What are the A’s in China’s Tourism Ratings?
Trusted China Travel Agency
Tourism is a considerable part of the Chinese economy, contributing more than 120 billion in 2016 US dollars, which is slightly more than 10% of China’s GDP.  The tourism industry in China is expected to generate 5.5 trillion Yuan by 2020.
If you're ready to explore the scores of astonishing cultural and natural sites in China, book your trip with the experts at China Tour: call us at (888) 878-1777 to get started, or check out our affordable tour packages!
Because China contains myriad attractions that bring countless tourists every year, the government has gone out of its way to regulate and oversee them in order to preserve China’s cultural legacy, and ensure that visitors can appreciate them in safety.
In doing so, the Chinese government separates tourist attractions into 5 grades from "A" to "AAAAA" (or “5A”), the latter embodying the highest degree of quality.  As of 2013, 155 attractions across China have been awarded a rating based on this system.
Tourism is big business in China, meaning the government has a vested interest in providing travelers from all across China and around the world with a highly-positive experience.
The current Tourist Attraction Rating Categories of China (旅游景区质量等级) system was outlined by the China National Tourism Administration (later to become the Ministry of Culture and Tourism) in 1999 and was revamped by 2004.  Historical and cultural sites are judged in terms of their cleanliness, safety, ease of transportation, shopping, sanitation, and other criteria.
The first group of 66 5A tourist attractions was certified by the Chinese government in 2007, and by 2017, 20 more were added.  The government regularly inspects their attractions, sometimes going so far as devaluing sites that fail to maintain the high standards of a 5A site.

What’s Your Favorite Place?
Don’t Just Love to Travel, Love the World
President Jim Bridgeforth and CEO Tom Cummins do their best to advocate for the environment’s preservation. So we thought providing some info on the beauty of the environment would inspire incentive for sustainable practices. There are so many beautiful places in the world. President Jim Bridgeforth and CEO Tom Cummins are the most equip to validate the value of the world, as they have seen a lot of it! Previous blogs list theories and facts on global warming, energy conservation tips, green energy innovations etc. But some of the real wonders in the world that we have yet to share are completely natural. Winter vacation is approaching so it is really time to start planning! Jim Bridgeforth wants to share some great ideas on what to do for your winter vacation. Jim Bridgeforth hopes to exemplify why the woods are important for more then just paper and production.
  Everyone’s Foreign to Someone
No where better to start then “Yellowstone National Park. After all  Yellowstone was the very first natural park in the world; labeled as the largest volcanic area and for the famous geysers” (Minube 2014). Many know of the endless grand cannon and it’s bands of space and scenery. The European paradise KrKa National Park in Croatia is almost too good to be true. “Even with clear blue oceans and free flowing breathtaking waterfalls KrKa National Park can’t compete with the Brazilian Iguazu National Park” (Minube 2014). Iguazu National Park In Argentina Brazil is easily the most amazing waterfall park in the world.  Let’s not leave out  Jiuzhaigou Valley National Park in China; with similar flowing attributes, but also providing much more then falling water as a site. “Brilliant green forestry and leaf changing seasons” (Minube, 2014) showing all the colors of the world and imagination in this Chinese fairy tale.
Where Do You Want To Go?
Are you up for a trip to the mountains? If you are make sure to stop in at Jasper National Park in Canada, don’t hault at the Rockies. Jasper Park is wide, long and full of embraceable nature. Good luck Staying warm in the Torres del Paine in Chile. While you gaze upon the long distance of glaciers, know that you will probably never see anything else like it. Looking for something a little more rugged but calm? Stay in the UK near Wales so you can check out Snowdonia National Park, as within this park is one one of the coolest lakes to check out and a really great community too!
          Flat Doesn’t Mean Boring
Flat Lands is you desire? Well we recommend  Los Roques Archipelago, in Venezuela in the summer or visit Africa’s Chitwan National Park during this coming cold season. You could travel to the Komodo National Park, Indonesia and experience some old dangerous friends of the food chain, the Komodo dragon. Want to build a sand castle or play in the greens? Well for a gritty adventure you can check out Namib-Naukluft National Park. “Although the sand dune that is as high as the skyscraper doesn’t exactly qualify for flat lands, this park had to be mentioned” (Minube, 2014)! Or if you need your fill of atmospheric greens then get a salty taste of the everglades in the tips of Florida.
          Keep In Touch
From Florida beauties to foreign magnificence, there are sites in every corner of the world. Keep in touch so President Jim Bridgeforth and CEO Tom Cummins can keep giving you tips on how to keep this world a very beautiful place.

“I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours..”
Henry David Thoreau
Embarking on a three week backpacking trip across China has been absolutely epic, I really hope you enjoy following my journey and if you are planning to visit any of these places, hopefully my posts will give you some inspiration!
Destination 1: Chengdu, Sichuan
I arrive at my hotel late afternoon and I’m instantly greeted by the lovely reception staff, they show me to my room and after having a quick power nap, I set off to explore my surroundings. I thought I would try and squeeze in as much as possible as I only had two days in Chengdu.
My first stop was the Buddhist Wenshu Yuan Monastery. This is the largest Buddhist Monastery in the north of the town, it was initially built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), if you ever get the opportunity to visit, I would seriously recommend visiting this place! It feels so peaceful amongst the bustling streets of Chengdu. After exploring the magical walls of this temple, I decided to rest at a traditional Chinese tea house, guarded by bonsai trees and cherry blossoms, I found a spot and sipped on my jasmine green tea whilst surrounded by absolute peace and serenity (occasionally disrupted by locals asking to take photographs!)
Fresh jasmine tea!
delicious!
bonsai trees
peaceful music playing in the background whilst enjoying tea 🙂
Catching the Monks on their way to prayers
Dusk began to creep upon the City, so it was time to go back to the hotel and rest up for what was going to be a super busy day…I was going to visit the Panda Park!!
I decided to leave early to avoid the long line of tourists. Arriving promptly at 8am, I’m let into the sanctuary. It was a spacious park with lots of green land, so plenty of bamboo available!
I spent most of the day here (as you would!). I was really impressed at how well the pandas were looked after, most of them have an assigned worker to ensure they are washed and fed regularly. They all chomp on bamboo the majority of the time, the baby pandas were so cute and really curious little creatures, constantly exploring their surrounding, climbing up and down trees and of course…sleeping!!!
Panda Park…ticked off the bucket list! 🙂
My time in Chengdu was short but sweet, I retreat back to the hotel and prepare to travel to my next destination…Jiuzhaigou Valley, deep withing the Tibetan mountains, which I’ll be posting about in my next blog!

As I was sitting in my room, bored out of my mind and not quite yet ready to start studying physics, I decided to finally clean up my room/treasure-hunt in my closet. I found my old camera card from a few years ago, and there are some pretty interesting photos I took from my travels. Here are a few from China from the summer of 2013.
The gallery below is from Jiuzhaigou, China. Jiuzhai Valley is locally known as Jiuzhaigou (Chinese for “Nine Village Valley”) and is a national park located in the Min Shan mountain range, Northern Sichuan in South Western China. The clear blue lakes in the pictures below are a defining characteristic of the park, which, in 1992, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Venice of China.
Jiuzhaigou is, hands down, one of the prettiest places in China.
Not entirely sure what this is…but it sure is pretty.
Another waterfall.
Mini-waterfall!
This is about the bluest water you’ll ever see in China.
Later that summer, I stopped by Singapore for about a week. We stayed at Sentosa, an island-resort, and translates to peace and tranquility” in Malay. It’s a nice place if you ever go, and the food is a wonderful mix of Chinese-Singaporean flavors. Although the entire country’s not too big (714.3 square kilometres), it has a little bit of everything — large cities, small towns, beautiful beaches and island resorts.
This is a thing. An angry bird cable car. This connects the island of Sentosa to the main island.
The beaches are gorgeous and clean.
As far as you can go…
Singapore from a bird’s-eye view.
Another bird’s-eye view.
Singapore does have the feel of a Chinatown at some places.
This is the boat hotel. At the top, there is a pool with walls that are see-through glass. Basically, you’re swimming and you can see the city underneath you.
I definitely have photos from my trip to Switzerland last year, so if I find those (and have time), I’ll have to upload those, too! :)
