Ever wanted to use Discord on a J2ME feature phone? Thanks to gtrxAC, that's now possible!
I personally have wanted to see something like this for years - glad the same someone who ported a Game Boy emulator to MTK MRE took on the challenge!

A bit of ✨aesthetic✨ mobile phone retro-gaming
I keep this phone alive just to play some Java games from time to time. You still can get them across the internet. For this you should know resolution of your screen and the size of applications supported by your device. This *baby* Sims is less than 2KB.
Unfortunately, 2KB is maximum size for this LaFleur so I can't afford *Sims 3* for it. Although there are some programs that can help you bypass this limit.

Autumn Nights
Summary: Cosy diner, torrential rain and a loving boyfriend who's always there to take care of you.
Autumn was alsways your favourite season, wathcing as the leaves changed from the crisp green to a beautiful autumn glow. Sitting by the window in the smal but cosy run down diner, warm tea acompanying the book in hand. It felt surreal, as if the world around you was non existant just focusing your attention to the words on each page, picturing it unfold in your mind. The feeling of almost being teleported through time and space to a far off venture, where cottages and villages were all the age, no ipods, or mobile devices, log fires to cook your freshly caught dinner. Imagining a simpler time where noone ordered in for dinner or shoved a frozen pizza found in the back of the freezer that had long been forgoton about in the oven, where everything had its place, all homemade, no next day deliveries of the mass produced crap that noone needed and bought anyway.
A time where you didn't have to live for work, compleating endless tasks to the deadline, working the overtime to cover a shift, life was just simpler then. Line by line, paragraph by paragraph, page by page you read, not once looking up to your surroundings, not watching the people leave from behind you, completely forgetting the concept of time, you read. Your tea once fresh now an empty cold cup on the mat infront of you, not noticing when it had been taken away.
Daydreaming of the endless possibilities that unfolded through each turn, not noticing the diner was completely empty, the capachino machiene turned off for cleaning or the lights above the other tables turned off.
"Forgive me" a soft spoken gently older lady said stood beside you. Looking up in almost a trance
"It's seven fifteen we close at seven, I didn't want to disturb you, you seamed so happy, but you really need to go now"
Apologizing you quickly gathered your belongings, fumbling with your book, keys, phone and handbag you ran out the door, you'd forgotten all about the time and didn't once check your phone, three messages and a missed call, cursing yourself for having the device on silent,
6.10 "I'm just about to finish work, see you soon I love you"
6.30 "Just finished, I miss you be home soon"
6.45 missed call
7 "Y/n are you okay? Call me I love you"
You knew your boyfriend was suppost to be finishing work around ten, giving you plenty of time to be home with your dinner ready, he wasn't bothered if dinner was ready and certanly never got mad if it wasn't, but it was just your way of taking care of your love after a long, difficult, stressful day at work. Calling him as you waited for the bus he answered almost instantly
"I'm so sorry, I didn't see my phone I got caught up reading at the diner and-" rambling on, Tom cut you off mid sentence
"Darling it's alright, don't worry, you need not explain yourself especially to me. I was just concerned as i hand't heard from you, please do not rush home, enjoy your reading, I'm glad your having a nice time." Tom was always to kind to you, taking care and supporting you.
"I am just coming, I'm just waiting on the bus and I'll be home shortly"
"You didn't leave on my account did you?" Tom asked
"No, no, no I had to I lost track of time and thre diner closed I had to leave and I was late, the lady asked me to go, I'm sorry."
"Darling I'll come pick you up it's pouring with rain and getting dark where are you?" Trying to protest about getting picked up you didn't want him comming in the rain to get you, explainig the bus is only fifteen minutes away from where you are.
"Darling I'm coming this isn't up for discussion, you must be frozen standing there, fifteen minuites is a while away from you, if it even comes on time, plus the drive home, please Y/n where are you?"
"Thank you, I really am sorry, I'm on the corner of sixth street by Java Journey cafe and bookstore"
He insisted you stay on the phone to him as he drove, the rain getting heavier, your hair clung to your face, standing shivering waiting for your boyfriend to come save you. not long after you clocked the grey BMW driving towards you, slowing down and pulling in for you.
His hair and coat soaked from running to the car, his jeans a slightly darker blue "I'm sorry, thank you for picking me up, I'm sorry your soaked Tom you should have stayed dry and warm at home"
"I'm alright, it is you who apprears to be soaked right through." resting his hand on yours holding onto the gear stick "Darling you are frozen, I'll draw you a bath as soon as were home, your going to get sick. Try take your coat off and your jumper if it's wet." Sitting in your t-shirt, knuckles a faint tinge of blue, rolling into the car park was a sight most welcomed, you just wanted to be warm and dry, safe in your home. Opening your door
"Wait, close the door please stay here for a moment" Tom asked before leaving the car first, he opened the boot and took something, opening your door, handing you a dry jumper, "put this on" he took of his coat and tried to sheild you with it from the rain as you got out the car wearing your favourite jumper, well... his jumper. Thanking him you ran the flight of stairs to your front door and down the path together.
Opening the front door he let you in first, immediately feeling the rush of heat and a delightful smell like no other.
Tom helped you hang your handbang, and coat, placing your trainers under the heater, he stood there smiling at you as you carried your book to the coffee table with your phone, noticing each drip of water run from your hair to the floor, holding the blanket from the back of the sofa wrapping it around you, his arms holding you close to him. "Leave that for now, come, we need to warm you."
"This is nice, right here, right now, this works"
"Get your wet little butt upstairs I'll be up shortly." kissing your forhead you went up, taking off yor trousers that had nearly stuck to you.
Moments later you could hear little feet running around, up and down the stairs, back and forth to what sounded like the kitchen, "Y/n may I come in?" he asked gently knocking on the bedroom door,
"Come with me" the same blanket covering you, walking into the bathroom to find a bubble bath with candles, tea, your body scrub and moisturizer, some hair and face masks laid out on the toilet lid, of course your book on the bath board "Tom this is amazing, thank you, I don't deserve this, you didn't have to do this for me."
"You deserve the world my love, there's dinner ready for you down in the kitchen I made some potato and leek soup. Once your ready for it give me a shout and I'll bring it to you.Relax and take some time for yourself let me take care of you. Now climb in the bath your freezing." Kissing him and thanking him again Tom closed the door behind him.
It must have been well over an hour topping up the warm water, relaxing with your book, your body clean and finally warm, knuckles a soft shade of pink a much better upgrade from before. Tom had left you to relax for as long as you wanted, he too sat reading one of his many books from his collction. You could feel the happiness almost erupting from within you, thinking of how Tom doted on you, he really adores you, how good to you he is and how lovely a couple you make. Setting your book on the bathroom floor, layinng your back against the edge of the tub enjoying the feeling of the warm water gently washing over you, your eyes growing more tired, becoming harder to keep them open, just one second wouldn't hurt if you closed them, just to rest for a short moment. Nearing on two hours of being in the bath Tom came up to check on you, gently knocking and softly calling your name before entering, looking around the room, your tea empty, book on the floor body scrub not where he had left it before noticing you laying in the bath a gentle smile on your lips, head against the small pink bath pillow listening to the delicate sounds of your breathing. Placing his arms under your legs and your back lifting you out the water, the cold air made you shiver a little in his arms "Tom" you mumbled half asleep
"Shh I've got you, it's alright, I've got you." whispering gently kissing your forhead. Carrying you through to the bedroom
placing you on the bed, drying you off a little with a fresh towel, exhaustion was taking over you completely you barely flinched as he helped you put on one of his shirts, draping the duvet and cosy blanket over you, kissing your forhead, "Goodnight my love, sleep well"
"Tom, sleep with me?" barely whispering back
"Of course" climbing into bed beside you once again taking you in his arms whispering "I've got you" as he felt you shifting toward his chest getting comfy. "Sweet dreams"

Hey, you!
Is your computer and/or mobile phone dry?
Would you like it not to be?
then BOY DO I HAVE JUST THE THING FOR YOU!!
So I made a Rainmaker shimeji! Download and installation instructions under the cut!
HOW TO INSTALL
Windows:
You will need:
A Windows computer
A .zip and .rar software. like winrar or 7zip or whatever, doesn't matter.
The latest version of Java 8
Basic knowledge of how to unzip and move files on your computer
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER SHIMEJIS:
Download the .zip file
Unzip it wherever you like
Open the folder and make a shortcut to "shimeji-ee.jar"
Move this shortcut to your desktop
Double click the shortcut
There she is!
If shimeji-ee.jar doesn't want to open and instead prompts you to use winrar, right click it and change the application you prefer to open it with to Java
IF YOU HAVE OTHER SHIMEJIS ON YOUR COMPUTER:
This Shimeji was made for Shimeji-ee. I cannot guarantee it will work with other software.
Make a new subfolder in the /img/ folder of your shimeji software. Title it "rainmaker". Or anything else, I'm not your dad.
Download the .zip file
Extract it wherever you want
Copy all the images from my .zip file's /img folder into the shimejiee/img/rainmaker subfolder
Copy the "conf" folder from my zip file into the shimejiee/img/rainmaker subfolder
Open shimeji-ee.jar
Right click on the app icon, and go to settings -> Choose Shimeji
Select Rainmaker
Done!
Android:
You will need:
A shimeji app that supports custom shimeji. I prefer this one:
A file explorer for your phone, if it did not come preloaded with one.
Download my zip file
Unzip it somewhere you'll be able to find it
In the app, create a new shimeji. Direct the file to the /img/ folder of your extracted zip file
Mess around with the animations a bit if you'd like -- this app can mess up the frame order for some animations but it's fixed pretty easily.
Spawn her in.
You're done! Have fun throwing her away from your keyboard every 2 seconds while you text.

So those "why doesn't AO3 have an app" posts are going around again, and I'm not even mad. I'm confused. What, pray tell, would you expect an AO3 app to do for you?
Log in? Website can do that already.
Read fics? Same.
Read fics with a more mobile-friendly layout? Last time I checked AO3 had one of the better mobile layouts I've seen around. An app is not going to offer a significally different layout.
You most likely want an app because everything on the internet has trained you to think that an app is superior, when, in reality, it just eats memory on your phone. Website: The App is more often than not a glorified piece of Java that (sometimes badly) re-implements the functionality of the website.
If you want a home screen icon, just go to AO3 in your browser, open the menu (the dots in the top-right corner) and use the "add to home screen" option. And maybe yell at AO3 to turn their website into a PWA if you want to feel like you have an app.

Minecraft (2009)
Date: May 17, 2009 Platform: Mac / Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 Games Store / PlayStation Network (PS3) / PC / iPhone / iPad / Android / Windows Phone / PlayStation Vita / Wii U / Browser / PlayStation Network (Vita) / Xbox One / PlayStation 4 / Linux / Amazon Fire TV / New Nintendo 3DS / Nintendo Switch / Xbox Series X|S Developer: Mojang AB / 4J Studios / Other Ocean Interactive / Digital Eclipse Software, Inc. Publisher: Mojang AB / Xbox Game Studios / Sony Interactive Entertainment America / Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Genre: Action-Adventure Theme: Fantasy Franchises: Minecraft Also known as: Minecraft Xbox One Edition / Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition / Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition Type: Crossover
Summary:
Minecraft is an open world, first-person, survival sandbox game, developed and published by Mojang. It was originally released in a pre-alpha state via the TIGSource forums on May 17, 2009, and was later hosted online for supported browsers before receiving a standalone release for PC, Mac, and Linux on June 30, 2010. The game would officially exit its Beta version on November 18, 2011, although major updates continue to be released. Since August 2011, a number of ports of the game have released for consoles and mobile devices.
Presented with a unique low-resolution "voxel" aesthetic (where everything is shaped using cubes), the game allows players to interact with a variety of different "blocks" in a procedurally-generated world. Along with both resource mining/gathering and item crafting (hence the game name), the game features exploration (with multiple biomes and locations), combat, and construction. In addition to the standard "Survival" mode, the game features a "Creative" mode that allows players to design environments with an unlimited amount of blocks at their disposal and no survival elements. The game supports online multiplayer and later supported numerous content packs (including new world/block textures and player skins, many of which are cross-promotions with other games and franchises).
Originally created by indie developer Markus "Notch" Persson (whose roles were later taken over by fellow indie developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten), Minecraft was ported to numerous smartphones (originally known as Minecraft: Pocket Edition) and consoles (originally known as Minecraft: Console Edition, with the "Console" in the name being replaced by the console's name). On September 20, 2017, the game received a major "Better Together" update that merges the smartphone version with some console versions (including Windows 10, Xbox One, and later Nintendo Switch) together for a single multi-platform version (known as Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, with the original computer versions renamed to Minecraft: Java Edition) with all features accessible (including cross-platform multiplayer). Alternate editions include a multi-platform version for use in classroom settings (Minecraft: Education Edition), a cut-down version for small RaspberryPi microcomputers (Minecraft: Pi Edition), and a multi-platform version for use in China (Minecraft China).
The game has received a number of spin-offs, including the 2015 adventure game Minecraft: Story Mode (and its 2017 sequel), the 2020 dungeon crawler Minecraft: Dungeons, and the augmented-reality mobile game Minecraft Earth. As well, Minecraft's procedurally-generated sandbox elements would inspire many other games, in both 2D (such as Terraria and Starbound) and 3D (such as Dragon Quest Builders and LEGO Worlds).

I think the sprite artwork in the Java phone version of Sonic Unleashed is very nice, and it's such a shame that these sprites aren't being used in fangames.
Of course I think the Sonic Advance/Battle sprites are the best Sonic has ever looked in 2D, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Mobile Unleashed sprites sometimes.

Sega Dreamcast - Radirgy
Title: Radirgy / ラジルギ
Developer/Publisher: MILESTONE Inc.
Release date: 16 February 2006
Catalogue No.: T-47802M
Genre: Shooting
Oh my... another Dreamcast shooter and this is not the final game either!! Radirgy released on the 16th of February 2006 is the second game by Milestone to grace the Dreamcast. [The first one being Chaos Field.] Radirgy is the first ever cel-shaded shooter which gives it a very unique look that doesn't seem to appeal to the masses judging from the comments such as "This looks like a Java game" or "I'm not buying this because it looks crap". Well, a big smiley grinning face to them because they're missing out on some great shooting action!
Radirgy only has 5 levels but what makes this a winner is the scoring system! At the top of the screen is a mobile phone reception gauge. At first, it's set to "out of rage" but soon begins to fill up. The more the gauge fills up, the more bonus points you get for destroying enemies. You must be quick though because the reception gauge soon fades away meaning you'll have to power it up again. This whole gauge thing is just one of the features of Radirgy that makes it so appealing.
Don't judge this game on its graphics (which are very nice by the way) and actually try to play it. I'm sure you'll agree that Radirgy is a fun, hectic, challenging shooter. It was also released on the Game Cube and PlayStation 2.
This version I have is the Sega Direct release that came with a free Radirgy phone card.

May Updates – Android Ports & Editing
May was a very hectic month for me personally, so there wasn't much progress made this month - but that doesn't mean there wasn't any!

Asphodelium
In May I was asked a simple question - will there be an Android port for Asphodelium? I almost immediately responded "no, it would need too much reworking", but then I got curious.
I assumed the small size of the text (as the story is completely NVL) would make it too hard to read on mobile, but I went ahead and (after a few Java downloads and updates) made a build for it and tested it out. It's actually quite readable and only needed a few tweaks. So, off and on for a few days I tinkered with a build of it, testing it out on my phone. And I was able to release it!

You can now play this Android build for free on itchio.
To go with it, I also released the stickers & print set I've been working on of Hazel & Aster on the store! Rather than have them be separate, I included them all under 1 pack for $10. You can find them on our merch store~

Canvas Menagerie
I wrote about 4k words for Canvas Menagerie. I also did a fair amount of editing for Act 2 of Canvas Menagerie, proofreading what's there and trying to make sure it all fits together.

There's one somewhat frustrating character in particular that is fully introduced in Act 2 who's named Rose - I won't go into who he is for spoiler reasons, but I will talk a bit about him as a person. Rose is a very secretive person with low self-esteem and not a solid self-image of himself. He's quiet and can come across as rude because of how little he responds to others, preferring to keep to himself.
Rose's sprite, which I was able to work on more this month!
Rose is very important to the later half of the story and a fair amount of it is centered on Niko trying to break Rose out of his shell as they're now coworkers. However, it can be hard for 2 reasons:
Rose isn't a love interest
Rose doesn't respond honestly (and hardly at all) to others
Rose isn't a love interest - Ren is. This is a romance game about Niko and Ren's growing relationship rather than a simulator game where there's multiple love interests. It's surprisingly hard to balance having scenes between two characters that could theoretically date but aren't going to. The overall focus is on Niko and Ren, but Niko and Rose's relationship is also important to the later half of the game - it's just not romantic.
Rose doesn't respond honestly - Rose is a very timid person, mainly because he doesn't have much confidence in himself. Rose is similar to how Niko is at the start of the game, but the interesting thing about their relationship is that by the time they meet, Niko is a different person. He's not overly confident, but the Niko that Rose meets has become more confident in himself and more comfortable with others than the Niko we first met at the beginning of the game - it's only because of meeting Ren that Niko changes. So, in a way, it becomes Niko's job to do the same for someone else.
I swab some lavender paint, hesitating to lay it down on the canvas. Just as I reach over to my phone, there's the sound of one of the doors opening. —And then, the door to my painting nook. Rose "Ah—" Niko "Oh." As probably the last person I thought I'd see, Rose steps in the warehouse room. Just as quickly as he stepped in, he looks like he's about to run off again. Niko "What are you doing here?" Rose "I—" Rose "I got turned around..." How do you get so lost to end up here?! Niko "What were you looking for?" Rose "...The script reading rooms." Wow. I know this studio can be confusing to navigate, but that's a whole new level. Niko "That's....kinda far away...." Niko "W-Wait, I didn't mean to laugh!" Rose tries to hide his face and shut the door, but I quickly reopen it. I'm not good enough at giving directions so he'll definitely be lost if I don't help him. Niko "Do you have to be there immediately?" Rose "...No?" Niko "Well, if you'll give me a minute to clean up then I can walk you down there." Rose "..." Rose "...Sure." He says everything with a careful pause. Canvas Menagerie - Act 2
I call Rose "frustrating" because, while I do like him, I sometimes feel like I'm Niko while writing his scenes - it feels like I'm trying to pull any kind of information out of him with little to no avail, just like Niko. I hope by the end though we're able to see Rose's true colors!
Last but not least, May 31st is a special day - it's Niko's birthday!

But I'm writing this in June a few days late because I was at OffKai Expo so....
HAPPY PRIDE! 💜

11/100 days of code.
1.19.24
today im starting on my java learning journey, with the book Introduction to Java: Programming and Data Structures 12th Edition by Y. Daniel Liang. before jumping in, i cant help but be very excited to learn java for the explicit purpose of coding minecraft mods, as that sounds like a super fun project and usage of this language for me :P ultimately game dev is why im learning c++, so having a game dev equivalent usage for java will help me retain it in the long term, as i already have interest in that application. i intend on eventually learning pygame to retain and stretch my python knowledge for the same purpose, though i dont have something specific like minecraft modding to work towards, so we'll see.
in the introductory section, im also learning that android phones are developed in Java, making it promising to be able to make android compatible (which is the phone i use) mobile software without much hassle, which is super cool. i also learned that java, like c++, is a compiled language, uses classes (namespaces in c++), has the same commenting system, same use of ; to end statements, and more. while there are a vast amount of differences, finding these similarities is both cool and helpful for retention!
public class Welcome {
......public static void main(String[] args) {
..........System.out.println("Welcome to Java!");
.....}
}
