Prompts Announcement!

First of all, thank you all for your interest! The other mods and I have discussed extensively the prompts, and have decided to have book genres and art movements as master theme for this year's Kakuzu event, in tribute to our very own Kakuzu's love for books. We don't expect anyone to make a whole baroque or symbolic painting, and your writing doesn't have to fit that day's genre if you don't want. You can take as much or as little inspiration from them, mix them, or ignore them completely. Romance is of course possible for all prompts and genres!

We haven't dedicated a single day for free day, as such we accomodate for it any day.

We have also decided to add "vibes" to each day. If they spark inspiration, go ahead!

Kisame looked around the garden and each room of the hideout. He couldn’t find Kakuzu or Hidan and yet, they were supposed to be home for the debriefing today. 

He frowned and left the hideout, circling around to the back near the training ground they made - frequented by the zombie pair when they felt like fighting. Sure enough Hidan was laying on the ground headless, screeching at Kakuzu who ignored him. 

“Kakuzu, can you put his head back on, we have a meeting.” Kisame walked up to his boyfriend with a toothy grin. He hasn’t seen Kakuzu in a few weeks and he wasn’t shy about missing him. 

“Fine.” Kakuzu left Kisame and grabbed Hidan’s head and body, putting the kid back together before walking to the hideout without another word. 

“What the fuck is his problem.” Hidan cracked his neck and glared at Kisame. “What did you do?” 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Kisame watched his lover walk away from him. He would have to ask the man after Pein’s meeting. He helped Hidan stand up and then followed Kakuzu’s path. 

The meeting was boring and predictable like Kisame had assumed. Hidan mouthed off and Konan hit him with a glare that made Itachi shiver in fear. 

Kakuzu was already out of the room and in his own room before Kisame could catch up. The door slammed in his face and Kisame had to stand back and rethink the reasons he’s dating Kakuzu. With a huff he opened the door and shut it in Hidan’s face. 

“No it’s okay. I didn’t want to sleep or anything.” Hidan yelled through the door and stomped off. 

Kisame ignored the kid, choosing instead to look at Kakuzu’s back. Three masks were gone. 

“What’s wrong?” Kisame asked, he wasn’t used to the silent treatment. He could feel the air in the room tense. Kakuzu didn’t say anything in return. “Did I do something? Did Hidan do something?” Kisame now stood next to Kakuzu, who seemed to be actively ignoring him. 

“Fine.” Frustrated Kisame turned away from Kakuzu. “You know there are times where I stay up at night thinking about all the reasons I love you. Then there are times where I wonder if you even like me…it sure feels like you hate me sometimes.” Kisame sighed and went to walk out of the room. He was surprised by threads grabbing onto his arm. 

“Don’t go. I’m sorry.” Kakuzu muttered, his threads pulling Kisame back towards him. “I’m just not feeling very social. The last fight was draining. I shouldn’t take it out on you. I’ll do better.” 

Kisame smiled softly and placed a hand on Kakuzu’s shoulder. 

“I could never hate you.” Kakuzu pressed his forehead into Kisame’s stomach. The touch was small but Kisame knew the man below him was pouring all the love he could into it. 

“Promise?” 

“I swear.”

KakuKisa and SaejimaKiryu

KakuKisa - TAKES A DEEP BREATH IN. I can not articulate the way these men make me feel when I spend any amount of time genuinely thinking about Them. Kisame is... he sees himself as a weapon, most shinobi do, but at some point he didn't have a PURPOSE and the Akatsuki gave him that. Gave him the grandest goal he could conceive of... I think Kisame is just. He feels a lot and he represses a lot and it shows in weird ways and one of those ways is caring about the small things about the people around him. Kakuzu I have less of a grasp on but he's old, he's tired, and he doesn't want to die. He's irritable and having someone who can smart talk him but also take him in a fight when he's in a bad mood would do wonders for him; I think. Kisame (in a verse where they share a common homebase) likely spends hours watching Kakuzu (which makes him paranoid) but then he comes back from a mission one time to discover his room cleaned; but nothing out of place. There's just not a speck of dust. His personal paperwork is left alone but the business stuff is done accurately and sorted and prepared for filing; his bedding is freshly cleaned and still slightly warm. And again- nothing is out of place. Which means the only person who could have done it was "Mr. I watch you for hours but never really interact with you but I would fight to survive for you because I've grown to care about you as more than a comrade and am grateful for all you do". I think if they are ever placed on a mission together Kakuzu thinks Kisame will irritate him but they actually mesh very well. Two missions later they're intimate. And in a couple years they could likely be the most devastating force on a battlefield. Someone you trust with your life, who you fight to live for, who you know blind? That's in short supply in the shinobi world. And Kisame fosters that love. 9/10- Kakuzu is reluctant to enter anything serious because of both his violent tendencies and because Kisame is Mortal. There's likely some boundary pushing that has to be done to make this ship happen; but once they're settled in... that's for life baby. 10/10 in a universe that would allow them to be slightly less guarded.

SaejimaKiryu- Honestly doesn't feel Right or fulfilling without Majima being there, but I think Saejima and Kiryu could have a very good relationship- they're big hulking bears with emotional repression issues that work their problems out through fighting. But I think as they age and grow older and more that they would have a foundation for open communication and honesty that they find difficult with most others. They've both been to prison, although Saejima had it a lot rougher and twice as long. I just imagine they probably know each other very well before even meeting. Not as people but as communication partners. Especially since both of them are capable of bonding so closely with Majima and not being Completely and Utterly put off by him. Saejima respects Kiryu but ultimately doesn't see him as indestructible which I think Kiryu needs. And Kiryu doesn't judge people on their past, and especially since Saejima shows such genuine heart wrenching regret over taking lives I think having someone who just sees him as who he is in the moment would be important for Him. Its A Good Ship. 8/10, 10/10 if Majima is there as well. The sexual chemistry is a bit off.

Collaboration with @pomodoriyum ! The deal was that they’d write a ficlet of Kakuzu/Kisame having a talk on the topic of loyalty and I got to draw something of my choosing from the fic. I went with a tiny comic with my fave lines of dialogue, the fic is fantastic btw. It’s a pairing that is slowly growing on me (I used to only like them in a platonic brothers-in-arms way, but I’m liking them as a couple too now).

The KakuKisa is only found in undertones, it’s very subtle like a prelude to potential flirting, so even if you’re not into this pairing it’s worth reading! Good stuff aaayy

honestly never met with this ship but I always imagined them as a good friends - both are mature and experienced, they mind their own businesses instead of chasing for power or revange, they kinda understand each other. I can totally see them like reading books together and having tea (okay, now I need to draw this)
