Cardan getting over his drinking and drug addiction from the first book into just drinking moderately in the last book is possibly one of the greatest "show and tell" examples in tfota.

Is noone gonna talk about the fact that in tcp, in that scene where Jude gets poisoned by the faerie fruit, they see 7 shooting stars and Jude describes that at as dozen deaths. I haven't heard anyone mention that that could have been foreshadowing what was to come later during the coronation as 6 Fae died then (Elowyn, Eldred, Dain, Rhyia, Caelia and Taniot) and also Valerian earlier on which makes 7 deaths like prophecied.
I thought it was really clever, nothing a reader would have really paid attention too.

Did anyone else get this little hint?
The quotes are referring to Jude's childhood stuffed animals, a cat and a snake. THE SNAKE IS CARDAN.
AND THEN GUESS WHAT
The snake that doesn't want to be left behind 😭

The way half the main characters in the cruel prince were at some point attracted to Jude is wild but SO girlboss of her. Like Locke had actual feelings for her, Valerian was lusting over her, I suspect that The Ghost did too for a time, and I don’t even need to say Cardan who was actually disgusted by how often he thought of her back when they had the enemies thing going on. Like no wonder she pissed them off, my girl Jude was KILLING it

Scrolling through tumblr rn, and seeing all the cruel prince posts, I realized something. For when Jude was locked up underwater, it must of been so crazy. Like she had to act like she could be enchanted and controlled by the people around her so she wouldn’t seem like a threat. Like I remember reading that she had to kiss Balekin??? that must of been awful, and I doubt she ever told cardan about that, I doubt she’d ever want anyone to know what she had to go through. That just kills me everytime.

"Cardan looks taken aback. Or possibly I spoke so fast he's not even sure what I said. 'You need not say it out of pity,' he says finally, with great deliberateness. 'Or because I was under a curse. I have asked you to lie to me in the past, in this very room, but I would beg you not to lie now.'"
