i was watching the movie again and went "...wait a second" at the designs of The Gammas (or Gamma Mu Mu). i looked up trivia and couldn't find anything to confirm (or deny, i guess) my thoughts, so i guess?? this is a theory? (someone with a DVD/Bluray version, please check the Special Features for me to see if anyone mentions this. i have no idea) i'm surprised i haven't seen this parallel thrown around more but yeah, i think im onto something if this is a new thought in the Goofy Movies fanbase lol

sorry for the low quality of the image, ill type the transcript up in the post to make up for how blurry my text is. there just isn't a lot of pictures of these guys, period, much less that i could find of this specific scene so i could make my point

but yeah, my theory is The Gammas are all based off the classic villains in the Mickey-Donald-Goofy multiverse (plus Bigfoot, but i know many people noticed the redhead member of the Gammas is just "a shaved down version of Bigfoot" from the first "A Goofy Movie" lol)

(also, im a novice at learning about this extended Mickey-Donald-Goofy multiverse, im still new to the Carl Banks comics and havent seen all the media. so forgive me if im wrong at any point and please kindly correct me ♡)

so there's:

named: Bradley Uppercrust III — no idea if he is based off of anyone

named: Tank — based off of: Pete / Peg Leg Pete (but make him unrelated to PJ, basically) (hence, why he looks the least like his source, if im correct. he has a shirtless scene where he's revealed to have a farmer's tan, that i think you could argue is a very subtle nod that would have been slightly closer to a Pete-like coloration. but yeah, if im right, they had to make Tank's pallette lighter ao he wouldn't be mistaken as a relative of PJ's)

unnamed bearded member — based off of: the main Beagle Boys trio (Babyface) (Bigtime) (if you don't know the lore: there's a lot of Beagle Boys as the gag is they're a BIG family, but the main trio in the original "Ducktales" show is the first set of parentheses. the second set of parentheses is their names in the classic Ducktales comics. both the original "Ducktales" show and the reboot "Ducktales" show features both sets of the trio/s though. though the Carl Barks version of the comics preferred the route of "they go by their prison-numbers rather than their names". also, inbetween the two "Ducktales" TV shows, a lot of Disney media just merged the two trios into one kind-of-amorphous trio, as far as i can tell, like with "Mickey, Donald, and Goofy: the Three Muskateers". but still, they're part of a HUGE family who tend to be clones of said main trio. but i digress. they're a confusing family lmao rip)

unnamed member wearing sunglasses — based off of: the main Beagle Boys trio (Bankjob) (Bouncer) (i like to think his sunglasses (and i guess also the unnamed bearded member's glasses, but mainly these sunglasses) as a homage to the Beagle Boys' black masks lol)

named: Slouch — based off of: the main Beagle Boys trio (Bugle) (Burger) (also: im entirely banking off differentiating Bugle/Burger to Slouch and Bankjob/Bouncer to sunglasses-guy on how Bugle is commonly reffered to as "a hipster" and i personally associate fedoras with a similar type of crowd. i could have those mixed up tho, idk, neither of these guys even have any lines lol but i do like the idea that maybe the fedora is flipped like that as a reference to the Beagle Boys' billed caps? idk, that might be a stretch) (i would also like to mention i hc these guys are The Beagle Brats now in college-age, who are an unnamed trio that goes by "1, 2, and 3" in the comics but, from what i can tell, that the Beagle Brats in general (not 1, 2, and 3 specifically) were first seen(?) in the "Ducktales" original show (who also have a v small cameo in the reboot) that were meant to parallel the triplets Huey and Dewey and Louie; these specific ones im talking about the nephews of the general-amorphous-main-trio of Beagle Boys, but it is possible to call any Beagle Boy who is young a Beagle Brat. but, yeah, i have no basis for why i think Slouch and the other two are specifically the Beagle Brats 1, 2, and 3; that's entirely headcanon)

unnamed member that's a redhead — based off of: Bigfoot in "A Goofy Movie" (again, i know a lot of people caught this one lmao)

unnamed member that has black hair — based off of: Mortimer Mouse (who was once also known aa Montmorency Rodent/Rodawn, but they've been retconned into being the same character by now, but that'a a tangent.) (if you don't know the lore: Mortimer is a bit complicated to describe? but the tldr is that he's basically Mickey's love-rival for Minnie. to go more in depth though, uh, he's more wealthy, usually, and claims to be "in love" with Minnie Mouse but is also a jerk and she generally does not have any interest in him (well, unless the plot the writer wants includes a love-triangle). Pete is usually considered a more recognizable villain, so Mortimer rarely shows up, esp since Pete can be easily be written as also harboring feelings for Minnie. so sometimes shows re-write Mortimer from this personality so he is more distinct, sometimes as a toxic friend of Mickey's or overall bad influence but well-intentioned; so the character has some flexibility. but i know him best, as do many others, via his "House of Mouse" recurring role where he'd show up just to try to break Mickey and Minnie up or otherwise flirt with any female guests. i think he works well in competition wirh Pete, who has more of a Goliath-and-David relationship with Mickey when Mickey and Pete are antagonistic, as Mortimer is an antagonist that is just as clever and capable as Mickey (if not more so, since he is clever, competent, and generally wealthy enough to have more resources than Mickey) but does not have Mickey's sincerity or good intentions. though i dont mind how kid shows re-write him either, i think toxic friends and bad influences are good lessons for children to learn. i like Mortimer being a frenemy who has good intent but bad follow-through lol but anyway, thank you for allowing me this debatably-overexplanation of Mortimer since he's my favorite and also, uh, the only one here where #1 he isnt in the Goofy Movie series and ergo may not be known to others, #2 has a consistent personality beyond "bad guy in story" i can talk about unlike the Beagle Boys trio/s and their huge extended family of might-as-well-be-clones, and #3, again, he's my favorite if you couldnt tell lol) (also, i do think you could argue this unnamed character's quiff is a nod to Mortimer's mouse-ears tho, since there's a curve and all. and then the idea he has some stubble as a possible ref to Mortimer's whiskers is hilarious to me if my theory has water and he was intentionally designed after Mortimer lmao)

anyway, i apologize again if this idea has been discussed before. i really did try to google if anyone was spreading the same idea that The Gammas are just a fun College AU-Variant of these guys already

Logos and Pathos (AOS Edition) Chapter Three

AOS! Spock x Empath! Reader

Chapter Three: After the Academy

Summary: (Y/N) and Spock have become friends and run a simulation for a very strange cadet, Cadet Kirk.

“Cadet Kirk is trying the Kobayashi Maru again?” said (Y/N), walking towards the testing observation room with Spock. “This is the third time.”

A few years had passed since their first meeting. Spock and (Y/N) had, surprisingly, become friends. Well, it had been a surprise to everyone else, but to them, it made perfect sense. (Y/N) could sense emotions, yes, but they were very logical and intelligent. Spock respected that. And because Spock saw beyond the labels others had put on them, (Y/N) respected him. The two were known for working very well together and being an efficient, effective team.

“It appears so,” said Spock. “He still has not understood the true test of the program.”

(Y/N) sighed and shook their head. “He gets frustrated, not scared. He has the intelligence and resourcefulness to do well—after all, he started a year after Uhura but caught up—but this is the one thing he hasn’t understood yet.”

Spock nodded in agreement. “Perhaps a third loss will teach him the psychological lesson.”

“Well, psychologically speaking, I have to admit, he’s tenacious,” said (Y/N). “Not a terrible quality.”

“We shall see what other qualities he displays this time,” said Spock.

“We are receiving a distress signal from the U.S.S. Kobayashi Maru,” said Uhura, voice bored with the redundant situation she’d been put in since Kirk wanted to try the test for the third time. “This ship has lost power and is stranded. Starfleet Command has ordered us to rescue them.”

“ ‘Starfleet Command has ordered us to rescue them, Captain,’ ” said Kirk from his place on the fake bridge.

“I believe the human word for this bravado is ‘cocky,’ ” said Spock from behind the observation glass.

“That would be the common vernacular,” agreed (Y/N). “And his emotions confirm it.” They cocked their head. “Strange, though. He doesn’t seem worried about the results of this test at all.”

“Could it be he’s desensitized to failure now?” said Spock, considering the options.

“His had less anxiety the second time he took the test, just more frustration,” said (Y/N). “But he has absolutely none now. That doesn’t seem likely. He should still have some worry about failing.”

“Hm.” Spock laced his fingers and gazed at the test as it continued. “Let me know if his feelings change.”

“Do you think he’s up to something?” asked (Y/N).

“I do not jump to conclusions. I need more facts to make any educated hypotheses,” said Spock.

“You’re making a guess,” said (Y/N).

“No, it’s an educated hypothesis,” said Spock.

(Y/N)’s smiled in amusement and shook their head.

“Two Klingon vessels have entered the neutral zone and are locking weapons on us,” said Bones—real name Leonard McCoy—another cadet in his final year and a friend of Kirk.

“That’s okay,” said Kirk confidently.

“That’s okay?” repeated Bones incredulously.

“Yeah, don’t worry about that,” said Kirk, leaning back in his chair.

“Did he say, ‘don’t worry about it?’ ” said another test operator.

“Is he not taking the simulation seriously?” said a third.

“He’s…amused,” said (Y/N), blinking. “And happy.” They crossed their arms. “Put that together, and he’s gloating.”

“Gloating?” repeated Spock, furrowing his brow ever-so-slightly.

(Y/N) and Spock had the same thought. What could Kirk be gloating about?

“Three more Klingon warbirds decloaking and targeting out ship.” Bones looked back at Kirk and sarcastically added, “I don’t suppose this is a problem, either.”

“They’re firing, Captain,” warned another cadet.

“Alert medical Bay to prepare to receive all crew members from the damaged ship,” said Kirk, calm and nonchalant as ever.

“And do you expect us to rescue them when we’re surrounded by Klingons, ‘Captain?’ ” pointed out Uhura.

Kirk just spun around in his chair. “Alert Medical.”

“Our ship is being hit. Shields at sixty percent,” warned Bones.

“I understand,” said Kirk.

“Well, should we, I don’t know, fire back?” said Bones.

“No,” said Kirk, pulling out an apple and taking a bite.

“Of course not,” muttered Bones.

The lights on all the displays flickered. (Y/N) frowned. That wasn’t in the program. Spock had it running smoothly. Any glitches were when he improved it and tested it himself. For cadets, it was efficient and timed to perfection.

“What is this? What’s going on?” wondered the confused test operators.

“Spock, is this a new part of the test? Equipment failure?” said (Y/N).

“I would have informed you beforehand. You know that,” said Spock.

“I do,” said (Y/N). “But then that leaves us the question…what is going on?”

The computers came back on, and the cadets looked around in confusion before focusing on the readouts (Uhura was the first to concentrate, which (Y/N) noticed proudly).

“Arm photons. Prepare to fire on the Klingon warbirds,” said Kirk.

“Yes, sir,” said a cadet.

“Jim, their shields are still up,” said Bones.

Kirk took a bite of his apple. “Are they?” His amusement grew.

Bones turned to look at his readout, and his face fell into an expression of shock. “No, they’re not.”

“Fire on all enemy ships,” ordered Kirk cheerfully. “One photon each should do. Let’s not waste ammunition.”

“Target locked and acquired on all warbirds. Firing,” said another cadet.

On the displays, the Klingon warbirds exploded as they were hit by photons. Kirk mimed pistols as he chewed his apple.

“All ships destroyed, Captain,” said Uhura in a mix of being impressed, frustrated, and shocked.

Kirk stood up. “So, we have managed to eliminate all enemy ships, no one onboard was injured, and the successful rescue of the Kobyashi Maru crew is underway.” He took another bite of apple and looked at the test operators smugly.

“How the hell did that kid beat your test?” said an operator, turning to question the programmer himself.

“I do not know,” said Spock.

(Y/N) didn’t need to sense his emotions to know he was frustrated. Spock didn’t like not knowing.

“It isn’t possible to beat your test. It’s designed to demonstrate failure,” said (Y/N).

“And yet Cadet Kirk did,” said Spock. “I don’t believe there is a flaw in the current program, but I must investigate every possibility.” He was running through the code as they spoke. “There.” He tapped on the code. “A subroutine. Recently installed.”

“I suspect—hypothesize—it was by Kirk,” said (Y/N). “He wasn’t surprised by the change in the test and wasn’t worried beforehand. That suggests he knew about it.” They crossed their arms. “It was clever, but it’s cheating.”

“Indeed,” said Spock, nodding.

Between his discovery of the subroutine and (Y/N)’s deductions—which made logical sense even from their empathic observations—they had all the evidence they needed to convene a hearing. Spock was fortunate to have (Y/N) as his partner in his work. Their skill and hard work made everything easier. Better.

“We should go and submit our claim, then,” said (Y/N), turning to leave.

“(L/N),” said Spock. “Thank you for your assistance. You did not need to stay after the test while I examined the code, but you helped my conclusions with your observations.”

“Of course, Spock,” said (Y/N), smiling. Their chest warmed at Spock’s thanks. “You’re my friend. I wanted to support you since people were doubting your work. Wrongfully, but still.”

“Your support was appreciated,” said Spock, nodding.

“It was no problem,” said (Y/N), smiling. “But Spock, come on, I’ve told you to call me ‘(Y/N).’ ”

“It isn’t formal,” said Spock.

“We’re friends,” said (Y/N). “That isn’t formal.” They grinned and started the walk out of the room.

Spock paused a moment before following. There was nothing to argue there. Spock and (Y/N) were friends.

“This session has been called to resolve a troubling matter,” said the head of the disciplinary committee, still Barnett.

This time, everyone had been called to the hearing, likely because this situation was much more egregious for the academy as a whole. Cheating was unacceptable. Cadets whispered to one another, but the murmurs quieted as the head of the committee spoke. (Y/N) sat beside Spock, reading for the hearing to begin.

“James T. Kirk, step forward,” said Barnett.

All heads went to the cadet in question, whose face fell. Kirk stood and walked down to face the committee like (Y/N) had years ago.

“Cadet Kirk, evidence has been submitted to this council suggesting that you violated the ethical code of conduct pursuant to Regulation 17.43 of the Starfleet code,” continued Barnett. “Is there anything you care to say before you begin, sir?”

“Yes, I believe I have the right to face my accuser directly,” said Kirk.

The head of committee looked at (Y/N) and Spock and nodded to them. They rose, and (Y/N) felt the ripple of surprise from those that knew of (Y/N) and Spock.

“Step forward,” said Barnett.

Spock and (Y/N) headed down to the other podium at the center of the hearing room.

“This is Commander Spock and Lieutenant Commander (L/N). They are two of our most distinguished graduates,” explained Barnett. “Commander Spock has programmed the Kobayashi Maru exam for the last four years. Lieutenant (L/N) currently works with psychics in the Academy.” He looked at Spock and (Y/N). “State your case.”

“Cadet Kirk, you somehow managed to install and activate a subroutine in the programming code, thereby changing the conditions of the test,” said Spock.

“You are undoubtedly the culprit since you requested the third test and had no surprise when the test changed. You knew it was coming from the beginning,” said (Y/N). “No nerves, no surprise.”

“Your point being?” said Kirk.

“In academic vernacular, you cheated,” said Barnett.

Kirk didn’t back down from the sharp down. “Let me ask you something I think we all know the answer to: the test itself is a cheat, isn’t it? I mean, you programmed it to be unwinnable.”

“Your argument precludes the possibility of a no-win scenario,” said Spock.

“I don’t believe in no win scenarios,” said Kirk firmly.

“Then not only did you violate the rules, but you failed to understand the principal lesson,” said Spock.

What a repartee, thought (Y/N).

“Please, enlighten me,” said Kirk.

“You of all people should know, Cadet Kirk, a captain cannot cheat death,” said Spock. The reference to Kirk’s father was clear.

Kirk swallowed, and (Y/N) felt the pressure of profound grief wave over them.

“I of all people?” he said.

“Your father, Lieutenant George Kirk, assumed command of his vessel before being killed in action, did he not?” said Spock.

Spock, that was a low blow, thought (Y/N), giving him a look.

Spock noticed it and avoided their gaze. He never liked when they were upset at him.

“I don’t think you like the fact that I beat your test,” said Kirk, his sadness sharpening to anger.

“Cadet Kirk,” said (Y/N). “You didn’t beat the test. You failed to learn its lesson. Three times now. It’s not about beating it or failing it.”

“What is it about then?” said Kirk.

“Fear,” said (Y/N) simply. “A captain must learn to face fear and handle themself accordingly. You have to learn to control yourself, your ship, and your crew even when afraid.”

Silence fell over the room as Kirk processed those words.

“Excuse me, sir,” said an officer, walking in from outside the chamber. He broke the quiet tension. He walked up with a report to Barnett.

Worry clouded his aura, and (Y/N) frowned. Barnett’s emotions changed to concern and confusion, and (Y/N) tensed. Something was going on.

“We have received a distress call from Vulcan,” said Barnett.

(Y/N)’s eyes widened, and Spock straightened. His expression didn’t change, but they had known him long enough to see he was concerned. It was his home.

“With our primary fleet engaged in the Laurentian system, I hereby report all cadets to report to Hangar One immediately,” said Barnett. He stood. “Dismissed.”

Everyone followed suit and rushed towards Hangar One. Spock was the first one to begin moving, and (Y/N) hurried after him.

“Are you alright?” they asked.

“I must ensure my assigned ship is well-staffed for the trip to Vulcan,” said Spock. “Then I—we—can handle the distress call.”

(Y/N) nodded. He was focusing on the issue at hand. That was Spock’s way of dealing with problems.

“Whatever ship I’m on, I’ll do the same. We’ll be able to face this,” said (Y/N) assuredly.

“You’ll be on the Enterprise as well,” said Spock. “You’re efficient and skilled. You’ll be needed.” And if (Y/N) was with him, if there was trouble, he could keep an eye on them. He didn’t want them to be put in harm’s way where he couldn’t help them.

“And I’ll do my best,” said (Y/N), smiling at Spock. “I can help with staffing so it’s not all on your shoulders.”

Spock nodded. He was glad (Y/N) always concentrated on the tasks at hand. They were an excellent officer. “You handle communications and command. I’ll handle medical staff and science officers.”

“Spock,” said (Y/N), pausing. He stopped, and (Y/N) touched his arm gently, supportively. “Whatever’s happening, I’m with you, alright? I’m here to help.”

Spock looked at their hand. There was a subtle warmth from their hand on his arm, and although he knew they would never use their abilities on him without permission, he felt calmer knowing they were there.

He nodded. “Thank you, (Y/N).”

(Y/N) smiled. “Of course, Spock.”

I'm writing another AOS fic (WHY?!) and that means it's time for another

✨ plot hole rant ✨

To me, the part of the first movie that makes the least sense is Pike going over to the Narada. For so many reasons.

1. If Nero wanted a random Starfleet captain in order to get information on Earth's defenses, he wouldn't have shot up every ship that showed up in Vulcan's orbit. He'd have destroyed all but one, and then demanded or just captured the captain of that ship. He didn't know the Enterprise was going to be warping in five minutes later! He would naturally think that was the whole fleet.

2. If he did, Pike would have no reason to agree. First, he wrote his dissertation on this, he knows that's what Robau did and that Robau got killed and it didn't save the Kelvin. Just a general rule of thumb, if your enemy really wants something, don't give it to them. It was the ONE thing they could have denied Nero, and he gives it up.

3. Okay, so let's say it was absolutely necessary to provide cover for Kirk and Sulu's space jump. That still doesn't mean he actually has to give himself up when he gets there. He could have rammed, self destructed, come out shooting, anything else.

4. It's also incredibly stupid to have single factor authentication on your entire planetary defense grid, and then go ahead and store the password inside the head of EVERY captain. Some captains are chumps! They get captured sometimes! This is not a secure place to keep the data which ten billion lives rely on! It would make more sense to require human confirmation at the very least. A dude who can look out the window and go "yeah I see that you look like the Enterprise, as well as having the right 1000-digit transponder codes for today" before taking the shields down.

5. If you DID have a system like that, it would become that more vital not to give up your captain to anyone, for any reason. Captains are taught to resist torture, but nothing's perfect. This is cyanide-pill-in-your-cheek level hot information. For Pike to give himself up, knowing he's got the key to Earth's defenses in his mind, is incredibly irresponsible. Especially given he can SEE this guy is actively drilling holes in a different planet.

6. Also it does really make you wonder what Vulcan's planetary defenses are like. Even if they were dumb enough to have it all running on a single password, Vulcans can resist the mind sifter so I'd bet on them over a Ceti eel or whatever. Plus if there were an encounter like that, that would have given them time to send a subspace message like DON'T WARP OVER HERE WITH YOUR SHIELDS DOWN or something, just a thought. But really I don't think it occurred to the writers that planets other than Earth have defenses, because the movie does not treat Vulcan like a real planet. Vulcans are pacifists who carry a big stick, they'd have defenses.

This has been my rant for the day. I just can't believe the Earth defenses have less robust security than I need to log into zoom. Really, a freaking miracle nobody blew it up before.

wait admins i just got this pretty indulgent AU idea (as a system and morden + player fan)!! sorry about long yapping and story rewriting mess

morden and player, rather than being two separate people in separate bodies, are a part of a system. player wakes up in dawn island with no memories and morden (a headmate) is the one holding onto the initial memories and keeping the memories away from them. they're pretty much a system trying to figure shit out in war seas

(in this au i'm going to use morden/player to refer to two distinct headmates doing their own things, but assume they're always physically together, since they possess the same body and stuff)

morden rows to redwake and lets player fuck around there

player fucks around and does ao storyline stuff (beating shura, iris, elius, etc.) while morden is standing there watching them from their shared headspace, trying to piece any clues about the order together

during fort talos part, morden is the one heavily fronting so they can go get the death curse. player is now watching dark seas and stuff from the headspace

the system reunites with iris at ravenna! neviro also joins them!

player/morden and iris and neviro fuck shit up in ravenna castle together. however, the matchup looks like this

iris and edward fend off the guards -> morden/player fends julian off -> neviro vs calvus -> iris joins in to help neviro -> morden/player narrowly escapes the fight from julian to help their friends out instead -> morden/player joins in to help neviro and kill calvus and get the fuck out of there asap. calvus gets fucked over by the death curse now.

during wind-row island, morden/player is heavily injured from the whole ordeal at ravenna and needs to recover for a few days.

warren keeps checking on barely-conscious morden/player bc he needs to tell them about the awakening

the point after this is heavier ao story rewrite sorry

warren trains morden/player/neviro/iris before they fuck off to nimbus, so they're prepared for whatever lies ahead. he's now a mentor to everyone.

anyways you can easily imagine warren training neviro and iris.

warren advises player to meditate and all, so they just meditate at windrow island and hear poseidon from there (i couldn't think of a good story reason why they should fuck off to three different islands just to meditate sorry). then player/morden tells everyone about going to mount othrhys

oh wait neviro goes back to ravenna first

anyways! warren and iris join morden/player to accompany them to mount othrys, however, morden/player are the only ones entering the temple

ok time to explain how their curse/magic works as a system. morden can only use death curse when he's the one fronting, while player can still use magic when they're fronting but they can't use the death curse themself. poseidon probably comments on their plurality situation and nudges them to the direction of "being able to use each other's powers". they won't be perfect at this right away but poseidon pretty much unlocks some stuff in their brain that lets them use each other's powers, they just gotta need training and synergy to pull this off properly

anyways warren leaves and player/morden + iris head off to ravenna!

during the part where the queen assigns everyone to do stuff... she assigns morden/player to join hassan, while assigning iris to go to skyhall instead

honestly i think the co-captains would know about their system situation early on

player is usually the one fronting during social situations, and morden usually fronts during urgent/dangerous situations. apart from that they talk to e/o in their headspace pretty often. near constantly.

morden is the host and the trauma holder

morden gradually and slowly tries to reveal information about their life (that player doesn't remember) to them, it's as slow as him trying to process the whole trauma at the aesir

TF Armada Alexis’s Full Name

Full disclaimer out of the way, I’ve never watched Armada. I plan to though. Also, pull up a chair. This is another long one.

Some of you know her. Some of you know a specific version of her. Whether it’s Alexis/Alexa from the anime, Alexis Garner from @itsthelass ‘s fic, Faeformers, your own, etc. During the time of the show’s run, she wasn’t given an official last name until this Almanac came out. 2010 vs. 2002 difference. Her full name is Alexis Thi Dang, confirming she’s Vietnamese. We don’t know she is full Vietnamese or half Vietnamese or what. Her design isn’t helpful.

I’ll accept Vietnamese American girls with brown hair. That were a few of my classmates in elementary school and almost every auntie I see. (Years are VERY off, but you get the point.) Good times. I don’t understand her green eyes though. Green eyes are less common than blue eyes, but genetics tend not to apply in anime/cartoons. (See Marinette’s blue eyes from the Miraculous Ladybug show. Also the fact, how Japanese characters look in anime compared to non-Japanese characters or real life Japanese people) I don’t know what eye colors her parents have, but if the green is natural, she must be at least a quarter Vietnamese. I think? I’m not doing math right now. Unless it’s a genetic mutation, but I don’t know how to tackle that. Yes, I know it’s possible for Vietnamese girls to have blue eyes. However, Google gave me one result of a Vietnamese girl with natural blue eyes, but she is one of the mountain people (ethnic minority). I should know the word for them, but I took Viet 1 some four years ago and forgotten. Other than that, all I have as evidence is this one girl I saw at my high school who has striking blue eyes and can never tell if it’s natural or not. I should’ve asked her, but her fluency and mien bac accent scared me.

I’m suspecting her green eyes are contact lenses, with prescription or not. It could be a headcanon for a fic. Do what you like with it. I edited some pictures of her with different colors below. Just to see how it’ll turn out.

You might be wondering why I’m even starting this discussion in the first place. “She’s from an old anime, don’t make a fuss.” “It’s just the color choice of the designers, whatever.” Yeah, but you know how excited I was when I read her last name? The fact I got a smidge of representation, even if it’s more Word of God than canon? The only other Asian humans we got are Sari Sumdac (kinda? Techno-organic?), Isaac Sumdac, and Miko Nakadai. There might be more I’m missing; feel free to let me know.

So where I going with all this nonsense? I want Alexis to showcase more of her Vietnamese culture.

Yeah, I know. Awful of me. Again, I’m giddy she’s Vietnamese. I know it’s impossible to show any of the Vietnamese stuff since the anime’s long over and almost nobody knows she’s Vietnamese. All I’m asking is a fanfic where it’s shown. It can be small or big. You know what, draw her in an ao dai or something. Have her eat banh cuon. I guess I should write my own things too. “If you can’t find it, make it yourself” sort of feelings.

Yeah the second they all find out about Zhanshi being pregananant, no more adventuring too far from Flower Fruit/Huaguo Mountain. And if they have to journey somewhere to fix some chaos, then Dasheng is straight up summoning his clouds and zipping over furiously. He has to be convinced to dispel Zhanshi's cloud and/or to stop carrying her whenever they have to leave the cave/home.

As for the Fruitiedads? Its a lot more hectic. Odds are they make arrangements with a certain sworn bull brother, and windy sister-in-law for them to crash at their place when the time comes, but rarely is anything that easy for them...

Smokey, looking around frantically: "Where's Master and Macaque!?" Reborn!Pigsy: "They can't be far! I gave them the rope..." Reborn!Sandy, running in frantically: "A rabbit spirit swooped in and stole Master, and the Macaque got dragged along with him!" Smokey: *glaring at Pigsy* Reborn!Pigsy: "It was a good idea at the time, ok!?"

By the time the Reborn crew are able to calm Smokey down enough to form a plan (+organize the Demon Bull couple for some babysitting), they start to notice an odd change in the weather...

The whole of India experiences an omnious black fog that intensifies the closer you are to the royal palace. Smokey and the gang (plus Red Child cus Xiao Qi was going and they wanted to follow) immediately identifies it at Liang's shadow powers acting up and zone in on the location. When they get to where Reborn!Tripitaka/Xuanzang and Liang are being kept, it's obvious that the shadow monkey has gone into labor. The whole gang *freaks* out.

Chang'e the goddess herself has to be contacted to prevent Smokey from cooking up some rabbit stew in his anger at the Jade Rabbit Spirit for putting his pregnant mate in such a stressful situation. Taiyin Xingjun is also summoned as in canon, and gets a wide-eyed look on her face when she recognises the white-furred monkey demon, and quickly leaves without saying a word.

Pigsy: "What put the fire in her pants?" Liang, groaning angirly: "Because she's technically my mother." The gang: "WHAT?!" The celestial wolf children, mumbling: "I thought that was obvious..." "Yeah, moon theme."

Unexpectedly its little Xiao Qi and his firey best-friend who summons enough magic to transport Liang towards a safe haven... a divine looking-monastery a little further west of their location.

Tripitaka, suddenly light-bodied: "Is this the Thunderclap Monastery!?!" Liang, gripping Tripitaka's hand harder: "Not important right now!" Red Child: "I'm so sorry, I panickied tried to bring you to Lady Guanyin directly! I thought she was on the Southern seas island!" Xiao Qi, clasps hands in prayer: "I pray the buddha forgives us for taking a short cut in this circumstance."

Smokey and the rest catch up quickly, and the two monkey twins end up being born in the presence of some very startled but helpful arhats and bodhisattvas. As Red accidentally confirmed, Guanyin is there and is nearly laughing at the turn of events. She quickly summons a bed and supplies so that Liang can be comfortable for the last leg of labor.

The twins are tiny fuzzy brown-furred things that make their parents let out sobbing relieved breaths at the sight of them. The present elder siblings kissing their bama and little siblings' faces in joy/pride. The monks of the monastery are just *starstruck* at the sight of the adoable babies born in their temple. Pigsy tries desperately to hide his sniffling, Sandy doesn't. Ao Lie just flies/trots around the temple in delight.

Smokey and Liang are in their own little world, and barely take notice of the Buddha himself manifesting to hand over the Sutras. Xiao Qi just buzzing with excitement the whole time.

Back on earth, The five stone-fruit-monkey babies staying with "Auntie and Uncle" (Princess Iron Fan and Demon Bull King) make a joyous chirping song. The wind informing them that not only has their youngest siblings have been born, but that Baba and their Uncles have finally reached their destination! The Demon Bull couple just shrug and think the little guys got the zoomies.

The twins get the names Lìzhī/荔枝 (lychee) and Hǎizǎo/海枣 (date), to keep with the fruity name theme.

The gang are allowed to transport Liang and the kiddos back to the Demon Bull Palace for recovery, but Guanyin explains that they still have to make the way to Chang'an to deliver the sutras. Xiao Qi loudly makes a point of saying that he asked the Buddha about the White River Turtle, so they have to visit the turtle and tell him. Red Child begs his parents to let them join in the return trip, wanting to continue travelling with Xiao Qi as long as possible.

Smokey and Liang cling to eachother for hours, just beaming with the knowledge that the Journey is coming to an end. And soon their little army of monkey princes and princesses will need to be properly introduced to the Stalwarts XD

Mirror Image

This is part of draft for the AOS Mirror!verse I started back in January 2019 when I first started writing fanfiction.

Leonard McCoy readjusted the bag hanging from his shoulder for the tenth time before punching in the code to his home for the next four years. The door slid open to reveal a simple living room with a kitchenette to one side with a short hallway that led to one of the two bedrooms and a door opposite that for the other room.

He had never particularly cared for the mild fame his family had back home, but it certainly came with its privileges. Namely, getting more of an apartment than an ordinary dorm room. Even having to share the space wouldn't be so bad since there were separate bedrooms.

Len walked down the hallway to stake his claim on the furthest room. He hadn't been particularly eager to be at the Academy, but his mother had insisted and gone through all the effort to get him in on good standings, so turning up early to make sure he got the room he wanted was a small prize.

His bags hit the ground with a dull thud when the door closed behind him. He fell back against it with a small sigh.

So this was it. A bed sat in the middle of the room. To one side a closet, to the other a bathroom, and just at his elbow a dresser. His new home.

Vaguely he wondered how Jocelyn was enjoying having the house to herself. An ache started in the middle his chest and spread from there at the thought of her. He had tried convincing his mother that a simple life, in the family clinic, with a family of his own could be an honorable thing. Besides, he needed to be there for her. He couldn't leave her alone after his father's death.

But she would hear none of it. Her father and brothers had serviced in the Imperial Fleet, and so would her son.

It was a shame that Jocelyn wasn't interested in long distance relationships. She'd handed him the divorce papers along with his acceptance letter into the Academy.

Len nearly fell backward when the door swished open behind him, but a pair of hands pushed him upright and held him steady.

"Guess I'm not the first one in the dorm."

Len turned to find his apparent roommate giving a lopsided smile and offering a hand "James Kirk, Command."

"Leonard McCoy, Medical." He shook the young man's hand firmly.

"I guess you just got here too?" James asked gesturing to the bags on the ground.

"I did," Leonard confirmed. "But I'm not moving. And you're not in command yet so don't expect me to follow any kinda orders."

James chuckled. "That almost sounded believable. I'm gonna hold you to that 'yet' part though." He hoisted his bag onto his shoulder and turned and walked away.

"Hey, Doc," James called down the hall. "Dinning hall's open, you comin'?"

Leonard wore a look of bafflement as he met his roommate in the common area. "You're James Kirk."

James arched a brow at the man. "Last time I checked, yeah. And you're Leonard McCoy. Only surviving doctor of an outbreak in Georgia last year." Len bristled at the mention of home. "You're not the only one who can run a name search, pal," James finished brusquely. "People are gonna ask about it. You'd better get used to talking about it."

"It's not their business," Len answered sharply.

"They're not gonna care. You're mildly famous for it. People are gonna talk. Especially the other med students. I've got an idea," James waggled a finger at the doctor. "Follow me."

"I know where the dining hall is, Kirk," Len rolled his eyes.

"We're not going to the dining hall. You like cheeseburgers?"

Leonard followed James across the campus and into the library. "What are we doin' here?"

"Emergency exit," James answered.

"Don't those normally set off alarms?"

"Not this one." He popped the door open and ushered Len to the outside. "Welcome to San Francisco."

Leonard arched a brow. "How do you know how to sneak off campus after only one day here?"

"Family secret," James smirked. "C'mon, let's go get dinner."

Len followed uncertainly.

"When the Empire landed on Tarsus there were nine of us that survived the execution order," James started conversationally as they headed down the sidewalk. "When I heard who was on the list, and that it included me, I pulled as many of the kids as I could. It wasn't many. But the order was to be carried out immediately so I didn't really have a lot of time. The youngest was four. I held him so he wouldn't cry when we hide with the bodies when they came through to take a count. Tom and I kept the others hidden. Tom stayed with the kids and I'd go out and scrounge for whatever food I could. It was two weeks before help came. The Empire basically recruited Tom and I right out of the hole they dug us out of. They took our kids away and shipped them out without ever telling us where they went. I still don't know where most of them went. Tom... I don't know what happened to him either. I was told he washed out. Pike tried to help him like he helped me, but he just couldn't reach him. I nearly washed out for that matter, but Pike, well, he wouldn't let me go. He took me under his wing, defended me against everyone trying to get rid of me, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him."

"Why're you tellin' me this?" Len asked wearily.

"People are going to ask what happened in Georgia. It's just gonna happen. And you're going to be expected to talk about it like it was nothing, like it was an accomplishment. Because it was. You saved a lot of lives, McCoy. But you can't sound like it affected you."

Leonard scoffed. "Sure. I only watched half the town hospital die. Who's gonna be affected by something like that?"

"The attitude is a great defense mechanism, but someone's gonna see through it and then you're gonna be in trouble."

Len halted. "What do you care anyway?" he demanded, throwing out his arms.

"Because I get it," James answered calmly.

"Oh you 'get it'?" Len scoffed incredulously.

"Yeah, I do."

"Enlighten me."

"You're angry. Here's this young kid, who doesn't know the first thing about what you went through, telling you to pretend like it was nothing. Not only that, but he has the audacity to congratulate you for surviving something you had no business surviving. And if you were honest with yourself, you probably didn't even want to survive. But here he is pretending to get it, pretending to understand. Pike did the same thing to me. Except, y'know, it was some old guy who didn't really care. And at first I hated him for it. I gave him a bloody nose for it, actually. Look, you can hate me all you want, you can even punch me for it. But I'm warning you now, the way that he warned me. You will not last here, if you let it show how it affected you. I'm not saying, 'don't be affected' that's impossible. I'm saying, 'don't let them see it'. You cannot let it show. Because if you do, they'll either kick you out, or worse. They'll let you stay and let someone else tear you apart and make an example of you." James waited a minute, hoping Leonard was taking in his words, before speaking again. "Look. We don't know each other. That makes it hard to listen to a thing I say, but I'm telling you now because Pike waited with me, and I nearly got sent away. And, yeah, maybe I'd be on a better course, but I would've lost Chris. And I don't know what I'd be without him. You're drifting. The Empire is…far from perfect, but it is an anchor. And you need that right now. Or you're gonna find yourself in worse trouble."

Leonard slumped against the wall of the shop they had stopped in front of with a sigh. "I don't even want to be here."

James arched a brow. "I would never have guessed. How'd you end up here then?"

"My mother wanted me here a long time ago. Was my plan to take over the clinic one day though, so I stayed home. I wanted to stay even more after… She needed someone to take care of her. But she started talking to my uncles who'd served and their friends... I never even filled out an application. Just got an acceptance letter in the mail and was out the door a week later."

Jim nodded slowly and began walking again. "Sounds like a rough year."

"Year to the day," Leonard agreed and fell into step next to him. "One year ago today Michael Thompson walked into the E.R. with what we thought was just an sinus infection. Six months later…" He shook his head. "Nearly every patient I'd worked with that ended up sick was dead. And two of the other doctors there were sick. Three months after that all our patients were dead and me and couple nurses were the only ones not sick. At the end of the fourth month it was all over. Me and two others survived. Everyone else who stepped into that hospital during those ten months was dead."

"Sounds like survivor's guilt."

"I minored in psychology, kid, but thanks for the eval."

"You did do a lot of good though. You know that, right?"

"I know the media only tells half the story," Len answered quietly.

Some anime salt that I’m pretty sure I’ve vented about before but I’m still really mad @ heroine tarumono/heroines run the show/whatever tf you wanna call it for taking away a huge scene from the novel.

They replaced Hiyori spraining her ankle tackling a thief for her spraining it delivering the rosettes. Just to make her fail to get into nationals.

Like, so you wanna make Hiyori fail just to dedicate a song that was already confirmed by the creators themselves that is strictly for them for her...

WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY taking away from Hiyori and Yujiro’s characters and their friendship..??

To elaborate, in the novel, there was a thief at at LIPxLIP event, and the thief was running towards Yujiro, who had his back turned. Hiyori (dressed in a panda suit) knew that Yujiro would get seriously injured, so she ran after the thief and tackled him, thus saving Yujiro from getting hurt and spraining her own ankle in the process. Afterwards, Yujiro is very angry at her and calls her reckless and goes off on her for butting in. At the end of the chapter, Hiyori apologizes because she doesn’t want to fight with him and Yujiro quietly forgives her.

This is a very powerful scene. Especially when Aizou points out to Hiyori that Yujiro isn’t angry at her, and that he’s not that type of person, which leads to another thing.

This chapter showcases the kind of person that Yujiro is. Up until now, he’s been unpredictable, impossible to figure out, no one can tell what he’s thinking or what his actions mean. This scene shows us that Yujiro shows his worry through frustration, and shows that he’s willing to forgive someone when they realize that they had the wrong idea about him.

For Hiyori, the anime took away something that made her a heroine in her own right. She was reckless, but she was also selfless and brave. And kind of dumb, but she was solely thinking about how hurt Yujiro would be if she didn’t do something. There’s something very admirable about that.

Not to mention, the entire ordeal only strengthened their friendship and made them both have a better understanding of each other.

Hiding an injury you got because of work is not selfless or brave or make her a true heroine. It’s just fucking stupid. Like, what was the point? She could have told Uchida. Or Tamura. But she kept it hidden and kept running around on it. My biggest question for the anime is: WHAT WAS THE POINT OF IT???

Why would you take good qualities away from your characters just to make them fail, especially when track was only mentioned like one time after this??? If you’re not going to make her more focused on track, then there was no point in forcing her to fail. Yeah, we got the Ao E montage, but that’s literally the most we see after she failed nationals. So I ask again, what was the point?

This was just bad writing all around.
