What if I love you too much? ¹ [drabbles] by taleasnewastime s wc~20.6k / single mom!reader, neighbors au Summary: Jungkook. It’s only a name you learn after your son kicks his ball over the fence. Before that you only knew him as the hot new neighbour who mows his lawn topless. And though you have no intention of getting to know him anymore than that, inevitably you do. You don’t necessarily fall, it’s too slow for that, but you definitely develop feelings you don’t intend to feel. Because you know men like him, and you know that whatever you’re feeling, he’s probably not feeling the same. All the same, however hard you try, you can’t help yourself.

Getting to know Jungwon hasn’t been as difficult as Jungkook dreaded it to be. The first few dates were tricky because he had to re-establish himself as the man who fixed the little one’s airplane, until it got old and Jungkook had to figure out different openings.
But he also wanted to be remembered as more than the man giving Jungwon chocolate milk or sweet snacks, and definitely more than the Cookie Monster. Since that impromptu stay-in at your place that one Saturday, he feels there's been progress towards the goal of Jungwon wanting Jungkook to be his father.
That’s what you both decided, anyway, that you were going to wait for the little one to be comfortable enough to want that, and not be something that you, as his parents, would impose.
There’s a reason why you never introduced any other man to Jungwon, why you always reinforced Taehyung and Namjoon as his uncles, why you made sure your son never saw any man be affectionate to you, as he may take this differently, given his kindergarten mates often talked about seeing their parents hold hands and kiss.
You told Jungkook all this and he’d been thankful for you paving the way for Jungwon to feel the difference of how Jungkook is with him. This has also been the reason why aside from dinners on some weeknights, the weekend playdates have also gone on for longer.
It’s only just been several weeks but there was that time at the park with the cool playground near Jungkook’s apartment. Jungwon had initially been careful and shy with the other kids around but Jungkook was helping him in every step, every slide, every seesaw, and every swing.
There was another time when you all went to one of the Han River parks. Taehyung had joined with a picnic basket full of fruits and sweets and Jungkook and Jungwon devoured the mini cakes and cookies. That day, Jungkook brought a baseball and taught Jungwon how to play catch. The moment was quite emotional for him, as he remembered the first time his own father introduced the game to him just like that.
The little one’s hand-eye coordination needed some work, so they took to piggyback rides and superman lifts after some time. Those were requests from Jungwon, as anything remotely physical was something you and Jungkoik wanted your son to initiate as well. He was the first one to ask to be carried, to be tossed, and had been the one to hug Jungkook goodbye that one time.
What has been difficult for him was getting to know you all over again. After the anger turned into appreciation for everything you’ve done, for how much you sacrificed and did everything right when it came to raising your child, it had been natural for Jungkook to pick up on all the things different and the same about you.
You’re still the same smart, go-getter individual who takes command and knows how to get people to agree with her, like that time during your Saturday conference calls when you directed both meetings and had the whole team go with your ideas. He didn’t miss the little smirk you made after the final agreements.
You still have that tough demeanor, standing your ground like those times he’d heard you negotiate with merchants over the phone, or when you’d side-eyed strangers who snickered when Jungwon was having a mini-tantrum in a public place because he does still have his moments.
You’re still patient and understanding when it comes to Jungkook’s career, how you never minded when he would be approached by people asking for a photo, or how you always understood when he had to move dinner to another day at the last minute.
You still prefer not to ask for help, like that one Sunday he was over and you spent it doing chores and you rejected his every offer to help, joking that you really don’t wanna fight him in front of your son. How you now minded him helping you wasn’t lost on him, though.
You were so tired that day that you fell asleep right as you sat on the couch, hugging Ms. Monkeypants and playing with her ear. Jungkook softened at this because your knack for playing with ears - whether a person’s or a stuffed toy’s - is still very much a part of you.
He’s noticed differences, too, like how you’ve been more open with your emotions. He thinks it’s something you had to learn to model to Jungwon - naming what you feel because it helps with his emotional vocabulary - and it’s a welcome change.
He saw you get teary-eyed watching Toy Story 3, too, then hugging Jungwon who was trying to hug all his toys and telling them he loves them.
Jungkook rarely saw you cry when you were together; it wasn’t something you normally did. You always said it wasn’t out of thinking it was a weakness but you just didn’t like others seeing that vulnerable side of you, and it made you feel like you didn’t have control.
He smiles thinking that perhaps Jungwon has taught you how to be willing and more comfortable with expressing your feelings, even if it’s because of an animated movie about toys.
It doesn’t help, too, that you look just as gorgeous as before, whether you’re wearing your work clothes or your casual clothes, whether you’re trying to discipline Jungwon when he won’t listen to you and you have this serious face on, or when you look so tender and enchanted while you’re watching the little one be himself.
This has been so difficult because Jungkook has spent the past 5 years trying to forget about you, trying to forget how you sound, how you look, how you feel. And now, it’s as if he never got to do that at all.
While physical touches have been limited to fingers brushing or elbows touching, just seeing you is enough to remind him how it was like to hold you. Many times he’d been tempted to straighten your eyebrows when they were scrunched out of frustration, or engulf your hands in his when they were shaking out of stress, or pinch your cheeks just to get a reaction out of you because you never enjoyed it before.
But more than those, he’d wanted to hug you, as if to thank you for everything you’ve done, and then hug you some more as if to make up for the times you felt exhausted, scared, worried, and alone. He’d wanted to hold you so tightly as if to tell you that you won’t be going through all this by yourself anymore because he’s around now.
And there had been moments when he just wanted to pull you close and kiss you, because no matter how hard he tried to forget you, to erase the memories of you from his mind, it had been impossible, even if you were the one who wanted to end it, and even if he agreed and told you not to reach out to him out of bitterness.
You don’t get to repair a broken heart just like that, you don’t get over a love just like that.
When you walked out of his life, the anger was fleeting, leaving him with this suffocating hollowness inside of him that was more than sadness but not emptiness; it was that feeling that his whole being, his whole self knew that something was missing.
He’d gone on to do everything he set out to do, offered every single game to his father, relished every moment of the dream he’s known since he was a child.
Losing his father left this permanent scar, like a reminder of what was lost, a pain he only remembers feeling, but losing you felt like an open wound, like it could hurt and burn when touched, left open and vulnerable to further pain, like it just refused to heal and close up.
He at least wanted to just remember the pain, not have to feel it every single day. He’d been very good at hiding it, masking it with other things, like spending every waking hour he could at training or the gym, doing the bare minimum of socializing, dating a celebrity who felt just as heartbroken and lonely like he did.
Coming home and finding out the truth made him feel anger again, but it multiplied the pain he continued to feel. Regret came not long after, realizing that maybe he hadn’t done enough to make you trust him, to make you trust his love for you.
Getting to know Jungwon has done so much, not just for the relationship he’s desperate to build with his son, but also for forgiving you. But while you’ve proven that you want nothing more than for that father-son relationship to develop and solidify, making sure that Jungwon doesn’t get to have any other father except for Jungkook, he also knows it’s not that simple.
You two never really talked about the break up, come to think of it; everything had been about your son. Jungkook doesn’t know if you really meant everything you said that night, that you’ve been tired being with him, and if you truly thought that you’re not what he needed.
You’ve also said that you’ve never let any man close enough because you were waiting for him to take his rightful place as Jungwon’s father; that had been enough to not let anybody in. But now he’s here, and he feels he’s getting closer to the goal, and that may leave you open and willing and ready for another kind of love, the one you’ll trust, the one you’ll cherish.
These thoughts remain in Jungkook’s mind and he’s afraid to be vulnerable. He’s scared to be close again, to let you in, because if that’s not something you want, not only will he not know how to recover this time, but he also can’t risk Jungwon being caught in the crossfire. He can’t let Jungwon see his father broken.
**
It’s 6PM on a Friday and Jungkook is hitting balls in their training facility’s indoor batting cage, with Jin in the next lane who’s been enjoying the perks of being cousins with the Bears’ star hitter. He’s hitting too, not for practice but to let out frustrations, given how enamored he is with his rival resto-bar’s owner who’s just as persuasive and charming as he is.
The cousins are bickering, with Jungkook stating that Jin’s just afraid to be dominated by someone because he knows he’s a terrible sub - earning him ball hits from Jin that don’t land - and with the older man countering that Jungkook’s just afraid to admit that he likes you, a complete 180 from how it was in college.
“Why are you so convinced that I like her? May I remind you that she broke my heart. I’ve moved on, okay?” Jungkook defends, worried not to give anything away. It’s not something he’s verbalized, afraid of it snowballing then not being ready for the consequences.
“Why are you so convinced that I wouldn’t notice?” Jin deadpans, confused as to why Jungkook feels the need to deny it. “I’m the last person to fall for your bullshit, Kook. And you’re probably the most expressive person I know. Your eyes are so big, I can see them shift from Jungwon to ___ from a mile away, and lingering. And don’t think I don’t miss how you force yourself to not bite your lips to stop yourself from smiling when she’s around.”
Jungkook rolls his eyes but curses himself for still being so transparent. That’s what he was with you back in college; it was easy for the guys to know when he’d fallen for you because of the change in demeanor, how during his most serious moments during training and games, seeing you in the stands suddenly turned him into a lovesick puppy who just couldn’t stop beaming.
“Shut up, I need to focus,” he deflects, earning him a laugh from the older man.
Jungkook continues his bats, shouts of approval from the coaching staff and team members present echoing in the facility.
His phone rings and he immediately drops everything and runs to it, the specific ringtone indicating that it’s you on the other line, something he decided just in case there’s an emergency so he knows not to ignore it.
“___, everything okay?”
At this, Jin laughs and rolls his eyes. Emergency or not, it doesn’t explain the smile that’s currently on Jungkook’s face after you say that things are fine.
“Are you busy? I’m sorry for calling, I didn’t know who else to ask. I know you mentioned training tonight,” you say on the other line.
Jungkook moves out of the netted area and sits farther away from the noise coming from the others batting.
“No, it’s okay. I have time. What do you need?”
“I’m caught in a meeting so I can’t pick up Jungwon from daycare yet. He gets restless when he remains in the same place for a long period of time and, well, Namjoon is in a conference and Tae is out of town. I was hoping maybe you could pick him up? If you’re not busy, or like, caught in the middle of something. If you are, I can—”
“Hey, ___, relax. Of course I can,” he states. “I’m done anyway. I can head out there now. Will they let me take him?”
“Yeah! I’ll call his teacher and vouch for you. Just give your ID and then they’ll just video call me to confirm that I’m approving you to pick Jungwon up,” you respond, the worry of disturbing Jungkook slowly disappearing at his gentle tone.
“Sure, just send me the address. And your office’s too, so I’ll know where to drop him off.”
“Yes, yes. I will,” you respond.
Your boss calls you from the room since break is over. “Just text me if something comes up. Thank you so much, Jungkook. I’ll see you, bye!”
Jungkook drops the call and rushes to get his things, leaving a howling Jin who screams that Jungkook is in love.
**
Jungkook, in fact, did not need to give his ID. Turns out, the teachers are baseball fans (or have probably been watching the news) and had dropped whatever they were holding at the sight of him entering their humble daycare, asking for Jungwon.
He doesn’t miss how one whispers over the phone that “you didn’t tell me it’s the Jeon Jungkook, ___. I could’ve fixed my hair!” To which you laugh and hurriedly give your approval before you go back to your meeting.
Jungwon, who looked bored inside the playroom, excitedly runs to Jungkook, shouting that “Cookie is picking me up!” That’s enough for the teachers to squeal in adoration because hunky baseball star Jeon Jungkook, going all soft at the hug of a tiny Jungwon, is definitely a sight to behold. Even more when he carries Jungwon and asks him about his day and what he learned at school earlier.
He hears the teacher call out that she wishes to see him again, and Jungkook actually hopes that she does. Having Jungwon be excited to see him definitely makes up for the past 3 days of torture at training. With the start of the season happening in May - a few weeks from now - it’s been crazy for Jungkook, knowing as well that even with his MLB stint, no one is afforded a pass in the Korean Baseball Organization League. The KBO is filled with just as many talented players and he knows that he needs to earn their respect just the same.
It’s been so tiring, as he keeps up with his early morning workout, then full-day training and conditioning. He’s lucky that the Bears at least respect its players’ time, and that he was able to leave the batting cage early to pick up his kid.
That smile, that tight hug, that story about the caterpillar he saw in the playground are all enough for Jungkook to feel rejuvenated, like all his muscle strain has healed and all the jitters leading up to opening weekend are slowly dissipating.
He definitely wants to keep doing this. And in a corner of his mind, he wishes he could go home to this, to Jungwon’s excitement and affection everyday, with you there with them.
**
Your office is situated in a three story building in a quiet, artsy district. From his parked car across the street, Jungkook could see the bright lights from the wall-size windows, with many people still walking around inside. He’s not sure if it’s okay for him to go inside so he asks Jungwon, knowing as well that the little one has been antsy the whole ride.
“Uncle Tete takes me inside,” Jungwon replies, which is enough of a confirmation for Jungkook.
He takes his son from the car seat, the one he decided to get in anticipation for moments like this. The pair cross the street and enter the front door, earning gasps from the people staying in the common workspace, which is connected to the reception area.
Jungkook looks around, unsure whom to ask where you are or at least where to stay while they wait. There doesn’t seem to be anyone in the reception desk so Jungkook stays still, feeling slightly uncomfortable at the deafening silence.
A woman exits a room and squeals, calling out to the little one.
“Hi, Jungwon!” She says, walking towards them. “Waiting for your mother?” Jungwon waves and responds with a nod.
Jungkook turns around and sees the woman go from smiling to nodding, whispering that “she didn’t tell me she meant the Jeon Jungkook,” proceeding to laugh. She turns to everyone else with their slacked jaws, telling them to get it together, “as if you’ve never seen a celebrity before.”
“Please don’t mind them,” she tells Jungkook. “Although I’m not sure if they’re stunned because they know who you are or because you’re just really handsome. I’m Sarang, by the way,” she says, hand out for Jungkook to shake, which he does.
“The team’s just running over final things but ___ should be done soon. You can sit on the couch over there,” she says, pointing to the corner of the room.
She follows the pair and pulls out a box from underneath the coffee table, which is filled with blocks. “We get visits from kids pretty often and Jungwon likes these,” she says, earning her a nod and thanks from Jungkook.
Sarang stands back and watches him help Jungwon get the blocks and start playing with him, shock evident on her face because this man really is the father of your child. She has been very supportive during your stay at this company, being raised by a single mom herself. She knows how hard it is and had always wished that the mysterious Jeon Jungkook would finally show up, knowing that Jungwon will just be curious as he gets older.
She excuses herself and returns to the room, while Jungkook focuses on making sure that the little one busies himself with the blocks without making much noise. He feels the stares and hears the whispers of the other people, though, seemingly shameless in their gawking but Jungkook only laughs to himself. This is something he’s used to and he doesn’t really mind the attention. It’s just a little uncomfortable because he’s with his son, in the office of his son’s mother, and he doesn’t think they know the truth.
The two stay in their own world, with Jungwon constantly saying “oops” in his tiny voice every time a block falls, then asks help from Jungkook when he can’t get a block to stay still. Jungkook enjoys this bit, teaching the little one how to properly align blocks, and his heart softens when Jungwon stares in awe then proceeds to try it himself, only to fail.
“It’s okay, buddy,” Jungkook pats his head. “You’ll get it right, just keep trying.”
It goes on like this for half an hour, until Jungkook hears the door open and a throng of people come out. Not all take notice of his presence but those who do have that same shock and curiosity on their faces, which are followed by smiles and nods and whispering, and he just shakes his head until he hears your voice, talking to another man.
The man is walking next to you, making you laugh. You both stop a few feet away from the couch, unaware of Jungkook’s and Jungwon’s presence, the older man slyly eyeing the interaction. You try to maintain a distance but the other man finds ways to move closer, and Jungkook huffs to himself because he knows what that means.
“Please, ___, tell me you’ll make it tonight. It’s been so long since you last joined us for drinks. We’re working together again and that calls for a celebration, right?” The man says, the flirtiness of his voice not lost on Jungkook.
“Jungwon’s had a long day and I just wanna be with him tonight. It’s been a tiring week too, I’m sorry,” you say. “Maybe next time?”
“Can’t you get a babysitter for him, though? Give yourself some time to let loose and have fun? Sarang has mentioned that you haven’t been out in forever,” he responds, earning him a couple of yeses from the others still lingering, unaware of Jungkook’s prying eyes and ears not far away.
“I’ll think about it, Dan. I don’t like being away from Jungwon for long, anyway.”
“Come on, ___. It’s just—”
He gets distracted by the exaggerated throat-clearing from the couch, causing the small group to look in that direction. Gasps are heard as they take in Jeon Jungkook in their office, helping Jungwon return the blocks in the box.
“Oh, Jungkook, you’re here!” You say, approaching him. “Did you wait too long?”
“No, it's just been a while,” he says, Jungwon now sighing out of tiredness, prompting Jungkook to pick him up. “You’re not joining them?”
“I’m too tired to go out, and this little one feels the same. I kept him out too long,” you pout as you rub Jungwon’s back.
“I can take you home, then,” Dan says from behind.
“That would be—”
“Unnecessary. I’ll take her home. I have the car seat and all,” Jungkook says, forcing a smile as he looks at the man who’s clearly trying his way with you. “Jeon Jungkook, by the way,” he continues, extending his hand. “I’m…”
“A friend from college,” you finish, causing Jungkook to flinch at the half truth, although telling everyone that you’re ex-lovers isn’t exactly a smart idea.
“Kyung Dan, a good friend of ___’s. We’ve worked together on a couple of projects,” he says, handshake firm, as if sizing up Jungkook. Dan is a built man, too, but nothing like Jungkook.
“Nice to meet you,” he replies, although his taut face doesn’t really match his words.
You feel tense because you’ve seen this before. This is how Jungkook used to greet the men you introduced when you were together - exchanging pleasantries, making small talk, giving a handshake, but with head-to-toe gazes and looks that could pierce glass. Somehow this makes your heart do things because he can’t actually be jealous, right? But you shake off the feeling before you become delusional.
Dan just nods, and his face contorts as one of your workmates not-so-softly says that “told you she’d be more into athletes,” which causes you to pinch your nose bridge in exasperation and Dan to fake a cough.
You don’t miss the smirk on Jungkook’s face though, as if he won this round, and you excuse yourself to get your things before things get even more awkward.
**
You place Jungwon in the car seat and head to the front, a little giddy at something so familiar yet new at the same time. You wait until the traffic light before you turn to Jungkook.
“Thank you for picking him up. And sorry, too if I disturbed training or something. It’s just that usually, Tae—”
“___,” Jungkook says, trying his best not to sound frustrated. He looks at the rearview mirror to check on Jungwon, who’s fallen asleep immediately, before he continues.
“You shouldn’t be sorry for a responsibility I should have, okay? I get that Tae and Namjoon do this when you’re unable but… I really don’t want to be your third option when it comes to things concerning Jungwon.”
You sigh and nod, knowing he’s right. It’s just been reflex for you to call on your best friend or your brother, and this dynamic with Jungkook is new, add to the fact that the baseball season is coming up and you know he’d be busy.
“I know we haven’t told him yet but it doesn’t change the fact I’m his father. You should be calling me. We should be doing this together. Make me the first option.”
“Yeah, but—”
“Don’t make my career any more of an excuse, please,” he says, as if he’s begging, desperate for you not to push him away again like last time.
“I know I have training but we follow hours, too. I’m done by 6 most days so I’ll always be available. I’ll let you know when I’m not and then you can call on Tae or Namjoon. Is that okay? Can we agree on that?”
“Of course, Jungkook,” you say, sighing in your seat, as if you’ve just been reprimanded.
But something about it makes your heart flutter, the way he said we, and telling you to make him your first option. You want to, so badly, more than just to pick up or take care of Jungwon, but you control your heart whatever it wants to feel, and your mind wherever it wants to wander. It’s not that simple, you remind yourself.
Asking Jungkook to forgive you for keeping Jungwon from him is one thing, but asking him to give you a chance after everything is something else. Parents staying together doesn’t always equate to the child feeling loved - it’s what you learned from Taehyung, and you’re just glad that his parents’ lack of love for each other didn’t diminish his capacity to love others with his whole heart.
This thing with Jungkook is not as straightforward as just asking for another chance because there’s so much more at stake; you can’t let Jungwon hurt at the end of this if you and Jungkook force a love that may have died all those years ago the moment you decided to walk out of his life. He did move on, you remind yourself.
It’s silent for the rest of the ride until you make it home. He walks you to your apartment door and softly pats Jungwon’s head, already in deep sleep.
“Just call, okay? Whether it’s to pick him up or look after him when you want a night out.”
You chuckle. “I don’t have time for that.”
“You used to not have time for that. I’m here now, remember? It might be good for you, too, to let loose and have fun. Might help with the stress,” he says.
“Okay, I’ll keep that in mind.”
**
Jungkook is both glad and upset that you indeed kept in mind what he said about going out. He’s glad because it means he gets to spend more time with Jungwon.
Between the weekly dinners and weekend playdates, the bond between father and son is now unmistakable. He’d picked up Jungwon from daycare twice in the past two weeks, and you’d given them your approval to detour for ice cream and milkshakes on the way to you. The laughs come more easily, the hugs more natural, and the conversations, longer.
He’s a little upset because, well, of the scene playing out in front of him. It’s another Friday and you finally agreed to go out with your workmates. You and Jungkook agreed it would be better for him to watch over Jungwon at your place where he’s more comfortable, so that’s where Jungkook went, spare key in hand after he dropped by your office. They molded clay and started building a lego ship over cheese pizza for dinner.
Jungkook insisted on picking you up, stating that he’d feel less anxious instead of you being brought home by others who drank, or you going home by yourself at this time of the night. You’re both just thankful that Jungwon is a heavy sleeper and didn’t budge at all when Jungkook placed him in the car seat at 12:30 AM and then headed to you.
He’s currently parked out front, his hands gripping the wheel at the sight of that Kyung Dan blatantly flirting with you. Again. He’s walking you out of the bar and holding you by your arm as you walk down the stairs in your heels.
You don’t seem like you’ve drank much, but you’re also not pushing him away. You both settle near the car, with Dan constantly touching your elbow, and Jungkook smirks when you move your arms behind your back, as if to deny the man some access.
Your face lights up at the sight of the Lexus and Jungkook’s silhouette behind the wheel, and you start walking towards the car. Dan attempts to follow you but you wave him goodbye and head straight to the passenger seat, eyes immediately turning to Jungwon asleep in the backseat.
“Hi, how was bonding night?” You ask, eyes a bit glassy but smile just as soft. Any bit of frustration that Jungkook felt at the man trying to flirt with you melts away.
“Don’t mind the lego mess in your living room, okay? We’re gonna finish it tomorrow,” Jungkook smiles, earning him a laugh.
“You bought it? You’re spoiling him, Jungkook!”
“That’s nowhere near my kind of spoiling, ___. You have no idea what I’m capable of,” he smirks. “But he really enjoyed it, said it himself that I should come over tomorrow.”
“There you go, getting invited by the King himself,” you say, your smile mirroring Jungkook’s. “I’m glad, then. We could just stay in tomorrow. I can bake some muffins and get some chores done.”
“No.”
“Excuse me?”
“I mean, yes to the muffins, but can you pass up on the chores? Join us. Maybe watch a movie, too. It’d be nice to, uhm, you know, just spend time together,” he stammers, wishing he doesn’t sound too forward.
“Okay, then. Yes to the muffins and to building that lego ship and watching a movie,” you grin, heart now beating fast, and it’s not from the alcohol you just consumed.
The next day, you do exactly what you’d planned and end it with contented tummies, a completed lego ship, and tears shed from watching the movie Coco.
**
With Jungkook coming home and you two being more than civilized, which is really the bare minimum that everyone else had hoped, your group of friends’ dynamic had slowly returned to normal.
Aside from Taehyung rejoining the guys’ group chat, you’ve rekindled your friendships with Yoongi and Hoseok, too, who were just as ecstatic to finally be seeing and talking to you again. You’re still putting off Jungwon meeting them, though, because there hasn’t really been time, given that you’ve also been prioritizing Jungkook.
Everyone is just glad that you could all be together to celebrate achievements and milestones again, like tonight at Jimin’s opening night of the Swan Lake Ballet.
All men and their plus ones - except for Yoongi and Jungkook who, by nature of their singleness, opted to be each other’s dates - are standing by the performers’ lounge, leaving Jimin so he could ease his nerves.
“So, how are you and ___?” Yoongi asks Jungkook as he eyes one of the production staff who’s definitely been checking Yoongi out as well.
“We’re good, I mean, I’ve definitely captured Jungwon’s heart. He lets me feed him now and asks me what I want to eat when we order out and—”
The older man chuckles. “Jin’s right, you’ve been deflecting. I asked about you and ___, not you and your son,” he continues, rolling his eyes.
All the guys have noticed how Jungkook tends to avoid questions about you. He often gives vague answers and proceeds to repeat stories he’s already told them about him and Jungwon, which they all enjoy, finally seeing him happy and inspired again unlike months ago. But questions about his closeness with you, about a possible resurgence of feelings - or if they even left at all - or how the progress with Jungwon would impact Jungkook’s relationship with you are always dodged.
He’s thought about his feelings for you, but he’s not ready to verbalize them, given as well that the priority is to be good enough for Jungwon. While he does acknowledge that his relationship with his son’s mother has a lot to do with that, he keeps saying that he’ll cross the bridge when he gets there. When that is, he doesn’t know, but the sooner he’s introduced to Jungwon as his father, the sooner Jungkook will have to start really thinking about what he wants with you.
“We’re good,” Jungkook says, earning him a chuckle from the older man, but Jungkook knows that he can’t get anything past Yoongi; the man has this amazing ability to just know.
“You know there’s nothing wrong with trying again, right? I mean, aside from the obvious fact that the best situation is for Jungwon to grow up in a complete and loving family, we all know how much you loved ___. Regardless of what happened, I think at some point you were gonna try and see if it was still possible to get back what you lost.”
Jungkook chuckles. Yoongi really does know.
“Why do you think that, though?”
“I think it’s common to measure how much we loved someone by how broken and lost we were when they let us go. I mean, most of the guys think that way. You may have felt like that but you didn’t really lose your way, did you?” Yoongi says.
“Sure you changed but you didn’t really lose yourself when you were out there. None of the vices, the playing around, the recklessness. You did what you had to do. And you were still you, just a really sad version.”
Jungkook nods, recalling how his friends took turns visiting him in the US, making sure everything was okay.
“We were all anxious that things were gonna go downhill because of what happened, you know? But it never did. Because from what I’ve seen in your years together, you learned to love yourself the way she loved you. That kind of love stays with you, Jungkook, it doesn’t break you. And I think you always knew that.”
It was your strength, your unyielding belief in what Jungkook could accomplish, in your understanding and patience and acceptance of everything he was and wasn’t. That was how you loved him.
He thinks about all the sacrifices you made for him and now your son, how you’d constantly put both of them above your own needs, how it must’ve been hard fighting through everything all these years for someone more important.
He thinks of how you deserve nothing less than the kind of love that heals, that doesn’t waver, that doesn’t break. And just as he wants to be good enough for Jungwon, he realizes that he wants to be good enough for you, too.
Yoongi understands the silence, knows that he’s getting his point across. He understands the priority is Jungwon for both you and Jungkook, but Yoongi also knows that you can’t deprive yourselves of the love that’s clearly still there.
“I know she always gave you shit for calling her your light and all, but I get it. The moon, the stars - they don’t go away. They’re just there, even if you don’t see them. They don’t ever leave,” Yoongi continues. “It was never over for you. I think you were always gonna come back.”
Jungkook smiles, letting the silence say the things he’s not ready to, and Yoongi knows this.
“You really know so much, huh?” Jungkook laughs.
“Nah, I learn a lot from you all. It’s how I’m able to put out good songs, so thanks for your interesting lives.”
“We need a cut for being your muses, then.”
“It’ll come, kid. It’ll come.”
The two men laugh and look around, assessing the proper time to wish Jimin good luck before they head to their seats, but the woman catches Yoongi’s eyes again.
“What do you think?” He asks. “You think I’ll be able to write songs about her?”
He gets no reply.
“Kook?”
The older man looks at Jungkook who’s currently slack jawed at the sight of you. Dressed in a burgundy off-shoulder dress, you walk in the hallway, with Taehyung in tow as your date, and you look absolutely stunning.
Jungkook’s eyes follow you as you walk down the hallway, greeting Namjoon and Ara who are standing nearby.
“Wipe your drool before she gets here,” Hoseok, who’s now appeared next to him, says, laughing at the younger man who’s clearly taken by you. “Seriously, Kook. I actually mean it, you’re drooling,” proceeding to get this own handkerchief to wipe the corners of Jungkook’s mouth.
“Kid’s got it bad, I told you,” Yoongi laughs.
Jungkook clears his throat and fixes his posture, ensures his expression isn’t one that makes him too transparent.
You finally make it to where the three men are standing and you smile at him but proceed to hug Hoseok, who introduces you to his date - a fellow choreographer at the dance studio he manages - and Yoongi.
“Hi,” you greet Jungkook.
“Hi,” he stammers, causing all men present, including Taehyung, to laugh.
“You act like you didn’t date and that you don’t have a son together. You can hug, you know? No one’s gonna tease you both,” Yoongi says.
You flush at his statement but Jungkook punches his arm. Yoongi winces in pain and Taehyung massages the flesh that’s definitely gonna bruise.
Hoseok gently nudges Jungkook, causing him to inch closer to you and the younger man has no choice but to give in to them; it’s just gonna be more awkward if he doesn’t.
So he leans in, gingerly wraps his arms around you, his hands patting your upper back, then quickly moves away, even before you get to return his hug. It’s okay, though, you think. You know you could easily fall into him if it lasted longer. Just a trace of his bergamot and jasmine scent - his favorite, is enough to spiral you into a hurricane of emotions.
You play it off and he giggles, asks how Jungwon is doing with your mother, who’d come over today to babysit so you could spend time with your friends.
“Mom’s probably gonna have him sit through her cooking shows the entire night,” you laugh.
Jungwon loves his grandmother, a constant figure in his life whose voice he heard even before he was born. She used to soothe your stomach, caressing it and singing lullabies for the little one to hear, which is perhaps the reason why he’s developed such a strong bond with her.
Jimin finally comes out of the performers’ lounge, with Jin and his date and you turn to Jimin, who’s a little jittery. This is a usual sight as you’ve learned from the previous shows you’ve watched, which was really the only time you got to see the rest of the guys before.
“Jungwon wishes you good luck,” you say, handing him the card that Jungwon created.
“___, this is so adorable! Your son is wildly talented,” Jimin beams, eyes sparkling with joy.
From next to him, Jungkook clears his throat. “I helped him with that,” he simpers.
Jimin smacks his arm. “Are you a child? You can’t even give all the credit to your son?”
“Now, now, Jiminie. That’s not honesty,” Jungkook laughs, and everyone joins in, making sure to compliment Jungwon - and not Jungkook - and to help ease Jimin’s nerves. It seems to have worked, as he lets out a breath and thanks everyone.
He excuses himself, not before he gives a reminder about the after party at Jin’s bar. Everyone else proceeds to the main theatre for the show.
You sit in between Taehyung and Ara, the latter asking you about Jungwon. From the row behind you, Jungkook steals glances, admiring the way the lights cast a glow on you. You in your red lipstick and pretty necklace are mesmerizing, a signature look during formal events that he always loved.
You talk animatedly with Ara, and Jungkook can pick up a few of your words that refer to your recent trip to this activity center where he taught Jungwon how to ride a bike.
It feels different, hearing and watching you talk about your son and Jungkook knowing exactly what you mean. It sends a rush through his veins at the thought of how natural this all feels - you and him, out for the evening and Jungwon waiting for both his parents at home, and he smiles.
The show goes magnificently, Jimin performing flawlessly as always.
The group heads to Jin’s bar right after with the other performers and the crew, everyone betting that Yoongi won’t ask the woman out, that way they make sure that he actually will just to shut you all up.
It’s like college all over again, celebrating milestones and big events. The last time this happened, you were all celebrating Jungkook’s signing to the minor league, everyone dancing and partying like there was no tomorrow. It had been a fun night then, you and Jungkook grinding on the dance floor, a little celebration in itself because you disliked public displays of affection.
Jungkook was the kind of boyfriend who enjoyed having his arms around your waist, whispering silly things sexily in your ears. He liked pecking your cheeks and your neck, which always earned him the deathly tiny pinches from you because he liked teasing you too much.
That night, though, in his ripped black jeans and half unbuttoned black polo, he looked too sexy for you not to give in. You pulled him by his belt holes then, let him guide your hips against his as you both swayed to the music, his hand slowly inching down your ass. He wasn’t whispering silly shit then, his eyes just gazing at you lustfully.
It’s a familiar feeling because right now feels like that night, as you eye his toned and alluring form from afar, dressed in - yep, all black. You squeeze your thighs, Ara’s words fading in the background, until a thought crosses your mind.
Was that the night Jungwon was conceived?
You choke on the champagne you’re drinking, mind wandering to that night that oddly plays so vividly in your head. You stop yourself before the scene reaches the part where you both stumble in his apartment and undress each other and—
“You need some water?”
You peer at the doe eyes curiously looking at you.
“You were choking. Forgot how to drink alcohol?” Jungkook teases.
“No I just… remembered something,” you fake laugh.
“Mind sharing?” He cocks an eyebrow.
“Not. No. I mean definitely no,” you stammer, and he chuckles at this.
He calls a server and asks for water then turns back to you, who’s now yawning.
“Not your scene anymore, huh?” He asks.
“I’m too old for this,” you state in between another yawn. “Having a child makes me feel like I aged 10 years.”
He laughs, neither one of you now minding a comment that he can’t really relate to.
“I can take you home if you want,” he suggests, clearly oblivious to the tornado of thoughts caused by your own reminiscing that’s still wreaking havoc in your mind.
You want to decline but seeing Taehyung talking to the woman who’s been frequenting the art studio he works at, looking so comfortable and happy, makes you consider Jungkook’s offer, certain there won’t be any stumbling and undressing happening at your apartment where the (probable) product of that night is currently sleeping. Plus your mother. Yes, your mother is home. You have to remind yourself of that.
“Turning me down again?” He teases, another one of those comments that neither of you gets affected by.
“No,” you smile, giving in. “Tae wouldn’t even have stayed tonight if it wasn’t for that woman so we can go, as long as you plan on going home, too?”
“I am,” he says, yawning. “I’m too old for this,” that signature smirk of his appearing.
You nod and you both proceed to wish everyone goodnight, who are all too drunk to make any comments and you’re at least thankful for that.
Namjoon makes Jungkook walk in a straight line for a sobriety test, the younger man passing, and your brother lets you both go, reminding you to ensure your mother is ready on time the next morning for him to drive.
The car ride is surprisingly filled with laughter. Jungkook has taken to telling jokes, which is a better excuse to look at you than to stay silent and look creepy. You take to laughing and gossiping too, talking about some college schoolmates and what they’ve been up to recently, at least the ones you’ve heard from Taehyung, and you’re sober enough not to skirt around college stories about both of you.
Jungkook is quick to pull open the door for you once you arrive home, his hand gingerly placed on your shoulder as he guides you to your front door.
“Oh, ___,” he says as you pull out your keys. “Our opening game is in two weeks and it would really mean the world to me if you and Jungwon can be there.” His hand scratches the back of his neck, clear nervousness on his face.
“Of course, Jungkook! That would be great. Jungwon will be so excited,” you say, beaming now, as you imagine the look on your son’s face when he enters the stadium and sees his Cookie Monster playing on the field.
“You think he’d enjoy watching? I mean, we play catch but like, it’s a real game and it might be too loud for him or maybe too bright, and shit, he might get hit by the ball or something so maybe I can—“
“Jungkook, he’ll be fine,” you cut him off. You’ve never seen him so anxious but you guess the protective father in him is coming out.
“As long you’re sure,” he says nervously. “Plus, I don’t want to force him to enjoy it if he doesn’t.”
“He will. Because he’s seen you play before, he just didn’t know it was you,” you state, causing his eyes to widen.
“He… he’s seen me play before?”
You nod playfully. “Jersey number 7… Color blue or grey uniform,” you utter. “We would, uh. We would watch your games on TV and he would be amused with the lights,” you smile shyly, looking back on those days you’d have the Dodgers games on.
“He likes it when the ball flies high so don’t worry, he’ll definitely enjoy it.”
Jungkook holds your gaze, a look of gratitude on his face, given that you’d made sure all these years that he was a part of Jungwon’s life without your child even knowing it was his father he was watching.
“Okay, good,” he says, clearing his throat to hold back his tears. “I’ll make sure you both get safe seats, and then I’ll—“
“Jungkook sweetie, is that you?” Says a familiar voice from behind you.
She opens the door wider and she looks just as Jungkook remembers.
“Auntie,” he says as he’s engulfed in a hug, one he’s also missed so much.
“It’s so good to see you,” your mother whispers to him, taking in the form of the man who used to shower her with hugs. He used to be the one to envelop her with his large arms but now, she’s the one to do it, holding him tight because somehow she knows that Jungkook needs it.
He pulls away before he gets even more emotional. “You haven’t changed one bit, Auntie. Still so beautiful like I remember,” he says in a sing-song tone the way he used to.
“And you’re still a charmer, aren’t you?” She laughs.
“Not much has changed,” he smiles.
“Jungwon didn’t trouble you tonight, Mom?” You chime in.
“No, but he was looking for you,” she tells you, then turns to Jungkook. “And you.”
“Me?”
“Yeah, he seems to do that quite a lot,” you respond.
Jungkook bites his lower lip to control the smile on his face, and you internally gush at how he looks. He’s happy that he’s really made an impact on Jungwon, going as far looking for him now, which is a really good sign.
You and your mother let Jungkook bask in the thought, but you speak before you’re the one who starts to get emotional.
“So, uh, thanks for taking me home, Jungkook. You should get some rest, too. I’m sure training has been tough,” you say.
“Yeah, but uh, I’ll make sure to still see you both this week, alright? But definitely Saturday. Please tell him, I don’t want him to forget me,” he pleads.
“He won’t,” you laugh. “He’ll understand once I tell him that we’ll be watching you.”
“Okay,” he says, taking you in one last time tonight before he heads home, heart so full, he could burst into tears. And he does.
**
Jungkook does only get to make it for your Saturday play date, a late afternoon visit to your apartment. He’s been apologetic the whole week, worried that Jungwon has indeed forgotten him. You appeased the older man by calling him in the middle of the week and putting the little one on the phone, the two engaging in conversation that makes your heart balloon into size.
“Okay, bye Cookie!” Your son had said, not even giving you the phone back.
Recalling it suddenly made you feel like a third wheeler in this relationship, but that thought dissipates as you open the box that Jungkook’s given you, a pair of Doosan Bears jerseys folded inside.
Jungwon’s eyes go wide as he grabs the white one for him. “Mama, mama! Look! It’s for me!” He squeals, hugging the piece of clothing with an adorable smile on his face.
Jungkook melts at this, and even more when he places the navy blue baseball cap on the little one’s head. Jungwon looks just like his father when he was 4, the same age when Jungkook fell in love with the sport.
“So uh, there’s one for you, too in case you uh, you want to wear it,” Jungkook stammers, nervous at how you’ll take it, considering the only times you ever wore his jersey in public were during his championship games, all three of them, and he had to beg you to.
“It doesn’t have my name or anything, so don’t worry,” he continues, regretting it immediately as you cock your eyebrow because of course, why should he give you one that has his name on it?
“You’re so cheesy,” you say, but he doesn’t miss the smile you try to suppress.
“So you’ll wear it?”
“I’ll think about it,” you playfully respond.
**
“So you did wear it,” Jungkook nudges your shoulder as he stands up after greeting Jungwon.
“Hmm, it was last minute, though. I was wearing something else but this little one kept shoving this to my face,” you say, which wasn’t a complete lie.
Jungwon gave you the jersey after you helped him wear his own without much fanfare. No one has to know that you stared at yourself with it on for a while before you put a sweater over it, reminiscing only a little bit at how it used to feel like. You may have worn his jerseys to games only a handful of times but you loved wearing them around his apartment with nothing but underwear on.
Jungkook just laughs at you but melts at the sight of you either way, two special people in his life now here at his game, wearing his team’s jersey.
He, on the other hand, is a sight to behold, and those player banners in the main entrance, which Jungwon squealed over, do not do him justice. Jungkook in an all-white ensemble - short sleeves showing off his immaculate veiny arms and snug pants hugging him in the right places and emphasizing his long legs - just does things to you.
Your throat feels dry and you try not to look down but anywhere else in his face and body will just make you flustered either way so you excuse yourself and drag Taehyung to go with you to your seats, leaving Jungkook to deal with the rest of the guys instead.
This stadium feels like an old friend, given that you all had gone to watch several games here in the past. Jungwon, on the other hand, is in awe of everything he sees, wide eyes and o-shaped lips a constant to him in just the past hour that you’ve been here. You already know pretty soon he’s gonna start covering his ears so you ready the ear muffs and his other toys just in case.
The players arrive on the field and the cheers get louder when Jungkook is introduced. Jungwon squeals and you try to hush him so as not to garner attention. Jungkook is no huge celebrity here but he’s still an athlete who’s known enough.
You already spotted a few posts on social media about seeing the three of you together, with speculations about your relationship but Jungkook had advised you to pay them no mind. People don’t make that much of a fuss about athletes’ personal lives here, unlike in the US, so you try not to worry too much and just lay low. Although Jungwon screaming out “Cookie Monster” might also not be the best way to lay low every time the man with jersey number 6 and Jeon at the back goes out to bat.
The game is a blowout, with Jungkook making the final catch of the ball out on the right field for the opposing team’s final out at just the first half of the 9th inning.
Your group of friends all quietly cheer, especially when Jungkook looks to where you’re all seated, a sleeping Jungwon’s arms wrapped around your neck. It’s why you leave immediately with Taehyung and ask the guys to just let Jungkook know that you’ve gone home.
It’s definitely been a tiring day, between doing chores in the morning and spending the whole afternoon at the game, and you just want to rest. Jungwon, however, who was asleep for 5 innings, still has so much energy, asking you to act as a customer as he serves food to you, Mr. Choochoo, Ms. Monkeypants, and Ms. Bear-bear. He’s been asking for Jungkook, too, something you mentioned when he called and asked if you got home alright.
You’re about to eat the strawberry cake that’s just been served when the bell rings. A freshly showered Jungkook stands by your door as you open it. You didn’t expect him to come so soon and right after the game, knowing that the guys would be at Jin’s bar to celebrate.
He smiles at you, like something unspoken now, his desire to be close to his son growing day-by-day. You can feel it whenever Jungkook is around Jungwon, like he just wants to hold him and tell him how much he cares about him.
Jungkook calls for the little one, who runs towards him and tells him “good job,” which is what you told Jungwon he can say since his Cookie Monster won the game.
“Hey buddy, I got something for you,” Jungkook says as he kneels down then hands him the ball that he caught that made him win the game. “I won today and it’s because you were there to watch me.”
Jungwon’s wide eyes and o-shaped mouth make another appearance, as he takes the ball in his hands and cradles it, like he does with anything that’s given to him. He smiles and hugs Jungkook, something he’s done several times already.
But this hits differently for Jungkook. And much as he wants to just hug him tightly and tell him just how much he loves him, Jungkook knows he needs to be patient.
You’re all on the couch, Jungwon now on Jungkook’s lap, head on his chest as he starts to doze off. You managed to convince the little one to keep the baseball on the shelf because he might hurt someone and he agreed, falling limp on Jungkook’s body, who placed his hands softly on the little boy’s back.
Jungwon’s hand makes it to Jungkook’s earlobe, massaging it with his tiny hands. It’s a quirk he has when he sleeps, a therapeutic act that he does to you every night. It’s also something that he got from you.
Jungkook melts at this, remembers all the times he had you flick and massage his earlobes as you fell asleep next to him. It’s a comforting thought, especially at the sound of the little one’s steady breathing, indicating his now restful state.
You sit on the edge of the couch, watching Jungkook with half-lidded eyes and a gentle smile, basking in such a heartwarming scene. It feels so intimate, the three of you like this, the soft pitter-patter of the rain serving as the appropriate background to such a tender moment of a family that’s almost, possibly there.
“Do you think he’ll ask you again soon?” Jungkook questions, and you feel the desperation in his strained voice. “I just want him so badly.”
“I think it’ll be soon, Jungkook. He’ll come around,” you smile, hoping in your heart you’re not giving him false hope.
**
It’s five days later when you pick up a cheerful Jungwon from daycare, happy because he finally got to color Mr. Choochoo at school. He loves all animals but he has a special place in his heart for his elephant stuffed toy, a giant creature but a gentle one.
You let him point out the colors he chose - mostly blue, like his toy.
“And I drew us, too, Mama! Because Mr. Choochoo is family,” he explains.
“That’s nice, sweetcheeks. Can you show me?”
“Here is me,” he points to the little one, with what looks like a blue cap on his head.
“And that’s you!” In a yellow top, like what you’re wearing now.
Your heart skips a beat at the drawing of another figure next to him, a man, in a blue cap too.
“Who’s that, sweetcheeks? The other man you drew?”
“That’s Cookie, Mama,” he says.
“You said this was for family? Why is he here?” You ask. You need to be sure. It has to come from him.
You repeat the question as Jungwon continues to stare at his drawing.
He says it in whisper, as if it’s a wish he’s shy to even be making, but you hear him either way.
“I wish Cookie was my Papa.”

Stranded | JJK | E2L
Tumblr media
Jungkook’s offer to help you study for your exam is unwelcome. His entire presence is unwelcome. You don’t want help from the guy who passes all his classes without even trying. It’s annoying — he is annoying. From the way he grins whenever he catches you staring at him, to the way his eyes shine whenever he smiles at you. Oh, and let’s not forget the way his tattoos shift when he stretches or the way his jawline sharpens when he’s focused. Nope, you definitely can’t stand him.

A/N: This one's for you @fallinforkoo I hope that you like it!! This is not something I would usually write but the idea popped up when seeing the request so here she is! A little cliché but I hope it's original enough. Let me know what you guys think!
Tumblr media
“As your best friend,” Taehyung says sheepishly over the phone, “I really need you to do me a favour.”
You groan, leaning your head over the edge of the bed. “I don’t like where this is going.”
He hums. He doesn’t even laugh. There’s just a brief silence before he asks you the impossible. “I need you to invite Jungkook for the get-together on Friday.”
“Absolutely fucking not,” you spit. “Taehyung, my best friend, the platonic love of my life. I will do anything for you. Literally anything. I would suck your toes if you asked me, but I won’t do that.”
Now he laughs, loud and deep. It only makes you sulk more. Inviting Jeon Jungkook into your humble abode? To have him walk around with that smug—and delectably gorgeous—grin on his face as he finds something to make fun of? Not over your dead body. Not in a million years.
“Please, do it for me.”
You vigorously shake your head. “I don’t see how I would be doing you a favour by inviting him. You don’t even like him!”
“I mean...I really don’t mind him. But I like Jimin, a lot, and I feel bad for excluding his friend all the time, it’s starting to get weird. Can’t you just invite him over? I promise you won’t have to talk to him.”
Oh, but you do. Because Jungkook always manages to weasel under your skin and get you worked up to a point where you just have to say something. It’s not your fault that he’s such an ass. He just rubs you all the wrong ways. “I am in a constant state of wanting to rip his head off. I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
Jungkook is just so...You really cannot stand him. First of all, he doesn’t study. All he does is party and sleep around with random girls. Yet, he still somehow manages to be at the top of the class. Secondly, he’s a dick. He has no respect for both his elders and you. Any chance he gets he will make fun of you or blatantly insult you. And lastly, he looks too good and he knows it. Walking around campus just basking in the attention from all the girls, and guys, who want him despite his reputation.
Taehyung snorts. “If I were you, I would be more worried that you’re in a constant state of wanting to suck his dick.”
“I’d rather snap his dick in half.” Sometimes you wonder why you’re friends with Taehyung. After all, he’s the one who told Jimin to bring along his friend. Now, you’re regularly exposed to Jeon Jungkook’s incessant flirting with anything that breathes, constant whining about just about everything, and complete lack of personal space. Taehyung had been certain that if you got to know Jungkook outside of class, it would make you more amicable towards each other. However, it’s only made it worse.
“You know, sometimes people lie about something so often that they start to feel like it’s the truth.”
You roll your eyes, sitting up on the bed. It’s noon already. You really should be studying for your Psychology of Law exam. Also known as the course from hell. As a law student, you really can’t make sense of the material. All the mumbling about internal thought processes and stressors has your mind logging off. You’re chapters behind. You don’t even know where to start. Because unlike a certain someone, you actually have to study. Even with all-nighters, thorough summaries, and flashcards, you’ve still managed to fail quite a few classes. The future of your law degree literally balances on this one class. If you fail, you lose your scholarship.
“Are you still with me?”  Taehyung asks.
“Yeah, I’m just considering defenestrating myself. Anything better than studying for psych.”
“Even inviting Jungkook?”
“Anything but that.”  It’s not like Taehyung is completely wrong. Jungkook looks like a model when he actually decides to groom himself instead of showing up to class in sweats and uncombed hair. You’re way too aware that he works out five days a week. Or that he’s got tats lining his arm, intricate designs that—No. You’re not falling down this hole today.
Taehyung’s typing something up, probably studying for his own exams. “I will let you study then. Just please, invite him over. I will forever be in your debt. Be the better person.”
The sweet lining to Taehyung’s plea actually manages to work for once. He’s your best friend, after all. He would probably do the same thing for you. It’s just not that fun to be around Jungkook when part of you—as much as you may deny it—feels some type of way about him.
“I will consider it.”
“That’s not a no.”
“Don’t make me change it back to a no, Kim.”
He chuckles. “Someday, you will thank me. That day being the one when you finally come to terms with your feelings.”
“Bye, Taehyung,” you grumble, ending the call and throwing the phone down on the duvet.
So yes, maybe you do have a thing for Jungkook. Doesn’t make him any less annoying. If anything, it makes him even more insufferable. Why did you have to develop a weird crush on a guy you can’t even stand? The world doesn’t have to be cruel like that. But here you are. Not that it matters. Jungkook would sleep with just about any girl but you. Which says more about them.
Reluctantly, you get up and grab your books from your desk. Studying is easier in the living room, away from distractions.
Your peace doesn’t last long. Not even halfway through your first coffee, your doorbell rings.
Groaning, you get up and prepare your best ‘no I don’t want to buy whatever you’re selling’ face. Upon unlocking the door, that face falters.
“What the hell are you doing here?” you spit out the moment you see Jungkook’s big doe eyes. He’s standing on your doorstep like he’s supposed to be here. With his backpack nonchalantly slung over one shoulder.
He looks past you, into your apartment. “Oh, you started studying for psych?”
Your living room is a mess. “Well, I was trying to start, but I’ve been rudely interrupted by someone who has no invitation to be here.”
He rolls his eyes. “I’m here to make sure that you don’t fail another class and have to drop out.” Like he owns the place, he pushes past you and waltzes inside. He drops his backpack and readjusts his baseball cap, showing off his forehead and chocolate brown hair. It’s really starting to get long.
“I don’t need your help.” There’s no way he’s here just to help you study. And even if he was, he’s just going to distract you. You’re not friends. He must have some ulterior motive for being here. Jeon Jungkook doesn’t study, let alone help people study. Not to your knowledge at least. “I can manage just fine on my own.”
He grabs his laptop from his bag. “What part of ‘having to drop out if you fail another class’ did you not understand?” He puts the device down and gets comfortable on your couch. As if he’s done it before.
You cross your arms over your chest. “Who told you about that?”
He shrugs. “Jimin mentioned it, he must have it from Taehyung. Does it really matter?”
“Yes, it matters,” you sneer. “I didn’t ask you to be here. I don’t want you to be here. There’s no way I’m going to get anything done with you around. Get the fuck out.” You point a finger at the door, waiting for him to leave. “Do you not hear me?”
“Oh, I heard you. I’m just waiting for you to get over yourself and realise that you actually need my help.”
“I don’t.”
“Can you tell me the difference between compliance and suggestion in the context of a police hearing?” he questions, leaning back and propping his clunky boot-clad feet onto the table.
You press your lips together in a thin line, thinking about a possible answer.
He grins. “Any idea what the Reid Technique is and why it is or isn’t ethical?”
“No,” you grumble.
“You know what the pros and cons are of an Oslo style eyewitness lineup?”
You shake your head, dropping your arms in defeat. He’s got you. You don’t know anything. Maybe you do need his help. As long as he tries to be nice, you can give him the benefit of the doubt. Another year of your degree is definitely worth it.
Jungkook pats the spot on the couch beside him. “Let’s get started, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover if we want to get you a good grade.”
And so you get to work. Jungkook makes himself a little too comfortable in your home. Aside from pulling out his flashcards, multiple summaries and annotated materials, he actually slips into the kitchen to make tea. He raids your pantry for snacks and pulls out your blanket from under the table.
“What?” He says, mouth stuffed with gummy bears while he unfolds the blanket. “I’m sorry, but your apartment is really fucking cold. Since you’re dressed as if you’re going to the North Pole, I assumed the radiator must be broken.”
“It has been almost a week now. My landlord is being an ass about it. Also, I’m wearing normal clothes that normal people wear when it’s cold outside. Unlike you, with your short-sleeves and thin coat.”
“It’s October.”
“It’s nine degrees outside. You’re insane.”
“No,” he says, sitting back down with the blanket around his shoulders. “I’m just hot.”
A reluctant smile pulls at your lips. Why must you betray yourself?
He leans in close, inspecting your face. “I can’t believe I lived to see the day. You actually smiled at one of my jokes.”
If he’s good at one thing, it’s definitely proving that he’s an annoying shit. “I’m laughing at how pathetic you are.”
“At least I’m not the one who tried to hide her smile.”
“And I’m not the one who forced his way into this apartment. I’d watch out, some people might start to think you actually like being around me.” You turn back towards his laptop, scrolling through the document to the next topic. Police hearings.
Jungkook puts his hand down behind you so he can get closer—too close—and look over your shoulder. “Maybe,” he whispers, “I do like spending time with you.”
You whip your head around so fast you nearly knock heads with him. He doesn’t move. Both your noses basically touching. At this proximity you can see all the fine details in his skin. The flecks of lighter brown in his eyes that really do shine. The moles on his nose, the scar on his cheek.
“Nah.” He pulls away. “I’m just messing with you. I still don’t like you.”
What on earth did you do to make him come over here? If he dislikes you so much, he shouldn’t have bothered. You’re not a charity case. “If you’d just let me fail, you wouldn’t have to put up with me again.”
He tuts. “Where’s the fun in that? I’d honestly miss your bad comebacks and petty remarks.”
“Excuse me, my comebacks are not bad?”
“They’re mediocre at best, ma’am,” he laughs, grin showing the fullness of his cheeks that make him look deceptively cute.
You shiver at the thought. He’s a lot of things, but he’s not cute. Yes, he’s probably a good guy deep down, but he’s not cute. Jeon Jungkook is and always will be an annoying, self-entitled, arrogant brat. Nothing is going to change your mind. Not even the way your heart beats faster from just having him so close.
“Don’t ‘ma’am’ me,” you bite.
“I’m not even going to give you any points for that. You didn’t even try!” He makes an exasperated gesture as he grabs another handful of gummies.
‘Childish’ should be added to the list. “Are you here to help me study or not?”
Jungkook nods, sitting cross-legged. “Just so I get to bother you for another year.”
The two of you get back to work. He takes you through a very detailed and too dramatic explanation of the Reid technique. You find yourself captivated by how passionate he seems. He sure does know a lot about the subject.
Jungkook turns out to be a very active talker. He makes very detailed descriptions and uses his hands to explain things. It’s easy to understand him, but it’s way harder to memorise it. As the material gets more complicated, he gets more serious and you start to lose track. His frown deepens, dimple-like creases appearing in his cheek that make him look sharper and older. You can’t help but stare.
He’s so handsome. The tattoos that circle around his left arm shift as he speaks. The same way that his earrings dangle as he moves. You get caught up in him, the way he talks, the passion that rolls off him in waves.
“Are you gawking at me?”  He says, stopping his movements mid-air.
Cheeks flushed, you try to come up with a smart reply. “I was thinking whether your head has always looked this big.”
His lips pull into a straight line. “I’m here trying to do my best to explain to you what the difference is between an Oslo confrontation and a sequential lineup, and you’re worried about the size of my fucking head?”
“I mean, it’s awfully big, no?”  You poke his forehead.
He grabs your wrist in return, pulling your body towards him. “Can you at least try to appreciate my effort?”
“I’m listening!”
Wetting his lips, he arches an eyebrow. “Explain the difference to me.”
Well, you weren’t listening that intently. “Uh, a sequential lineup has a lower chance of causing false positives.”
“That’s the last sentence I said, you can do better.” He lets go of you so you can lean back. For a second, he actually seems pissed off. Maybe you should try, he’s doing his best after all. It’s just hard when he’s here looking this good.
“Oslo confrontations feature the suspects in a lineup at the same time, whereas a sequential lineup shows them one by one.” That’s all you got.
“Well,” he says, throwing you a gummy from the bag. “You got one point out of five.”
Treat halfway to your mouth, you stop. “One?!”
He nods. “And I’m being generous with you. First of all, you cannot call them suspects, they’re candidates or possible suspects. There’s usually only one suspect and the rest are actors who look like the suspect. You also missed the part where, during the sequential lineup, the witness doesn’t get to see all the suspects. Once they pick the one they think is the perpetrator, they will not get to see the additional candidates.”  Why does this sound so hot when he says it?
God, you’re going insane. “Well, I’ll try to remember that and the seven-hundred other things you said. All the blabbering you do makes it really hard.”  It comes out harsher than you intended. From the way Jungkook stays silent, you know it must’ve hit home.
He gets up, making your heart sink. “I think it’s time for a break. You’re getting frustrated. Do you want to order pizza?”
“I don’t recall asking you to stay over for dinner.”
Jungkook takes a long, deep breath, closing his eyes. You can feel the anger build up. “Listen, I’m here to help you. The least you can do is fucking appreciate it. Be stubborn all you want, but you need this. You want a shot at this degree. I’m here, because as much as I can’t stand you, I won’t enjoy watching you get kicked off the entire program because you’re struggling with the material.”  There’s a heavy pause. You let his words sink in. The level of concern is surprising. It’s sweet. “So do you want to order pizza or not? Because I’m starving.”
You nod. “Pizza sounds good.”
The tension ebs away after that. Jungkook goes into the kitchen and comes back with a mug filled with milk, of all things. You bite your tongue.
“I want pineapple on my pizza,” he says.
Pausing, you raise your eyebrows. “You cannot be serious.”
“Depends. How much do you hate pineapple?” His shit eating grin returned like it was never gone. It gives him away.
Narrowing your eyes at him, you speak; “So, double pineapple for you?”
Suddenly, his face falters. “Whoa, you can’t actually do that to me.”
“You’re the one who said he likes pineapple!”
“It was a joke. No person in their right mind would put fruit on their pizza.”  He sits next to you, taking another sip of his milk. “I’m really not picky though, but the one with the jalapenos is good. Or the chili chicken.”  Jungkook scoots closer so he can scroll through the menu on your phone, hand brushing against yours.
This way, you get a clear view of the rose tattoo on his hand. It’s beautiful, detailed but still in a traditional style. It suits him, as do his other tattoos. Though this one has always stood out to you.
“I’m just going to get pepperoni,” you say after a while.
Jungkook sighs, then turns his head to whisper in your ear; “Boring.”
Startled, you shove him so hard he falls onto his back. “Don’t be such a child. I’m not going to make you eat it.”
When he sits back up, his shirt rises and reveals the edge of a narrow, toned waist. You look away, focusing on actually ordering the pizza. Jungkook really doesn’t have to be so casually attractive. He’s not even trying and you can’t keep your eyes off him, noticing something new every minute. A good reason to not spend any more time with him after this.
“Gimme.” He plucks your phone out of your hands so he can order his own pizza. With the utmost concentration, he scrolls and types in some things. No doubt using your pre-set credit card to pay for it. “Wait,” he says, sitting up straight. “Whoa, you’re friends with Yoongi? As in Min Yoongi? The guy who won this year’s mock court?”
Gasping, you dart over to grab the phone from him. “Don’t go through my messages!” With one hand on your chest, he manages to keep the device out of your reach. “Jungkook!”
His eyes move over the screen, reading your messages with the third year law student. “Why didn’t you just ask him for help, huh? He seems to like you, and that’s something. I don’t think Yoongi likes anybody.”
You try harder to grab your phone from his hands. It must look insane, your body bent over his, him trying to find ways to hold you off and keep the phone out of your reach. Somehow, you end up squashed between his—way too strong—thighs.
“Jungkook give me my phone back!” you whine.
Something on the screen makes him raise his eyebrows. “Are you two like—you know? Cuz I’ve heard some stuff and—”
You shake your head, getting uneasy with the fact that he’s really reading your personal messages. “I don’t like Yoongi like that.”
Jungkook lifts his leg, using his knee to push you back. He’s got way too much strength in his body. “Okay, but I’m not sure that he knows that. He’s not a nice guy, you should steer clear of him.”
“Oh, and you would know how? It’s not like you’re such a gentleman.” Again, you try to jump for your phone, but he stops you in time by grabbing your wrist.
Face serious, he holds your gaze. “I’m not kidding. We run in the same circles. He’s a total asshole, you don’t want to get involved with him. You can do better.”
That sure is a way to silence you. You frown, settling back into your seat as Jungkook keeps scrolling through the chat. “I’m not into him, but he’s been texting me for a while. I was in his group for mock court.” Finally, you get your phone back, but your stomach feels uneasy looking at it. Perhaps Yoongi’s messages are a bit forward.
“I don’t know Yoongi well enough to be able to say for sure, but I know enough to tell you that he doesn’t talk to girls like you because he wants to be friends,” Jungkook says with a hand lingering on your thigh.
Way to make you feel good about yourself, Jeon. “What does that mean, girls like me?”
His face changes, eyes wide.
“What are you trying to say?” you press.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, he leans forward onto his knees. “All I’m saying is that you don’t deserve to get played by some asshole who’s just trying to get into your pants.”
“Oh.” Is he being for real? He’s looking out for you? This is not how this is supposed to go. Jungkook shouldn’t be nice to you. He shouldn’t be helping you, or care about your wellbeing. He’s a dick and the two of you squabble and yell at each other. Yet, your chest warms at his words. Even if you weren’t looking to get together with Yoongi, it’s good to know he might have alternative motives. “Thank you.”
All he does is nod, before he grabs his laptop to resume where you guys left off. The awkwardness slowly dissipates as he takes you through the entire lineup thing again, just so you’ve got it down. After that you move onto the remaining subjects.
Today sure is strange. You never expected things to be so comfortable with Jungkook. Despite his exasperating personality and your on and off bickering, his presence is pleasant. It doesn’t take long for you to sink into the couch, drinking your third large cup of coffee.
Completely focussed on his monologue, you ask questions very sparingly, enraptured by him. You knew he was smart, he passes his classes with grades of 80% or higher for a reason. However, it’s different to see it in action.
Pizza arrives a little late, much to Jungkook’s dismay. Turns out he’s quite cranky when he gets hungry. He devours his pizza way faster than you can get through half of yours, and he’s quick to inch towards a slice from your box. You smack his hand away, reminding him of how he slandered you for your topping choice. He can have your leftovers from yesterday
“You call this pasta?” he questions in a disgusted tone, crouched down by the fridge
“Take it or starve. Your choice.”
He gets up, nose scrunched. “I’d rather starve, thanks. What exactly do you excel at? Since it’s not school, wit, or cooking.”
“Aim,” you spit, flicking a piece of pepperoni at him. It hits him straight in the cheek and you burst out into a fit of laughter. He stares at you in utter disbelief, removing the greasy piece of meat from his face. Tongue pressed to his cheek, he fights off his own smile—or an insult.
Eventually, he sits back down and goes over the remaining material while you eat. The end comes faster than you expected, his eyes darting to the clock.
“It’s getting late, I should probably go home.”
“What?” You pout. “How can you leave me to my own devices like this?!”
“Because I did what I could. I took you through all the material, now it’s up to you to try and memorise it. I’ve sent you my summaries and I’ll leave my flashcards here.” He grabs his things, meticulously stuffing them back into his backpack. With a heavy heart, you hand him his cap that had fallen to the floor.
Jungkook pushes his hair back, putting his cap on. He looks as nonchalant as he did when he came in. Backpack slung over one shoulder, hand shoved into his pocket. “Good luck. I’ll see you tomorrow morning.”
“Yeah, I guess,” you mumble. “Thanks.”
“I’m glad my presence was enjoyed.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, I only endured you because I want to pass.” Part of that is true. Though, he wasn’t as bad to hang out with as you had originally assumed. Maybe it’s because his friends aren’t around to show off to. Or because he genuinely wanted to help. Which is still weird. “Good luck to you too.”
He waves you goodbye, opening up the door, only to be met with a gust of wind. The sound of rain enters your apartment. Water plummets from the sky by the bucket.
“Shit,” Jungkook peers outside, hesitating in the doorway. “If I don’t show up tomorrow morning, please assume that I have drowned.”
You would’ve laughed at the idea of him getting soaking wet any other day. He came here to help you study and now he has to walk home through the rain. No doubt he’s going to catch a cold dressed the way he is. Maybe you should listen to Taehyung and be the better person for once.
Getting up, you pull him back inside by the string of his backpack. “You can’t go out when it’s like that, you’ll get sick.”
He turns with a smile. “As much as I would like to see you squirm a little longer, I need to study too.”
“You study?”
“How else do you think I get good grades? Eat books for breakfast?”
You shrug. “We can study together tonight?”
Stepping closer, Jungkook forces you back inside. Almost nose to nose. Your heart skips a beat when his breath fans over your face. “Is this just a lame excuse from you to spend more time with me?”
“No. But I can only imagine the tragedy that will befall me if you catch a cold because you were out here helping me study.” You poke a finger into his chest. A grave mistake, it’s way firmer than you’d thought. “If I let you stay over, you no longer owe me one.”
“I’m sorry, but it really sounds like you just want me to stay.” Jungkook inches closer, backing you against the couch.
You open your mouth to say something when your phone rings. Looking over to where it lies on the couch, you see Taehyung’s name displayed. He can wait. You glance back up at Jungkook, who’s nearly chest to chest with you, and also has his eyes locked on the phone.
Then, he grins.
You act fast, snatching the phone from the couch and declining the call before he even gets a chance to touch it. Taehyung really doesn’t need to know that Jungkook is here.
Jungkook himself, however, picks up on this. He chuckles lightly, arching his eyebrow. “Are you trying to hide the fact that I’m here?’”
“I wouldn’t say I was trying to hide it, but I really don’t need my friends to think I’m hanging out with you.”
Jungkook drops his bag in the chair again, curious glint in his eyes. “And why is that?”
“Because,” you start, crossing your arms over your chest. “I don’t want to be associated with the likes of you.”
“What am I now? A villain?”
“No, you’re a stuck up fuckboy who does nothing but party and sleep with random girls and yet somehow still manages to pass all his classes. You’re annoying, egotistical, insufferable, pushy, invasive and disrespectful.”  You let out a deep breath. Yeah, maybe Jungkook’s been nice to you today, but he hasn’t changed.
He rolls his eyes. “Well then. I’ll have you know that you are nothing more than an average, boring girl struggling to get by. You’re opinionated, crass, entitled, standoffish, a bad listener, impossibly stubborn and a bit of an airhead.”  The words leave him as if they mean nothing. “It’s not like I’d want to be associated with the likes of you either. But here I am, stranded because of the storm. So you, my dear, are stuck with me tonight. You did offer for me to stay over, after all.”
“Whatever,” you breathe, “let’s just try to study.”
The two of you return to your previous position on the couch, but now, he faces you. With the flashcards in hand, Jungkook reaches into his bag and pulls out a container filled with Maltesers.
The rules are simple. You take turns asking each other questions. If you get it right, you get a chocolate, you get it wrong the person who asked the question gets a chocolate. Easy enough, right? Now that you feel a bit more steady with the material, you should be able to answer some questions correctly. Even if it’s just to rob Jungkook of the satisfaction of eating the entire thing on his own.
Two questions in and the bickering starts. Jungkook’s whining because he’s cold and you can’t turn up the radiator. But since he was the one to leave the door open, it’s his fault that it’s so cold in here to begin with. You’ve long hogged the blanket for yourself and you don’t intend on sharing it. It’s the only barrier that’s keeping you from touching his feet.
“Please,” he pouts. “I’m so cold, you can’t let me freeze to death in this fucking igloo.”
You pull the blanket closer. “No. It’s mine.”
He whines. “Come on, it’s big enough for both of us. It’ll be warmer if we share.”
“No.”
“You do realise I could just take it from you by force.”
“You would not.”
He sits up straighter, putting a hand on the edge of the fabric. “I’m giving you the option now. Either you share, or I’m pulling it from your cold, grabby hands. If you’re just afraid to snuggle with me, you can just say so.”
In order to not admit defeat, you give up half of the blanket so he can shove his legs under it. He extends his legs way past his side of the couch, his feet touching your lower back. You have no choice but to fold one of your legs over his, the other extended by his side. Indeed, it’s warmer this way.
“Now, where were we?” He flips to his next card. “Ah, yes. Weapon focus effect.”
That one you remember clearly. “It’s when a witness’ attention was so focused on the weapon present at the incident that they fail to remember any significant details about the perpetrator. It’s an involuntary process that often leads to inaccurate descriptions of the attackers.” You definitely got that one, no doubt. It’s easy.
Jungkook throws you a chocolate. “Good job, you’re doing well. It seems you listened to what I had to say after all.”
“I mean,” you say, popping the chocolate into your mouth. “I didn’t have that much of a choice but to listen, now did I?”
“You were visually undressing me the entire time. I had assumed your mind was busy with...other things.” He’s doing it on purpose, trying to get some type of reaction from you. Instead, you just bite your lip, not knowing what to say. “Oh, was I right? Tell me, what were you thinking about.”
You let out a sound, throwing a pillow at him. “I wasn’t thinking anything. And I wasn’t undressing you.”
“No, you were thinking of how big my head was, right? Would it,” he pauses, lifting up the blanket to peer underneath, “fit between your thighs?”
“What is wrong with you!” You scream, hands covering your face that quickly turns red.
He laughs in return. “You’re so easily flustered. I’d almost call it cute.”
Peering through your fingers, you frown. “Almost?”
“Yeah, almost. Not quite, because you’re still you.”
In a surge of confidence, you sit up straight and grab the stack of cards again. Not looking at him as you speak. “How about, instead of imagining what I taste like, you tell me what a flashbulb memory is.”
Inches away from choking on his spit, Jungkook doesn’t manage to come up with a smart retort. He just answers your questions with pursed lips and distant eyes. It’s correct though, so you get to throw him a chocolate. Which of course, he catches with his mouth. Show off.
It goes on for another while, storm raging outside. With the winds turned, you can now clearly hear the pattering against your window. You can’t imagine what Jungkook would’ve done had he been walking through this storm. It’s only getting worse.
Time ticks by fast. Soon, Jungkook is left with one last flashcard in his hands. And you are determined to get that last chocolate. He smirks to himself, probably aware that you don’t know the answer to this. But if anything, you are determined to prove him wrong.
“Tell me,” he trails, “what is the difference between compliance and suggestibility?”
You know this. He’s explained it three times. So you’re confident in your next words. “Compliance is when a witness giving a testimony willingly accepts a suggestion but is aware that the suggestion is wrong. Suggestibility is when they believe that the suggestion is right and thus take it for the truth. Both are problematic, but suggestibility is harder to expose.”
Jungkook tuts. “You got them switched around.”
“Huh?! That can’t be right!”
“Sure is, the last chocolate is mine.”
You snatch the bag away before he can grab it. “I don’t think so. Let me see that card.”
“Are you accusing me of lying?”
“For chocolate? I sure am. Let me see.”  You crawl over to his side, squishing yourself between him and the couch. “Jungkook,” you whine when he covers the card with his hand, “let me see. My grade depends on this.”
He chuckles at you. “It does not. I’m confident that you will pass regardless.”
You try to pry the card out of his hand, but it’s no use. The grip he has on the thing is too strong. He manages to hold you down without even breaking a sweat. It’s a few beats before you can realise that you’re now entirely pressed up against him. You can feel the muscles in his thighs shift, the soft skin of his arm against yours
“Let me have the chocolate and I will show you,” he whispers.
Flushed, you stop struggling. “Whatever, I know I’m right.”
Jungkook then reveals the card to you, showing you that you indeed, were right. “I’m glad you’re finally confident in your abilities. That’s the key to passing a test.”
Has he really been testing you this entire time? That’s sure one way to do the trick. Without replying, you sink into his side. Silently enjoying his warmth. It’s comfortable to sit like this, now that it’s night and the apartment continues to get colder. You don’t mind, really. Inhaling slightly, you catch a whiff of his fresh floral scent. It’s mixed with a sharp edge that suits him well.
As Jungkook grabs the stack of cards you got wrong to revise them, you don’t move. The two of you just get comfortable like that. It’s easier to see the cards the way anyhow. You can just look at them together. Plus, you’re starting to feel a little sleepy and don’t want to move. He seems equally as content, just reciting the questions and explaining why you got them wrong.
“Okay so,” you say, pointing at something on the card. “It’s not so much an issue on the witness’ side as it is on the police’s?”
Jungkook nods, looking at you. “They’re the ones leading the witness. It’s not the witness’ fault that they take on their opinion.”
You hum, meeting his gaze. He doesn’t falter, almost as if he’s searching your eyes. “Something wrong?”you ask, voice hushed, goosebumps appearing on the back of your neck. There’s a mole right below his bottom lip which is plump and looks soft. His top lip is more defined, making for a cute pout. The more you look, the more you notice all his moles. On his nostril, his cheek, his ear.
“No,” he answers eventually. Voice strained. “I think you have a pimple growing between your brows.”
“Get lost!” You shove your elbow into his side, pulling a pained groan from him. “You’re so stupid.”
For a moment he’s quiet, just rubbing his side and shifting so he can get more comfortable. One of his legs falls off the couch, the other still between yours. “You really hate me, huh?”
At any other given moment, you would’ve replied with yes. But now, it’s laden. Is he asking you that seriously? It’s one thing to tell Taehyung you can’t stand him, or to yell it in his face when he’s being a brat, but you can’t literally say it to him like this. Why, you don’t really know. The expectant look makes your stomach tighten.
“Why are you saying it like that?”
He shrugs. “No reason in particular. Just because,” he gestures at your bodies, “it doesn’t seem like you mind being around me that much. If anything I’d say that,” he stops, leaning in close to your ear. You can feel the barely-there graze of his lips. “You like being around me.”
You bite your tongue, looking up to find his eyes darker than before. Cocking his head to the side, he awaits your answer. You’re not willing to give him the satisfaction. There’s no need to stroke his already big ego any more. Yes, this is more pleasant than you’d expected. Yes, he’s nice to be around. But... “You’re still a pain in the ass. Sorry.” With that, you had expected him to look away, but he doesn’t. His eyes flicker down to your lips, and back up to your eyes.
“So are you,” he teases, lips stretching into a lopsided grin.
Within a heartbeat, your lips are touching. Jungkook groans. You gasp, pulling him closer. Closed eyes, your heart beats a million miles an hour, revelling in the feeling of his mouth against yours. How soft his lips are. The trailing of his fingertips up your neck so he can crane your head back.
He comes to life, parting with a brief look into your eyes and a deep breath. Then, diving in full force. Jungkook kisses you like he’s been waiting to—like he’s hungry for it. You can barely believe that it’s happening, still trying to register that he’s actually kissing you. That it feels this good.
Your entire body kicks into gear when he bites at your bottom lip. Shifting your body to face his, you wrap a hand around the back of his neck. Returning his fervor, your mouths part and tongues meet in a desperate clash. Jungkook lets out a deep, guttural sound that makes you shiver. He’s skilled, tongue swiping over yours in a way that you can barely keep up with. Deliciously hot, just edging on sloppy. There’s no room for pauses, no time for thoughts.
Gaining purchase against the armrest, you swing a leg over his to sit in his lap. Jungkook’s leaning back still, pawing at your waist now that he’s got full access. You take full advantage of the position, crashing into him and devouring him. Biting at his lips, sucking his tongue into your mouth. The feeling is nearly euphoric paired with the rough, firm touches of his hands all over your body.
He touches anything he can find. Gripping onto your thighs and ass, slipping under your tank top and sweater to graze the skin on your back. Sparks erupt everywhere.
Mid-kiss, he sits up. Twisting so he can firmly plant both his feet on the found. It’s the angle he needs to pull you right against him. Your hips make contact and you moan. He’s not quite hard but he’s certainly getting there and the thought makes your head spin.
“Fuck,” you gasp, breaking away for air while he grids his hips up into yours. “Jungkook—”
“No talking,” he mouths against your jawline. “More kissing,” his voice is so  raspy that it’s barely recognisable. Almost a growl.
You push his cap off. Grabbing his face with both hands and kissing him firmly. Angling his head back the same way he had done to you. Kissing him is way better than you could’ve ever imagined. He’s rougher, stronger, harder against your body. You need more.
Slipping your hands under his shoulder, you lift it. Tracing the hard lines of his chest, feeling how he jumps under your touch. It empowers you, makes you bolder. Your fingers reach a pert nipple, brushing over it only to hear him moan in the back of his throat. God, he keeps on getting better and better. Sensitive it seems, as you roll the bud between your fingers. His hips buck up into yours. Fully hard at this point, he must start to get uncomfortable in those jeans.
Jungkook’s resolve with kissing you slows, needing air. He breaks away with a smirk, cheeks flushed and panting. Holding your gaze steady, he pulls his shirt over his head in one smooth motion. Revealing planes of unmarred skin and tattoos you had yet to discover.
You take no shame in staring, reaching out to trace the dream catcher on his shoulder. Moving along the lines of thread and feathers that reach his elbow.
“Like what you see?” he whispers, pushing you closer with a hand on your lower back just so he can kiss your neck. You shiver, legs spreading. Leaning your head back to give him enough room to mark you up. The thought alone makes you whimper. “What’s that?” he mumbles, licking a hot stripe up your throat.
Fingers digging into his shoulders, you grind down onto him. He moans in response. “Stop being so smug.”
Jungkook throws his head back, looking at you through his lashes as you gyrate your hips more firmly. His body on full display. “I don’t know, it seems like you’re into it.”
“For fucks sake, shut up and kiss me.”
He listens, capturing your mouth with his. Everything moves fast after that. Between tongues and mouths clashing, Jungkook rids you of your sweater. He kisses down your neck and throat, leaving marks and enjoying the way that you quiver for him. You’re soaking through your leggings at this point. Jungkook’s doing no better.
When he pulls away, you take the opportunity to kiss down his neck, collarbones and chest. To get off his lap and kneel between his legs. His eyes widen as you do so. A hand immediately comes up to push your hair aside, tipping your chin upwards. When he traces his thumb over your mouth, you part your lips and swirl your tongue around the digit and bite down, making him hiss.
Spreading his legs to accomodate you, he relaxes against the cushions. Just like little pricks on the edge of your consciousness, you feel the nerves. You question your skills when you undo his jeans and pull them down his legs. Yet, the hazy look in his eyes tells you that he’s going to like this no matter what. He all but arches into you when you palm him through his underwear. Rock hard and leaking through the fabric, you don’t want to wait any longer to finally get your mouth on him. To hear him moan for you.
So you reach past his waistband, foregoing any teasing and pull the fabric down. His cock slaps up against his stomach, making him hiss again. The sight is gorgeous. Jungkook with his head thrown back, hair a mess, chest heaving and flushed even though you’ve barely touched him. It’s satisfying to know you did that to him.
You sit down on your knees, holding him in one hand and go slow. Mouthing at him first, giving him just a taste of what’s to come. He doesn’t hold back for you, reddened lips parting with all the noises he lets out. When you take the tip into your mouth, he jolts—groans and reaches to anchor himself on your shoulder. You have one hand on his thigh, the other around the base. That way, you steady yourself when you sink down on him.
“Don’t—Fuck, keep going.” A gentle hand winds into your hair, guiding you further onto his cock. You’re not usually one to do this but, seeing him feel this good spurs you on. It makes you want to take all of him. You don’t stop when he hits the back of your throat, gag reflex kicking in. He moans at the feeling, so you try to swallow. “Shit, fuck, don’t do that. Your mouth,” he pants, “so good.”
Feeling his grip loosen, you pull up, taking a deep breath when you let him out of your mouth. Spit dribbles from your mouth to the head, tears sting at the corners of your eyes. You look up, giving him the full vision, and you don’t look away when you sink down again.
You’re so wet. Core aching but unable to find any sort of relief. You end up trying to grind your hips without any payoff. Meanwhile, you start a steady rhythm. Hollowing out your cheeks and using your tongue on the underside. It works. You have him moaning out your name in seconds. His hand tightens in your hair again, not to force you, but spurring you on to take him a little deeper each time. Right until your nose hits his stomach. You hold there, to let him feel the flex of your throat one more time. Just so he remembers it. Then you take your rhythm back up, a little faster, a little tighter. Your jaw starts to hurt, but it’s worth it. To feel his thighs start to tremble and his stomach clench. How he tightens his hold on your hair, moans pitching every time you pass your tongue right under the head.
Your lungs are burning, but you can’t help but feel addicted to him. Sucking him harder and feeling him near that edge. You dig your nails into his thigh, breathing in through your nose. Jungkook’s hip start moving just a little, enough to startle you.
“‘M close,” he moans. “Fuck, can I—in your mouth. Shit.” He runs a hand through his hair, browns furrowed deep. When he opens his eyes you shiver. His lids are heavy, pupils blown and cheeks red. Just like his lips—he sinks his teeth into his bottom one when you resume.
He takes it as a yes, unable to stop his hips from pushing up. You let him take control, holding yourself still, hands on his thighs. Jungkook’s breathing picks up, moans mixing into one drawn out sound. You meet his eyes, mouth stuffed with his cock. That’s all he needed. He twitches and cums into your mouth. The taste is bitter and harsh on your tongue. You close your eyes, focused on the feeling of his body trembling. You’re the one who did that to him.
When he lets you go and you pull off him, he gives you a fuck-out yet expectant look. A cocky arch of his eyebrow when he sees your bulged cheeks. Waiting for you to swallow.
Instead, you reach for his mug that sits on the edge of the table and spit into it. Flinching at the leftover taste.
Jungkook nudges you with his knee. “Why are you like this?”
You set his cup down and reach for your own, take a big gulp of now-cold coffee. “I’m not swallowing your jizz.” The thought of doing that alone makes you want to puke.
“Don’t call it that.”
Rolling your eyes, you stand up on wobbly legs. “I just had it in my mouth, so I can call it whatever I want.”
Jungkook mimics your eyeroll. “Fine.” He pats your thigh. “Pants off.”
“What?”
He lies down on the couch. Surely he doesn’t expect you to ride him after you just fucked up your throat for him? What an ass. “You heard me, naked now. Chop chop.” He motions for you to hurry up and you just give him a blank stare. “Ugh, come here.”  Jungkook sits up just slightly again and pulls you closer by your waistband. He gives you a brief look. “Unless you don’t wanna get naked?”
You chuckle, pushing at his hands to get him to slide your leggings off. A hand slips between your thighs to touch you. Rubbing you through the fabric, your knees nearly buckle. He’s nonchalant about it, lying back, eyes focused between your legs. Yet, he’s too accurate, easily finding his target.
“Jungkook,” you whine, grabbing onto the back of the couch.
He smirks. “Let’s take these off too.” The snap of your panties to your hip pulls you back. You shove them down, taken aback by the feeling of a hand grabbing your thigh. You’re about to question him, when he scoots further back on the couch and lifts your leg past his body. “Have a seat.”
Mind absolutely blank, you let him guide you to sit over his face. You’re dripping and he can see it—feel it probably from the way you just grazed his chest. A small moan leaving your lips when he reaches up to kiss your stomach.
“Don’t be shy,” he chuckles. “I’ve got you.”
You shift forward, holding onto the back of the couch. His hands come up to your thighs, pulling you even higher so he can slot his mouth onto your core. You can’t help but moan.
Noisy. Jungkook is so noisy. He sucks your lips into his mouth, teethes at them until you’re shaking. You struggle to hold your hips still, the need to grind into him too strong. And he does nothing to stop you. No, he urges you on. Looking up at you with those big eyes and nodding against you. Jungkook opens his mouth, tongue darting out to tease at your clit just briefly. Then, the reigns are all yours.
He holds you by the hips so you can hesitantly start moving. You shiver. It feels so good; the wet warmth of his mouth against your core. He follows you, hands pawing at your thighs, hips, and ass. With eyes closed, Jungkook eats you out like he’s been dying to do it. There’s no teasing, no playing—he’s straight to the point. You move over his tongue as he sucks on your cunt, nibbling and flicking whenever he gets the chance. Anything else is irrelevant. The sight of his head blissed out between your thighs is all you can focus on.
The pleasure spikes, shooting up your spine and filling you with warmth. It’s embarrassing how fast he gets you on the edge. How good he is. The way he occasionally stops you to take that bundle of nerves between his lips and suck on it until you’re screaming—it’s mind blowing. Your entire body is on fire, sweat drips down your back. His name falls from your lips in cries that echo throughout the room. Louder than the storm raging against the window.
“Jungkook, I’m—” you pant, unable to finish your sentence with the moans that he pulls from you. Incapable of thinking from the second he swirls his tongue around your entrance and presses inside. You halt all your movements. Nails dug deeply into the couch, you reach for his hair with your other hand. He moans when you grip it tightly, his own fingers tightening around your hips. “Don’t stop.”
He alternates between fucking his tongue into you and sucking on your clit. The intensity is almost too much. The irregularity keeps you on your toes and has you nearly teetering over the edge. You just need to—Jungkook reaches behind you and plunges two fingers into your sopping core. The sensation of being filled along with his tongue flicking over you has your eyes rolling back. Everything goes white.
You double over on the couch, unable to keep yourself up and smothering him in the process. Trembling in his hold, he helps you slowly ride out your high. Short, gentle movements against his mouth. The rocking of your hips is as involuntary as the way your body keeps shaking when he lets you go. Breath high in your throat, you chuckle.
“Good god.” You fall down when he slips out from underneath you.
As you twist towards him, Jungkook wipes his mouth with the back of his hand, crawling over you. All your limbs still feel like jelly, your mind swimming. “Yeah, that good?”
You hum, eyes closing. Wanting to lie down, you turn on your back, hearing a sharp thud.
“Shit,” Jungkook gasps. He’s grasping his chin with a laugh.
A few seconds pass before you feel the soreness in your knee. “Ugh, I’m so sorry,” you whine, reaching up to touch him. But he has other plans. Jungkook surges down smiling, pressing your mouths together for the first time in what feels like hours. The stickiness on his face doesn’t go unnoticed. The reminder that he just ate you out, that he’s the one who made you cum that hard. You moan when you taste yourself on his tongue.
He kisses you deeply, smiling against your mouth. You finally get rid of your tank top, now fully naked. He mouths over your chest, twisting your nipples, spreading your legs so that he can fit between them. Pressing himself against you, hard and waiting. “Can you go again?” he asks, pulling away and searching your eyes.
You still feel floaty, but the sensation of his hard cock pressing against your thigh has you quivering. “Yeah.”  You’re aching to feel him inside, so you tilt your hips up towards him. Spreading your legs wider and inviting him.
“Wait,” you blurt, eyes flying open and pressing a hand against his chest. He stops with his hand around his dick, just about ready to slide home. “Condom.”
Jungkook curses, looking around the room. He locates his jeans that lie in a pile with his shirt and boxers. The fact that he’s actually got a condom in there is uncanny.
“You’ve got to be kidding me?”  You joke.
He shrugs. “I wore these jeans while going out last night.”
“You’re disgusting!” You slap his arm lightly, but he just chuckles in return. He knows just as well as you do that you’re waiting for him to fuck you. The clenching of your core attests to that.
No time is wasted, Jungkook puts the condom on and lines himself up. “You good?”
You nod. “Just go slow.”
The slight oversensitivity just makes it feel even better. He stretches you out so perfectly. You feel every inch, every stutter of his hips as he goes deeper. Way deeper than you’d expected. Until his hips meet yours and he curses, burying his face into your neck.
“You feel good,” he mumbles, kissing your skin.
“You too.” Trailing your fingers up his back, you wait for your body to adjust to him. To feel yourself relax and pull for more. That tell-tale need for movement, friction. Jungkook holds steady, hips barely moving. “Go,” you say when your stomach clenches. “Move. Fuck me like you mean it.”
Jungkook growls, grasping onto the couch. Pulling out and slamming back in full force. You slide up the cushions, so fast you grasp onto him for support. Fingernails digging into his back, legs wrapping around his waist, you keen at the pleasure. Each thrust is better than the last. Harder, more precise.
Your back arches off the couch, mouth agape. Pleasure is constant, like your body is vibrating with it. Jungkook mouths at your neck, sucking, biting—teeth playfully tugging at your ear just to whisper something dirty that you can barely comprehend. Your mind can’t make sense of anything but his dick pumping inside of you. His hips slapping against yours and his mouth against your skin.
Until he kisses you. His mouth messily connecting with yours, movements slowing. With a hand on your ass, he hikes you up the couch, angling your body so that he can press your legs to your chest. Just like that, he picks up. Starting off slow, still kissing you, tongue laving over yours almost sweetly. You shiver, the slow drag of his cock as delicious as the harsh assault. He changes angles, just a hair, but it’s enough for him to graze that part inside of you that makes you see stars.
Throwing your head back, you moan. Fingers sliding through the sweat on his back, up to tangle into his hair, gripping tight. He groans. Head falling onto your shoulder, hips stuttering against yours.
“You like that?” you whisper into his ear, tongue darting out to flick at a pierced lobe.
He nods, teeth sinking into your shoulder as you pull hard. Hips picking up, chasing the pleasure.
Hearing him moan like that. So unabashed and loud, only adds to your pleasure. Toes curling, you close your eyes and let your head fall back. Hips meeting him thrust for thrust, helping him reach even deeper inside of you. To hit that spot every single time. Jungkook has perfected that balance between smooth and hard. Never slamming rough enough to jolt you, yet firm enough to make you capable of sounds you were unaware of. Rhythmic, never stopping or slowing. So constant you can’t do anything but fall into motion with him.
Bodies syncing up. Hands finding places to touch.  Nipples, lips, thighs, waists, hair. He is holding you spread open for him, your thighs starting to ache. But it’s worth it, because soon, you feel the pleasure spike.
Your stomach tightens, tingling at the base of your spine. “Jungkook,” you moan.
He answers by looking up, lips bitten red and parted.
“Can you,” you can’t finish the sentence, moaning and closing your eyes. Tapping his hand on your thigh is enough though. He releases you, instead pulling your legs around his waist. Closer like this, his chest slides over yours. It gives you just enough space to reach between your bodies and touch yourself.
He looks down at the sensation, cursing at the sight of your fingers playing with your clit while his cock slides in and out of you. The angle doesn’t let you do the same, but you can hear the slick slide clearly. You can feel it dripping down your ass.
The added pleasure is enough to put you on the edge, fast. “I’m gonna—Jungkook!” you yelp when he leans down and sucks a nipple into his mouth. “Fuck.” One hand between your bodies, the other holding his hair.
In seconds, your high hits you. Hard. Your entire body locks up, so much that Jungkook lets out a strangled moan. Fluttering around him he joins you in your peak. Thrusts stilling, pressed deep inside of you. He spills into the condom as you rut your hips, still coming down.
Spent bodies collapse onto the couch, Jungkook refusing to pull out immediately. He’s basking in the feeling of your aftershock, walls still clenching ever so slightly. You can’t blame him. It feels good. Having him inside of you as he lies down, pulling your hips against his, kissing you. His mouth is tender, laving over yours without much hurry. A hand combing through your hair, softly humming, smiling.
He finally pulls out, leaving you feeling empty and slightly sore. Grunting, he ties the condom and makes a show of throwing it into the same mug you used earlier. It makes him grin.
“I’m throwing that mug out.”
“You really don’t have to.”
“Oh, I really do. It’s been tainted beyond remedy. I’m not drinking from that, ever again.”
Jungkook presses his nose against your temple, still grinning like a fool. “You’re so weird.”
You snort. “Says the guy who just three-point shot a condom into a mug full of cum.”
No reply follows, only comfortable silence. Jungkook and you just lie like that for a while. Bodies coming down, breaths evening out, enjoying each other. Slightly sticky with sweat, you let him grab the blanket and throw it over you. Your heart swells.
Could it be possible that you’re not the only one who feels something more? Deep down, you’ve always known he’s not just an asshole. You’ve just never seen that side of him before today. All this time you’ve tried to ignore it. To not let yourself fall for that trap. A guy like him isn’t supposed to be good. Yet, maybe you were wrong about him. And maybe, he feels the same way about you.
Taehyung isn’t gonna let you hear the end of this, but you can’t help but wonder if there is an opportunity for more between you and Jungkook?
“You know,” he says after a while, “We should definitely do this again.”
Your heart shatters. That’s it. Reality crashing down on you. Of course Jungkook doesn’t feel anything for you. He’s just out for sex and you should’ve known.
You scramble up from the couch. Jungkook sputters out something you can’t quite catch, trying to grab a hold of you. “Don’t touch me,” you spit. “I can’t believe you.” Grabbing your panties and pulling them on alongside your sweater, you put distance between the two of you. “Is that what I am to you? Just another cunt to fuck?”
Jungkook’s hastily putting on his boxers, standing up, eyes wide. He opens his mouth, but you don’t care to listen.
“That’s why you were really here, right? To get into my pants. That’s why you had the condom on you.” It’s all falling together now. How could you have been so stupid? “All the fucking whining about Yoongi, but you’re no better than him.”
“Stop,” he rushes, shaking his head. “Listen to me—“
“Don’t!” you call when he reaches for you, grabbing you by the wrists and forcing you to look at him. You try to wriggle away, but he’s holding you steady.
“Listen,” he tries again. “I—“
You shove at his chest. “Let me go, Jungkook. Fucking let me go.”
He obeys, arms falling limply beside his body. Expression going soft when he sees you’re crying. “Please hear me out.”
“No, Jungkook. You don’t get it. I have feelings for you. Real, non-sexual feelings. I don’t just want to be another girl on your checklist.” There it is. Out with the truth. Your breaths come out short and ragged. Harshly wiping your tears, you grab your leggings off the floor. Jungkook just stares at you. “I was stupid to fall for this act.” It’s true. He doesn’t date. Sex. That’s it. You should’ve known, you should’ve protected yourself. Should’ve never let him weasel his way into your heart.
Jungkook deflates, head falling, hair shielding his eyes. “I’m sorry that you think of me this way.”
What a pretentious prick. “Forget it Jungkook, I’m not buying it.” You look outside, rain still pouring down the window. “You know where everything is. I want you out before sunrise.” You turn your back on him and storm into your bedroom, slamming the door closed.
The contents of your cabinet click, something falling to the floor. Your tears only get worse. Feeling the cold of your room wrap around your worn out body. To feel the remnants of him still cling to your skin. The marks, the soreness, and the scent. God, you’re so dumb. You want to call Taehyung, to hear his voice and have him comfort you. But it’s two in the morning and his sleep schedule is shaky enough as it is.
So you just opt for a shower, stripping and getting under the hot spray to wash away whatever you can. You douse yourself in your favourite clementine scented body wash. But it does nothing to clean the fresh tears. Nothing can. The realisation that your feelings for Jungkook had gone way past crush hurts. You let your guard down and he drove a knife into your back.
Sleep, you think. You need sleep. You need to rid yourself of these thoughts and feelings. Wake up tomorrow and just pretend like this never happened. Even if you know it’ll be evident. You can pretend.
You dry off and brush your teeth. Three times to be precise. Ending up in bed wrapped in your favourite teddy sweater, warm and cosy. Your chest still aches with tears that no longer fall. Heart heavy. Like you miss him close to you.
There’s not much you can do but close your eyes and will your mind to shut off. You don’t want to think about him anymore.
The creaking of your door opening startles you right as you’re drifting off. He better be joking. You refuse to move, holding tightly onto the blanket, hoping that he’s just checking in on you and will leave. You hear the door click closed, and then the bed dips.
You hold your breath. Jungkook doesn’t speak. He lifts the covers so he can scoot under them and pull you against his chest. It’s not a tight hold, but it’s there. A strong arm draped over your waist, legs grazing yours as you pretend to be asleep. The feather-light gaze of his lips against your neck makes fresh tears appear in your eyes.
“Jungkook,” you croak.
He shushes you. “I know you’re upset with me. I just don’t want you to be alone when you’re feeling like this. We can talk in the morning—if you want. For now, just get some rest.”
It’s true. You shouldn’t be alone, crying yourself to sleep. Even if he’s the one that caused it. You just don’t want to let yourself trust the gesture. He’s probably trying to make you feel less angry. Even if it doesn’t work, it’s appreciated, ill intent or not. Having someone here is calming, letting you fall into an unruly slumber.
Tumblr media
The next morning, you wake up in his embrace. Closer, back pressed to his chest. His nose nuzzles into your hair. It’s so nice. Warm. Soothing. He’s a good cuddler.
Then, your entire body stiffens. The previous night coming back to you in flashes. Your bodies entwined on the couch, moans bouncing off the wall. You swallow tightly, lifting his arm.
“Hey,” Jungkook whispers. He must’ve already been awake, reaching for your hand and giving it a small squeeze. “Should I go?”
Yes. “No,” you mumble. You need answers. To make the story whole before you force him out of your life for good.
“Do you want to—”
“Why do you always act like such a dick around me?”
Jungkook takes a deep breath. “Because you won’t give me the time of day otherwise.”
You still, practically holding your breath so that you can hear every word.
“Every time I’m nice to you, you pretend like I don’t exist. When I push your buttons,” he sighs, “that’s when I get your attention.”
Attention? He wants your attention? Your mind’s running circles, afraid to turn around and see the look in his eyes and get swayed. Feel remorse for the pain you hear lined in his voice. That you can feel in the trembling of his hand encasing yours.
“Can you at least say something?” he asks.
“I don’t know what you want me to say.”
He sits up, the mattress shifting and your eyes closing tightly.  “Sit up, please.”  Grabbing your arm, Jungkook gets you to reluctantly sit up and face him. Though you won’t look at him, eyes on your knees that nearly touch his. You notice that he’s still in his boxers, but he’s at least wearing a shirt. He doesn’t force you to look at him when he starts speaking again. “I want to be honest with you.” He toys with the edge of your sheets. “But if you’re not going to listen to the whole story it’s not worth telling you.”
Your heart hammers. Tears threaten to fall. Taking a deep breath gives away your nerves. You want to tell him he can’t ask that of you. That he doesn’t deserve that. But if there’s even a slight chance of a misunderstanding—something your heart hopes for—you have to hear him out. Even if it’ll hurt. “Okay.”
“Thank you,” he mumbles. He’s nervous too. Breath shaky like his body, nearly curled in on himself. You never thought you’d see him this vulnerable. “Honestly, when I first met you, I was intrigued by you because I couldn’t have you. You just held up your nose every time I as much as looked your way. It made me want to know more about you. And the moment I did, it was over for me. I realised that you’re not just opinionated, crass, and entitled. You’re smart, a hard worker, and you’re such a good friend.”
You finally dare to look up. To see the desperate look in his eyes as he pauses. Shocked.
“I admire you,” he whispers.
“What?” you blurt. “You’re the one with the straight A’s, not me.”
He shakes his head in defeat, biting his lip and looking away. “The only reason I’m getting straight A’s is because I’ve taken these classes before. I’m not like you, I don’t work hard. I should be studying like you.”
You frown. “What do you mean, you’ve done them before? Do you already have a law degree?”
Jungkook avoids your eyes. “When I got out of high school at the age of seventeen, I got into a big university with a scholarship. The full ride. But I was stupid,” he croaks. “I wanted to fully enjoy the college ride. So I studied just enough to get by and dedicated the rest of my time to partying.” He says it like he’s disgusted with himself. Muscles in his neck tightening as he swallows impending tears. “I got arrested for underage drinking and lost the entire scholarship. Everything I had worked so hard for, down the drain.”
The words leave him pained, the regret for his past decisions clear in his eyes. Yet, he’s still here, studying this degree you know most students can’t afford. You have a scholarship too.
“So yeah,” he breathes. “I wish I had a little more discipline like you. I admire that you’re able to put school first. As much as I pretend to hate you just to get your attention, I like being around you. You’re a positive influence on people, including me.”
“So it’s my fault? For judging you?”
Jungkook’s eyes widen. “No, not at all. As I said, I was being an ass on purpose because I was curious about you. But when I got to know you,” he cocks his head to the side, “feelings happened. I just couldn't find a way to show you the better sides of myself. Which is partially why I showed up yesterday.”
“Huh,” you frown. So he did have ulterior motives? “How does that change anything? You still showed up here to sleep with me.” He’s talking in circles. You feel remorse for him, but you tell yourself to stay strong. His past doesn’t excuse his actions.
“I really wasn’t planning on sleeping with you. I wouldn’t do that to you. There just was no other way to get you to spend time alone with me. I wanted to show you a better side of me, hoping that you’d realise I’m not all bad and maybe would give me a chance.” A chance to what? “I like you,” he adds when you don’t respond, “a lot.”
What? He can’t be serious. After everything that happened.
“But I also care about you. I like being around you—bickering included. I genuinely wanted to help. I know how hard it is to start again, I didn’t want to see you go through that.”
You go silent. Trying to think over his words and not see the bad. To believe that he means it. He did help you after all. He studied with you for hours, never insinuating anything sexual. He was nice, comforting and believed in you. You never asked for any of that. And after all, you kissed him too. You could’ve stopped it. If he had just wanted sex, he wouldn’t be here.
But he is. “Jungkook, I’m so sorry,” you say, grabbing his hand.
“I’m the one who’s sorry. For making you feel used. I should’ve just been honest with you.” Jungkook laces your fingers together. “I know it was a dick move on my side to sleep with you. I shouldn’t have said what I said.”
“I played as much of a part in it as you did. So let’s just—how about we call it even. Bury the hatchet?” You cock your head to the side, rubbing your thumb over the back of his hand. It won’t be easy, you’ll need to do a lot of thinking, but your heart wants to forgive him. To see more of his gentler side.
He nods, lifting up your hand and pressing his lips against your knuckles. “Sounds good to me.”
The two of you get up after that, even if it’s a little awkward. It’s weird to not be bickering with him. You’re surprised that he actually cleaned the living room last night. There’s not a trace of him left aside from his clothes that are carefully folded on the table. Even that mug is gone.
“What do you want to eat?” you ask, reaching to the top shelve for another mug.
Jungkook comes closer. “Just coffee is okay for now.”
You turn, almost bumping into his chest, blushing heavily. Now that he knows you have feelings for him, he’s enjoying himself just a little too much. Smiling at you while you’re making coffee and some cereal for yourself. You eat in silence, browsing through your phone.
It’s when you get up to clean, that Jungkook speaks again.
“Hey,” he says, grabbing you back by the waist.
“Hi?” You turn around in his grip.
“You know,” he starts, hand coming up to brush your hair behind your ear. “As much as I regret what I said yesterday, I did mean it.”
“What?” You chuckle lightly. “You want to do that again?”
He nods, and you catch a faint redness dusting his cheeks. “I do, a lot of times, if you want.”
You laugh, twisting away from him to put the dishes in the sink. “If that is your way of you asking me to be your girlfriend, Jungkook, then I must say you’re not quite hitting the right angle. Seeing what happened yesterday.” He can’t seriously be thinking you just want him for sex after all that. You start cleaning, even if it’s just to avoid having to look at him and admit that you’re shy. Thinking about what happened last night—the good parts.
Sighing, he turns off the tap that you had just turned on.
“Hey!” You turn it back on, only to have him shut it off again. “What do you want?”
“I’m not saying that I want you to be my girlfriend. I don’t think I’m ready for that just yet.” He leans in, brushing his nose against yours, searching your eyes like he’d done the night before. Like he’s waiting for permission.
You couldn’t resist him even if you tried. So you kiss him, just briefly. “Then what are you ready for, big boy?”
He laughs. “For starters, I would love to take you out for dinner after the exam that’s in,” he looks up at the clock, “six hours.”
You groan, throwing your head back. “Don’t remind me.” It’s probably a wiser decision to take some time to think. See how you feel about this, but dinner won’t hurt. “I will still need some time to think about,” you gesture between you two, “whatever this is.”
“Oh,” his face falls. “Yeah, I get that. I just thought that—since you said you have feelings for me too.” Jungkook pouts. He fucking juts out his bottom lip and you haven’t seen anything more endearing in your entire life. Your heart does a weird little flip, and you know that you’re a goner. Even more so than you had been before last night.
Now you know that he is good. That he is worthy of a chance. So why not give it? Why would you sit around and let your mind think all sorts of negative things about him if you can give him the chance to prove to you that he’s a great guy. As he said, it’s just a date. Not a label. Yet.
When he turns away, you pull him back by his hand, slamming your lips to his. He grunts, both hands coming up to thread through your hair. The kiss isn’t deep. It isn’t anything like the way you kissed last night. It sweeps you off your feet, so tender and warm. When he pulls away, you’re out of breath and you can see the adoration in his eyes. You hope he can see it in yours.
Then, he pinches your butt.
You push at his chest. “Thanks for reminding me that you’re still an annoying brat.”
He chuckles, giving you a peck on the lips. “But you like me that way.”
“Sadly,” you grumble, winding your arms around his neck. “I do.”

Kiss it Off Me - Jjk/Pjm - (M)
Tumblr media
→ pairing | Jeon Jungkook x Reader , Park Jimin x Reader → genre | high school au!, smut, angst, bad boy jungkook → word count | 7,921 → summary | Jimin is a player on the school baseball team, you are his girl. Jungkook wants you to be his. → warnings | oral sex, Adult content, Violence, alcoholic beverages, low slang words,
The first time he saw you was when he was walking down the school corridor and he watched a girl in jeans overalls and a ponytail coming down the stairs with two other girls and three guys. You hugged a history book in you arms and laughed at something that one of the girls had said. Jungkook had been studying there since the first year of high school, but he never saw you in any of the school corridors, you probably should be a new student.
The second time was in history class, where you  sat at the first table in the row by the window and for some reason he was unable to take his eyes off you for the rest of the class. In the canteen you sat with the same people who were with you the first time he had seen you, laughing at the jokes that the boys told and he for no apparent reason was jealous of them making you smile.
At the end of class, he saw you waiting for the bus and didn't leave until you boarded it.
The next day, the same thing happened. You were wearing jeans and boots, your hair was still tied up, and you were carrying the same history book when he saw you again, this time he was leaving the library, with one of those boys following you, with his arm around your shoulders. Jungkook felt envy, jealousy, he wanted to be that guy.
The next week, he was even more confused by the way you acted around your friends and when you were away from them. You were like him, you didn't smile and you didn't interact when you were out of your bubble. You were interesting to him, and he had never hesitated to approach someone he found interesting, but this time it was different, he wanted to observe you a little more, wanted to get to know you more, before finally approaching.
"Are you sure you don't want to come with us?" Jimin asked you as soon as they left the cafeteria. It was almost nine o'clock at night and they had just had a dinner with friends. Now they wanted to go to a party at the home of one of their schoolmates, but you would rather go home and watch a movie on Netflix instead of going to get drunk like all teenagers your age did. It had been a few months since you arrived in that city and this would be the first weekend that you would not let them drag you into some mess.
“I do. See you Monday at school." You then waved at them as they got in the car, and took the cell phone out of your jacket pocket to call for a taxi.
Across the street, Jungkook and two of his friends were walking, both with beer bottles in their hands, making fun of each other when he spotted you standing on the sidewalk, with your eyes on your cell phone. You wore a white skirt, sneakers of the same color and a black shirt. You were also wearing a school baseball team jacket and a peach baseball cap, after all, you were hanging out with two of the school team players, so using their stuff was like a law for anyone who was a friend of the team. Something popped inside him and before he could control himself, he was crossing the street towards you while the other two boys looked at each other in confusion, until finally seeing you there. They knew that since you stepped in that school, Jungkook had developed an unexplainable attraction to you.
“Hey” you looked up from your phone screen when you heard a voice. When you looked in the direction that that voice was coming from, you were surprised to see the boy with long black hair, crossing the street and running towards you. You knew who he was, one of the rebellious and socially excluded boys from school, the boy who only hung out with two guys and never spoke in any class. You had already seen him jump over the school walls to skip classes, sometimes you saw him under the bleachers in physical education classes smoking with his friends, you had heard his laugh when he laughed at some student in the hallways, but you never really heard his voice, because you never came closer enough to him to be able to hear him. He wore a black tee, on top of it a long-sleeved checkered shirt in black, White and gray and on top of a black leather jacket. His black pants were baggy and had boots on his feet. Your friends were pretty, Jimin, the boy you kissed sometimes was handsome , but he, no one would ever be as handsome as he was.  "Hi." He said as soon as he approached, stopping in front of you, far enough not to invade your personal space, but close enough to get you drunk on the perfume he wore. And his voice was as stunning as he was. “You are (Y/N), right? We study together."
"Hm, yes." You answered uncertainly, never imagining that he would know who you were. You were silent then, he staring at you and you feeling embarrassed, trying not to look into his eyes that seemed to undress you. Soon you saw the other two boys who were dressed in clothes similar to Jungkook's, who were across the street, whispering something to each other and laughing. When they realized you were looking at them, they waved and you just shook your head in greeting.
"Why are you here alone?" He asked and you turned your attention to him who was looking at you now curious. "Did your baseball team boyfriend and the other two super powerful girls leave you behind?" He asked you through a chuckle. Anyone with the slightest intelligence would understand the irony he was using in those words, and you frowned, biting the corner of your cheek, trying to understand the reason for the irony. Did he have a problem with your friends?
“Actually, I was with them, but they wanted to go to a party and I preferred to stay and call a taxi to go home. And Jimin is not my boyfriend.” And you could have sworn you saw the beginning of a smile appear on his lips before he spoke again.
"Oh yeah? And does he know that?” He taunted, biting his lip before taking a sip from the beer bottle in his hand, without taking his eyes off you. You were never good at reading signs or understanding people, but at that moment he seemed to be flirting with you and just thinking about it, you felt like there were butterflies in your stomach.
"I hope he knows, or he will end up with a broken heart." And you bit your tongue, looking away from him for a moment. Jungkook exhaled and then smile, content with the answer.
"I would let you break my heart if you want to."You couldn't hide the surprise on your face when you heard those words coming out of his mouth, your insides twitched, your body shivered and a silly smile appeared on your lips, forcing you to lower your head, and use your hands to hide your face that was starting to burn. Jungkook smiled like a child when he realized that his line had supposedly worked, and finished drinking his beer, throwing the bottle into a trash can that was not far from where you two were.
“Hey Jungkook.” Taehyung shouted across the street, waving at his friend, making both him and you look at them. "Are you coming or not?" Jungkook just waved at them, asking them to wait a minute before turning his attention back to you who now looked at him with an innocent look that honestly was fucking sexy.
"We're going to my apartment, let's eat junk food, listen to some music and have a few beers. Want to come?" And again you were taken by surprise. First he was shameless flirting with you and now he was asking you out?
"Like a date?"
"Do you want it to be a date?" He questioned again teasingly. You rolled your eyes and laughed. He seemed to be willing to make you blush every second.
"You are not one of those crazy people who try to seduce innocent girls and lead them into a trap where they will be doped and transported to Turkey to be sold as sex slaves, right?" His eyes widened and he jerked back, blinking and looking at you like you were crazy before laughing and shaking his head in denial.
"Unlike my reputation, I am not an animal, at least not with those who don’t desserve it." He replied. "So?"
You took a deep breath. It wasn't every day that one of the most beautiful and mysterious boys you had ever met in life called you out with his friends. In fact, you didn't know anyone who had ever gone out with him and the other two guys and was always curious to know how bad boys acted out of other people's eyes. Ignoring the sermons and curses your friends would address you when they found out you were going home with Jeon Jungkook, you nodded your head in agreement.
"If you buy me a milkshake, I'm in." You shrugged and he smiled, showing his perfectly straight, white teeth, before running towards the diner behind you and returning minutes later with a glass of vanilla milkshake. So the two of you crossed the street, towards the other boys who greeted you and thus proceeded towards the apartment where he lived. You didn't expect them to be so much fun in the way they were showing off.
Nor did you expect him to live alone in an apartment in the suburbs of the city.
“I didn't know you lived alone.” In fact, I know almost nothing about you. You wanted to add, but left the comment only in your mind. As soon as you entered the living room door, already throwing yourself on the sofa that was leaning against the wall under the window facing the street, you observed the place, it didn't seem to be a very big place, the room was combined with the kitchen , were divided by kitchen counter and had only a small corridor that led to three doors and one of them was the bathroom, at the very end of the hallway.
"I share the apartment with Taehyung.” He said walking to the white refrigerator and taking three bottles of beer from there, throwing one for each friend and sitting beside you on the sofa, putting his feet on the coffee table.
"And did your parents accept it?" You asked with a frown and Hoseok, who was sitting in an armchair, not far from you, laughed and took a sip of his drink.
"It was either that or keep coming home after every business trip and finding drunk and drugged teenagers passed out in the corners of the house at six in the morning."
"Yah, you were the one who distributed the drugs at our parties, it's all your fault." Taehyung said laughing, sitting on the floor across the coffee table, and throwing a pillow at Hoseok. “But tell me... (Y/N), what's with the uniform? Does your boyfriend make you use this to mark territory?” He mocked and you looked at him offended.
"He is not my boyfriend." You answered with a frown. “And I am not an object to be marked as someone's property. I just like to wear it because it is warm and the cap is stylish.”
"If you're only wearing this because it's warm, then you should be wearing it." Jungkook said leaving the beer bottle on the coffee table, taking off the leather jacket he was wearing and holding it out to you who looked at him as if asking what he was doing. "Wear that, it's warm and stylish." You laughed and nodded, taking off your jacket and wearing Jungkook's. "Now take this off, it's ridiculous." He took the cap off your head and tossed it in a corner of the room.
“Wah, look at the preppy girl. Now you look like one of us.” Hoseok joked and you glared at him.
"I am not a 'preppy girl'."
“Come on, you are Miss Pristine, we are the drugged punks, and life goes on. Who wants pizza?”
You met a side of them that you didn't really think existed, they were like any boy your age, they were full of life, they were more ironic than normal, and they cursed more than they should, but they seemed to be a lot nicer than the rest of the boys at your school. Jungkook was being incredibly sweet to you, you didn't want to get drunk like they were doing, so he ordered some cans of soda at the same restaurant where they ordered the pizza, so you had something to drink while they talked. Unlike Jimin, he hadn't put his hands on you at any time, and even though he made it crystal clear that he was interested in you, he hadn't made a move against you. He was being very respectful.
You didn't even see the time go by, you had so much fun laughing at the stories and jokes that the boys told you that when you looked at the time on your cell phone, you got scared when you were shocked to realize it was two in the morning. There were messages and missed calls from Jimin and your friends. When you told Jeon you needed to leave, he sighed in defeat and his friends started making fun of him saying that he was in love and that he would probably cry in the bathroom after he took you home.
“You mean really cry or crying with his dick out?” And that was enough to make Hoseok throw himself in the armchair laughing out loud, Taehyung spat his own drink and Jungkook started to laugh, using one hand to hide his face embaressed with your sentence. You were less innocent than they thought.
The way home was filled with laughter and you singing the entire discography of The Neighborhood. When he stopped in front of your house, he turned off the engine and turned the music down. You looked at each other. His eyes alternated between your eyes and your mouth, and he finally had the courage to move his torso towards you, slowly, letting you watch his movements and stop him if you wanted him to stop, but you didn't. You let him approach you and finally touch your lips with his.
You stayed a few seconds like that, your whole body trembling, until finally you pressed your lips against his, and opened your mouth a little, letting his tongue slide against yours.
The first kiss was quiet, you could hear him breathing hard, almost like he wanted to control himself. His hand, which was on your cheek, slid towards the back of your neck, his fingers digging into your hair and pulling it lightly, making you moan between his lips, which triggered something inside him, making him deepen the kiss that was now full of lust and desire.
"You taste so good." He whispered, biting your lip and pulling, before kissing again, taking a hand to your waist, squeezing it, with the intention of pulling you into his lap, but you stopped him, breaking the kiss and moving your face away. He opened his eyes abruptly, bewildered, then his eyes turned away from you in disappointment, his jaw clenched, perhaps feeling guilty. He was obviously going too fast. "Sorry, I..."
"Do you want to come in?" You asked and it truly took you by surprise. His dark eyes lit up with lust and his pants, which were baggy and comfortable, were now causing him discomfort in his private parts. He raised an eyebrow, wondering if he had really heard what you said. "But we can't make any noise, my parents are at home."
"Apparently, I'm will have to gag you." He laughed and attacked your mouth again.
You were still wearing Jungkook's jacket, but you carried Jimin's cap and jacket in your hands. Upon entering your house, you did your best not to make a noise while walking up the stairs, you both took off your shoes, stepping on tiptoe, walking slowly down the hall until you entered your room. You locked the door behind you and left your shoes in the corner of the room. You put your cap on the dresser where you kept your lingerie, on top of some jewelry and some makeup products that you had used to get ready to go out with your friends. You threw Jimin's jacket into the closet, and finally looked at Jungkook who was sitting in your bed, his hands resting on the mattress as he watched you from head to toe.
"Do you know how beautiful you are?" He whispered with a frown, as you started to undress, taking off piece by piece, slowly, giving him a show, a show he always dreamed of seeing. And with every piece of clothing you dropped on the floor, he wondered in his mind if that was really true and not one of the erotic dreams he used to have about you.
When you took your hands back, opening your bra and letting it slide from your arms to the floor, Jungkook whispered a curse and moved uncomfortably in place, swallowing hard at the sight of your breasts. When your fingers reached for your red lace panties, he held his breath, watching you slowly push it down, sliding down your legs until you were completely naked. This was paradise for him.
Jeon stood up, he took off his plaid blouse and threw it on the floor before reaching the collar of his black blouse and pulling it up, without ceremony, showing his six pack, making you rub your thighs and bite your lips, getting even more anxious. When he finally brought his fingers to the waistband of his pants, you found yourself walking towards him and holding his hands, making him stop. Jungkook looked at your face, looking for any sign of hesitation or regret, but instead, he found excitement, lust. You knelt in front of him, holding the waistband of his pants and pulling it down, taking his underwear with it, your mouth starting to salivate at the sight of his hard, thick cock.
You held it, listening to a low murmur from Jeon who kept his eyes on you. You squeezed it lightly and moved your hand up and down, massaging him, while he bit his lip, stifling his moans. And when your lips touched the tip, Jungkook blew out of his lungs and watched how you sucked it, how you swallowed it, how you made it wet. He threw his head back with his eyes closed and one of his hands landed on your head, grabbing your hair, moving his hips towards your mouth in tune until he was fucking you throat causing you to choke for a few seconds, completely forgetting that if you made too much noise, your parents could wake up and he would be screwed.
“Fuck, babe. You're driving me crazy. ” He whispered hoarsely, looking down at you again, and the look in your eyes only made him even more hard. "Come here." He called to you with his hands and you stood up. Jungkook placed one hand on your waist and the other on your neck, squeezing lightly as he walked backwards, falling sitting on the bed. He broke the kiss and lay down on the bed, holding your waist and pulling you forward. Soon he had his head between your thighs and his tongue and lips in your pussy, you put your hands back, spreading them on his chest and he moved his hands up your belly until they were holding your breasts, massaging them while squeezing and pulling on your nipples.
The pressure he made with his tongue on you clit, using his lips to pinch it lightly, was making your core tighten and turn. The pleasure was unparalleled with anything else, it was inexplicable. Swallowing your moans, and controlling your muscles that were beginning to want to get out of control, you bit your lip and started to move your hips, grinding your pussy against his mouth. Jeon laughed and increased the speed and pressure of your tongue, which made you roll your eyes and arch your back. It was too much, if you didn't get out of there, your mouth would end up giving you away.
You patted his arm, as a sign for him to let go of your breasts, so you can get off him, but he didn’t obey, because instead of just letting go of your breasts, he dropped his hands up to your thighs, holding you over his mouth. At that moment you lost control of your breathing, panting violently and biting your lips hard, while he stimulated you with his tongue. He found it so sexy when you held your own breasts and threw your head back when you started to come.
"Fuck." You whispered, your body starting to shake when the hot pain reached its peak and you held his hands on your thigh, shaking your head in denial, with your eyes closed tightly, as he continued to overstimulate you. "Please. I can't do it anymore. I'm going to scream." Your voice was cut off and desperate.
When he finally released you, you fell on the bed next to him, curling and placing your face against the sheet, trying to control your spasms. Jeon got out of bed, grabbing his pants, reaching into his pocket and taking out a condom packet.
"Are you alright?" He whispered in your direction and you laughed in agreement. "Do you want to continue?"
"Yes please." You said with sensuality in your voice, and Jeon gasped, tearing the package with his teeth and placing it on his dick. You, on the other hand, watched him from the bed, lying with your back against the mattress. He climbed back onto the bed, and crawled until his hips were between your legs and his hands beside your head.
"Raise your arms, place them next to your head." He ordered and you obeyed. Then he held your hands, intertwining your fingers as he positioned himself and pushed into you. You opened your mouth to moan, but he went faster and kissed you, putting his tongue in your mouth and not letting you make a noise. Jeon started to move slowly, your thighs at his waist. His movements were slow, but deep, they were short but strong, they were intense, and with each thrust you tightened a little more around his cock. "Your pussy is so tight, babe. So soft around my cock." And he lowered his lips to your neck. You moaned as you felt him nibbling at your skin, biting your lips, as he moved slowly over you.
Before Jungkook you never thought you would be able to come while sex was so slow, but as soon as you felt your core tighten, you stuck your face in the curve of his neck. He laughed. He wanted to increase the speed, he wanted to pump hard into you, make you scream, but he couldn't, or your bed would make a lot of noise and in two seconds your father would be running after him with a knife down the street. But just being there, fucking you, feeling your body, listening to your whining and whispers, that was enough to take him to heaven.
"Fuck, I'm going to come." He growled. “Fuck babe.”
Tumblr media
"You want to grab a coffee?" It was almost six in the morning when you asked Jeon. He had his arms around his waist and you had your head on his chest. You heard him laugh, his chest swaying with laughter.
“Yeah, why not? We are already awake.”
You spent Sunday together running around the city, and you didn't take out your cell phone for a second to talk to any of your friends, you didn't have time because your hands were always busy touring Jungkook's body just as his hands were on your body.  At one point you found yourself together in the city arcade, doing a Just Dance competition, betting who would be the most embarrassed, and it was obviously you because Jungkook was a wonderful dancer.
At night you said goodbye with a kiss and agreed to meet at school the next day.
You didn't know what to do or how to tell your friends about it.
You were so tired from the weekend that you ended up waking up late, missing your first class at school. After being able to explain to the principal why you were late, using a lie of course, you entered the hallway of your locker seconds before the signal for the break signaling the end of the first period hit and the corridor was filled with students.
"Girl, where were you?" Selina, the brunette, asked, approaching with Ariela, the redhead. You snorted, stuffing your books into the closet, and and slamming the door closed, before turning to your friends.
"I lost the time. I didn't hear my alarm clock.”
"Did something happen?" Ariela asked a concerned face. "You look tense."
“Yeah, and where were you yesterday? We called you all day, Jimin almost had a heart attack wanting to talk to you, but we couldn't talk to you at all.” Selina asked and you swallowed. Should you tell them what happened between you and Jungkook? Would they judge you? Would they fight with you? Would they be mad at you? They were your friends after all, they wouldn't do that, right?
“Hey Miss Pristine.” Someone's voice caught your attention and as you turned towards that voice, you saw Hoseok and Taehyung walking down the hall, both had provocative smiles on their faces and looked at you. Oh boy. "Or should we call you Jeon Jungkook's New Girl?" Jung raised his eyebrow teasingly while Taehyung laughed pointing at the obvious features of surprise on your friends faces.
"See you at lunch." Taehyung said waving in your direction and hitting a high five with Hoseok while both continued to walk with style and calmly, as if they hadn't just dropped a time bomb in your hands. Slowly your friends turned towards you, all waiting for you to explain what had just happened, but even before you opened your mouth to say something the signal for the next class hit and you felt relieved.
"I'll explain later." You said it and practically ran up the stairs to the second floor where your class would take place, praying that you wouldn't clash with Jimin or any of your other friends, afraid that the gossip was already starting to spread. You knew you hadn't done anything wrong, but you still felt guilty. When entering the room, the tension completely left your shoulders when you looked at the back of the room and saw Jungkook sitting on the last desk, his arms resting on the table, he was wearing headphones and his cell phone was on top of his book.
When he felt that someone was looking at him, Jungkook looked up, his face lit up with a smile when he saw you. Something was wrong, why did you feel butterflies in your stomach every time you saw that smile? You composed yourself when you saw that some of the students there were looking strangely in your direction, because you were standing like a dead body right in front of the door, then you walked towards your table, which consequently was next to his.
As you sat down, you looked in his direction and nodded before opening your book. Jeon took off his headphones and placed them on the table before reaching for you and grabbing the bottom of your chair, pulling and dragging you close to him, causing you to widen your eyes and use one of the hands to hold the arm that was pulling you, not wanting to fall off the chair. The other students who were already in the room and those who were entering, looked confused at you as Jeon released the chair and used that same arm to hug you by the shoulders and kiss the corner of you mouth, making you blush.
"You're late. What's it? Did I make you too tired yesterday?” He demanded, whispering close to your ear, and you shivered all over.
"The other students are staring." You whispered and he laughed softly, taking a look around before grabbing your chin and making you look at him, who had a provocative look.
"Are you ashamed of me?"
"No, of course not, but... Look, I still haven't talked to my friends about what happened and not even Jimin..."
"I thought you said he wasn't your boyfriend." He countered, arching an eyebrow, his eyes darkening again and you didn't even notice when you held your breath. "If he is not your boyfriend, why do you have to explain yourself to him?" You opened your mouth to answer it, but the math teacher's voice caught your eye, and you moved your head, looking at the man in his late thirties placing his briefcase on the table in front of the class. "We can talk about this later." Jungkook's voice said and before you could even look at him, he took his hand back to the chair and pushed you back into place.
The class was tense, you had never been so nervous in the presence of someone, but it still wasn't a bad nervous, you didn't feel bad around him, just anxious. But eager for what? You didn't know. Maybe you were anxious to know that you have to talk to your friends about it, or because you didn't know what Jimin's reaction would be. Maybe you wanted to have sex again with Jungkook, or were you just anxious for him to say that what you had was just a joke and that he didn't want you anymore, so maybe you would have less problems, but obviously you would have less fun too. Not that your friends or Jimin were not fun, but with Jungkook was different.
When the bell for the third period rang, Jungkook was one of the first to get up to leave the room, but first he threw a piece of paper on your desk, marching out of the room without looking back. You raised your eyebrow and while you closed your book, you read what was written, unwittingly rubbing your thighs together.
'I can't stop thinking about the night I spent at your house. Every time I remember your cunt tightening around my cock, I get hard and completely crazy with desire. I am looking forward to the next time. '
"I am screwed." You whispered before you banged your head against your book.
In the next period, you were running around the football field in your physical education class. Ariela and Selina were at your side and made no effort to contain the shock on their faces when you finished telling them why you were gone on Sunday and why Jeon's friends were interacting with you.
"Okay, I congratulate you for having sex with one of the hottest guys in the world, but what the fuck did you have in mind to go alone to a place with them?" The brunette scolded you. "They could have drugged you and raped you."
"They are not animals, and if you want to know, I really had fun with them."
"Okay, but what about Jimin?" Ariela asked and you looked at her confused. "When he finds out that you cheated on him, in your bed, in your room, where he hasn't even entered yet, he'll freak out."
“I didn't cheat on Jimin. We're not even dating, it's not like I owe him an explanation.” You shrugged, continuing to run, starting to get upset about that subject. "Why does everyone think I date Jimin?"
“You’re always together, you always wear his baseball team jacket and the cap too. Not to mention that most of the breaks, or studies in the library, he was kissing you in front of everyone. So people figured it out.” Selina explained, stopping running and putting her hands on her knees, tired. So you decided to sit in the stands to get some rest. "But the million-dollar question is, is he good in bed?"
You laughed hiding your face in your hands before you agreed and they started asking for details.
After the bell rang, you went to the women's locker room to shower and change. All the girls finished off quickly and went to the canteen for lunch while you decided to spend some more time enjoying the hot water, since you weren't that hungry.
After finishing the bath, you wrapped the towel around your body and walked towards your locker. You could hear the locker room door being opened and closed soon after. Thinking it was probably just one of the girls, you didn't bother checking, just grabbed your clothes from the closet to get dressed, but you jumped back a few inches when Jungkook came into your view.
He carried a pretentious look and a malicious smile on his devilishly perfect face, and you automatically hugged your own body that was covered with the towel, trying to ignore how tempting he was. He, on the other hand, would never ignore the fact that you were irresistible with just that white towel covering you.
"Someone can catch you here." You said, clearing your throat, trying not to rub your thighs together for the thousandth time that day. He tipped his head slightly before propping himself up in one of the cabinets, without taking his eyes off you.
"Are you worried that they'll caught me in the women's locker room, or are you worried that they'll caught me with you?"
“Both? Either way, we're both going to get in trouble.” You sighed and Jeon smiled. Oh boy, he was up to something.
He pushed himself away from the locker, and started walking towards you, his eyes locked on yours, and with every step closer he was to you, the heavier your breathing became, until he was finally inches from your body, his hands on your face and his mouth brushing against yours.
“So I better make it worthwhile.”
And then he kissed you, a calm and sweet kiss, a deep kiss, making your desire for him intensify. You put your hands on his shoulders, until you were hugging him around the neck, It was so different with him, you felt like you could kiss him until your lips were hurt, you felt like you could, and wanted to kiss him forever.
“Let me make you forget that rich fuckboy.” He whispered, his teeth nibbling on your lip, while his hands went to your hips. You didn't say a word, just nodded. You couldn't resist him and it was still the second day since you started go out with him. You didn't even want to think about how you would be on all fours for him in the next few days. You would fall hard.
"You don't have to make me forget anyone." You had the courage to speak. Jungkook opened his eyes and stared into yours. "I can't stop thinking about you since yesterday."
"I'm glad we feel the same way." He whispered before picking ypu up and carrying you to the back of the locker room, placing you on the floor behind the last row of cabinets. He plucked the towel from your body, throwing it on the floor, before pushing you against the cold iron of one of the doors, making you moan, grabbing your face with one hand while the other tucked itself between your hair. "We don't have much time, so I'll just make you come and later, I'll fuck you, yeah?"
“Okay.”
You swallowed hard when he started to drag his lips across your skin, stopping for a moment on your nipples before licking your belly and finally kneeling in front of you. Jungkook kissed your thigh before placing it on his shoulder. He felt water in his mouth as he looked at how your pussy was already wet for him, and the urge he had to put you on your back and fuck you hard was almost unbearable.
When his lips came in contact with your swollen clit, you had to bite your hand to keep from groaning too loudly and ending up attracting the attention of any student who was passing through the locker room at the time. That was the most stupid and dangerous thing you had ever done. If you were caught, you would both be expelled, probably accused of indecent exposure and arrested, so you could say goodbye to your perfect grades and college. But on the other hand it was the most delicious thing you had ever done. The fear, the danger of being caught only made your lust increase and your libido soar, and Jungkook felt it in you, because you were dripping, twice as wet.
“Please Jungkook.” You whimpered, and he took his mouth off you for just a minute, enough for you to complain quietly, missing the touch of his tongue.
"Talk to me, babe. What do you want?"
"Please make me come." You murmured and if he hadn’t the jacket on, you would see the hairs on his muscular arms stand up with your hoarse, horny voice. At your request, Jungkook sucked your clit again, letting you hold his hair and control the speed at which he did it. His tongue circled your point, while his lips pressed it, sending signals and spasms to your body that became stronger and more intense with every second, until you finally pour into his mouth with a low, long moan, feeling your muscles relax, and if he didn't have his hands on your waist, holding you, you probably would have fallen to the floor, because you felt like your legs were jelly.
Tumblr media
Jungkook left the locker room first, but only after making sure that you were okay. You took another quick shower, and got dressed, leaving the room, still feeling your cheeks burning with embarrassment, you had no idea how you were going to face your friends after that.
When you entered the school cafeteria and tried your best to look like everything was normal, but the first thing you saw as you walked towards the table where you used to sit with your friends, was Jungkook's look at you and that made you feel your legs numb.
"Hey Miss Pristine." Taehyung's voice sounded and was followed by him throwing an arm around your shoulders, making you look at him with a smile. "You're going to sit with us today, aren't you?" He didn't even wait for you to agree or decline the proposal and practically dragged you over to the table where the other two were at, pulling out a chair for you right next to Jungkook. He, on the other hand, raised his eyebrow, looking up at you, as if challenging you to something. So you just sat down, making him smile and several students start whispering and asking each other what you, Park Jimin's untouchable girl were doing with those punks. "What do you want to eat? I'm going to get our lunch ... Okay, it doesn't matter, I'm going to bring everyone's Monday special." And so he marched away, making you blink in confusion. Since when was there a 'Monday special' in that canteen?
“You know, (Y/N).” Hoseok's voice caught your attention and your head turned towards him. “You look much better without that damn jacket.”
“Indeed.” Jeon agreed.
"Hm, (Y/N)?" You froze when you heard that voice. You had completely forgotten about Jimin. You saw the eyes of Jeon and Hoseok leave you and look at the one who was practically standing next to you. You cursed yourself mentally before moving your face and raising your head a little and looking at the blond boy who looked totally confused. "What are you doing?"
Jungkook scoffed, letting out a sarcastic laugh and looked at Hoseok. "Apparently, he's blind."
And while his friend was laughing, you turned wide-eyed to Jungkook, and Jimin blinked a few times.
"What did you say?"
"Did I stuttered?" Jungkook questioned, looking back at the blond boy who didn't seem happy with Jeon's petulance. Jimin knowing that starting an argument wasn't going to get him anywhere, so he just rolled his eyes and looked back at you who felt tiny at the time.
"We were waiting for you at our table. Why did you sit here? I didn't know you were friends with these guys."
"She owes you no explanation, man." Jeon's voice said and you could see when a vein in Jimin's neck popped out and he swallowed his saliva before turning around with an angry look at the boy next to you. His eyes were slightly wide, his lips were pressed, and his face was beginning to redden, not a good sign. You had seen Jimin nervous a few times, and every time it was in the games he played in, and it was sincerely terrifying to see him angry. You were always afraid when he was in that state. But what you didn't know is that Jungkook was not afraid and that he could be a thousand times more terrifying. "I mean, you're not even her boyfriend, so." Jungkook teased with a smile and Jimin frowned, slowly placing his clenched fists on the table and bending down to be the same height as the other. It was already beginning to attract the attention of the other students who were watching in silence.
"Who told you that I'm not her boyfriend, asshole?" He asked, slowly. Jungkook leaned forward and propped his arms on the table.
"She did, asshole."
And Jimin's eyes moved towards you like lightning. You didn't know what was hovering over his eyes at the time, but they were empty, and it scared you, scared that maybe you really hurt him.
“We need to talk.” You finally got the courage to speak.
Tumblr media
“Please tell me this is not true.” Jimin said after you finished telling everything that had happened between you and Jungkook within two days. You guys were sitting in the bleachers and he was looking at you as if you had just committed the worst crime in history. "How could you do this to me, (Y/N)?"
"What do you mean by that, Jimin? I didn't cheat on you or anything.” You said, as offended as he was. "How was I supposed to guess that you thought we were dating? You never even asked me to date."
"I thought I didn't have to, come on. We already spent most of the time together and I wasn't seeing anyone else but you." He stood up, moving away from you a little, hands on his hips and breathing through his mouth. He felt betrayed, but deep down he knew he was wrong, and that he shouldn't be demanding anything from you, after all it was his mistake to never make his feelings and intentions clear to you.
"Jimin, I'm sorry ..."
"No, it's not your fault." He interrupted you, turning in your direction, seeing how shrunken you were. He knew you well enough to know that you only looked that way if you felt really bad about something. "I just ..." He closed his eyes tightly. "I'm really in love with you, (Y/N)." And so he opened his eyes and looked at you, seeing the shock that his confession had caused you. You didn't really expect that, so your only reaction was to lower your head and face your own hands. And that didn't surprise him at all. He knew from the beginning that you didn't feel the same way, so he had been preparing for rejection for a long time, but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt. "But I think you love someone else."
"It’s nothing like that ..." You lifted your head. "I barely know him, okay? It was a moment thing, I don't think I'm liking him or anything."
"But even so, what you felt for him was strong enough for you to take him to your room, (Y/N)." The boy said, hurt, frowning. "We were together for more than 3 months and I never even stepped on the second floor of your home." You lowered your head again, biting your lips, not holding to see the hurt look on his face. Even if you didn't like him the way he wanted to, you still adored him.
Both were silent. There was nothing to be said. It wouldn't do any good for the two of you to start discussing an issue that wouldn't get anywhere, it wouldn't do any good to start fighting with each other, it would only hurt his feelings and yours too.
The boy ran a hand through his hair, tilting his head back, staring at the sky that was previously sunny, starting to get cloudy, just like his heart. Jimin bit his lips a few times thinking if he just left without saying anything else or if he would say anything more.
"Please, give me back my jacket and my cap." He said, making you look again at him who kept his eyes on the sky. "I don’t think we should continue to use couple clothes since we have never been one." His voice came out full of hurt and spite, even though he didn't want to show that that was what he was feeling at that moment.
You opened your mouth to say something, but realized you had nothing to say, so you just mumbled a okay and stood up, turning to leave. walking towards the school entrance, but as soon as you heard something, you stopped walking and turned back, your heart breaking when you saw Jimin sitting down and hugging his head, hiding his face in his arms while crying compulsively. Your reflex was to go to him and hug him, to comfort him, as you had done in the last few months when he was sad about something and wept for it. Jimin was a very sensitive guy, and you loved that side of him. But at that moment you couldn't do that, you had no right to do that, because you were the reason for that cry, you had hurt him.
You then turned your back, your chest aching and wanting to burst into tears for hurting an incredible person like him, feeling like the worst person in the world.
What have you done?

##
The place that Jungkook chose is a little French cafe that has a light and airy feel to it, and you think it’ll help Jungwon feel a little less intimated. There also aren’t many people around, which is surprising for a Saturday brunch hour.
You make out the table far back, by the glass window where you can see the flowers outside. Next to Jungkook is Jin, then Namjoon and Ara. The empty seats reserved for you and Jungwon are those in front of Jungkook and beside him.
You approach them, with everyone except for Jungkook - who just nods at you - standing up to give you a hug, with Jin spending more time than usual. With everything that’s happened, you didn’t realize how much you’ve missed your friends, too. They were collaterals of this whole ordeal; now you’re glad that you feel like starting over with them as well.
Jungwon stands behind you, arms wrapped around your waist when Jin comes close. He’s an unfamiliar face so it’s natural for the little one to be shy and hide behind you, like what he usually does, but he loosens up when you talk to him and make him feel comfortable, so you excuse yourself because you want him to feel comfortable around Jungkook.
You find an empty chair by the wall and sit Jungwon there.
“Hey sweetcheeks, we’re going to meet some of Mama’s friends, okay? They’re new people but they’re very kind and funny,” you say, kneeling down in front of him.
You get the brown backpack he’s wearing and take out his stuffed elephant, one of his many playmates that he likes to bring around. You place Mr. Choochoo in his arms, explain to him what you’ll do and that he can have some sweets later.
“Okay, Mama. I want some cookies,” he says in his tiny voice.
You tell him you’ll order some and pinch his cheeks, then you kiss his forehead, causing him to giggle, and you kiss him some more because you know this also makes him feel relaxed.
Jungkook watches from afar, the pang on his chest reminding him of the time lost, and he wonders if he’ll ever be like that with his own son. Jungwon is at a critical stage where trust is being developed, and Jungkook wants to be someone whom his son can trust.
The feeling in his chest grows as you approach them again. You give him a smile and help seat Jungwon next to his father.
“You remember the other day when you broke your airplane? Someone fixed it for you, right?” You ask.
Jungwon nods, eyes still focused on you.
“Good, because he’s here. Look,” you say, pointing to Jungkook. “He’s the kind man who helped you.”
Jungwon turns and looks at Jungkook, who returns his curious gaze with a grin. The little one is probably familiarizing himself with the man in front of him, as he nods and shyly smiles.
“Hi, buddy. I’m Jungkook,” he says and waves. “What’s your name?”
“Jungwon,” he whispers.
“How old are you?”
He responds by raising his hand to show four fingers.
“And when’s your birthday?”
“July 6!” Right as he answers, it registers to him, causing him to beam, the kind that reaches his cheeks and Jungkook’s heart is soaring. And just like that, the pang in his chest is gone.
You mirror Jungwon’s smile, knowing that’s enough of an icebreaker. He’s a sensitive kid who remembers kindness, and that day at the grocery, he saw it in Jungkook. You could chalk it up to some father-son connection if you like, but you also know that Jungwon tends to gravitate towards other gentle people, too.
The brunch goes surprisingly well, with Namjoon directing the conversations, knowing that it would still take some time to really settle into what was once familiar.
Days like this used to be a weekly engagement filled with jokes and unfiltered comments and hand holding between you and Jungkook, but everyone seems to be careful, reserved, almost unsure, like the glass will break at any wrong move.
Perhaps you’re all just giving this time for both father and son to be familiar and comfortable with each other. You know it will take a while but it’s something you don’t mind at all.
Jin is talking about his recent trip to Japan and his new ideas for another restaurant and you’re engrossed in his stories, until soft laughter catches your attention.
You turn to Jungwon, who’s laughing at Jungkook as he uses the macarons for eyes and makes weird faces, the latter pulling the sweets apart into smaller pieces and giving them to Jungwon who easily chews them. He offers Jungkook pieces of his cookies too, who dramatically devours them.
“My cookies!” Jungwon giggles.
You soften at the sight and excuse yourself before tears pour out and you will yourself to get it together in the washroom. You knew it was going to be a heartwarming proper meeting of the two but you weren’t ready for that kind of moment.
For all his shyness, Jungwon seems to be really comfortable with Jungkook, who’s doing so well, too, letting your child take the lead, not forcing anything, and being his usual sweet self.
Soon enough, brunch is over and you inform them of having to leave right away to make it to Jungwon’s dentist appointment in time. You place him in the car seat and turn to Jungkook, who’s now able to properly look at you, probably for the first time this whole day.
He opens his mouth to say something but his eyes lock in on your neck instead, a familiar piece of jewelry gracing the delicate feature. He stills and you’re confused, until you realize he’s looking at the necklace you’re wearing, the one with the moon and stars that he’d given you on your first year anniversary.
He told you that it was because you light his darkest nights and you squirmed at the cheesiness, smacking his arm and threatening him of getting rid of it if he ever spewed disgusting shit like that again. He loved that reaction, but deep down, you both knew that he was telling the truth.
It was that piece of him you could keep to yourself, one you didn’t have to share nor explain to anyone else. Out of everything you kept of your time together, the necklace was the only thing that didn’t make you break down every time.
You keep your thoughts at bay then nod at him and ask him what he meant to say.
“I’d really like to do this more,” he utters, eyes on your face now. “And not just on weekends. Whenever we can work out a schedule, that would be great. I mean, he and I have so much to—“
“Of course, Jungkook,” you cut him off, knowing he meant to say that there’s so much time to make up for and you don’t want today’s meeting to end on that note. “Let’s work something out, I’m sure Jungwon would love that, too.”
You exchange numbers, as well as awkward smiles, like you’re some teenagers saying goodbye on their first date. It’s a little refreshing though - way better than the last time when he was shouting and crying in front of you.
Any passerby may think it’s the makings of a romantic relationship, but if they only knew. You loved this man, and quite frankly, you’re unsure if you ever stopped.
“I’ll see you again, yeah?” You finally say.
“Okay then. I’ll see you.”
**
It’s not lost on you and Jungkook that you’re both on very unfamiliar territory.
During your time together, you’d had moments wherein you weren’t particularly fond of each other or weren’t in the mood yet had been comfortable in the silence. The tension was never overwhelming and you just let the moment pass until all was good again.
The longest fight you had lasted for 3 days. Yoongi called for a celebratory dinner over his song making it to the top of the charts and you were ignoring Jungkook, who sat next to you talking to your other friends.
It was  an hour later when he eventually pulled you in a hug, and whispered that he missed you and won’t be drinking banana milk for a whole week as punishment for accidentally deleting your entire midterm paper. You caved in then, laughed and deemed it punishment enough, and spent the rest of the night working on said paper in your dorm, a behaved Jungkook playing mobile games next to you.
When it came to both of you, no silence was too loud, no conversation was ever unwanted, and no moment was ever too tense and uncomfortable.
Except for that time in your apartment.
And maybe now, when you’re both seated in front of each other, Jungwon to your left and of all times, decided that he just has to finish coloring the butterfly from his art class. There are two seats that have been empty the past 15 minutes, and you and Jungkook have been engulfed in the most awkward silence there is, even with the background chatter of the restaurant you’re in.
Days after the brunch and official meet up almost two weeks ago, Jungkook had asked to grab dinner - you picked up Jungwon from daycare after you were off at 6PM and headed to the restaurant with Taehyung in tow, only to find Jimin accompanying his best friend. Two days later, the same thing happened, only with Namjoon and Jin that time.
The Sunday after that, you had both Namjoon and Taehyung with you - because your brother wouldn’t confirm immediately and you needed a backup - as you and Jungwon walked to the park, only to find Jin and Jimin there as well. Everyone, of course, burst out laughing but neither you nor Jungkook found it funny.
“What are we, your chaperones?” Jin had asked then, laughing at the whole situation upon realizing what you and Jungkook had both been up to, calling up friends to join you on the weekly father-and-son dates. “You’re both adults who can very well manage conversations, don’t you think?” Jin continued.
You and Jungkook had shyly stolen glances at each other, nervous to be caught looking at the other’s reaction, because Jin had been right. You can only wonder what Jungkook's reasons are but you were calling them up to accompany you because you don’t actually know how to carry a conversation with Jungkook anymore.
You don’t know what to say that isn’t an apology, you’re nervous to talk about Jungwon and make Jungkook feel bad again for how much he’s missed out on, and you can’t really talk about yourself because this isn’t about you - it’s about your son and the relationship he needs to develop with his father.
Never mind the feeling of longing, of the curiosity over what made Jungkook come home, of the interest in his life in the US and how he’s been doing.
Never mind that you want to hug him because everything has been overwhelming and Jungkook always knew how to make you feel better with his hugs and caresses. You don’t have that right anymore, you think. You don’t have the right to ask about his life after you broke his heart, you don’t have the right to miss him, nor to get to know him all over again.
You need your brother and your best friend not just to carry conversations but also as support when you feel weak, as you observe Jungwon be so natural around his father.
Jungkook had only introduced himself by his name but Jungwon had taken to calling him Cookie Monster since their moment during that first brunch. No uncle, no anything, and you hope it stays that way.
Jungkook had also been bringing different brands of chocolate milk and you’d overheard him describe the taste and texture like a 4 year old would understand, and Jungwon had been asking you to buy each brand that Jungkook had introduced.
You'd heard him ask your son about his favorite animals, what he likes to eat when he’s sad or happy, and what his favorite bedtime stories are. You’d felt your heart balloon in size at this, how careful and thoughtful Jungkook still is, how gentle and caring, and how careful, seeing as he stops himself from ruffling Jungwon’s hair or engulfing him in a hug.
You felt like crying when you’d seen your son answer every question with enthusiasm then ask Jungkook the same things, too, and even more when he finishes coloring and tugs Jungkook to ask if he likes it.
It’s those moments that break and hold you up at the same time. It hurts to be reminded of what you deprived them of but it’s also comforting to see how natural everything has been for them.
Jungwon is shy but gravitates towards those he connects with, that he feels comfortable around, people who are like him. It’s why he’s very fond of Taehyung, and why he runs to Namjoon to be carried on his shoulder or to be tossed in the air because your brother may be serious yet clumsy but he’s careful and gentle when it comes to your son.
You used to think that if you hadn’t been a single parent, Jungwon wouldn’t be as close to you, seeing your lack of gentleness. You’d only learned to be so because you’d treated him like a fragile being, out of the fear of what would’ve happened if the fetal distress wasn’t detected as early as it was. If anything, your son has taught you to be more tender, affectionate, more loving.
You cried so many nights in the room you shared with him, and you wanted to believe that his lack of crying as an infant was because he was giving you the time and space for it, that it was okay. He was quiet, barely caused trouble, and you also believed it was his way of telling you that you can depend on him not to make things too hard, too. You’d held him so tightly every night as he grew older, and he learned to do the same.
In the moments that he'd caught you breaking down because of work or other things, he’d climb on your lap and hug and kiss you until you stopped crying. Like that one time when you randomly went on social media and saw the engagement rumors between Jungkook and Korean-American model-actress Maia Park. It was two years ago. It’s what also convinced you to finally, finally let Jungkook go and move on.
Jungwon hugged you until he fell asleep, and you hugged him even tighter, as the hope of you three being a complete family died that day. Since then, you’d stopped checking social media and stopped religiously following the Dodgers’ games, only using them as background noise since Jungwon somehow found throwing and hitting balls amusing. Like father, like son, you used to think.
You don’t realize you’d reminisced again until your phone beeps, the same time as Jungkook’s does. You’ve been in this restaurant for over 15 minutes and your friends are never late.
“Jimin says that he was asked to stay for costume fitting,” Jungkook says, reading the text message.
“Taehyung says that he tripped on a block and ended up splashing the entire paint can he was holding on his wall and it looks like the shape of a pretty tree and now he’s filled with inspiration and wants to repaint it,” you say in one breath, causing Jungkook to laugh at your deep exhale after.
“Hmm, very original,” he says.
“Very Taehyung, you mean. At least Jimin’s excuse is more believable,” you answer back.
“Well, they pulled the stops tonight, didn’t they? Reminds me of that time when Yoongi treated all of us because his song topped the charts. He said that he actually just had a minimal role and that wasn’t a cause for a celebration,” Jungkook shrugs. “You’d been mad at me for days and I kept complaining so they admitted setting it up so we could see each other.”
“Are you serious? All this time? I was so proud of Yoongi for that, kept bragging to my friends that he was big time because of that song,” you laugh, willing your heart to not go overboard with its beating because the most that Jungkook has spoken to you when he wasn’t angry, it’s to recall a memory of you together.
“Well, they tricked us then but they’re very transparent right now.”
You laugh again and you pinch yourself for overreacting to not-so-funny statements. You hate that even after all this time, Jungkook still makes you feel giddy. Now, there’s just an added desire for him to pay attention, for you to impress him, a complete opposite of how you started years ago.
It’s silent for a while, and you and Jungkook turn to Jungwon at the same time, probably thinking the same thing that the kid will be your distraction but his eyes have been focused on the butterfly, and he’s not budging. Not even when you ask how he’s doing because he just replies with a hum and you know that’s code for don’t disturb me, I’m busy.
“We should order,” Jungkook finally says, and it takes another couple of minutes before you both decide on what you’ll have.
With no other source of distraction, Jungkook settles on making the first move.
“So… how are things? How’s work?” He asks, sipping on his glass of water like it’s the tastiest thing in the world.
“Good. I, uhm, work for an events management company so we do parties, fundraisers, bazaars, things like that. It’s a lot of work but my boss is very kind and lets me take some days off to compensate for working on weekends and stuff,” you respond, willing yourself to be more comfortable.
“Oh, so it’s not the marketing firm anymore, that’s great. Namjoon said you worked over 12 hours then and I can’t imagine how tiring that must be.”
“You talked to my brother… about me?” You ask, trying not to read into it much. You assumed they only talked about meeting Jungwon, but Namjoon never mentioned anything more and you wonder why.
“Yeah, I just, uh…” Jungkook stammers, trying to come up with an excuse but he knows you’ll see right through him.
“I just asked how things were for you during uh, the pregnancy, and after.”
“Why?”
“I just wanted to know if there were any issues with Jungwon’s birth, you know? Wanted to know if he got everything he needed…”
You wince at the insinuation that you wouldn’t make sure that Jungwon would get everything he needed and Jungkook picks up on this and tries to save himself before it’s too late, before you think he’s an asshole for making such an assumption.
“I mean, of course he did. Not that I don’t think you didn’t make sure he got the best of everything.”
“I tried my best, Jungkook, and you’ve spent time with Jungwon. He’s doing well, I’d like to think that has much to do with how I raised him,” you say, your tone a mix of sadness and anger. You never had to defend yourself for how you raised your child, especially not to his father. But you also can’t blame Jungkook, especially when you’re the one who didn’t make him a part of your son’s life.
“I know, he’s such a smart and kind child. I didn’t mean to imply that you didn’t do your best. That came out wrong, I’m sorry,” he says, and you believe him. “I guess I just wanted to ask if there was anything lacking or that needed extra attention so I’d know what to compensate for, like medical bills or vitamins or other things?”
He’s right, and it makes sense. It definitely has nothing to do with him asking how you were doing, how the pregnancy and the aftermath was like for you.
“What about school? Other activities like sports or art clubs? Maybe he’s into music, we can enroll him in—”
“Jungkook…”
“Please don’t tell me not to help financially because you know I will. Not just because I’m obligated to but because I want to,” he sighs.
“Yeah, I guess we need to talk about that…” You say nervously.
“I can cover everything he needs. Does he need to switch to a better school? He’ll be in primary school next year, right? Are there other toys he wants? Maybe I can—“
“I’m doing perfectly fine in providing those, Jungkook. He doesn’t need ‘more’ or ‘better.’”
“I’m not saying you aren’t, I’m just saying I can help so that…”
He holds your gaze, knowing he can’t make you feel like he’s antagonizing you. When he asked Namjoon what you went through, he admits he wanted to feel some form of pity, as if to mask or replace the overwhelming feeling of pain and anger. Anything would’ve been better than those.
After that, the feeling turned to sadness, to helplessness, like defeat, knowing there was nothing he could’ve done to make it easier for you, to make you understand that you didn’t have to do it all by yourself just because you made a decision all on your own.
Having spent even just a short amount of time with Jungwon, he knows that his son was very much loved, was given all the best things in the world and that’s because of you - you who refused to give him less, you who worked so hard and gave everything you could, running on the sheer amount of love you have for your child even if things were difficult. Jungkook doesn’t want you to feel alone, especially in providing for Jungwon.
What Namjoon said hit him, how you only ever asked help if it was about your son, but never when it was about you. Jungkook knows you still wouldn’t, so he’ll make sure to ease the financial burden, the worry, the stress, the amount of time you spend taking care of your child that’s taken away from the time you spend taking care of yourself.
Because he’s noticed - he’s noticed the bags under your eyes, the slight shaking of your hands that’s probably from the excessive amount of caffeine intake, your work phone that constantly buzzes even when you’re off the clock, your consumption of sodas that signifies your heightened stress.
There’s a droopiness to your face, a mark of tiredness that’s laid permanent residence in your whole being. He doesn’t even wanna ask when the last time you had proper rest was.
“I’m saying I can and want to help so you can have time for yourself, too,” he continues. “So you won’t feel the need to clock in extra hours or take extra jobs, so you can have actual time of not worrying about anything. I mean, kids can sense if their parents are stressed and they can acquire that...”
Your eyes widen at his statement again, causing him to pinch the bridge of his nose in frustration because he’s really not saying this the way he wants to, but then he also doesn’t know how to tell you these things without him sounding like he believes you’re not good enough for Jungwon. Because you are, more than he can imagine.
“I’m terrible at this,” Jungkook says.
But you laugh. You laugh because he looks stressed and worried over what he’s telling you but you get him. Mad as he was a few weeks ago, you know he’d never harbor such terrible feelings towards you to the point of doubting your capabilities as a mother.
You wish he means more, though, but you settle for this. He will help in all ways he can because he doesn’t want you to be too stressed out. Jungwon is at the age where he can pick these things up; your habits are things he can acquire and you don’t want that.
“It’s okay, I understand,” you smile, and it’s the softest one you’ve given Jungkook since he’s arrived.
“Jungwon will be starting primary school next year so there’s this kindergarten I saw; they balance the learning with the arts really well and they do a lot of field trips and I think it’s a good transition to first grade.”
“That sounds really good. So that’s where you plan to enroll him this fall?”
“Yeah. It’s private though, and it’s affiliated with the primary school I was hoping to enroll him in next year, that’s also private. I was gonna get a loan from the bank and—”
“I’ll take care of it, don’t worry. I can take care of his fees in kindergarten and daycare too, if you don’t mind.”
“That’s too much, Jungkook.”
“It’s not. You’ve worked too hard the past 5 years. You can take care of the other essentials because you know him best. Let me take care of the others, and vitamins too and check ups and stuff. Please.”
He’s insistent and you know he won’t budge. You also know it’s his right and obligation to do all this.
“Okay, then. Whatever I save can go to his college fund.”
“Which I’ll also be contributing to…”
“Yes, that’s correct,” you smile.
The food arrives and the silence isn’t as suffocating. It’s a first step, deciding on the financial aspect of raising your child. You know there are many others, but there’s definitely one very important one to discuss.
Jungkook clears his throat and peeks at Jungwon who’s busy with his stew, mindless of the others around him, with you constantly wiping his cheeks and reminding him to drink his water. You turn to Jungkook with a curious gaze.
“When can we uh, tell him about me?”
Of course. When will you tell your son that Cookie Monster is actually his father?
“Oh, uhm. Well. He’s definitely comfortable around you already. But I think it’ll take some more time. I don’t wanna rush him because it’s big news since it’s just been me and his uncle Taehyung and uncle Namjoon for a long time and…”
“No one else?”
“What do you mean, no one else? I mean of course there’s Jimin but they don’t see each other as much and…”
“You know what I mean,” he says softly, as if he doesn’t want to directly say it.
“Oh. Uhm. Well, I dated someone before but like, it wasn’t—“
“Did he want to be Jungwon’s father? Did Jungwon like him?”
“I don’t introduce men I go out with to Jungwon, Jungkook. I mean, the men know I have a son but I never introduce them.”
“Why not?”
“Why do you need to ask? It’s only you. It’s always just gonna be you.”
“Has he asked about… me?”
“Just twice. He’s curious but he doesn’t dwell on it.”
Jungkook just nods, taking everything in.
“I always planned on telling you, Jungkook. I hope you know that. I just needed the right time, and I had to figure it out especially after your en…” You pause, hoping not to open this can of worms because things are already going well.
“My what?”
“Your supposed engagement with…”
“Those were rumors, ___. We were never engaged, never planned on it,” he corrects.
“So you two aren’t…?”
“We broke up over a year ago.”
You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding in.
“Relieved?” He smirks.
“Just thought that, you know, Jungwon will have another mother and he’ll call her like, Mommy or Mother or something and she might be more fun and gorgeous and—“
“Hey,” Jungkook interrupts your rambling. He chooses not to comment on your now glassy eyes, which stare at his hand that’s found itself on top of yours. He immediately removes it and calls for you to look at him.
“That’s not happening, okay? And if I did marry someone else, that woman will just be a stepmother by name. You’re Jungwon’s mother, the only one. No one will be more fun and gorgeous in his eyes, you got that?”
“Yeah,” you mumble. “Thank you.”
You decide to dial it back before your thoughts go elsewhere. “But going back to your question, let’s play it by ear, is that okay? He’s very attentive so he’ll maybe ask more about you one day. I also don’t want to rush him.”
“Sure, I mean. I don’t wanna scare him away too. We’ve been making progress.”
“I know! He’s very natural around you.”
“Doesn’t mind me when he’s coloring or eating, though,” Jungkook pouts.
“You’re not alone in that,” you laugh. “This one time, he was coloring this picture of a unicorn and I was trying to get his attention because it had been a long day and I wanted a hug and he shushed me and told me to be quiet. Like, this little kid really shushed me, huh?”
“Is he really as sweet as we believe him to be?” Jungkook laughs.
“Actually, when he was finished, he went to my lap and hugged and kissed me, told me not to be sad anymore.”
“Okay I’ll never doubt him again,” he smiles.
“And then there was one time, I baked muffins and I asked him to try so he was nibbling the edges, then the crown. And he was taking his time! And I kept asking if it was good and he was just humming until there was just the center left that had some chocolate custard and he ate it in one bite and was just smiling at me then…”
You pause at Jungkook’s longing smile, the kind where he’s happy but also wishes he’d been there.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t…”
“No, no. Please. I wanna hear these stories. Don’t hold back. Don’t mind how I react,” Jungkook explains. “At least I won’t have to imagine how he was like growing up.”
Your heart warms at this, at the shift from the angry man the other week to one who’s now softening at the stories of your son, something that’s making you feel a hundred times better.
Jungkook meant it when he said that he just wants to focus on what happens next. He’s spent so many sleepless nights thinking about the night of the break up, what went wrong, how different things would be, all the what if’s in your relationship, and in his relationship with his son.
He has let himself feel all the negative emotions towards you and he didn’t like it, didn’t like that he could feel all that for the woman who’d been his world, his light, the love of his life. He doesn’t want to focus anymore on the time lost but on the time he can make up for, for the time that he now has.
You indulge him, tell him stories about Jungwon, how he was a little late with talking and used to write letters from right to left, how you worried about this but how it was easily addressed, being that Ara is a developmental pediatrician and had taught you different practices to ensure his speech and cognitive skills are in tune with his developmental stage.
You talk about his first steps, his first trip to the park, and how he’s afraid of the water - just like his mother, Jungkook says. You talk about how he likes fish so much so he doesn’t eat them, but that he loves vegetables and would only throw tantrums if he doesn’t get to eat sweets.
And you talk about how respectful he is, charming in his own shy and soft ways but a fighter all the same, how he’s very smart and can do many things on his own.
“He really took the best parts of us, don’t you think?” Jungkook says, as he looks at Jungwon who’s coloring a ladybug this time. “Strong and independent like you, charming and cute like me?”
You burst into laughter. “You think those are your best qualities?” You ask.
“I mean there’s more and I could definitely list them all now but also, look at him! He’s so adorable, and he got that from me!”
“He is, and he did get that from you, I won’t lie,” you say, something that you always thought about, how the universe was cruel and wonderful at the same time for gifting you a child who looks just like the man you loved with all your heart, who reminded you everyday of what you lost and of, ironically, what you still had.
“He has your lips, though, and those scrunched eyebrows when he’s focused,” he points out, and he says it with so much affection. “I’m sure there’s more he got from you and I can't wait to discover them all.”
“Me, too, Jungkook. Me too,” you say, ignoring the thrumming of your heart.
It’s Jungwon’s yawn that forces you and Jungkook out of your bubble again, not realizing the time that’s passed. You’re glad you had an early clock out today so at least it’s not yet too late and the little one can make it to bed on time.
The dinner ends and Jungkook walks you and a sleepy Jungwon to your car, the silence a welcome one this time.
“So, I have a busy rest of the week so uhm, can we meet on Saturday? There’s a park with this cool playground near my apartment; I think Jungwon will like it there. We can have lunch after,” Jungkook says as you close the backseat door.
“Of course! Just text me the address and the time and we’ll be there,” you respond, liking this new dynamic between the both of you, texting each other on when and where to meet, freed up schedules and all.
You both stand there awkwardly though, unsure how exactly to end the night, given that your friends had ditched you both. Your phones beeping saves you this time.
“How was it?” You and Jungkook say at the same time.
“They’re not even being subtle about it,” he laughs.
“I bet they’re actually together right now, thinking of the best time to message,” you say.
“Probably not expecting we’d go on this long, too,” he mumbles, peering up to look at you with that shy smile of his, and you hope there’s no physical manifestation of how flushed you are right now.
“It was a good night. Thank you, Jungkook.”
“Thanks, too. So, uh, I’ll go ahead,” he says, then nods and turns away. It was a good night, and it was the first time that he felt comfortable, light. Like things were okay, like things are really going to get better.
His mind goes back to weeks ago at your apartment - how he acted, the anger seeping through him, and how you looked - tears falling helplessly down your cheeks, a sight he’s never seen before, and one he doesn’t want to see again. He couldn’t hold you then, he didn’t have the mind nor the heart to. He’s not sure if he’s ready now, so he settles with words instead.
“___,” he calls out.
You turn around, not really expecting anything else, and for a moment, your heart stops beating.
He walks towards you with a shy look on his face, although his eyes avoid yours.
“I just, uh. I just wanted to apologize for that day at your apartment when I—“
“Jungkook, you don’t have to—“
“Just let me, please,” he interjects you this time, his voice soft, and a long breath escapes him. “I’m sorry.”
“I won’t accept it. You shouldn’t be sorry for the things you said because they’re what you felt. They’re warranted and—“
“Then I’m sorry for how I said them. That’s, that’s not who I am. You didn’t deserve that,” he stammers.
“I did,” you respond, and there’s a pang in his chest at your resigned tone. “And it’s okay. I would’ve reacted the same way.”
“I know I’ll never truly understand why, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t appreciate everything you’ve done for him.”
“He might’ve been unplanned but it doesn’t mean he’s a mistake. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me,” you say, meeting his eyes.
It’s a moment you share that needs no words, and Jungkook nods and leaves it at that because deep in his heart, he knows that Jungwon is the best thing that’s ever happened to him, too.
“Text me when you get home, okay?” He says.
You mumble an okay and head out, forcing yourself to stop smiling like an idiot the whole drive back home.
[To: Jungkook] We’re home. Thank you again.
[From: Jungkook] Alright! I had a really good time tonight. Sleep well, you two. Good night :)
And with that, you don’t stop smiling like an idiot until you fall asleep.
**
You trip over trains and dolls on the floor, hastily putting them in the box that houses most of Jungwon’s toys. You place all the laundry in the washing machine, quickly fix your bed, and remove the clutter on the coffee table.
By some not-so-great turn of events, you had a client schedule a 2PM meeting on a Saturday that you couldn’t turn down, which meant that you then had to meet your team at 11AM to prepare.
You’re glad that Jungkook didn’t make a fuss about it when you called him in the morning, saying that you can’t make it to the park like you agreed to do. You trust him dearly but it’s still too early in the getting-to-know-you stage, so you’re not sure how Jungwon will take it if he spends the day with Jungkook without you. You expected him to reschedule but said his Sunday is full and asked if he could just go to your place instead.
“He and I can just play or watch cartoons, is that okay? I was really hoping to spend today with him but if it’s too much, that’s fine,” Jungkook said over the phone.
You didn’t have the heart to turn him down so you agreed.
You tried to do whatever cleaning up you can manage because you didn’t want him to judge you for still being a little messy and you wanted everything organized while you focused on your meetings.
With Jungwon bathed and with snacks placed on the table, you think you’re ready for your guest, who should be arriving right about now.
The doorbell rings and it’s a familiar sight, but a welcome one. You lead Jungkook in, tell him it’s just a humble one-bedroom apartment and he waves you off. He settles the lunch he bought on the table - noodles and seafood pancakes, Jungwon’s favorites, you'd mentioned.
“He’s in the room, I’ll go get him,” you say, and walk the several steps to your bedroom.
Jungkook looks around and takes it in. He was too angry the last time he was here so he didn’t pay much attention. It’s pretty clean, he thinks, and laughs at the thought that you probably did a quick clean up before he arrived since you’re not usually this organized. Or maybe that’s changed with you too, as with other things.
“Hey, buddy,” Jungkook greets. He kneels and tells Jungwon that they’ll be spending time today while Mama works and Jungwon says he’s excited. He leads Jungkook to your not-so-grand living room and takes out some dinosaurs from one box, mumbling about them being in trouble, then opens another one.
“Then Ironman saves them all!” Jungwon announces.
The look on Jungkook’s face is unrivaled, the kind you secretly have been hoping for, hence why you deliberately kept this from him; you wanted Jungwon to be the one to reveal his undying love for the superhero. You’re surprised he’s never mentioned it before, but you also think that he wanted to show-off his toy collection first.
“You’ve been holding out on me!” Jungkook tells you. “He… We… We both believe in Ironman supremacy, ___. He’s really my—”
You nudge his shoulder before he prematurely reveals the truth, and you laugh at his expression and his wide eyes as he goes through the Ironman box because of course it has its own, as all the toys are delicately placed inside.
Jungkook is in awe but really, it’s not much. They’re all just different versions of the same dolls and cars. You’ve tried to limit this because Jungwon will outgrow them at one point, but thinking about Jungkook’s continued love for the superhero, you think Jungwon actually might not.
The two get in their groove immediately and sit side-by-side, Jungwon introducing each of his toys because each Ironman has a different name. Jungkook indulges him and starts making sounds and Jungwon joins him until it’s just a chorus of pppshssss and bangbangbang and pfffffftpboom and you can’t help but laugh along.
Taehyung always deemed those superhero movies to be too loud so he wasn’t into the toys either, and Namjoon would always end up explaining the science and ethics of superpowers as if his nephew is one of his college students, so for Jungwon to have someone who just gets him, even if it’s just about making sounds and making Ironman toys fly and protect the dinosaurs from a meteor, you’re happy that the little one is happy.
You leave them for a while and set the table, asking them over to eat with neither one standing up.
“Kids,” you call their attention, hands on your waist now. “Can we have lunch now please before Mama has to get ready for work?”
This feels so domestic and so real. You miss the way Jungkook’s lips form into a smile as you refer to yourself in third person and sound as if you’re reprimanding them. Since Jungkook has found out about Jungwon, he never imagined he’d actually get to experience this.
You clear your throat and it’s a sign for Jungkook that he has to follow, as the adult, so he gets the little one’s attention and brings all the toys on the table to join you three as you eat.
It’s hilarious as they both converse with their toys and essentially leave you out but you let them, choosing instead to bask in this scene and the joy painted on both their faces. You wish this moment together wouldn’t end, though, but you also know that may be too much to ask. Jungkook is here to get to know your son, and that’s that.
You let them settle in the living room as you go from one meeting to another, stealing glances every once in a while just so you’ll have another memory of them bonding seared in your brain, for times when you need to feel better, when you want to feel happy.
The rest of the afternoon goes that way. They go from saving the dinosaurs, to watching cartoons, then playing with blocks, earning them scowls and laughter every time those tip over and crash, creating loud sounds and distracting your work. But you smile immediately at their panicked and guilty faces, until they proceed to do the same thing.
It’s around 5PM when you finish, exhaustion creeping up on you. Jungwon surprisingly still has energy, but you see him forcing it because he wants to keep playing.
“Let’s go for an early dinner, yeah? I can order some pizza then you two can start preparing for bed,” Jungkook offers.
You mindlessly nod from the dining table as you put away your laptop and notebook. “That sounds good, Jungkook. Thank you,” you respond.
“And maybe you can take a nap first while we wait. I’ll help him clean up the mess, too.”
You smile at this. Despite everything, he’s still the same thoughtful and considerate man you met all those years ago. You nod and head to them, kneeling in front of Jungwon who’s now sitting so closely to Jungkook.
“Hey, sweetcheeks. Mama’s tired so I’ll just get some rest, okay? You’ll be fine with Cookie Monster over here?” You ask.
“Yes, Mama,” he says, and proceeds to hug you and kiss your nose.
“Okay, love you my little bug,” you say, and head to your room for a quick nap, not before you call out that Jungwon only eats cheese pizza.
**
It’s the knock on your bedroom door that wakes you, signaling that the food has arrived.
You head to the dining room, still clad in your leggings and pink sweatshirt, and Jungkook does a double take at your sleepy eyes, scrunched up nose, and messy hair. You’re still so adorable after a nap, but he shakes off the thought before you catch him with a silly smile on his face.
It’s Jungwon’s elephant and tiger stuffed toys having dinner with you this time, and unlike earlier in the day, there’s less theatrics and you all settle on small conversations, definitely tired but satisfied.
Jungwon is busy munching on the cheese and the soft parts of the dough, Jungkook is watching him in amusement, and you’re watching Jungkook in awe, thinking of how he pulled through today, coming over to make sure that he got to spend it with his son, taking care of everything like the food and cleaning up because you were too busy and too tired to do so, even if you know he’s had a tiring week too.
You never doubted his desire to get to know Jungwon but his patience and attention to everything have really surprised you. He listens carefully to the little one, asks what he thinks and feels, lets him lead and decide games and shows to watch, and talks to him like an adult. You wonder if he’d asked Taehyung or Namjoon for tips or he’d done some reading. But regardless, you appreciate it so much. You might not have had the start you wanted but it’s definitely going the way you want it to.
And as Jungkook giggles and wipes the cheese off Jungwon’s face, as he fills his glass with water and asks if he wants more, you see the affection on Jungkook’s whole being, you see the care and the warmth. You see the love.
It’s familiar; it’s similar to how he used to look at you. And it’s this moment that you wish that he learns to look at you that way again.
