Airi: Why don’t we go to the lesson studio so you can work on it?

Chisa: I did consider it…but I doubt Kirika-sensei would tell me anything I haven’t already heard from her.

Yuuki: You could always shoot back.

Chisa: What?

Yuuki: If you don’t like what she says to you, you can shoot back!

Chisa: You’re telling me to shoot back at…Kirika-sensei…for giving advice.

Yuuki: Unless you’re okay with always running away from the fight?

Chisa: …Huh?

Yuuki: You know, one time I came home from school after losing a fight. My old man wouldn’t let me in! Kept telling me to go and get ‘em back.

Chisa: That’s a totally different situation!

Airi: D-didn’t he get in trouble for that?

Yuuki: He sure did. About a dozen school staff including the principal showed up and really let my dad hear it. They looked soooo mad.

Airi: What’d your dad do?

Yuuki: He just told them, “Grown-ups have no business getting involved in the children’s squabbles, you know.”

Yuuki: And that was that! He didn’t even put down the wok he was cooking dinner with.

Airi: He’s so cool!

Chisa: Wasn’t your dad the first grown-up who got involved, though?

Yuuki: This other time some punks tried dining and dashing at our restaurant. So my dad stuck a kitchen knife in a cutting board and brought it out and went:

Yuuki: “This restaurant is like my own flesh and blood. You want to hurt my restaurant? Come stab me with the knife yourself then.”

Yuzuha: Yeah, let ‘em have it!

Yuuki: The cowards turned tail and ran for it.

Yuuki: I’ve seen my old man pull so many stunts like that growing up. I could never get into a real fight with him, haha!

Chisa: Er…I hate to interrupt this very interesting storytime, but this was supposed to be about my problems, remember?

Airi: What was your family like, Chisa-chan?

Chisa: Huh? You really wanna know?

Yuzuha: Yea!

Chisa: Mmm…

Chisa: My dad made a really big mistake with the business, so we lost a lot of money. We ended up so poor, struggling just to make ends meet…

Sorry for the possibly long post under the cut, but IMO this story should be read in one sitting.

Part 1

Yuzuha: "Top 10 Driving Spots You Must Visit"… Heh, sounds fun~

Riko: Isn’t this travel pamphlet interesting? Driving’s really the best.

Yuzuha: Why do you have this?

Riko: I saw these pamphlets when I went into town, so I took one.

Yuzuha: How nice~ I'd like to go somewhere.

Riko: Then do you wanna go somewhere this weekend? I don’t have a car, but I do have my bike.

Yuzuha: Really?

Riko: Of course! I'll take you anywhere you wanna go.

Yuzuha: Yay, let’s go!

Riko: Aaalrighty, where should we go?

Haruna: (Oh, Yuzuha-chan and Riko-chan are talking about something.)

Riko: Yuzuha, anywhere in particular you wanna go?

Yuzuha: I wanna take a tour of Tokyo.

Haruna: (How rare, they’re talking about going somewhere. Sounds interesting. I’ll eavesdrop for a bit.)

Riko: Once we finally get to the sightseeing area, should we buy gifts for everyone?

Yuzuha: Good! Let’s buy them gifts! Are there any shops that sell pretty accessories?

Riko: There’s a lot of shops, and they sell a lot of Japanese-styled accessories.

Yuzuha: Theeen, I wanna buy wonderful stationery for everyone as a present! Do you think they’ll be pleased with that?

Riko: I’d think so.

Haruna: (Yuzuha-chan looks really happy!)

Yuzuha: Okay, let’s buy some stylish lottery sets for everyone! [3]

Haruna: (Lottery?! For all of us?! There’s definitely something wrong here!!)

Riko: I can’t wait for the weekend anymore! Should we just go now?

Haruna: (This is bad, I should go stop them.)

Yuzuha: YES!!

Riko: Go to Senso-ji, eat tonkotsu ramen, and then buy letter sets for everyone! We’re off!

Haruna: ….Huh?

Yuzuha: Let’s go!

Haruna: Oh… They were communicating properly.

TL Notes

[1] She says チェーンソー which is “chainsaw” (or in this case, チェーンソー寺/chainsaw temple). I decided just to romanize it to better match with Senso-ji.

For context, Yuzuha is a kikokushijo (children of Japanese expatriates who have done their schooling abroad) who has returned from France prior to the main story, but was born in Singapore and has moved from place to place all across the world. Because of this upbringing, she’s multilingual but is prone to making some mistakes as seen in this story. Have I mentioned she’s also filthy, filthy rich

[2] ポンコツ can mean “junk” or something that’s worn out (puns!).

[3] Yuzuha was meaning to say 手紙 (letter) but actually said 毛ガニ (horsehair crab). I wanted to translate this to something similarly ridiculous, so I went with lottery (ty proofreader ri for the suggestion).

Wow guys, a CUE translation not related to Satori! All that aside, this story is hella amusing and chaotic so I had to translate it and share it. Yuzuha is also cute and I’m declaring her my daughter.

Yuuki: There’s that ki-do-ai-raku stuff, right? The four human emotions?

Yuzuha: I guess it’s being able to say what you like and what you don’t like, or something?

Chisa: Kirika-sensei told me in our lessons it was something I really needed to work on.

Airi: She told me the same thing.

Yuuki: What was the difference between joy, ki, and pleasure, raku, again?

Yuzuha: Isn’t Kiraku like the name of a restaurant or something?

Chisa: Out of the four of them, I’m at least pretty good on do, anger.

Airi: I’m not so good at it. I don’t know if I’ve ever really been angry...

Yuuki: Ahahaha, yeah right. Of course you have, everyone gets mad sometimes!

Airi: I-I’m serious!

Yuuki: You sounded kinda mad just now.

Airi: Well I’m not!

Yuuki: Could’ve fooled me.

Airi: This isn’t anger, this is...indignation?

Chisa: Can we get back to my thing, please?

Yuzuha: Oh, Kiraku is that Chinese restaurant in Shibuya! I saw it the other day. [1]

Chisa: Can you drop it already?

Yuuki: Come to think of it, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you smile, Chisa.

Airi: Maybe she never does?

Chisa: Of course I do! I smile all the time.

Yuuki: You sure?

Airi: I think she’s trying to show us her smile right now...?

Yuzuha: Wait, really? Is that...really a smile?

Yuuki: It’s a lil crooked.

Chisa: Can you all get serious?! I’m obviously not smiling right now.

Yuuki: Which one does sadness fall under?

Chisa: It would be under ai, wouldn’t it? It’s the same kanji, after all.

Yuuki: Yeah, how’s that ai related to sadness?

Chisa: You’ve lost me.

Yuzuha: Isn’t that the same kanji as the one in the word for pity?

Yuuki: What is pity, anyway?

Yuzuha: Pity is, uh...huh. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure I know how to explain it.

Airi: It’s like when you see a doll that looks hurt and you feel bad for it!

Yuuki: But I don’t feel bad when I see dolls like that.

Airi: What if...they were mecha figures?

Yuuki: There’s no reason to feel bad for them. They’re war machines, of course they’re going to get damaged. Even your fav robots could get smashed to pits and bieces.

Chisa: Come again?

Yuuki: Tiny wittwe pits and bieces!!

Chisa: Just say you misspoke...

Airi: What about you, Chisa-chan? Would you feel bad if you saw a toy robot smashed to bieces?

Chisa: You don’t need to triple down on it!

  Liber Entertainment's original CUE! mobile game launched for iOS and Android devices in Japan on October 25, 2019. The game lets players take charge of four teams of four aspiring seiyuu. The characters in the game are voiced by fresh faces in the industry themselves, and the teams they're divided into are Flower, Bird, Moon, and Wind.
