thank you to film independent spirit awards for nominating me in best lead performance from my work in cuckoo 🐦 mikey madison won, congrats!!! 🥳 we were at the same table and i'm so happy for her and the success of anora. anora led the nominations and wins in the show and i have heard lots of great feedback about anora too! i love cuckoo with all of my heart so just the fact of being nominated for it was already an experience for me. congrats to my fellow nominees, demi moore for the substance, justice smith for i saw the tv glow, june squibb for thelma, sebastian stan for the apprentice, amy adams for nightbitch, ryan destiny for the fire inside, colman domingo for sing sing, and keith kupferer for ghostlight! i was also an award presenter with alana haim for best performance in a new scripted series btw 💗 the 40th film independent spirit awards celebrated the best of independent film and television, held at santa monica pier. not the best time right now for communities but we can protect our golden glow when we want to and not let anybody take that away from us, can't we? 🌞 the show's considered in middle age rn and like host aidy bryant said, 20 is the new 40!! it is crucial that we the amplify the voices of independent storytellers by celebrating their diversity, originality and uniqueness of vision, and the spirit awards makes sure that it is what we exactly do. the film industry is as vast as the world could be and one might get lost digging in it. honoring the independent media can remind us that the world is never short of storytelling. this year in film independent awards is brighter than ever because for the first time in its history, it also recognized television content, celebrating both the bests in film and tv 📺 stuff like this happens when people put their hands together to empower people like the late josh welsh. a tribute was dedicated to him who was the beloved longtime president of film independent. he passed away recently after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. 🕊️ we thank josh and all the people in this organization for championing the independent film and tv industry. i just really feel honored to be there too like i'm so happy for clapping for them hahaha!!! 🥳 and btw you guys i saw the online fancasts of me as mystique!!! i got me some interesting questions from media at the event including this. a reporter in attendance on the show's red carpet asked me if i have seen the online fancasts of me as marvel's mystique and YES that’s cool! i have seen and my father actually texted it to me when he saw it haha!! every now and then these fancasts stuff comes by and i just really love how you guys cast me with stories and characters i love. i was also asked about my recent message about my passport... like if i got support after that and yeah! not really looking for support when i said that but yk i got this wonderful community with me so i just really feel lucky and great. a letter in a passport won’t change who i am. we trans have always exited and we will continue to be FUCK THAT ADMINISTRATION. aaaaand about euphoria yeah i have been occupied with euphoria season 3!! we are so back!! it actually feels like a homecoming because euphoria was my school in acting so working on it again got me having a feeling like that. so excited to be back with the gang and to meet you all with new works soon!!
