Conversation
Today was my day off, so I spent the afternoon watching The Post while experimenting with the contents of my liquor cabinet, eating cheese slices directly from the deli bag, and trying to make Footnoterphone laugh.
This chat has been edited for clarity and to remove our digressions into Crooked Media RPF, figure skating, and actual politics.
*
moscarific: This movie is so average
footnoterphone: That is a good description
*
moscarific:
There are too many famous people in this movie
They are all playing real people but they're so much more famous than those people, it's hard to keep them all straight
That is not Ben Bradlee, that is Tom Hanks, you can't fool me
Why are Phil Jennings and Saul Goodman meeting in a dark hotel room?
Please tell me someone has written this porn so I don't have to
I am disappointed but not surprised that there is no The Post fic on AO3
Did I mention Josh Lyman is in this and now I want threesome fic?
footnoterphone: No one is more qualified than you to make that happen
moscarific: Writing actual Ben Bagdikian/Daniel Ellsberg/Arthur Parsons porn would send me down a historical rabbit hole that I really, really don't have time for
Why is Landry from Friday Night Lights in this movie, now it's a damn orgy
Wait, that's Bruce Greenwood, now it's a five-way with Batman
footnoterphone: You know a lot of people's names
moscarific: I have the IMDB app
*
moscarific: Meryl Streep is streeping as hard as she can
footnoterphone: Please define "streeping as hard as she can"
moscarific: She is doing her Meryl Streep thing so intensely that it has become a verb
footnoterphone: I feel like I might enjoy the Meryl Streep thing more than you, but that is a fair description
moscarific: I love the Meryl Streep thing
It is saving this film for me, along with the presence of several of my favorite TV character actors
She deserves the honor of her own verb
*
moscarific: There have been like 10 gags involving pay phones and I still have an hour left
*
moscarific: If Sarah Paulsen wore that wig on Drag Race, she'd have to lip sync for her life
footnoterphone: there are a lot of parts to that sentence that I did not understand
moscarific: That's fine
*
moscarific: I am watching a montage of newspapers run through a printing press while superhero music plays
This movie is smug as fuck
footnoterphone: It really is
I mean, I honestly enjoyed it, but there is nothing interesting or creative or brave about it
moscarific: If I weren't enjoying it, I would have stopped after the first half hour
This is how I enjoy things
footnoterphone: Oh good, me too
*
moscarific: OMG actual inspiring speech from the only character of color in this entire film
footnoterphone: What was the speech?? I don't remember it??
moscarific: Blah blah my brother is in Vietnam, you're doing A Good and Important Thing, look at us passing the Bechdel test, I will go secretary now
*
moscarific: The world would be better if Meryl Streep had the last word in every movie
Oh wait, Watergate has the last word
The End
Nobody will remember this movie in 5 years

The best available players after Round 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft
Tumblr media
Washington quarterback Jacob Eason is the biggest name yet to be drafted, but he’s not the best player out there.
As expected, several runs on positions happened on Day 2. In the second round, four of the first 13 picks were used on safeties. The round also featured five running backs after only one was selected in the first round.
Wide receivers also continued to be popular. After six were taken in the first round, seven were picked in the second round and four in the third round.
After 106 picks, there are still plenty of talented players remaining in the 2020 NFL Draft. There are some big names, too. The biggest is Washington quarterback Jacob Eason. The Last Four Years
As I was sorting through my yearly data, I noticed a few trends. Some good. Some bad. But I really wanted to focus on the one that made me proud. The biggest one being the consistency in my writing and publishing over the last four years. When I thought about what to include in this post, I considered going back to my first year as a self- published author (2015), but then I realized that…

Jughead Jones left Riverdale at the age of 18 and never looked back.
He made a life for himself as an author, publishing his fiction, and traveling the country on his motorcycle. Jaded and scruffy, Jug embraces who he is, but regrets linger in the back of his mind.
Until Betty Cooper called him out of the blue one night fourteen years after he'd left her and Riverdale behind.

some thoughts after reading Bughead fanfic and a shout out to the fanfic writers
They could be strangers first met,  roommates, childhood friends, ex-boyfriend/girlfriend....and all different characters at the beginning then  they argue, they get hurt, they talk, they reconcile... they break through the barrier, difficulties,  see the lights, the good in each other, and they fall in love (again!),  it’s like they reincarnate in different time and space, love deeply... And here is a shout out to Bughead fanfic writers!  I’ve never read fanfic before Bughead happened on the show, THANK YOU for sharing your talent with these amazing fictions and the appreciation of Bughead relationship! Thank you for bring the love, fluff, tears and passion to my reading!    (sorry I didn’t know all the matching accounts!)  lusterrdust sylwrites   on_starry_night  @it-happened-one-starry-night wheninriverdale javajunkie  Jen Bradlee (BlackShip) citrusmuppet ariquitecontrary (ItsAriyanna) Malmo722 jugandbettsdetectiveagency @jugandbettsdetectiveagency AGirlNamedWhiskey Jennimisk Erikapell  @bughead4days singsongsung

A grand jury has indicted 12 Russian nationals for interfering in the 2016 presidential election; violence in Pakistan soars leading up to the country’s general election.

The Department of Justice announced that a federal grand jury indicted 12 Russian nationals accused of hacking the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign. The indictments are a part of Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. [CNN / Katelyn Polantz and Stephen Collinson]

The 12 nationals, thought to be led by Viktor Borisovich Netyksho, are members of GRU, a Russian intelligence agency. [Vox / Andrew Prokop]
The hack and leak in question took place days before Americans went to the polls to vote in the 2016 election. The Russians’ work is thought to have helped Donald Trump and hindered Hillary Clinton. [AP / Eric Tucker]
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein emphasized that there are no allegations against American citizens involved in these indictments. [CBS / Kathryn Watson]
Rudy Giuliani and the Trump team is lauding the announcement as a good place to end Mueller’s investigation. [NY Mag / Jonathan Chait]
The announcement comes just days before Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are slated to meet at a summit in Helsinki. It’s unclear how the indictments will affect diplomatic relations between the US and Russia. But essentially, the timing couldn’t be more awkward. [Washington Post / Amber Phillips]
The findings of this investigation prove that the timing of the DNC leak was all a part of a master plan. [Vox / Ella Nilsen]
Crimes with real consequences were committed, and Trump has done what he can to shelter those who committed them. [Vox / Matthew Yglesias]
Russia’s election meddling can sometimes seem simple, as though the Russians just hacked Democrats and then WikiLeaks posted the emails. It’s a bit more complicated and insidious than that. [Vox / Andrew Prokop]

“People often ask me what Ben would do today. I think he would say: ‘Get the story. The best available players after Round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft
Tumblr media

Houston offensive tackle Josh Jones highlights the best players for the second round on Friday.
In the end, after several twists, turns and false rumors, the beginning of the 2020 NFL Draft went as usual. And that goes beyond Joe Burrow going first and Chase Young going second. The Lions took cornerback Jeff Okudah at No. 3. The Giants took an offensive tackle. Tua Tagovailoa went to the Dolphins like most expected until people started assuming they would take Justin Herbert. The Chargers wisely took the best quarterback that fell to them in Herbert.
But not everything went according to plan. The wide receivers came off the board in an order few expected. Same for the offensive tackles. The first round was also filled with some stunners, like the Green Bay Packers moving up for quarterback Jordan Love or the Seattle Seahawks holding at No. 27 and taking linebacker Jordyn Brooks.
Those unexpected picks meant some big names fell out of the first round. Here are the best players available at the start of the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, based on SB Nation’s top 100 players and then some:
21. Josh Jones, OT, Houston
22. A.J. Epenesa, Edge, Iowa
23. Grant Delpit, S, LSU
25. Yetur Gross-Matos, Edge, Penn State

2020 NFL Draft Big Board
For years I’ve been tracking NFL Draft websites and their big boards and aggregating their boards to make 1 master big board. Unfortunately, earlier this year I decided to shut down the site but since I still have the information I figured I would continue the tradition right here on Packernet. Below is my board. the full board has 717 prospects which have been cut down to only players with 2 or more rankings bringing us down to 381 prospects, and then sorted based on highest average rank.
