I will never forget the car ride where my dad was trying to convert me back to Catholicism, after I'd told him that I was actively pursuing Judaism.
He was waving one hand, when he professed- "Joy! You have to look for the signs from G-d! From the universe! Everything pulling you back in- back home!"
Then, the car rattled, crapped out, and rolled to a stop on the curb. Literally right outside was a synagogue with a huge Magen David stain glass window.
We were stuck there for an awkward two hours

Any advice for someone who has looked into Judaism for years, but is too scared of approaching a rabbi or community due to fear of being fetishy (like “oh I just think judaism is so cool! *oggles*)
(First and last ask of this kind)

As of yesterday, I'm officially Jewish!! After years of work, it's a privilege to finally be a part of the Jewish People. I cannot even put into words how it feels, all the love I carry in my heart.
I have nothing else poetic to say. I love you all and I love who we are

I love being involved with Jewish life on campus because I got to miss class once for “religious reasons” and the religious reason was that I went to this sick Purim drag show.

Something that you're warned about but don't fully expect as a Jewish convert is just how melancholy Jeiwshness can be.
You know (hopefully) the facts of the Shoah, about pogroms, etc. but until you become immersed in the community, you can't really grasp just how hollow they'll make you, how you'll yearn for a life none of your family ever knew, how seeing that 85% of all Yiddish speakers were murdered in the Shoah puts a pit in your stomach.
And this is a melancholy that you choose.

as someone who was born into Judaism, I always love hearing the stories of Jewish converts. They're always so passionate about their Judaism and it makes me smile inside and out. it takes so much heart and love for our culture to undertake such a long and challenging journey and see it through to its completion. it's truly beautiful.
any Jewish converts reading this, I hope this brings you a smile. and if you have a story to share about your journey home to the Tribe, I'd love to hear it.

Well it’s time for the most important post, and I hope y’all will support me.
Might be surprising for everyone here - but I’m not Jewish. My great grandfather was an American Jew, but he married an Armenian woman, thus I’m just a 4th generation. I was reblogging Jewish things in a neutral way, as an ally.
But today is a day when I finally decided that yes, I’m going to convert to Judaism.
I’m learning, and when I will feel like I’m ready, I will go to the local Reform Judaism community for an actual learning and conversion.
So, please! If your blog is about (Reform) Judaism, or you’re converting/thinking about conversion, feel free to comment/reblog so I can follow you, or share your favorite blogs with me!
I hope we will be friends. ✡️

Inhale some of that Jewish Water.
I DID IT.
I have been before the beit din and dunked in the Mikvah!
I also got to nerd out with one of the Rabbi and talk about Jewish Comics. It was win win for everyone!
I'm so emotional and exhausted but here we are! Officially Jewish!
