needs to know.
In his pack, there’s a first-aid kit. With the use of a mini portal for extra space, the kit has grown to include everything from scalpels to butterfly stitches to sutures to even fiberglass patches.
And obviously the Jupiter Jim brand bandaids stay too.
It pains me when I see artists uploading process videos and they're painstakingly doing flats by hand with the brush tool. So here's my wrist/time saving method!
The number of pixels you want to expand by will vary based on the thickness/texture of your lineart (I usually do 2-4). Unfortunately this trick doesn't work well with very thin lineart.
For Part 2, you can also lock the bottom layer and use the paintbrush tool to add color in the corners if that's a look you prefer.
i am probably going to regret going down this rabbit hole but.... what programs are the go-to for playing around with animation these days? just for fun.
Having thoughts about Orpheus and Eurydice again, about hadestown, about hope, about doubt, about fear, about how the world is cruel, about what it could be in spite of what it is now,
Thinking about how hope can open impossible doors and provide paths to new life, about how doubt and hope can be powerful in the face of oppression but doubt and fear fight it every step of the way, about how hard it is to overcome doubt and fear when you’re just one person,
Thinking about how in Hadestown Orpheus doubts and fears that Eurydice isn’t there, that he’s been tricked, that he’s not enough to convince this god to allow them to leave, about how the only voices it seems he can hear are the fates, how they echo the doubt and the fear he’s feeling in himself,
Thinking about how if all you feel is doubt and fear, if you have lost hope entirely, your fate is doomed,
but if you have hope, if you take the steps necessary, if you follow through, your fate isn’t sealed, it’ll take you through many twists and turns along the way, but if you can hold onto that hope, we might just make it
I hate that I have to say this, but you should care about kids more than you care about winning an argument. You should care about kids more than you care about what you think is owed to you. It doesn’t matter what “side” you’re on, who you believe has a better claim to whatever you’re fighting over. You should care more about kids than about your pride.
Okay, I know Alucard is probably going to train the next gen (and I'm absolutely NOT complaining),
BUT
the part of my brain that is permanently occupied by Orochimaru, Askeladd, Maedhros + Maglor, and many others, desperately wants Olrox to train up Richter.
There's just something about training the child whose family you killed or otherwise harmed. About imparting to them the knowledge and the skills that were responsible for their family's deaths and/or suffering. About you being the one to teach them how to survive the world how to survive you.
It's one of the best tropes in fiction and I will salivate over it every. single. time.
Guys I'm ready to live on a commune and make money by writing lesbian erotica. Who's moving with me and what are you bringing to the table (financially or otherwise).
I love how they represent tdp's recurring threes, keys, and children's games motifs in "Bait and Switch."
The alliteration and the meter of "Squid, sails, and a hammerhead's tail" evoke a children's nursery rhyme. Ezran recites this rhyme to solve the "riddle" of the locked door to Finnegrin's office, while playing a trick on Finnegrin and stealing his secret treasure from him.
Interview went well yesterday, have another one today. Really hoping I can move forward with one of these, they're both doggy daycare jobs and I really miss working with animals. I'm honestly more excited about the one I had yesterday even though it's a bit of a commute, their facility sounds FANTASTIC and I'd get doggy first aid training in the first month <3
I saved a work project in jpg to show the client. It's in CMYK, I don't want to bother convenrting it in RGB back again (thank you CSP for not working in print quality) just for that.
On Photoshop the colours are nice, I check the flat image on my pc before sending, everything looks all right.
How to be less online? I hate the person I feel myself becoming when I stay too long on social media. Serious and earnest enquire because it’s been hard for me to quit.
I've said this before but Nathan Fielder had the right idea with the hot dog costume motivational gambit. Make some long-term volunteer commitments that you can't reneg on without looking and feeling like a complete asshole—you'll work alongside people in your community who share a common goal, which generally requires prioritizing conflict resolution over parasocial and interpersonal cat burning. Moreover, this will fulfill the two most neglected quotas of them all: low-stakes human interaction and doing something offline that—in some way—alleviates the suffering of other human beings. It might take a little time to set up, but once you commit to the bit, you'll find yourself logging on, scrolling down, saying “wow, I literally don't respect any of you”, and logging off.
