something that perplexes me is how many people play the zero escape games with english voices. most of the people I've watched play it have opted for the english dub, so I've heard it more times than I've heard the japanese dub (which is what I've used every time I've played the games). and while I mostly think that the english dub is fine for the most part, I still find it a bit lackluster. rena strober in particular reads all of akane's lines in a way that sounds stiff, emotionless, and artificial - which is a problem, given her significance to the series! I do like some of the english voice cast; evan smith does a great job as junpei, and I actually adore cindy robinson's performance as zero III even more than tarako's. overall, the english dub has pros and cons; it's acceptable, but leaves a lot to be desired for me personally.

the real problem for me, though, was the lack of attention to detail in maintaining consistency. in vlr, you get to hear a recording from the mars mission test site where diana speaks. notably, she has the same voice actress as luna in both versions - mamiko noto in japanese and laura bailey in english. this is meant to be intriguing by making you as the player wonder why they sound so similar! but it seems to me that the director of the english dub likely interpreted this as a cost-cutting measure and instructed laura bailey to speak in a lower voice, which severs the connection a little. and then, because diana's english voice actress in zero time dilemma changed to eden riegel, the connection is severed altogether! in the same vein, k is voiced by daisuke ono in japanese, and ono then goes on to voice sigma in zero time dilemma, which makes perfect sense considering they should, by all logic, have the same voice. however, in english, k is voiced by travis willingham, and sigma is voiced by matt mercer. why!? it's just frustrating to witness decisions like this in a series that has such remarkable consistency in japanese.

　I'd really want a skater, who will become a future for South-East Asia to appear [in real-world] in near future, and Phichit was created as such a skater [in YoI world]. Among all South-East Asia countries, we chose Thailand as his home country, so he wouldn't be compared with any real-life skater. I had an opportunity to go to Bangkok and talk with Thai people, but I've notice that a lot of people have this "hair parted on one side" hairstyle... so this is the hairstyle I chose for Phichit (laugh). I think I didn't have any problems with designing this character. Eyes with large, dark irises, strong eyebrows, quite a small built, very stylish with a taste for Harajuku-style fashion. Later on, we discovered that his fashion taste partially matches his VA, Ono Kensho-san's fashion taste (laugh). It was, of course, a coincidence.

　His choreography has this oriental feel to it, and it was tough to portray that. It contains moves that are paradoxical - he is moving, but in the middle of this movement he stops and strikes a pose. One example of this is the moment, when he moves his head in that mechanical-like manner.

Do you want to watch a movie that has a weak plot, iconic characters that were barely used, random AF ideas and stunning visuals? Then, this movie is for you. I found the film to be absolutely gorgeous, but the rest felt very generic. The story is very predictable and boring. Then, you have so many awesome characters, but only Batman & Joker have the most screen time, so seeing all of other characters felt lie a tease. There was so much potential in this film but sadly it was all wasted.”
