When he does Bible comics
If Hirohiko Araki were to do Bible comics anytime in the future, especially after his dog goes missing for days, that he’s going to go to church to look for it wherever he can that not only gets him to worshipping God in earnest but also honouring him with Bible comics Jojo fans should thank their lucky stars that Jojo has lasted for as long as it does. The fact that it has lasted for more than thirty years is enough to accumulate a substantial body of lore to draw upon, so they should be thankful for its longevity and even if Araki doesn’t continue it the way he would’ve wanted to but at least that’s long enough to depict any ability he can come up with.
They should also be thankful that Araki never went into any worse direction, given his own condition that he will disclose at any point. Kentaro Miura never got to finish Berserk the way he would’ve liked when he died, Araki would find himself finishing or quitting Jojo sooner than expected when he starts doing Bible comics and any Christian themed comic, it would be interesting if he starts illustrating nearly all the stories in both the Old and New Testaments. But on the bright side, he might have genuinely new ideas to work with. New sources of inspiration to draw from, since I feel he’s gotten creatively bankrupt in some places.
He could also go on illustrating not just the Bible but also anything relating to Christianity. Be it the stories of saints after going to an Orthodox monastery to find his dog at last, his time in the various churches and monasteries he’s visited as well as illustrating his own prophecies and God-given visions or testimonies. He could actually come up with very different stories and characters this way than if he remained married to his old shtick, since some of it’s gotten old that he better start finding new ways of writing something even with the things he’s familiar with. So illustrating the Bible would be the biggest and newest source of inspiration, post-Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure by the way. It wouldn’t be easy for him to make new alliances with something else, even if it’s what gets him closer to God.
He could make new friends and the like along the way when he does become a Christian, getting into Bible study to better understand it and reading any Christian source and the like to better understand the Bible. Enriching his works and perhaps learning to look at things in a different way, especially if his dog goes missing for a while that sometimes what seems like the actions of an evil God may be God’s way of getting Araki to trust him more. While God doesn’t always answer the way we would’ve expected in any way we think, sometimes he doesn’t answer at all but at other times when he does it could either be better or more than what we wanted.
So in Araki’s case he might find himself doing a lot more work for churches and monasteries than he would’ve expected, something like becoming inspired by Russian Orthodox icon art and illustrating the stories of Biblical characters, saints and his time in monasteries and churches that enable him to come up with new characters and stories altogether. He might also find himself resenting some of the things he liked, since this is what made him drift away from God as well as the feeling that some of the things he liked are anti-Christian, worldly and demonic. He could end up destroying some of them, fearing their evil influence on him.
While it seems like we’ll be seeing the last of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, he could reuse some of his characters for a Bible story that he’ll illustrate. He could also have a new way of looking at things, especially if some churches forbid dogs from entering for being dirty. He could even get his family to worship God with him together, that would be another side effect of him becoming a Christian. He wouldn’t get to complete Jojo the way he would’ve wanted to or liked, but at least he’s found a newer and better calling when he does Bible comics in the future.
It would take him to unexpected paths and connections, things he never seemed to enjoy at first but something that would test his faith in God in the years and months to come. As I said before, he might come to understand things from the Bible’s perspective regarding some of the things he’s into. It would be something he’d struggle with sometimes, but something that he’ll come to know better the more he gets into monasteries and churches in search of his dog and so on. He’d even read seemingly tangential sources to better understand the Bible’s stance on things like dogs, as well as finding the other versions of the Bible that might have stories sympathetic to them.
It would test his faith in God a lot but one that gets him really hooked on him, the more he reads up on anything relating to the Bible and Christianity. What might be Jojo fandom’s loss is Heaven’s gain, that Jojo fans should be thankful Araki would get spared from a worse fate this way. The path to devotion to God isn’t easy and it wouldn’t be easy for him, but he could learn to get more from the Bible when he trusts God more. I got hooked on devotionals and online Bible verses, the more I kept on finding more of them online. Something similar will get Araki hooked on God in the future, the more he gets devoted to him.
He’ll make mistakes along the way but it will change his life forever when it does. By the way, I actually prayed for his salvation and he could become a devoted Christian one day.
