#DorieGreenspan @DorieGreenspan #DoriesCookies @DoriesCookies #DavideLuciano @DavideLuciano #hmhco @hmhco We thought 2020 could use a little extra Christmas, so on November 1st, Halloween came down and Christmas went up! We loaded Alexa with a fabulous Christmas playlist, and started watching all our favorite shows. With about a week to go, it was time to make cookies. We have traditional ones…

#MelissaUrban @MelissaUrban #ThisAfricanCooks @ThisAfricanCooks #Whole30 @Whole30 #hmhco @hmhco I blogged about the updated Whole30 Cookbook, Cooking Whole30, last week. I’m so in love with this book that I wanted to give you one more recipe to try! Spicy Shrimp Twice-Baked Potatoes. All the yes! The coconut cream instead of the traditional dairy in the twice-baked potatoes made this even more…

Baked Ricotta and Roasted Grapes with Balsamic Drizzle (savory cheesecake!) recipe and cookbook review: Rachael Ray 50
#RachaelRay @RachaelRay #RachaelRayShow @RachaelRayShow
Rachael Ray. That’s one polarizing name.
When my husband handed me a gift on our first Christmas together, I unwrapped it to find a cookbook, looked up and glared at him, and he ducked a little, laughing, “No! Open it up!” Tickets to Phantom of the Opera. Five years later, when our baby was tiny, and we decided I’d stay home with her,…

Wow! I have been playing in the most lovely posh baking book! Tartinehas some amazing and gorgeous projects to tackle when you’re feeling like something extraordinary and going the extra distance, when taking on the learning curve sounds fun. There’s also some much easier fare with a special spin when you’d just…

My dog eats earbuds. I put between 5 and 15 miles on my sneakers every day, and love listening to audiobooks while I’m out there on the trail. I keep leaving those earbuds on my desk, and find them fully munched when I go to grab them, so I’m usually trapped in my own…

Fesenjoon - Chicken (or eggplant) with Walnuts and Pomegranates recipe and cookbook review: The Saffron Tales by Yasmin Khan
Fesenjoon – Chicken (or eggplant) with Walnuts and Pomegranates recipe and cookbook review: The Saffron Tales by Yasmin Khan
#YasminKhan @YasminKhan #TheSaffronTales @TheSaffronTales #BloomsburyPub @BloomsburyPub
I flipped through The Saffron Tales, pasting little post-it notes on all the recipes I wanted to try. So many. She had four different variations on tahdig for her Chelow. Have you tried it? Chelow is Persian rice, and tahdig is the crispy layer that cooks in olive oil and butter right against the pan. So…

Smoky Chocolate Baklava recipe and cookbook review: Orexi! by Theo A. Michaels
#TheoCooks @TheoCooks #Orexi @RylandPetersAndSmall @RylandPeters #RylandPetersAndSmall #RylandPeters
Smoky. Chocolate. Baklava. I’m listening.Theo Michaels has you smoke chocolate on the stovetop for a few layers in his baklava. Then there’s a few layers of pistachios, hazelnuts, walnuts, and cinnamon. Encased in flaky, buttery phyllo. Obviously, that needed to happen. I have one of those…

Where the Crawdads Sing, Whiskey in a Teacup, and Crab Puffs
#WheretheCrawdadsSing #DeliaOwens #WhiskeyInATeacup #ReeseWitherspoon #BookClub #southern #crab
My book club recently read Where the Crawdads Sing, by Delia Owens. I was hook, line, and sinker in love with that book. It’s the story of a young girl, who spends her whole life struggling against the current, trying to find her way. It has everything – beauty, scientific curiosity, adaptability,…

Spicy Chocolate Chip-Hazelnut Cookies recipe and cookbook review: Season by Nik Sharma
#Season #ABrownTable #NikSharma #ChronicleBooks #chocolate #cookies
Nik grew up in India, then lived in the Midwestern and Northeastern U.S., and finally settled in California with his husband from the Southern U.S. All of those influences are very present in his food, and it makes for the most delightful fusion. I was thumbing through Season: Big Flavors, Beautiful Food, oohing and aahing,…

Pasta attachments for the stand mixer, fresh pasta 101 demo, and Cacio e Pepe
Pasta attachments for the stand mixer, fresh pasta 101 demo, and Cacio e Pepe
The guy from Gvode asked if he could send me a meat grinder attachment for my stand mixer to try. My KitchenAid stopped rotating after about two years. Breville, Vitamix, Wusthof, and FoodSaver make things right if there’s a malfunction. KitchenAid walks away whistling like the cable companies used to. They are way too expensive to die that quickly. Not to mention landfills. Where are you going…

Mojo-Marinated Cuban-Style Pork recipe and Cookbook review: Instant Pot Miracle
Mojo-Marinated Cuban-Style Pork recipe and Cookbook review: Instant Pot Miracle
#HMHCO @HMHCO Instant Pot Miracle is a super neat Instant Pot book with a huge range of Instant Pot recipes. It’s pretty much one stop shopping. We loved everything we tried. Note that we found the salt measures really light, and generally doubled the salt. You can tailor the sauciness level afterwards by pulling out the meat or whatever and reduce the sauce to your perfect level using the saute…
