So Syd plays piano right? Out of curiosity, does she prefer that kind of like classical music then? or what’s her musical genre preference (if she has one)
She likes classical but only on piano. She doesn't really listen to it for funsies. Her favorite composer being: Johann Nepomuk Hummel. Had to look back at the study for that one lol.

OTD in Music History: Historically important composer, pianist, and pedagogue Carl Czerny (1791 - 1857) dies in Vienna. Although he is best known today as the bane of piano students, Czerny was one of the most important musicians of the 19th Century -- in fact, he is arguably the "father" of modern pianism! Czerny studied piano with Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) (who held him in very high regard) and he also knew and was influenced by both Muzio Clementi (1752 - 1832) and Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778 - 1837). After opening up his own piano studio in Vienna at the age of 15, Czerny spent several decades teaching a long string of illustrious pupils including Sigismond Thalberg (1812 - 1871), Stephen Heller (1813 - 1888), Theodore Kullak (1818 - 1882), Theodore Leschetizky (1830 - 1915)... and, most importantly, the young Franz Liszt (1811 - 1886). Liszt always held Czerny in very high regard, and dedicated his revised set of "Transcendental Etudes" to Czerny in 1852. Liszt certainly never forgot that it was thanks to Czerny that he had met his lifelong idol, Beethoven. After 1840, Czerny devoted himself primarily to composition. He was incredibly prolific, and published nearly 1,000 works -- almost none of which are heard today. The exception are his series of pedagogic piano studies (including the "School of Velocity" and the "School of Virtuosity"), which remain ubiquitous in piano studios across the world. Czerny also left behind an important essay on performing the piano sonatas of Beethoven, entitled "On The Proper Performance Of All Beethoven's Works For Piano" (1846), for which Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897) had unreserved praise. PICTURED: A very finely produced c. 1820s/1830s “lifetime” engraving of Czerny, published by the Julius Schuberth music publishing house in Hamburg and showing Czerny as he appeared at the height of his fame.
