For Vasco, apparently there's a breed that comes from a mix of Arabian and Andalusian horses, (Hispano-Árabe) (pretty sure every country has their version of 'one of our horsie but with some Arabian') and they kinda seem to vary in appearance, but i've stumbled on a few that look suitably golden and round ?

I actually went looking at pictures of pale akhal-tekes earlier and got distracted for a good forty minutes or so.

It's certainly a distinct look.

A bit like if you took a regular horse and shaved, unseasoned and shrink wrapped it (and I say this with my heart full of limitless love for them).

last night i went to a really fun and informal fundraiser evening with jesse and lucy at westminster school, where they were interviewing each other. i got to ask a question which i’ve mused upon for some time about tom, shiv and greg. enjoy! full transcript under cut

me: so i’m gonna have to look at what i wrote down.

jesse: that’s alright, you’re highly in credit since you know more about the show than us. more about john berryman.

(laughter)

lucy: tell us what we’ve done wrong so far!

me: god, no. i wouldn’t! so my question, this is a character based question, and one thing that probably got a bit subsumed in the fourth season just because everything was happening. but i’d like to know more about tom and shiv, and also greg. because my read on the situation between the three of them is that greg is a source of marital strife (laughter) that shiv never noticed, and what would it have taken for shiv to notice the depth of greg’s presence in their marriage.

jesse: uh huh.

me: and tom’s attachment to him.

jesse: uh huh. sometimes you get little bits in life or you see something and you’re like, i wish we were making the show, because i suddenly do want to hear shiv say ‘greg you’re a source of marital strife’.

(laughter)

jesse: that’s like, when you’re like, that’s gonna be in, we’re not gonna cut that.

lucy: absolutely.

jesse: (doing greg voice) wh-wh-what?!

(laughter)

lucy: yeah. well we enjoyed that, didn’t we. we had a scene in america decides, which was the only scene between shiv and greg.

jesse: oh yeah.

lucy: the election episode in the final season where she takes him into a little room and threatens him.

me: ah, but it’s jealousy over lukas, over the greg and lukas thing, and it’s like, have you forgotten your husband, who is also very attached to this limpet?

lucy: yeah. i would also say that there are marriages in which a third party is not an unuseful thing, as well. not in a forgiving way about infidelity, but i would say that there are things that tom can express with and at and on greg (laughter) as it were, to greg, that are useful because he’s both a - you know the great, the interesting thing about tom is that he’s both a courtier and a bully. he’s that rare combination of someone who you totally believe as being almost like (mimes bowing and doffing cap) ‘oh yes sorry thank you yes ma’am’ and also like, ‘i’m gonna kill you’ and that juxtaposition is what makes him so interesting.

but in his marriage to shiv he has no real way, until quite late i guess in the final season, where we explore it, to hold power over her and to use that part of himself. so he’s accepted the acquiescing, he’s accepted the role of courtier in that marriage, and greg is quite a useful place where he gets to express all of that, the bully in him so that maybe it doesn’t have to come out in the marriage. which might be bad, because perhaps it should do and then the marriage would’ve ended much earlier, yknow, when shiv would just be like ‘i’m not dealing with you challenging me in any way’. so it’s not until that balcony scene i think where he really challengers her much at all. possibly the beach scene, where he sort of says that he’s considered leaving her, and how that would feel. but with aggressive challenge? it’s all directed at greg, and greg is allowed to be the place where all those feelings go.

me: but the affection - there’s also affection between them.

jesse: YEAH. and i think that’s the other thing maybe you’re alluding to is like, she… i think, some things you know you’re putting in the show because you talk about them and other things just naturally occur, and audiences and people tell you what the show is and what you put in there and you didn’t even realise, but i think we were aware of this - she’s oblivious. her obliviousness is a big part of her wealth and her upbringing and… so there’s something homoerotic going on between greg and tom.

me: i mean it’s not for me to say.

(laughter)

jesse: and does she… i think there’s two ways of reading that, either she’s oblivious, and that’s intriguing and possible. the other is that she sort of - there’s a scene in, you know that one, in the sun valley media conference in argestes, where we wrote a bit where shiv shows up unexpected and tom’s sort of flirting with someone, and it never really landed that much. i think we were like, oh this really gonna, shiv’s gonna spark up when she sees him flirting with someone. and it’s one of those things where you were like, you know what? i don’t think she gives a hoot, really, does she.

(laughter)

jesse: it’s like, she hasn’t got that, that’s not in her belly, that fear of loss.

lucy: no.

jesse: so i think that goes, that probably goes for a same-sex relationship or flirtation as much as it does for with a woman.

lucy: i think that’s true.

jesse: like she really… even if he was like - and this is not the way that tom would be like - ‘i think i’d like to sleep with greg’, i think she’d be like (mimes looking at watch) ‘when?’.

(laughter)

jesse: (as shiv) ‘not when i’m in the city, that’s weird, tom’.

(laughter)

jesse: i don’t think she’d have any fundamental objection to that.

lucy: that’s true. i think jealousy is quite a low status emotion.

jesse: yes.

lucy: and i think that she would struggle to feel it.

(jesse laughs)

lucy: even if it was present in some way, she would never be able to access it because it would put her too much at a disadvantage. so i think yeah exactly that, it would be like, ‘oh i guess you’re going to fuck that boring woman now are you, tom’ or do that, like… she has to be here (mimes one hand above another hand) so jealousy can’t really be accessed by her. so she might be irritated by greg, but in the way you would be by a mosquito.

me: to her detriment.

lucy: to her detriment, sure, ultimately yeah.

Captain Rex x Reader - A pillar. Someone who supports him through everything.

You smile at Rex, soft and warm and gentle as he rests his head on your lap. He’s more asleep than awake at this point, and you lightly trail the pads of your fingers over his short hair, careful to not wake him.

He’s so tired, your perfect Rex. Your handsome Captain.

But here, in the safety of your apartment, enveloped in your soft arms and soft scent, the stress lines on his face ease away, making him look his physical age, rather than much older.

He turns in his slumber, his face pressing against your stomach and his arms slide securely around your waist, clinging to you like a child would cling to a treasured blanket, and your smile softens.

He works so hard, your Rex. Has so much stress and responsibility laid upon his broad and strong shoulders. As if he's stuck bearing the weight of the galaxy.

But, right here, right now, you can bear that weight for him.

"Rest, my love." You whisper, your voice soft enough that he doesn't stir, "I have the watch."

Commander Wolffe x Reader - A lighthouse, someone who is able to light his way home, even in the darkest of times.

"You're tense, Wolffe." Your voice is soft as you slide your hands over his shoulders to wrap him in a hug from behind. "Is everything alright?"

His smile is wry and slightly bitter, and you have your answer.

No. He's not alright. He's not been alright since the day he lost most of his battalion. Since the day his beautiful red armor bled all the color out and turned into the solemn grey of mourning.

You press a feather light kiss against the back of his neck and tighten your arms around him. You won't pressure him, you won't ask him questions.

ARC Trooper Jesse x Reader - A sanctuary, someone where he's allowed to break and shatter, without fear of any consequences.

He's shaking.

Jesse's arms are firm around your, his face pressed against your neck as he lays on top of you...and he's shaking.

Trembling, really. Like a tooka kitten.

Your arms wrap around his broad shoulders and you turn your head to kiss the side of his head. You knew, of course, that this deployment was...bad.

But until this very moment, you had no idea how bad.

You won't ask, though you know he'll tell you if you did.

Even though your heart breaks when you feel his tears against your bare shoulder. And then it shatters when a sob rips from your Jesse's throat.

Even then, you still won't ask. You are his sanctuary, his safe place where he can be just a man, and not the strong soldier that he has to be every other day.

And when he, brokenly, whispers that he's applying for ARC, you just tighten your arms around him.

And you know, know, that this story ends in tragedy. But you'll continue being his safe place until it's not needed anymore.

Commander Fox x Reader - A bulwark, a barrier between him and the rest of the galaxy. Someplace where he can feel safe.

Fox sighs, low and quiet as he looks up at you. He has dark circles under his eyes, he hasn't been sleeping again. But that's nothing compared to the angry bruises that you're treating for him.

"I'm sorry," he breathes out, "For being such a burden."

You smile at him, warm and loving, "You could never."

Something like distress slides across his face, "Cyare, I-"

"Shh," You soothe him with a gentle touch of your hand against his cheek, "Whatever it is, darling, it will hold. At least for now."

The distress remains, though it fades as you lovingly apply bacta to another bruise.

He suffers, your Fox. You see it more and more clearly with every passing day. He's losing time, he has growing blank spots in his memory...and it terrifies him.

It terrifies you too.

How long before he's not him anymore? Until he no longer looks at you with love and adoration, but with blank disregard.

You shove the thought to the side firmly. Right here, right now you have your Fox. And you will shield him from the rest of the galaxy, for as long as you can.

That's all you can do for him.

Tommy chuckles from somewhere in the room, the sound just as soothing as the faint, sound of rare drops of rain tapping against the bedroom window.

“I was gonna make you breakfast,” Tommy tells him, a large hand sliding into his hair, combing it back towards the pillow.

“Really?” Buck blinks his eyes open, taking in the view of Tommy towering over him, eyes warm, a wide, close-mouthed - fond - smile on his face.

“Mhm,” Tommy hums, trailing his hand down the side of Buck’s face as he rolls over onto his back, casually allowing his eyes to drift up and down his body, appreciating his bare chest before they settle back on his face. “Figured you’d be hungry after last night,” Tommy says, raising an eyebrow.

“You’re sweet,” Buck hums, happiness fluttering in his stomach as he catches Tommy’s hand in his own.

Do you have any headcannons about ellie and jesse’s friendship? I love hearing about how other people perceive their friendship. Me personally i think that ellie and jesse were besties😗

Ellie and Jesse are definitely besties. I feel like Ellie felt comfortable talking to Jesse (mostly because of his clown attitude in some situations, such as when she came out with kissing Dina and he made fun of it instead of giving her a hard time). That's also maybe why she trusted him enough to confirm that Dina was pregnant. I don't believe that if she didn't feel really close to him, she wouldn't rather choose to avoid the question or to lie.

Ellie and Jesse headcanons:

1.) When Ellie and Jesse were both teenagers, they would lowkey compete with each other for Dina's attention (unaware of doing so).

2.) Jesse visiting Ellie to play video games together. I don't believe that girl played games alone. Dina would probably be present too, since I think most of the time they were a love triangle (again, totally unaware of it).

3.) As teens, Jesse would tease Ellie a lot. In the most ridiculous, childish way. Ellie would be sitting in the commune cafeteria, chatting with Dina, and he'd sneak behind her to steal her sandwich and run away with a stupid laugh. I love imagining all Ellie's possible reactions. Dina would be smacking him later.

4.) Jesse would borrow Ellie's music, forgetting to give it back to her, sometimes even losing the CDs she lent him, driving her mad.

5.) The first time Ellie got drunk was unintentional because Jesse brought vodka to a campfire party to spike the homemade punch.

6.) Ellie teaching Jesse how to shoot a bow, picking up on him for being bad at it every chance she gets. Especially when playing darts. "If these aren't the bow skills you don't have."

7.) Teenager Jesse probably found a way to Ellie through the comic books he owned. Ellie would find out about his collection after Dina brought her along to spend time playing poker in his room.

8.) Ellie loves when Jesse tells stories. He's good at making up and narrating scary ones. 

9.) Ellie knows Jesse likes Golden Girls and can't let that go. Jesse's reaction would always be the same, "But Dorothy is so cool."

✦゜ANSWERED: Realistically, I don't think Teo would need to resort to a callperson because he's already got an extensive list of people willing to "help him out". If he needs some company, he'll simply call up one of his regular hookups and go down the list until someone responds lmao

And if Teo already knew Angel was a callperson, I actually think he'd find it more fun to annoy them rather than book their services ^^; Things like htting up their line to see if anyone else has called, talking about the most random topics to waste their time, asking how much their services are before telling them they should pay him for his time, etc.

And while Teo would 100% pay a callperson for their services, he'd prefer if they did "it" out of their own volition instead (and not because it's their job or they need clients). He only has hookups/one night stands with people who are genuinely attracted to him and want to sleep with him, so if he knew Angel only showed interest in him as a way to make money, he might not see fully the appeal.
