As a follow up to my previous post, I present the Jaguar main battle tank! This was a joint collaboration between the American Cadillac Gage and Chinese China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation companies to upgrade Type 59s. Work began in 1988, the idea being that even though there were superior tanks in service, for the many Asian and African nations who operated Type 59s, the Jaguar would be an option to upgrade their fleet without having to buy entirely new tanks. Not only this, but it was much cheaper than tanks like the M1 Abrams or Leopard 2.
Besides improved armor protection and a 105mm M68 cannon, the Jaguar most importantly improved its mobility, with a 750 hp Detroit Diesel engine, coupled with a fully automatic Allison transmission, improving the tank's power-to-weight ratio. Since the base for the tank was already in wide use, development was a rather quick process, with China sending two Type 59s to Cadillac Gage in 1989, with a fully completed prototype by mid-1989 built in Detroit. Unfortunately, the program fell through due to the Chinese government's response to the Tiananmen Square Protests. Cadillac Gage continued to test the prototype through November of 1989, but with the Cold War ending and military procurement winding down for much of the world, the Jaguar never saw any interest.

While it fell into obscurity for some years, in 2021 a remaining prototype at a Textron facility in Louisiana was found, unfortunately worse for wear.

Jaguar XJR-S V12 ("timber!").
When the Jaguar XJR-S was launched in August 1988, Jaguar was riding the crest of a reputational wave, having just claimed its 6th Le Mans victory and, in 1987, won the World Sportscar Championship. It was a genuinely bespoke model produced by Jaguar Sport - a high-performance wing jointly owned by Jaguar and the Tom Walkinshaw Racing Group. Initially powered by a 5.3-litre V12, the engine was upgraded in 1989 to a bespoke 6.0-litre unit with Zytek fuel injection. It was good for 334 bhp and 160 mph.Boasting a new forged steel crankshaft, forged alloy pistons, modified air intake and a dual exhaust system, the engine was unique to the XJR-S and was only phased out once Jaguar introduced its own 6.0-litre V12.The XJR-S proved to be an immediate winner with contemporary journalists. In a Motor Sport magazine group test, the Jaguar handed out a humiliating spanking to a Porsche 928 GT, a BMW 850i and a Ferrari Mondial T – no mean feat. While the XJR-S may have looked pretty much like a standard Jaguar XJR coupé, virtually every mechanical part was unique. Each car left the factory as a hand-built unit from Jaguar Sport’s manufacturing facility at Bloxham, which had attained legendary status as the skunk-works unit that built the seminal XJ220.

Biola: Monster Genesis: Jet Jaguar
T-Unit RD-A10N3 is a prototype for robots meant for more dangerous work in the Typhon Organization (the purpose of creating essentially-homunculi for preventing unnecessary human sacrifice is what gave these androids their name⏤T being short for Project Tezcatlipoca, named after the Aztec god of sorcery associated with human sacrifice). Specifically, RD-A10N3 is a model for medical T-units meant for search and rescue operations and other methods of aiding those caught in dangerous situations, hence the red cross he initially bore on his chest. In addition, for comfort in holding patients in his arms and lap, RD-A10N3 has arms and legs comprised of soft robotics, although metal is used for his feet and within his legs ("bones", in a sense) for futher support. He also has an OLED display as a “face” for looking more endearing without straying into uncanny valley territory
As a test run of the model and the AI running it, this robot was given to Genichiro Kinokami by Goro Ibuki, a close partner of Genichiro and head developer of Project Tezcatlipoca, as an assistant, guardian, and companion of his photosynthetic daughter, Erika. Being a very young child, about two at the time, Erika didn't do the best job of saying the name "Tezcatlipoca" when told about it, but that flubbed word was what gave this robot the name he would be referred to from then onwards: Jet Jaguar. From then on, the two would be inseparable, basically being siblings. This was further compounded by Jet's growth, with his AI learning and changing to where he was kinda sorta human himself (think like Glamrock Freddy). But his true spark of humanity was soon to come...
After being mortally wounded by the Meganula and saved from certain death by the Rodan, Jet arrived and carried Erika to safety, reassuring her that she'd be okay and that he was here⏤as he went on, he even started saying "I'm here" instead of "I am here"... he'd never used contractions before... At the medical sector in Typhon's Odo Island facility, he silently followed the group with Erika, but while she was unconscious in her room, Jet was in a powered off or "sleep mode" state, sat down on the side of the room, and the OLED screen on his face being nothing but black. A bit after Erika woke up, however, Jet bolted toward her in an embrace with something... different about him. His facial display was far more expressive than it had been before, and he was much more emotional-sounding in when saying how worried he was. Jet Jaguar, it seemed, had gained sentience from the experience of his lifelong companion possibly dying. He had essentially gained humanity.
From then on, the bond between the two would continue and even be closer and more sibling-like with Jet's newfound "soul", as he would even ground and comfort Erika following her GNA-induced growth spurt and calling for aid beforehand, explicitly asking for military weaponry not to be brought against this innocent (though maser tanks and other military vehicles would be brought when Erika was being taken back to the facility due to another kaiju being detected in the vicinity⏤that being Godzilla). Later on, to express himself and display himself as a unique individual, Jet would even give himself a new paintjob he designed himself, inspired by the heroes of Tokusatsu series like Zone Fighter and Ultraman.

First flight of the British FCAS demonstrator should take place by 2027
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 07/18/2022 - 6:23 PM in Farnborough, Military
The UK Ministry of Defense plans to fly the first demonstrator of its Future Air Combat System (FCAS) in the next five years.
The timeline was revealed at the Farnborough air show, as the future combat air program launches a new recruitment and skills initiative known as Generation Tempest.
The demonstration aircraft is already under development between the government and industry partners Team Tempest and the United Kingdom is actively progressing in project collaboration opportunities with Italian industry partners, the Ministry of Defense said.
The flight demonstrator will be a supersonic aircraft piloted testing a number of new technologies, including the integration of stealth-compatible features. This is the first time that the United Kingdom has developed a new fast aircraft using 21st century technology.
Tumblr media
The development of the demonstrator is underway at BAE Systems' facilities near Preston, in northern England. Designing and building the flying demonstrator will prove integration and testing skills. It will also provide invaluable data and lessons for the UK industry to support the introduction of a new FCAS aircraft from 2035.
Separately, the United Kingdom is now conducting a joint concept analysis with Japan and Italy partners to understand areas of shared interest and explore possible future combat air partnership options and continues to explore broader partnerships.
Decisions on potential international cooperation in the FCAS program should be made by the end of 2022, the Ministry of Defense added. Like the United Kingdom, both Japan and Italy operate F-35 fighters and nations have conducted joint exercises in the past.
"I am very pleased that the United Kingdom, along with Italy, Japan and Sweden are working together on the same combat air journey," said UK Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace. “Our work with Japan and Italy on cutting-edge technologies like this shows the benefit of our alliances around the world.”
Tumblr media
The partners of Team Tempest, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Leonardo UK and MBDA UK, intend to hire another 1,300 beginners at the beginning of their career by the end of 2023.
"FCAS is an exciting, dynamic and inclusive program that needs a diversity of people, ideas and skills working together. We are recruiting new talents who will lead the FCAS, delivering one of the most important defense programs in the world," said Future Combat Air System UK director Richard Berthon.
The Tempest team is already presenting the technological advances achieved in the program at the Farnborough Airshow this week.
Rolls-Royce Defense delivered a new gas turbine demonstration engine, known as Orpheus, designed, built and tested in less than two years to prove innovative technological developments for the FCAS. Working with international partners, the company also agreed to the next step of the large-scale engine demonstration program.
Tumblr media
BAE Systems used digital transformation to design and build a representative military rapid jet fuselage, demonstrating how innovative technologies can transform Tempest's design and manufacturing capacity. Commercial robots were adapted and used, and 65% of the pieces were guided to the site using automation.
Leonardo UK and Japanese Mitsubishi Electric agreed on the concept of a radar technology demonstrator called JAGUAR, first presented in February, after the completion of the joint concept work and feasibility studies earlier this year.
Leonardo also revealed the ongoing bilateral work to support future electronics on board the FCAS program.
Tumblr media
Leonardo in the United Kingdom and Italy are working together on several projects with Elettronica in Italy, including joint evaluation of the potential architecture of an Integrated System of Sensing and Non-Kinetic Effects (ISANKE) and common Integrated Communications. The work is complementary to the continuous collaboration with Japan on 6th generation sensor capabilities, an area in which Italy will soon be involved.
The MBDA revealed its concept for a weapon effects management system, to assist in the coordination of all weapons available in the battlespace using artificial intelligence and improved machine learning software.

Panthera Felidae et Celeritas
Barry Allen x Meta!Reader One-Shot
Word Count: 2K Warnings: Explicit Language
Author's Note: Gonna make a second part...sometime...later...Enjoy! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
The meta-human was fast. And while he wasn’t as fast as Barry, he’d managed to snap the speedster’s femur with a well-placed kick. Barry went down, holding his leg whilst he grit his teeth and shoved his bone back into place so it’d heal; Hal landed beside him, ready to pick up the slack and protect his best friend.
Striding towards them, the meta had a sick grin on his face as he ribbed, “I’m going to use your spine as a toothpick, Lantern.”
“I’d like to see you try,” Hal shot back, baring his teeth as he raised his arm, ready to form a construct when a hulking figure of orange, black, and white fur darted from around the corner of a building, sprinting right up to the meta.
It reared onto its hind legs, one big front paw swiping down harshly at the meta, connecting to the middle of its back, and both Hal and Barry watched the man’s eyes widen in first a look of shock, the next of pain as a sickening crack sent the meta to the ground, upper body spazzing as their lower body stilled.
“I can’t feel my back!” he screamed in agony and the beast bent down, its face next to the man’s and opened its mouth, snarling fiercely, flashing long, razor sharp canines. The meta whimpered, squeezing his eyes shut and the beast took one last look at him before turning its golden eyes onto Barry and Hal.
They stared back with equal mixtures of fear, but the beast chuffed and turned tail, bounding away as quickly as it had come.
“What the fuck just happened?” Hal asked.
Barry shook his head, blue eyes wide as he said, “I have no idea…but I think there’s a tiger loose in Central City.”
***
There were big cat sightings all over Central City—cheetahs, cougars, jaguars, leopards, snow leopards, ligers, lions, tigers; someone even said they saw a saber tooth tiger, which Barry highly doubted, but sure enough when he’d gotten to the scene and tested the DNA, it linked to a few scientific discoveries and genomes closely relating to the extinct beast.
He’d half a mind to bring the League in on the discoveries, but the animals weren’t killing people, and he was still reeling on how to explain to his team that there were animals running around that weren’t even native to the US, nor having populations in the state. Oddly enough though, the animals were never seen in the same place at the same time. Each sighting was on a different night with a different big cat, telling Barry that this had to be some type of trainer releasing the cats on particular times.
He spent almost an hour, well a human hour, not a speedster hour, triangulating territory across Central City before he finally found a common location inside the sightings—an old amusement park that had been shut down a few years before, waiting on renovations when someone would finally buy it.
So, what did Barry do? What Barry did best—he went alone to see which kitty cat he could find first.
***
The entire park was eerie, dark and creaking, rusted metal and cracked plastic everywhere. It almost made him think of those post-apocalyptic video games. Still though, he quelled his fears, though they boiled in his stomach, and hopped over the barriers, quietly walking the silent park.
Every noise had the hair on the back of his neck rising, turning in circles to look behind him at whatever it was, and at one point, he briefly considered calling for Superman—nothing gave you nerves of steel like the Man of Steel.
Shaking his head, he reaffirmed his own abilities. He could do this. He was fast enough to escape danger, he just had to sense it coming.
The sound of nails on metal echoed in Barry’s ears and he shivered, peeking around the corner of an abandoned booth to see a sleek black jaguar scratching at a metal door until it shoved open, and it slipped inside.
His brows furrowed and he looked around before quickly following it, slipping inside the doorway. It led down a further hall and into a tunnel, and with the large metal pistons and wheels in the walls, he assumed it was the underneath of an out of order roller coaster.
Glancing down, he saw paw prints in the dusty ground that obviously hadn’t been disturbed in a couple decades. Barry frowned and continued down the hallway, coming around a corner.
The second he turned it, he ran smack dab into something, and he gasped, immediately shoving out. Whatever had run into him went to the ground with a pained grunt and he blinked in the darkness, looking down, surprise bleeding through him as a woman’s face cleared in the darkness.
Barry had so many thoughts running through his head, but their safety overrode it and he bent down, hauling her up as he whispered harshly, “Never mind what you’re doing here, we have to leave now.”
“What?” she hissed back, letting him tug her down the hallway. “Who are you!”
“My name is Barry. I work at CCPD.” He glanced back at her, well, over her shoulder. “There’s a big cat somewhere down here and we need to get away. If my calculations are right, there are more around.”
“Wait, you know?” she questioned, feet skidding to a halt and Barry looked back at her.
“What do you mean? That the big cats are hiding around here?” she nodded, and he tipped his head. “Yeah. I figured it out with the police scans and public sightings.”
Her jaw started to go slack, and he tugged her again. “C’mon, we have to get out of here before that panther comes back.”
“It’s a jaguar.”
He stopped. “What?”
She pulled her wrist out of his grip. “It’s a black jaguar not a panther.”
Barry cocked a brow. “How do you know?”
“I…” she seemed hesitant, diverting her gaze. “I can’t tell you right now.” She hurried past him. “But you don’t have to worry. There are no cats here.”
“But my calculations—”
“Are wrong, Blake. There are no cats here.”
“It’s Barry,” he retorted. “Barry.”
“Whatever your name is,” she scowled, pushing the door open so they could both get out.
As they did, he pulled out his phone and shone the flashlight upwards so he could see her features. “Who are you?”
She blinked. “It’s not important.”
“It is. If you know about the big cats roaming the city and hurting people, then I need to know.”
Her face pinched. “They’re not hurting people. They’re helping.”
Barry recalled the meta-human incident—the meta’s spine had been broken in one swipe of that tiger’s paw. “Breaking spines and other important body parts isn’t helping people.”
“It’s not like I’m eating the criminals!” she shouted, then slapped her hands over her mouth, eyes wide and Barry gaped at her.
“What did you just say?”
She shook her head. “Nothing! I didn’t say anything!”
“No, you said something alright. It sounded like you said you weren’t eating the criminals.” He leaned closer. “Who are you and what do you know about the cats?”
For a moment, she merely gazed at him, then she let out a heavy sigh, shoulders drooping as she resigned herself. “Alright…I’ll talk.” She exhaled. “My name is (Y/N) (L/N). I’m a part-timer at the STAR Labs research facility. A few months ago…I was helping one of the scientists identify a common DNA strand found in the Panthera family and how it would react if spliced together in a new animal when—”
She trailed off, unsure of herself and Barry encouraged, “When?”
(Y/N) sighed again. “I don’t know. There was a mistake with the experiment. Some kind of electromagnetic shock that caused an entire building outage.”
“What else?” he questioned, and she shrugged.
“When we went inside after the power was back on, the test subject was deceased. Doctor Lesia asked me to clean up and I did, but I must’ve gotten contaminated somehow. Maybe through an open wound? I don’t know.”
She inhaled, meeting Barry’s blue eyes. “The DNA sequencing experiment didn’t fail though.”
“Why do you say that?” he asked curiously and she looked towards the door.
“Give me a moment.” As she walked back inside, she quickly stuck her head out and said, “Don’t be alarmed and don’t run, okay?”
He was wary of that and after a few moments, he heard scratching at the door and the door handle bent down, then the door pulled open, and the black jaguar bounded out.
Barry was quick to step back with a sharp, “Shit!” but the cat didn’t do anything, it merely sat down and looked at him; he took a closer look, eyes widening and he breathed, “Oh my God…it resequenced your DNA.”
She nodded, making a low growling noise, then disappeared back inside, only to reappear herself once more. “I’ve been able to transform into any cat whose DNA sequence belongs to the Panthera family.” (Y/N) shook her head. “I have to transform at least once a day, or it’ll happen without my control, and I can’t risk it happening at my job or out in public. So, I come here and transform, then run around Central City.”
“And fight crime,” he surmised, and she tipped her head side to side.
“It didn’t start out like that, honest. I realized I had all this energy pent up and running and scouring seemed to get it out.” (Y/N) blinked. “The first time I ever fought ‘crime’ was when I stopped a meta human from attacking Flash and Green Lantern.”
Barry stared at her. “You broke the meta-human’s spine.”
She winced. “I…didn’t realize I’d hit him with that much strength…but it was that or risk him hurting another hero and I didn’t want that to happen.” (Y/N) looked at him. “Please…please don’t tell anybody you know this. I’ll stop, just please don’t tell anyone. If you do, who knows what government science squad will come after me and kidnap me.”
Her face was the picture of pure terror and she reached out, grabbing Barry’s jacket, tears welling in her eyes as she begged again, “Please Barry, don’t tell anyone.”
Barry took her hands, squeezing them gently. “I won’t. I promise.”
She blinked tearfully and asked, “You won’t?”
“No, I won’t tell.” He smiled at her and fiddled with the ring on his hand, showing her the lightning symbol on it. “Not after I owe you for saving me and Green Lantern.”
(Y/N) eyes widened, and she gaped at the ring, then at his face. “You—you’re him…the Flash.”
He nodded. “Yeah.” Barry sighed, looking around, seeing the moon high in the sky. “Look, it’s late right now. Why don’t we both go home for the night and meet up sometime later?”
“To do what?” she questioned, and he met her eyes.
“Well, I doubt we’ll be able to undo the resequencing of your DNA. There’s no telling how damaging it could be to you if we try.” He thought for a moment, then decided, “So how about this, we meet up, and we’ll see about training you.”
(Y/N)’s face pinched. “But I’m not a speedster?”
“True, but technically you’re like me. You’re a meta-human now.” Barry smiled, wide and toothy. “And if there’s one thing I know how to do—it’s help meta-humans control their powers.”
She searched his gaze for a few moments, then she nodded. “Alright…that seems like a fair plan.” (Y/N) held out her hand and Barry took it, shaking it firmly. “Glad to be apart of the team, Flash.”
“Glad to have you, er…” his brows furrowed. “Do you have a name yet?”
(Y/N) pursed her lips in thought, then her face lit up and she replied, “Panthera.” Barry snorted and she flushed. “I know…I’m a nerd.”
He shook his head. “So am I.”

Flightline: 70 - McDonnell Douglas/BAe AV-8B Harrier II
The AV-8A was operated by the USMC beginning in 1971, but the Marines quickly found that the Harrier was less powerful than hoped, only capable (with a standar takeoff, no less) of carrying a smaller payload than an A-4 over a shorter range. In 1973, a joint US/UK team began work on a project to develop a new Harrier, powered by a redesigned Pegasus 15 engine. This aircraft, dubbed the AV-16, would have double the AV-8A’s range and payload, and would replace the Harrier GR.1/3 in RAF service and the AV-8A and A-4 Skyhawk in USMC roles. The UK pulled out of the project in 1975, owing to rising costs and decreased defense spending, and the US, unwilling to foot the costs alone, canceled the program. McDonnell Douglas and Hawker Siddeley continued work on upgrading the Harrier, and in 1976 began modifying two AV-8As with new wings, revised intakes and nozzles, and other aerodynamic changes. These mules were designated YAV-8B.

The results showed greater than expected drag, but positive test results in other areas, including payload, range, and V/STOL performance, led to the award of a development contract in 1979. In 1981 BAe (formed by the nationalization and merger of British Aircraft Corporation, Hawker Siddeley Aviation, Hawker Siddeley Dynamics and Scottish Aviation) rejoined the program in 1981, enticed by the more affordable path McDonnell Douglas was forging. The MoU stipulated a 60/40 split between the US and UK companies, with airframe production taking place at McDonnell Douglas’ facilities in suburban St. Louis, Missouri, and BAe’s Kingston and Dunsfold facilities, and engine production split 75/25 between Rolls-Royce (which had previously absorbed Bristol Siddeley) and P&W.

The AV-8B Harrier II was extensively redesigned from the AV-8A, with the forward fuselage extended and the cockpit raised by ten inches, providing better pilot visibility. To compensate for these changes, the rear fuselage was lengthened by a foot and a half, and a taller tail, based on that used on the Sea Harrier, was fitted. The biggest change was the new supercritical wing, which was larger than the one used on previous models (the outriggers on the AV-8B are in the same place as on the AV-8A/GR.1/3, giving a sense of scale), and had a higher aspect ratio and decreased sweep. The new wing also had leading edge extensions, all of which grants the Harrier II a 6,700lb increase in payload with a 1,000' takeoff roll. The AV-8B was the first combat aircraft to feature carbon fiber composites in its construction, with the wing and forward fuselage being almost exclusively carbon/epoxy construction, leading to the Harrier II being almost five hundred pounds lighter than if it had been constructed from metals alone.

The AV-8B completed operational evaluation (OPEVAL) in 1985, and entered service with the USMC starting with USMC squadron VMA-331 (“Bumblebees”). In 1990 Marine Harrier IIs were deployed to the Persian Gulf on the amphibious assault ships USS Nassau and Tarawa as part of Operation DESERT SHIELD, flying training and support sorties. Despite plans to hold the AV-8B in reserve during the initial phases of DESERT STORM, Harriers were pressed into service on 17 January in response to a call for close air support from an USMC OV-10 Bronco against Iraqi artillery positions. The next day, AV-8s began strike missions against Iraqi targets in southern Kuwait. During Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM, 86 AV-8Bs amassed 3,380 flights and about 4,100 flight hours, with a mission availability rate of over 90 percent. Five AV-8Bs were lost to enemy surface-to-air missiles, and two USMC pilots were killed. After the end of the war, Norman Schwarzkopf included the AV-8 along with the F-117 and AH-64 in his list of weapons that played crucial roles in the campaign. Marine Harriers remained in the Gulf region during Operation SOUTHERN WATCH from 1992 to 2003, operating from ‘phibs in the Gulf and from forward operating bases such as Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait. Marine Corps Harrier IIs were later flown during Operation ALLIED FORCE over Yugoslavia, ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan, and the 2003 Iraq war.

Two major variants of the AV-8B were produced: the Night Attack Harrier and the Harrier II Plus. First fielded in 1991, the Night Attack Harrier featured a FLIR camera on the nose cone, a wide-angle HUD, provisions for NVGs and a digital moving map. The Night Attack Harriers are powered by a Pegasus 11-61 (aka the F402-RR-408), which produce 23,000lbf of thrust. The Harrier II+ is also powered by the -408, and is fitted with a APG-65 multi-mode pulse-Doppler radar, taken from early model F/A-18s during their own upgrades to APG-73 radar. This allowed Harrier II+ to carry AIM-120 AMRAAM, as well as AGM-65 Maverick and AGM-84 Harpoon missiles, though the angle-rate bombing system was removed. Upgraded AV-8Bs are also capable of carrying a LITENING targeting pod, allowing the employment of PGMs.

The Italian Navy ordered two TAV-8B trainers, followed by a further order of 16 AV-8B+ to operated from the carriers Andrea Doria and Giuseppe Garibaldi. Italian Harriers were part of the nation’s commitment to the NATO campaign over Kosovo, dropping conventional and LGBs. An additional 7 aircraft were ordered in the early 200s to serve on the new carrier Cavour, with existing aircraft also upgraded to carry AIM-120s and JDAM guided bombs. Italy has ordered a force of 15 F-35B Lightning IIs to replace its Harriers.

Already an operator of AV-8A Matadors, the Spanish Navy was the first international operator of the AV-8B Harrier II, ordering 12 of its own variants, known as the VA-2 Matador II. The Matadors operated from Príncipe de Asturias beginning in 1989. In 1993, an additional eight VA-2+ (the equivalent of the AV-8B+) were ordered, along with a TAV-8B trainer. In 2000, Boeing (which had absorbed McDonnell Douglas) signed a contract to upgrade a number of early model VA-2s (the number varies from 2-11) to Harrier Plus standards, allowing them to carry AIM-120 missiles. Due to budget constraints, only five of the original Matador IIs were upgraded. The Matadors were part of Spain’s commitment to Operation DENY FLIGHT, enforcing the UN’s no-fly zone over Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the Asturias was decommissioned in 2013, the Matador IIs operate from the amphibious assault ship Juan Carlos I. Spain was interested in replacing the VA-2s with F-35Bs, but has instead settled on extending the Matador’s service life, citing the cost of replacements.

The first RAF Harrier II, known as the GR.5, entered service in 1987, replacing earlier GR.1 and GR.3 variants. The GR.5 differed from the AV-8B in that it had stainless steel leading edges to meet RAF bird-strike requirements, as well as in avionics and weapons. The RAF’s GR.5s were considered too immature a system to be deployed for the 1991 Gulf War, though several were dispatched to patrol the no-fly zones in 1993. Beginning in 1990 BAe began testing an upgraded Harrier II GR.7, which was broadly similar to the Night Attack AV-8B. After a successful test program 34 GR.7 were delivered through 1991, with the existing GR.5s upgraded beginning the same year. The GR.7s, hastily modified with GPS navigation, were deployed with NATO forced to the former Yugoslavia, and carried out recon and strike missions, often dropping LGBs on targets designated by SEPECAT Jaguars. Later, GR.7s were part of the UK’s commitment to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Beginning in the middle 2000s, BAe began development of the GR.9 upgrade, which would improve communications, ground proximity warning and navigation systems, followed by the integration of the AGM-65 Maverick air-to-ground missile. The GR.9 upgrade also included replacement of fatigued airframe components. GR.9s were deployed to Afghanistan in 2007, allowing aged GR.7s to be withdrawn. The stresses of war and advancing age of the fleet caused the wholesale retirement of the RAF’s Harrier IIs in 2011, with their tasks being assigned to Tornado GR.4s until delivery of the F-35B Lightning.

Erika Kinokami
First post of the Godzillaverse that I like to call Biola: Monster Genesis! For a start, who better to show off than the "series'" main protagonist and namesake of this gojiverse, Erika Shiragami Kinokami
Born 2009 to Genchiro Kinokami of the Typhon organization, an organization dedicated to the study of the giant organisms known as kaiju, she was already a genetic test from birth, having genes from multiple plants in her genome as a test run of giving humans photosynthetic capabilities (as a result, her skin has a bit of a greenish tone). Other than the photosynthesis and her lifelong friend being a robot⏤an AI-driven prototype of the Tezcatlipoca unit (T-units for short) technically designated as RD-A10N3 but given the name Jet Jaguar from Erika mispronouncing the Aztec deity's name⏤her life was fairly normal... until very recently.
While out on the field in a military effort against both a particularly aggressive hive of the giant neuropteran Meganula and a mated pair of volant kaiju given the name "Rodan", Erika (and Martin, an upstart kaiju-themed influencer tagging along) ran afoul of a Meganula larva within the cave systems being explored. The insect struck Erika in the abdomen with its claw, grievously wounding her. The Meganula would've killed her after that had it not been for the third Rodan, a smaller, sneaky male resembling a female, breaking through the wall and piercing the Meganula with its long, barbed tongue. For a split second, it looked to see the two other small creatures in there, but then had its attention grabbed by the controlled eruption of the nearby Mt. Aso where the Rodans had nested. As the "Faeder Rodan" flew off to try and save its mate. Jet Jaguar arrived and carried Erika off to safety.
After being brought to a Typhon facility on the remote Odo Island, Erika then undergoes a radical new treatment to help save her life. She's treated with an experimental kind of stem cell therapy incorporating cells and DNA from a kaiju whose emergence nearly 70 years ago spurred the formation of Typhon the following year; a kaiju whose power made it only deserving of the title "King of the Monsters". That beast's healing properties mean that Erika Kinokami now had a third genetic component: Gojira. After waking up, Erika seemed pretty fine at first (besides her not needing glasses anymore, being able to see ultraviolet light, and the healed up wound resembling plant resin), but she would be kept there to make sure there weren't any side effects. The next day, Erika was feeling a bit restless, and Jet suggested they go out and walk for a bit as some nature therapy. It was nice and they even found a cave system with 100% less maneating insects and plenty of nest subterranean biodiversity… but then the irradiated GNA (Godzilla DNA) really started kicking in.
Erika felt nothing at first, but then Jet pointed out that her face was getting pale and even a bit greenish. Erika dismisses that comment at first before Jet adds a small little elaboration: he means greenish even compared to her normal, chloroplast-infused skin tone. Then seeing a more vibrant green creeping up her arms, Erika bluntly agrees that they need to go back Now, and they make off. As they make their way to the cave entrance, Erika not only has leaves sprouting from the base of her neck and her hips (her hair was also gradually melding into leaves), but she starts growing from her human height of 5'1" (155 cm). Once they're at the cave entrance, she was actually too big to fit through, but ended up breaking through the entrance from her growing too big for it, finally stopping at a final height of 20 meters (and also giving a scream of terror and confusion afterwards). Jet, of course, called for help and Erika's dad and other Typhon personnel arrived. She was then brought back to the facility and later filled in on the whole GNA situation, but not before another party came by from the other side of the hill the cave entrance was on: Godzilla.
Strangely (although the maser tanks and other military units brought in preparation for the detected approach of another kaiju were hidden in the forest), the 50-meter dinosaur was noticeably unaggressive for the encounter, walking up to Erika, closely observing her with some minor vocalizations, and then leaving.
For Erika, the experience was even stranger. To her, Godzilla's face looked perplexed, showing more emotion than any photos or video footage of the Monster King she had seen before this day, and she could have sworn she heard a voice coming from him... a voice that called her a... "Biollante"?

had a neat dream about working in a massive secret government science facility. basically i was one of the scrubs, whose jobs range from cleaning the bathrooms to data entry to feeding the test subjects depending on ur security clearance
the schedule was 7 days on 7 days off due to the "effects" of being onsite. during ur work week u live in an underground dorm situation on site, bunk beds, etc, & during the off week u live in a more aparment-like house in an artificial town built specifically for employees
there was a really confusing system of elevators in the building & the scrubs just sort of scuttled around doing their scrub work. i got randomly called on the intercom to do an interview to join the crew of one of the doctors working on a specific project. my scrub buddies were giving me tips & opinions & stuff & when i got to the interview room it was a huge sterile white room w my name projected on the wall & the doctor was behind glass & it was super intimidating but we ended up chatting & he was a super nice guy
two of my scrub buddies got reassigned to a new crew w a higher security clearance & the rumor was that whatever they were working on was gonna be super gross & smelly & they were super bummed out
also sometimes youd be scheduled to be tested yourself, so you would show up & the room would be flooded w 6 inches of water & thered be some different colored balls or w/e random thing & the intercom would say "begin testing" and youd have no idea what's going on
as a scrub all of ur tasks are highly specific & structured so as to not give you any hint of the whole scope of the project youre assigned to. no asking questions, no talking about ur work. there was a lot of gossip tho, but nobody wants to get in trouble bc u signed a contract & maybe u didnt read the contract v thoroughly & there are rumors about what happens to u if u breach the contract. sometimes fellow scrubs disappear & nobody knows if they just got reassigned to a higher clearence project or if they were Dissappeared
it pays p decently tho & getting every other week off is great
the lil artificial town u live in during ur off weeks is p standard. it was built specifically for the employees & their families so in addition to housing theres grocery stores & schools & bars & theaters & stuff. but it feels a little plastic sometimes when u think about it, & theres a lot of cctv, and also u cant leave. u SIGNED a CONTRACT. but theres a climbing gym & a nature preserve & adult education classes
but what i remember most was how complex the system of underground hallways & elevators were. everything was labeled w numbers & letters, like "take elevator F8 in zone ALPHA to floor D12a and follow hallway RED to conference room 11r" & "floor S57 zone PHI is a SILENT AREA"
"floors D15 through J66 are currently OFF LIMITS to those with security clearances below JAGUAR SIX. please avoid floors D15 through J66 until further notice. non-compliants are at risk for CONTAMINATION and possible BONE REJECTION"
anyway it was a fun dream a+

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first thing to hit you when you wake is the pungent smell of fear. As your eyes flutter open, you try to take in the sight before you. You’re in a warehouse, you can tell as much. All around you are dozens of other hybrids bunched into individual cages.
Your hands come to rest on the bars of yours, eyes widening when you finally seem to grasp the reality of your situation. Your hands are bound in heavy dirty shackles, and you can tell you certainly weren’t the first to ever wear them. The cages are not big enough for you to stand up, and you can barely move. Stray tears stream down your cheeks as the memories of the events which led to your condition ultimately flash before your eyes.
“ Come on, she’s weak.”
“We’re gonna get you kitty, stop running.”
You pant as you run. You’ve never run this fast before in your life, your heart pounding dangerously in your chest. ‘Escape’ is the only thought plaguing your mind as you hear the voices behind you. You don’t even know where you are, much less where you could go, so you just keep on running in the dark alleyways. You suddenly turn in another alley, relieved when you find the ladder of a fire escape.
Maybe they won’t find me if I climb, you think to yourself as you begin grasping the rusty bars. The voices are coming closer, and you find that there are even more than you originally thought.
A gunshot rings through the air right next to you, the bullet landing behind you in the wall. Your eyes widen and you quicken your pace, however, in your haste to come up, you fail to see the broken bar and fall off the ladder. The fall chases the air from your lungs as you try to get up.
“Too slow, kitty”, the man behind you says with a smirk.
They caught up, you think as a sob of pain and hopelessness escapes you. How long had you been running? And your siblings, had they been able to escape? You turn on your front and crawl on the ground, trying to get away from the men as much as you could, when you feel a shock of electricity coursing through your body.
“Where do you think you’re going, bitch? You’ve already caused us too much trouble, don’t think you’re gonna get off easy.” A hand grabs your hair, causing you to wince in pain. You can barely move when the man hits you square in the face with a baton, and you fall unconscious.
Your left hand leaves the bar to touch the side of your face where you remember being hit, and you wince when your fingers come in contact with the bruised skin. You glance around the room to distract yourself from the pain of your face; there must be at least 50 hybrids in cages in the warehouse, predators and prey alike. Most of the hybrids in your vicinity sport bruises on their faces, some of them sobbing, and their clothes are disheveled. All of you look as if you rolled in dust, the hygiene of the facility having clearly been overlooked. You scan the room, holding your breath, looking for a familiar face. You’re relieved to see that you knew none of the hybrids around you. It’s better that way, you try to convince yourself, unable to repress the pang of fear you feel at the thought of being alone.
Suddenly, the sound of a heavy door opening grasps the attention of all hybrids. The room falls completely silent, all of you looking on in fear as ten men make their way inside. One of them claps his hands loudly as he faces the others.
“Alright gentleman, we need to move fast”, he says in a low, raspy voice. “ Separate the predators and the prey into two groups, and then start charging the trucks, we don’t have all day.” He claps his hands a second time, and that seems to spur on the workers who make their ways towards the hybrids, muttering different variations of “Yes boss” as they reach the cages.
The boss then turns around to face the captive hybrids.
“Oh, and if any of them give you trouble…. You know what to do”, he says, his mouth shifting into a dark smirk. It seems that the threat was rather directed towards the hybrids as he leaves the room, chuckling when he kicks a cage, making the hybrid inside whimper.
One by one, the cages were separated into two other rooms, and then loaded onto trucks by packs of eight. All around you you could hear whimpers and sobs of hybrids, sometimes interrupted by the loud shouts of the loaders. Your mind is racing, desperately searching for a way to escape. There has to be a way. However, as much as the cogs in your mind are turning, you can’t help feeling helpless.
You and the seven other hybrids loaded on the truck are the last of the hybrids. You don’t spare a glance towards the others yet, your eyes locked on the loader charging the last cage next to you. The eight enclosures are in the center of a container, in two rows of four. As you were loaded just before the last cage, it meant that you could reach the loader. You are not going to go down without a fight, that’s for certain. If you’re going to die, you at least have to cause as much damage as you can. You were just about to attack him when something shiny caught your eyes. The keys!
Once his deed is done, the loader then sits on the edge of the container. He takes out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and starts lighting one. Smoke spreads in the truck, making one of the hybrids cough. However, the acrid smell is now the least of your concerns as your eyes zero in on the keys. Slowly, your hand creeps towards the set of keys. You can feel the hybrid next to you holding his breath as your hand makes its way to the keys. You are as quiet as possible, carefully holding the chains of your restraints to stop them from rattling. Once you finally grab the keys, you bring them back to you without a sound.
The hybrid on your left is the only one aware of your doings, and once the keys are stashed under your tail, you finally face him to make eye contact. His eyes are open wide in awe and you can see a glimmer of hope in his gaze. Hope, yes, I’m going to call him that. You smile shyly and glance away from his intense gold eyes, instead focusing on his body. He has small rounded ears and a spotted tail. Like you, he must be a big cat hybrid. His coal hair is dirty, falling in front of his eyes. Once he comes out of his awe stricken state, he returns you a small smile, his mouth forming a heart.
Another cough comes to your ears and you decide to look around at the other hybrids next to you. Behind you is another male hybrid. He sits uncomfortably, his shoulders too wide to be cramped in such a small cage. His face is beautiful though dirty, and when his gaze finally meets yours, you find yourself entranced by his blue eyes. His round ears are black at the tips and his tail is also spotted. Another big cat, huh? He smiles sweetly at you, though his eyes betray his fear.
You turn to take in the small hybrid next to him, behind Hope. He sits hugging his knees, his bushy tail wrapped around him. His fur is grey with large black rosettes across. His hair is blond, his light eyes unfocused. He looks completely lost, his plump lips quivering ever so slightly. Feeling your gaze on him, he turns to face you, revealing his black eye and busted lip. You’re not the only one who put on a fight apparently. You quickly avert your eyes from his figure, looking instead at your feet.
You’re unable to see the other hybrids behind Wide Shoulders and Blondie from your point of view, but it doesn’t take a lot of thinking to figure out that the others are probably big cats as well.
A whistle shrills through the air. The loader finally finishes his cigarettes, throws the butt on the ground and grabs the doors of the container, a wicked smile on his face: “ See you never, monsters,” he spits and closes the doors abruptly. You would scoff at his remark if it weren’t for the fact that bringing unwanted attention to you would thwart your escape plans. The container is plunged into darkness, and you can sense the truck starting to move.
The start of the ride is silent, aside from a few whimpers coming from the hybrids in the front. Once your eyes start to get accustomed to the darkness, you look for the keys to your shackles. There are a lot of keys and you try one by one to open your restraints with shaky hands. Eight of them are similar, and the last one is slightly smaller. The big ones must be for the shackles and the other for the cage, you think.
Your heart is pounding in your chest, and at the sound of the keys, the hybrids in the front are getting restless. Wide shoulders, Blondie and Hope are staring intently at your ministrations, the latter the only one who isn’t surprised at your possession. When your shackles finally pop open, you can hear Wide shoulders let out a cry of victory, Blondie turning towards the others, only to utter the word “keys”. It seems however that it’s all they really need to understand and the whimpers cease.
With your hands finally free, you look for the lock on your cage, testing the keys when Hope leads your hands to the lock. You finally stand up after what seems an eternity, and every muscle in your body seems to scream in pain having stayed in the cage so much. You take the small key from the set and give the rest to Hope. While he tries to undo the restraints, you go around the enclosures to open them.
While opening the cages, you spot a badly injured hybrid. Both his eyes are black and swollen shut. From the look of his tail, you figure he must be a lion hybrid. When his cage finally pops open, you reach out to help him up, flinching away when he roars at your touch.
“Don’t worry, we’re free”, says with a low voice the hybrid next to him, a tiger hybrid you note, and both of you reach out to help the lion. You cast a thankful glance to the tiger and continue on opening the cages, finishing by Blondie’s cage.
Once all of them are out of their cages, Hope finishes going around the hybrids to rid them of their restraints. You can finally see the other hybrids, though you can’t really distinguish them due to the lack of lights. You had seen Hope, Blondie and Wide shoulders thanks to the warehouse’s lights, but it’s now impossible to identify the species of the others without being close. Not a word is ushered as the last shackles fall to the floor of the container. The eight of you are left to stare at each other (except for the lion who is resting seated against the side of the container), until a small voice is heard.
“What now?” The heads all turn towards a young hybrid, perhaps the youngest of the males hybrids. He has deep round amber eyes and dark hair falling on his features. His eyes sink to the ground when he feels the attention on him.
“We have to escape”, says Hope, looking at the door of the container. The hybrids all turn towards the door, and a small man with a black tail goes to feel the door, looking for anything that could help him open it.
“But the truck-”
“It’s either we jump while it’s moving, either we die at the slaughterhouse” Wide shoulders interrupts the tiger.
“But-”
“We should be on a small road.” This time, it’s the lion who speaks unexpectedly. “They can’t move us on highways, it’s too risky, and the truck is not going at maximum speed. We should be surrounded by fields or the forest, making our escape easier. Plus, it should be night, they wouldn’t move illegal cargo during the day.”
“You’re probably right”, you say. “So this is our only chance.” You look pointedly at the tiger hybrid who looks hesitant. “ If we don’t escape now we’ll die”. At the last word, Blondie whimpers. You try to bury the fear you feel, this is not the time to be scared, we have to run.
Behind you, the dark tailed hybrid ultimately opens the door with a grunt. All of you turn towards the opening. The lion was right, it is night time, and all you can see are the passing fields in the horizon.
Thanks to the moonlight, you figure out that the black-tailed hybrid is in fact a black panther. He looks back. His pale skin is glowing in the moonlight, contrasting with his dark hair. His yellow eyes are luminous, scouring the truck.
“It’s now or never”, he says, locking eyes with as many hybrids as he can. He then goes back to where the lion is seated and helps him to stand up.
Wide Shoulders is the first to jump, and he rolls to a stop on the road. Blondie follows him closely, holding the tigers hand in his. Hope and Black panther hold on to the lion and all three fall on the road. You’re going to jump when you see the wide eyed boy behind you.
“Hey, we gotta go”, you try to urge him, but he only looks at you with glassy eyes.
The others are getting out of view, and you start to panic. You can’t leave him here, he’s going to die. You try to pull him by the hand but he stays put. He’s too strong for you. Shit!
“Please! We need to jump”, you look at him pleadingly, “we're going to be fine I promise!”
“Promise..?” he looks completely lost, eyes wide, focused on you.
“Yes, now please we have to go!” you beg, and this time, when you pull at his hand, he follows you. Both of you jump out of truck, hand in hand.
The landing is somewhat painful, gravel sinking in your hands and shin. Your arm took the brunt of it, but you don’t dare to look at it now, only getting up to run, your hand still in the man’s. As sure as you could be that the driver couldn’t possibly have heard anything over the noise of the truck, it was not impossible for them to see you through the mirrors.
Adrenaline coursing through your veins, you get out of the road onto the high grass framing the road. You just had to find the others, and then you’ll figure out what to do next. You are still running, unable to stop, and as the hand of the young man following you slips out of yours, a thought hits you: Why would they wait for us?
You continue running, and your mind races just as much. They don’t have to wait for you. If anything, it would be safer for them if they don’t. Eight predatory hybrids in the wild is an uncanny sight. Moreover, the countryside isn’t known for its open-mindedness regarding hybrids. These hybrids are far from being stupid, you could tell by only listening to the lion hybrid. Chances are they took the safest bet and left already, every man for himself. Behind you, the once afraid hybrid is still following. At least he’ll be here, right?
However, those thoughts all wash away when you finally see the group of hybrids. The six of them are here, crouched in the grass in a circle, waiting anxiously for you. You can’t help the smile of relief when you come crashing next to Hope, the effects of the adrenaline already fading, leaving only exhaustion. Behind you, the young hybrid is catching his breath, his hands on his knees, his tail swatting around him.
“You- You waited..” you pant.
“Of course, we wouldn’t leave any of us behind.” Blondie says. It’s the first time you hear him talk, his voice is melodious. He seems more relaxed now, even going as far to flash a small smile your way.
“Everyone is here, we can’t stay for long. We have to find somewhere to rest.” It’s Wide Shoulders’ time to speak now, his tone serious but the light in his eyes tells you he’s happy to see you.
“There’s a forest not too far from here, surely we could take cover underneath the trees”, Hope says, pointing towards a patch of trees.
“Alright, everyone be careful, and let’s go to the trees”, Wide Shoulders rises, helping the lion hybrid get to his feet. In the moonlight, his injuries are all the more apparent, and he seems to be limping as well. What happened to him? The tiger hybrid gets to his side, letting the injured man lean on him for support. The small group slowly makes way to the trees, silent in the night, all senses on high alert.
You only let yourself relax when you finally reach the cover of the trees, the knots in your shoulders loosening up. You take in your surroundings, the trees giving a decent enough shelter for the eight of you to rest for now. The ground is covered with moss and dead leaves, comfortable enough for you to sleep. You decide to camp around a small stream, taking advantage of the clear water to drink and wash up a little bit.
None of you talk, all of you occupied with different tasks. Thanks to the moonlight, you can finally take in the rest of the boys accompanying you. The tiger hybrid is beautiful, with sharp features and piercing golden eyes. His hair is long and wavy, falling in front of his eyes. He seems focused on washing the blood and gravel off the side of his torso. You can’t help your gaze from falling on his small waist.
Damn, he really built like that?
You shake your head to chase those thoughts away and focus instead on the lion hybrid already drifting off to sleep on the soft moss. His dirty blond hair is falling on either side of his face, his round ears pressed to the back of his head. The bruises on his face are purple and blue, and blood is drying around his fleshy lips and brow bone. His long hands are also bloodied, and you don’t even want to think about what could have happened to him. Luckily, those bruises should disappear quickly thanks to hybrids’ healing capability.
A reminder that he’s not the only one bruised hits you when you try to lay on your side, the pain in your arm making you grit your teeth. You finally dare to look at it and breathe through your teeth at the sight. Your arm is bloody, bits of flesh torn because of the gravel. You move to the stream, holding back a whimper to try and wash your wound when a big hand rests on your good arm. You look up to meet Wide Shoulders’ blue eyes in surprise. He flashes you a small smile.
“It looks really bad, please let me”, he says, gesturing to your arm.
Begrudgingly you let him, wincing when the cold water comes in contact with your flesh. Once he removes all the gravel left in your arm, he rips a part of his shirt off to wrap the cloth around your arm. You look at him in surprise, only glancing for a few seconds at his now exposed abs.
Oh my god he has abs?
Once he finishes to wrap up your arm, you cast him a questioning look.
“Well, it’s thanks to you we’re safe… That’s the least I can do”, he says shyly. You utter a small thank you, still shocked at the gesture.
“You should try to sleep, you look exhausted.”
Sure enough, as soon as he says this you erupt in a huge yawn, eyelids feeling heavy. You start to settle on the soft moss, casting a glance to your travel companions.
You’re not out of trouble yet, that you know for sure. But you feel strangely safer, even in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the seven hybrids. As you can see the males slowly drift off to sleep, you realize that perhaps you’ll be okay, and you know you can count on them.
