Feeling divided about how I want to perceive the Hooker clan in Near Dark.
Part of me wants a nuclear found family thing going on. No funny business.
The other one wants that, yeah, but with the whole Severen being the spare wheel for Jesse and Diamondback - and later on with Mae and Caleb. Also did he do anything with Mae before Caleb came along? So many doubts. So many questions. Have so many different scenarios in mind for both situations, and keep changing my mind about them and going from one to the other.
Any thoughts, contributions, or ideas on this would be highly appreciated because I no longer know what to think.
Does it really, really matter? No. I would go with either no matter what, but still...
also just because I miss them, any crossover thoughts for Nate & Colton, Elliot & Abbie, the Hart triplets (listen I had an idea for a King to go in Violet's fic to round them out but I realized I used my ideal face already for descendants), or Jess & Violet?
Nate & Colton
My favourite jocks 🥺 I know that we always talked about their deep moments (like, our boys are full of traumas, pls babies go to therapy), how they stand for each other and how they talk about serious stuff... now I want to see their silly side! I want Colton being dragged in that chaos that is Nate's house and trying to deal with seven younger sisters, I want them to sing silly songs and watch even sillier movies together, I want Nate to totally adore Toto (Nate: Can I steal him?), I want them to bring out the best of each other. I also want them to chitchat about their boys like two 12 year old with a crush lol
Elliott & Abbie
First of all, I want them to dance together in A Night Of Neglect 🥺 No, no! I want them to dance together in every single episode 🥺
Also, I want Abbie to be adopted by Elliott's dance squad! (They're side ocs, because True Color is about Elliott and Nate, but...) (I have to remember to do a post for them and one for the Simmons) Or, even better, I want her just being a part of it! Like, my babies grew up dancing together 🥺🥺
Five Hearts (because now they're five 🥺)
Nothing, because I will go down on their ask, I promise 👀👀
Jess & Violet
Listen here. Jess being Violet's closer counselor when she's queen. Violet always says that she needs Jess to be always around as an excuse to bring her with her when she needs to go to Auradon just for reunite the Hearts sibs (but also, she just enjoy her and they're very close friends and likes when she's around).
Upon entering a random bar to fully initiate Caleb; the group runs into a familiar face from a time long passed. Miss Nadine, turned by Severen a few decades after Jesse and Diamondback started getting sentimental. She had proved to be more than just a blood thirsty playmate and the two of them set out against the world together for a time. But when things went sour; Severen returned to the fold and Nadine was lost to the wind... until now.

A man hosts a massive thanksgiving dinner for his entire family. The three cousins between the ages of 19 and 23, Danny, Derrick, and Domelda, philosophize about mini marshmallows. The cousins between the ages of 6 and 9, Ethan, Ella, and Evan, complain about being at the kids table and how nerdy Ethan is. The old cousins have a very repetitive and strange conversation about kinds of retirement community islands, including rice, ice, mice, dice, and others. An orphan approaches the host and asks if she can attend the dinner. The host agrees after some convincing. Meanwhile turkeys who've never been eaten talk about their friends and enemies being killed and how it gives their lives meanining. A police officer comes inquiring after the orphan girl and says she's not what she appears and that she's actually a turkey in disguise. The green beans are also turkeys (gobble gobble) and the orphan/travelocity gnome is also a turkey. The cop is revealed to be 3 chickens stacked up on each other. All the turkeys are now on a JetBlue flight. The birds end up on Spice Island (finally!) The plane crashes and the birds have to use the micro mallows to make regular marshmallows and float back home.
Best quotes:
• "Sorry I just choked on how much I MIND"
Best songs:
• Island Retirement Community
• Be Thankful (That You're Not Being Murdered)
Thoughts Overall:
The Island Retirement Community song is almost a spice island commercial and I think everyone knew it. Okay yeah I was right. What the fuck even is this episode it's such a fever dream. Zach as a small nerdy 8 year old asks a gnome/turkey their pronouns because he didn't want to assume if they were a human. This episode kind of feels like a Bojack Horseman episode from his coked out perspective. Also Zach has a really good plane voice. I have no idea what even happened during any of it.
some of these have been posted before, but I figured I'd compile them in one place. Here are some unused/possibly just unbeknownst to me audio files that WILL and already HAVE kept me up at night:
Addison believing that Jessalyn is dead and blaming herself
MORE SAVANNAH/WADE
Savannah calling Nancy a yenta = possible Jewish Savannah!??
Wade and Savannah breaking up because of Wade going to jail
Confirmation that Jackson was a Bad Man with no family values 📝📝👀👀
Wade was originally going to be a more distant cousin
Wade using the Grey Lady's grave to throw shade at Clara
Young Clara being so severely traumatized and convinced her aunt and uncle didn't want her DEAR GOD
Wade waiting for his own death :( FROWNY FACE :(
Addison's sad comment on Clara's parenting
Harper's super dramatic metaphor for her and Clara's fallen sisterhood that breaks my heart every time
Harper explaining her affinity for books... (#supportyourlocallibraries) Also re-contextualizes her "I don't function well in reality" comment a bit
Colton (righteously) yelling at his parents/his parents wanting him to ask for money from the grieving Thorntons lmaooo
Colton doing some SHADY SHIT that I don't even know what it is but good for him
Jessalyn dramatically telling someone they can't keep running away. Originally assumed it was Clara, but since Colton literally tries to run away, I think it was actually meant to be a confrontation between Jess and Colton
Addison somehow getting scared off of helping Nancy
Jessalyn realizing Clara's controlling behavior is part of a much bigger and more disturbing pattern (delicious)
(Kind of suggests Wade was originally going to be more estranged, too? Since in-game dialogue has Wade saying he and everyone is close to Jessalyn, but this bit of dialogue suggests Clara tried to keep them away from each other.)
Possible Wade & Harper scene?
Wade saving Nancy
Nancy letting Clara stay in the fire all suicidalcore OR possibly, based on the prev dialogue, HARPER doing it and Nancy coming to save Clara
"I CHANGED MY MIND" ruh roh!!!
Possibly Nancy listening to Clara burning alive and just
