Polk County Florida Sheriff - "You kill a policeman it means no arrest...no Miranda rights...no negotiations...nothing but as many bullets as we can shoot into you...PERIOD."
POLK COUNTY FLORIDA SHERIFF, GRADY JUDD
man in Polk County , Florida , who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop, ended up "executing" the deputy who stopped him. The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed. A state-wide manhunt ensued.
The murderer was found hiding in a wooded area. As soon as he took a shot at the SWAT team, officers opened fire on him. They hit the guy 68 times.
Naturally, the liberal media went nuts and asked why they had to shoot the poor, undocumented immigrant 68 times.
Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel: "Because that's all the ammunition we had." Now, is that just about the all-time greatest answer or what
The Coroner also reported that the man died of natural causes. When asked by a reporter how that could be, since there were 68 bullet wounds in his body, he simply replied: (BEST QUOTE ever) . . .."When you are shot 68 times you are naturally gonna die."

with tiktok apparently being back after only 20 ish hours, what I plan to do is download my bookmarks like I wanted and then get the hell off it. I'm not praising mr president for "saving" something he aimed to get rid of in the first place.
that said I'm left with one main question which is: how?
as in, by what legal process did the man supposedly overturn a supreme court decision? yes, political theatre, propaganda, whatever, that's not the question I'm asking. I'm asking, what is the actual mechanism by which this is happening? how does this happen? is there any precedent for a president supposedly having this ability to just insta-reverse something that took months for a whole govt body to decide? I vaguely recall some bill passed late last year that would give the president more power than he constitutionally should have, but I wasn't sure I understood it. is this connected to that?
but also, how much did he actually overturn it? did he overturn anything at all? clearly something is still in effect since you cannot find tiktok in the app store and when you search for it, this comes up:
Tumblr media
can somebody who understands legalese help me understand what is actually happening here? I will accept even a half-baked attempt at an unbiased response. I know people have lots of strong opinions about tiktok and about trump and i'm aware there is a great degree of performativity happening here, but let's save all that bs for a different post because that's not what i'm asking about. i'm asking what is Going On. is the man straight up breaking the law? like. help

favorite interactions with my raid-mates in ESO are when their "only logs in for raid and barely knows the actual game" habits encounter my "chronically in game" knowledge
once our tank left instance during a break and ended up in northern elsweyr and got startled by how many people were by the wayshrine
frankie: why are there so many people here me: they're always there, dancing in the fountain frankie: ... HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT? me: BECAUSE I DO MY WRITS THERE

idea: “Would you fall in love with me again” edit where it flashes between different animator’s versions of odysseus and penelope; where it flashes between different animatics of the song. They fall in love over and over again. In every interpretation. In every context. Designs change, but its still them. Time and time again.

Me, gasping awake: "Omg, I haven't thought about Rosinante in days!"
My brain: "No worries fam, here's a huge CoraHawk fake dating fix it AU."
Me: "Thank you :)"
*10 minutes later*
Me: "But you know we can't have Mihawk without Shanks, especially if this is set during their duelling times, and also I think Shanks and Rosinante would get on like a house on fire--"
My brain: "This is gonna be a polyamorous Rosinante/Mihawk/Shanks story before long, who do you think I am??"

Do you think NPs can be charged with crimes? How would a trial work out?
Yes, NPs can be charged with crimes. For example, France was arrested when he showed up to the first Olympics naked. Nations are not above the law, and can be prosecuted just like any other citizen. The only difference is they have a few advantages.
I'm going to use America as an example.
So let's say that America gets arrested. He'll get processed, mugshot taken, blah blah blah. He's going to call his boss and let him know what's happened (if the news hasn't heard of it first). After getting chewed out by his boss, a couple things can happen:
America gets pardoned by his boss and gets off scot-free. Usually, this will be for federal crimes that either aren't very serious, or non-violent.
America doesn't get pardoned, but he gets bailed out of jail. So this is for stuff like grand theft or malicious property destruction. He's not dangerous, but pardoning him would be a bad look. So he'll still have to go to trial for his crimes.
America is STAYING IN JAIL! He either killed someone, robbed a train, or some other morally reprehensible thing. His boss has to teach him a lesson that this is unacceptable. America is stuck in jail and has to go to trial.
So let's say America's boss didn't pardon him, and he's going to trial. He has luck on his side. He's going to get some really good lawyers to get him out of this. He also usually has the media on his side as well. Not only will he have a PR team, he's also well liked among his people, so they're not gonna wanna see him behind bars. This puts pressure on the court. But if this were a crime like murder, he wouldn't really have that much support.
America's legal team will try to get a plea bargain to reduce his charges and get him a lighter sentence. 99% of the times, it works. But if he did something REALLY bad, then it probably won't. The trial is a media circus, and his team will want him to look his best. He's dressed immaculately, and told to be on his "best behaviour".
Now let's say despite the strong legal team and media support, America is convicted. The most likely outcome is probation and fines. If it's murder or something horrible, he'll be on intensive probation. So he can do his job while also being punished for the crime.

So I've got this idea of Stan with a tongue piercing (lets be honest he's had a bunch of piercings, a lot of them just closed over time or he had to take em out cause he couldn't take care of them)
Anyways, Ford finding out because he sees it glint in Stans mouth and the first time he thinks its a trick of the light but eventually he realizes and asks Stan about it and Stan brushes him off.
All this to say, Ford gripping the back of Stans head and commanding him to open up then getting frustrated when Stan doesn't respond quick enough and just gripping stans jaw and forcing his thumb into Stans mouth, pressing his tongue down, to pry it open so he can see for himself since Stan wants to be stubborn about it.

hmm we know from anaxas character story that he experiments on his own blood but how would socrates!reader feel about it?
imagine they are on their daily mission to engage in an hours long debate with him but instead they find the fool passed out in his lab with tubes sticking out of him? would they absolutely freak out or just scold him for doing so with no one to watch over him?
i think they would be sympathetic in terms of understanding his commitment to truth and knowledge; it’s a quality both of them share, and the reader has had their fair share of endangering themselves over abandoning this commitment, albeit in less overt/ physical ways. however, it’s one thing to dedicate oneself to the pursuit of knowledge; it’s another to willingly undertake actions which may undermine the future possibility to continue this search, especially when one can’t be certain about the outcome.
to be confident that you know enough about what you’re doing to risk life and limb for it — that’s what they disagree with. because that’s being no better than those experts who flaunt their supposedly extensive knowledge to discover they actually know very little. if anaxa proclaims to know enough about alchemy, enough about the titans and humans, that he is confident this test will succeed (or even be worth doing), they will challenge him on it, even if he turns out to be right.
after all, the only true wisdom lies in acknowledging how little you know of what you take to be the things you think you know best: don’t give up the search for truth, but whenever you find yourself thinking you’re onto something, the most important thing is to question, to eliminate any other alternative you have overlooked, before proceeding and making a potentially grave mistake. the reader is meticulous in their pursuit; anaxa is highly intelligent, but reckless and oftentimes disregarding in his. they won’t let this slide, especially if it involves putting his well-being on the line. it’s at times like this that they can understand why anaxa bears the title of ‘fool’.

I don't think that Pippin Took is not intelligent, or smart.
I think he's an incredibly bright, young hobbit with the self-preservation of any 16-year-old human who just wants to know and understand everything.
Going by the books (because I love Pippin in the books), it's fairly clear that he quite clever, just reckless and very, very curious to the point that not knowing something is an irritating itch that he just has to scratch.
To me, Pippin seems like the kind of child who was told that he asked too many questions and needed to sit down and be quiet, which led to him seeking answers himself, regardless of how dangerous it might seem. Hence dropping the stone down the well (who doesn't want to see how deep a very dark pit goes?), touching the palantír (in his defense, he didn't really want to but he felt something pulling him towards it. Whether it was his curiosity or something ulterior in the palantír is up for interpretation in my mind), even joining the conspiracy to uncover what Frodo was really doing when he sold Bag End.
Pippin is just someone who craves knowledge and is unafraid to go and find answers himself, probably because everyone constantly tells him that he asks too many questions and that he can't possibly wish to know everything.
#There's a lot to unpack here#A lot of people may think that's still very childish of him#Which is foolish#Because there's nothing wrong with wanting to know everything#But I think it also reinforces Pip's naïvety and youth#My mini analysis is that Pippin represents youtu and all things associated with#And the impact war and the world and growing up in general has on young people#But also the resilience and hope of children and younger people too#There are many little tidbits in the book that nod to pippin being very intelligent#I'll have to compile a list#But it's not the obvious traits of knowing absolutely everything#Because intelligence isn't the amount of knowledge you have#But (in my mind) the amount of knowledge you seek#Every “foolish” act he seems to do is because he's seeking answers to questions that people won't tell him#Which is pretty typical if someone who's stubborn bright and very curious#And probably also highlights that he's been told to stop asking questions a lot when he was younger#So instead of asking he finds out for himself#Which makes sense because hobbits are very reclusive folks#Who don't want to know/care about dealings outside the shire#And as long as they have their comforts everything is well#I mean hobbits are very quick to spread rumours instead of finding out the truth#Perhaps Pippin's curiosity was the catalyst to him being involved in the journey at all#Perhaps he didn't believe that Frodo had gone bankrupt#Or wanted to know why#Or how he lost all of Bilbo's money#Anyway#I have many thoughts about pippin took#Pippin took#Peregrin took#Lotr

Ohiwe
After Oh is split into two, their power is halved/divided. But! Other traits are not necessarily divided evenly. So she holds all the romantic love (unrequited) for Ymber. She also has the rhythm/ability to dance while the other half cannot keep a beat for the life of him.
#my characters#also just because im fascinated by the fire deity as a duo and how they think#ymber (water deity) is renowned and worshipped for knowledge and he is incredibly skilled and smart and logical#oh (and then ohime and ohiwe after the punishment) is famed for fortitude#but also holy moly the lil fire freaks are obsessed with the scientific method of trial and error#like while ymber would prefer to observe and gather data first before coming to any conclusions or even consider what to test#ohime and ohiwe just go YOLO! and speed run science#like after ymber gives deacon a very hefty blessing and the word reaches the fire duo ohime just jumps to travel#and waltzes into ymbers city and is like hi hello good to see you i need to borrow your boyfriend#and then gives a playful nudge and oh my the ward flared how fascinating#and begins to circle the poor guy and just gently getting too close vs a decent distance and seeing how the ward reacts#and hes like OKAY SO IN CONCLUSION to the wonderful question of can ohiwe and i buff the boyfriend#the answer is no because you completely dominated the poor guys body like look at him hes unable to drown now#and hes so sad that ohiwe and him cannot in fact make deacon fire proof#but then he continues with yeah cause obviously we would recruit fulj so she could bless him with lightning#then you could have a water proof boyfriend who also cannot be melted inside or out#and deacon is just like wait i cant drown anymore? what?#ohiwe and ohime just visiting the other deities in rotation since they have the ability to leave one in charge of the fire city#and let the other wander to check on their buddies and sometimes just playing host in the fire city#for fulj if she wants to visit because she deserves an honorary home there after her own punishment#also idk if it matters to anyone else but it matters to me but the city of fire has so many snakes#because the fire deity are closely tied to serpents in association#so they have two in their temple (though they can leave!) and then snakes all around the city#like in the street or slithering into someone's house ya know as snakes do
