i would also like to contribute to the AMOMK headcanons…

when i was little, my mother used to make my father fried plantains as his everyday snack at home, because he had diabetes (his doctor gave him a strict diet). she would leave a plate of them on the coffee table for him to munch on during his TV time. but as soon as he sat on the couch, the plantains were 2/3 gone already 😂 as it turns out it was my baby sister (she was around 5 or 6, i think?) 😂 but my father just laughed, called her over, sat her on his lap and shared the remaining plantains with her with the TV on ☺️ ever since then, every time my mother fried plantains for him he’d always call all of us over to eat them together, with my baby sister sat on his lap ☺️

anyway, what i was trying to say is that Mr. Kim reminds me of my own father, so i feel like this is something that Mr. Kim himself would do where Mrs. Kim makes him something only for his cute baby boy (i’m thinking maybe Taehyung?) to steal it off his plate and so Mr. Kim just laughs it off and sits Baby Taehyung on his lap and shares whatever it is with him ☺️

this is just a headcanon, of course you don’t have to make this canon! i just felt the need to share my own childhood experience because i’ve seen a lot of people in your AMOMK asks with their own childhood stories and relating them to the AMOMK family 😅 i apologize in advance for overstepping you as the writer of this story 😣

I have to say that I relate pretty strongly, except for us, it was (is) homemade sweet potato chips (or, frankly, pretty much any of my dad's snacks, boiled peanuts, different kinds of desserts), and I was (still am) the culprit. So maybe if it's a shared experience between the two of us, maybe the Kims also---

Mrs. Kim walks back into the living room, having just washed her hands and taken off her apron. Mr. Kim finishes the last of the sweet potato chips that she has fried.

Mrs. Kim: You didn't save any for me?

Mr. Kim: There were only, like, 5 on the plate!

Mrs. Kim: I fried like 10 whole sweet potatoes!

He takes the bowl and brings it into the living room to snack while he watches TV.

Another day. Mrs. Kim has just finished baking chocolate chip cookies, but she's in the shower.

Mr. Kim: (too loud, so that everyone else in the house can hear) Thanks again, Yeobo! I'm just gonna leave this WHOLE PLATE of CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES on the KITCHEN TABLE for a second...

He turns the corner and hides. Not long after, Toddler Taehyung scampers into the kitchen and reaches up for the plate.

Mr. Kim: (jumps out) A-HA! Caught 'ya!

Toddler Taehyung, extremely startled, drops Boots to the floor and immediately begins to cry.

Mr. Kim: No, no, no, it's OK Taehyungie!

Mr. Kim scoops him up and kisses him, wiping away his tears.

Toddler Taehyung: Eommmaaa!!!

Mr. Kim: It's OK, I'm sorry I scared you, Tae-Tae! (smiling) C'mon. Let's go watch Dora and eat cookies.

Toddler Taehyung: Boos???

Mr. Kim: Uh--- (seeing Boots on the floor) Uh, yes, with Boots!

Mr. Kim bends down to let Taehyung pick Boots up. Then, Mr. Kim hands Taehyung a cookie, and Taehyung gnaws on it happily as Mr. Kim takes the plate in his free hand before heading toward the living room couch.

Aahhh, hi!! A Map of Mrs. Kims is an upcoming fic that I'm working on, based on this ask and the drabble that came from it!

The response to that drabble was really surprising and touched me in a particularly strong way. And since then, you all have kept adding to the world with your hilarious, warm-and-fuzzy questions --- which, if you'd like to read them all in chronological order, you can follow either #a-map-of-mrs-kims or #amomk because APPARENTLY mobile doesn't like dashes in the tags 😣.

You all have given me so much inspiration --- it all started from a simple but sparkling sketch of an idea, and now, I feel like the world is so vivid and complex. I have memorized the neighborhood where the Kims live. The street names with faded signs. The surrounding neighborhoods and cities. The specific parking garage Jin uses at work. Where Namjoon's classroom is. The fact that Taehyung's studio is west-facing because of the way the light slowly grows and quickly fades over the day. (Even where city hall is, in case we pop in to see the mayor, lol!) It's a much fuller map than I initially imagined, largely due to all of you. And I can't wait to share the entire map with you soon.

You've helped to build such a beautiful universe. It brings me great joy to pop in and see these asks. And I feel like it's helping me grow and evolve as a writer. I keep talking about how I've never written like this before. Let me delve a little deeper into what I mean by that: your asks inform my backstories and world-building, with some pieces making it into the fic (I swear it's coming, thanks for your patience!), and some pieces just living in my brain until someone else asks another hilarious, warm-and-fuzzy question that is related to the world in our heads, and I get to bring out more backstory. The Jin Learning to Cook drabble one is an example of that --- it's a piece of backstory that isn't going to be in the main fic, but it's a crucial piece necessary for character development. Been sitting on that for a while, and if you read closely, you learn a little bit about what's driving Mrs. Kim in her current process...
